Stereopsis is the visual perception that seen objects have physical extent in three dimensions of space. It is caused by pictorial and nonpictorial depth cues. The largest component of stereopsis is stereopsis from binocular disparity, which is enabled through binocular vision. This sensation is much stronger than the suggestion of depth that is created by two-dimensional perspective. Stereopsis shares visual causes with depth perception.
