What's up guys? Mystic Zack here. Welcome back to episode 14 of double coverage. Today I'm joined by one of the greatest deep threats in NFL history and current head coach at Delaware State, Mr. Deshawn Jackson, bro.
How you doing, bro? Man, appreciate you having man. Super Bowl Sunday. We just had it. What was your thoughts, bro? Seahawks Patriots.
Oh, man. That was a that was a little sketchy uh Super Bowl, man. It kind of took me back to when the Patriots played the Rams when it was a lowscoring game. At first, it was like what, like four field goals?
Yeah. I'm sitting back. It was crazy cuz I like I already knew I was telling everybody the Seahawks, man. They they too good of a team.
Patriots, they ain't really had no receivers to me. I felt like I mean, Stefon's obviously a baller, but besides that, they struggled. Um, and I was just sitting back. It was kind of boring, bro. Like I'm like sitting there like, man, when is somebody don't score? They go all the way to the halftime. Nobody scores. Uh, my lady was like a big on watching um Bad Bunny or whatever. So, I'm like, man, let's get to the the halftime show. And we watched the halftime show and I was I couldn't understand nothing. Like, I know he's a big time artist, no disrespect to him, but I'm sitting there like, man, I just couldn't really get into it, bro.
I walked away at time, bro. What am I going to I can't I don't know what he's saying. I don't know what's going on.
No, for sure. Oh, shout out to him though. Yeah, but no, overall I mean I feel like it was I predicted it like you know I felt like the
mystic Deshawn Yeah. The the Seahawks was going to handle business. They were I feel like anybody that came from NFC was like the better team. Like you know obviously if we really go back that Seahawks and that Rams game that was like I feel like we knew who was going to be the Super Bowl champ from that game right there.
Yeah, the AFC was weak. Yeah, it was bad man. And then you know Bo [ __ ] got hurt too. So
yeah, once he broke his ankle, I was like, "Oh god." In the last what, like the last two minutes of the game, too. That that was hard, man, to see, bro. But you know, um, overall, man, it's crazy cuz just like that, football season's over. You know what I'm saying? And now,
you know, our season obviously, we ended back like the end of November. So, you know, it's it's crazy like during this period of time, like football season's over, but then like watch how fast it starts back up. You know what I'm saying? You going to look up and it's going to be August and it's going to be right back again.
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you've got a totally different schedule now as a head coach. for sure.
How was your first year coaching? You you did a great job. You guys went eight and four, obviously looking to improve.
Yeah. I mean, I feel like my first year, man um it it it was exciting, but at the same time, like I didn't know what to expect, you know, cuz all these years being a player and then now transition over to being a coach. Um for for me, I was very anxious and excited to see like, you know, offseason I was training, we did spring ball, we did, you know, summer camp and then it was like like, man, I want to see like how is like what is it going to be like? Are we going to go out there and get smacked? we going to win, you know? So, I was like before that first game of the season, I was just trying to figure out like what was going to feel like, what was it going to be, but like, you know, man, I I can never predicted me to be a head coach in college, but I mean, you know, it kind of fell on my lap, man. And, um, you know, I'm having a great time doing it.
What was your biggest surprise being a coach? I mean, I I think the biggest surprise, uh, you know, man, seeing guys take initiative, man, wanting to, you know, better off theirelves. um you know the information we're teaching these young men you know and and how they're gra you know they're grabbing the right information and it's transition over to the games you know what I'm saying so you know as a coach you know it's a fulfilling moment that your players you know they're doing everything you asking them from meeting rooms you know to going out on the field to taking notes to you know walkthroughs to spending like all the time you can just to to be the best you can on the field and you know I think they did a hell of a job doing that
what's been your coaching style are you a players coach are you trying to relate to them and
yeah I I feel like for me honestly like the the coaches that I love playing for was the coaches that could relate to the players you know so
you know I didn't want to become this coach and be like you know not realistic to being a player you know cuz
as a player man like it's a lot of things you got to go through you know some it's it's not going to always be perfect you know you going to have me you going to have mistakes you going to do the wrong thing you know and as a coach to be able to say you know what I was once in your shoes I going to crucify you for doing things but like at the end of the day like you got to you got to own up to it if if you make a mistake or you mess up, you got to own up to it. So, you know, just holding them accountable, um, having a high standard and, um, you know, at the end of the day, just being a realist, for sure.
Is it fulfilling being a leader of young men and getting to see them on their journey?
Yeah, I mean, being being a coach, man, for one, is inspiring. You know what I'm saying? I think without being an inspirer, without being a motivator, without being a leader, um, you know, it's it's going to be hard to have success being a coach. So, um, since since day one and hopping in, man, I've been feet on land. That's the mentality I say, you know, like you always got to be where your feet are, you know. You can't be here thinking about Miami or wherever the heck else you at, you know. So, um, just being invested. Um, and and if any like anything you want to do in life, if you work hard, you can have success. That that's my motto, you know.
I don't care if you're not good, if you don't have experience, like, you know, I didn't have experience coaching, you know. I hopped in and I was successful, you know. So, that's just kind of how I've been able to be successful my whole career.
Absolutely. Who was your favorite head coach during your career? You obviously play for a lot of great ones.
I mean, honestly, I I say like to be honest, like coach Andy Reid. Um, and the reason why I say that cuz he was like a father figure, you know, like obviously he wasn't my dad, but like he was understanding of like he he was born in California. He knew how it was. The temptations being young, you know, have having like a lot of people relying on you and depending on you. Um, for me was hard because, you know, being growing up in LA, you know, growing up in the streets, poverty, you know what I'm saying? Like there ain't really no hope, you know? So, not it's not a lot of people you could look up to that's that's motivators besides like, you know, the homies in the hood or homies, you know, just doing some positive things besides that. Like, you know, you have my dad, my older brother, but it's not really a lot of it, you know. So he kind of understood where I was coming from and you know what I had to do to
make it out. So I was just able to relate to him and you know he was tough. He was hard you know I ain't going to say it was easy but at the end day it was like a uh you know it's like one of those parents where it's like tough love. You know what I'm saying? He's like understanding like he going to lead you to there but like at the end day he can't do it for you. You know so that's kind of like my teaching. You know I want to help lead guys there but you know obviously I can't drink the water from they got to drink itself. You know,
when Coach Reg goes to Kansas City, did you know the type of success he would have? Cuz he's he already had an incredible career in Philly and then he's extended in Kansas City. Now he's regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time.
Yeah. I mean, I think co coach coach Andy Reid, one thing I can say about coach Andy Reid is um you know, he he's a he's a fair and honest person. Um and you know, he expects certain things to be done a certain way. You know, there's no if, ends, and but about that. um you know he's going to show you how it's done and he'll teach you as well too a teacher as well too. So I think those kind of coaches that have those characteristics are the ones that are very successful. So to say like the the way he left Philadelphia like we we kind of struggled that last year and uh you know when he left I I didn't really know what he was going to do but I just knew he was going to be successful. So for him to go to Kansas City what they won like two two two or three rings right like in over like 10 years. So
three rings. Yeah. Three rings. So, I mean, like to say he didn't win, not one in in Philly and then he goes to uh
cuz that was his knock, you know, that's what they would always say and win, but I mean, you know, at the end of day, he had a
I ain't going to say the greatest quarterback, but it's arguably to say, you know, Patrick Mahomes would I think at the end of his career will probably go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks, but you know, Tom Brady in my book is the GOAT.
Nah, definitely. For sure. For sure. One of the craziest stats about you, you caught touchdown passes from Donovan McNab and Jaylen Herz,
right? Crazy errors, right? That's like what, three different decades? Yeah. And this this you were taking the tops off of defenses literally your entire career. Did you when you enter the league, did you expect to have that kind of longevity? I mean, it's insane.
Um, I mean, I I was I was uh one of those guys where I feel like uh you know, I I invented a a different type of style in the NFL. um to look at a guy of stature that's under six feet. You know, I land 5'10, 5'11. So to have that type of stature, never was like over 180 pounds my whole career or 15 years span. So um to be able to say like I came in and I played on the outside. I wasn't like just a slot receiver. I wasn't just a returner like you know I mastered the wide receiver position and um it's not too many guys with my stature that's accomplished that. So, I feel like, you know, I I I definitely earned it. And um you know, I'm a connoisseur cuz I feel like, you know, like I said, coming into the NFL, they was underlooking or overlooking a lot of smaller players, you know. So, I feel like now after what I did and a few other probably before me, like, okay, we can't pass up on somebody that's shorter, that's not the
biggest just because of their size, you know? So, I think they start giving a lot more people um you know, opportunities because of that. You know what I'm saying? No, we talk about the greatest deep threats ever and you and Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson, those guys are so much bigger than you.
For sure. Totally different. And what's crazy is too, uh, you know, you speak on the the greatest deep threat ever. Like Jerry Rice is up in there too, even though you don't really think of it as him being like a home run hitter, but like he used to catch five yard slants and go the distance and take it like 70, 80 yards. So,
um, yeah. I mean, it's definitely a fulfillment moment to be able to say like growing up LA, u went to Cal, obviously left SC, you know, I committed to SC, but then I turned him down. I was like, man, I'm going to Cal. But to see like my path and then like what I did in the NFL to be able to say like one of the best deep threats ever. Like it's just like the hard work's paid off. It was a lot of doubters, you know what I'm saying? Like it was a lot of people that didn't think I was going to make it past three years in the NFL, you know? So, I just kind of
I mean, people quit on you during your prime. Yeah. No, for sure they did. I mean
I mean I ain't going to say nothing. Oh, you said it. Chip Kelly I mean gives you away. We had Shady on the pod too and we talked about that. Like
Sure. I What was that morning like? Cuz for me at home I was I was I'm a Cowboys fan. I couldn't have been happier.
Damn. Why you going to tell me you was a Cowboy before we sat down? You I couldn't have been happier.
When Chip gets rid of you, I mean that was like Christmas morning for a Cowboys fan.
No. Uh, I mean, he he just had a certain way he wanted to do things and um, you know, I felt like it was kind of more like of a college setting, you know, and you know, him coming to the NFL in his first year and, uh, was it which was 2013 was my biggest year I had of all my years. Um, you know, his I would say his philosophy, his style was was great on the field, but it was just like everything he was asking us to do as far as like I would say petty things like wear a heart monitor at night. Like you asking you asking somebody that's a five, six year, sevenyear vet to put on a hot heart monitor at night just to see how many hours you sleeping. Like you want to you want to test our our urine to see how hydrated we are. It's like it was just like we was guinea pig. You know what I'm saying? I I get it. You know, you coming from Oregon and you want to test all us for like certain things. It
just like for me I'm like, man, I'm not doing that. You know, you're a grown ass man.
Yeah, I'm a grown man. I'm getting paid. Like I'm for one, I'm getting paid more than you. But, you know, it was just like he was just asking you to do things that for me just wasn't realistic. And I was I wasn't really going for a lot of stuff. And it wasn't just me, it was other people, too. But, you know, I just think we kind of just buted heads and then, you know, they just felt like they had to go in a different direction.
No, great. He did He did a great job, man. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I still was in the division though. I still see
you torch us with them, too. Yeah. You know what? The Washington rivalry isn't as bad as the Philly one, though.
You know, when you're an Eagle playing the Cowboys, it's different. No, it it definitely is, man. For sure.
Jaylen Carter spitting on Dak like that. That gets heated. Dak originally spit it first. If you go back and look at it, he he spit first. I don't know if he was trying to spit directly on him, but he still spit regardless to his left or to the right or straight. You spit. So when we getting in and then you spit, I feel like I'm talking to you and I spit anywhere close to you. That's a form of disrespect.
So So that that instigated Yeah. Yeah, for sure. He he he definitely instigated that. And uh I mean [ __ ] Jaylen, somebody you can't he a bully.
Yeah. He ain't going for that. So I mean, you know, at the end of the day, I when I first seen it, I'm like, "No, you can't do that." You know, and that was a big game. First game, wasn't the first game he was opener?
Like you can't do that. But uh at the end of the day, [ __ ] he did. Feels like last week and now the season's over. It's over that fast. Never a finger.
Yeah. Speaking of the Eagles, what's your outlook on them this upcoming season? What are you looking for them to do? Cuz you're an Eagle in your heart.
No, for sure. Um I mean, last year I feel like was was a they started we started pretty good, then we kind of got into a little funk. It's kind of always how it is too with the Eagles. You know what I'm saying? They they kind of fell out of rhythm. um towards the end kind of played a little better but you know obviously still didn't accomplish what we wanted to accomplish as as a Eagle fan after we just won two Super Bowls over the past what decade. I mean I you like it's either win a Super Bowl or or a bust. You know what I'm saying? So I think they'll do a good job of figuring out Jav always does a good job of figuring out this offseason whether he'll bring some guys in or you know just kind of rework the roster. But you know they we we'll be back and it it ain't over for us. I think we we got a we got a hell of a team right now man.
So curious to see what y'all going to do with the Cowboys Cowboys defense. Michael Parsons. I don't think that was smart. Obviously, he got hurt in Green Bay. But
I mean, you know who I do like that y'all got? I like NFL Young Boy. Yeah. No, Pickkins is a monster.
GP, a baller, man. I was just with them in Probo, him and uh CD. He can do everything.
Yeah, he can. He He He He got He got that dog mentality, too. That's why I really like him, man. He's a uh he ain't no selfish player, man. Like, you know, when he get his opportunity to make some plays, he going to ball. So, yeah. Y'all got something good. I just don't feel like I don't know, man. Y was you alive when y'all won uh the last?
Hell no. I was born 02. Feel bad for y'all, man. See, I was born 86. So, I I remember the ' 90s.
You didn't help us. You don't feel bad at all. No, I didn't. But, you know, I got a lot of friends that are like cowboy like die hard fans and it's like I feel bad for y'all cuz like y'all like y'all living in like like what 30 decades ago, 20 decades ago.
You torched us a few years ago on Thanksgiving. Where was I was I was for uh I was Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, my turkey was cold. I was upset. Anytime I play the Cowboys, I just feel like it's one of those cuz y'all supposed to be America's team. So like you know I just feel like all eyes are on that game and I just one thing about me like I always like stepped up in big games. Not to say regular games I don't step up but like in big games like I always felt like I had to you know really turn up and it just happened to be versus the Cowboys.
It it did. It happened against us a lot for sure. Unfortunately. How did the Eagles get Jaylen Herz and AJ Brown back on track? Is it salvageable?
I mean I think that's a good question man. you're a smart man cuz uh you know every time this topic comes up it it grabs a lot of attention but that's that's a tough question man um I don't I don't think um I can answer not I don't think I can answer that but I don't think I have the answer for that because like you said it's a it it's a relationship that's kind of been tarnished a little bit. you know, they they were like them, their best friends when they first start playing together. And I think, you know, over the past year, I just don't think they're quite as tight as they used to be. So, um, you know, that's going to be something they're going to have to fix internally.
I mean, if you know, being a receiver and, you know, being in situations like that, I mean, you might have to put your pride to the side regardless. And I and I don't know if you able to when you when shit's deep as it is, you know. So, I hope they get it together and figure it out because I feel like they both two hell of a players and you know when they not on the same page, you could tell it sticks out like a short thing.
No, it was it really did. I mean, could a fresh start be best? Hey, man, it's always best, man. Fresh start is always going to be best, but who going to take the fresh start cuz they both getting a lot of money and that that cap I think that cap went up too. I think the NFL granted like 30 million or some [ __ ] like that. So,
um yeah, I don't know, man. I don't know if I honestly felt like he would he he probably would get traded AJ Brown, but um I don't I don't know how it's going to work, but hey, [ __ ] By March, I think that's like the deadline. We got like two months to see or a month, maybe a month, February. [ __ ]
So, they got a month to see. What you What's your prediction? You think he gone?
I think he's gone. Think so. I I I don't It seems like he really wants to leave.
Yeah. Um he wants his He's He wasn't getting his. I mean, he wasn't at first and then he started and then like it kind of my my thing as a wide receiver and I say this all the time too like if you gonna cause friction or you going to cause attention like you got to be on your a game. You know what I'm saying? Like one thing like my OG's always told me they're like man like
it's cool to get mad, cool to get frustrated, you ain't getting the ball, but like when you get your opportunities, don't let that frustration overplay your your play if that makes sense. You know what I'm saying? So like you know like when you mad like it's a lot of clutter going on like you not your mind not where it needs to really be you know what I'm saying for you to be able to you know conquer that task. So I think that's where it gets tricky because like it's the NFL for one players are getting paid a lot of money. It's a league full of great play like I ain't going to say great players. It's a league full of everybody's good then you got some great players. So like even the good players could do [ __ ] to great players. So like if you ain't on your agame, if you great, those good players are going to be better than you. You know what I'm saying? So that that's that's where you got to just manage that and just do your
thing. And that's what frustrated the Eagles fans was the complaining and the what and then the drops are coming.
You can't do that in Philly. One one thing about Philly, man, if you for one, that's one of the hardest teams to ever play for, you know, cuz when you ain't doing good, you going to hear it. And uh you know, I feel like when you bring a lot of attention to your your name or yourself and you're not doing what you need to do, you they going to they going to boo your ass for sure. It's a hard place to play in.
What do you think about the book? You the book? Uh I think it was a distraction. I think it was a throw off. I mean like you got to think for three hours of you playing like a book a you reading the book ain't going to help take your mind off.
You never brought a book to the game, man. Come on. What would you do if one of your players brought a book to the game?
I honestly I I would I would be like, "Bro, you tripping, bro." Like now now you like, you know, at the end of the day now you doing you doing the most. But like your personality is your personality. But like I'm saying like for 3 hours you can block in and worry about like the your opponent us winning the game us being on the same page. Like you reading a book when [ __ ] ain't going right. That ain't like nah bro. You can't can't do that bro.
And I and and AJ my boy. Yeah. Like I tell him this to his face, but like at the end of the day like he a grown man. So like I'll never be the person to be hating on you, but I mean I got an opinion. I'm going to speak my opinion, but like at the end of day like I got a cool relationship with him and um you know what he does what he does. But just
grand scheme of things like looking at it like nah bro like you know you got you got to be locked in man and like you can't be that frustrated and let your distractions or you know let things distract you from the game.
No absolutely. And obviously Jaylen Herz is the guy you played for so and he's a Super Bowl MVP. I mean, he's been there a couple times. He's
professional. Yeah, he going he going to argue a professional. It's hard for me to understand someone not getting along with him. He seems like the nicest, most professional guy you can have.
I mean, yeah, you you you got a point. I mean, but everybody got their ways, you know? That's not to
to speak any ways to say I agree why somebody don't get along with a person, but like
I mean, I I think as in sports, man, you got you got opinions, right? And then you got facts, right? So, are you opinionated or are you are you factual? So, for me, like Jayen's a winner. He's proven that he's been a winner
since Bama. I mean, but you know, some sometimes a proven win may be different than if I'm a receiver and I'm AJ Brown. And like the way you win may be different than the way I want to win. Like maybe your winning at
13 for 17 for 125 yards. I maybe want you to go 24 for 31 and 350 yards. You know what I'm saying? So like that's that's when things get opinionated. But
I mean from his perspective, I mean one thing about him, he's going to take care of the ball. Towards the end of the season, middle season, he kind of started throwing picks and stuff, but like for for overall he's always managed the game. I think he's a great manager and that's why he has the wins he has.
No, absolutely. And he's been a constant professional since Bama. Seems like he's always at the locker room behind him and I I wish the best for him. The Eagles for sure. Just just except when they play versus the Cowboys.
Oh yeah. No, I hope they get against the Cowboys for sure. Yeah. But I got a lot of Eagles fans friends. Shout out to Skinny Joey and everyone. But nah [ __ ] One thing I want to ask you though, the kickoff rules.
Yeah. Our president hates them. You're known for your special teams. What do you think of them?
Um I mean I don't like the new kickoff rules for sure. Uh even asking like um you know it's crazy. I was talking to uh what's his name? Turpin for the Cowboys. what's his first name?
Kavante. Kavante. Yeah. So, I was talking to him at the Pro Bowl and I was asking him how he felt about the new kickoff rules and he was like, man, he he didn't like him cuz, you know, obviously I wasn't playing when they when they made the change, but uh yeah. I mean, I know it's for safety and things like that, but I just feel like that ain't it, man. Like, and then you got to declare onside like you can't just surprise onside kick no more. Like, man, that it takes the
it takes the fun out of the game, man. So, I I feel like hopefully the NFL recircle and change that rule back, but I mean, like I said, once again, I know it's for injuries, but I mean, it's football. You you going to get if you going to get hurt, you going to get hurt. Like, you making people five yard 10 yards apart from each other is not not going to stop people from getting hurt. When I talked to Lawrence Taylor about it, he was like, "Man, the best way to not get hurt is for everyone to play fast."
Cuz the way guys get hurt is when they slow down and they don't play through the play and they don't play fast. I play fast.
Yeah. offers. I mean, it's only one way to play. I mean, I think you you talking to somebody that, you know, invented some some stuff in football. So, going back, I mean, like I tell these guys all the time, like the NFL is changing things to prolong people's career and be able to make people have longevity. But in the safety and all the helmets and like when I was growing up, when we was playing, there was no concussions. They been like, "Oh, you got what, man? Get your ass back out there." You know what I'm saying? So now you got any one little thing going wrong, they like, "Oh, we holding you out." So yeah, man. It's it is what it's football, man. Like, you know, that's why you got all them moms being like they don't want their sons to play, but like once you make that decision to let your son play, like you got to go let them play. Go rub some dirt on it. They say spitting dirt.
Yeah, right. That bother you as a coach at all, you know? Were you trying to toughen them up?
Yeah, man. This these these dudes nowadays, man, they if they if they got a cold, they ain't practicing, man. Like they got a stomach freaking stomach ache, they ain't practicing. So, as a coach, it'd be like, I get it. If you really hurt and something's really wrong with you, then cool. But like, at the end of the day, man, like you got to be able to play through some [ __ ] you know? So,
you know, hopefully they uh they toughen up. What was the toughest injury you played through in your career?
I had a growing um a growing injury, man. It was uh what do they call that? A hernia. It was like a hernia.
Oh, [ __ ] Yeah. My um my bone I'm No, my uh the muscle pulled off my pelvic. So it was like I was running and like a dude like pushed me and like I felt the pop, but I think it was like wear and tear over time.
Yeah. And I was dealing with like in the growing areas and then like it kind of it pulled from here cuz I guess it was pulling from the tension from one side. So yeah, that was that was my only surgery in 15 years, man. But that was the toughest one, too.
That was your only surgery in 15 years. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Only had one surgery, man. And I was I was fortunate, bro, to not really have no knees or no crazy other injuries. But Yep. One surgery in 15 years, man. I think I
It might be a record. [ __ ] I don't know for sure. I've never heard of that. Well, if it is, it is. But I'm I'm It may be somebody went a whole career. Should I almost made it a whole career without having none?
That's crazy. That happened in I think my 13th year. It took you 13 years to your first surgery.
Yeah. 13 years. Yeah, that might be a record. That's insane. At skill position return. That's crazy, bro.
Yep. Wow. I never I never would have thought that in a million years cuz guys get so many cleanup surgeries now.
Yeah. I I I Well, I should have had surgery on my thumb, but I said I wasn't going to do it. So, like my joint like it goes like way back then like this other one. So,
cool party trick. Yeah. No, I hurt. I ain't pulling that out. I be trying to hold it in. So, cuz if it go too far like sometimes when I put my pants on and it get caught. Well, that should be hard. Painful ass. Football painful, man. It's a lot of lot of tough injuries in football.
Who are your favorite receivers to watch across the league today? Uh, I would probably say, uh, Jamar Chase, uh, Justin Jefferson, um, Devonte Adams, Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, Mike Evans, and, uh, Park. One more. Um,
I like Jackson Smith, man. Jackson, how you say his last name? Injigua. What? Uh,
I didn't like that. Drew said. I did not like that at all. What did you think of it?
I think they'd be messing with him cuz uh Marawn Lynch said Mcnigma. It's cool. Like a podcast is cool, but the NFL honors like
his his mom's watching. I'm like, come on bro. Yeah. Know that he he kind of tripped out on that. But
yeah, man. Not in the right setting, you know. Yeah. No, for sure, man. you know,
and he's not Marawn either. Like Marawn can say whatever the he wants whenever he wants.
He's beast mode. Like you can't he's not get away with anything. I've seen him get away with all time. Like man, they be tripping off the little [ __ ] I do and they let Maran go crazy.
But like you said, it's beast mode. They going to let him do whatever. Yeah, he's got that reputation and he like earned it. Like Bruce is a comedian. It's totally different.
Yeah. No facts. Yeah. No, I was not [ __ ] with that. Um the Seahawks though, man, like it did that shock you too what they did throughout the year.
Um it did. I ain't going to lie. Especially with Sam Darnold there. Um you know, and then with the new coach uh that came from Baltimore. This was his second or first year?
Uh second year. The second year. Yeah. I mean, winning in your second year. I mean, was like the third youngest coach to ever win. Um and was crazy. He was my defensive coordinator when I was in uh in Baltimore my last year in 2022. Um, but I mean I it's crazy because like towards the end of the season before playoffs I'm looking I'm like man Seahawks got the number one seed and I was like damn like it it definitely did throw me off cuz I didn't expect that. And Sam Darnold had a hell of a year man. So um that running back too man. Walker boy that that boy nice man. like I was I I watched him throughout the season and I didn't think he was like nothing crazy and then towards like the playoffs cuz what he did versus the Rams with that little move he made um versus the linebacker I was like yeah that dude special man a baller like he peed the Super Bowl too like man coming from basically nowhere
baller though he runs as well as anyone patient too I seen I seen some [ __ ] he did yesterday and he like hit a Leon he was like stop pausing out I'm like oh Yeah, he different.
And what's crazy though them dudes to be like standing straight up when they running like that that's weird. I ain't going to lie cuz it's like you watching him it's like man he ain't even ready to run like how you like usually when you run like you got like like a head start or like you leaning or something. He just straight up and then just go. I don't like
that's the Jason stance. Yeah. Jet, right? Or Genty too. Who you said? Jason. Oh yeah.
Yeah. You don't know what to predict. Anybody do that dangerous. Yeah. Man, you got to watch out for somebody like that.
He's a free agent, too. He's about to get paid. Jenny is Walker. Oh, yeah. He is. Damn.
Walker's about to get realiz he is. You think you think he'll reset the market?
I don't know about is he can't really block or catch. Damn, can he run? Yeah. No, I don't think he
he's a brick hand, so he won't. You can't play him. I mean, you can't pay him more than you pay like a CMC or somebody
or Saquon. You know what I mean? No, he can't do that. But he going to get he for sure going to get paid.
He can run. No, he can't. He going to get paid. You think he going to still be in Seattle?
Uh I don't know. Be a lot of money. He just wants Super MVP though. So the fans will trip out if they let him walk.
Yeah. [ __ ] They're going to have to break the bank. Yeah, it was. They were splitting his carries all year with Charban and then Charbanet got hurt and then just opened the floodgates. Like
I don't think anyone runs as I don't maybe Bjan runs as well as him but that's about it.
Now Bjan different bean Jonathan Taylor. I mean it's a few ballers out there. Who you taking? You taking Bean or Jir Gibbs?
That's like 1 A, one B. I I'll take Bejon, but Gibbs is lightning. Yeah, man. That's
You're with them at the Pro Bowl, huh? Yeah, I was with both of them. That's why I was asking you cuz I asked a few people that I was like, "Man, who who you taking?
Who are you taking?" I mean, it's You can't go wrong, man. But I I don't know. I like man Ban I feel like is a overall like I wouldn't say better but he's overall he does a lot of overall things different but like Gibbs man like you give him that boy he out of there man so I'll probably take years man just cuz I like you could throw you can pass you know what I'm saying he going to hit it and be gone
Gibbs might have a little higher ceiling like I don't know have games where you literally cannot do one thing about it
yeah no for sure yeah I think overall too I think he he probably had like he had more games overall. Uh more yardage than than Bean.
Nah, for sure. Baller. Yeah, the Rams, man. I thought they I thought they were going to do it. They were so close,
man. Matthew Stafford, man. How incredible is he? MVP. He He a baller, man. I I told people a long time ago that he he didn't really get enough credit that he deserve. I mean, to be able to do what he did in in uh in Detroit all those years, even though he didn't make make it to the Super Bowl, man, like and Calvin Johnson retired on him early. But, you know, once he came to LA, man, I it was something special. I'm like, man, McVey cuz obviously when when Jared G was there um in LA, um Shawn McVey did a great job. Shawn McVey was one my coach as well in Washington and I came and played in in LA, too. So, I I always knew that like Shaman Vay once he got his guy, he he going to turn him something special. So once he did come to LA, I mean there there ain't no way that they wasn't going to win a Super Bowl. So they they got one, but I for sure thought they was going they was going to win it this year, too.
Yeah. Yeah. I thought I thought they were. They need to get two next year. Hey, it's going to be in LA, too, cuz that wasn't there. Exactly. Were they the first team to win in their home stadium? Was that in 2021?
Well, the the Bucks did it. Oh, the Bucks did before that. Yeah, Brady did, too.
The Bucks and then LA. So then they got another opportunity this next year to go back. So
I did see that, too. Do you believe that? I don't know if it's conspiracy, but like do you believe like they say the NFL when they post the like the Super Bowl thing like it's the teams that are going to win it is like or the teams is going to it like the colors. Do you believe that?
How would that work? They say they do a script like I don't know, bro. But like every year they say the teams the teams that are going to Super Bowl is predicted. So like they just put out that Super Bowl what is it? 61 or 60 whatever that is. They put it out and it's like greenish. I can't remember what it was, but like they're saying like those are the two teams.
It's a weird coincidence. I just don't know how they would like man. You know how this [ __ ] is, man. It's just
I don't I mean you don't, but you do. I mean, it's I feel like the refs can influence it.
I mean, yeah, but the obviously the players aren't like going to No, I don't I I played all those years. I I never knew anything about anything being rigged. So, I'm not I'm not saying from a player,
but the refs can rig it. I mean, some of these reps are kind of inexplicable, but some but some Yeah. Some of this like I don't know if you you ever be looking at like you say you you bet, right? So, like
the best. Yeah. Some of these games and like times and it be like referees doing certain [ __ ] like
No, the refs are whack. It be like [ __ ] I be seeing somebody on Instagram be like, "Look at this. This game's rigged." And I'm looking and I'm like it do be like crazy little things to be going on in the game. So,
no. So I I felt like they took the Bills game like away from Buffalo and they played the Broncos.
That catch, the catch and then they kept calling these weird pass interferences. I was like, "Yo, you weren't calling that all game."
It was a few catches, too. Wasn't the Rams had one of those, too, right? Yeah. Was that uh
Oh, yeah. The Rams The Rams got hoes, too. Yeah, that catch. That's what I'm saying. Like, and you know, one thing I think they need to change, too. Um, a catch. So, like a catch in field is different from a catch when you score. Like you know what I'm saying? Like they say like if you if you break the plane then it's then it's good but then in the field you got to like maintain it to the ground. Yeah. Like that don't make sense to me. Like if it's going to be one way in the field it got to be one way in the end zone. You know what I'm saying?
Absolutely. So like I know a few times like a guy caught the ball and then something happened and then they don't maintain the catches to the ground and it's a touchdown. But I'm like if that same play was in the field it wouldn't have been a catch. So why is there two different standards for
It shouldn't be this confusing to figure out what a catch is. Yeah. The NFL they got to figure this [ __ ] out. NFL got to do a better job, man. Roger Good deal, man. You making too much damn money, man. Get that [ __ ] figured out.
Yeah, you guys got too big of a budget to keep messing this up, man. Figured it out.
