What this episode is about

A blunt update on Winter Storm 2026, focusing on live storm conditions, power and connectivity challenges, safety reminders, and a running, lighthearted personal vlog from the creator about staying warm, documenting snow totals, wind chill, and a steak cook-in-progress as the storm rages.

Key takeaways

  • Storm-ready content often outperforms production; authenticity beats polish when weather and risk color the story.
  • Umbrellas, taped grilles, and impromptu setups become props—resourcefulness compounds audience engagement and relatability.
  • Comparative humility: real-time blunders (gloves off, temps dropping) humanize creators more than flawless tutorials ever could.
  • Storm lore sells: mix weather drama, food, and roughing-it vibes to fuel shareable moments that outlive the storm.
  • Crowd cues matter: casual updates, safety reminders, and quirky sidebars create trust and keep viewers watching through chaos.

How we doing folks? We are out here weathering the storm. I tried to go live a few minutes ago and everyone was saying the connection is bad. I'm going to try it one more time. I rigged up an umbrella so my stuff wouldn't get wet, but it's still getting very wet. Is this connection better? Let me know if the connection is better. Hopefully you guys are staying safe. See how my steak is looking. Not bad, actually. See what the time's at. -20 currently. Here it is with wind chill 5° F. Take off my glove. Let's see what the steak internal temperature is at.

I feel like I'm Outdoor Boys out here. Sometimes I watch Outdoor Boys and I'm like, damn, this dude's a better YouTuber than me. He's a better dad than me. We live in a humbling universe. All right, let's see what the steak internal temp is at. 116. All right, it's almost done. Couple more minutes.

So, I was saying in the last one, it's been pretty peaceful storm here. It snowed probably 8 in. You can see here on the table, but the wind isn't bad. So, if you have nowhere to be and your power doesn't go out, you're probably not going to die, which is good, right? I heard down south the the ice is making it pretty treacherous down south. So, hoping everybody Whoop! Almost just dropped my phone. Hoping everybody hunkers down, stays safe, and doesn't die. Okay, I try to get Look at bunch of snow on my cutting board.

Got about 8 in here. Nice little 8 iner. Okay, my umbrella I taped up is doing pretty good. Look at that. Not bad, eh? All right, this live stream has made $2. That's awesome. I'll take it. All right, let's get this this grill off or let's get this steak off. I mean here.

All right, here we go. All right, quickly under the umbrella so it doesn't get wet. All right. Got a nice steamy steak, huh? Under an umbrella. Look at that. Not too bad, folks. You either let the storm take it to you or you take it to the storm. That's what I always say. I've actually never said that. That was the first time I've said it. No, it's not a skirt steak. It's a New York strip. So, but thanks for being here, everybody. I'm going to set you guys up. Let's see. How do I do this? I'll set you guys up right here.

That good? Woo! All right, knife is frozen. All right, let's see how this steak turned out. Winter storm 2026 Blizzard Steak. Here we go. You're supposed to wait 5 minutes, but we don't got 5 minutes, people. Oh, pretty good. Maybe slightly overdone, but listen, it's a snowstorm. What are you going to do? Look at that.

10 out of 10. Delicious. Absolutely delicious. I recommend going out grilling yourself up something to eat. Look at this. Cooked in a 8 in snowstorm. Hey, someone says hi from Russia Scott. My wife's Russian, so I've learned a little bit of Russian. My wife, when she's alone with my daughter, only speaks Russian, so my daughter will probably speak fluent Russian.

8° in Michigan. We're sitting at five here. Nice 5°, but I'm under my umbrella. that I taped to the table with scotch tape. Very professional. Got a nice little steak going. My boots are filled with snow.

That's what it looks like. See how much snow's in my boot? There's a lot. But anyway, just wanted to come on, hang out, do a live, enjoy the storm. Hopefully you don't have to be out on the highway. What was the question? And someone said, "Answer the question." What question? Hi, big fan for a million years. Snea. Oh, thanks. I really appreciate the super chats. That's really cool of you guys.

I got to turn the grill off. Hold on. I'm going to warm my hands real quick. Was worried about the storm, but now I'm seeing TCL is monitoring the situation. You feel okay? Yes. Rest easy. I'm monitoring the situation. I could be one of those weather guys that go out there on scene. You're watching Channel 3 Weather with Scott Sharp. It is raining 1 to 2 in an hour and is currently sitting at 5° F. Stay safe out there, everybody. The roads are treacherous. The sky is snowing and it is cold enough for your whole family to freeze to death. So, make sure that doesn't happen and you will be all right. Scott Sharp, Channel 3 weather news.

See, I could do that. I don't have to come up with any ideas to talk about. You just talk about the weather. Easy peasy. This is already freezing on channel 6 news. Scott sharp. Probably wasn't a good idea to use my grill out here. I should cover it as soon as possible.

Being a weather guy would be kind of fun. I like bad weather. I'm sure they buy you a nice coat to wear. That'd be cool. My steak is getting a little cold. It's cold enough. It's going to freeze out here. I'm going to put the cover on my grill real quick so I don't damage it getting it soaking wet. One second. Just enjoy the storm.

Be back in 1 minute. All right, I'm back. I got the grill covered. We are good. Going to eat a little bit more steak. Not getting any better out here. Ice. The knife is frozen. It went from about a 10 out of 10 right when it was off the grill to probably about a four out of 10 now, even a few minutes later.

When I was um when I was a young boy, I did pub Scouts, like Boy Scouts, but for even younger. And one of the um activities is they taught you how to build a snow cave in emergencies because the coldest it can get in a snow cave. The Outdoor Boys, Luke from Outdoor Boys, made a whole career out of making these videos, but the coldest it can get in a snow cave is right around freezing, 32°. And so, if you're out and you got nothing else, technically, if you can dig yourself a snow cave, you're probably not going to freeze to death.

You're going to have a cold night, but it's not going to get well below freezing. And so as cub scouts, we had to go out and build snow caves and sleep in them or for most of the night or something, but it was like pretty miserable. But then another funny story I was thinking about is another lesson that we learned was how to prepare food, like how to catch a rabbit and or how to kill a rabbit and then skin it and cook it and eat it. And then one of the dads that was in one of the kids that was in the Cub Scout troop, his dad owned a bunch of land.

And so then at the end of that unit, you had to go out and try to catch yourself some food and skin it, eat it. And so me and this other kid were together and we didn't end up catching anything and we were starving. And so we just walked to the corn field near the land and picked some corn and ate that instead. So I don't think we passed, but It was something. Retouch is on. What is that? Corn. Yeah, New York's getting slammed right now. I got to bring my steak in the side, I think, in a little bit. It's getting wet and gross out here.

I almost brought Walter out. I should have, but he was nestled up to my wife in the warm apartment. And to bring him out here, I don't know. He would have loved it, but he looked so comfortable. I didn't want to bring him out here. Anyone else got a where the storm's pretty bad where they are? I saw down in Mississippi. It was pretty bad. Working out in Queens right now. I am also in Queens. Coming to you live from Queens, New York. Scott Sharp, weatherman. The status right now five degrees. It's snowing really small little flakes. It's not these big flaky.

That's what I thought it was going to be. It's snowing these kind of fine flakes. It's so cold they're not really sticking to anything. Here's how far it goes down. Well above my shoe. And that's where we're at. Queens Village is rough. We got a little ice. The ice is what's The ice is what is can cause some really bad problems. Just snow. As long as you don't don't have to be anywhere, this isn't too bad. Unless you lose power, but

sleep in Philly. Look at that. 228 people. This is awesome. I got to start going live more often. I was talking to somebody. You guys might even know him. Someone that's more uh let's just say successful on YouTube than I am. And they were saying the content that I do, which this sounds like I'm tooting my own horn, but they said the content that I do is considered, what did they call it? higheffort content where I try to like put a lot of thought into it, but they said you should do you should do lives a bunch because that's considered loweffort content cuz you just hit live, you hit go and it happens no matter what.

And so I got to add I think I'm going to add some live streams to my to my show to my channel. I mean, I'm going to sit here. My butt's going to get wet. But look at this. It's not too bad. Like I said, either you let the storm bring you down or you don't. That's the attitude I like to have. My phone's probably going to break from water damage any moment. So, if I lose you guys, just know I love you any moment. My phone is completely soaked. Are you probably going to deep dive someone? I don't know. Who should I deep dive on?

What What story right now is really interesting? I know. I I was thinking about Chris Watts actually. Someone said it's been a while since I did a Chris Watts update. And I was actually thinking about him the other day because YouTube sent me a thing that January
