Radium Girls

Type: Book

As of November 2026, Radium Girls has been mentioned in one podcast episode on Georgia Marie (Dec 2025). In the episode "what's the future of this channel?" on Georgia Marie, the host recommends the book Radium Girls, noting it was the first history video she covered. She mentions that the video was well-received, highlighting its significance in her content.

The Radium Girls were female factory workers who contracted radiation poisoning from painting radium dials – watch dials and hands with self-luminous paint. The incidents occurred at three factories in the United States: one in Orange, New Jersey, beginning around 1917; one in Ottawa, Illinois, beginning in the early 1920s; and one in Waterbury, Connecticut, also in the 1920s.
