He's in a dingy basement. His surgeon isn't holding sterile equipment or wearing a mask. Instead, he's got a red kitchen knife in his hand, and the whole thing is surrounded by cameras being live streamed to the internet. And soon paying viewers would flood the comments thanking the surgeon for his work while his patient is rushed off to a real hospital to try to fix the butchery that was just inflicted upon him.

Now, with that being said, let's dive head first into one of the most gruesome cases I have come across in quite a long time. So

He was born in 1977 and raised in a small rural port town in Norway called Dramman. He was an only child, but practically his whole entire family lived together under one roof like extended family, grandparents aunties, uncles. So, it was never a lonely childhood even though he was the only kid. He was however quite a quiet child who never really fit in. He knew from a very young age that he was gay and therefore he kind of believed at the time that he was something separate to everyone else. He never felt fully comfortable with others. He would play by himself a lot in the playground. It was also suspected that Marius had autism which will have only added to that feeling of being different and misunderstood by his peers and by adults. But he sounded like a good kid.

4:57 He was shy, yes, but he was sweetnatured. In 1991, he was aged 14 when Marius somehow got his hands on a book all about human bodies across the world. It was an educational book, of course, but it was about to rewire Marius's brain forever. On one of the pages was a picture of a group of male Indian unuks, people who had had their entire genitalia surgically removed. This was the first time that Marius had seen anything like it or even been like alerted to it as a concept. If you don't know what a unic is, I'll be honest this case was the first time that I personally had come across it. But apparently, it's in Game of Thrones, I haven't actually seen that, but someone who's seen that, can you confirm? It's essentially a historic term for someone who has been castrated by having their whole genitalia lobbed off. It goes as far back as ancient times. Obviously this is quite barbaric [ __ ] cuz

Because obviously animals had been castrated by farmers, I guess like since the dawn of time. So they thought, well, maybe it's a good idea to try and do this to humans, to criminals that are aggressive in order to lower their testosterone, their anger, their power to fight back. People want this procedure doing for a variety of reasons. For some non-binary people it's gender affirming surgery. If having either kind of sexual organ would have them feeling some sort of distress often those kind of people will prefer to not have any genitalia at all. They will remove everything, sometimes even the womb if the person has one, and leave them with literally just a hole to do their business through. Others might not do it specifically for like gender affirming reasons, but maybe because using or seeing their genitals could trigger some horrific trauma like flashbacks and stuff. So, in extreme last resort cases, those people might also opt to remove everything completely. This procedure is called nullification. There's a whole community

7:41 of people out there that have opted to do this or they have the desire to get it done at some point and these people call themselves nullos. These communities usually exist online since I'm sure you can imagine it's quite a rare desire for someone to have. There are whole groups of these people that have formed like little real communities, real life communities. They're very happy to have gone through the nullification process. When Marius was 14 years old and he saw that image of the Unix in his biology book, he didn't realize just how much it would change his life. He felt an immediate sense of connection and understanding with these men. And from then on, Marius would be plagued with the urge to surgically remove his own parts, not even just his genitalia, although that is where it all began. Going through puberty, Marius apparently tried to remove his own penis twice. One time by hitting it with a hammer. Another time

8:38 he poured boiling water all over it. It's oh my gosh, it's already a very gruesome episode, isn't it? But it does seem that after these two brutal attempts, Marius soon stopped trying to hurt himself in that way. Maybe he managed to bury or satisfy the urges some other way for a while. And I do want to acknowledge that Marius never seemed to identify as non-binary. I mean, maybe there's a possibility that he just didn't have the terminology for it back then. He would have been having all these thoughts and feelings as a kid in the '9s. Would he have even known what non-binary was? But truly, as this case progresses, it seems that he is very much happy with being a man, just not with having a penis. Perhaps that in itself does count as gender dysphoria.

9:23 Admittedly, I'm not an expert in this field, but I did think it was important to clear up now that his motivations and his desire to do this seem to be coming from a different place to gender dysphoria later on. That place was very much sexual gratification. You'll see later. Nullification and removing body parts, whether it was his own or other people's, became a fetish for Marius later on in life. But again, we couldn't possibly know how it was affecting him as a teenager. But despite whatever confusion he was experiencing, Marius seemed to do really well for himself in school. He was still very quiet like he had been as a child. But as a teenager he was brainy. He was academically gifted. He became a figurehead of his high school. You know, kind of like a head boy role. And he started to come out of his shell once he was in that position. He had a lot of responsibility and he became a much more social

10:18 confident person. In his late teens Marius came out to everyone that he knew as gay and he became the leader of the lesbians and gays organization for freedom. He was very, very passionate about his community and about helping other queer people. He really did start out as a good egg. He campaigned to get queer representation in the sex education within our schools. He volunteered on weekends and taught and trained other people. He was very very involved in the LGBT community in Oslo even helping to host their pride events.

10:50 But this is kind of where things start to slip for Marius. You see, he had a more manipulative side, and it would take a few more years to really come out. But it was at this point in his early adulthood where people were starting to see glimpses of the person that he would grow into. After completing his studies at business school, Marius took on a job as the leader of a housing association. But while he was working there, he quickly realized that he could pinch some of their money for his own home repairs. He began writing fake invoices and checks for repairs that he claimed were for the tenants that were living in the association's homes, but they weren't.

11:28 That money was going straight into Marius's own home. He was getting the whole damn thing redone. He was ramping up the claims. And after about £5,000 was finally flagged as missing, Marius was reported to the police for embezzlement. I think he lost that job with a warning that he didn't get too many repercussions. But then a few years later, he found a new job and he began embezzling again. But this time it was to the tune of 30,000 Great British pounds. Like I said, the first time he got away with a warning but certainly not this time. That is insane. In 1991, he was sent to jail for 8 months. And then when he was released it seemed that he really tried to become a new person, put a different foot forward. He started a new life, became a postman, he met his soon-to-be husband who he married a few years later in 2005. And it's at this point in time now that he's a married man and he's

12:20 settled down, that Marius's life goes through a period of of quiet stability and peace. It seemed like a really nice period of his life. him and his husband were really, really happy together. Obviously, I think they were still based in Norway at this point in time, but they would travel back and forth between England and Norway up until 2012 when they decided to just move to England for good. Oh, okay. So, my bad. I actually lied about it being 30,000 great British pounds earlier. It would have been in Norway money, which is what? Euros?

12:54 Norway money? Oh, Norwegian crone. I was not familiar with Norway's currency game. Anyway, sorry, my bad. What were we saying? But Marius and his husband have now moved to England. And for the first two years of their marriage, they lived in Bournemouth, which is a coastal town on the on the south coast. It's kind of close to London. I mean, it's no Brighton, but I am very biased in that that's that's my place. But anyways around 2014, they decided that they wanted to be in the big smoke in the hustle and bustle. So, they moved to London town. And this is where we see former good egg Marius take the first steps to become the human butcher. In 2014, Marius would have been around 37 years old when he became a lurker on various niche forums and online chat rooms. It was mostly different kinds of gay fetish communities, but it was not beginner level stuff. I'll tell you that for free. He was into the hardcore [ __ ]

13:48 And I mean, we are making a whole entire true crime episode about him, so you probably already assumed that he was an extreme kind of guy, but holy hell gang, he was into some mental [ __ ] Obviously, all your usual BDSM, sadism extreme bondage, everything on the extreme end of that spectrum that you're aware of, but also fetishes and kinks that you probably didn't even know existed, ones that are probably illegal in many a country. And then on top of all of that, he was a regular in the nullification forums because obviously the Unix that he first saw in that biology book, age 14, had stuck with him for decades. It was an itch that he had always had that he'd never been able to scratch. I wonder if he thought that being active in these forums and chat rooms could satisfy it. But truthfully making his account was just the start of his downward spiral. Online, Marius went by the name Nullo Theo. I'm not sure why

14:42 Theo it was. I think it's just a fake name. He just chose a fake name. But as he interacted with people more and more he started to make a name for himself within these communities. Finally, he had like-minded friends who understood his very unique urges and desires. Many of the people that we're going to be talking about in today's episode, the victims of this case, have been kept anonymous in police reports. So, we're going to, be, giving, out, placeholder, names like it's sweets on Halloween. But the first key individual that Marius connected with is a man that we're going to call Tom. Of course, because he chosen to remain anonymous. We don't really know that much about Tom or any of the other victims. Famously, you know that I hate when we can't find information about the people that we want to talk about. But since it was Tom himself that opted to have that anonymity, I guess we're going to let it

15:31 slide this time. But what we do know about Tom is that he was around Marius's age. He was in his 30s. He'd had a pretty nice life. He was from a middle-class family. He did well in school. Tom was also gay. He came out in his late teens just like Marius did. But despite finally being open with his identity, something still felt wrong for Tom. There was always something more going on. And soon when Tom stumbled across the concept of nullification and the null community, that was when it clicked. Tom had been experiencing a lot of gender dysphoria. In his own words "It was a physical feeling towards my genitalia." For a while, he tried to bury this feeling, but just like with Marius, it never really left him. It was a thorn in his side. Tom wanted his genitals gone, he felt like they weren't actually a part of him. And although he never spoke to a therapist or a doctor to assess that if this was an

16:26 appropriate action for him to take, you know, to like ease his suffering. For example, when people transition from one gender to another, they speak with medical professionals. There are assessments to check that this is the right thing for them to do because obviously it's a huge life change and you need support through that. But because Tom wasn't looking to transition to the opposite sex and instead just kind of wanted to cease to have a sex altogether, there wasn't really that sort of help available for him. Tom was in a really dark place. He felt totally alone. And then he met Marius online and they bonded over this shared feeling of wanting their parts gone. The two of them planned to meet up in person and it was a totally casual meet. It wasn't for sex or anything else crazy. Literally just to meet up and talk. And Tom said that he took an instant liking to Marius. But halfway through this meet

17:22 things took a turn when Marius pulled out a bag full of surgery tools, clamps scissors, all of it unsanitary, of course. He began telling Tom that they could just do it now. He could castrate him, nullify him right now on the spot with these [ __ ] animal surgery tools that he'd somehow gotten a hold of. Even though Tom was open to and in fact eager to be castrated, he hadn't expected to get such a serious offer that same day from some guy with zero medical qualifications the first time he'd ever met him. It spooked Tom and so he turned Marius down. The meeting ended fine enough. Tom still with his genitalia intact and with a good impression of Marius, his new friend. But after the meet, Tom couldn't stop thinking about the offer. Now that someone had come along and presented him with a potential real solution to his suffering, he just couldn't stop thinking about it. The two of them stayed friends and they began

18:18 seeing each other more often, meeting up in hotels and Airbnbs. And in their conversations, Marius would be very encouraging, perhaps a little pressuring, saying things like, "You need to do this. It's important for you. You'll be really disappointed if you don't do it." And eventually Tom found himself agreeing to having one of his testicles clamped. Now this is a method of castration used on animals where the blood is cut off from the testicle until it just like dies and drops off. Not only was Tom going to let Marius carry out this procedure, but he was also letting him record the entire thing to keep as a memory. As you'll see later on in this case, Marius clearly gets off on castrating other men. And Tom knew that what they were doing was not legal, but he thought that Marius was such a nice guy. He was so open, so knowledgeable but also, unbeknownst to Tom, he was so full of [ __ ] Marius had no idea how to

19:18 do this safely. He had never done anything like this before. He had no medical training, but he talked as if he did and he'd done a bunch of research so why not? Hey, I don't think he'd ever straight up told Tom like, "Look, I know how to do this. I'm a doctor. I'm a surgeon." I don't think he'd ever said it in those words, but he sounded confident, and I think that was enough for Tom. I think that also gives you an indicator as to how desperate Tom was to risk this. In this live recording, Tom is holding one of his own testicles. As Marius fits the clamp onto the top to cut off the blood supply, Tom is yowling in pain. His testicle begins to swell larger and larger, and soon he had to be rushed off to a real hospital to have the dead testicle removed from his body with emergency surgery. Now, I'm not entirely sure what he told the doctors had happened, cuz how the hell do you explain that? In the future, when Marius

20:13 would do this more and more, they would always make up different like domestic injury excuses and different accidents that they'd gone through when Marius's castration patients actually had to go to a real hospital. But I doubt that the doctors and surgeons ever believed the stories that these men were giving. After the surgery, Tom felt a slight relief to be part rid of his genitals and he stayed friends with Marius, who also seemed happy with how everything had gone down. I'm not sure what he'd been doing with the video recording of the whole thing. I don't think I want to know. But soon, Marius's personal life began to crumble. Him and his husband grew apart, and they began arguing more and more until 2016, when their relationship totally fell apart.

20:58 Throughout their marriage, Marius's husband had been such a grounding force in his life. Marius's urges had been quelled to a manageable degree while they were together. But now that they had parted ways, Marius was about to spiral. A feeling that had laid dormant for much of his adult life so far was reawakened in full force. And not only was he going to do something about it he was going to bring everyone else down with him. So he moved out of London and began his single era renting a dingy basement flat for himself in Haringay in North London. This place was tiny.

21:37 Hardly any bigger than just like one singular bedroom. But it was there that [ __ ] was about to go down. Now that Marius had a lot of time on his hands. In fact, I'm not entirely sure that he even had a job. So, no job, no husband. He was spending almost all hours of the day in these online forums discussing the same topics day in day out. Mainly castration and nullification. If it wasn't already clear to him at this point, all of this talk with others and the research that he was doing really clarified his interest in nullification.

22:07 It clarified that it wasn't just a gender dysphoria thing. In fact, it clarified that it was a sexual thing for him. And soon he would be turning these sexual desires into fullblown travel itineraries because Marius had discovered that gatherings called cutting parties existed. essentially meetups for people that are interested in castration, nullification, and the rest. More specifically, those that get sexual gratification from it all. Marius would fly all the way over to Germany from London to attend these sketchy events that were often hosted in Airbnbs. Doubt the Airbnb hosts knew about that. And bootleg surgery would be performed just in the kitchens, in the bedrooms for everyone to watch and get off on. And trust me, Marius saw a lot of [ __ ] at these parties. And we know a bunch of the stuff that he saw. And I'm not even going to start listing it all.

23:00 Both men and women having like opting consenting to have different body parts removed, bleeding profusely before his eyes. But Marius was inspired. He would later go on to host these exact same kind of events in his North London basement flat. But before he became a host himself, Marius would turn to others to help him satisfy his urge for genitalia removal. In December 2016, he decided that it was time. He wanted his penis removed. So online, he hooked up with a male sex worker called Damian Burns from Tottenham, which is not far from where Marius was living at the time. and he offered Damian 500 Great British pounds to come over and surgically remove his penis. As far as we're aware, Damian had never had a request quite like this before. Could you imagine receiving that message on what I'm guessing is some sort of like sex work or escorting website. The sex worker that Marius had chosen seemed

24:04 relatively random as well because Damian had no medical training or knowledge. And like I said, he'd never done anything like this before. So, it was hardly like he had a reputation in the sex work community for doing like under the table sex surgery. I don't know. But despite how batshit insane this request was, Damian seemed quite willing. We can only assume that he must have been desperate for money because well the amount of trouble that he could actually get into if things went wrong if he went ahead with this surgery and Marius died like he would go to jail for a while.

24:38 Damian even said something to Marius along the lines of, "I'm fine with doing this, but are you going to lose a lot of blood? Could you die?" To which Marius simply responded, "Yep, could happen." Both men knew full well how dangerous this whole thing was, but they were both willing to go ahead for different reasons. Not going to lie, Damian does seem like a weird guy who was in it for more than just like money desperation. He also seemed to get off on this on some level. He told Marius at one point that doing something like this was actually on his bucket list. So, right the Yeah, it was the perfect storm. Two weirdos found each other for real.

25:15 People have even joked online that if his rate for this like bootleg dangerous sex surgery is only £500, then he would probably shamelessly commit murder for like a grand. But hey, Marius had found the guy for the job and a surgery date was set. Of course, the whole thing would be recorded for Marius to be able to reminisce on and maybe get off to at a later date because trust me, he was still he was still metaphorically jing it even after he had his penis removed. I'm sure you can get imaginative with the other ways that he did it because we know for a fact that he would pleasure himself at surgeries to come. Even years down the line after he's got both his balls and his peen removed, he was he was making it work. Two months after Marius and Damian agreed on the chop, it was February 2017 and Marius was setting up his basement flat for the big day.

26:06 The camcorder switches on and he's already laying tied down to the bed with his mouth gagged to quell what would soon be screams of pure agony. Damian comes into the shot and gives Marius some anesthetic on the area to numb it a little bit. It didn't knock him out though. Marius was going to be awake for this whole thing. Damian lifts up a red-handled kitchen knife and gets to work. I'm not sure how many minutes it would have taken in total to literally hack it off, but that anesthetic would not have been doing much to help him through Jesus Christ. We know from a lot of other people's stories as well that this is a very, very painful procedure even with the bootleg anesthesia. But eventually, once Marius's penis is completely severed from his body, his gag was removed and he asks Damian to lay it on his tummy. And at one point Damian even lifts it up and puts it to Marius's face. He licks it and says

And one day he got a message from one of his internet friends who was connecting him with a young man named Jamie who was looking for advice.

Marius insisted that he and his team were very big on consent. they would never do something that someone hadn't

People were suffering around him in his pursuit of just getting his rocks off. But anyway, he had unlocked this new skill in it and he made this video streaming website called the Unic Maker. It was all behind a payw wall and there were different subscription tiers ranging from basic to premium to VIP with that top tier being 100 great British pounds. And for that you could get behind the payw wall and see much more than just butchering videos.

41:58 Actually, Marius was also just heavy into sexual torture as well. So, there were plenty of videos of him inflicting various horrific things on other men. We're talking electrocutions inserting needles up places that should never have a needle shoved up them. And then there was an element of this website that was kind of like eBay where you could pay for more videos or you could buy things like literal severed penises. The penises that you are watching being chopped off in these videos, you could go and buy it. In fact, I think they were like pickup only. So, you probably had to live in London or be willing to travel and carry a a rotting body part back with you. But Marius would freeze all the dicks that he cut off and he would keep them in a in a freezer in his apartment ready for the the rare buyers. Buyers didn't happen often, but I think they happened a few times, which is concerning. They

Marius never got any better at these surgeries these operations, every single butchering that he inflicted was just as grim as the last. And though screams could well be heard from the Harringay basement flat, no one ever called the police. Alongside all of this gruesome [ __ ] Marius was also straight up grooming the young Jacob Crimmy Applebee, who was 17 when they met, and he seemed to be in awe of Marius for

Surely you would have got like a bit of hypothermia or something

Um but anyway, when Marius was eventually discharged from hospital sometime later he was now registered disabled and so he was claiming benefits of around like 18 grand a year and he needed it to be fair cuz up until this point his mom had been paying his rent for him. Actually, a bit wild in your 40s, but whatever. Um, I'm not sure he had a job before the the great leg freezing anyway. And you know what? I don't want to speculate, but I wonder if he knew that his mom was going

So, we can be reassured that it wasn't just an insanely drastic thing that he did solely for money. Marius was the kind of guy to do that [ __ ] for free. Anyways but back to this guy, Michael. He had gotten in touch with Marius on the internet. Classic. Um, but mostly about like extreme BDSM and sexual torture.

Surprisingly the two of them maintained a friendship after this really weird attack. Let's be real, it's an attack. Michael was a very traumatized person, though. He had been

And if they did, they went for really cheap.

But even if they weren't, Marius was known to not pay up at all to some people that he had promised payment to. At this point surely that is also putting him in like organ trafficking territory. The crimes just keep mounting up for this man. But even though we know that Marius was full of [ __ ] Michael didn't at the time. He believed that he could get probably like upwards of 30 grand if he agreed to have his full genitalia removed. And so he did. He agreed. After an hour, he could no longer feel his testicles. And Marius determined that they were a goner. And so the clamps

And I'll just say this now, he was and will remain the only victim to have helped the police in this investigation that was about to ensue. But before we get into what the police thought about all of this, I do want to take a moment to spotlight a very important charity for today's episode called the Lucy Faithful Foundation. Now, where we left off, the police had only just been made aware of what was going on in some dingy basement flat, and it was all about to be blown wide open. By March 2021, police had gathered enough evidence to raid Marius's flat. And when they did, they uncovered a reall life torture chamber. He was arrested on the spot and taken to the police station while a group of officers stayed back at

56:11 his house to search the premises. And god did they find a bounty of evidence just laying around. They found the freezer, the freezer where Marius would keep all of his severed penises frozen and preserved. There were testicles like kept preserved in glass jars. Of course Marius's own parts were in and amongst all of this. There were so many different grim elements to this case. It meant that this investigation would end up being like four times the size of even a normal murder investigation. But weirdly enough, it wasn't breaking news. In fact, myself, my team, all of my friends, everyone that I've brought this case up to had never heard about it before. And it literally happened on our doorsteps in London only a couple of years ago. So why why wasn't it breaking news? Well, the answer seems quite simple, and that is that I don't think the authorities wanted it to be news.

57:48 Piecing the details of this case together has been quite complicated since almost everyone that was operated on has chosen to stay anonymous, and all of their stories are very, very similar anyway. So, it's hard to tease apart the details of each person's account. No one wanted to come forward. No one wants to put their name to this case and go into detail because everyone that went through these surgeries and that was involved have normal lives and normal jobs and a lot of people around them many of which will have no idea about their nullification surgeries or urges or the communities that they're involved in online. It would essentially out a lot of these people if they were to go to the police and give their accounts.

58:33 But in the end, when someone did eventually come forward, Marius's empire would crumble. He was charged with multiple counts of grievous bodily harm and he was held without bail for the next 12 months. And during that time his gang of cronies were all arrested as well. Some of these men explained the null community to the police and they argued that they felt as though they had to do these bootleg surgeries due to their gender dysphoria and the lack of options that the NHS has. But it's important to note that Marius's own situation wasn't just about gender identity. And if anything, I think it's detrimental to let any of them get away with that argument completely, seeing as there was such an a sexual element to almost every single one of these procedures. They were all pleasuring themselves and they would record it and pleasure themselves after the fact. Like it wasn't just about you know, gender affirming, but

So, as a result, people grow restless and they want to amputate healthy limbs cuz it just like feels wrong. It feels like it's not actually a part of their body. It's an alien part and it needs to be gone. It is BID is a brutal condition to live with and there is specialized therapy for it. In court Marius said that the procedures that he had undergone personally had really empowered him and so he wanted to be able to give that to others in his similar position. I mean, the way that

Preliminary hearings happened in March 2023, and the main defense for everyone involved was that everyone that they had operated on had been consenting. Marius submitted a not-uilty plea. So that meant that a trial would have to go ahead. But that was less than ideal. It would really publicize this case and police would much rather it be kept kept quiet. So to not inspire copycat situations. That's one of the reasons it wasn't breaking news. And also it would

1:01:19 just be a really [ __ ] expensive trial considering how many people were involved, how many people would have to be prosecuted and cross-examined. There was also a mountain of evidence to go through. And that same mountain of evidence also shows people being willing and consenting. So it was going to be a really tricky trial to try and argue. But also now there was a huge question looming over this potential trial. How far can someone consent to their own butchery? Well, weirdly enough, there had been a somewhat similar case, but much more tame in comparison that happened in 2015 with a man who performed body modification procedures on paying customers. He went by the name Dr. Evil, and he would do things that you've probably heard of before, you know, like inserting molds under the skin. It's all very rare, but I've definitely heard of this kind of thing happening before. And you know that

1:02:12 procedure that people get where it like splits their tongue in half like a like a forked snake tongue. I think it's called like bifocation. Well, he would do all that which is stuff like at least I have seen before. And that would all be totally legal and fine if done by a licensed surgeon or artist. But Dr. Evil aka Brendan McCarthy was not licensed to be doing the [ __ ] that he ended up doing. The procedures got larger and more outside of the parameters of what was legal and Dr. Evil ended up removing people's ears, whole entire ears gone.

1:02:46 Trust me, I've seen the scarring and it looks creepy. He was removing people's whole nipples. And soon the police were on to him. Although Dr. Evil never felt like he was doing anything wrong since all of his patients were coming to him and asking for these procedures to be done. They were consenting. It was all out in the open. He even went on TV shows to talk about this very unconventional job that he had. Little did he know the whole time what he was doing was kind of illegal. Well, no, it was illegal. After Dr. Evil removed a nipple on a TV show, police arrested him and he was sentenced to 60 months in prison, 5 years. All because he was unknowingly violating the offenses against the person act of 1861. A very old law, but it is essentially a consent law. And part of it states that a person cannot consent to the infliction of a serious level of harm upon themselves.

1:03:42 So even though Dr. Evil's clients believed that they were consenting individuals, this law says that they can't possibly be. When this law was raised at the preliminary stage of like Marius and his gangs hearing, it was like game over for all of them. They would get got in the exact same way that Dr. Evil did. So now Marius Gustavson switched his plea to guilty in the hopes of lightening his sentence, but it was going to be hard to lighten that sentence considering how much other [ __ ] was against him. There was the CP and beiality content that was found on his electronics. There was evidence, oh my god, this came out in the trial. There was evidence that he had almost killed three people due to like, I don't know the sexual torture, the surgeries.

1:04:26 Basically, it came out that three people that had interacted with Marius and gone through [ __ ] with him had been so close to death. It was also revealed through witness testimony that Marius had even cooked and eaten some of the body parts that they had severed. Cannibalism was involved. Now, so even with a guilty plea, he was looking at a lot of time in prison. In fact, life in prison with a minimum of 22 years. That's what he was handed. while the rest of his butchery gang were given sentences between two and 12 years. So there was some quite hefty sentences being handed out. But even though all of these men were now behind bars and no longer free to butcher people, they'd started a wave.

1:05:09 They'd kicked something off. Their online friends began filling the shoes of Marius and the rest. And many copycat cases ensued. Jeffrey Balcom was a 79year-old vicer. a vicar who was caught just this year in 2025 and sent to prison for cutting off another man's peen with nail scissors. Surely not. Like surely you can't get the whole thing off with nail scissors. Maybe he like partially dismembered him and dismembered is such a crazy word to use during this case by the way. That is my bad. But anyway, Jeffree was sent to prison not only for this but also for possession of indecent images of children. It is really disturbing how much of an overlap overlap there is between this like fetish world and the surgery world and literal kids. A lot of the same people are into the same [ __ ] There was another copycat case as well this this year as well. Oh my god, it's scary. It's like ramping up. Neil Hopper

1:06:06 was his name. He was a 49year-old vascular surgeon for the NHS in Cornwall. He was based in Cornwall. He was a literal surgeon. a surgeon that normal families, normal people trust with their lives. But then he went on to do all this [ __ ] Both of these men Jeffrey and Neil, had been in touch with Marius while he was free, by the way. They'd met on the forums. They'd chatted before. I mean, Marius was something of a celeb on there, like I told you. And this guy, Neil, the surgeon, bought so many of his videos. And in fact, Neil was even more of a copycat than Jeffrey because Neil, the NHS surgeon, had also frozen off his own leg in the exact same way that Marius did. But unlike Marius who had only done one Yeah. Neil did both. And the weirdest part of it was that it like obviously he is literally a vascular surgeon himself.

1:06:59 He had carried out hundreds of amputation surgeries in his career. And now he was making himself the patient. But also there's now the question of like he had carried out all these hundreds of amputations. What if not every single one of his patients really truly needed those amputations? What if he was just getting excited? Like if it's a fetish thing for him, then it's scary to think that he could have encouraged an amputation where there were other options available, but he just wanted to, you know, carry out an amputation for his own gratification.

1:07:34 Neil Hopper was jailed for two years and eight months. And you know, it's scary to think that these few people that we've spoken about in today's episode are probably only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to making money through the illegal removal and sale of human limbs and body parts. But as for everything else, that's kind of where today's case ends. The victims of Mario Gustavson have all chosen to stay anonymous with the vast majority just not wanting to talk about it at all which I understand. It's believed that there were at least 29 victims of the Unic Maker, if not even more. And the Marius actually claims to be in possession of over 500 castration operation videos from around the world which means there are many more Mariuses out there operating on people probably right now.
