House Democrats have released emails that raise new questions about President Trump's relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. And a baby formula recall has expanded to include every by heart product sold in the US. Good morning. I'm Corv Coleman from NPR News and here are today's top stories. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released several emails from the estate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. These refer to President Trump. NPR Steven Fowler reports. The emails raise new questions about the extent of the relationship between Trump and Epstein.

The three emails appear to show more of a connection between Trump and the disgraced financier than previously reported. One thread called Trump quote that dog that hasn't barked. Another said Trump quote of course knew about the girls without elaborating further. NPR has not independently confirmed the veracity of the correspondence. The revelation comes as the House returns to action today and will have enough members to vote on a bipartisan measure to release more Epstein files. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Steven Fowler, NPR News.

The decisive vote in the House to release more Epstein files is expected to come from Arizona Congresswoman Elect Adelita Grialva. It's been 50 days since the Democrat won a special election. She's expected to be sworn into office this afternoon. Ghava believes the delay in administering her oath of office is linked to her support for the release of the Epstein material.

I do believe that there is absolutely a connection um with me pledging to be the 218th signature on the discharge petition to release the Epstein files and that has resulted in denying representation to more than 800,000 Arizonans for the last 7 weeks. She spoke to NPR's All Things Considered. The Republican le House is expected to take up a spending measure today to end the federal government shutdown. NPR's Claudia Gales reports. GOP leaders are confident they have the votes to get the bill to President Trump tonight. The House Rules Committee met for more than seven hours overnight to send the plan to the floor for a final vote this evening. This comes days after a group of Senate Democrats broke ranks with their party to help Republicans approve the deal. It funds most of the government, at least through January. But House Democrats are furious, saying their party didn't make good on their promise to reopen the government in

exchange for extending healthc care subsidies. Now, Senate Democrats are set to negotiate a plan with Republicans to address spiking Affordable Care Act premiums. If not, they warn they'll hold Republicans to account at the next government shutdown deadline of January 30th. Claudia Gales, NPR News.

Government shutdown continues to slow airline traffic. There are nearly 900 flight cancellations so far today. According to the tracking site flightaware.com, yesterday more than,200 flights were cancelled. A maker of organic baby formula by heart is recalling all of its products sold across the country. There's been a growing outbreak of bachulism among infants. The illness has been linked to some of by heart's baby formula. Dr. Steven Abrams is with the University of Texas at Austin. He has been tracking the cases from the botulism outbreak.

Some of those cases been potentially linked to the use of one particular infant formula. uh and this is being investigated and the formula has been recalled.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found 15 cases of bachulism in babies in the US. The babies have been hospitalized. President Trump's recent pardons of 77 people linked to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election do not apply to any state charges against the individuals. That includes Trump's one-time lawyer, Rudy Giuliani. He's involved in a criminal case in Georgia. From member station WABE in Atlanta, Alex Helm reports.

The massive RICO case originally brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fonnie Willis still does not have a prosecuting attorney. That's after a Georgia court removed Willis because her relationship with a special prosecutor created an appearance of impropriety. The prosecuting attorney's council of Georgia has to name her replacement by November 14th or the indictments are dismissed. In a statement, the council's executive director, Pete Scandalakis, said Trump's pardons only apply to federal charges, not state, and his office is working on their assigned task without being influenced by outside actions. For NPR News, I'm Alex Helm in Atlanta.

Social media lit up overnight thanks to a solar storm. The northern lights were visible across much of the country. As NPR's Gile Snyder reports,

the northern lights are typically limited to places like Alaska and northern Canada, but social media users as far south as Alabama and Florida were able to step outside and snap pictures of the colorful displays in the night sky. A severe solar storm brought the auroras much further south than usual. But while the display sparks social media joy, space weather forecasters warned of potential complications. Geomagnetic storms can temporarily disrupt radio and satellite operations. According to experts at NASA and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, the sun is in an active phase that's expected to last until at least through the end of the year. Joy Snider, NPR News.

Israeli settlers have attacked the biggest dairy farm in the Israeli occupied West Bank. In a rare move, Israeli police say they've arrested four Israelis for extremist violence. As NPR's Lauren Freyer reports,

footage from the scene shows burned trucks smashed windows in a warehouse blackened and looted. The Israeli military says the perpetrators were masked Israeli civilians who, after injuring Palestinian staff, turned on Israeli soldiers and attacked them, damaging their vehicles. The United Nations says settler violence hit a record high last month during the Palestinian olive harvest with an average of eight attacks per day. Most go unpunished by Israel. In this case, a senior Israeli military commander called on soldiers to quote not stand idly by. The Palestinian Economy Ministry is urging other countries to place perpetrators on international terrorism lists. Lauren Frier, NPR News, Tel Aviv.
