How are you? You look great. Thank you. Thank you very much. Yeah, this is a fantastic outfit you have here.

Thanks, Jimmy. I'm actually jealous of this outfit, though. I could never wear it. It wouldn't work. It would it would be unacceptable in in my circles. But here, it looks sort of like your skyline.

Yeah, you look like the night sky. You do. You're filled with stars. You're not the first gentleman to have said that. Let me tell you.

I'm wondering. I don't even know if you're aware of this. Well, I know you're aware of part of this, but first of all, I want to thank you for filling in for me and guest hosting the program over the summer, this summer. And last summer, so you filled in for one night here and this I think it was this morning we learned you were nominated for a GLAD award for hosting that show.

I know. Is that hilarious? Thank you. Thank you. It's a one for one. That's pretty solid,

right? I know. It's so lovely. Yeah. I wonder if I wonder who will get to keep the trophy because

you feel to juke it out. Yeah. I feel like, you know, it's our show. We should have it, right?

Or maybe hosting that night. It was you hosting and yet the name is still Jimmy Kimmel,

but the name on the desk that night was Alan It was. It was. It's going to be interesting to see if you win. If maybe we can get two of us.

I win. If one of us or both of us win. If we win. Yeah. It be Maybe we could split it in half,

but chop it down the middle. Yeah. Maybe we could split it. That would be the Solomonesque way to do.

Yeah. Yeah. When you were here, you uh interviewed the cast of the Fantastic 4 of the movie. Yes.

Which is the hardest thing to do, I think. Well, they were pretty jet-lagged. Oh, that too.

Yes, they were cute, but they were a bit tired. Well, just even interviewing a group of people is like feeding

pigeons. Sort of layers. There were sort of sort of, you know, the the There are chairs behind

the things that have baseball team much. Yeah. Raft. Yeah. Rafters. And then you have to worry about people being left out. You want to make sure you get everyone gets a little bit of time.

It's like hering cats. Yeah, it is. But it was uh But yes, there were the poor things. It's like those those press tours on those big films. You go around the world in a week and then so you arrive back here and you're just Oh, I nearly swear. You're just bamboozled.

Yeah, we get them. Well, you know, because you are part of the new Avengers movie playing crawler.

So, and that that whole cast is part of Yes. All all of them were are in it, too.

So, you went right away and then shot with them there. Yeah. Uh, but what was funny was uh the my first um um scene with Pedro. He hurt his neck and had to go home.

So really I broke Pedro. Mr. Fantastic hurt his neck. I thought he was made out of rubber. That doesn't make any sense at all.

Did you hurt his neck? Were you fighting with him at the time? No, I wasn't fighting. No. No.

I was just sort of being Were you fighting alongside him? I Are you trying to get into

I would like to know a little bit of something. what's going on in the movie. Yeah. No, no, it wasn't. We're just in We're just together in a scene

and I wasn't fighting. No, but And also, but he's got these big long arms and everything. So, it's quite complicated.

And you got the tail though, right? I do have a tail. Um but I don't but I didn't but I didn't have my tail on at the time.

Yeah, you didn't have your tail on at the time. Maybe if you had your tail on his arms on,

he wouldn't have broke his neck, you know. Um do comic book pants. He got cupped. Do you know that thing, the cupping?

Yeah. You got You showed me a couple of nights later at the hotel. Have you had that happen?

I haven't. And I I sort of think I'm one of these people who should. I do enjoy, you know, an alternative therapy, but I It looks like Have you seen it when they do the big

I've had it done one time and I had spots on my body for like a month or something. Yeah. There's big It creates big suction spots up like that. Yeah.

Yeah. You're polka-dotted for like a while after. That's what I I am all for it, but it's the aesthetic part of it.

I don't think it does anything. I'll be honest with you. I think it's an excuse for the massage therapist to go take a break.

Anyway, we're getting off track. Um, now that you're in this world, this Marvel, Sony, whatever world you're you're in, um, do you

are people like chasing you around now for autographs and that sort of thing? Well, yeah. I mean, well, it's the thing I've noticed that's a new phenomenon in general. No, I just is is that Well, because I did I did Nightcrawler, you know, a long time ago.

And, uh, but now there's these things called Funko Pops. Yes. Do you know them? The little boxes you sort of wobbly head

bane of my own. Oh, really? Really? That's the thing people want you to sign Well, they have they Yes, but it's not the actual books. They have it sort of flat and there's like about 12 of them in a thing like this and little vinyl things and so you sign the little plastic thing that I guess they put into the box. I'm not quite sure but it means that instead of just one photo in the old days you know there's a photograph you would say like 12 vinyl things and and

and you will stand there and do it and sign all of them. I mean sometimes sometimes yeah what's

just I just think oh they're bloody Funko Pops again just you know I know I quite liked old photos cuz you're like oh there's me in a film that oh there's me in this film. No it's just a vinyl thing that's going to be attached to a box with a wobbly head of you.

Yeah. And it's going right on eBay. Right. Right. Yes. Yeah. I mean I'm all for com but but you know where's the fun in it? What is the uh most unusual thing someone has asked you to sign?

Well, once years and years and years ago, I was making a film in it's actually nearly 20 years ago. I did this film in Minnesota and it's because it's about to be the 20th anniversary. It's called Sweetland in which I play a 1920s motan farmer and father of 10.

I can butcher up when I have to, Jimmy. And h so we I was I was there and my wife was played by Alex Kingston. you know, Alex who used to be in ER and she and I were there and we were uh we were at this party the midway through the film party. It was in this very rural place in Minnesota and this lady said to us, "Oh, are you is it must be very boring for you, you know, after your New York life to come here." And we were like, "Oh, no. We love it here. Tomorrow we're driving an hour to go to Target and then later we may be going to a restaurant." And I heard myself say, I thought, "I've got to get out of here."

And so we next day we drove the hour to the target and it was sort of it really caused a bit of a scene and this lady came up to me and went, "I can't believe you're here." And I went, "I can't either." And then this other lady said, "Would you sign this for my brother?" I was Yes. What? Yes. And I signed the thing. I said, "What is this?" She went, "Oh, it's the prescription for my brother's pink eye." I was like, "Ah." So I think that that is definitely up there. I've signed a couple of boobs and a few and a few bums in my life.

You were just in Las Vegas, I understand. I was, you know, I grew up in Las Vegas and so I'm interested in what you're working on a play about Liberace.

I'm directing a I run this theater now in Scotland Festival Theater and so this summer it's the first year of my programmed work and I'm directing uh a play about Liberace.

So you made a pilgrimage to Las Vegas. Yes. cuz the to well the Liberace foundation are there obviously and they kind of you know they you have to sort of get their blessing to to do so I went to this house

that is where the Liberace collection I've got the pictures here now you are now was this Liberace's house

uh no it was a house it's actually called Thriller Villa because it was Michael Jackson's house

oh so you come in there's huge pictures of Michael Jackson and then Liberace Show.

Wow. And then you go downstairs and there's all Liberace's things. It's amazing.

Okay. So, here we have um that's me. That's Jonathan who's the man from the Liberace Foundation. He was asking me questions.

And there's Lee on the loads of these. Wow. Were they small or how big were the outfits? Did they seem small to you?

No, actually. They seemed sort of I mean, he didn't I mean Well, they're a bit sort of floaty. Do you know what I mean? They're sort of like wearing a cape. And

did you ever meet Liberace? I did not. Did you? I Yeah, kind of. Um, it looks like I'm meeting him there, but I Oh, there's my dog. There's Lala.

When I was six When I was 16 years old, Here's another one. I was 16 years old. I was at the um Oh, no. Wait, that's Donald Trump's Sorry. I don't know how that got in there. When I was 16 years old, I was at the Mayfair Market, which is a supermarket on the Las Vegas strip, and I saw Liberace in the supermarket wearing a hairet and buying meat.

True story. Is that a euphemism? it. Nope. He was buying meat. That was literally. And then finally, we have

This is my favorite thing. It says liberty's cookbook. I don't have my specs on. I have to go.

It says what? Hundreds of delicious recipes for you from his seven dining rooms.

That's right. That's why he had to go buy more meat. He's cooking hundreds of delicious recipes.

The the the sort of expeller things ARE ALL PIANOS. OH, THAT IS BEAUTIFUL. He's unbelievable. Liberace.

I I'm well obviously I'm directing this play so I'm kind of researching a lot but I'm really fascinated by him and just uh everything about him and just his legacy and you know he was such a pioneer in many many ways.

He was and his signature is I believe we actually have um this is Liberace's what he would sign. Now imagine getting this on a Funko Pop.

There would be no room. Look at that. How great is that's the best signature in the history of celebrities.

That is tremendous. commits. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we'll talk about your big hit show, The Traders. Alan is here with us. We'll be right back.

WE ARE BACK WITH ALAN He is the host of season 4 of The Traders, which premieres tomorrow. Tomorrow. And people are absolutely For those who haven't seen the show, explain the idea of the program.

A lot of celebrities and reality stars go to a castle in Scotland where I play this person who's sort of this layered in crazy costumes. LA my dogs in it and I make them do this psychological torture and make them fall into very cold locks and each night the there's three traitors are chosen. I tap them on the thing and then they they kill a person not literally of course and then also they banish a person. So, it's it starts with quite a lot of people, but it goes down very quickly. And if the traitors uh it's actually great because you have you get to watch people being forced to lie and and also we know who the the baddies are from the start, right? Yeah.

It's a very it's sort of a psych sociological psychological Who do you have on the show this season?

Oh, uh we have um Lisa Rena. Lisa Rena. Uh we have uh Darinda's got she she got put out straight away last time and so she's she's coming back.

She brought her back. Okay. Brought her back from the dead. Uh you have a real some real housewives. Quite there's four real housewives this time. Porsha and um

the Kelsey mom Travis and Donna she's such a sweet lady. Yeah. Was she Did she enjoy her experience?

I hope so. Um, there's a really cute moment when I at the in the first episode when like I've I asked them all and sort of interviewed them. I said and I said, "How are you how are you feeling, Donna? How are you feeling, Donna?" And she went, "A little weird." Like that.

It's so cute. Were you at all intimidated by the idea of of perhaps having to banish Taylor Swift's future mother-in-law from a I mean, that could get you killed. Well, the thing is a lot of the I I wasn't but the the contestants the the players talk about it quite a lot,

right? Because you they will feast on you. They will swarm. They will attack you.

Yeah. That's I'm a bit worried about the Swifties. What they'll do if we So, uh so that's quite fun. It's another added layer of menace.

Now, this outfit that we mentioned earlier would be a great outfit for you to wear tomorrow because you're getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame tomorrow.

This is a fun thing, right? Pretty good. Yeah. It's It's like nuts. Do you know where the star will be located?

I do. It's I I know who I'm next to. I'm next to Tab Hunter. Uhhuh. Humphrey Bogart, uh Steve Irwin Croy. That's a great crook. And um uh Johnny Cash.

Oh, Johnny Cash. Wow. That's a pretty good picture to be on. Yeah, it's it's I think it's on Hollywood and Vine. I'm not I don't I'm not quite sure, but I I thought I didn't You don't get to choose, you know, it's just the lucky.

Yeah, they put you where they want to put you. I just I actually had a sort of weird fantasy that I wanted to be in the kind of skankiest kind of

You're not far off. That might be the most famous intersection in in at least in the country. I don't know.

Hollywood and Vine. Yes. Yeah. Hollywood and Vine. It's a good place to be. Well, yeah. Until you find somebody sleeping on you,

right? Or like dogs will pee on me. So for those who don't know how it works, a bit a crowd will gather. Your fans will come to see it happen and then you have a couple of people that you choose to speak. And who do you have speaking for you?

I have speaking for me Monica Lewinsky and Brian Cox. Now that is a very last interesting and seemingly very random. Now Brian Cox of course was Logan Roy on Succession. He's this great actor. He he directed you in a film. He directed me a film which actually I'm going to on Sunday it's closing the Palm Springs Film Festival called Glenn Rothen. So we play brothers in it and he directed it and I've known him for centuries.

You have? He seems to look absolutely great. He's a darling. He's a real hoot. And how do you know Monica Winston? You know Monica because we met at a party years and years ago like uh you know uh quite sort of early on in her uh being known and there was a a party that uh she was invited to and we just got on like a house on fire and it was just I've it was it was crazy like it was the days when you know it was like it was like leaving the party with Elvis. it was just people were like

and uh and so I've I've seen her, you know, over the years be kind of reclusive and try and sort of find her way and then have this incredible resurgence and become this amazing, you know, powerhouse woman and uh have be so successful and it's a really beautiful thing. And when he looked, I'll be honest. I looked at the piece of paper that said uh was talking about the star and it said Cox, Lewinsky, and on the

And I thought maybe knowing you cuz I remember your cologne. Yes. I thought maybe you did that on purpose. Is that not No, that's

I just can't help it. So yeah, my my I used to have this fragrance and it was called coming. I remember that. They had uh the and the the body lotion was called coming all over. And my my favorite thing I still have these cuz it's a long time ago, but is that the soap was called coming in a bar.

Well, you are going to fit in very well on Hollywood and it's great to have you here. Thank you to be here. Season 4, The Traders premieres ON PEACOCK TOMORROW. ALAN EVERYBODY. We'll be right back with Taylor.
