ahead of ourselves because it was the jared episode right i believe it was and not sort of get ahead of ourselves but the reason why it was so easy to sort of quote as you said start with razor glass in that episode is because it's at the forefront of the culture absolutely yeah and that is what this series of episodes is about say that say that and keep saying that well if you don't know um we've been sort of building up to it for a while now for a couple months at least oh yeah we are presenting you the readers the publicists with the 300 songs of the great global song book what does that mean what does it mean to be on this book be in the great global song it means that when you were released whether that was by streaming or even on a record years ago yeah you had international impact instantly this is the great global song book this is not the national song no last coach racist has no national pride it's
actually roller coaster number 16. has no national pride nationalism will destroy us all and it's destroying us currently yeah and now but speaking sort of about the world um one of the most important things in the world is music i think you can agree cheers to that cheers to that and absolutely let's just say that the whole community the whole lost college expanded community is here we have you know hans we have anna we have doug and you know tonight it's just family tonight it's just family we've been hearing the calls oh yeah everyone's saying we want lost to do culture catch up yes we hear you we'll do you one even better well do you 300 even we'll do you 300 even better culture catch up how about how about for all time for all time how about for music of all time how about you wanted lost coach to sort of get together in the room look each other dead in the eyes and talk culture you're going to
get [ __ ] in your ass you're going to get [ __ ] in your ass let me just say it's vibes and the vibe is different we we say this every time we meet back up again in person it's just not the same over zoom it's just not the same over zoom and uh one of the one of the great things about this is that not only can bone and i be together but like we said we have the lost coach expanded family here and they're all going to be making cameos today which they don't even know but they're all going to come in and they're all going to tell us at some point not right now because i saw you get up doug and i didn't say no no he went to go grab a coffee he made a pot well don't come in yet because i didn't say you didn't say either right i did not make a peep so he was not invited he was not invited in so later when he's invited and he can come in and he can sort of say what last coach he thinks has done for him his career uh you know
and really the international community at large absolutely i think we should waste no time i well and before we sort of get into it there is a twist there's a twist there's a lot there's a classic lost culturist's twist um with this 300th episode not only are we presenting the great global songbook the song book is a list and the list is a countdown it's a countdown there is a number one song of all time in the world and there is a number 300 song in the world and it will be it we have meticulously gone through this lesson and it's an honor to be on the list it's an honor to be on the list there is no such thing as being on the list and being a failure of a piece of culture right of a song exactly you are in the great global song book this is something celebrate it celebrate it this is people will be singing this for generations to come the children will be singing the songs at graduation
weddings funerals children will be singing the songs at weddings at funerals you know here's the thing too um when you when you get when you if you are an artist on the list and you want to reach out to us please do it through channels please do it through proper channel yeah do it through proper channels because the dms you know it's so overwhelming it's so overwhelming for us oh my god you gotta go through your requests so let's just say like i'm going through the list right now donna summer if you're out there you have some songs on the list go through channels with your channels please whatever that means yeah whatever that means to you and i think we should start um you know right before we we hit play bowen yeah um doug what he said something to us yeah he said yeah i'm just reading the quote me too he came into this room earlier and said the flow can dictate the feel the flow can dictate the feel that's one
of the hottest things he's ever said it really was sort of jarring and i think in the moment i sort of like responded in like a nagging way because i think i was scared at how aroused i was yeah when you when you have fear over the arousal when it feels forbidden when it feels forbidden that can be some of the hottest moments in your life that's actually really culture number 50. when it feels forbidden that can actually be some of the hottest moments in your life you know um what does that mean to you the flow can dictate the feel i think what he was trying to say was that you know we don't have to feel like we're spending too much time or not enough time on any song the flow can dictate the feel you know we are going to be sitting here for six hours yeah that's another thing we're gonna be here all day and maybe we're even gonna have some surprise guests maybe some surprise yes maybe not too many maybe not too few
maybe none maybe none we'll see we really created a playground a sandbox for different people to come through and we play and build castles yes so because that's what happens in a sandbox really you get into it and you build a castle and so i think that all we're really trying to do with this is build the castle that is the 300. well i think i'm being completely honest i looked through this list this morning yeah we've built a monument this will stand the test of cultural time this is a canon list this is canon this is like the top 200 moments of culture this is canon i i feel like this list by itself is its own moment in culture history we may have to make we may have to make a new list well what do you say i say let's begin because guess what to quote a famous person my ass been on pause yeah but i'm about to hit i'm about to press play and let's press play what do you say um play podcast being a visual medium i just
totally mind hitting play a button which everyone loves okay and with that we have number 300. someone to watch over me ella fitzgerald one of the most incredible communicators of story and music of all time absolutely longing um the first time you know one of the only times the word monogram is used in the song one of gershwin's finest best songs i mean effortlessly performed by ella whose vibrato is singular you know she just and and just the last notes of the song you'll never forget me that was sort of my ella i was that was beautiful yeah so she uh congratulations ella that you ain't you've just eeked the 300th spot you made the list number 299 blurred lines the glee cast version glee cast i mean this was this elevated material this elevated the material because the material the the source material is you know a little a little dubious let's just say it's a little thick it's a little thick okay
it's so to speak so to speak and so does be spoken so to be spoken but to have the artists of their generation the glee cast be able to make it palatable presentable appropriate for a fox network for kids yeah kids kids now were singing about the blurred lines you know what i mean kids were singing it it's not and it's not kids bop no no no it's it's it's glee cats it's adults doing kids teens for kids that's not kid's boss no it's very different you're passing down something inter through intergenerational access absolutely and i think that blurred lines is an important if you just read the lyrics sometimes on some of these songs if you really want to just internalize a song just read the lyrics and then be like understand the kids of course should hear this absolutely palatable number 298 venus lady gaga i mean transport me why don't you why don't you another galaxy or the or or our own solar system well
to up for debate up for debate you you what you might say venus is not in this galaxy we don't share a galaxy with venus well honey i'll tell you what song is in my heart venus venus you remember years ago me you and dave was going to karaoke in williamsburg yes we did but do you remember the time we performed venus at the people's impromptu yes oh my we had different memories see the fact that we have different indelible memories of venus because we i remember the time you and i did at a karaoke in williamsburg with michael hartney sitting in the corner yes hearing this song for the first time going what the hell is this and were we not the purveyors of joy in that moment girl we were we were like you know importing you know when you meet a white lady in los angeles who sells artisanal vinegar or whatever our vinegar was venus yes we were the people who were like let me show you this beautiful product before we move on
favorite planet neptune i'm gonna say jupiter but i also have a soft spot for mercury mars and circle okay number 297 i will always love you whitney houston would you say this is a low placement for this song that is considered by many to be one of the greatest of all time i think people will be surprised by its placement but i do not think it is a low placement because it is where it is in the list and that means that's where it's falling in the canons where's the surprise coming from then mama i guess people would people i think have really built this song up and let's just say it should be built up it's on the list and dolly parton god created god created and i think god was really speaking through dolly when he when she wrote this dolly was channeling was channeling the muse aka god yeah then god is the muse that's actually role culture number 99 god is the muse first of all and i think that i think we
can all agree yeah that when whitney houston sang the song it really it got more famous i would say so but there are 296 songs that are better than this according to this song book canonically we should also say this was not up to us this is not up to us no we did not decide where things landed um i'm sorry can i ask i think you might have more visibility into this process was it was it the committee was was megan involved i think that um there was a blue ribbon panel yes of uh megan mccain and abby huntsman and they were the two persons an even number of people yeah in case in case they would just assume that they would not be no ties they would be in unanimous agreement and you know it's being two people mutual agreement exactly because usually what happens is megan sort of says we're doing this and abby sort of says maybe not and then megan says and then they do that thing so um that's
sort of the way the list was decided and we merely received the list and with all that in mind just know that i will always love you does land at 297. that was an amazing essence of meghan mccain like what you don't have to say you know you know what would you say my essence like in um in a sound is no no you can't use any words i i can do you first do me because i was going to go for you i was going to go hmm yeah and i feel that that's so i have the more it's more a little bit more like rougher and yours is more analytical it's more but sometimes people love the rougher and with and and with that's in that spirit yes let's get number 296 i'm gonna get you a good green version shania twain this is the country version of i'm gonna get your good the green version what makes it green is there a synesthesia there like um i'm pleased that you asked so they she has two versions of this yeah and i guess
we'll see if the other version made it on yeah this is green version so green version being country version she released two versions of her album up one was more country and was more popular because she was sort of one of the original crossover women absolutely the greenest country because of the the hills green grasses and grasses i see yeah so you can imagine the nature of course country music is very much made in nature outside i didn't know that oh yeah yeah yeah yes so they report they record outside well yes so with country music it it's more about you know hay barley horses fields all things that happen outside so you have to sort of be outside in order to sing correctly country you know what i mean i totally understand for example the song um this kiss this kiss was performed outside uh-huh and when you sing it inside try it's no it doesn't sound right it's the way you let me know
i wasn't enunciating i don't know what i don't know what's going on it didn't well it's because you were inside that's really what it was that's really what it was let's let's move on 295. i'm gonna get you a good red version shania twain more pop and red is pop could happen inside wouldn't you want to give this one a shot uh i don't know i'm not familiar with the song i don't i'm not you don't know i'm gonna get you good i'm gonna get you it's a matter of fact oh yeah yeah yeah you go that's perfect we're inside and that's red version yeah it was really resonant there it was resonant red you can bet your bottom dollar in time you're gonna be mine just like i should i'll get you good oh my god red version pokemon found dead pokemon tilt kilt red version green version more like shania shania red version and green version more like [ __ ] off the number 294 on the list italiano kate hudson
the only time i've ever felt represented on screen is kate hudson in the film nine person with long legs singing about singing about an italian movie yes so she the thing about kate hudson at nine is she really wants to live in an italian movie you know what i mean and she's she wants to go down the yemenetto and you know like oh and you know she's just so horned up yeah for italian cinema have you not been to italy i have not been to italy so i guess you could say i'm just as horny as she is for italian i don't think you need to go to i haven't only been to rome i have not been to the nice parts of italy not that rome is in a nice part but rome feels very touristy and not quite as um you don't get that attack cinema italiano feel no no no if you want to do chinese italian you go to venice venice gotta go to cinque terre yeah and you know the thing about rome is you know i'm sure the bathroom facilities aren't
updated oh no it's giving coliseum it's giving it's giving the forum it's giving the forum and i'll tell you something about rome there's death everywhere you look around the coliseum people were people were dying people were dying everywhere and if that's what you want to think about on your vacation you have to go to therapy to go to therapy for that one i have a good therapist for you debra deborah let's move on all right so this is number 293 thunder by jessie j one of the craziest vocals on any song ever recorded it sounds like that it sounds just like that and talk about the reasons why this was released in the uk before years before it was ever released in the us it's really shocking to know this wasn't a hit song because it is so incredible and amazing and something about jessie j is like nicole scherzinger she's really only very famous in england which is really more acceptable for jessie because she is
english nicole is sort of extremely american but somehow can only really register in the uk changing though here for nicole i mean i recently saw nicole do an intimate performance and she was singing like she was kate hudson what does that mean very well very well yeah extremely well yes i love the black and white i love the play of lights the way contini puts his image through a prism we're on a different song i know but that's the power of some songs but what a shame for jessie j that she sort of got overshadowed by kate well no no no well well they're technically in the placement jesse is overshadowing kate but we must i think we might have to revisit this throughout this list yeah cinema italiano is a better song than i will always love you by whitney houston yeah absolutely sorry and that wasn't up to us that was that wasn't up to the blue ribbon panel and also let's just say it god created
let's move on to 292 state of grace scooter's version taylor swift you take this one hun you know there are those subtle differences that you notice any time an artist re-records one of their classic songs and taylor swift is of course doing this in her project to re-record her albums to own her masters every now and then you listen to a song and go i liked the original better i liked it when they didn't think of they didn't have to think about we might have to record this in the future correct and there are multiple songs on red taylor's version that i think were maybe glossed over and state of grace as the opening track of that epic album genre expansive genre bending album crossover smash hit it's it's interesting to listen to taylor's version of state of grace and go i think i like scooter's version you listen to the song and you say now where's the girl i knew yeah where's the girl i knew because i'm not hearing her
because i'm not hearing her let me find her i'm not feeling enough of the color red and red is pop as we've as we've learned from shania twain red means pop red means pop and that there was something about in a post folklore evermore world i i hope that taylor revisits the pop the truth you spoke just now i hope she hears it you know i would say this to her face i really would i would watch you would watch you like to watch let's move on oh number 290 this is a tie this is a tie for two this is a tie the tie is sugar we're going down fall out boy and dance dance fall out boy sort of like you know two two energies that were so undeniable that we could not as a as a last couple races community decide which one would go above and beyond below the other one so this is the only tie on the great great well you're supposed to on the great global song the great global song book which is that i'm
trying to say that two times fast i mean you're you know it's a little bit of a spoiler there are no other ties in the rest of the list i'm comfortable spoiling i'm comfortable spoiling that too we as a community and again it wasn't up to us no it's up to the community this we could not decide which one was above or below the other we do know that both are above i will always love you both are above i will always love you which is great and they and everyone did an amazing job on it including whitney well it's her version that's on the list i mean i will always love you by dolly parton's number it's not on the list and so therefore sort of doesn't really matter yeah so in the end whitney still won out in a way now sugar were going down what's the feeling that you get when the song comes on oh my god just as soon as p comes in with am i more than you bargained for yet you i'm buckling in up down around you know what i love
when he says the word weir he goes down swinging that's i never noticed that before there are layers there are still layers even years later to peel back yeah now just to sort of you know jump over to a more sort of you know dance moment dance dance dude how do you feel when you hear this i go well i know i i guess i guess i gotta follow the anytime someone in a song tells you to dance i command you to dance you must follow the order oh absolutely and it's a military floor filler the dance dance is the floor filler and you know it absolutely popped off the music video when they're like dance dance et cetera it's one of the greatest songs and it's it's tied for 290 on the great global song book 289 school and life beyonce a song that you've described to saving your life i will still say that i still believe that's true what about it snapped me out of my depression it's a song let the readers get to know you in
this moment well the song is about how at any age you are in school and isn't that something amazing that's something amazing for people who miss school for people who hate school yeah for people who never who still have stress dreams about school yeah even though they've been away from it for decades like me decades i think this song is a wonderful encapsulation of life that you know you don't need who needs a degree who needs a degree and especially in a post in a post sort of um coveted landscape when student debt student loan debt is still sort of being fostered upon multiple generations of students this really liberates you from that thinking beyonce said gap year gap year with this one she said gap life the gap life she said don't even go to third grade girl she said skip it all who needs that degree when you're schooling live you know who didn't go to school didn't go point blank period
jesus christ no you think jesus went to school no no jesus was helping out on the farm jesus christ was getting his hands dirty like a man should all right let's say that right now jesus christ getting was getting his hands dirty like a man culture number five jesus christ was getting his hands dirty like a man like a man getting schooled in the school of life i think and they remembered her and they remembered her beyond never forgotten beyonce remember jesus i think for sure say that and more about destiny's child and members of jesus later members of jesus

am i only making it right cause i'll never be wrong nothing i can say totally clips of the heart i mean that says it all when i hear that song i feel better than i did before because i feel like i exercised catharsis that's the word that there's no more cathartic song there are no more cathartic songs i feel nothing when i turn on the radio i need catharsis everything uh every tick tock song you can't experience catharsis in two minutes no it's never ever ever gonna happen let's move on 287 replay zendaya this is just this is just one of the best this is when she came forth number 286 classical talk about that this is one of the most beautiful classical songs you might hear pavarotti spin this tune yeah you might hear um oh he's he's at the turntable yo like all the girls in the club are like dj play my [ __ ] song like jlo which didn't make the list um and then luciano pavarotti sort of
spins you are italian deeply no i know but you have italian gene in you equality you feel you think i'm just an italian girl from new york spiritually i i picture you in amalfi the beautiful man you too i i think this is your spirit especially when i think about you ever since i mean talking about kate hudson it's a constant thing that i i even i forget about you having known you for so long you have that spirit in you of kate well when i meet kate hudson one day i'm just gonna go up to her tap around the shoulder and say you're like me and she'll get it she's gonna be like yeah for sure and then she's gonna be like wait do you wanna go smoke a blood out back oh my god it doesn't matter i'm [ __ ] okay who is going to say anything to me my dad is kirk russell my mom is goldie hawn like we can go out and smoke a [ __ ] bun it's not a big [ __ ] deal don't be a [ __ ] narc on me now wait is her dad
no her dad is like literally not not like you know what her father figure is kurt russell right and father figures are just as important as fathers oh absolutely yeah they really are father figures or just that's a rural culture yes real question number 99 father figures are just as important as fathers let's move on um number 285 pretty girl rock carrie hilson and you never you never for her to identify to id herself so quickly in a song my name is carrie i'm so very fly oh my it's a little bit scary i i know i i know everything i need to know about this girl yeah it's like she's she's beyond the song and we know who she is and that allows us to you know really invest in her which we did and now she's got a huge huge career talk about the impact the line don't hate me because i'm beautiful on the culture oh my god major major impact i wouldn't stop hearing it for years don't hate me because i'm beautiful it's sort
of a chicken of the egg chicken of the egg it's sort of a chicken of the egg did carrie say it or did it or did did your um you know your floor mate in your dorm right uh you know pace university say it and it's that's the sort of chicken of the egg the chicken of the egg all right let's move on number 284 get ready for this one a thousand miles vanessa carlton you know immediately what song it is you already know you already know and immediately like it's crazy it's not a lot would you agree and i'm being serious not a lot of songs are recognizable by the first lyrics sometimes you gotta you gotta hook someone in with the chorus sometimes like the way that you can index the song is by singing the chorus or the bridge the first first lyrics like i just you could say pretty girl rock is the same absolutely but don't hear me because i'm beautiful is maybe more important than my name is carrie for a
thousand miles the most important lyric of that song is making my way downtown walking fast faces fast and i'm homebound and also not even just the first words the first musical notes yes i don't know better notes i don't know a better note better notes put together put together in terms of song 283 tiny moves miss beginnings chang played by maya rudolph on deep house dish on saturday night live this is one of the greatest moments in sketch comedy history for me deep house dish absolutely same um james anderson we do not deserve you these are my sunny moves these are the moves i do want to start to move with you i start with my tiny moves tilt and freak tilt tilt and freak tilt and freak tilt tilt and freak don't start a dangerous situation tilt
it doesn't get better than that no on a comedy level on a songwriting level like on a decorio level like he's um these are the moves i do honestly i'll never forget watching it it was the matthew fox episode of snl that was like you like that's your culture my culture was literally lost coming up in one and also never forget it did not make the list but that was when amy poehler played miss leticia stroh and shh cologne for christmas two ounces is not enough three ounces is not enough four ounces is not enough five depends on the brand i wanna spray myself in alone this christmas um and that is more there's more to the song but wow put respect on james anderson's name now now prior guest of the uh listen to this episode of lost culture go back and listen or else or else next up number 282 i'm here cynthia arrivo talk about the the importance of the color purple no we can't the color purple was an
incredibly important influential film you know steven spielberg directed this film in the mid 80s and not only was it a launching pad you know not only for the careers of whoopi goldberg and oprah winfrey um but really what this did was it told a story that needed to be told it's an alice walker novel and you know like we've also seen it you know brought to broadway by oprah winfrey and i'm sorry it's a great tony winning success by lachanze and cynthia arriva herself and you know now cynthia revo is elphaba is alphabet so that's sort of if you can sort of see the trajectory there it's like you go this is and this is what everyone dreams of you you dream of celebrity and then alphabet and then alphabet the sealy alphabet pipeline is is the dream it is the dream any actor you know that cynthia arrival has played sealy aretha franklin and elphaba the three dolls and then i'm and i'm i feel like we're missing one i
feel like there's a fourth doll um it's sealy elphaba aretha and who else did cynthia play who's the oh my god let me let me just see really quickly i need to i i there's one doll that we're missing i just know it okay i just know it well um harriet oh of course harriet iconic harriet tubman is is with the fourth doll okay let's move on moving on and this this is true this song is better than the previous song on a roll number 281 honorable ashley oh isn't it iconic that miley cyrus said you know what i am going to be another professional so many characters live inside miley she's like um chameleon she's a chameleon she's like david bowie so many characters she's like david bowie you know what miley cyrus said she said [ __ ] you david bowie david bowie she said [ __ ] you daniel day-lewis [ __ ] you jared leto i'm gonna do my way i'm gonna do my way and sing a nine inch nails banger and make it [ __ ] pop oh my god when
you hear oh honey yeah do anything for you it's like a thousand miles it's you're so right it is truly one of those songs that is welcome every time every time drug alert uh there's gonna be a few songs on this list that we're gonna say drug alert sometimes you listen to a song and it feels like a drug and whether that's whether or not you're sober you can experience the high of listening to a song like on a roll by ashley yeah i feel like i'm on poppers even talking about me too come on come on she's basically singing hey i'm a whole and not no not no for me number 280 my hair looks fierce amanda lapore nightlife legend pop music superstar my hair looks fierce is amazing i'm also partial to doing it my way doing it my way i wake up in the morning between three and four and i go to the bathroom between four and five like she's giving us her schedule what i mean what i and but she she's constantly walking us
through what she's like so in this song she says i just show up all done up dance do my thing get paid and i'm out and you know what that is exactly how i want my night to go oh my god okay can we say that we were recently somewhere where amanda poor showed up yes and it was just like this is her life and she's figured it out she comes in sits down shows up shows up chats to a couple chats with a couple of people all done up she's out she gets paid she's out i just show up all done up dance do my thing get paid and i'm out sometimes she doesn't even dance and that's amazing she needn't she has to prove nothing she's
rupaul's drag race all stars too there's nothing there's nothing wrong with roxy anderson no and we've all as a community i was thinking about this today you were thinking about this today i was thinking about this today when i was reviewing the list as a community have we have we bullied this poor person see here's the thing about roxy andrews and we can say this a natural bully herself but i had to do work to not be that and then wasn't and now i think it's all in good fun but i wonder if it was okay for us as a community and i'm saying us because i feel like because i've i've taken ownership taking ownership i partake in this very adult of like using her trauma the bus to make fun of her and i'm kind of being i'm kind of seriously opening up this conversation all right saying you know everyone in agreement that her verse and reggie wrote you is garbage like it's the only one i know by heart
um and that's the beauty of that's the beauty of that verse is that you think you have a total understanding of it and yet you don't and that's why i think we should maybe reconsider i i know that the the version with tatiana doing same parts is what's on the list but i think as a community we really have to examine ourselves should we make history right now and spit in the face of the blue ribbon panel and say the original red you wrote you is actually what's here yeah number 279 red you wrote you rupaul's drag race all-stars 2 addendum addendum i never would have predicted that we would have spit in the face of the blue ribbon panel and we're going to be hearing about it probably on twitter which we should all be leaving i know i'm not i know i swear
multiple women to definitively approach this song a very difficult song to sing oh yeah but for for the fact that multiple women can walk up to this goliath as david herself i'm going to fling my stone and and it's rangy song you have to be able to go all the way up there with your voice you know and be powerful and you have to go you have to be able to say and make it like your own every time you know no disrespect to hudson and amber but something about jennifer holliday doing that eight shows a week is is is a lot she had to do that a lot a lot more times than the other girls and of course we never forget her american idol performance of the song where she i don't know what happened i don't know what happened she she's a little possessed every time she's thinking absolutely i think you have to there has to be a demon inside you well effie takes over you're effie and effie is demonic effie
has had a demon put in her the reverse exorcism in that scene i think it's the moment where they say effie we all got pain a demon entered her did you see me get the chills a demon might have entered you honey i might need i might need a shaman to come i might have to blow air through a tube and they suck out you know the team i hate it when that happens number 277 do you want to come over britney spears it's a song that causes joy in the hearts of i think many millions but i can pinpoint the moment when it brought us much joy was new year's eve a couple years ago covered new year's coven new year's that first cove in new year's where we were very careful we obviously got tested but then we got a house and it was just a few of us had a few drinks absolutely played some songs had a good time but the tide shifted honey when do you want to come over by britney spears came on yeah do you want
to come over sort of we'll make you really move and it made us sort of all strut around a little pool table remember that i remember that we all just ran around a pool table but okay can i say what do we say what sound did we say we said total eclipse is the hardest catharsis no song does catharsis better no song does koi better than do you want to come over do you want to come over i love that it's like a little bit not even a v sound it's a b sound do you want to come over do you want to come over just let me know like do you want to come over if i could you know i don't think i'm the greatest flirt but i think if i were to remember if i were to you know access the part of me that is i would just think of this song yeah yeah i think next time you have a flirty um uh instinct just think of yourself as britney spears and do you want to come over should we change the i was going to say change the video
would be do it come over i did it this is freedom this is we've earned this this is our 300th episode 300 we have earned the right to do everything we do today such as say that this next song is only a little bit better than you want to come over number 276 natural woman aretha franklin
one of the best bridges and i i mean any of these songs that make us sing i had to look back at doug let's get doug in here doug we want to hear your is this my gone okay this is an important moment because you know we've we've now gone through 25 of the songs of the top 300 and we need and which is surreal come in and close the door for sound purposes thank you do you want to use this one which makes you want well there's lots of [ __ ] on that seat that one's on over here so come on over here so i guess what i want to know is so far what do you think of the list do you think do you agree do you even know a lot of you know a lot of the songs no about half of the songs that you've said okay and they're great and they're great what what kind of songs are you looking for like what do you hope makes the the list yeah i i hope it's diverse right okay well i think we've done that i i do too i mean you've went from
beyonce to fallout boy to bonnie tyler to aretha like yeah that's what i like that's culture that's culture that's right 100 i've heard you i've heard we've had nice beatles conversations with you before we've had nice katy perry celine dion conversations what what do you think is the pinnacle of of music beatles for me pop music yeah the beatles i think that changed everything well we can reveal to you right now it did not there are no beatles songs that's okay there's nothing here's what here's what i would say to you dog here's what i throw out there i don't think our next artist on the list gave a [ __ ] about the beatles when she recorded this track and i want to know a if you even know this song or if you even know this artist because number 275 my head and my heart ava max do you know who ava max is no i think you would do a better job okay so even that's a sort of a pop singer songwriter and one thing about her is
she has one side of her hair is really long and one side of her hair is really short you've seen her yes yeah yes impressions on that you think it's a great look i love it she's been doing it for years now at this point yeah do you think it's something she can just sustain for the rest of her career i i doubt she'll want to yeah i think at this point she's committed too long and she just has to stick with it for the rest of her life yeah so she's gonna be an old woman in the nursing home with you know one with one with one side long and one side short yeah no in this song oh my god it's a it's kind of a sampling of around the world but it's just one of the most powerful and this is what this is this is the drug alert song drug alert yeah there's going to be lots of drugs done so you so doug just to ask you a question um what's the sort of um when you were out there going to concerts were you into
the grateful dead i've been to a bunch of grateful dead shows and you smoked reefer yes so this is sort of the straight culture with drugs but i re i want that oh my god josh sharpener and jackson just went to a fish concert in madison square garden where a man fell from fell from the the nosebleeds and lived and lived to tell the tale that is but you know but a fish concert i think everyone is is is vibing sort of [ __ ] up but but having a good time i i respect it i would love to i would love to have gone to a grateful dead concert 100 a hundred percent doc would you want to go to let's say the chromatical ball the lady gaga concert absolutely i don't know i like lady gaga she's well she appears on the list many times she appears on the list are you excited for her her top gun song i haven't i didn't know it was coming she'll be doing the song from the new top gun film starring tom cruise well
that will encourage me to actually tune in i have a feeling wow okay so it's going to be it's sort of trying to be the new take my breath away i like it kind of cool doug what do you think um has been the cultural impact of lost culture recess and how has it changed your life to be a part of it oh man that's a lot that's a lot to put into words but i would have to say you've really opened me up culturally to the gay community more than i ever have and i love it well we're happy to what do you love and not like about the gay community i mean what's not to love thank you thank you and we really want to thank you for being here to announce help us announce 275 my head in my heart by eva max thank you so much thank you so much no conditions to be real we love dogs so much we love doug and thank you for being part of the fabric of lost culture i mean thanks for having me thanks for always making us

the song with my hair by willow and she said to me she turned to me i was an intern and she said i love this song and i was like you know she's 12. and she sat back in her chair and she looked at me and she said are you telling me i was dancing to a 12 year old in the club and i was like unique so i think that's what happened and she laughed and laughed and laughed and then she couldn't ever get over that she was 12. i still am not over the fact that she was 12 years old i think it made me a little a little uneasy even at the time i was like yeah but this is a this is a little girl pop up the beds and the swag on it was like watching like chloe chloe grace murat say [ __ ] and in a kick-ass and kick ass yeah but i don't know it sort of it sort of makes you really hopeful about the younger kids huh i guess number 271 and this is going to get us into the trouble wild wild west sorry about will smith
wild wild west is that song it's pretty good oh my god even the trailer of the movie they would play on tv growing up and it'd be like that looks like the coolest movie ever made salma hayek culture salma hayek culture garcelle beauvais culture absolutely kevin kevin klein culture and yes will smith culture and also you see a little bit of his butt in the movie you always say this every time we mention in our 300 episodes it's a recurring theme is it i think you've mentioned it number 270 men in black apologies smith this men in black this song men in black yeah then they go the met in black you know as as much as like will smith's music hasn't aged terribly well and it but it's been it's aged well enough to end up on the list he did do a great job of blending the r b with the hip-hop absolutely and also he always he and he was always going to say i have a movie well i'm going to make that title of my song
synergy and what i what i want to shout out most respect to is everyone that works in the men in black attraction at universal studios florida because that song plays in a loop at the gift shop and it's never anything else and i have to i have to really salute everyone that works there for not i'm raising or raising your glass to you in all the right ways all my underdogs the people working at men in black the rhymes the dirty little freaks dirty little freaks we hope you survive hearing men in black at least um 200 times a day 100 cheers number 269 miami truly regretfully but definitely will smith party in the city when the heat is on all night on the beach to the breakage welcome to miami i mean iconic i'm there i see the neon i see the art deco i'm i'm at south beach i'm i'm on coke i was gonna bring up cocaine yeah uh i'm at the w hotel getting sucked off i'm there i'm getting sucked off while

follow-up to diamond life this album on fire island yes oh i remember it when we were making like grilling stuff vibe it was and the sun was setting and we were like eating food it was the perfect vibe that was iconic sort of bow and yang um vibe curation i i put it on i was like this is like cooking music a hundred percent and cook we did and cook sometimes elevator music goes into cooking music more like good cooking good cooking hey let's go number 267 on my own from les miserables who's your favorite who's your favorite um what's your face this is a really complicated difficult machine to explore but the best singer of all time is lee michelle michelle took ebony into new heights and it's not on the list but when she dies in a little fall of rain she gives it everything and she's in that [ __ ] page boy cap the trench coat on stage go go to youtube and also here's the thing when you're listening to on my own and it
starts with on my own you [ __ ] up it's supposed to listen to the version that starts with and now i'm all alone again beautiful and you're transported to a time when everyone was dirty and wet except for marius mary's was always clean keeping it clean and miss coast set too squeaky clean squeaky clean you know castle on a cloud no dirt on my face honey honey let's keep going oh 266 stole kelly rowland stole by kelly rowland is do you know i don't get to know this song oh my god bowen you're playing it we don't have time we the flow will dictate the feel we do we didn't even we didn't even have this problem in the 200. in the 200 we got to this point at like number 15. okay here's what i'll say i'm not going to play the song but stole by kelly rowland is all about people who died too young and it was her first like big single and she talks about uh someone who played basketball and then i think got
involved in bad [ __ ] and ended up dying and one of her riffs at the end of the song is he had game oh my god greg was always getting banked from 20 feet oh he had gifts oh wait and then this is the song where she goes um like marilyn monroe yeah i know this song still wait we are making a horrible time i'm so stressed out number 265 bang bang my baby shut me down nancy sinatra number 264 bang bang my baby shot me down lady gaga and number 263 bang bang my baby shut me down oh my god would you like to perform it i was five and he was six we rode on horses made of sticks he want black and i wore white he would always win the fight bang bang he shut me down oh my god vulnerable oh my god that awful sound my baby shot me down we'll have to perform that soon at the duplex this summer just do the end uh oh like like the last chorus i'll just do the last like the last sort of belt yes
i mean three of the greatest talents coming together to sort of deliver an answer to lady marmalade which do not make the list it's me jesse and ahri if they test me they say sorry let's keep going it's rick's misguided squeeze in a bottle thought it was oh number 261 if i dream rupaul if i dream it's one of the most beautiful melodies and whenever you hear it start to play when one of the queens gets emotional talking to their child self you are oh my god you are really affected you're so affected i think that lucian guy wrote this number 260 satisfied by renee elise goldsberry one of the greats renee lynn lynn shout out to lynn shout out to lynn shout out to lynn who is writing new songs for the little mermaids let's not forget oh new songs for the little mermaid perchance we get a fish singing something like satisfied yes by renee elise perchance scuttle played by nora lum aquafina he's
number 259 jungle kitty bibi zahara and the music video really elevated this one high production value high production value like i could have seen you know this could be a big budget film and i love when a music video tells a story i mean i love to see pop stars act yes you know and bibi's a harmony pop star she's one of the biggest pop stars and she's really acting and there's no scene in the i don't really want to spoil the video but there is a scene in the beginning of the music video where she is interrogating someone and she says who sent you i said who sent you amazing line read and she laughed like this
you're right next up seasons of love 258 seasons of love rent one of the most amazing songs when you can just stand on stage as a company and connect with an audience merely through song and it really is like sort of like it's like a transitional song into into you know an act of of rent you know it's it's really it's really powerful and i think measuring your life in love is something we can all live by we can all live by that and tracy towns in the movie version measure your life 257 king of anything i love this song because it made us it gave us a new comeback which was oh my god are you king of anything so far we have two of out of the four leads of girls that i've ever represented on the song renee sarah pretty cool and there will be no more there will be no busy phillips and paula pal did not make this they did not actually did not make the list weren't we supposed to have paul bell on this
podcast at some point she'll be on yeah sometimes she's the best but i remember like it was like confirmed happening and then didn't i know i think some i think i got sick you got sick something happened i think everyone was sick everyone was sick everyone was so sick 256. shallow live at the oscars lady gaga and bradley cooper who could forget i was gonna say who could forget oh my god ready one two three who could forget when she was a little sharp and he was really flat and they sang together and you know that moment to be real though that moment at the end where the camera is in their face and they basically like have a post-coital post-nut clarity look at each other as if we had just watched them [ __ ] in front of hundreds of people thousands of people on that in that door it was culture it was it was like it was like it did and not that this goes without saying and everyone agrees with this but it was
one of those oscar moments that you're like wow this is the ass only at the oscars it was on only at the oscars moment and it was culture and shallow talk about knowing it from the beginning tell me something girl we were recording this epi this podcast the day the trailer dropped in like june 2018 or something it's too long ago too long ago but like we were off book on the [ __ ] song that day are you happy in this modern world what an amazing singer and a grammy award winner bradley cooper 255 all about that bass mega trainer this was a body positivity though body positivity boppy positivity more like boppy positivity say that i love that body as a rule of culture number 17 body positivity more like bobby positivity number 254 hands to myself selena gomez little hoe number 253 send in the clowns stephen sondheim this is a moment in a little night music where desiree realizes that you know
while she really truly believed and invested in this man who was the love of her life that perchance he is really not going to go on that ride with her he will not opt into the love that they share and she has to sit there and really debate out loud with herself just exactly you know not even really a debate i mean she's really she's it's contemplative and it's devastating it's de this is one of the most devastating songs in musical theater but i have a question to ask yeah is this one of the songs is this a song about realizing that you're a jester flop send in the clowns more like i am the jester more like i really flopped i am a flower dresser flopping in the square the clown square send in the clowns and then she goes more like me i am the clown beautiful beautiful 252 margaritaville jimmy buffett go on vacation why don't you listen to a song and go right to vacation in your head my god and i'm there al the songs that
are on this list are in some way transportive i think there are not that many songs on this list that take you to a place maybe will smith meet a miami but margaritaville by jimmy buffett takes you there and can we talk about being a global brand honey entrepreneur he wrote a song and it became a global brand where i want to go have a concreter today today i want to have a cheeseburger in paradise you can get it today heinz 57 and french fried potatoes you better know that's gonna be on the plate nowhere else should they serve heinz 57 and french fried potatoes waste it away again let's go alcoholic right alcoholic rights 251 leader of the pack this is this is just it's a stage play it's a state well one of an innovative song in that it starts out with a scene starring multiple people yes well there she is the tasker betty is that jimmy spring you're wearing mm-hmm must be great riding with him
is he coming is it coming is yeah but we no we're kind of i think you and i are both i met him at the candy store remember when hillary duff played this girl at american dreams the television show no perfect all right the next song 250. good good girls go bad cobra starship and leighton meester i know your type yeah your daddy's little girl this was peek leighton meester 100 and but you know i would say she might have peaked when she's still peeking because she's married to adam brody huge huge hot what a great couple oh my god i'm really obsessed with that imagine being the star of the oc and then the star of gossip girl gossip girl itself and they get together and didn't he also date rachel bilson they did date when they were shooting so he sort of has a type which is like brunette star of a teen soap he was i think he's one of the most he's one of the most attractive people in the world he's really cute seth cohen i was
like there's no one better remember seth there was you he was the original internet boyfriend yeah seth and also like how genius to make him like such a [ __ ] freako nerd and everyone was like this guy's a [ __ ] [ __ ] and meanwhile he was like literally i would i would i would like to equal parts sit on his face and he could sit on mine absolutely which i can't say about everyone so pretty and like the the episode where he loses his virginity um to summer it's like he had like he has a shirt off yeah but he i was like no one's looked better no he looked so good and also natural oh so that was sex and she goes yep oh my god they were so great together they were so good they come straight i wonder where should we go cohen cohen remember samira sameer somebody's america and a chance of being she is cuckoo anti-vaxx yeah yeah i think she was she at the big event she might have been at the big
event but she um i mean her line was confidence calling if you leave that time to not make the list okay confidence cohen that show was so that show was so good in that but if you do go back and watch it like does not really hold it up on a right really you're like wait this is horrible writing it gives me hope though we can write a horrible show that lasts impacts that lives in the hearts thinking about that

radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast number 249 firework by katy perry there's so few songs that could ever start i mean talk about first opening lyrics do you ever feel like a plastic bag and then it went on to become a hit despite do you ever feel like a plastic bag amazing okay we're actually making good time because we're at 50 and we're an hour in that's perfect so we have 50 more to go if we spend another hour it's a two hour episode of a hundred songs and if we keep it up well let's just keep going let's just keep going number 248 driver's license by olivia rodrigo documented moment in on this podcast of me not knowing the song you introducing it to me me going who's this olivia rodrigo girl weeks later i stan yeah uh even more weeks after that the whole country stands and then the world because this again is the great global science yeah right it's an international
galactic even list the great galactica just like a tattoo i'll always have you really kind of that lyric is really it just like a tattoo i always have you yeah you're like i guess it's kind of getting stuck it's giving it's giving what girl here's a laser treatment you can go too yeah hello hello it might hurt but what hurts more the embarrassment you have to carry with you because of that damn tattoo it's too so big and colorful i assume probably colorful tattoos yay or nay uh it depends hmm okay number 246 delicious fergie definition make the boys go loco this is an autobiography 100 and we've said it's a rural culture that ashley if ashley what simpson's autobiography is the best autobiography but this is a close second it's number two it's number two and it and even autobacteria isn't even on the list so it's it's different strokes it's different stroke there are songs from autobiography on the list that's that's
for certain but fergalicious by fergie i just it's a crazy this this was actually a specific time in the culture when you could write a song like let's say wind it up by one stephanie wow or fergalicious by fergie london bridge by fergie songs that like had nine different things going on yes like there's this is a crazy [ __ ] it's one of the most insane songs ever and it starts with that like beehive and then also fagalicious definition first of all there is no definition it's not a word and so so and what she's saying is that fergalicious by definition make the boys go local which doesn't make sense like fergalicious meaning make the boys like that's not a verb what did you do last night delicious huh fergalicious well i went out in fergalicious that oh you made the boys go loco well yeah that's what it means by definition fergalicious definition it's one of those grammatical things in a song like
people only focus on concrete jungle where dreams are made of oh that doesn't make grammatical sense no fergalicious definition make the boys go crazy they always click claim they know me stacy but i'm the f to the e r g the i the e and can no other lady put it down like me think about how famous you have to be to even put this song on people have to know who you are they have to buy into the reality that we as the listening audience know who fergie is so that when she's saying all these things we sort of understand yes we can see it smell it taste it [ __ ] it snort it that her name is fergie and that and also that people call her stacy but she's the f to the e r g the i the e and cannot the lady put it down like me number 245 work it missy elliott is it worth it i say yes this was one of those songs i think i was like nine years old when this song came out nine ten eleven but slamming your [ __ ]
to the ground my mom was in was driving her toyota sienna minivan on my way to piano lessons and this song would come on 95 7 kiss fm and like call before you come and need to shave my cha-cha i go okay i guess i am an adult now because i am i want to shave my cha-cha before the man comes over speaking of man number 244 one minute man missy elliott break me up show me what you got cause i don't know one minute missy elliott one of the greatest you everyone needs to if you partake in marijuana smoke a bowl just watch the old the videos the the the i can't stand the rain one what what which one's that what was that one called it doesn't matter we're a little we're a little buzzed all right we're drinking champs tonight i'm gonna make you want me make you want me and i'm gonna give you some attention oh yeah the rain super duper fly that's what i meant okay number 243 lose control elliott this is one of those songs that
could make you snap like if you hear it like music makes you lose control it's just like it's it's like it's like verdalicious at the beginning when you're just like your brain has no choice like it it has to like floor filler it's like it's like the equivalent of a strobe light yes musically like ultraman like strobe effect gives kids seizures in japan you could get a seizure from listening you really could number 242 42 get your freak on missy elliot now go now go i mean like she [ __ ] hawks a loogie in this song and we still said i would like to listen to it again and again and again and again i just had a visceral response to you doing it because she [ __ ] goes for it she really does let's keep going number 241 so beautiful my immortal evanescence talk about this song this song like skyrocketed evanescence you know they're so famous still and they're they're as big as you too you know
that's the biggest character it's coldplay you too terry hilson evanescence these are the big names of now and it started with of course bringing me to life which did not make the list because when they followed up with my immortal that's when you knew they were here to stay no when you cry
selena the queen of tejano music gone too soon and she said the world said absolutely absolutely number 239 leave get out jojo when she was 13 years old she came out and she said i'm singing this song the house down leave get out now right now now see another you and me now now can't wait for you to be gone
but this there was something major about jojo being in at least being class of 2008 in high school like she was our age i think she was like the first big pop star that was our age putting out i think she was well you're famously a little younger than me but like she was young i think she's born 91 yeah can you look it up really puts her in your sort of purview november night i know she's she's december 20th 1990 so she so she's our age she's 90. whoa she's not taylor she's she's she's jojo i'll never forget sitting in information processing class in ninth grade when she really came out with leave get out and the senior that i used to sit next to her name was jasmine and she turned to me and she said i can't believe this girl is 13. and you're like i'm 13. and i know and i was like i was 14.
and that's when we started hooking up you hooked up with the senior no oh my god um scandal just a little bit better than that song is number 238 don't stop believing journey i mean an amazing song that has so many lives so many lives journey and then family guy brings it back glee brings it back the sopranos the sopranos brings it back oh my god don't stop the end blackout just and when the glee kid sang this one you knew the glee kids were going to be then capable of something like blurred lines or then capable of something like walking on sunshine mashed up with halo by beyonce 100 100 or that you know darren chris would sing teenage dreams so beautifully even though he didn't sing this he didn't sing in the store and you know in the story don't stop believing i know what you mean don't give me that look you how dare you disrespect me i'm not disrespecting darren chris is a gay king he's not even gay
i'm guessing hey at number 237 this one this one really is famous single ladies beyonce this one really is famous oh do you remember do you remember the dance that she used to do tonight remember this dance instead of one like this didn't she have two people yeah there was two girls behind her yes and they were all doing the dance and i think the dance if we were not but if this was a dance list yes i think it might even make the top 300 dances of the world dances of the world it would be salsa rumba single ladies ballet freestyle wedding dances father daughter um cha cha real strong chops are real smooth macarena soulja boy soldier boy those are those would be sort of the top ten but but this is not a dance list and then the great galactic song this is the great galactic song book it's sort of changing um okay so next up and speaking of you know party dances number 236 los del rio do you remember the dance
i think so let's do it together did you ever get self-conscious when you were doing the macarena dance about shaking your ass at the end no i always committed and you know i would get so shy that that girl who sings in between the choruses was telling the story that people don't pay attention to yeah no they weren't like she was flirting with a boy named nicorino in the song yeah
one of my first moments in the culture of going now who is she yeah right it was one of the first now who is she moments can i just say that um this is how the song goes wait that's not how it goes that's this is not the that's a pop version a radio version no what the [ __ ] here we go this is my girl yeah yeah oh my god bo that i you're transported oh my god oh my god you're absolutely shaking your ass when this comes on it's so surreal this was a simpler time the time was so simple oh my god does she start the song i think so oh you forgot about this part but you can hear her grinning yeah you can wow she is and then you said you hear the men sort of saying hey macarena wow people don't realize that that's a real storytelling song yeah that she's like the best the the [ __ ] star of the show absolutely of the venue number 235 there are worse things i could do stalker chanting you know
i it's interesting that you put stockard on this because i i noticed i know one other person who's done a good version of this the hudgens the hudgens well stay tuned stay tuned let's get going stockard should have been oscar nominated for this absolutely absolutely number 234 since you've been gone kelly clarkson this feels low well this feels low i'm gonna say i'm gonna speak on your behalf and i think you agree i didn't make the list it wasn't up to me i know but i think but you must have a response to this or an emotional response to being at 234.
here's what i'll say it's on the list and so therefore it's like i can only complain so much i would say that this is a sort of banger forever and it did sort of kick start the conversation about max martin okay the first big old that's not really true though because he was working with factory boys for years and britney spears britney spears but anyway i know you mean what i want to say is that since you've been gone made max martin okay okay number 233 a better song than since you've been gone the electric slide disc jockeys at block parties bought mitzvahs sweet 16's graduation parties you hear the electric slide and you're expected to know it and you're expected to sort of dance to it the same way that like don't they do it don't they dance to it in 13 going on 30. i i think they do a thriller well as i think before thriller at some point they do not on the list nonetheless they do the electric slide maybe right no no
i'm getting it wrong do you if you if it came on right now could you do it well no i don't really remember it dude electric slide wow this is one of the best songs ever it's on the list yeah okay number 232 frosty the snowman fiona apple our first christmas song and fiona apple has her own amazing original songs but she chose to cover frosty the snowman and that was the most impactful song in her career i think that she she knows what's going to move people and it's frosty yeah and i don't i never thought of frosty as being like angsty until now well the story is angsty he melts he goes away he dies he dies he gets frosty dies and he like corrals the chil he like manipulates the children like frosty is not frosty was a sick pedophile and that's what fiona is good about writing about is good with is writing about men who manipulate predators predators frosty the snowman was a [ __ ] predator
rot number 231 slide mr c cha-cha now y'all this is another one i would get self-conscious about at the top because they when they say cha cha you sort of have to like shake your little ass i guess i just wasn't in my body as much as you were as a child oh i i mean you didn't do the thing like you know uh a middle school dance where you were grinding i mean that we we we were dancing in the age of the grind we definitely came of age in the time of grind yeah um but i wasn't running to cha cha real smooth no i'm saying like you weren't comfortable in your body while like cha cha slide would play like after yeah by usher yeah remember get low by a little drive oh my god to the windows to the wow to the sweat drop down my balls men are so disgusting little john frosty it's insane let's move away from men number 230 it's raining men the weather girls i guess we couldn't i guess we couldn't escape them
this is this is this is a song that is really beautiful i mean could you imagine uh it's reigning men well first of all like practically this would be a lot scary it would be really scary think about the men what are they thinking oh my god i'm falling down um you know what this is iconically like sort of like disposable men you know what i mean like it's raining man like whatever who cares but you know what i love about this song when it starts and she goes hi another one goes hi we're your weather and have we got news for you better listen yeah just the levels there you could tell it was different people and also the choice to do to say these lines like this get ready for your lonely girls and leave those umbrellas at home it just keeps getting bigger higher and bigger and higher failed to build they and they started at a 10. uh-huh hi hi what do you think they end up what number do you think
they end up at 50. absolutely way off the charts number 229 where are your christmas taylor momsen and faith hill we have the film version and the sort of pop radio version both equally valid it would be a tie if it weren't for the fact that they were basically the same song right now what do you think this question is asking she can't find christmas and she's asked it's like very judy bloom it's like are you there god where are you christmas yeah it's really a song about maturation i think it's not just fear about losing christmas it's i think a fear of what am i going to become as i get older as i'm exposed to more truths as i move forward in my life me cindy lou who what's going to become of me as i step forward into adulthood if christmas changes does that mean i'm going to change as well and what will i become as i become an adult this song is deeper than it's been given credit for and it
was written by mariah carey there is no song quite like this in the christmas canon no and it made the list and it made the list number 228 natalie i mean this [ __ ] wore a [ __ ] zip up hoodie a sweater whatever the hell and she made it into a moment she gave she gave when she was like when she goes and she's like spins around that iconic thing you know then years ago i tried to write a sketch which was like i don't know what it was but i think it was just people hanging out and the song would come on and like people would just go do the dance i think no one got it and it did not make it into the show that's okay but you can use it for snl if you want i'll use it for us to know i'll try to find it thought i saw a man brought to life he was warm he came around and he was dignified showing me what it was to cry but she couldn't be that man i adored you don't seem to know seem to care what
your heart is for well i don't know him anymore there's nothing where he used to lie inspiration has gone dry that's what's going on nothing's right i'm sure i'm all out of faith this is how i feel i'm cold and i am shame lying naked on the floor illusion never changed into something real i'm wide awake and i can see the perfect sky is tired you're a little late i'm already torn amazing it's so good it's amazing oh my god and the lyrics are like low-key amazing like you're thinking about it illusion never change into something real i'm wide awake and i can see the perfect sky is torn what the [ __ ] i remember just being scandalized by lying naked on the floor it's like naked on the floor yeah how many times have you been lying how many times in your life have you lied naked on the floor not that many no i don't really like naked on the floor i like naked in the bed i only naked in the couch i why yeah
all the time i walk around naked often mm-hmm but on the floor no no no you are at your lowest no the floor is filthy but you and why you had to get naked before you ended up on the floor you can't get lower than the floor this is dj efn co-host of the drink champs podcast each and every week music icons join myself and nori to have a few drinks and share some amazing stories legends like yay alicia keys snoop dogg the game buster rhymes lil wayne and so many more you'll hear unfiltered conversations with the biggest stars of music that you can't get anywhere else listen to drink champs on the black effect podcast network iheartradio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast what's up good people this is jill scott and i'm back with season two of jill scott presents j dot il the podcast yup the podcast is a safe space for unfiltered conversation and every week my two sister friends asia great and

superstition it's bob dylan yeah ricky martin this is a living let me look at the bob dylan song and that's a rule of culture covering this song before he perishes and croaks croaks hey uh let's do the next one number 224 intuition jewel kid moss can't find a jump from 0304 her sort of pop horror moment and unfortunately jewel has sort of politically been troublesome lately has she she's very she loves she loves one
what a weird singer crazy singer but we love her and she appears on the list numerous more times jewel number 223 rednecks the band not necessarily the people i'm sure rednecks like the song khan night joe i used to love this song remember this song cotton it was there's a time when cotton and joe and like the [ __ ] hamster song joe was always my favorite song at like one of these types of events where these songs would play yes yes because and do you know kat and i joe do you know the dance uh i don't know the dance would you like to see it yes okay matt it's taking off the headphones it goes like this i've been married a long time ago where did you come from when indiegogo so it's like honestly in my bones like in my body forever yeah but you saw what these this in watching me do the dance you thought it was fun right it was it looked so fun i was i was i was square dancing with the guys and girls yeah
yeah yeah i love it and it really gets everyone onto the floor and also it's it's like it's better than the electric slide in macarena because when you get it right it feels like you actually challenge yourself via your dance this is the thing and this is part of why margarina and cha-cha slide and the electric slide took off it's because they're slow right it's boom boom boom boom boom continent it's just that like the bpm is a little bit more engaging 100 it's it's it's a it gets your heart rate up it actually predated berries it predates cotton i just was the original berries and that's really culture number 144. cotton was the original berries just even doing cotton eye gel you get the same workout that you would at berries you just burned a thousand calories shout out to ian shout out to ian mcandrew um okay number two number 222 talk about another fast paced song we did a performance of this yes when we
hosted our show the list the list at the public hotel yes um that was a great performance i wish we still had it i know where'd it go i don't know we never filmed anything we did i know is that popular except popular but this song i mean like then just a great like quintessential like this and like show me love by robin us like might be on the list the quintessential like pop huge pop house 90s house moments yes brought it into the mainstream and this song just like the the vocal the vocal looking about that all the time together you want to know by now if you wanna be my lover wanna beat my love you know what i love about this vocal is it's full-throated yes they said hey girl you don't have to you don't have to do all that and she said you don't know what i am you don't know what i have to do i'm lebouch the mouth the mouth is that what that means yeah what la boca oh my god is that french la booster is the mouth in
french someone's opening a door oh my god we have our first guest first we're our first game come on come on get in oh my god oh my god we have our first special guest here to help us with the top three with the great global song book introduce yourself now grab a title is this working yes it's working now greta you've come at an amazing time we are at number 222 on the list it was be my lover by lebouch anything you want to say about this song it's and i want to say thank you for wearing the lost culture just for my voice today i mean every day but i know i was going to get my little sweatshirt on to go to the gym and i said it has to be less culturally no i'm 100 so are you stopping here on your way to the gym i'm stopping here on my way to the gym so sort of endorphins are for the endorphins exactly we're so thrilled to see you and a shocking honor to be on the 300th episode well your family oh your family
i know you need a mimosa and you can't possibly be because i can't possibly because i'm going to go and bust my ass on the stairmaster because tonight i do believe and hope that we are all eating fajitas yes yes we're having we're having a little birthday dinner i'm really excited that that you are going to be here for this next one okay because bo and by the way let's just i'm cutting this out i see that 220 is also frosty the snowman oh [ __ ] okay so should we uh what do you want to replace that with um we're actually gonna it's gonna be iconic because we're gonna have greta choose what is the song that should be on the top 300 that should be here um it should be natalie and bruce lyon naked we just we just did it you know what else it should be it should be um it should be it's a liquid dream liquid liquid okay perfect all right but that's not yet the number 221 is push it by peppa iconic song now push it etc
oh baby baby baby baby get up on this probably the most like performed song in cinema one might say very not only do we get the song we have to get dance dance and the thing is this song let's just put it out there on the table it makes you want to [ __ ] and get down and have sex
i'm thinking of or that is like the friendship thing between them is it sweetest thing i don't know but it's like their thing where they like meet up and they do it out like a sleepover night oh my god i'm seeing like i think it's sweetest thing punish it push it movie in a movie friends push it in a movie something borrowed something and person film something borrowed to take real estate on our top 300 is absolutely perfect perfect something one of those movies that had a good trailer and then was not good now 220 we had a repeat of a prior song so we did ask greta to give us her contribution to this and i'm thrilled i'm thrilled that's the perfect number 220 is liquid dream of town yes ashley parker angel everyone yeah remember him they were all really attractive yeah they're all really attractive and not only do they offer liquor dream but also is let's talk about the lyrics of liquid
dreams yes them painting the perfect woman she's got a body like jennifer right yeah i do about a girl who's a mix of destiny's child there we go with a little touch of madonna's wild style style with janet jackson's eyes throwing a body like jennifer yeah you got the star of my liquid dream which is about coming yes and like i knew that at the time also the line she's a more a morph dream from a magazine now this hot girl she's not your average girl she's a more dream from a magazine well she's so funny designed to blow your mind she's a dominatrix supermodel beauty queen this she's the dominatrix supermodel beauty i did not know what the word dominating jolie's lips to kiss in the dark underneath cindy c's beauty mark when it comes to the test she's tyra's the best and selma hayek brings the rest these men are gay these are gay men these are gay men basically liquid dreams says them standing
and they're talking the liquid dream is them having a martini with them i better be hearing liquid dream play blasted in the clubs this prize honey you will appreciate this both of you will it's just unlocked a memory for me the first time i went to universal studios hollywood the first time i was in l.a don't tell me they were playing it well no that album had just come out and that album that my sister bought was in my discman that entire time we were in los anderson i just we played i played that album start to finish over and over and over again was otown a pearlman creation no they were making the bands we watched and they really were like they were a group of like horny looking guys yeah really i wonder how much of them were gay it was four right it was four i think it was four or five ashley parker angel is he well he just looks gay i think am i making this up but was ashley parker angel in a relationship with
ashley simpson oh my god at that point spiritually that feels right but of course ashley simpson iconically dated ryan cabrera for sure who's not on the list um ashley wait oh my god they had once wait okay ashley had a son named lyric lennon born august 2005 and lyric is an actor and appeared in american horror story hotel well you know how he came to be because ashley parker angel had a liquid reality into a woman oh my god that he he basically like probably was thinking into a dominatrix supermodel beauty dominators and got him all excited and salma hayek brought the rest yep what does that mean i would just like to say that lou pearlman did manage them oh he did iconic so he probably was like you guys should think about how you want to come and they're like okay lou um so number 219 i love you always forever right donna lewis this is that song you hear in the doctor's office it's that song you hear
on fm radio in the car when you're driving around you always i'll never forget she really sang this from her beautiful soul yeah she said you got the most unbelievable eyes i've ever seen she made me say you could see the blue eyes blue eyes this song gives me a gorgeous fall afternoon it's an autumnal romance for me or yeah no fall afternoon is good i was gonna say but it's not quite that it's like poolside in the spring but maybe not but fall and spring speak to each other because they're not hot or too cold absolutely they're mirrors two hundred eight feet like that on me here bruh no no no no no no no no hold on wilson phillips sort of living in the same time period totally i really do appreciate it coming back in a big way after bridesmaids yeah i was gonna say bridesmaids gorgeous song i mean really really really just and and you know what i love about this song is they're saying i know this pain
why do you lock yourself up in these chains no one can live your life except for you don't ever let nobody step all over step all over you open your heart and you'll find open your heart and your mind is it really fair is it really fair to feel this way inside someday somebody's going to make you want to turn around and say goodbye till then baby are you going to let them hold it down and make you cry this is girl by destiny's child spiritual successor this was white girl white girl this is white girl it's actually roller culture number 40.
hold on by wilson phillips is white girl by destiny's child let's move on and this song is very famous but it's only a little bit better than hold on and liquid dream respect a-k-a-r-e-s-p e-c-t by aretha frank the queen of queen of soul aretha franklin queen of soul aretha franklin i mean there's not much to say come on she literally spelled it out just a little bit mister just a little bit just a little bit hey before she went re-re-re-re-respect just so you know um i was in the my gospel choir in high school and truly as a prank they made me sing respect in front of my entire high school my senior year oh my god how did it go uh let's just say it was not what you want okay because you're more jazz vocalist you're not really a soul vocalist but that was good baby you got it baby i got it oh my god remember when kelly clarkson was an iconic white girl who's staying respect on american idol and then shot
into the hearts of millions yeah do you think that was the moment yes yeah respect she slayed that she slayed that all right 16 better than respect they'll just a little bit better than raspberry ct bring back my girls rupaul so at the end there comes a time in every episode of rupaul's drag race where rupaul has to bring back her girls to get critiqued and find that it's going to be eliminated and so naturally this was an opportunity for her to make a song yes hence we have bring back now what's the famous lyric in the first in the first verse she going back to the work room rethink her life everything oh no no no it's cranberry thank you though vlogger thank you doll i just know bring back my girl yes that sort of thing bye bye bring back my i think i ordered that from both i've ordered that from both of you at certain times vodka with cranberry thank you but for me it's more of a vodka with grapefruit
right you like more of a greyhound what's your favorite thing to put with vodka um gosh like an espresso this cold [ __ ] okay number 215 obsessed mariah carey you a mom and pop i'm a corporation i'm the press conference you a conversation why are you so obsessed with me it's really a testament to mean girls yeah oh what is that lying that just sucks to me when everybody knows that you're good an impressive man i still but you're losing your mind it's confusing y'all you confused you know why you wasting your time because i got you all fired up which in napoleon got black singing right through you like
do you feel that that's great writing yes and how do you feel that this is the first time mariah carey has been on this list i believe i feel that um where it's the beginning of something uh-huh i would have said i would have voted for honey okay interesting that's interesting that you'd think that that i also would have voted for no that's
