Just a couple of months ago in Wakefield prison, an inmate awoke in his cell with a target on his back. He was the most hated man in the building and in the whole of the UK for the heinous crimes that he had been convicted of. He had been attacked countless times in prison already. His fellow inmates were actively trying to kill him. But this man was no ordinary prisoner. He was the most famous man in that jail. Once with millions of fans, he was so powerful that he was practically above the law. Yet here he was on a random day in October bleeding out on the cold concrete floor of the jail. The whole nation celebrating the news of his death. So who is he?
Outlaw. Hello and welcome to Outlaw Podcast. I'm Ellen O'Neal and in today's episode, we're in Wakefield, North England in 2025 where an alarm has just been raised for a violent attack on an inmate named Ian Watkins. He was the lead singer of Lost Profits, one of the biggest rock bands in Britain. But for the last decade, he had been behind bars for some seriously effed up, twisted crimes. Every night after he finished singing to sold out stadiums, he would return to hotel rooms where women awaited him. But it wasn't the women he wanted. It was who they had brought with them. Now, before we get into this case, I just want to give my usual disclaimer that I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone that we talk about in this episode. I guess apart from Ian Watkins himself. We will however be covering a lot of sensitive topics including severe child sexual exploitation and abuse, addiction, violence, murder, and some of
the worst text messages discussing children that you will ever hear. Viewer discretion is strongly advised. So, feel free to click out of this episode now if you need to. And hopefully I'll see you again some other time with a different episode. So many of you have requested that we should do an outlaw episode on Ian Watkins. And honestly, for the longest time, it's been something that I didn't want to go anywhere near because, well, I mean, you'll see. But that changed uh as of recently since there were updates to the case. If you know, you know. And if you don't know, then buckle up and let me tell you about the UK's most despised rock star. Born on July 30th, 1977, Ian Watkins was a native of the Welsh valleys, specifically from a town called Mura Tidville. Apologies in advance if my Welsh pronunciation is ass. Our editor, Kath, is actually Welsh herself. So, I can just imagine her like shaking her
head in disappointment while she's working on this one. But the area in which Ian was raised was so blooming beautiful. So much of Wales is the nature, the scenery, the people. It was an idyllic place to grow up with green parks and woodland trails. But Ian's own life was not so idyllic. In fact, it started off rather tragic when his father passed away when Ian was just 5 years old. He likely would have been too young to fully grasp the loss, but it was a devastating time all the same. That grief would never stop rippling through his life and through his childhood. It was like there was a hole in his heart that couldn't be filled by anyone or anything else. But when he was around 8 years old, his mother remarried. And even though he now had a father figure once again, it was far from a normal family setup because his new stepdad was a church minister, which meant that Ian and his mom had to move
in with him in his like churchapp appointed home rather than him like moving to fit in with their life, you know, and molding around this kid. So, 8-year-old Ian was confused and everything was changing and they moved towns and he was getting used to this new family member. But it all seemed to go quite well. And what was nice to hear was that Ian never felt any pressure to suddenly become religious for the sake of his new stepdad. His mom and his stepdad just wanted him to dance to the beat of his own drum. And that was a brilliant metaphor for me if I do say so myself because this kid was a little rock star from a young age. He loved alternative heavy music and his love for it just grew and grew as he got older. But in general, Ian lived a very normal, happy childhood. It's important to note that he was never abused. He was never really bullied. He was attractive all his life and he found it easy to get girls and to
make friends and be social. He was incredibly intelligent. He was one of the highest scoring individuals in all of his classes. Like this guy had a cushy life despite his dad dying at at the age of five. Nothing bad really ever happened to Mr. Ian Watkins. And that was a constant. The fact that he was never told no. The fact that everything always seemed to go his way. In high school, Ian picked up a few instruments and he would jam out with his friends in the shed. Did that Did that just make me sound really old? He would jam out with his friends. Him and his friends would go to the shed at the end of the garden and they would play music together.
Okay. And they all had this shared dream to be in a band one day. And I think Ian went through a few little teenage bands before eventually in 1997 he would form Lost Profits when he was around 19 or 20 years old. And of course he would be the frontman even though he could play a variety of different instruments. Ian just loved to command the stage to be the one at the front with all eyes on him. And like he had a pretty good voice as well. Obviously, they ended up being a really bloody well-loved band before people found out what he was really like. So, they were good. People liked the music. There were six members of Lost Profits, including friends that Ian had made way back in high school. And they really grinded it out as a band.
They were determined to be successful. They played as many gigs as they possibly could all over Wales. And by 2000, so three years into this whole gigging thing, Lost Profits found themselves being signed to an independent label. This meant that they could finally release their debut album, The Fake Sound of Progress, and they would have it pushed out to the masses. They would get radio players. People would know their name. It all happened so fast. The band's first project was an overnight hit, and the boys were stars.
They were invited to support for bands like Lincoln Park and Deaf Tones and then they quickly got their own massive headline tours. They were breaking into the US market as well, which is quite hard to do for a British act. But Ian Watkins insisted that he wasn't your traditional rock star. He was a good boy. In early interviews, he said that he didn't do drugs and he didn't drink, which was very different to how everyone else was doing the whole touring musician thing back then. Literally, everyone was on something, especially rock stars. But Ian said that he was straight edge because music and performing really meant that much to him that he wanted to be as clear-headed and focused as he possibly could be to do the best job for his fans. He felt like he owed it to the music and to the audience. So, this actually added to Ian Watkins appeal. It made him and therefore lost profits as a whole
different to anything else on the market. They were intriguing. Ian seemed so badass, but he was such a good example. He became even more famous in 2004 when he started dating British broadcasting icon Queen Fern Cotton. He was 27 years old and he was living every man's dream. He had the beautiful girl. He had the career. He had the money. But it didn't last like that forever. The band brought out a second album. They announced another tour. But as all of this amazing stuff was going on in Ian's career, his relationship with Fern was crumbling. They split up. And around the time that Lost Profits went on a big tour, it was then out on the road that straightedge Ian Watkins ended up turning to alcohol, hard drugs, sex, and partying. He was really starting to realize his power at this stage. He could get any drug he wanted, as much of it as he wanted. He could get any girl he wanted. And while he certainly took
advantage of that when it came to his fans, it wasn't fully satisfying him. And that is when the type of groupies that he engaged with began to change. They became a lot younger. Ian Watkins began inviting teenage fans backstage and into intimate situations with him. It's [ __ ] disgusting, but it's tragically not even shocking at this point to hear that a rock star in the late 2000s to 2010s was taking advantage of underage fans. We've heard similar allegations from probably hundreds of bands at this point. It's horrific. It's disappointing, but it's not shocking anymore. But what was is how brazen Ian Watkins was about the whole thing. These girls that he was bringing backstage looked like kids. They were as young as 13 years old at this stage. And trust me, it gets worse. But like they didn't even look like ambiguously around 18.
They looked like little tween. And he would openly say that women around his age and women in their 20s are too old. Bear in mind, he is pushing 30. Ian wasn't hiding the fact that he was taking these young girls, not even just backstage, but back to his hotel rooms. Fang girls on forums would say that they wish they were younger so that Ian Watkins would be into them, which is obviously really quite disturbing, but it's really also disturbing that that is a known thing throughout the fan base and they all still love him. This is a guy that openly gets with children. And it gets even worse because Ian would frequently record videos and take pictures of these girls as he was abusing them. He created indecent images of children. His bandmates deny knowing that any of this was happening, that Ian was abusing underage girls. And while I found that quite hard to believe at first, the more digging I did, the more
I think it could make sense, his bandmates said that ever since he went off the rails on drugs after the second album, they barely saw him. Their relationship with him became so strained and he was always just off doing crystal meth or cocaine somewhere. They all stopped hanging out together. Well, at least the rest of the band stopped hanging out with Ian at least. and he would get his own private dressing room separate from the rest of the band at their shows. Sometimes he would travel between cities on his own. He would stay in different hotels, possibly trying to hide what he was doing from everyone. But the band was really concerned about Ian's drug use.
In fact, they all worried that they might genuinely just find him dead one day from an overdose or from something being laced at the rate that he was using. that was that was very much a possibility. So, like I say, while I personally still find it hard to believe that his band had no idea whatsoever that he was so deviant and that he was taking advantage of child fans, if they're saying that they weren't crossing paths with him, then I guess then, you know, whatever. But some of the specific allegations and stories that girls have come out with about Ian Watkins at the height of his fame are truly horrific. We're going to discuss many of them throughout the course of this episode, and quite a lot of the victims are anonymous, but there are a lot of common themes. For example, Ian wanting to take these young girls virginities, pressuring them into doing drugs with him, recording them during
the without their consent or without their knowledge. He would physically force these poor young girls into sex acts of all kinds, oral, vaginal, anal. One girl said that he urinated all over her, all over her face, and ordered her to drink it. He was very into degradation and humiliation. And it was very rarely, if ever, discussed beforehand, never mind consented to, especially because these girls are so young that they are literally unable to consent to anything sexual with this man who is pushing 30. He would ask these teenagers to come over in their school uniforms so that he had the visual reminder of their age right there in front of him the whole time while he wasing them. He would acknowledge in the things that he said to these girls that he liked how young they were. He would ask them if they enjoyed being an underage.
It was all so egregiously blatant. This man is a pedophile, but he would hide it from the masses by having public-f facing relationships with adult women. So unless you saw with your own two eyes Ian Watkins taking teenagers from the shows home with him, then you would assume based on his public image that he was just just a guy in age appropriate relationships. A lot of the time the women that he would choose to be in these public facing relationships with would be other celebrities. I guess to make sure that it would be picked up on and reported on by the media. It would be spread far and wide that Lost Profit's frontman Ian Watkins is loyal to his woman. So no one needs snoop around at what else he might be doing.
And it worked. If that was his plan, it worked because no one was keeping that close of an eye on him. And when no one was looking, Ian's crimes would devolve and spiral into the depths of pure evil. Until one day, when Ian would slip up and get loose lipped with the wrong person about his dark, twisted fantasies. Someone who would finally try to stop this danger to children. Joanne Myedgelitz was 29 years old and a huge fan of Lost Prophets. She desperately wanted to see them live, but she couldn't get a hold of tickets. So, in 2006, she tried her luck just sending the band an email via their website asking if she could come to the show.
And Joanne was flawed when an email popped into her inbox from Ian Watkins himself. And the two of them just began talking just about life, about music. As things progressed, Ian ended up asking Joanne if she wanted to meet up. and she was just elated. Could you imagine emailing One Direction from an email address that you found on their website and Harry Bloody Styles gets back to you and asks you if you want to go and meet him. Sorry, that's like the only thing that I can compare it to in my little head. It would be every fan girl's dream, especially at the time in the 2000s before, you know, way back before we'd heard all the many, many horror stories of bands taking advantage of fans. Not much of that kind of thing had been exposed at the time. So all these girls were none the wiser and they were just over the moon to be noticed by their fave. And bear in mind Joanne was 29. So she wasn't like a naive teenage
girl. She was a grown woman able to make her own decisions. And she said, "Fuck it. Let me get into a [ __ ] buddy type relationship with the lead singer of my favorite band." But even though she was of age, Joanne was vulnerable in other ways. She was using a lot of drugs at this point in time. She had been abused by men in the past and and grown used to it. And at the time that she comes into this case, she was reliant on sex work to pay her bills. Ian could probably sense just from talking to Joanne that she was quite vulnerable and probably quite easy to control. She's withstood abuse before, so she would probably do it again. Just a side note, maybe a bit of an overstep, but some personal advice from yours truly. When you're dating someone new and you're getting to know someone in a romantic context, I would personally refrain from mentioning any past trauma or abusive situations that
you've been in. Until you know that person well enough, you don't know if they're the type of person to use that vulnerable information against you. They might hear that your ex was awful and he gave you the silent treatment and he cheated on you and you took him back and maybe that would just make them think that they can do all the same to you and that you'll put up with it because you've put up with it before. And of course, I'm really not trying to victim blame Joanne here in any way cuz how was she to know that Ian Watkins was evil?
That's exactly my point. Even for myself, this has been a very recent learning. It's something that you don't really think about when you want to view the world and other human beings as being well-intentioned. But the sad fact of life is that not everyone is good and not everyone wants to do good by you. Ian had picked out this vulnerable woman with scars from previous situations and he targeted her presumably hoping that she would just submit to him and he could treat her however the hell he wanted. And that is exactly what happened. Joanne became infatuated with Ian Watkins to the point where she went out and got his initials tattooed on her body. I feel like it's important to clarify here that they weren't ever like a proper committed boyfriend girlfriend relationship. They were in a very on andoff sex centered situationship that was very much at Ian's discretion. She was at his beck and call whenever he was
ready to dig her up and see her again. He treated her like [ __ ] Honestly, he would push her boundaries all the time, physically, sexually, emotionally. He got off on seeing how badly he could treat this woman. And because she would always come back, it made him feel like a god. So, believing that this woman would let him get away with anything, Ian starts to tell her about his interactions with underage fans in detail. He is reliving these moments that he has had with kids now to his adult girlfriend. Well, you know, I use girlfriend loosely. He told her how he would take these teenage girls back to hotel rooms. He would ask them to wear school uniforms. He told Joanne that he wanted to roleplay that with her as if she was underage. He asked her to discuss certain topics with him that were clearly getting him off. things like abusing children and even killing them. Both Joanne and Ian were high as
[ __ ] on drugs when they would have these conversations. But then when they would sober up, like the next day, Joanne would ask him if if he was serious about everything that he'd said the night before, and he would just gaslight her and tell her that he literally ne never said anything like that. He never said what she was accusing him of. So, she's starting to feel [ __ ] insane. But after two years of this progressively dark relationship, Joanne started to come off the drugs. And by 2008, when she had completely sobered up, Ian would send her an image that is too vile for me to mention, too vile for me to describe. And this image would be the final nail in the coffin for Joanne. I'm sure you can imagine what the kind of content was. The child in said image was five years old and Ian even claimed to be the adult in that image that was abusing the child. Joanne felt violently sick when he said all of this to her.
The infatuation that she had once had for this disgusting man had evaporated. And she told him that she was reporting him to the police cuz that is too [ __ ] far. She had physical proof of it. He couldn't gaslight this. Now, he couldn't tell her that he literally never said or did that because she had the physical proof. Now, Ian, of course, tried to stop her. He actually made her sign an NDA, which is, you know, an agreement that means that you can't say anything. You can't share secretive information. As if an NDA would ever hold up in a situation where literal child abuse is involved. But clearly, Watkins felt untouchable. He told her that if she did ever try to report him or if any of his victims ever came forward, nothing would come of it anyway because he had the same lawyer as P.
[ __ ] Diddy, an infamous celebrity lawyer who specialized in digging up dirt on victims, destroying their reputation in the eyes of the jury and in the eyes of the public and even just in general dragging out the legal proceedings for so damn long that they eventually just get dropped. They get forgotten about. These kind of lawyers are very rarely just like good arguers, good lawyers. They just use every other trick in the book to win a case, no matter how slimy and sleazy and shady. But Joanne wasn't perturbed by all of this. She went to the police station anyway, and she told the police officers everything. That Ian was having frequent sexual interactions with underage fans, that he is a danger to young girls. But for some reason, police didn't believe what Joanne was telling them. I think because Lost Prophets and Ian Watkins were local hometown heroes, they were adored by the whole of Wales. So, police
just saw Joanne, an ex-girlfriend of this beloved celeb, as as if she's just trying to ruin his life post breakup. They thought that she was just trying to make his life a misery with baseless claims. Essentially trying to cancel him, trying to get him canled. Police saw Joanne as an unreliable witness for a few reasons. They saw her as mentally unstable. They knew that she had a very recent drug addiction, even though she was sober. Now, for some reason, that affected this. And the fact that she was a sex worker was, I don't know, something in their eyes. To me, none of these are important. None of them are relevant to her coming to the police station and saying, "I have [ __ ] proof that this guy is abusing children." The fact that she's a sex worker doesn't have [ __ ] all to do with any of this. But frustratingly, in fact, it'll make you furious. Police dismissed her. They dismissed this case
entirely. She did try to tell them like, "No, I have evidence. He sent me pictures. He says this disgusting stuff to me over text all the time." But did they even want to see her phone? No. Like, is it not your job to at least look into the validity of accusations like this? How? You can't just someone come to you and try to report a crime and you go, "No, I don't believe you." Like, what are the police basing this on? A gut feeling? [ __ ] [ __ ] check. If she's saying that she has proof, just check the damn phone. If they had looked at what she was trying to show them, they would have seen a message that Ian Watkins had sent her that read, "Wishlist a 12-year-old. [ __ ] underage twins."
Literally a wish list of child abuse. And police never saw it because they didn't believe Joanne. So nothing was done. Uh police didn't contact Ian Watkins, nothing at all. Joanne was so frustrated, knowing damn well that she had proof that he had committed sick crimes. So, she kept trying to gather evidence, enough evidence that couldn't possibly be ignored. And to do so, she had to go back into the lion's den. She had to keep playing the part with Ian, being the trustworthy girlfriend that he felt comfortable enough to divulge his deepest, darkest, twisted fantasies, too. So Joanne was speaking to him regularly and compiling a bunch of messages of him saying this sick, disgusting stuff and she would take it to the police time and time again only to be turned away every single time. And when I say this, I don't mean it's like every week and they're turning her down and they think she's just been like
annoying and like harassing them. There were years between some of these reports. She was trying for so long to get police to just listen to her, to just look into it. She was collecting evidence. She tried to report Ian in 2009, in 2011, a further five times in 2012 because the evidence just kept coming to her and police weren't listening. I can't even imagine how insane this could make a person feel. You are turning up to the people that are [ __ ] there to help. They say that that's what their job is. You're turning up with piles of valid evidence and the police are calling you crazy. They're saying that you're just a jealous ex. Oh my god. Speaking of making her feel crazy, when they did eventually look at one of the images that she showed them that has since been confirmed to have been of a 5-year-old child, the police actually said to Joanne's face that the evidence that she was showing them was
false because, well, that looks like a consensual adult woman to us. Are you [ __ ] joking me? Which stupid [ __ ] officer looked at a photo of a five-year-old child and saw a fully grown woman? You know what? Check that officer's hard drives while we're at it, cuz that's actually [ __ ] weird. To see a consensual sexual participant where there is actually a short, not yet physically fully developed human being. That's [ __ ] up. That's weird as [ __ ] Since the police didn't really seem to care, Joanne reported Ian to child protective services instead. But still, nothing was done. Nothing was done. Are you hearing me? This poor woman genuinely felt like she was losing her [ __ ] marbles. She was running out of options. So then in some kind of like last resort attempt to get someone anyone to listen, Joanne emailed Ian Watkins own mother and told her everything, thinking surely that could
be the one thing to sober him up cuz what mother could allow her own offspring to harm children. But Mumsy ignored the email, thinking that Joanne was just lying about her son just trying to ruin his life. Very similar to what the police thought. In fact, it gets even more mental because either Ian's own mother or someone that knew her reported Joanne to the police for harassment because of this email. They said that she was harassing Ian Watkins mother. And the police actually investigated her on these claims. The police literally thought that questioning and cautioning Joanne was a better use of their time than even just looking at the phone, looking into reports of frequent child abuse. How could you ignore that? It really says something about how corrupt the police force was when it came to protecting their favorite hometown hero. So many children were in danger and being actively abused. There was evidence of
all of it and not one professional in the social care industry wanted to know about it. Of course, this case is just soul destroying thinking of just how many children were affected by this one man. So, I think before we get any further, let's take a moment to talk about an incredible organization dedicated to supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse, violence, and trauma. They're called One in Four. Their name comes from the heartbreaking statistic that one in four people will experience sexual abuse before the age of 18 while they are still children. So this organization provides counseling support and advocacy for survivors and their families. You can find their website linked in the description of this episode. It's 1in4.org.uk and there you can find heaps of information, resources, and ways to reach out for help. And of course, there is the option to donate to help fund the incredibly crucial work that they do for
people. Our link tree, the outlaw resources link tree can also be found linked in the description of this episode with even more resources and support on a range of different topics. Help is out there always. I promise you that. But back to Ian Watkins. Despite him being reported many, many times and it falling on deaf ears, justice would come to him eventually. Whilst Joanne had been reporting him and getting nowhere, Lost Profits as a band were only getting more successful. They were touring the world, releasing albums, hitting the charts. Things went unchanged for Ian and the gang. And that goes for Ian's depravity as well. In fact, it only got worse and worse as it went unchecked. And now, not only was he abusing his underage teenage fans, he was finding ones who were of age with children of their own that they might be willing to hand over to him. And that's true. He was using fans to get to their
babies. Now, I won't be too graphic about anything coming up, but I know that this is just a [ __ ] up topic in general. So, I do want to give you another opportunity to maybe click out of this episode here if you need to. I love you so much. But, you know, your mental health is the most important thing. But if you're sticking around, let's expose some instances of his sick, [ __ ] up behavior. In late 2011, Ian began seeing a 19-year-old girl that he had picked up at one of his own shows. Her identity has been protected in this case. She's anonymous and you will soon find out why. But in this case, she is known only as woman B. She was a huge, huge fan of lost profits and Ian knew that full well. Then when he found out that she had a baby boy, he liked her even more. He began pushing the boundaries of their relationship, coercing her into letting him abuse her baby, who was just 10 months old.
Not even a full year. He's 10 months. He can't walk. He can't talk. He can't even eat solid [ __ ] food yet. And I hate to say that woman B let Ian abuse her child. They texted back and forth planning the whole thing. They talked about getting this innocent little baby high on crystal meth. A tiny little babbling baby that does nothing but trust. Ian texted woman B saying, "Come down this weekend and we can [ __ ] him up." To which she replied, and this made me feel sick to my [ __ ] stomach. She said back to him, "Tell me if you want to get your dick in our boy." On the 2nd of April, 2012, woman B took her 10-month-old baby boy to Ian Watkins hotel room and handed him over for this grown man to do whatever he desired to this baby and and he went about as far as he physically could. Woman B also gladly filmed the whole thing so that Ian could relive the of her child whenever he wanted and she can even be
heard in the background of this video encouraging Ian throughout the whole thing and even joining in herself. It's hard to feel any level of sympathy for her even though the courts tried to say that she was manipulated and she was coerced by Ian and and maybe there was a time like maybe there was a level of that but to go ahead with this yourself with your own child to hand your child over to someone who has told you that they want to abuse them I think that is unforgivable. I have zero sympathy for the women in this case that Ian uses to get to their children because they let him they let him do all this [ __ ] up [ __ ] It's the videos that do it for me.
It's it's her encouraging him and joining in. I think to be so actively enjoying the abuse of your own baby, you're all going to the deepest depths of hell. Like, I'm so serious. A month after that first assault, that's right, the first of multiple with this same baby boy, the baby's mother sends Ian a text message saying the boy is ready to be abused along with photos of her doing things to her own child. And I also want to point out her her wording of that the boy is ready to be abused. She is so disconnected from this baby as her own offspring. And the fact that she calls it abuse shows that she is so aware of what not only she is putting her baby through, but what Ian is doing to her child. A few months later, Ian messages her saying, "To be honest, I think we've gone easy on him so far." And then he says something else that I honestly just I can't bring myself to repeat. Just know that it gets
worse. It gets way worse. He is very blunt and sinister with his wording when it comes to all this kind of stuff. Like it's stomach churning to read these reports, gang. It truly was. Not only was this a regular thing with woman B and her child, but there was also a second woman that he was doing the exact same thing with, and she is known as woman P. Now, the two of them met in August 2012 when it was already a regular thing with woman B and her child. Ian and P start texting and flirting, and she had a one-year-old daughter. Ian very quickly began texting openly about his depraved predilictions.
He would speak to this woman the same way that he spoke to the other, mainly about her child. He said that if she woman P belonged to him then so did her daughter and she responded understandable a mother daughter slave duo worshiping you he replied with that's all she will know a life of filth this woman was just as reciprocal as the other women encouraged Ian's dark twisted desires woman P told him the good thing about babies is that they will put anything in their mouth and starting it. Guys, it actually just makes me feel sick. I can't believe people even have these thoughts, never mind putting them into text and sending them knowing that it's arousing another human being. Just what the [ __ ] Woman P told Ian that she had a fantasy of her and her own one-year-old daughter sharing him already. She talked about drowning her daughter so that they could carry things out on her, including
animals in the whole thing. Woman P would take videos of herself aing her own daughter and she would send them to Ian. They would even call on Skype and do this whole thing live. And he was, of course, pleasuring himself the whole entire time. Ian referred to Woman P's daughter as his little F toy. and suggested that they should sell her to other old disgusting men so that they could also have their way with her. And possibly one of the worst quotes from this whole [ __ ] case, Ian says to her she needs to know mommy and daddy don't love her. She's just there to make us, you know, so [ __ ] dark and disgusting. I know you probably feel just as sick as I do right now, but thank God an end was in sight. Soon, an arrest would be made. In September 2012, whilst Ian was actively abusing multiple kids, he would be arrested on a totally unrelated drug charge. He had been smuggling stuff back and forth from the
US and UK while he was on tour. And police had been investigating him for this for quite some time now. and they finally felt that they had grounds to get a search warrant and raid his house. They obviously expected to only find evidence of drug smuggling. But finally, now they would be faced with undeniable evidence of this man's dark, depraved secrets. Ian's electronics were seized and scoured. Police officers were sick to their stomachs to see almost 100 images of abuse and indecency. Some of them involving Ian himself acting out the abuse on these children. None of the children featured in these images and in these videos were over the age of 14 and the youngest was just 2 years old. Bear in mind Ian Watkins himself has personally abused babies as young as 10 months old in real life as well. Here in the UK we have a number grading scale to categorize indecent images of children in court cases. It starts from grade one
which is often sexually suggestive posing all the way up to grades four and five which are the most sickening, penetrative, torturous images of abuse. They can involve weapons and and animals and and Ian Watkins had 90 images in total. Half of them, 45 of them were category 4 and two of them were level five, which is the worst of the worst, truly unmentionable things. 22 of the images discovered in his possession included beastiality. This man is not only a danger to children, but a danger to animals and probably women, too, since it seems that he gets off on blatantly bulldozing a living being's ability to consent. In fact, the only people, the only beings that he seems to be attracted to are those with absolutely zero ability to consent to him in the first place.
That's what he likes. the power and the knowledge that he is physically torturing and destroying another living being without their consent, without their knowledge even. [ __ ] these these kids won't they will have been too young to even understand what was going on. Man, many of the images and videos that were recovered were of women B and P and their children. videos and pictures that they had sent to Ian of themselves abusing their own children for him. It's all just so harrowing that no one was looking out for these kids that the adults around them that are there to protect and love and nurture these children are doing the exact opposite.
Oh my god. And another thing that police found when they were, you know, hacking into his electronics and stuff, even though police have their ways to bypass people's laptop passwords and and they can access deleted files, they did still managed to find out what Ian Watkins laptop password was. It was I [ __ ] kids. like truly [ __ ] grim that he had set that password knowing that he would get to type it in probably multiple times a day and and relive his desires. But as the police were forensically examining Ian's devices, he was still actually actively touring and playing gigs for a couple of months as police were discovering all of this [ __ ] in real time. Even with evidence and an investigation into him being one of the most revoling aberses in British history, he could still go out on stage and perform to his screaming adoring fans who at this point had no idea who he truly was, at least not yet. But they
would very soon find out just how sick and twisted he was when Ian Watkins was arrested on December 17th, 2012. and it became national news immediately. One of the biggest rock stars in the country was a disgusting pedophile. So many people were massively shocked. They couldn't believe it. Other people, however, especially the young teenage fans that saw his darker side peeking through when it came to them. They weren't really surprised to hear that his abs had reached even further than themselves. His behavior speaks to a pattern, a want and a need for control and to dominate just to feed himself sexually. And worse yet, it had to be at the expense of someone's comfort and safety. It could never be a consensually agreed on dynamic with a woman of appropriate age. That simply just wouldn't work to get Ian off. It had to be someone vulnerable and it had to be something illegal. Upon Ian's arrest,
Lost Profits released an official statement that read, "Following charges made today against Ian Watkins. We find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers." There's never been any evidence to suggest that the rest of the band knew what their lead singer was doing, and I'm not really allowed to sit here and accuse anyone of anything, so I'm not going to do that. But he was bringing 13year-olds backstage to the same backstage where the rest of the band hung out every night. And they want me to believe that they didn't see or know a thing. In my personal opinion, it is so much [ __ ] to say that they had no clue. They might not have known truly how dark and sinister it was, but I just can't bring myself to believe that they didn't see
some shady [ __ ] or they didn't have an inkling that Ian Watkins was up to no good with Young Girls. I'm sorry. I just personally, myself and no one else. I don't believe it. But the band would eventually break up since their reputation was tarnished beyond repair by these allegations. Even before they could be proven or disproven by the courts, everyone just [ __ ] hated Lost Profits now. So, the members ended up forming a new band with a new lead singer all the way from America. They called themselves No Devotion. And while the band is still active now going into 2026, it doesn't have all the original Lost Prophets members anymore. Ian's stepfather, the church minister, also came out with a statement when the news of the arrest broke. He told the press that both he and Ian's mother were overwhelmingly heartbroken at what they had learned about their son. In fact, Ian's own mother had been taken ill
because of the amount of stress this had caused her. And you know what? That is one thing that I always feel an almost like guilty kind of sympathy for. It's for the mothers of criminals. Like, it's different when it's an abusive mother who has raised and created an abusive son. That I have no sympathy for. But as far as we can tell with Ian Watkins mother, she did everything right. She gave him the best life that she possibly could. She never abused him. She never exposed him to anything awful. He just grew up, left the family home, and became an evil, depraved human being.
Her own flesh and blood. Not only would you be devastated to hear all the crimes that have been inflicted, all the people, all the children, babies harmed by your own flesh and blood. But you're also literally coming to terms with the fact that you are kind of the reason that he is here on this earth. I can't speak for Ian's mother, but I can only imagine myself in that position. And I can honestly say I would regret having that baby. I would regret bringing life into this world. If I knew that the fruit of my womb would harm babies the way that Ian Watkins did, it would make me sick to my [ __ ] stomach. That my genes were what made half of that vile individual. But alongside Ian Watkins, both women P and woman B were arrested, too. Their children were thankfully removed from their care. And when all of these three grotesque human beings were charged for their heinous crimes, a trial date was set for 2013. This all
happened, these arrests and all of this coming to light happened just one week before Christmas. But of course, all three of them were denied bail and they spent their happy holidays in a cold concrete cell all alone. They all denied the charges against them, which is quite frankly insane given that there was so much evidence, literal video evidence of their crimes of them in the [ __ ] photos and videos. As the trial approached, woman B ended up changing her plea to guilty. And then at the very last minute before it was due to begin, woman P and Ian Watkins himself followed suit. So now that they had all changed their plea to guilty, a trial didn't need to go ahead, just a sentencing hearing. All three of them had been assessed by psychiatrists, and they were all deemed to have been of sound mind when they committed their disgusting acts. None of them ever had any remotely similar charges or run-ins with police
in the past. One of the women had like a fraud charge or something, but none of them had ever been suspected of violent or abusive crimes. No crimes against children. This couldn't have been seen coming, at least in the eyes of the law. I mean, famously, Joanne saw this coming and she was trying to report it for [ __ ] years. But despite the three of them seeming like unlikely criminals, the fact of the matter is that they were charged with some of the most vile things possible. The first thing that the judge did in that courtroom was give a warning to everyone for the genuinely harrowing content that they were about to hear. He said, "Those who have appeared in these courts at the bar or on the bench over many years see and hear a large number of horrific cases.
This case, however, breaks new ground. Any decent person looking at and listening to the material here will experience shock, revulsion, anger, and incredul. What U3 did plumbed new depths of depravity. After every disgusting text was read aloud and every indecent image was described in painful detail and I'm guessing shown, the sentences were given. Woman P with the baby girl was handed 17 years and deemed to be a low to medium risk of reaffending and harming children again. Woman B with the baby boy was sentenced to 14 years and deemed to be a medium to high risk of reaffending.
Now, don't ask me why the sentence is higher for the one that they deem to be a lower risk. I couldn't even begin to understand when it comes to police and courts of law. Sometimes you just have to read a decision, sigh, and go about your day to avoid getting frustrated beyond repair. Ian Watkins himself was sentenced to 29 years in prison with a further six upon his release on the UK's version of parole. He would be serving his time in prison in Her Majesty's Prison Wakefield, one of the most notorious prisons in Britain, known as the Monster Mansion. HMP Wakefield houses some of the most depraved, [ __ ] up criminals in the country. We're talking serial killers, violent rapists, including the likes of Levi Beleffield, Ian Huntley, Harold Shitman. Ian Watkins very much deserved to be in such a notorious hall of infamy. He was the worst of the worst. And despite a very successful career as a singer, he was
now famous for all the wrong reasons. He was the most hated man in Britain. But one person who was nowhere near his level, not even close, was his ex-girlfriend Joanne. Remember her? Who had been fighting to get Ian locked up for years, mind you? Well, suddenly police began to turn on her. They accused her of committing the same sickening crimes as Ian and the other women, and a whole new hell was about to break loose. Joanne had been to the police countless times at this point with piles and piles of evidence relating to Ian's crimes, and they had never once cared enough to look into the case. Only now, they'd been forced to.
And some of the evidence that they had on file for Ian was a bit incriminating for Joanne as well, honestly. Now, we know that she was talking to Ian and maintaining his trust for this sole reason, so that he would feel confident enough to be vocal and brazen about his sick desires and the crimes that he was committing. What she was doing was speaking with him in a way that she hoped would solicit some kind of incriminating response from him. But since it was done without police supervision, it did just kind of look like Joanne was joining in with him and encouraging him. It looked like she was also enjoying the conversation because she was playing this part. And so in January of 2014, 2 months after Ian's trial, Joanne was also arrested and charged with possession and distribution of child abuse images. They said that because she had willingly engaged with Ian on these topics of conversation that
she was a willing participant in the abuse that she was just as bad as Ian Watkins. Of course, she tried to defend herself, but police weren't having it the same way that they never wanted to hear anything from her. Personally, in my opinion, I think that the police just hadn't liked Joanne from day one. They thought that she was unstable, that she was crazy, she was a jealous ex-girlfriend, or maybe she was a fan girl, maybe she was all of it, all in one. They thought that she was just trying to ruin the reputation of their hometown hero. And on top of it all, she was a sex worker as well. There's just several layers of misogyny all throughout this case. Let's be real, but especially when it comes to Joanne.
While the police later denied that they ever ignored or brushed Joan aside, commissioners did also say that they had been waiting for the right type of complainant to come along because Joanne wasn't the right type of complainant. She wasn't the perfect victim to them. She was unstable. She couldn't be trusted. I don't know. Maybe just check the [ __ ] phone, though. That's the thing that gets me is the severity of the crimes that are being alleged. If she was coming in and she seemed really unstable and she was like, "Oh, my friend stole my handbag." Maybe I would understand police being a bit trepidacious to even bother looking into a crime like that. But for someone to come in and say, "I have proof of someone abusing children." And for them to go, "But you're A SEX WORKER." WHAT?
SHUT UP. I just think it's so [ __ ] insane for them to admit that they had been waiting for a more favorable victim to come forward and report the abuse before they were going to do anything about it. It's [ __ ] insane, actually. Quite frankly, it makes me so mad. So, well, let's actually try to get back on track because right now they're accusing Joanne of willingly creating and distributing awful content, but she had so much proof of her telling the police time and time again that she was only engaging with Ian in this way to coax evidence out of him. It was a truly frustrating and emotional time for Joanne. But finally in January 2015, after a whole year of being accused, she was finally cleared of the charges against her. After feeling gaslit, manipulated, and ignored for years on years, Joanne finally felt seen and understood. It's just such a shame that they dragged her through hell before
this point. She was asked outside of the court if she ever regretted meeting Ian Watkins. And Joanne said, "Yes, I regret meeting him." But if I hadn't met him, then no one would have reported him. So I guess I can't regret anything because I was the one who kept going back and going back and reporting and reporting, literally the whole world was against me. Following this [ __ ] show of a case, an investigation was done into how the police handled everything. And what do you know? They were discovered to be the shittiest, most incompetent police team on earth of all time. I mean, that wasn't the official wording of the report, but it might as well have been.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission produced a report that showed how the police failed to act on eight reports and three evidence logs. Total incompetence, and in my opinion, blatantly ignoring and covering [ __ ] up. At least that's what it looks like to me with my own two eyes. Joanne wasn't going crazy. She had all the evidence that they could possibly need. They just didn't want to open this case. They just didn't want to protect children at the risk of exposing their hometown hero. And what makes it all even worse is that Joanne wasn't even the only person sharing her concerns with the police.
Six other separate individuals had been to the police about Ian Watkins as well. Six. And they'd all gotten the Joan treatment. These tips had come in to several different police forces as well. South Wales, Bedfordshire, South Yorkshire. I'm embarrassed. Yorkshire, don't do that to me. Still, nothing was done. So, it's not even just the one police team that were [ __ ] and corrupt. People up and down this country were aware of what was happening, or at least they'd been made aware of the possibility. And still no investigation.
I feel like all the police teams were treating it like a [ __ ] stolen bike or something, like a vandalized shop front. There was no urgency to look into this or resolve this whatsoever. These aren't the kind of accusations that can be swept under the rug or put off for another day. Everything that they were being told painted Ian Watkins as an immediate danger to children. And all of these different police officers up and down the country were just sat on their hands letting it happen. the fact that the only reason this whole case did blow up in the end is because of drug smuggling accusations as well. Not even because they finally decided to investigate the claims. How many kids could have been saved if the police had looked at Joann's phone back in 2008 when she first told them that she had proof? It's harrowing to think how different this case could have and should have been, but it wasn't because
of police incompetency. But at least now Ian Watkins was finally locked up in a maximum security prison where he can't hurt anyone else. In fact, now he was there, it was everyone else who wanted to hurt him. We all know that there's an inmate hierarchy in prisons here in the UK at least. Prisoners who have committed crimes against children are at the very bottom of the barrel. They're the scum of the inmate population and they become targets for violent abuse and attacks. their fellow criminals like to make sure that child abusers don't get an easy ride in prison and that they live out their punishment every single day. For that exact reason, Ian Watkins was actually under a special kind of protection for his first year in prison.
He was kept away from other inmates for his own safety. He was thought of as a vulnerable prisoner, which that wording just makes me [ __ ] furious. Ian Watkins was not a vulnerable person. the many, many children that he abused were genuinely vulnerable, actually vulnerable. He shouldn't even be considered vulnerable when he's actually just reaping what he sowed. He's laying in the bed that he made. And even though Ian was given hell by the other inmates in prison, trust me, it wasn't all [ __ ] for him because he was somehow still getting girls from behind bars. As a known danger to children, girls still wanted this man. I know. What the [ __ ] Groupies continued to write to him in prison and they would even come to visit him at Wakefield Prison. Women still wanted to be close to this man and I really just can't [ __ ] work out why.
But I mean, it's not like we've never seen this before. We've seen this happen with the likes of Ted Bundy and Richard Ramirez. There is a genre of damaged person out there that is attracted to genuinely serious, dangerous, evil people. I mean, it could never be me, but good luck out there. When these girls would come to visit Ian, he would be all over them. They would be holding hands and giggling, and he would give them a goodbye kiss on the way out. Like, is any of that even allowed, by the way? Whatever. Annoyingly, he was getting by in prison just fine. He was being bullied. Yeah. But he seemed to be getting by relatively easy. But trust me, if you have seen this case in the news lately, you know that it didn't end well for Watkins. But for a number of years, it was manageable. In fact, Watkins was breaking the prison rules.
In 2019, oh my god, in 2019, during a routine strip search, he was found to have shoved a mobile phone up his ass. He was found with a phone up his bum. Like, full offense. That's really embarrassing. What do you mean? You shoved a whole entire phone up your [ __ ] ass and you still got found out and told off? What a loser, man. But yeah, he'd had a phone smuggled in. I'm not sure by who. And he had been texting people, specifically a woman called Gabriella who was an ex-girlfriend of his who had actually cut him off after all the news came out of what was on his hard drives. But it seems that she'd had a change of heart and got back in touch with him and somehow had a phone smuggled in for him. Ian was given an additional 10 months on his sentence for the phone in his butt. Um, oh my god, it just reminds me of those memes that's like me leaving the club with the speakers up my ass or whatever. But no,
sorry. Let's It's time to get serious again now, though. I've already told you that Ian was bullied to [ __ ] in prison. Good. But it was about to reach new heights in 2023. By this point, he had been behind bars for almost a decade. But on a random Saturday in August of that year, three inmates approached Ian and took him hostage. They locked themselves away while they beat and tortured and stabbed Ian for hours. The motivation behind this attack has been debated. Some people think that they did it over drug debt cuz apparently Ian was managing to smuggle drugs in probably through his [ __ ] as well, which is just delightful that everyone was sharing that. But some other people think that it was just in general like everyone was out to get Ian Watkins in that prison for multiple reasons.
Obviously, he was the lowest of the low, the most disgusting prisoner in there in a lot of their eyes. But there's also the fact that he's a celebrity and if you were to attack a celebrity in prison and your name is back in the news, you get a bit of notoriety for being the inmate that hurt the other inmate, you know. But anyway, these three men had Ian locked away from the rest of the prison for six whole hours. six hours and staff knew what was going on the whole entire time. They were trying to put a stop to it, but it was difficult because it was dangerous. These three inmates had a weapon. They had this knife thing. Well, it wasn't actually a knife. It was a toothbrush that they like shaved down and made a bit of a shiv out of. All police guards could really do was try to negotiate with these men to let Ian go, but obviously they wouldn't. So after six hours, a specially trained unit arrived at HMP
Wakefield to break up the situation and rescue this man that didn't even deserve rescuing. When they pulled him out of the room, they saw that Ian Watkins had been stabbed multiple times. He was transferred to the hospital in the prison where he was patched up and then he was sent right back to his cell because honestly these injuries weren't life-threatening, at least this time. But don't you worry, his fellow inmates had a goal. They had a mission. If it was up to them, Ian Watkins wouldn't make it out of that prison alive, and he would never be able to hurt another child ever again. His day would come. On Saturday, the 11th of October, 2025, Ian was 48 years old when he woke up in his cell for the very last time. A few hours into his morning, Ian would be approached by two other inmates. One of them had a makeshift knife in their hand that they plunged deep into his neck.
They were trying to kill him with that location. How deep they drove the weapon. They were murdering Ian Watkins. And as he lay bleeding out on the floor, prison staff were alerted and medics rushed in to try and save him, but it wouldn't work. Ian Watkins was dead. His killers were named as 43-year-old Samuel Dodsworth and 25-year-old Rasheed Goodell. And even though they might seem like heroes in this story, don't get too fond of them because, well, they're imprisoned for a reason as well. Dodsworth was serving a 24-year sentence for the kidnap and rape of a woman that he had just snatched off the streets.
And Goodell was in there for 27 years for murdering a 22-year-old man and repeatedly stabbing a 16-year-old as well. So, we've got a kidnapping rapist and a murderer, I guess, who is also an attempted child murderer as well. And they still saw Ian Watkins as the lowest of the low for what he had done to literal babies. So, that's him dead and gone, turned to worm food. In November 2025, Samuel Dodsworth plead not guilty to Ian's murder. And Rasheed Goodell actually refused to leave his cell and failed to enter a plea entirely. So, the trial for both of them is scheduled for May 2026. So, I guess there'll be more updates to follow. Ian Watkins crimes were shocking, devastating, utterly horrific. But talking about it helps us to understand and and clock the signs.
