Type: Book
As of November 2026, Proverbs (book) has been mentioned in one podcast episode on The Bible Recap (Jan 2026). Used to contrast wisdom genres and to explain that proverbs are general principles, not ironclad promises—helping interpret Job’s challenge to simplistic retribution logic.
The Book of Proverbs is the second book in the third section of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) and a book in the Christian Old Testament. It is traditionally ascribed to King Solomon and his students. When translated into Greek and Latin, the title took on different forms: in the Greek Septuagint (LXX), it became Παροιμίαι ; in the Latin Vulgate, the title was Proverbia—from which the English name is derived.
