Key takeaways
- AI can mimic memories, but real context awareness still beats canned content in conversations.
- Self-deprecating humor lands harder when it's precise; vague 'I’m bad at this' trips over itself.
- Curated guest nerd-outs beat generic small talk; specificity creates contrast and listening momentum.
- Behind-the-scenes chatter reveals industry dynamics—powerful material if you mine it without naming names.
- Surprise meta: discussing 'prequels' and young versions cleverly reframes identity and future branding.

Pretty Little. Hello. Hello. Hi, Fortune. It's Tig. Tig, how are you? I'm great.
You look good. Do you want to introduce everyone? Yeah. This is um the Joe Rogan Experience. Is that what his show is called? The Joe Rogan Experience, I believe. So, yeah.
Okay. Yeah. So, that's a real curveball. People didn't realize they were subscribed.
This sounds like an NPR show. Hello. Well, welcome. Welcome. That's right. Hi. We're just hanging out. Do you want me to say welcome to the Hands of Pods? Pretty Little Episode.
Oh, yes. That's what we were missing. That's sick over there. That's fortune over there. What if Joe Rogan had pretty little episodes
all of a sudden? Yeah. I don't think his listeners would be into Pretty Little.
I don't think so. No, I don't either. Um, where are you? Are you home? I'm home in LA. Yeah, this was a a rare weekend uh at home, but I was I'm filming right now. So
Oh, how's that going? It's going really good. Good. It's a whirling dervish cuz it's a a big movie in there that they're doing in two months. M
um and the four of us are in like almost every scene. So it's every day it's just like
so many pages and lots of it's uh one one of the few projects I've had where there's very little downtime. You know, normally on movies you're like sitting around forever and
Yeah. waiting on things to get set up and lights. It is. This one moves. Yeah. Well, you're one of the stars of it, right? So
that would make you busier. That's true. Yeah, that too. But also our director is Eva Longoria.
Um, and she is very very prepared. Um, and and uh like very like she knows exactly what she wants.
Exactly. Yeah. So that's nice. Yeah. Well, cool. It's a lot of girl power. Yes. You got to have that. You can't make movies without girl power.
That's right. Well, it's funny because the golf show I just did was a lot of dudes, so it was very
u manheavy and this one's all l a lot of ladies. So, mad powerim Kim gave us some skin care. Um
I thought she looked good. Thank you. Some skin care machines for our pretty skin and some Skims loungewear. So, you know, I'm just I'm being my most pretty little lady self on this shoot than I ever have.
And what are face machines? Um, like you remember my vibrator for my face? Fortune.
Remember this? Fortune. Fortune. It's like something like this but way more high-tech.
Okay. Okay. And it's got lights and things and you put it on your face. Did you show that to Kim? And was she like "Girl no."
No, she didn't even know I had anything. Oh, okay. But she discovered this machine that she was really into.
Yeah. I mean, you know, there's all those It's just like you roll you roll your face with them. I don't know.
You roll your face with them. I've got to actually YouTube how to use how to use this.
Maybe Kim can do a YouTube video. She did tell us to let her know if we needed her to show us how to work it. And I think it actually would be pretty hilarious to have her showing me how to use beauty care machines. And you didn't stop her and say, "You mean work it and then start working it?"
That's right. So, wait, tell me, are you getting a question from Kim? Um, I will work my way up to that. I'm still getting to know her.
It sounds like No, I don't I don't like to ask right off the bat, you know? I like to
I like to work work my way there. Ease into the sequel. Uhhuh. Yeah. You're going to ask her for the sequel. Is that right? Or the prequel.
Exactly. Is there a Is there room for a prequel to this movie? Maybe. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Mhm. There's a prequel to everything. There should be a handsome prequel. Oo. Who would that be?
Who would play us? Yeah. Young version. There. There is a young version of me in this movie. It's kind of a trip.
Who is it? Anyone I know? No. Oh. like young young like I think like 615 or something maybe.
That is adorable. I know. Yours would be um someone who looks like you and Tom Cruz.
Yeah. Who is that? Who are the young versions of the three of us? That's a really interesting I'd be young Sheldon.
For me. For me. Yeah, that is hilarious because his the guy Ian who plays him, his mother showed me a picture
of Ian where everyone thought Ian looked like Tom Cruz. See? Wow, you're on to something. Okay, so wrong gender, but Okay, so Ian and then
just throw some glasses on. Also, by the way, it just dawned on me it was the wrong gender. I was like, "Okay, yeah, Ian could play a young Tig." Okay. And then who is a young you?
I don't know. Who's a young May? A young May would be I don't know who the young actors are right now.
Could it be Thomas? Thomas without the stash. May I know that's we need someone younger
cuz this would be like what early 20s late or maybe we get a male handsome. Yeah,
whatever. We can figure this out later. Mine would be Chunk from the Goonies. Thomas could be a young me since he has the mustache.
That's true. You do rock a good fake mustache. It's not fake fortune. Have you been um touring a lot?
No, I had to unfortunately reschedule a bunch of shows because of this movie. I um
You've been touring on the weekends? I did do a weekend of shows, Valentine's weekend.
Um because those they the movie gave me the okay to do those. Yeah. And then I'll do San Diego in early March cuz I can drive down there. M.
But then my tour will resume the beginning of April. Love it. And then I'll be on the path to trying to get ready to film another special back like late fall.
Okay. And then um I'm going to be recovering hopefully from my eyelid surgery. That's right. right after the um Oscar
and that I'll be um taking several weeks off. I mean, you know, hopefully I can do things like podcast, but I'm not going to
wear just wear sunglasses. Yeah. Yeah, we won't care. And uh real mustaches. That's right.
Well, I love it. I love you, too. Should we get into our uh questions? Let's do it.
Hi, handsome pod. Uh my name is Karen and I'm from Houston, Texas. So last year was pretty rough for me and for a lot of people around me. So this year I decided to start being more intentional about experiencing and creating joy every single day. Um a lot of my friends have asked for examples of ways to do this. So my question for each of you is what are some ways that you intentionally bring joy into your life or some ways that you would like to? Karen, good question. It is definitely the time to try to wrangle up some joy, right?
We need some joy wrangling. Well, I mean, last year was rough for me as well. So, I get you. I get you girl. Um, I think for me when I was really going through it, uh, especially the earlier part of last year, I started to con reconnect with friends more. Um, I started reaching out to people more. Um, and that was really nice. That was a good way to like just stay connected and not isolate. Um, and that helped me stay in a better mood. And I would also like if I was just had a lot of thoughts on my mind, we talked about before, I would go find a bench somewhere like in a park. Um, sometimes I had my dog with me. That was really nice. So we would just sit there chilling and watch, you know, kind of people watching and just sort of like not on my phone, just sort of being and and just uh trying to just appreciate things a little bit and not get too sucked into the to the like thoughts of things not going well.
Mhm. Breakfast burritos helped. Love those. That's good. Mhm. What about you, Tay? I mean, you know, I had a real awakening, I think, when I was working on the documentary. Um, and I was living in Toronto and I was away from my family. Um, I just started to really feel like, gosh, what am I choosing to do with my time here while I'm watching a friend
want for every last second, right? And then how and I I know I've talked about it on the podcast, but how to find that balance of like
working and doing these things I want to do. Yeah. but also really prioritizing my number one uh focus, which is Stephanie and the boys and our little kitty city. Um, and so I think that I mean I I hate to sound cheesy, but I can't pretend like it's anything other than this, but when I get to go hang out with Stephanie and the boys
and just taking a walk through our little village in our neighborhood and going to eat or the bookstore or um and um we also do reading time at the end of the day where everyone reads for like 15 minutes and then talks about
what they read those little moments I just am and then I know I've talked about this but even um in the mornings when Stephanie and I have our coffee and then we take our morning walk together those are the things that I desperately missed when I was gone all the time and the level of joy that those and you know funny enough in the documentary. Andre has a poem called the little things.
But that is what it is. It is those little tiny things that like you're saying, sitting on a bench.
Yeah. Spending time with your dog or your mother or whoever it is, calling your friends. Um I really, you know, I it's what it is.
Like utter joy. Utter joy. And in those hangout moments, getting to experience our son's silliness. You know, Max does incredible impressions
and we all sit around and he does impersonations of friends of theirs, friends of ours, people from TV. And so that's just really, really fun to just sit and laugh and connect with everyone. Like just the best.
Mhm. And a pile of kitties lying around, you know, and a cute little Pomeranian.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Checking All State first could save you hundreds on car insurance. That's smart. Not packing my headphones when I go on the road. Now I'm on the airplane unwillingly overhearing a conversation about toenail fungus. Yeah, checking first is smart. So check All State first for a quote that could save you hundreds. You're in good hands with All State. Potential savings vary subject to terms, conditions, and availability. All State North American Insurance Company and affiliates, Northbrook Illinois.
But man, listen to or read Andrea's poem, The Little Things. Mhm. I think it it really puts some stuff into perspective.
Yeah. Well, I think in general, too, like my my mom being getting sick, right, when my life was falling apart
really put like all of that into perspective, too. Like it I was like so sad for so
long and just everything was just kind of like spiraling and then she got sick like right at the same time my relationship was coming to an end.
Yeah. And it just kind of put me in this other orbit. Yeah. Of just like okay you gota you only have so much time with people.
Yeah. Like let's let's not wallow in in the in the bad stuff. let's let's focus on
time together and good things and yeah, that stuff definitely puts things in perspective.
Yeah, there's so many little celebratory moments you can have in your dayto-day um that I highly recommend getting into.
Yeah. And also jams, putting on some music. Also jams like grape jams. Also jams as in jellies.
Yeah. Like use those little shoulder shimies for sure. Yeah. Yeah. That's what that's what we think. Does Karen have an answer?
Let's hear what Karen said. Yeah. Um every morning I have a mandatory five minute dance party. Um I have committed to trying one brand new thing every month and I have been documenting my journey of trying 50 new hot dogs, which is my favorite food to share that joy with the world. Okay. Thanks. Love you all and love the podcast.
50 new hot dogs. 50 new hot dogs. All right. I mean, how does she just casually say that? Like, we're going to,
you know, just like, yeah, of course you got to try 50 new hot dogs. I didn't know there were more than five hot dogs.
I mean, different places, I think. Like, whatever. I I would assume you're buying the same five different hot dogs at different restaurants.
They're just making them different. I like that she has a dance party. Yeah. Do you know what also puts me in a good mood?
Oh, you want to guess? Okay. No, no, no. I don't need to spend time guessing. What is it?
Pink fuzzy slippers. That feels like it could go to the same tune as Big Chunky Scissors.
I forgot how that tune goes. Big chunky scissors. Yeah. So, let's do it with slippers. Big fuzzy pink slippers. I got my big pink fuzzy slippers on. We're gonna have some fun.
Did you purchase those for No. Did Did you purchase those for yourself or did somebody say, "I know what she wants."
No, this was from um Kim Kardashian. Okay. These are skims, big pink fuzzy slippers. And do they only come in pink?
I don't know. Okay. But I am wearing them. She trying to fem you up? Yeah. I'm a real fem [ __ ] now.
Yeah. Yeah. I shuffle around silently in our house and slippers and Mhm. terrify Stephanie with every turn cuz she does not hear me. They're like they're like I did not want to draw attention to how big I can't believe how big
I mean you how dare Kim make a slipper that big pink. It's cl It's like clown shoe slippers.
It should be army fatigue um design rather than pink. It's pretty funny, but I live by myself, so who cares?
Yeah, nobody cares. Next question. Hey, handsome. My name is Sarah. I am originally from Vancouver. I'm actually Calgary, but I lived in Vancouver for a long time in Canada. And I actually live in San Francisco right now.
And my 30th birthday is at the end of February. and I'm going with my new husband, which is very exciting.
Nice. And we're going to go to LA, which I've never been to before. And since all three of you live in LA, I was wondering if you had any recommendations. We're going for basically a long weekend. Um, yeah, please, please send them my way. Um, I'd love to hear it. And thanks. Love you guys and love the pod.
Love you, too. I got my LA hat on. You really do. And you got your big pink slippers.
Well, Sarah, did Sarah say when she was coming? Well, at the end of February, if you would pay attention to
right now. Uh-huh. And if Sarah I hope she gets this in time. Even spends half a second listening to this podcast, she would know my number one recommendation is what?
Um, hold on. Oh, wait. Mhm. Your number one recommendation would be number one.
Number one would be I've said it many times and clearly you and Sarah don't listen to the podcast.
What is it? Do you want me to tell you to go to Largo for a show, to go to the beach, to go to a vegan restaurant.
Sure. All of those things. But number one is go the hop on hop off bus. Oh that's right. You love those. Just like my mom.
I love them. And you can laugh at me all you want. But guess who loves them now? Stephanie and our little cubs. Because
it's pretty a great way to see the city. It's so great. Especially if you have a few days. Get on that top of the double-decker. there's no roof and somebody just drives you around and you have the option to plug in headphones to hear the history of the town and the uh you know sites that you're passing or don't put them on at all and just chill and have a peek and
enjoy the ride and then you'll see oh I want to get back to that area I like this spot I want to this looks cute and then you take little notes and you go back
uhhuh so that's what I suggest for the millionth time. That is actually a great suggestion because LA is massive. It is a big city and it's very spread out. So, um, a bus would not be a bad way to hit the hot spots.
No. Um, I would So, yeah, I think Tig's suggestion is great. It's the correct answer.
Um, if you're a hiking person, a lot of people love Fryman Canyon. No, not Fryman. That's more for local. Griffith uh either Griffith Park hike or Laurel. Is it Laurel Canyon?
Runion Canyon. Runion. Run. No, no, no. Go to Griffith Park and then after your hike, go to the Trails Cafe and get the vegan sandwich. Oh my lord.
Oh my lord. That is a good suggestion. LA is a big hiking city, so a hike if you're an outdoorsy kind of gal. The beach is always great. Uh Hermosa Beach is really beautiful. That's a little bit more of a drive.
Um but Santa Monica is the closest one. What else? Uh we have lots of entertainment out here. You can go to if you want to see like Largo always has good comedians.
Dynasty Typewriter. Dynasty Typewriter. If you want a bigger, they have like, you know, the sports teams if you're into sports. There's so many different sports teams here.
Uh there's a lot to do actually. There really is. Sarah, you're you're going to be fine. You're going to be just fine.
Hopefully we got that to you just in time. Hopefully you're on the plane right now headed to LA listening to this.
Hopefully you're on the hop on hop off bus right now listening to this. Now, uh, the rest of you people listening, please submit your questions and advice requests to speakpipe.com/handsomepod. All right. And, um, also check out my tour dates on tnotaro.com. Uh, I have local LA shows as well as uh, other um, nationwide tour dates. Also, apologies. Some have been cancelled or rescheduled, but hang in there with me.
That's right. Same here. I'm on tour San Diego in a couple weeks and then the rest of my tour starts back up in April and all those dates will be um that I had to reschedule. I'll be getting to and it'll be so fun.
But, uh we appreciate you guys and uh until next time, keep it pretty handsome. Checking All State first could save you hundreds on car insurance. That's smart. Not checking that your piñata's full of candy before letting the kids have at it, on the other hand, never fun. You're about to be contending with a whole pack of disappointed 10-year-olds. Yeah, checking first is smart. So check All State first for a quote that could save you hundreds. You're in good hands with All State.
