Hey guys, it's Rachel. Today we're going to talk about how to pronounce one of the most difficult words in American English: squirrel. Let's break it down into its two main syllables: 'squir' and 'rel'. The first syllable, 'squir', starts with an 'S' sound, then the 'KW' sound, and finally the 'ER' vowel. For 'rel', we have the 'R' sound, a schwa, and then the dark 'L'. Listen closely: squir-rel. Many people find the 'R' and 'L' combination challenging. Practice slowly, isolating each part. Say 'skwuh-rul' to get the feel of the tongue movement. Sku-rull.
Remember, consistency is key. Keep practicing and you'll master it. Thanks for watching!
