so Benjamin and I are lifting again you guys are going to join us we'll see how this works out uh Benjamin's doing we're both doing overhead press Benjamin's doing xar press out here and I going to be doing log on the inside and um yeah we're going to talk we're going to talk uh one of the things we're going to talk about is Benjamin when he presses he's got one arm that doesn't straighten as good as the other just like with his deadlifts some of you guys notice his deadlift he kind of swings to the side so Benjamin injured his lower leg when he was a kid and has had muscular imbalances as a result for a long time so we'll be getting stronger but we will be mindful of creating balance where there's injury and so we'll do that and I'll be doing that too cuz I got my own problems but that's what we're going to be talking about here we're going to talk about whatever else comes up so Benjamin's warming up

good nice hold it there for 1 1,000 when you get to the top good bend your knees a little bit and feel stable so when you get to the top own it good quad should be tight glute should be tight and then both elbows really focus on pushing those elbows out holding it there for 1 1,000 for a second cool so he's going to be warming up over there and so he's going to get his new numbers and I work on a log there I am and my dog

num right so I signed up for a straw man show I know I know I know but there's log and it's log cleaning press so I have the extra pleasure of cleaning that up before I do my reps and I didn't count my Viper as a rep so we'll see how long I keep up with that but we're doing threes today what's up man I'm just trying to figure out how

much remember what I said stack it up top on it good everything from your legs to your to your grip everything yep on it good good you have that set up for your next one that's okay cool hey grab that camera you know me sitting R I told you that no sitting in the background yeah see you're working now so whenever you can grab the camera like you should have been setting that up for me be careful when you snap that cuz if you don't have your hand on it it could fall over the camera get it yeah

nice hold it hold it car the camera y you're being a camera guy right now all right that was 155 for me and so come over here these are 531 numbers these are Benjamin's these are mine and so if you want to know how I got these I followed Jim wendler's advice in his 531 book to come up with percentages for different exercises based on the week and each week you go from doing fives to week two I'm on now threes then a 531 and then a de lo all right

buddy good nice nice and tight good fo at the top good good squeeze the quads that helps you too good that's it nice way to stop the right time nice how many was that five nice five huh I'm going to move this yeah good idea let me help you out with that that's a good time to do that put it back so I have a choice to make make I can do this without a belt or I could do it with a belt now pros and cons if I do it without a belt it forces me to use my core to the best of my ability like really engage I'll feel weaker I wear the belt it help draw things in I feel much more powerful So based on that information I'm going to choose belt I'll tell you why because I'll be wearing a belt during the competition so I get to practice with my equipment right I wouldn't want to be at the disadvantage of not wearing a belt uh when everybody else is wearing a belt you see what I'm saying so I got to practice using my belt so I'm going to

do this and we'll see how many times how tight do I want it yeah my weight is been getting smaller still not lean though anyway I got to do both I just got some gas let me let it pass woo I wanted to get five like Benja he

one thing I'm thinking about while I'm going to get my farmer shoes so I need performance shoes for my heavy farmer day so I'm going to actually wear a belt I'm going to put on these but um I was thinking about my son also and one of the things you notice that he's wearing glasses and uh he's nearsighted like his dad e um but I've told them many times to practice not wearing them for various reasons stuff I could talk you know at length about another time but he forgets and I forget too so I'm going to ask him now uh especially since we're going to be outside yo Benja take your glasses off he went inside to get a hat and that's what reminded me cuz his he you know the the light bothers his eyes uh that's why he wears glasses all our sight problems are light problems something I learned trying to heal my own eyes so here we are in a different light better light problems it was ugly before uh yeah so Ben's going to hold

the camera no glasses on and so that offers a different perspective we could talk about another time uh good he's so damn good looking without the glasses like his dad I used to wear glasses just like him uh okay cool cool so this is considered my heavy day so this is about 75% of the weight that I will be using and uh I'm just going a straight away and here's the thing this is about uh 50 50 ft 50 60 feet the competition is like 130 something feet it's a lot of feet it's long distance so I'm building up to going heavy but really the key is going to be able to be to take this long distance so if I could take this around the island which is a little bit more than 30 something feet which was the competition well I haven't done these in so long so I'm really just practicing I'm going to practice with my belt and I'm just going straight away going to put down on the grass Ben up yep when you go be careful I don't want these to

get scuffed up on the cement to make sure you get all the way to the grass before you put it down all right people recognize these colorful plates so see give it a go take my time all right not bad you're up all right you're up um I don't think you need a belt I prefer you don't wear it left fo you to just do it get some breath breathing I see you yawning wake up

[ __ ] good job benj I should have got in front of him I didn't I didn't bring my belt I didn't bring my belt and I'm not wearing my mouthpiece I'm being a bad boy I'm going to take it back just like this let's see

go walk down there I'm going to wait for you down here good even steps long arms good make sure you breathe in nice job hey boys hey there see you later then your matches there thank you the same got your mommy loves you I love her too yeah so do I here's what we got next dips as many reps as possible possible so we're doing one set as many as possible but it's got to be good form so two things that I want from you Benjamin is well long neck and long elbows what do I mean by that whatever you do your neck has to be far away from your shoulders they can't be crunched in that's [ __ ] that's bad form remember we did that drawing the shoulder blades down right the warmup we did draw the shoulder blades down and then at the top nothing halfway like this you got one arm stronger the other you need to get them both stretched up you might not get that many reps if you do it with that type of form you get

it m so don't worry about the form or we don't worry about the rests focus on the form all the way to the top first that's the ideal position and into it and the ne long elbow strong oh go for some on the other

side we down all right is 10 all right dude do the best you can good keep ah stop first thing you did was you started shrugging I need you to bend those elbows don't worry about getting too deep if you can get your I like to get my rib cage to touch this right here like my just the bottom of my rib cage to touch here and go up you can aim for that but you got to do it by bending your elbows not sinking your neck yeah keep the neck long and then focus on the elbows good just focus elbows now yeah good in up good do those neck long work the elbows mhm neck long good let the elbows move first yeah it's tough you're sinking like a turtle good done done done done done so what does Benjamin do do Benjamin can't do it here's what Benjamin is going to do oh listen you're going to get up into the top and be like strong at the top like you've been doing which is good but you're going to just lower

yourself slowly trying to keep your neck long and just lower yourself with your elbows you don't have to go back up you're just going down one time yeah see if you could do that so we're just trying different ways to descend the movement for young Ben good long neck now just work the elbows and the wrists okay let the arms do the work yeah you're looking good good that was it you couldn't go any further good do two do two more like that and then you'll be done so these are eccentrics not great he's doing okay with them well we'll have to find something else good one more some high rep stuff for the elbows you need some high rep up stuff for those triceps yeah we'll get it eventually cool good job today kid thanks
