Hey football guy and yeah. Yeah my take. Welcome to part of my take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Friday, November 14th, and Hank, the New England Patriots have now won eight in a row, and they beat the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. Also, for anyone who is going to be listening to the whole show, which I hope everyone is when we get to the Firefest and uh we talk about game time. You might want to just go back and listen to the game time ad at the beginning of the show. And
some were saying Wally Pip. Some incredible foreshadowing took place because we recorded
some were saying Plasco Burus with we recorded the entire back half of the show earlier today and then we're here right now after Thursday Night Football.
I love you, Hank. I love you, too. Okay, this is the success went to his head a little bit off Thursday Night Football.
Okay, so let's talk about the game. Ugly. Ugly wins are still wins. Yeah, Thursday night full rested.
Didn't look that sharp. Drake didn't look that sharp. Playing against a team like the Jets, you don't need to have your A game. It was more like a a B minus B minus C plus game.
Uh, uniforms are sick. I like the uniforms. I like the uniforms a lot. They were sick.
Yeah, the the the what are they? They the rivalry Storm They're the Norers. But the rivalry week uniforms, the Cardinals and the Patriots have the two best of those so far.
Yeah, I like them a lot. Yeah. Uh I was shocked during the game. Um Justin Fields didn't play good. He He's not good.
He He's not He's not. But I didn't I did not realize how many times Justin Fields has fumbled in the last four years.
Was it 46 fumbles? 48. He's I thought not all lost. I thought it was a typo when it was on the screen that he's fumbled the ball 48 times.
Not all lost fumbles. That's still crazy. But it's a lot of fumbles. He liked to fumble. Chicago, he was a fumbler. What do you got? You have the stats in front of you. There we go. Oh, that's a that's that's probably lost fumbles. So 21 he lost,
but he's fumbled. They they showed they flashed the stat 48 times. Wait, that looks weird. That looks like it's only says that he's lost three. Is that true?
It was a gotcha stat. It was a gotcha statine. In in what way though? Like what what are the actual numbers?
I guess that what we're looking at. So they were off by by 26 27. No, it was right. I'm looking at pro pro uh football reference. I think what you were doing was those were his rushing. He's fumbled 21 times rushing the ball. There's been a lot of fumbles in the pocket. So those are technically not rushes. On Pro Football Reference, he has fumbled 47 times. He's lost 14 of them or 48 times now. Lost 15 of them.
Yeah, he fumbles. He's uh hands That was a bad snap though. hands are nine and an eighth inches.
Yeah, it was a bad snap. Not not the biggest hands. The the famous um I do remember the game that Justin Fields played against the Bucks, I want to say, where it was like really bad and over was like uhoh. I think he had three fumbles in that game. So, yeah, he fumbles.
Yeah. Memes, what did you think? How did what were your expectations going into this game? And then what was uh what was your outlook after the game was over?
Uh my hope was to compete. They did compete. Good start. It was a great start. They're playing man football right away. The
And then they just couldn't catch the ball. Yeah. Couldn't catch the ball. There was a dot to Ad Mitchell. Ad Mitchell had three bad drops.
But I think I think he'll be good going forward, but I they didn't embarrass themselves to that loss fumble. So,
yeah. No, I actually agree with that. It was a what? It was a a 10-point game, you know, with them having the ball with eight minutes left and then the fumble happened and it was like
Yeah. I know. And then you see on the fumble happened, they're like, "How do you watch Jets football?" Like people just wait for that to happen. But you could tell that Aaron Glenn is coaching the guys up.
They were competitive tonight. They were able to do some stuff. The play calling was questionable, but the Patriots are a good team. The Jets just don't have the facilities to match up with them right now, and they still matched up with them. When you say facilities, like talking about like tubs,
no players. Oh, like equipment. You don't have the facilities for that big man.
It was a meme. Oh, okay. Sorry. Up. That's on me. Uh 67. I thought Trayvon Henderson looked pretty good tonight, though.
Trevan did look good. I I told you I told you he was going to be good. You guys You guys poo pooed me at the start of the season.
He wasn't blocking, but clearly they I mean they believed in him. Uh it was weird. Obviously when they lost to the Steelers or Andre Stevens had fumbled seven times and they stuck with him. It was like something must be wrong with Trayvon but
they figured it out and now he's playing great. He had the correct size font on the back of his jersey.
Yeah, they gave him they gave him good lettering. Yeah. And then Stefon Diggs I thought looked really good tonight.
Yeah. So overall chatted up that cheerleader. Overall, you just you just chop it up to Thursday night uh sluggishness
and and you you take the win and you move on. There you go. Yeah, that's fair. And memes are you are you I mean you you competed. You're not mad at Hank.
We competed. I I think they just need a quarterback. People were saying, people were tweeting at me. They were like, "What about the drops? What about this?" It was just like, "There's certain things correct that he does that you a a good competent quarterback fixes." Like they're driving down the field, four minutes left. They're not getting on the ball. They're not getting guys where they need to be. You need a competent quarterback gets you in the end zone in under a minute there.
Correct. I mean, if if you were to make like a a blame pie and you were to divvy up, what are the biggest pieces for the blame? Like, is it mostly quarterback, coaching, facilities, the media? How do we assign blame?
Well, to owner one, biggest piece. Who's on the Epstein emails today? Uh, just want to throw that out there.
Wait, question. Yes. Was he on a list or did somebody write his name in an email?
Wrote his name in an email. Okay. All right. Okay. I'm hoping that ends up on a list.
We don't want to get sued. Yeah. Allegedly. But it was in an email. It was in an email.
But I go I'd go owner first. Yep. You just have to give it to the quarterback second.
Mhm. And then former GMs. Former GM Joe Douglas and Robert Salah. But no, no. I
You can't blame Bob got a raw deal. He got fired in five games. Yeah. Yeah. It was uh Did you see the news today about Woody Johnson? The the team report cards. Yeah that
the NFL has filed a grievance with the NFLPA uh asking them to stop doing the team report cards at the end of every season and uh the push was instigated allegedly by Woody Johnson because he called them totally bogus.
Ah, and now it has nothing to do with the fact that he received bad grades. Spend the money on the facilities.
So apparently they took the the feedback that the players on the Jets gave him last year and he actually went the other way. Like they complained about the food.
Oh. And so then they made their food worse. It's like punishment. Yeah. Punishment for for giving him a bad grade. Yeah.
Snitches get stitches. Yeah. What do you think about that, memes? Uh I he called it bogus, but his major complaint was just that the culture around the the facility. It just it doesn't seem like they're trying to win.
Yeah. Yeah. The Soilent Green factory owner says health inspectors are bogus. Yeah.
One of those situations. Yeah. I mean, the Jets facilities are nice. Yeah. But the whole like they're not trying to win that that's backed up by I mean Woody Johnson said it himself. I'm not a good owner.
He's just an empath. Yeah. No, he [ __ ] sucks. He was on He was on his phone in the owner's box reading Twitter.
There are are there are people defending Justin Fields in your uh I saw a couple like people were dropping past.
Listen, I like Justin Fields as a person. I hope he's a backup for a long time and gets paid. But yeah, until you you have him on your team, you can't fully in theory he's uh got everything, but then you watch him and you're like, "Okay, there's something. It's just it's just not there the way it needs to be for a starter in the NFL."
Yeah. But at least on the Bears, he had some games of promise. Yeah. But what you're describing,
but what you're what you're describing though, the end of game situation where it's like we got no shot, you know? It's it just oh we have to pass. Oh, this isn't going to work. It just falls apart.
That's a problem. But he has made a lot of money, so I'm happy for him there. And he was an incredible quarterback at Ohio State and a great dude.
I think Josh McDaniels, he needs more respect. I've been saying that he's he is a great offensive coordinator. And we definitely we whiffed on Wednesday's show when we're talking about retread head coaches, when we're talking about Dable getting another shot somewhere. McDaniels is he is that guy that got the second shot. He's gonna get another shot.
Yeah, it didn't go well. He He's He's in the playoffs. None of the shots have gone well.
He's gonna get I don't think he wants another shot. You don't think so? I think he should I I I agree with Hank. I feel like he's in that cuz
he's in the perfect spot. He He shouldn't want another shot, but I get I feel like in 5 years, I would not be surprised if he was a head coach for like another year or two.
Did you see the Giants uh like the list that's been floating around? Steve Spagnul is on there. It's like why would he want why would he want to coach again? head coach again. Yeah, just make millions of dollars being the coordinator and being really good at your job.
I agree. And you don't need to be a head coach again. I agree. That's it's perfectly fine.
The best the best business choice Jim Ersi ever made was taking a huge [ __ ] at Josh McDaniel's house.
Yeah, that's facts. Yep. Uh, by the way, I have an update before we get to the week 11 picks and preview. I have an update. This is going to set very out of order here, but when we do get to Jerry Oonnell's fantasy minute, fantasy [ __ ] boys. He sent me an update correction that he wants. He said, "You may want to read this fresh after you watch no spoilers correction below."
Kind of feels illegal like he's going over his time limit, but that's Yeah. No, we don't. This doesn't get
Yeah, it's a correction, but we have to cut it. We're not Well, I can say it. You can say it.
All right. I'll say I'll just say some words right now. whether they have to do anything with Jerry's fantasy minute or not.
Okay. What? Just get back to the show. All right. I'll get back to the show. Big, don't you have an ad read to do right now?
I said Baltimore. I meant week seven Pittsburgh shootout with Aaron Rogers. Flaco putting up big numbers this weekend. Stream him. I get flustered doing this in less than a minute. [ __ ] you big cat. Call 1800 gambler. Okay,
that could have been anyone. That see that seems that seems illegal. That seems over the minute. I may have to bleep that entire
Well, we were confused at the end of it. We're like, what is he talking about? Very confused. That quote could have been from anyone. No, but but we know where it was from.
Uh, last thing, actual last thing, memes, go watch the internet Invitational finale. It was incredible. I guess no spoilers because we don't want to. It was streamed live. There's 200,000 plus people watching it.
It was insane. Can we do spoilers? Should we talk about a Monday? Yeah, we'll do spoilers Monday, but please go watch it. It was incredible.
It had a little bit of everything in it. Yeah, the whole series was insane. had controversy in the finals, a couple controversy. Had some great golf, some bad golf, and then there's some very, very emotional parts.
Yeah. So, we will talk about it. We could we could talk about it with spoilers on Monday, so go watch it. It's uh there's six episodes. The Bob Does guys, the foreplay guys, incredible collaboration. It I think it's going to be something that's so huge going forward. They're just it was so so fun to be a small small part of it. And uh oh, we can tell this one story about it because we we knew that you got eliminated after Yep. the
uh PFD and I went and played the worst round of golf all time with Gruden and Dave.
Um after the day he got after he got eliminated, we played a round of golf where it was me and PFT versus Dave Portoy and John Gruden. And uh we played So
we're doing a scramble. We were doing a scramble and we played I think 10 holes because we had to go to the actual internet invitation. We played 10 holes.
I think we got to the green three times total. There was I think three or four times that that holes were conceded out of the tea box.
And I woke up that morning after playing nine holes in nade shot where I felt like I was the most dialed I had ever been in my entire life at golf. And I told Coach Gruden, I was like, "Hey, just so you know, I think I figured out golf. I think I'm just good at golf now." And then proceeded to lose my first T-OT. Uh, we took like six shots to get on to the first green. Yeah.
And then on the second hole, me and Big Cat both lost multiple T- shots. And so we conceded off the second T- box.
I I I'm pretty sure I puted twice in 10 holes. And And I just remember walking off cuz Gruden was going to continue playing. I was like, "So much fun playing with you, coach." He was just like, "Yeah, great time." Yeah. He was like, "Yeah."
I ended up playing with him on the back nine, too. And uh we got some quality time. We ended up linking up with the Spitting Chicklets guys and joining them on the back nine. And that was it was just awesome to be listening to those guys going back and forth. The best.
It felt like I was I was on my own personal podcast for me. Uh okay. Tough old man.
Tough old man. Tough man. Tough old man. Let's get to ourselves. Week 11 picks and preview and Joel CL.
I have one more thing. Okay. One more thing. memes if that's okay. Uh, so I did compete in the Internet Invitational this year. Uh, did not go the way that I wanted. I want to say that if I'm lucky enough to be invited back next year,
Yeah. I'd like to give my spot to left-handed Hank. Oo, wow. No. Okay. Whoa. Has to be left-handed.
Yeah, I'd like to give my spot to left-handed Hank. What if right-handed Hank wants to join?
Left-handed Hank gets my spot. Okay. And I just want to say right now, I'm not good enough at golf, but I'm planning on getting good at golf this winter. And if I get invited, I would like to give my spot to right-handed Hank.
Wow. Thanks, guys. Can you Can you compete? Do a scramble. You should. That would be a good video. Left-handed, right-handed scramble.
Oh, versus me and PFT. We got a lot of work to do. That would be awesome. That will be our first golf video in the spring.
I like that. You got this. Got I got to I got to work. I got to get to work. Got to get to work. Okay, let's kick it to ourselves for week 11 picks and preview. This episode is brought to you by Uber Eats, reminding fans that if football coincidentally makes you hungry, you can get game day deals on wings, burgers, beers, chips, and more all season long. All on Uber Eats. What are we thinking Sunday, boys? We haven't done Feel like we haven't done Chinese in a while.
We were supposed to do that last week, right? I feel like we haven't done Chinese in a while. No, Hank,
I'm down. Okay, you give me a look. What? What else? We we we've we've kind of we've hit them all, but Uber Eats has endless. So,
what about wings? Oh, yeah. We haven't done wings except for every other day. What about pasta?
I've eaten wings like three times a week every single week. Pasta. Some Sunday pasta.
Oh, I wouldn't hate some pasta. Meatballs. Meatballs. Maybe Max makes some meatballs.
I could do that. Okay. When football makes you hungry, get game day deals all season long. Only on Uber Eats. Okay, boys. Week 11. We are here. This is rivalry week. Rivalry week.
It's uh separation Sunday. It is separation. It's ri I think nine out of 15 games are divisional games.
Yeah. And some some games that like if you lose some true must must wins for a lot of teams out there. A lot of good teams too.
Yes. Some big time uh playoff implications. as we're getting into that part of the season where if you lose, you're in big trouble. If you win, you're looking pretty. But let's start with our overseas game. Last one of the year. Cherish it, boys. I think I I saw a stat that uh the Colts Falcons was a top five international game in terms of ratings. So, it's working. Hank, you're it's it's the plan is working. But we have Commanders at Dolphins.
Dolphins are minus two and a half. Over under is 47 and a half. This is the first regular season game played in Spain. There was a preseason game in 1993. The Steelers and the 49ers played in 1993.
What song are they going to go nuts for over in Spain? I don't know. That that we're going to get caught off guard by
that we're be like, "Holy [ __ ] everyone knows this song." Yeah. Lvita Loca. I don't know. Um
I have a question for you to start. Are you The Commanders have not been good. The season is is bad. The season's over. Uh, but the good news is Jaden Daniels, well, not good news, but Jay, it would be one thing if the season was bad and Jane Daniels was playing all season. Yes, he's not playing. You can be like, hey, look, we don't have our quarterback. What do you expect? Are you happy this game is early to get it out of the way or are you like, uh, this is a standalone game. People are going to see how bad we are.
No, I I'm actually okay with it being early because this might surprise you. The Commanders have been terrible in the last month. Like, no sugar coating it. I'd put them right up there. I think they might be one of the worst teams in football. And you can look at injuries, and I know injuries aren't an excuse, but they are,
you know, like I actually do think that injuries are a valid excuse if your if your team's bad.
And if you look at our offense, Jaden, like our projected starting offense, Jaden, Austin Eckler, Terry McLuren, um, uh, we've got Cosmi just came back. All those guys, I don't think that the group of those guys ever played a single snap together this entire season. Um, and they've been bad. They're very bad. The defense is atrocious. But surprisingly, I actually like the Commanders this weekend.
Oh. Cuz we've got Dan Quinn taking over defensive play calling. Okay. And I was finding myself earlier this week, I was driving to work and I I was just, you know, being mad about my football team.
And I was putting a lot of blame on Joe Wit, the defensive coordinator, who does deserve a lot of blame, I think, for it. But also, I thought like what if what if we had the best defensive coordinator in football?
Mhm. with the ingredients that he has right now, probably still would be a terrible defense. So then you start thinking about the draft picks that you've made, the the signings and free agency that you've done, and now I'm like I'm kind of split. I'm like, yeah, Adam Peters hasn't done a great job outside of drafting Jaden Daniels,
right? Um so there's a lot of blame to go around, but in this instance, Dan Quinn taking over defensive play calling. I don't think that he's going to be a difference maker enough to make the defense good, but I don't think they're going to be historically bad like they've been in the past month. And also, I saw a drill that they were running this morning over in Spain. Can we pull it up? I just tweeted about it. Um,
what's that, Hank? This doesn't look real. Yeah, it doesn't look real. This looks like JV, like high school, freshman.
So, I watched you got to go back to basics. This is freshman and high school stuff.
I watched it and I actually got excited. I'll tell you why, but watch this drill. Okay, they're just running. Oh,
the entire mass. Offense verse, defense. So, they're just going back and forth. They They appear to be hustling like they're going hard at this weird drill.
Are they jumping or not jumping? I think they're just stepping over those tiny little pylons. And then afterwards, the boys are celebrating. Like they they took that drill seriously.
The offense won. The offense won. And I I watched this probably five times trying to figure out what the [ __ ] was happening and why we're running this. It it looks like if you're an injured team, this is the last drill that you should be running.
If the Commanders win this game, I think we have to run this drill on Sunday. Yeah, I think we do. But my thought was Dan Quinn is now coaching this team as interim Dan Quinn. This is the most interim head coaches ass drill I've ever seen in my entire life.
He probably buried a football afterwards. He probably had had a funeral for the game tape. And uh for some reason I just feel like Dan Quinn is going to energize the defense enough where maybe they won't be historically bad
this weekend. Um and also if you have an embarrassing performance overseas, that's when a coach can get fired.
Yeah. Well, so I don't think there'll be an embarrassing performance. Did you see uh Mike McDaniel actually had a press conference where I didn't realize this, but he said that Dan Quinn was a big piece of the reason he got sober and was a big support person when he got sober when he was coaching when he was on Dan Quinn's staff in Atlanta. There's clearly some love and mutual respect between the two guys that makes me believe that even if the Dolphins had the chance to embarrass, they wouldn't embarrass.
Yeah. I So I [clears throat] do the Pro Football Show. Uh it it comes out on Thursday nights. It's with Gruden and Smoot. We pick every game. Gruden pointed out something that I I wanted to to share with you guys. Just throwing it out there. It's an interesting little thought starter. So, credit to John Gruden. We love him. The Dolphins, if the Dolphins win this game, the Dolphins have the Commanders, the Saints, the Jets, the Steelers, and the Bengals. Their next five. Could the Dolphins get back into it? I think that they could get back into another season of Mike McDaniel.
I like could there be a world where we're sitting here if they win this game where there are they are six and seven going up against the Steelers on a Monday night football game in mid December. 67. My kids are It's too much 67. I still don't understand what it means. Can someone tell me what it means?
Doesn't mean anything. That's the part that drives me nuts. It's just fun to do and say. Yeah. It's just it's brain rot just everywhere.
Yeah, it's it's uh it's crazy either way. All right, spread everywhere. It's a 67. Um yeah, could the Dolphins get back in this thing?
Probably not. They're not going to get back in it, but I do think that it's a possibility that they play well enough where Mike McDaniel is the coach going in next year.
Yeah, which actually I don't know if that would be good or bad for the Dolphins. I think most offense fans would say bad, but I I heard the same thing about McDaniel and Dan Quinn and Dan Quinn talked about it too and took on the mindset of like I'm, you know, I'm proud. I'm proud of what he accomplished and to do it publicly and to take all those steps. It does seem like there's a lot of love between the two guys.
Um maybe there's like a uh it's like he's his sponsor. Yeah. And does Mike McDaniel really want to beat his sponsor?
Yeah. I This would be a very counterproductive loss for the Commanders. Yep. And I in theory I want them to lose this game.
Counterproductive. Sorry. Counterproductive win. You're right. You're right. In theory I it would be best for the future of the franchise if they lost this game. There was a game back in 2023 against the Jets that Ron Rivera I don't think he said a word for the entire game. He just stood on the sidelines with his arms arms crossed and [snorts] the Jets won on a field goal like a long field goal at the end of that game which made the difference in the commanders moving up to the second overall pick. You have to, if you're a realistic NFL fan, you have to think about those things. But once the whistle blows, I'm going to be rooting for the Commanders. And I actually do right now. I think that they have a very good chance of winning this game. I think that the defense could be a lot better. I think they could confuse to a little bit. And um it does suck that Don Payne's not playing. I guess
you can't guys can't be savages anymore. We can't we can't we can't punch our opponents in the neck anymore.
It's [ __ ] It is [ __ ] I like how he appealed it and it was the shortest appeal of all time. They're like, "Wait, you so you you did punch him in the neck?" Yes. But he also kind of punched me first.
Okay. Yeah. You're still suspicious. It was It was my internet invitational appeals.
Yes. It was just instant. It was a no. Devon Achain, by the way, we should shout him out. He is second in the NFL in rush yards after contact with 634. Only second to Jonathan Taylor. He's having an awesome year. He's still very, very fast. The Tua is 0 and2 in international games. The Commanders as a franchise have only played one international game. It was a tie.
Yeah. So, is it Bengals? Tie. Yeah. Bengals. Yeah. 2016. I'm I actually am kind of excited to watch this game because it's like Hey, it's the last one.
It's also a new stadium. Yeah. We haven't seen this one. Is that It's right next to Leantra. Hank,
do you know what that is? Nope. So, you're not reading Don Kyote. I got it. You did get it.
It came yesterday. Well, Lanchantra was in the page that you read. I don't know Lancha to say that. The musical was called The Man of Lancha.
Cool. Maybe you should just watch the musical. No, I'm going to read the book. He's going to read the book. Okay, let's go to the regular slate. Panthers at Falcons. Panthers are back to underdogs. That's why I like the Panthers.
It's crazy that you can beat a team 30 to nothing and then you play them again in the regular season and you're underdogs. Yeah,
that's the NFL. That's the NFL, baby. We love the sport. That's the NFL. Drake London, he missed practice. He was sick.
That's a big deal. I'm I'm guessing he'll probably be healthy by Sunday. Yep. Uh but it does give me a little bit of pause to bet on the Falcons this weekend.
We also had the very weird quote from Michael Penn saying they asked him who he uses on the sideline to uh be a mentor or help him out. He said no one.
Said he's got his fiance and his high school coach. Yeah, that was kind of weird. It is kind of strange.
Yeah. Maybe maybe a coaching change if the Falcons keep spiraling. Any names you throw out there?
I mean, there's I think there's a lot of prominent college head coaches that would probably be very interested. And you look at like a quarter, it seems like they might have a quarterback you could work with.
Um, you look at positions like running back, maybe a guy from a school that has a history of having dominant running backs.
I I could see a college head coach going to the Falcons. Yeah. Okay. Like I mean like
you'd have to get SEC, right? Like SEC translates. You probably have to get in the state.
Oh, in I don't that's so crazy. It might just work. Okay. Just that would be that would be a shocker.
It would be a shocker. Georgia Tech coach. Yeah. That's not SEC. Oh, true. Yeah.
Mhm. But that's also a great option. That is a great option. Or any other college in the state of Georgia.
Yeah. I'm struggling to think of any other Georgia universities. I'm not really excited to watch this game, but it's gonna happen.
That's DC. I think I'm done with what? Who? Hanks. Hanks naming H.B.CU's. Okay.
Trying to find one that's in Georgia. I think I'm I'm I'm good with uh Bryce Young. It was fun. Fun. The end of last year. I think I'm good.
It was You know what? It was fun that we had a couple weeks where we got to just throw out that red meat and say Hank is cool.
Did the Panthers make the right pick in the draft instead of CJ Strad? It was fun to at least say that.
Yeah, he's uh Bryce Young, and this isn't the end all be all of stats, but it's still a shocking one. Nine out of 10 games this year, he's under 200 yards passing.
Did he actually didn't start all So, it would be seven. I think he's I don't think he's broken 100 yards.
No, 200 yards. 200 yard. I don't think he's broken 200 yards. Let's see. I thought he did one game. Let me see.
Cuz in the 30 nothing game against the Falcons, he had 121. He did against the Cardinals. He had 328.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 N eight out of nine, excuse me, because Andy Dalton started a game. Eight out of nine games is not broken 200 yards passing.
So that was like a crazy like second half of the third quarter and fourth quarter against the Cardinals.
Yeah, he did have 198 and 199. Yeah, but it's not 200. But if you watch the throws that he made, especially last week, he is throwing for like they're going two yards in the air, three yards in the air, they don't it's very clear they don't really trust Bryce.
No, it is uh it's it's a tough watch, but you can just run the ball. Yeah. Like if you're if you just hand the ball to Rico D, good things will happen.
I I like the Panthers, but I also feel like Michael Pennock is going to have a good game eventually. Like he had a good game, what was it, against the Bills, and then he's had some tough games. He's He's gonna have a good game.
Yeah, I I'm not out on Michael Penn. No, I'm not either. I'm not on Bryce Young.
Yeah. Okay. Big game. Big big game. Bucks at Bills. Bills minus 5 a half. Over under 48 and a half. Two teams that are kind of I I you say struggling.
It's flailing a little bit. Yeah, a little flail. There's a bunch of good games this weekend. I was trying to think of which one was the crown jewel.
You have to have crown jewel, but that I think that's later. I think the crown jewel is Sunday Night Football, but yes.
Yeah. Well, that's a good The Rams and Seahawks also. There's a lot of crown jewels this weekend.
Broncos Chiefs also crown jewel. Yeah, there's there's too many jewels. How are we feeling overall, Zack?
Little slumpish mid-season, but I mean, if we can go out and perform against the Bills, I I feel good.
Mhm. This does feel like whoever wins, whoever loses this game, it's going to be panic button time. Is that fair?
I think Bills fans are already they they gently pushed the panic button. They did like Siri, press the pan. They haven't pushed it themselves yet, but they asked like their Alexa robot like just push it for me. Make sure it still works. Th
Yeah, this game specifically is very big in in terms of the Bills season because last week, as bad as it was, and I think it was the third loss, third worst loss in the Josh Allen era. Um, as bad as it was, you can kind of convince yourself, well, there was a little hangover from beating the Chiefs. You circle the Chiefs all year, that's always a big game. Then they go down, play a divisional game. Weird [ __ ] happens in Miami. If they can write the ship this week, you feel a lot more confident that things are still okay. If you lose this week, you're like, "Oh, Jesus, what is going on?"
I think it could be like the opposite of what the Bills fans have dealt with in the past where they maybe they go in the playoffs this year, not even as division champions.
Not a lot of expectation on them. True. And they've beaten good teams. They've obviously they've lost to a couple bad teams too,
but like in the past you could say about the Bills that they got fat and happy on a on a weak schedule or like beaten up on the bad ones and then struggled at times against some good teams. It might be a different story this year. That's like the one spin zone you can give yourself.
Uh, Zach, I got a trivia question for you. Yes, sir. How many times have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won in Buffalo in the history of the franchise?
History of the franchise. We've won in Buffalo twice. Zero times. Oh, that's tough.
Yeah. Never been done. But do you want to you want a follow-up question for the Bucks at Buffalo?
I'll do backto-back trivia. Okay. How many times have the Bucks played at Buffalo and had the longest play in NFL history?
Once. Yep. That's facts. They did have the longest play in NFL history in 2017 with the Bucks playing in Buffalo 44 seconds. It was an end of game laterals that just kept on going and going and going and going and going.
Yeah, I love that. They've also they've only played in Buffalo three times. So onethird of the time they have the longest play in NFL history.
That's true. Wow. Strong percentages. High ratio. So there's there's a decent chance that there will be the longest play in NFL history happen in this game. Baker just scrambling around running over guys like dodging tacklers.
I'm happy that Baker and Josh, who both of our are our guys, we love them both, are doing the the the nicest trash talk possible back and forth. Baker said, "I have to walkie-talkie to him because he's so damn tall. With Buffalo, it's cold, it's rainy. Even though he's 6'10, his hands are small, so he better wear his gloves." And then Josh said, "Baker is a two gloves type of guy on the golf course." So that says everything you need to know about him. Just some fun banter.
Is that true though? I I don't know if he is. Hank is a one glove guy on the golf course like Michael Jackson. Sometimes you put on the wrong hand though.
I don't think that's true. Do you don't think he's a two gloves guy? No, I think that's just a little
banter. What does that mean if you call somebody a two gloves guy on the golf course?
Yeah. What is that? What is that in implying? I'm looking at pictures. I'm seeing only one glove on his hands while golfing. But it's a good burn cuz you don't want that to stick. You don't want to be scared.
It's like putting having like iron covers, head covers for your irons. Is that bad?
Yeah. Oh, why? It just means you're like scared. Soft. It's like offensive lineman wearing sleeves.
Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. Your golf club should be out in the elements. And also, my that glove was actually on the right hand. I just didn't realize it.
Oh, yeah. Because now you're left-handed golfer. Your body was trying to tell you, and you just had to listen. Yeah. Uh this is going to be a weather play for me. I'm I'm making my play on this game strictly based on the weather forecast.
Okay. I think it's me. It's going to be in the 30s, maybe around 40. Uh a little drizzly.
The Bucks can't win that game. It's too cold. I agree with that. It's too cold. I agree with that. I agree with that. All right. So, we're going to go weather play.
I'm going to go weather play on this game. But, uh both teams, yeah, I think is there a possibility that you can lose this game and walk away being like optimistic about the rest of your year? Like if the Bucks lose by three points, it's 35 to 32. Can the Bucks like walk away and still be I think that they can because of the division that they play in.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's the thing is the Bucks are going to be fine because they're going to most likely win their division, but this does it it's flailing. It's a little slump. Little slump. This is who who can get the slump buster.
I also I also this is one of my Hank, you tell me. Do you do we have any hungry dogs this week you like? Is this one of them?
Mhm. Oh, it is. Because I saw this line and I was like, well, the Bucks are really good. The Bills are good, but they've been struggling. Five and a half is way too many points. Hammer the box. I'm like, no, no, no, no. That's what they want you to think.
Mhm. Rat. Take the favorite. Smell a rat. Yeah. Smell a rat. Smell a rat. It's hungry and Henry, so it's kind of a little bit
It's the hen dog. It's a little bit cloudy. Six right now. Six. Yeah. On the drafting sports book.
You got a lot of exposure to this game, Hank. It's in both parlays. That is a lot of exposure. Be careful. Don't expose yourself.
Diversify. Oh, we are getting the white-on-white 1965 throwbacks for the Bills now. Wait, does this also mean we're getting the red helmets?
Can we see it? Yeah, let's check out the helmets. Oh, this is big. I don't really like the white the red helmets. I'm going to say it.
I kind of do. Okay, let's let's let's find it. I'm going to go to the you can go to the grid iron database, Max. It's actually an awesome website. You can just look at uniforms for each week.
This guy says it. This is the M. This is the It's white. It's white helmets with the red buffalo. I'm looking at it right now.
Okay. The Uni Watch. We never We didn't shut him out, but there was a Uni Watch account
that retired on Halloween. He Why did he retire on Halloween? I don't know. He just retired.
He announced his retirement. Yeah. I love that. 1999 and 2025. What a Wait, can I see Can I see his retirement? I love when random dudes on the internet retire. It's such a great
What is it? Uni Watch. He They took down his account. Oh, he Oh, no. He really retired. Oh, I Oh, yeah. I know. Uni Watch. Paul, right? Yeah.
Paul Lucas. Yeah. Oh, [ __ ] He retired. Why did he retire? That's crazy. I think he like wrote a book.
My passion for this passion project just isn't what it used to be. No [ __ ] There's too many uniforms. I feel like you should you should maybe you just thought that all the new combos were like Mickey Mouse.
That's crazy that he just shut it all down. Oh, hello. Paul here with some unfortunate news. Due to a perfect storm of negative developments, I've reluctantly come to the unfortunate conclusion that continue to publish Uni Watch is no longer viable. This will be the site's final post. Yes, I'm serious and know this isn't a Halloween Halloween related prank. Are there those type of pranks?
Yeah. Trick or treat. Yeah, Uni Watch is shutting down for real. I realize this news probably should come as a shock and that you no doubt have lots of questions. So, let's shift into Q&A mode. When did you make a decision to do this? Yesterday, although I've been thinking about it for a while. Whoa. What's this perfect storm? Over the past year, UniWatch has been hit by a number of difficult circumstances. Sites revenue has been cut roughly in half since May. Uh ad slump web developer my partner. Damn. Okay. One of his partners is dealing with an illness.
That's really sad. He doesn't have the the shops technically. Uh man. Rip Uni Watch.
Yeah. Great website. Okay. What a run. And he shut down the Twitter. Uh sad stuff.
All right. Well, sad stuff. But yeah, the uh Bills are going to wear the the whites with um the red buffalo. The only logo in sports that has a penis.
Yes. Well, the fake Clark the Cub. Yeah. When he was pantsless when he style. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Next up, we have the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans. Don't
No. Yeah. Gross. [snorts] Gross. Uhuh. Texas. Davis Mills, by the way. I believe Davis Mills Davis is going to be starting. Uh I still like the Texans.
Tennessee has gone 14 consecutive games scoring fewer TDs than their opponent dating back to the middle of last season. That is the longest streak for any team since 197677 Bucks who did it in 18 straight games. That's pretty impressive.
That is. Yeah. So they the the other long streaks were the Chicago Cardinals in 1942 to 1945, the Bucks in the 67-67. The Dayton triangles 1927 to 29. They struggled to score.
This is a Dayton triangles. Who could forget? What's the overunder on this game?
It is. Hold on. I'll tell you. I have it written down. 37 and A2. 37 and a half.
They love They love putting that 37 and a half out there. That's the number. Under. seen a lot of 37 and a halfs.
This is good for you if you watch this game. Yeah, we'll have this game on. That's about it.
Yeah. Any any other any side tangents we want to take for this? Uh we could talk about the Titans trying to steal the throwback uniforms, although I don't think they're wearing those this weekend.
Yep. That's really the only intriguing part of this matchup. A uniform matchup that isn't happening.
That isn't happening. Yeah, that's that's a good a uniform matchup that that could happen.
Yeah. What about uh Hank? Do we have any update on the lefty golfing? No. [clears throat]
Okay. All right. So, that's I've been sick. Okay. Yeah. Tell us about your illness. What did you do yesterday?
Slept all day. Pretty Yeah, I slept pretty much all day. Went to sleep at 8:00.
Do you feel better? I feel better. Okay. I hydrated a lot. Took a lot of vitamins.
Good. Vitamin C. Good. But yeah, I think I'm going to do Leftcember. Le what? Leftcember. leftber.
We're not left Vimber because Fember's pretty much over. It's not not even halfway.
We have more Vember left than we've done. It's the 13th right now, but we got I'm doing leftcember. Thanks. You guys want to update? That's the update.
Thanks. All right. Levember. No, Leftmber. Leftcember. Only swinging lefty. So, you can't you can't swing lefty inve.
No, you can't. I can do whatever I want. No, you can't. I I can and I will. No.
And then left. Leftmber. No, don't get leftvember going. Go rightvember. I'm doing leftcember.
It sounds like you're doing leftvember, but you have Thanksgiving, so you're not fully committed to it until December.
Correct. What about But you're going to still leftve member. I'm going to do some leftvember.
It's going to be both Feber. I have I have a friend does a like a annual outing the day before Thanksgiving.
What about Left January? We'll see. We'll see how Left Ember goes. Left. It's gonna be leftcember and then we're gonna we're gonna see if it's worth continuing or not.
Is it going to be a leftce to remember? We'll see. I don't know. So, absolutely no right hand swinging in the entire month of December. Correct.
What? So, you're playing in a golf outing Thanksgiving, but you're not going to go lefty there. Or you are?
I'm We'll probably be playing righty. Okay. But two of the guys I'm playing it's a scramble. So, it's two of the guys I'm playing with are are lefty. So, I might mix it together. So there might be a little left in there,
but left sember is when it really gets going. And if anyone sees you hitting righty in left sember, they can hit you with their golf cart.
Sure. Okay. I want I'm not going to be on a golf course. I'll get a golf cart. I think if you hit right-handed in in left driving into the simulator out of nowhere,
I think I think we just cut your left hand off. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. We're gonna go uh what's the country? Saudi Arabia. There's also one of the is it Philippines somewhere where if you steal
they do a lot of stuff in the Phil they'll kill you in the Philippines if you screw up singing my way karaoke.
Mhm. Yeah, they will. Bann the forbidden song in the Philippines. Okay, that was good. Texans Titans preview. Next game, Bears at Vikings. Vikings are minus three. Over under is 48 and a half. I'm very nervous for this game. I've we've talked about the Bears a lot. The Bears have to get takeaways to compete. When they are getting takeaways, they look decent. When they are not, they're the 30th in EPA without turnovers. In terms of defensive EPA, they're the 31st in drop back EPA. So, it's turnovers. Got to get turnovers.
Yeah. It's a matchup of uh Mr. Fourth quarter and also JJ McCarthy. Mhm. Because Caleb Williams is actually the best quarterback in terms of game-winning drives and fourth quarter comebacks all season. He's been phenomenal.
Leads the NFL in game-winning drives and fourth quarter comebacks. This is the big step these next games coming up for the Bears where they've beaten a lot of bad teams and the Vikings, I know, are not they're kind of in the middle of the road, but Caleb has only won one divisional game in his career a year and a half. Obviously, that's not a huge sample size, but you got to start winning the divisional games. You got to start stacking these type of wins. And I've broken up the rest of the Bears season. I'm not doing any more gateways because we completed the gateway. It's this game and the Steelers game. Ha. Must go one and one.
Don't care how it happens. Got to go one and one in the next two. That's good. That's a good way to break it down. Then you put yourself in in the position for the divisional games. Rest of them. Correct.
Did you see the interview with Troy Aman by our good friend Ryan Glaspagel from Front Office Sports?
I did not. So they were talking about, you know, what it's like doing Monday Night Football, backlash from fans. And he said, "In 25 years, there's bound to be times when you say something and you're like, I wish I could take that back." Or, "I wish I could say could have said that a little differently." [snorts] Or in the moment you say something and you're like, "That didn't come quite come out right."
Mhm. That game, talking about the uh Monday Night Football game against the Commanders y
was not one of those. Oh, I walked out of that game. Yeah. Twist. I I walked out of that game feeling like, "Okay, it was
You had us in the first half. It was a game that came down to the wire. It's fun. Whatever." On Tuesday evening, I had dinner. I got home looking at Instagram and Ben Johnson comes up and it's got Troy Aman written on there and I'm like, "What is this?" That's the first time that he heard about it. And so he says that I would challenge anyone to go watch it and tell me that any analysis I gave was unfair. They may disagree if I thought that was maybe not great ball placement and they thought it was okay, but I'm not sure where the backlash came from. So, he's standing behind his uh his Caleb Williams stakes,
which uh I I guess I respect a guy for 10 toes down standing on it. U but yeah, I I thought that he would have kind of backtracked a little bit because the the backlash to what he said. Like I've seen a lot of the clips and he did seem like he was being like Troy was being mean.
Yeah, he was being mean. He's being a big meanie butt. A big meanie butt. Real big meanie butt.
Yeah. Why you so mean, bro? He's a mean guy. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, this game also the the thing that makes me nervous about this game is we talked about it on Monday, but it does not feel like the Vikings path to success is having JJ McCarthy throw it 42 times, which he did against the Ravens. Feels like Kevin O'Connell will figure out, hey, we got to run the ball more. The Bears can't really stop the run. Bears can't really stop anything on defense. And will it look like a lot of runs and controlling the clock and trying to keep the ball out of the Bears offense hands?
Did Ben Johnson have anything to say before the season about a anticipated rivalry against KOC or was that just strictly aimed at Laflur?
Just Laflur. Okay. I'm just excited. This is a uh it's fun to be excited about football on Sundays and the Bears make me excited.
This is We're going to find out. They're there. I I I've said this before, but we have graduated from being a bad team because we beat a lot of bad teams.
Now, can you can you get into that class of good team and it starts with the Vikings and then the Steelers and then I think it's the Packers or Lions or No, the Eagles and the Packers and Lions. So, this is it. Let's find some [ __ ] out.
I think if you went on the road in Minnesota, you would definitely fall into the good team category.
Yeah. Or or inching closer at least. So, I'm excited for this game. Caleb is such a joy to watch. Just figure out a way to get some takeaways, which the Vikings do give up the ball a lot. So, maybe that is the one benefit here going into this game. I think they're second in turnovers in on Yeah, team is uh second most in the NFL with with 16. So, take the ball away. Just [ __ ] take the ball away.
Do you think that the Bears are are exceptionally good at taking the ball away or is it turnover luck?
Because there's different types of turnovers. I I've seen both. I've seen I think it's a combo.
By has made some awesome picks this year. Yes, he does seem like he knows where to be.
By the way, not to to kick a dead horse, but Kevin Byer had a clip. I think it was it looked like it was maybe just a Bears podcast, but he essentially said that last year whenever the Bears would go down, the entire sidelines would just start freaking out and everyone would be running around with their head cut off. And he's like, "This year when we're down, it's just calm." And so basically, EbFloo had no control of anything.
Yeah. which we knew, but he just said it out loud again. Yeah. I mean, we're gonna the Ebberflu stats are going to continue to come out as Ben Johnson continues to be a competent head coach. Like, we're going to unearth some stuff that we didn't even know that Matt Eberlu was bad at.
Yeah. I So, to answer your question, I think it's a combo. I I do think there's definitely some luck involved. Uh, you know, the Jane Daniels fumble, playing Gino Smith and H just playing Gino Smith is lucky.
Yeah. Uh, this season [clears throat] you just get intercept. Yeah. Not Frank. Um, and the but I do think Dennis Allen knows the limitations. Dennis Allen actually should get a lot of credit because he's not been dealt the best hand and he's making the most of it. I think with some of the limitations that this team has defensively, Dennis Allen knows we got to be a little more aggressive trying to take the ball away. So, it's a mix.
Yeah, but it's it's you can never count on turnovers. So, you can't go into a game being like, we're going to get three turnovers. That's what always scares me. Okay, next game. actually probably the the the the crown jewel Packers at Giants. Giants plus seven over under 42 and a half. Jameus Winston time. I am so so happy. PFC and I were on a text exchange with Jamus last night.
Yep. Just congratulating on him him on getting another shot. I figured we should reach out because like Jamus has been he's been a great soldier. He's been an awesome third string quarterback. haven't really heard much from him in the media in terms of like any controversies whatsoever. He has been he's kept his head down
and he's just been lurking. He's everyone knows that he's there. Everyone saw Russell Wilson play. I think that that would it was the very definition of malpractice to not only start Russell Wilson,
but also then to have Russell Wilson as Wilson as the backup quarterback for so many games. Uh that
shout out Mike Kfka by the way, the interim head coach. Mike Kfka was smart enough, Northwestern guy. Uh he was smart enough to be like, "Hey, how do I rejuvenate this team?" Jameus Winston.
That's it. That's it. That's what you need. That is it. I'm pumped to watch him play. Very, very excited. He's He's going to throw the He plays an entertaining brand of football. It stinks that the Giants are are banged up at I would love to see him with Malik Neighbors.
I would love to see him with Malik Neighbors. I'm a little worried for Jamus's Jamus uh success because the Packers are off a loss. You know how scary they are off a loss.
I do. Yeah. So, like the Giants definitely wish that the Packers had beaten the Eagles.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're a scary team off of a loss. Do you think the Packers get This is a Remember when the Bears played the Bengals? I was like, "This is a must look great on offense." I think that's what this is for the Packers. They have to look great on offense cuz the Giants defense is not very good.
And you you got a lot of questions floating around and a lot of hot seat talk and this and that. Jordan Love has to look good in this game.
Yeah. Four game losing streak for the Giants. In that losing streak, they're giving up 32.25 points per game. So, yes, this the offense has to look right. They need to run the ball on first down.
They they've stunk at running the football on first down. Laflur says he has to look inward. So, he's thinking about himself. Uh, that's kind of that's the first stop for a coach being like, I'll take the blame is like, I got to look inward.
And then once you do that, then you say it starts with me and then it starts and ends with me. And then I got to put my hand up and I'm not doing a good enough job. And then that's kind of the end of the road for that.
Yeah. Yeah. Then you just get mad instead afterwards. Yes. But yeah, this is this is the start of the journey for Laflur. People have been talking about him being on the hot. I don't think Matt Laflur is on the hot seat. I don't think that he should be on the hot seat.
I don't think he's I do I wouldn't put him on the hot seat. I do think he's on the hot seat.
You think Packers they expect more? I think Packers fans are getting restless. And Matt Floor even said he was just like, "No one no one is taking it harder than me." And I thought about it. I was like, "I actually don't know if that's true. I bet you there's like a dude sitting right now in Wisconsin who the Packers are his only good positive thing in his life and he's probably taking it harder than Matt Lefor. Not that Matt Lefor is not taking it hard, but I bet you there's at least a few Packers fans that are in fact taking it harder than the head coach of the Packers.
Steve Avery. Yeah, he's Yeah, like you know what I mean? There's definitely some dude who's just like this is the only the only
the only thing I enjoy in life is watching the Packers on Sunday. He's probably taking it harder than Matt Lafur right now.
Yeah. A lot of Packers fans probably fall into that category. Yeah. He said, "I promise that you're not as frustrated as I am. I bet you there's a couple guys out there that are more frustrated."
Yeah. It's not true. Yeah. Not true. Um the Giants, I think that they put their kicker on IR finally,
right? So hopefully they're done for weird kicker injuries this season, but the kicking game for the the Packers isn't exactly great either.
No, it's not. And I the thing is if if the Packers were like leading the NFC right now, that would be the question everybody would be talking about in Green Bay, but they got to fix the small stuff before they fix that.
Justin Tucker. Justin Tucker just eligible recently. Justin Tucker. Justin Tucker.
Justin Tucker. Think about it. By the way, this is so if the Giants beat the Packers at uh if they're if they're plus seven or above, it will be the biggest upset in the first game for an interim head coach since 2011 when the Chiefs actually beat the Packers as 11-point underdogs. And I was looking at that game. I was like, is there any way the Giants can replicate this? I don't think so. Because that was when Todd Haley got fired. And that might be an alltime guy we [ __ ] hate gets fired. Everyone's pumped.
Yeah. Situation. I Yeah, I agree with that. I I think Kfka might be too smart to be an effective interim head coach.
He might It might not be. He He will be I think he'll have success down the line here.
He doesn't get the rah rah. I'm a fat guy running through a wall, right? He he would he would watch an interim head coach take over and be like, "This is uh highly irregular. I'm not sure how this translates to winning."
Yeah. And it seemed like everyone in the Giants like Brian Dable. Yeah. So that you don't get that bump. You don't get like a, hey, we fired Brian Kelly or Todd Haley. Thank god that guy's gone.
Do you think Brian Dable watches this game? H. No, cuz Jackson Dart's not playing.
Yeah, I agree. If Jackson Dart was playing, he probably would watch it. I agree. He's probably down in Alabama already.
He might be down in Alabama. Yeah, he might be. He might. Or maybe back in Buffalo.
Yeah, maybe back in Buffalo. Okay, next game. Bengals Steelers. Steelers are minus 5 and a half. Overunder is 49 12. I think the Steelers are going to win this game.
Okay. And I think they're going to cover the spread. Okay. Do you have a Do you have this as a hungry dog?
I The Bengals So the Bengals defense is so so so so bad. There have been five games this year where a team has given up 500 plus yards of offense. So, the defense has given up 500 plus yards of offense. Three of those five games are from the Bengals. So, the Bengals have more games where there's they've given up 500 plus yards of offense than the entire NFL combined.
That's crazy. It's nuts. So the what's the what's the fix for Aaron Rogers looking old and looking like he doesn't want to play football anymore and the Steelers being stuck in mud? It's the Bengals defense.
Yeah. I mean I I know Tomlin is afraid of Flaco. Yeah. Flaco has historically been the best quarterback against the Steelers over the last 15 I think he's 12 and 13 in his career against the Steelers.
Um which is more than any other starting quarterback since 2008 back when Flacka was drafted. No other quarterback since then has more than seven wins versus Pittsburgh.
Uh so I do understand why he would be a little gunshy around Flaco, but I I do agree. I think that the Bengals defense is just historically atrocious, dog [ __ ] and the Steelers might have gotten maybe they got better on defense. I don't know,
a little bit. So they got Asante Samuel Jr. Yeah. So he's going to be there now. They have I I count four sons on the Steelers. You've got the Haywards,
the Porter, Joey Porter Jr., and Asante Samuel Jr. Yeah. What? Good for them. And what happened to Asante Samuel Jr.? You got a spinal tap.
He had spinal fusion surgery. I actually read that the doctor that did the surgery is the Steelers doctor.
Dr. David Enquo. So that's good. Yep. They got a little synergy there. Some inside information. He was like, I will fix you up correctly because we want you on the Steelers.
The guy Yeah. The guy who did the surgery is not going to say, "I don't think he can play."
Yeah. There's got to be a Steelers doctor out there that if like Lamar came to him in the offseason being like, "Please repair my my sports hernia." Yeah. He would like tie the groin muscle to the kneecap.
Yeah. Must win for the Bengals. I'd say must win for both teams. Double must win because I'm not ready to write the Bengals off entirely.
You said that and I looked at it more and I I agree with you because of the schedule and how that division's shaking out.
If they win this game, they still have two games against the Ravens. So, the Bengals are not out of it. Uh, the Steelers, it does feel like this is the most down-out uh division leading team has been this time of year in a long time.
Yeah. Like everyone's writing them off and being like they're not going to win that division.
Yeah. Um so, it's got to start Sunday. Um the the also something to watch for this game, we could have an alltime bad field because Notre Dame and Pit play I think like Saturday. Is it Saturday night or afternoon? And obviously that happens a lot where Pit plays and and the Steelers have a game, they try to not have back-to-back games, but it's also later in the year. This is when
Hinesfield, I still call it Hinesfield. It is is going to look like absolute dog [ __ ]
Yep. Yep. Maybe maybe to the Steelers benefit cuz they can't stop they weren't able to stop Jamar Chase last time.
He had 16 catches last time they played and he probably could have had 20. It's crazy. It's crazy. So yeah, this field is going to look like [ __ ] and we're going to have to notice that it looks like [ __ ] Okay, Pit's actually playing. They're playing at noon local time. So there's exactly 24 hours in between games.
Grounds crew working overnight. Yeah. To just like move around a little bit of the sand.
Yeah. Spray paint this spot. Yeah. It's It's not It's going to look like dog [ __ ] Okay, next game. We're going to the afternoon. No, we're staying in the morning. This is the last early game. Chargers, Jaguars. Two teams I don't trust.
Also, Jaguars are uh plus three. Over under is 43 and a half. Very important game for playoffs, too.
The most important game. Yeah. So, do you have the numbers? I don't have the numbers.
So, the Jaguars have a uh 57% chance of making the playoffs with a win, 19% chance with a loss. That's a wild swing. The Chargers have a 91% chance of making the playoffs with a win, 58% chance with a loss. This is the most consequential. It's not the best game. It is the most consequential game on Sunday.
This is a playoff game. It is a playoff game. It's a pre-playoff game. And I I think I like the Chargers. I know they're on the road. Jacksonville has at times looked good at home. Trevor Lawrence has not looked right recently.
Nope. He's been sacked the fifth most in the NFL. But when he takes a sack, he takes like a very very obvious sack. Like he he sacks himself a lot. Uh and then Travis Hunter being out seems like it's going to be it's going to be a problem because during the games where the offense looks bad for the Jags,
they can always just get the ball to him in space and he'll make something happen. I know he's not the best receiver, best rookie receiver, but he's been good enough to the point where he's a weapon that you have to account for. And him out,
I think he's out for the rest of the season. Yes. LCL. Mhm. Something like that. It doesn't
There's too many CLs. There's too many CL's. And I just stick to MCL, ACL. Yeah, LCL. What the [ __ ] is that?
And PCL. I don't even know if I have an LCL. No, probably we probably don't. Yeah,
but yeah, I I had a a thought. I was talking to Chaps earlier about Trevor Lawrence and about how uh the relationship is gone with some of his old coaches.
Okay. Urban Meyer didn't like him. Yeah. But Urban Meyer doesn't really like anybody.
That's facts. Uh Doug Peterson didn't really get along see eye to eye that well with Trevor. And now things are like a little bit dicey. I think Liam Cohen is still in the honeymoon phase where he's like, I can fix this guy. I can make it happen. We should have the conversation though. Is is Trevor Lawrence a coach killer?
Oo. Is he good enough to get a coach fired because of all the expectations around him?
Yeah. I think he might be [clears throat] Urban Meyer and he is our colleague, but we could listen we could still say things. He he I think he killed himself.
Yeah. Unal alived himself. Yeah. Yeah. That's that's a fact. I don't think that was Trevor Lawrence's doing. That was that was some strange co-ed.
That was some fun [ __ ] That was some fun [ __ ] I have two pro Chargers stats if you want them out there if you're looking to bet on this game. The Chargers uh run a lot of gap scheme. They're gap scheme heavy run game. And the Jaguars are last in the NFL in defending gap scheme runs. So that might be a mismatch there. That's from Sports Info Solutions. And then since 2019, teams after blowing a 14 plus point lead entering the fourth quarter, which the the Jaguars blew a 19-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
So teams that have done that 14 plus blowing a four fourth quarter lead are five and 13 straight up and six and 12 against a spread
the next game. And they also we've seen it four times this year since week six this year. All four teams are 0 and four straight up in their next game.
Yeah. The Giants had an 18-point fourth quarter lead and they lost the next game by 18 points.
Yeah. So, the letdown is like a a very deflating letdown of a loss for the Jaguars.
I also think we might be getting into Harbaugh season. Could be. I think this is going to be a Harbaugh season game where he's just going to run the ball down. He was pumped up after that game last week. I think his quote, I'm paraphrasing, was, you know, you win some games with uh brilliant execution and pretty offense,
but this game we just out physical. Yeah, we just I I feel like that gave Harbaugh some life where he he now even though they're missing, you know, some of their offensive linemen, I think he sees a formula to just beat the [ __ ] out of an opponent.
Yeah, he he talked about it in the halftime interview where he's like, "We just got to keep being violent." Yeah. Something about that just pumps me up every time he does And I I I don't see Liam Cohen matching that violence.
Yeah, there's not as much violence. Not Not even really any violence from Liam.
No. Okay. Afternoon. We got some good ones, boys. Seahawks and Rams. That's my crown jewel.
That's your crown jewel. Rams are plus three. Over under is 48 and a half. The Rams are wearing their midnight
jerseys. Midnight mode. Mitt Midnight mode jerseys. Yeah. Check them out. Yeah. Check them out. Hank, tell us what you think. Is this in the Hungry Dog? Yeah,
it is. I love the Seahawks. I love the Rams. Whoa. The black unis. See, I don't I don't love those on the Rams. They got
I like the Whoa. I like the helmets. What about the blue shoulders? Hank, it looks like a Swedish kind of.
There you go. Take a sip. Then let us know what you think. Did we find out what happens? What's happening to Dvonte Adams? Deep dive. Devonte Adams did not practice, but he he did do the walkthrough and still feels Shawn McVey feels like he's committed uh to the team. I'm he's going to play.
That's right. Yeah. M McVey kind of put that out there. I remember he he was like, "Yeah, I don't want to speak for Devonte, but he Yeah, he's going to play."
Yeah, I feel good about it. Isn't oblique, but uh limit didn't really practice, but should be in a game.
I love the Seahawks in this game. Seahawks have been dominant. I know the Rams are great, too. They've been dominant in their own right. Uh, it's the matchup of one and two in DVOA
this weekend. And I just think I'm buying heavy on the Seahawks. Yeah, I like Rams. I just The Seahawks have been awesome.
Seahawks also haven't had a lot of game pressure. This game would you would you would guess this game will be close.
Yeah. And Matthew Stafford's playing out of his mind good right now. I know the Seahawks defense is is very very good. Something about that 13 personnel the Rams keep running with the three guys that just all look exactly the same. I might just bet all three of them to score a touchdown just so that if a big tall white guy is in the end zone
I just be like, "Yeah, I I have that. That's probably him. I have that." Statistically, that has to be him.
You know what? I am going to do that cuz I because it's happened a couple times where I've had Higgby and it hasn't been Higgby, but it looks like Higgby. I'm just going to spray the board of Rams.
So, the uh big white Rams. I I feel like I feel like the Seahawks are a team that would counter what the Rams are doing on offense. Their coach seems smart enough to truly
Oh, yeah. Mike McDonald is a great coach. To truly understand like it's a This is what we This is why we watch the game, guys, because we've got offensive wonderkin Shawn McVey against defensive wonderkin McDonald.
I'm more going my bet is strictly it has nothing to do with the Rams or the Seahawks overall because I think they're both very good teams. I'm taking Matthew Stafford over Sam Darnold at home.
Yeah, that's fair. I think it's fair. That's my entire kind of handicap of it. I'm taking the Seattle defensive line.
Okay, that's what I think has been a a big difference maker for the Seahawks. Okay, so let's see. Who do we Who do So, I have to bet Tyler Higgby. I got to bet Terrence Ferguson, Kobe Parkinson, and Davis Allen. [ __ ] that's a lot.
That's a lot. I might, you know what? I might do that same thing with the Seahawks running backs.
Yeah, that's smart. Get a mix in there. Get all three of them. And and and just so we're clear, they all do look exactly alike. Terrence Ferguson, white guy.
Yep. Would not expect. No, but Kobby Parkinson, you would expect. He sounds Kobe.
Yeah, Colby. But they are all the same. They've all scored touchdowns this year. We're gonna we're gonna sprinkle all the Rams, all the big white tight ends on the Rams and just hope that every I'm gonna have to do like double touchdowns on all because like they're going to one of the the big white guys in the Rams is going to score.
Yeah. At some point. Yeah. I I might I might take all three headto head. Head to head.
Who Who ends up with more units? And Cooper Cup. And Cooper Cup. He's get He's getting uh He might They might be doing something. He's They were
tribute video. Yeah, tribute video possibly. He just said, "I didn't die." So, yeah, I don't think he wants one.
That's the correct answer, by the way. Yeah, we do too many tribute videos. Yeah. Crazy Sam Darnold uh stat. Five years, first five years of his career, 21 and 35 record. Last two years, 21 and five. So, in the first five year, he is in the last year and a half of football, he has tied the amount of wins that he had in his first five years in football.
Yeah, he's been he's been great. He's been awesome. Uh memes, do you find yourself rooting for or against Sam Darnold? I always forget.
Uh for Sam Darnold. I like Sam because that's also that's a situation where you're like rooting for Sam Darnold because you're also like see how stupid the Jets are,
right? No. Oh, see how stupid Joe Douglas is. Yeah. Yeah. Blame the guys that used to be in Robert Salah.
Okay. Okay. If you can get the right guys in the because like that's also coaching Sam Darnold.
Well, yeah, Adam Gase was the worst coach in the world, but they also had the decision of taking Zach Wilson over
Sam Darnold. True, true, true. Hyperdrive, though. Hyperdrive wasn't sick. Yeah,
it was bad. Yeah. Um, Big Cat, got to uh uh guess who said this for you. Oh, I like that. Um, when talking about the Giants opening, okay, for their head coach,
Jackson Dart, Malik Neighbors, [ __ ] yeah, would want that job. An offensive coach in the NFC.
Said that. Said that a current coach. A current off a current offensive No, offensive coach, not head coach.
Cliff Kingsbury. Uh, no. I was I mean, we don't know who said it because it was anonymous. Oh,
my money is on Kubak. Got it. Clint Kubak. He's going to be the name that's going to get if if the Seahawks offense continues to be great. He will be a head coach next year.
Yes, I agree. Shout out office manager Brett. Again, don't have any idea if he actually said that, but I saw the quote and I was like,
we're going to just attribute it to him. I thought it was Cliff for a second, but then I think it was a successful offensive coach this season and Cliff would not fall into that category.
That would not be that would not work. Okay. Niners, Cardinals, Cardinals plus three. Cardinals have some injuries. Marvin Harrison, he had a appendecttomy.
Yeah, he had appendicitis. Appendicitis. And then we also lost Z Jones for the year.
Achilles. And Brock Party might be back. So Shanahan said that he could have played last week, which is confusing to me because if he could have played last week,
why didn't he play it? Why didn't he play? Yeah. Why didn't he play? Soft benching.
They had a I soft benching. They said that they ran him through an aggressive practice on Wednesday.
Yeah. With the goal of having him come back. I want to say that the Niners are going to win this game, but I don't know.
I agree. I I don't know. I agree. I think that the Cardinals are they're they're big- time bummer right now.
They're a big time bummer, but remember, they did have a couple games in a row and Jacobe Brassette did okay, but maybe we just got fooled by Jacobe Brassette again.
It happens. It happens. It happens almost every year. I had the Cardinals last week. I got big time fooled. He was over so fast.
He has looked a lot better than Kyler Murray's looked this season. That's not That's not a mistake. He's better right now.
The question is, yeah. So, he looked better against the Cowboys defense. I do the Niners, as injured as they are, I do say the Niners are probably a little bit better than the Cowboys defensively. So, yeah, I lean I lean Niners, but not really a game I want to with the Crown Jewels in the afternoon. I don't know if this is a game I want to bet.
No. No. I Well, I will. Right. But I don't want to. I don't want to. I'm being I'm being forced to by my own brain.
Uh but yeah, I I don't think it really matters that much this weekend who's starting. I think that Brock Party is definitely the better quarterback overall. Um but in this matchup, yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine. If you want to hold Brock out one more week, make sure because I don't really trust that Brock is being completely honest about his foot. Yeah,
I think that from the very start he was like, "It's not that bad." M. Jones been playing well.
Mac. Jones has been playing pretty good. M. Jones. Yep. Okay. Ravens at Browns. Browns plus 7 and a half. Over under is 39 a half. You can get a Here are the following items that are more expensive than a ticket to the game on game time. A cheeseburger, stadium nachos, a beer, and a hot dog. All cost more than getting into the game.
Love that. So, not exactly a high ticketed game with the Browns. They're just the Browns. What's their fir what's the Browns first half line? That's what we got to do. I say it every week. I might just bet that I might just bet the Browns plus three and a half first half and know that they're going to lose the game because they will lose this game.
Speaking of the Browns, I saw a hypothetical trade Kyler Murray for Shadore. Think about it.
I saw someone float out. Is Kyler Murray the heir apparent to Matthew Stafford?
See, that's what I'm saying. I do think that Kyler Murray if he finds himself it's got to be
a good coach. It's got to be a good coach. I I'm not ready to completely I'm not shorting for the long term. Kyler Murray.
He's already short enough right now. Yeah. I'm I'm buying long-term stock at penny prices right now for him. By the way, RIP the penny.
RIP the penny. We minted our last penny yesterday. What? The penny's dead. Yeah. Philadelphia Philly killed the penny.
No more pennies. How do they No, there's They're not making any more pennies each. It was costing 4 cents per penny.
Holy [ __ ] To make and Yeah. So, we should have stopped that a while ago. So, we're just not doing pennies.
No more pennies. We got enough. But pennies still exist. Yeah. Well, they No one's going to like show up and confiscate your pennies.
Yeah. They don't they don't take them away. But are are banks still going to have pennies?
Probably not. When was the last time you you actually used a penny? Never. Never.
You can't even flip a coin with a penny. I I mean I have a coin with a penny. It's not a real flip of a coin.
So what happens if you're getting changed and you need to use pennies and and the place doesn't have pennies? Do they just have to round up?
I think they either round up or down. Down. Yeah. I mean, who when was the last time if I if I got like a nickel or a penny? That's no different from having trash in my hand.
I'm pretty much that way with all change. But yeah. Yeah. I don't The last time I used a penny had to be on a scratch off,
like to scratch it. That's a good point. Not to buy it. I I don't I can't remember the last time I handed somebody a penny as part of a payment.
Bitcoin, man. Bitcoin. That has nothing to do with this, but Bitcoin, [clears throat] man.
Good point, Max. What were we talking about? Uh the Browns and the Ravens. Yeah.
Uh the Ravens might be doing some sneaky stuff on defense. So, the the Ravens defense has it looks like they've turned the corner
and that's that's fueled their comeback. And that's why everybody's saying the Ravens combined uh with their defense and their schedule, they look to be in a good position to win that division. Uh against the Vikings last week, the Vikings had eight false start penalties
against the Ravens, and that's the most by a home team in the last 16 seasons. Whoa.
Kind of an outlier game for him. And then uh the Vikings offense, specifically Aaron Jones, said that they were doing like little little yells and movements at the line of scrimmage.
Oh, they're cheating. Trying to get them to Well, they didn't call it. But is John Harbaugh up to his old tricks?
Yeah. Gray area found something. Hank, do you have any animosity still towards John Harbaugh for either uh bending the rules or uh complaining about when you bent the rules? No, I mean he's just bit of a loser, but that's all right.
Okay. Why don't you say that to his face when we saw him? Is it kind of like the windmill? Just you talk all this [ __ ] on the podcast, then you see some faces.
I don't like to talk [ __ ] about people on this podcast. You guys just force me into situations similar to Big Dom.
Yeah, but what about the windmill? You talk [ __ ] about the windmill and then you just didn't say anything to its face.
I was. We were even close to windmill. The windmills are so big that we were like thousands of yards away.
Well, no. You were staring eye to eye with a windmill. And what about John Harbaugh?
I like John Harbaugh is a good guess on this show, but a bit of a loser is what you said.
I mean, that's just statistically correct. He's won one Super Bowl. Yeah, he's been coaching for how many seasons?
You beat his brother. Yeah, he's a bit He's a bit of a winner, too. There we go. There it is. Bit of a winner.
Yeah. Tiny bit of a winner. Tiny bit of a loser. They haven't made the Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson how many times?
Yeah. And we might not. And is that Is that wrong to say? No, that's not wrong to say. We might not get Lamar. He's banged up. Didn't practice on Wednesday. It could be Tyler Huntley playing against week 10 rookie of the week nominee Dylan Gabriel.
Yeah. So, huge matchup. Also, here's something crazy. The Ravens have lost three out of the last four in Cleveland.
That is crazy. I think that these games should count towards Lamar's playoff stats. Every game's a playoff game for the Ravens.
Yeah, that's true. You're right. In theory, it's like they can't drop any Yeah, you're absolutely right.
This is a weird afternoon game. It's It's kind of just put into This is screams 1:00.
Yeah. How many Browns fans are going to show up for the tailgate thinking that the game kicks off at at 1.
A lot. I'd say probably a couple thousand. Yes, absolutely. This This might be the drunkest fan base of the week.
Like Packers Giants should be at 3:25. Bucks Bills should be at 325. Yeah. Yeah. There's going to be dudes in the MUN lot at 4:00 a.m. anticipating a 1:00 p.m. kickoff and then finding out they got three extra hours to drink. It's going to be a problem.
Yeah. Okay. Last afternoon game. Chiefs at Broncos. Broncos are plus three and a half. Over under 43 and a half. I love the Chiefs.
Love the Chiefs. I love the Chiefs. Love the Chiefs. Andy Reid off a buy. 22 and four
in the regular season. I don't I'm not going to say the Broncos are frauds yet, but it is a little something some something sniffing around where it's like they're eight and two and they're struggling with a lot of teams and yeah, I think the Chiefs are going to I think the the line says everything here. The Chiefs are five and four. The Broncos are eight and two. The Broncos are three and a half point underdogs at home.
Yeah, that that doesn't make any sense. Yeah. I mean, every game is now, much like the Ravens, a must-win for the Chiefs. This is probably their most important game of the season.
Mhm. Because if they lose, per the Athletic, their odds of of winning the AFC West, 7%.
Ooh. That's of winning the division. I actually, here's what here's what I I actually kind of like throwing this out there. I think the Chiefs are going to beat the Broncos. I think you bet the Broncos to win the AFC West after they lose to the Chiefs.
Okay? because they actually have not that tough of a schedule down the stretch. They do play the Chiefs again. Can you pull up the the Broncos schedule? So, they're at eight wins right now. So, if they lose to the Chiefs, they'll be eight and three. Everyone will overreact and be like, "Oh, well, the Chiefs are going to win the AFC West now. They play the Commanders, Raiders, Packers, Jaguars in their next four." Like if if if you want to say that they they can win the Commanders, Raiders, Jaguars game.
What do they got? They got to win one of the Packers, Chiefs, Chargers games to get to 12 wins. Does 12 wins do it?
Yeah. So I I think that's the move. You wait for the Chiefs to pound them. You wait for everyone to overreact, then you jump on the Broncos to win the AFC West.
What What's the Chargers record right now? Chargers are seven and three. Seven and three. And they started off on that that heater against the division.
They were three and0. Yeah. So I Yeah, Chargers could obviously I understand the logic behind it. If it's strictly between the Broncos and the Chiefs, that wouldn't be a bad idea.
Yeah, Chargers kind of muck it up a little bit. Uh this is Bo Knicks hears the critics sometimes, but only when they say it to his face.
Hank, Boon Knicks wants to hear. He only takes the criticism seriously if you're man enough to say it right to him.
Well, I agree with that. Yeah, he deleted his social media. I agree with that, too. I mean, it is the I I I saw an interview. Christian Bale had an interview. It's long long ago, but it was made perfect sense, especially for anyone in the public eye. It's actually helped me personally. If someone says something about you uh and they don't have your phone number to tell you like face to face, then they don't know you well enough to say something about you.
It's true. They don't know if they don't if they don't if they can't say it to you on the phone or or face to face, that means they don't know you. And so whatever they're saying is just illinformed.
I'm looking That might be what Bon Knicks is going for. I'm looking at some stats right now. This stat's been making the rounds. Uh the comparison of Mahomes and Bo Knicks since Bo got into the league. Mahomes 6,277 passing yards. Bo Nicks 5,91 passing yards. Mahomes 43 pass touchdowns. Bo Nicks 47 pass touchdowns. Mahomes 16 picks. Bo 20 picks. Uh, Mahomes 592 rush yards, Bo Knicks 635 rush yards, Mahomes six rushing touchdowns, Bo Knicks seven rushing touchdowns. Are they the same guy?
No. I'm going to say no. I'm going to say I'm going to agree with you and say no about that one.
Yeah, I'm going to say no. Bicks at times looks incredible and then at other times does look like Tim Tibo. Well, I guess he at times he looks like Tim Tibo. At other times he looks like Tim Tibo.
Yes, that makes sense. It does makes if you're a Broncos fan, you get it. Yeah, you get it. And it makes perfect sense. But yeah, I like I I think this is going to be Chiefs.
All Chiefs. I think this is Chiefs. I agree. This is a nuke. Nuke Chiefs. You nuke Chiefs.
Oh, yeah. Altitude. Not worried about it. The Chiefs don't lose these games. This is This is
Are you doing a reverse? No. But I thought you have to be worried about about Mahomes. Are you forgetting worried about
I don't think he's worried about Mahomes anymore. I am worried about What do you mean?
Okay. The This is like the classic game where it's like, "Oh, the Chiefs might lose this game." No.
Mhm. I agree. All right, last game. Sunday Night Football. Another crown jewel.
That's me putting respect on Mahomes's name. I like that. Lions and Eagles. Eagles are minus two and a half. Overund is 46 and a half.
Oh, you like the Lions. Love the Lions. You love the Lions. Everyone loves the Lions.
I like the Eagles. Everyone Everyone loved the Eagles on Monday. That's not true. Everyone loved the Packers too.
Did you Did you know that Chris Brousard said this is a uh a double must win? Chris Brousard.
Yeah, Brousard. He said it's a double must win. The the the the Lions need a signature win and Philadelphia needs a win to keep AJ Brown happy. I completely disagree with both. The win means nothing to AJ Brown.
Signature also signature wins do not it's not the BCS. None of that [ __ ] matters.
AJ Brown has has Yeah. Indiana doesn't help AJ Brown being unhappy after wins even when he scores.
He literally said I don't care about wins or losses when the offense looks like it does.
It's actually so AJ Brown had a pretty good he had a media availability. So the the week is gone. The the the Eagles win Monday Night Football. Then AJ Brown goes on plays some video games and tells everyone who has him in fantasy to drop him because he ain't doing [ __ ] And then he talked to the media and he said it's not about Jaylen Herz. It's but the offense is kind of stuck in mud. I he shouldn't he shouldn't do this as much of a distraction is but everything he said was kind of right. Like the Eagles are winning but the offense does not look good.
Mhm. That's facts. And and people should drop me for fan. Yeah. I He has not had a great season so far.
You shouldn't say any of this [ __ ] I'm okay with it. Yeah. Listen, it it was said on Twitch stream. It was a heated gaming moment.
Mhm. Those things happen. Yeah, they happen. How are you feeling, Max? About AJ Brown,
about everything. Must win. Sure. Must win. No, you don't mean that. All right. So, that's not
It's not a must. No, it's not a must win for you. I mean, every single week the Eagles play another top team in the NFL and it's a must-win. Every week we have we have the hardest [ __ ] schedule of all time.
Yep. And and here we go again. It's going to be another must-win. We'll probably win again and everyone will still say the Eagles suck. I'm just It's just the same thing over and over week after week and that's just the way it is.
Yeah, I actually agree with that. I I think the Lions are very good. Obviously, the Lions secondary is getting back to health. The Lions outdoors are different than the Lions at home. This feels like maybe this could very well be the NFC Championship preview.
And uh I do respect Dan Campbell for standing on the table. Remember Dan Campbell was the only one of the teams that or were playing the Eagles this year that voted to keep the tush push.
He had a great Yeah. He said, "I'm a purist. You take something out of the game, then we're taking the next thing out of the game and pretty soon we don't have pads anymore. Then pretty soon you're only playing 30 minutes. They've got a niche. They found something. They're good at it. It's for everybody else to stop. That's a man.
That's a man. Pretty soon we're gonna take pads away. Pads out of the game. That was That was such a funny way to
play 30 minutes. Yep. I know. I I I do like the Lions this week. No disrespect uh to Max. I just think uh
No, I want everyone to Everybody likes the I'm actually mad that Big Cat doesn't like the Lions.
Yeah. Just I Yeah, there's probably a little bias. Well, I also would like you to finish the Alliance. This is a big Alliance moment.
I also I also think the Eagles offense I I get frustrated watching it for you. It's It can't be fun watching that because in theory you have you have the best running back. You've got a Super Bowl champion quarterback, Super Bowl MVP quarterback. You've got two incredible wide receivers. You've got a great tight end. And you have the best offensive line in football.
The offensive line in the best offensive line in football is very banged up right now.
Yeah. Three star three starters are down. Oh, you got three down now. Yes. Well, three are three are limited.
Yeah. Jurgens, that's that's a big that's a big test is if is if Lane plays. If Lane plays, I'm I I will not be as if Lane doesn't play, I will not be as confident because the Lions have a good pass rush and we need we need our offensive line to, you know, be sturdy. I don't know. I I still feel good. Like this is just the Eagles are just kind of that new team in the NFL that they're so good and they win every week, but everyone loves to hate them and then it just it's just inevitable inevitable that we just keep winning football games.
Yeah. I mean, but the the the criticisms of Kevin Patulo and the offense are fair.
Yeah. And that and we're still seven and two. Yep. Like if the season's not over, teams get better throughout throughout the season. offenses can get better. If they can if they can figure it out, good luck. The defense last night, last week looked insane.
Yeah, it looked insane with with our with our defensive linebacker. And now you have Dan Campbell calling plays. Do you think there's a chance Nick Serriani should start calling plays? Pulling at Dan Campbell.
Uh, no, not yet. I think Dan Campbell was also very smart about that. Yeah, he was very smart. He's like, "Yeah, you know, I think maybe this week." Who are we playing again? Oh. Oh, the commander. Yeah. Yeah. You know what? I'll give play Colin a shot this way. We'll see if that looks a little bit better.
You're right. Very smart move by him. Oh, also with the Broncos, jump it back one game.
Yep. Do they ever play games on the road? It doesn't feel that way. Or do they only play home games? Did the Broncos get the first schedule where they get every game at home? Because
Well, it was the combo when they played the Eagles and then played overseas in back-to-back weeks. I feel like that was just all their road games for the year.
Probably. Yeah, they probably tick up a little bit at the end of the season, but I think it's four out of five at home.
Yeah, it does feel like we've watched a lot of and I love watching there's something about Mile High and just you get a little romantic about football
and just there's something about it. Although to to Hank's point uh win, I'm I'm more so I'm I'm I'm looking at the Lion schedule. The Lions three losses that they have the Eagles have beat every single
Okay, we were talking. I know. I'm That's why I I try to cut myself try to cut myself off. You literally turned your mic on just to go
Well, but then because I was going to say something I was like I shouldn't I shouldn't say
every I mean lost to the Packers, Eagles Eagles beat him. Lost to the got smoked by the Chiefs, Eagles beat him. Lost to the Vikings, Eagles beat him. And they lost the Vikings at home. Like every this it's a Packer. It's a Lions suckfest because they score a lot of points against shitty [ __ ] teams.
There you go. Get the heat up. The Lions finish the job, Max. This is just Yeah, this is just what the Lions do every [ __ ] year. They score a lot of points against shitty [ __ ] teams and everyone thinks that they're the best. Whatever.
If the Eagles win on Sunday night, I think we'll put the Philadelphia Eagles shirts back on stale because those are those are fun shirts. They look ridiculous.
They were cool dogs. They were very cool dogs. But you're right, the Broncos don't play on the road.
They don't play on the road. Yeah. And they get the altitude. Okay, let's do our fantasy minute. Let's do our picks. Let's do our picks first. So, we have the touchdown parlay. We won last week. Mhm. And said I didn't want it before because of his negative attitude. I'm like, "Okay, but he sent this to you directly." Memes.
Yeah. What What else did he say to you? Some stuff about you. Oh, okay. What else?
Don't worry about it. Any uh Okay. Instagram links? No, no Instagram links. Okay. All right.
Cool. Did you already watch this memes? I did. That's illegal. What do you mean?

Uh we're going to sit the entire staff at PMT because Hank gave them monkey pucks. Bye-bye. We're going to start Joe Flacco rare double revenge game. Baltimore and Joe Burrow's in the building and start the Green Bay defense. I did it. Call 1800 vaccination. Hank, you [ __ ]
Oh, his tape's coughing right now as we speak. Yeah, the double revenge game. Yeah, Joe Flacco against the Steelers
because it was a Raven. He played college football. No. I mean, because the Ravens hated the Steelers, I think.
Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. Yeah. I think that travels with you. I I think that if you're a if you're a Raven, for the most part, you will continue to hate the Steelers.
Yeah, I'd agree. Unless you're Yeah, I'd agree. What are you guys laughing about in there?
No. Nothing. What? What? So funny. What's so funny? Share with the class. We just said We just said Pat Pat's dinner. It looks like a good dinner.
What was it? Two pieces of pizza, garlic knots, and M&M's. That's not enough, Zach.
It's good spread, though. Yeah, that is a good spread. He hit a lot of categories.
Okay, picks and then we'll get to our interview with Joel Clatt. Who's up first and what are the records?
We don't know. Uh PFT is up first. Okay. Okay. Uh Big Cat's 13 has 13 points. Max is 11. I have 10. Memes and Zach have nine. PFT has eight.
I'm going to go uh Ravens Browns under 39 and a half. Okay. I am going to go with the Kansas City Chiefs three and a half. You know, I mean, come on. We both like it.
[ __ ] you. Ky Chiefs minus three and a half. Uh, give me the Spender 47 and A2.
The Spadder. I love that. The Madr uh Commanders Dolphins under 47 and a half. I wish I could bet the [ __ ] Chiefs. I'll go Bucks plus six.
Okay. I'm going to go Jags plus three. Okay. I would like to go Falcons minus three and a half.
And and I would also like to go uh under 48 and a half in the Seahawks Rams game.
Okay. I will go under 44 and a half in Chiefs Broncos. I will go over Packers Giants 42 and a half. I don't know, man.
I like that pick, memes. That was my pick. [ __ ] I will take the [ __ ] [ __ ] Can I get Browns plus seven and a half? Yeah, that's what it is right now.
I like that, too. I was debating that one. I'll take that. Browns plus seven and a half. Pray Lamar absolutely.
Pray Lamar doesn't play. Browns plus seven and a half. Did anyone take the um Steelers Bengals over?
I don't think so. I'm just going to do it. 49 and a half. All right. Bengals overs.
I'm going to take the New York Football Giants plus seven. Okay. Against the Packers.
Jamus. Jamus. Seven. That's a lot of points. Jamus. Jamus. Okay. Let's get to our interview. We got Joel Clatt in studio and then we'll finish up with Firefest. It is Joel Clatt. You can listen to him on the Joel Clatt Show, which uh is a great college football show. You also can hear him every single Saturday, big noon kickoff with Gus Johnson. Joel, this is actually uh serendipity because we had I had one of our fans tweet us and be like,
"Can you guys please get Joel clad on?" Nice. Last night. He's like, "He's going to be in town." I was like, "It's already planned here." So, this is a a guest that I think a lot of people wanted. We're excited to have you here, but I have a very important question to ask you to start.
Okay. Did you think we were maybe about to lose Gus Johnson at the Indiana Penn State game?
I did see there was I can't remember who who tweeted it, but I I saw one of the tweets right after it was like Indiana broke Gus Johnson. And I will tell you, I've worked with him for 11 years and I've never heard him crack. I knew he was he was struggling a little bit with with a cold last week and then like I didn't hear it all game and he has given some big calls cuz it's a great game and then when when that play happened I there was two thoughts. One I was like there's no way he's inbounds and two I was like oh he cracked right there. Yeah. I thought we had lost him for a second.
I thought we lost him for a second. I was like Joel's gonna have to finish this broadcast. We don't have Gus Johnson anymore. He is so what here's what I love about working with Gus is that well when I we all watch and consume sports all the time guys and and as as you know and this is not a knock against all these other guys but everybody has like a prepared call
you know and ready to go and that's great and it can be iconic there's no doubt
Gus reacts with pure emotion in the moment just like you're sitting on the couch with it and I think that's what resonates and That's what you heard on Saturday.
And and and it's we say this because you know we're we're good friends with Joe Buck and and we've had a lot of broadcasters on like your guys uh camaraderie and relationship comes through on the broadcast and I think that's such an underrated part of watching a game where the two guys that are calling the game are friends and they have rapport. It comes across. It makes it so much better.
Well, thank you first of all. That's that's nice of you to say and and that's something that we effort we talk about more so than the content we talk about the sound
and the rhythm of the broadcast and he and he actually taught me that he's you know he's obviously so experienced and and he's so good at what he does and I remember when I first started working with him he used to talk to me and he was like hey listen man we're just in double Dutch right now don't trip the rope he's like because the fan just wants the rhythm and and they like it when they know who's speaking so our voices are different and our cadence is correct, but just don't trip the rope, you know. And I think that that was that was something that he taught me early on when I started working with him and it's something that I've held on to uh ever since and in the best ways. I focus on and he focuses on the rhythm of the broadcast in those moments and I think that I think that it works.
It does. It's it's a lot of fun to listen to. I did think that maybe he passed away though after that the the scream he let out in that moment. I think you did a good job of of letting him breathe afterwards like you weren't like checking on him like are you okay partner? Yeah. Uh how does that work? Because you were talking about like the double dutch. You don't want to step over the other guy's lines. I think in podcast it's one thing because half of our job is like just yelling at each other. Sure. Uh but when you're doing it in the booth and the game's going on,
it's always nice to hear a booth like yours that lets the other person finish. There's a space, the other person begins. Do you guys is that just the rhythm that you've established over the years or is there actually like physical touching like I'm I'm I'm gonna touch you while I'm talking. Yeah. Hands off, you go.
Um uh very little like communication between us. So it's all a rhythm that is just unspoken and and I think it it comes with and we focus on this by the way with our entire crew. I'll give uh our producer and director a big shout out as well. Chuck McDonald's, our producer, Rich Dwey is our director, and and the four of us along with Jenny. So, the five of us on the sideline, we understand that each one of us has a role for a certain moment within the game where the game is ours. You know, we know when it's Gus's time and everybody in that team knows, all right, it's Gus's time and he's going to go to 10 and and that's the moment. Everyone knows when it's like, "All right, it's time for Joel to set up what's going on.
What's what's just happened?" You know, it's it's my time in the game. We know when it's the producers's time. He's backed up on break, so we got to get some sales items in, and we're going to lay out a little bit more so that he can work. We know when the emotion in the stadium is is so great that any words we say are going to ruin it. That's the director's time to take shots and cut around and bring the fan at home into the stadium. and then when we know when it's time to get a story and and further the story on the field and go down to Jenny. So, I I think it's it's legitimately as nerdy as this sound, it's it's understanding your role just like any team. Um there's a a book that I love, and again, I know this sounds nerdy, but there's this incredible leadership book called Good to Great by Jim Collins. And one of the premises in the book is that in any business or in any group, you've got to have the right
people in the right seats on the bus in order for it to succeed. And that's how I view our crew. Like we are all in unique seats and we all understand when each of us need to take the forefront of the broadcast.
Yeah. Yeah. It works and I I love it. I also listen to your podcast. Uh I I don't know if you have a name for your listeners. Is there like a fan a fan base that I'm a part of that I'm not
I don't that's a class Bratz. I don't know. That would be interesting. Yeah. But I I do listen to the show.
You've been telling me that we're entering the golden age of college football for like the last three or four years. Yes.
Are we are we still in the golden age? Has it Are we about to enter it? When When is Are we in it right now?
I think we're in it. I think that we really are. I do. I don't I think college football's never been better.
Okay. I think we're going to get to it once we kind of get a little bit more adjusted in the NIL world.
Totally agree. And I'm not saying it's perfect. Yeah. But it it's never been better. And that's why I say that we're about to enter this incredible era of college football is because it's really messy and yet the product is better than we've ever had it before. And there's more teams that are involved at the top end of the sport than ever before. More fan bases that are involved. And I mean look at Texas Tech and Indiana, you know, Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt 10 years ago, if you would have said like, "Yeah, these teams are going to be, you know, in the top six and competing for a national title,
you would have thought you were crazy. You know, it was Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia, and that's it." And maybe Ohio State.
Yeah. And to that point, I I I was explaining to someone the other day about like the college coaches and the buyouts and all this stuff. And I I agree with a lot of what you're saying. The NIL stuff once it kind of stabilizes, I think we'll really be in the golden age. But in Indiana is a perfect example. 10 years ago, Kurt Signetti is gone to Penn State instantly.
100%. It's It's not even a question. He's out 100%. But now it's a new world where why can't he win at India? Why can't Clark Lee stay at Vanderbilt? Like he can.
That's right. Lane Kein might stay at Old Miss. He should. He He might I I've been told that
basically they've told them write a number down. Yeah. And and LSU has told him the same thing. And I think he wants Florida.
Yeah. But I they're himming and hawing, you know. So that's the domino that's going to fall. But this conversation is is so fascinating because we've seen this, you know, Dan Landing turned down Alabama to stay at Oregon. That's great for the sport. I think Joey Maguire's at his dream job. It's Texas Tech. You know, that's great for the sport. Um,
and it's going to put these open jobs in a real bind. I think Penn State's in a bind right now. I think Auburn's in a bind right now. It's like, who who are you going to hire?
Yeah. Um, if you were Penn State, who would you who would you be looking at right now?
That's a great question. Thank you. It really is. It really is because the SEC openings are so obviously it's like, well, we're going to try to get Lane,
right? Right. And in Penn State, it's not as obvious. I think what happened at Penn State is that they felt like they could get Curt Signetti and so they made the move and then immediately Indiana just is like boom, 11.6 per year. And it's like whoa.
Yeah. And and I the reason I feel that way is that I I I don't think Penn State was going to go with the search firm and then now they have a search firm. So it's like there's now two different strategies that have been played out at Penn State. Um okay. So I'm dancing around your question. Who who would I target or do I think they're going to target?
I guess who would you target and then who do you think they're We can do both. Okay. So if it was me, I would call Brian Kelly, although that's not very popular. Mhm.
I would call Pat Fitzgerald, although there's whatever you want to call it. I I think Pat Fitzgerald is he is going to get hired by a big school and I think that he should. Yeah,
and he should. I'm I'm firmly he's he's one of the best college football coaches I've ever been around. It's a shame that he's not in right now. I think he's going to get in in this cycle and whoever gets him is going to be really lucky. I'll throw out another name that I think is is fascinating is Jim Moira
at Yukon. He's doing a hell of a job. And if you actually look at what he did at UCLA and what UCLA is historically, it's like, okay, that guy can coach and he's doing a heck of a job at Yukon. They just beat Duke last week. And then the last name I would throw out there and and everyone in Ohio wants to
hit me over the head when I say this, but Brian Hart. Yeah, I would call Brian Hart.
Can I Can I give you one more name? Yeah. And it's it probably wouldn't happen because I think unfortunately Penn State's in a weird spot where they have to hire someone that everyone immediately is like, "Wow, that's great." Yeah,
I Fran Brown has a down ear right now with Syracuse, but that guy can recruit the hell out of football and he's knows the area. He's from New Jersey. He's like he coached at Temple. Like that's a guy it would probably not be popular, but I bet you with Penn State's resources, he would make them a winner.
Here's what's here's what's fascinating to me is I get in these conversations. I was just on with with Coward this this week and he's talking about like you got to have a a tried andrue winner and a guy that's been a head coach before and I'm like timeout and unfortunately I didn't think of this because I'm not like quick enough. Um but afterwards I was like wait wait wait the three coaches who have won national championships in college football are Kirby Smart Davos Sweeney and Ryan Day. None of them had head coaching experience before they got the job where they ultimately won a national championship. You would put Dan Lanning in the elite category. you'd put Lincoln Lincoln Riley in the elite C category.
There are so many guys that are that didn't have head coaching experience before they got a job where they were ultimately an excellent head coach.
Yeah. And not only that, winning the press conference does nothing. No, it doesn't.
You the the like more schools should wake up especially this year if you look around the landscape. We talked about signetti, Clarkley, all that stuff, but one of the best teams in the country is Texas A&M. And what they do, they won the the press conference with Jimbo Fischer
and then they got a guy in Mike Elco who everyone's like, "Oh, what dude?" Okay. He's an unbelievable coach.
Not only that, he's a great fit at Texas A&M and understands it and they they've had a great year. Um, I totally agree with you and and for Penn State, they need a great fit.
Yeah. And you know the the Heartline thing for me, Brian Hartine will be a head coach at some point somewhere. I don't know where. And he's going to succeed because he recruits incredibly well. He's very detail oriented. And his whole career, he's had more of an eye towards the CEO position rather than the play caller position. So, yes, he's calling plays now at Ohio State, but in the back of his mind, he's always built himself and and tried to ready himself to be a head coach because now more than ever, I don't really care if you can call plays. It's so much bigger than that, guys, because of NIL, like you've mentioned, because of the transfer portal. Now, you have a GM. You got to build a roster every single year. You've got this revenue share that you've got to divide amongst the players. You got to talk with their agents. It's really not about whether you can call defense or offense. It's can you hire a great
staff and then manage all of those things within your your organization. Yeah. So, so who are they going to hire? Because that was the who they should look at. But who do you think it's going to end up being?
I think it's going to be one of those guys. Okay. Okay. I do think it's going to be one of those guys.
Yeah. And it's I mean it it's weird that Penn State is not the premier job in a in a carousel because this is you know LSU and Florida.
So I caught a bunch of flak for saying I think LSU is a top three job in college football.
I agree. Let's see. Top three. Um I think it's a better job than Alabama. I would say I did. So that's what I caught all that. I totally agree with that. And it's not it's not it's not a slight Alabama, but and we've said this on this podcast and we've had people come on and explain it, but there LSU has the unique thing. It's actually probably the only two states is Ohio State and and Louisiana where kids are born in that state and that's all they want to do is play for that school. And that right there gives you a leg up.
There's also more resources at LSU than there are at Alabama. Yeah. You know, like they they've got a couple of boosters that are just
how do you call it? They're they're just a little bit more in the shadows than other schools.
You know, like Texas Tech, this guy at Texas Tech, he's very much at the forefront. Oh, yeah. Names on the field. And it's like, I'm the guy doing this.
There is a guy at LSU that is wealthier than the Texas Tech donor that is behind everything going on at LSU. They've got massive resource,
uh, the Raisin Canes. Yeah. Yeah. He's a friend of ours. He's the man. Yeah. He's he's incredible. and committed to that place and he's among others as well, right? You know, so like
Bama doesn't have that guys. They they don't they have the history, but it's also and and it's just the instate recruit. Like if you're if you're taking the Florida job, you're competing against Florida State, you're competing against Miami. And obviously recruiting is so different now that it's not you get you pull talent from everywhere. But Louisiana, kids in Louisiana play for LSU. Kids in Ohio play for Ohio State. There are four schools, five schools that can literally open up their back doors and within 20 square miles have a top five recruiting class.
It's Miami, Texas&M, Texas, LSU, and USC. Yeah, I don't think there's another one. Maybe Georgia, yeah, is in there as well, but I think you've got to go a little bit further. But when you're talking about recruiting base, like those schools have a base, right, that they can, you know, pull from to get as good a talent as anybody.
Do you think that Brian Kelly's going to get hired given that he was just fired for cause at LSU on Monday after he he was fired twice? I feel bad for the guy now. I didn't think that was possible.
What a mess that is. And that's the only, by the way, that's what you just asked is the only reason that that job is not attractive. you got the governor,
right? Is because it's it's a disaster. It's like, well, who's in charge? Who's my boss?
You direct report to the governor of the state. That's that's what you have to look at. I mean, that's the reality if you're taking that job. And just by hearing him give a press conference, I know nothing about the man's politics, anything that he's done in the state, I just know that that is a guy that is going to be a problem for a head coach.
Um, you never want to work for someone that is passionate about what you do, but knows very little about it. Mhm.
Yeah. Mhm. [clears throat] Yeah. But they don't know that they know very little.
No, no, no. They think they know a lot, but they don't. Uh, so I I don't know how attractive I think in the overarching conversation, LSU is a great job. Y
this year, I don't know because of all of that mess behind the scenes. I do kind of like governor run the damn ball though. Like if if that's what you're dealing with from the governor, there's something charming about that in like a deep south kind of way. Yeah, I I do think that LSU is going to be a great job. And uh I I
Who do you think is going to get it? Do we Do you guys think Lane's going to take that job? I don't think Lane's going to take that job.
I think he's going to stay. I think he's I think he's going to stay at Old Miss.
I do, too. If you would asked me last week, I would have said, "No, no, no. He's he's definitely going to leave." I'm leaning that direction.
Yeah, cuz I mean, think about what he has. He You can win there. He's proven that. And he also has if he goes and takes the Florida job, the LSU job, he has to win right away. Yeah. He's built up the capital at Old Miss. He's got a really good thing going and they're at places as a program that they've never been before and he's the reason for it. So, if they have a down year that no one's going to be like, "Hey, get rid of Lane."
It's a great point. Yeah. I also Let me like make an analogy to Colorado, which is where I played and Dion like Colorado needed Dion Sanders badly. Like they needed air to breathe. But I would make the argument Dion needed a place like Colorado because it wasn't a place that was going to be heavy-handed with tradition or you can't do this or that. It's just like, hey man, you've got the keys to the entire castle. Do it how you want to do it. You this is your program. And in some ways, Lane has that at Old Miss and he wouldn't have that at other places. You know, there would be, you know, boosters or people around saying like, "Well, we don't do it that way and Lane's like, "U, I do. Sorry." And and at Miss, it's his program, right? And I think if you sat back and if you're Lane and you you valued that, then then you would stay.
That's why I'm leaning that direction. I think Miss is good for Lane as much as Lane is good for Miss.
Absolutely agree. Do you have a Heisman vote? I do. Uh, who'd you vote for last year?
Um, oh gosh, the the winner. Okay, good. Travis Hunter. Yes. Yes. Travis Hunter.
All right. Good. Good. I'm sorry. You just totally blanked on that. No, we we we bet on Travis Hunter in August and our listeners got very Did you really?
Yeah. Because then we talked about it every single week non-stop. How good was guys? That was my one pre-season prop bet that I gave on my podcast. I was like, "Guys, I didn't give any other prop. I said 60 to1 Travis Hunter is an incredible bet right there and a value."
Yeah. And it hit and and then I got to vote for it. Is that is that bad? No, you say it and you just don't I mean, as long as you don't bet it.
No, you don't have I've never I've never bet. How about that? I've never bet a dollar on sports.
They're good for you. Um, so who do you I'll bet Greg Olsson that I'll beat him on the damn gauntlet.
Who do you can't believe he got to do it twice. Sorry. It was crazy he got to do it twice, but he's so good-looking. Uh, and you know, he just kind of he he wowed us.
He charmed you. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's fair. So, who who give me your three this year that you're looking at? My list is in no particular order. Mendoza, Julian Saiyan, I really like Ty Simpson, and I like Marcel Reed. And then
Jeremiah Love. I was just going to say the guy that is like gaining steam is Jeremiah Love.
I agree with that. Maybe because we bet that in August. Maybe. No, I don't think he has enough games left because he doesn't play a championship.
The problem is is not only it's the number of games, but it's the opponents because he doesn't have the opponents. Like Reed's going to get to play Texas. Everyone's going to watch that. saying and Mendoza are going to play each other. Simpson and um uh Reed may play in the SEC championship game. So, like they've got these marquee moments and matchups. I've always thought you needed stages to win. Like Mendoza last week, that was a stage and
greatness was required and he delivered greatness. That was incredible. Yeah, he's unflapable. He's It's crazy watching.
You know who he reminds me of is Kirk Cousins. Oh, okay. when I sit and just talk with him.
I've heard people throw out the and it's a bold one, but thrown out Tom Brady, which I I I know what I listen, I wasn't I'm saying other people have thrown out and then I watch him. I'm like, okay, I can see the way he moves in the pocket, the way he's, you know, decisive, accurate, and unflapable. You got to do a lot more to be Tom Brady. But I love his bounceback. Yeah,
cuz he's thrown some big interceptions and big moments like the the pick six against Oregon. If you if you guys don't know, he throws a pick six against Oregon late in that game and Oregon ties the game. Comes out next drive, drives right down the field, throws a touchdown pass. He throws that pick, it allows Penn State to go up and deep into that game in the fourth quarter, comes back, drives down the field, you know. So, I I love that aspect. And that does remind me of Brady. I'm talking about when I sit with him and in those production meetings,
he said three words and I was like, "Oh my gosh, this is Kurt Cousins." Do you think,
and I don't mean that in a bad way, I mean the best possible way. Yeah. Probably the nicest guy in the world.
Very nice. Do you think uh Julian's saying like, so we've been very high on Ohio State. We were I think the first to say that this year's team was better than last year's team. I think we said it in September. We might have been doing it as a bit, but it turned out to be true.
That happens to us sometimes. When a bit turns out, you know, great. But Julian saying like that the the one thing you could say about Ohio State this year, they have been so dominant. What happens when they're in that type of game, that situation where it's tight late and Mendoza's proven it? Do you have any reservations about Ohio State in those type of moments? Cuz they're going to be in those games in the playoffs.
I only have one reservation about Ohio State and and I don't know how great they are running the football.
Yeah, that's where they're not better than last year. Yeah, that's right. because those two backs were tremendous last year, Henderson and and Judkins. They had a a a moment of adversity when Penn State uh gets a fumble recovery right before half and scores. And so they have to go in at halftime and it's 1714. And that third quarter offensively was Carnell Tate, Jeremiah Smith, and Julian Saiyan. And that showed me a lot because it's like, okay,
when you're backed into a corner, you're gonna show me your actual blueprint. You're gonna show me exactly who you are. And they came out and just threw haymakers. And I'm like, that's the best passing game in the in America. Yeah. Um he he's so impressive with how quick his mind works and then his release and then his accuracy, guys. It's off the charts. Yeah. His accuracy. So, normally a guy that throws for 80%. Is going to throw like 80% of his passes at the line of scrimmage,
right? If you look at average yards of air yards per pass, he's in the top five in terms of throwing the football, you know, down the field in college football. So, to be at that percentage is is wild.
Yeah. And I I am a believer that Ohio State, the way that their schedule has, you know, they're so much better than these teams that they haven't had to fully unleash it. And I think there is a gear there that they're kind of not holding back intentionally, but you've seen flashes of it every now and then where they'll be like, "All right, we're just going to we're just going to do this right now. We're just going to score very quickly." And you know, Jeremiah is going to get it and then Carnell Tate and they have that game was like,
"Yeah, the Washington game where they kind of putts around and they're like, you know what, let's just hit the Jeremiah Smith button for a second." And I think that um and this might be like too deep, but I think that's uh Coach Day growing.
Yeah. Because I think there were times in the past that that he played games against the narrative and not against the opponent.
Every time against Michigan, you could argue that he he went on tyrate against Lou Holtz. Yeah, he tried to run the ball against Michigan last year
and and this year it feels very opposite and actually post Michigan last year it felt very o their run through the playoff it was like no this is who we are like come come and get it you know and and Tennessee got
got Oregon did you know um and this year it feels different they go up against Texas and it's like there was no there was no other opponent it's just like we're just going to win the game with a quarterback that's making his first start so guess what we're going to do not going to put him in a precarious a spot. We're going to win the football game with a great defense. And it's like, and that's fine because that's the point. They did the same thing against Washington. Those two games in particular, think about from their standpoint, they've got this quarterback
that is brand new. He's making his first start ever against what was at the time of the number one team in the country. So, they didn't put him in harm's way at all. Didn't try to put the game on his shoulders. His first start or excuse me his first road start ever was at Washington which at the time had the second longest home win streak in college football. So guess what they didn't do? Put the game on his shoulders. So to me it was strategic. Yeah,
you know and people are like well they didn't look this or that. I'm like no no no they kind of executed exactly what they wanted to in those moments
and now it all comes down to Michigan. Will he? It looks It looks like it like that's it's it's crazy that this rivalry has gotten to, you know, there's been points in history where the rivalry has been so great, but right now
it can't have been better than the last few years. I don't know how like I know the 10-year war and I know all of that history, but guys,
it's crazy. This has been and we I've gotten to call every one of them, right? This has been insane.
Insane. And and you c you can't script it better than Ohio State having a national championship team last year and still losing to Michigan.
Oh my gosh. It's crazy. I will tell you that's of all the games I've ever called. I took my headset off and I was like that didn't just happen.
I felt the same way. I was like, "No way." Yeah. I couldn't believe it. There was nothing in my prep. Nothing that I was like, "Well, they've got a chance here." Nothing.
Right. They couldn't pass. They couldn't throw the ball last year. They didn't really try to until late in the second half. And they're like, "Okay, we should do this stuff."
I missed in in that game specifically is is just how good those two defensive tackles actually were and what those two allowed them to do. And by the way, that Michigan team, if you take a look at the last five games of the season, they were the best defense in college football. They beat Ohio State, they beat Alabama, you know, they beat uh they hung with Indiana. like they were playing great offenses and they were still the number one defense in in the country. I definitely missed that leading into that game, but this one could be incredible cuz there's a really good chance. We'll see if Michigan can beat Northwestern this weekend and Wrigley,
you know, there's a solid chance that Michigan sitting there at nine and two and with a win
could get that last second to last spot in the college football playoff like this could be a monster as well.
Yeah. And so looking past that, it does feel like we're on an Indiana Ohio State collision course right now for the champ game.
Yeah. Yeah. So tell me about how those styles match up and what you see in them because I I keep going back and forth. I keep talking myself out of one side or the other, but what do you see in terms of like does Indiana feel like they've got the dudes this year. They've got the they've got the players.
Um so I don't know that it's going to be that lopsided. It will be lopsided a little bit in terms of talent, but they've they've closed the gap quite a bit. So what do you see happening? So, to beat Ohio State, I firmly believe you have to have great balance on offense. Cuz if you give that defense, as athletic as they are, a one-way go and you're just a passing team or you're just a running team, I think that they're too good for that. And so, because of that, one of the rare teams in the entire country that I think actually matches up well with Ohio State is Indiana because of their balance, because they can run the football five times. They've run it for over 300 yards. Um, now they didn't run it great against Penn State and that's the the recipe to beat Indiana is is slow down their run game, but Mendoza is also very good. So, they can throw the football, they can run the football. That's going
to make life difficult on what I think is the best defense in college football. And then on the opposite side, here's what I like this this idea of putting Julian saying in a pressure cooker, getting pressure to him, making him feel uncomfortable. No one's been able to do that, but Indiana rushes the passer as well as anybody and they do it in a unique way. And so because of the structures that they run on the defensive side, if I were to say of any team in the country, like what's the toughest matchup for Ohio State, it's Indiana.
And so I can't wait for that game. I hope that we get that game. Um I think Indiana is as as I think they can win a national championship. I really do. the the my question for them. I said the run game for Ohio State. My question is is health and injury because they haven't gotten to recruit like Ohio State or some of these other teams and build up class after class after class and have a bunch of depth. And so as and we saw it last week, Elijah Serat was down. They had a left guard that was down and they struggle a little bit. So if they're healthy, they're really good.
List the teams that can win the national championship this Ohio State, Indiana,
Texas A&M, Mhm. Georgia, Texas Tech, Oregon. So, no Bama. No, Bama. I know Bama fans already hate me, so it is what it is.
Yeah, just who cares? The Bama Here's the thing with Bama. I love what Alabama does throwing the football. They are not good enough elsewhere. So, they're going to run into a matchup that is not favorable for them and they will lose. That's just the way I feel about it. That's it's tried and true. NFL college, you cannot be onedimensional. And we've seen a few different times during the course of the year where Simpson has not been at his best versus Florida State, they lost. Second half against Georgia, they got pressure to him, they stagnated. Georgia almost came back and win. uh second half against LSU, they stagnated, you know, and now granted they LSU couldn't do anything on offense and they won those games, but that will come back to bite them at some point. Like if you put them up against Ohio State, sorry, like Bama's not winning that game
because Ohio State can focus on the passing game, right? What about So you mentioned a team Texas Tech, you've seen them live. I'm a big fan. Uh I do think defensively at least they definitely have the chops.
Totally. Do you trust their offense though in a hey, we got to beat three, four really, really good teams here?
You know, it's borderline. It's borderline. What I do appreciate about them is that they are balanced. So, they can run it. They can throw it. I think Baron Morton is a good and and part of this too is uh M. Leftwitch is their offensive coordinator. Young guy, not many people know who he is. Um I love what he does. It's one of those epiphanies where I'm like, hold on. This is a guy that is doing something totally different than anybody before him. So, here's what he's doing. You guys have heard of like the deep choice offense that Art Bryles ran and now Tennessee runs. Are you familiar with that? Okay.
And then you you've heard of of like the the Chip Kelly um Gus Melzon spread running attack, right? And like that that's a famous offense. And then you've got the traditional Mike Leachch Lincoln Riley air raid. Mack has married all three of those together and so he has elements of all three in his offense whereas like Tennessee is just a pure kind of deep choice offense and and all the others are fairly pure breed and he's got this he's got this mixture of an offense that allows him to have answers.
It's one of the reasons I think that they're they've got a a shot and that defense is really good.
Yeah. Yeah. I'm I'm high on Texas Tech and it's also you know you cover you do a lot of Big 12 games as well. There is always going to be a perception of a Big 12 team not being good enough. Yeah. And it's like, but Arizona State took Texas to the limit.
I was gonna say Texas, what was it? Fourth and 13 last like they were dead in the water.
Yeah. Um I listen, Texas Tech is is a heck of a team. I'm I'm secretly hoping they don't get one of the buys cuz I want to see somebody have to go down there and play in that everywhere.
Yeah. What's going on with the tortillas? The controversy. It's been banned, but they still do it. Are people sneaking tortillas into games? And if so, how how are you sneaking the tortillas into the games?
I have no idea. I have no idea. I don't know why we would ban something like this.
Yeah, it seems like the definition of what makes college football different than the NFL.
That's right. Let's lean into that. Let's lean into our differences, our tribalism, our traditions.
I'm into that. You also didn't mention Notre Dame. Yeah. You think they are? I I think Notre Dame is I don't know if they can win the national championship, but they are very good and I think people have the perception in the games they played at the beginning of the season are very different than what they are now in terms of defensively.
Totally agree with that. I think they are elite running the football elite. And so it would take a really strong defense just to stop that. My my concern is is that even in a win, CJ Carr played so bad against USC and I'm like, hold on a second. Like, what happens when he sees Ohio State or when he sees Cashes How from Texas A&M? I know that they already played. They lost that game, you know? So, they've they've played their two toughest opponents and lost. And to me, like that's that's why I don't include Oregon's still in there. I like that
Oregon is still in there. And I know that that same ex, you know, you could say like, hey, their toughest opponent, they lost to Indiana. There's something about that roster. So, here's another thing. In the last four years,
um, the team that has the most draft picks wins the national championship. And if you look at like some of these top 50 lists or I start to compile my top 50 and top 60 players in the draft, the top two are Ohio State and Oregon. And it's like so they that's why I include them. It's because I'm like they have the top end talent now. They're young in a lot of areas but and I'm just Dan Landing is dude that that guy is a war daddy like he's going to win a national champ. War daddy's good. I I followup question Mr. Clatt uh PFD commentary here from part of my take. Do you think that maybe the reason why the last four teams that have won championships have more draft picks is because they won national championships and then they're seen
in a national championship game performing, making plays and then NFL scouts are like, I love that guy.
Yes, you got to have players play really well to win the national championship. If players play well, they're going to be sked scouted more favorably. Y
so yes to answer your question um those teams even before the season though you would have said like hey that's that team's littered with NFL talent.
Um here's a great example of of that. uh a guy in the 23 Michigan team that before the year wasn't mentioned as like a real elite NFL prospect and by the end after he they played Alabama and Nick Sabin and and Washington and win the national championship Mike
Sean still he was like the talk of the scouting universe and it's like man this guy is incredible he was the whole key to the defense and I think that's that speaks to your point that it's like the the players developing into that make them national champions. I think that that's that's probably correct.
He's a great player. Awesome. Mikey, um I got a question about your career as an athlete. So, you were
we talked about a little bit on the act, but you were baseball player first and you got drafted
11th round Padres's tried out. How many years did you try out for or were you trying to actually
I was in the minor leagues for three three seasons. Okay. And then what was the highest level you got to? I played I told that story. I played one week of like AAA spring training and then really just like single A ball.
Okay. So played a couple of double A games in spring training, but yeah, that was kind of it.
You actually we need to tell the Ricky Henderson story again cuz PF here. Yeah. Yeah. You such a great one. It's a great one. We got to sell it.
This is um my best story from minor league. There are there are I'm I need to write a book, but this one is the best. So, um, rest in peace Sean Burroughs was a third baseman for the AAA team, uh, with the San Diego Padres's, and I was a third baseman on the lower levels, um, in in the minor leagues. And
if a guy gets hurt or a sore sore arm or something in spring training, it's just like, hey, like, go fill in for him. You know, there's just very little structure. And so Shawn Burroughs was was banged up and he needed like four or five days off. And they were just like, "Hey, Clatt, like go take Sean's spot in the lineup and play with the AAA team for the next four or five days." I'm like, "Great." You know, that's awesome. So the next day, Ricky Henderson gets signed by the Padres's to a minor league contract, and he's 41, I think, at the time, maybe 42. And Shawn Burroughs played third, hits second on the AAA team. And Ricky Henderson signs the AAA contract. Where do you think he hits?
Lead off. So here I am. I'm sitting in the two-hole behind Ricky Henderson out on the like the outer field. This isn't even in the stadium. These are these outer fields out there in spring training in Poria, Arizona. And I'm just like in awe. Like there's Ricky Henderson. My goodness. And so I'm sitting there and I would be getting into the on deck circle and he'd be walking up to the plate, you know, and he'd be tapping his toes and doing his little shuffle even for no fans, right? Still doing his shuffle. And he'd turn around and he'd say, "Three."
And I'd be like, "What?" Look around like, "What? What is he talking about?" I didn't know what he's Next step back. Two. Take his step out. I'm like, "What in the world is going on?" But in my mind, all I could think about is the 80s Bash Brothers. Yeah.
And I'm like, man, I have to hit a home run so that Ricky's waiting for me at home home plate and I'm going to be coming in hot. Just be like, bam. Yeah. Give him the Bash Brothers right there. Feel like I'm Meuire Conco, you know, like let's go.
Yeah. So, I am swinging from the heels on every pitch that's even remotely close to the zone. I don't care. Slider, you bet. Splitty. Let's go. I'm hitting this thing out, right? Just every at bat. Four, three, two days of this, three days of this, I'm like, I can't take it anymore. I have no idea what this guy is talking about. He's talking to himself when he gets He's talking to the third person. What is happening? So, I ask our manager, Jeff Gardner. I'm like, "Skip,
why in the hell does Ricky keep telling me a number before he goes up to bat?" And he's like, "Um, son, that's how many pitches he expects you to take so he can steal second."
That's great. Oh, so good. I love that. So good. And I I do love how he was a big third person guy. Yeah, you've been missing person. He was the best I've ever heard.
Did he do third person in front of you? All the time. I never heard him say anything other than third. He So, he would get to first and again I always say like these are the back fields. There's nobody there, guys. This is like quieter than beer league softball, right? Like there's no there's no moms in the there's no there's nobody there. There's no wives in the stands. And so he would get to first and he would I want to almost get up, you know, he would do his little like shuffle and tap his toes, you know, and and he would be on and we could hear him talking to himself leading off first. Ricky gets on
and we'd all look over and be like, "Is he like, yeah, yeah, he's talking." And then you would hear him say like, "Ricky steals bags." It was unbelievable. I love that. That's so good. We desperately need a new third person guy. We haven't We haven't had one of those in a while.
We We really do. So So I I brought up this whole baseball thing because you then What was the decision? Was there a moment where you're like, "All right, this is clearly not going to work." And then most guys, a specific moment
who do that go to play another sport, they don't have success in the other sport. You then go and start for three years at Colorado as a quarterback. Like how did that how did that all go down? So Mark Prior,
yeah, you remember? Perfect. Perfect delivery. Perfect delivery. Yeah. Smooth calves the size of a gumball machine. Just like massive calves.
Mhm. He's rehabbing. This is like height of Mark Prior. This is 01 02, right? Like he and Carrie Wood are like the guys.
Remember they were always injured. Yeah. And so he comes down to Mesa, Arizona for an extended spring rehab start and lo and behold, the extended spring poria Padres's roll into town. So we drive over to Mesa to play the Cubs and my career is not going great. My lifestyle is not great. I'm like, what am I doing? You know, like I hate to say this, but like baseball, they are not educated folks in the sport of baseball. And I'm looking around and I'm like, "This ain't the life, you know, for me." So, we go over to Mesa and we're facing Mark Prior again, sidefield, and Mark Prior's pitching. And then we find out like, oh yeah, it's a rehab start. He's throwing 60 fast balls. He's not even throwing off speed. So, like, he's out here just to throw fast balls and like they don't care. And I'm like, I'm a fast ball hitter. This is great. I can't wait. And this dude gets up there and gives us that perfect delivery and it's nice and
smooth and it looks like he's throwing the ball 27 miles an hour. It's just like effortless. And then the ball looks like an Acme rocket comes out of the back and then just goes like and so I'm sitting up there know he's throwing a fast ball. I feel like I'm a fastball hitter. I barely had my foot down and the ball hits the glove and I was like I need to quit. Oh man,
that was it. I struck out on three fast balls, swung through two of them, I walked back to the dugout and I was like, I think I need to go to college.
That's that's incredible. So that was the moment. So when I go back, I quit baseball, went back to to Colorado. And to be honest, like I said, it was about education and and lifestyle. I just needed to get out of minor league baseball. I needed to get an education. And I walked on at Colorado because of that. And lo and behold, it was like
it worked out. I don't know how else to explain it. worked out. How awesome was it being the quarterback at Colorado?
It was phenomenal. I grew up there and so that was my team growing up. This is why I went back. I thought it would be amazing just to run out behind Ralphie, you know, cuz my dad had taken me to those games my whole life.
Um and then to be the quarterback. I man, it was it was a dream come true. There's no doubt. Um although after you know in college they don't love like career quarterbacks. So once you're a thirdyear quarterback at a at a college, the fan base is like, "Okay, I think we're done with him. Who's who's the shiny new object?"
Um, so the end of my career didn't end all that great, but it was an unbelievable time. I loved it.
I have to imagine that's a school that it is uh exceptionally cool to be like a star athlete at.
It was great. It's a beautiful place. It was great. And and my So when I come back, I'm older now, right? So, I'm 21 and my first year as a starter, me and a teammate of mine who I had played against in high school and he he also kind of walked on late and so we go back but then we just lived with three guys that didn't play.
Mhm. And we lived in this house like right on the hill right up from the univer 8331 18th Street. I really hope someone's living there that that listens to this.
Yeah, it was the best house. I lived in the room in the basement. Uh my roommate had a six-foot python that got out, didn't find him for six months. Like it was quintessential college house. But what would happen is our roommates would be in the stands and they would take our jerseys that like we had gotten from previous seasons, like our actual jerseys, and wear them in the stands. They would take them out of our closets, wear them in the stands, and then just invite everyone back to the house. So we would get home from games and it was packed right like our house and there would just be people all over the place in our bedrooms all over. It was it was wild.
And it also was Colorado before, you know, little down, you know, the football program in the last
15 years before Dion got there, but you guys were still living off the 90s where it's like Colorado football was
we had won the Big 12 championship in 2001 and then played for it in 02 and 04 and '05. And so like we we were okay. The problem is [clears throat] '05 was my senior year. We played Texas twice, Vince Young's Texas team. Once in Austin and then again in the Big 12 championship game down in Houston.
Mhm. And they beat us 70 to three. It's tough way to 70 to3. Yeah, bro. And then we were like, I I should probably
They covered try to broadcast. How did you decide to get into broadcasting? Because it feels like by chance
you've got the voice for it. Like did you always have that voice? No. Oh, I, you know, tried to smoke eight packs of marbles. No, I'm kidding. Um, I got into it by chance actually. I thought I would always be a coach or go into like investment banking. And so I was I was doing that. I was doing investment banking after college. And I was working for this REIT uh real estate investment trust in Denver. And there was a high school football uh package of games on the local Fox Sports Rocky Mountain back in the day. Do you remember Alfred Williams? the defensive player for the Broncos.
It sounds familiar. Okay. So, Alfred was the analyst for this high school football package and Alfred got sick one night. So, he said, I don't think he wanted to go call the high school football game. And the network called me because they knew I was back. I had just been released from the Lions. And they were like, "Hey, will you do a high school football game?" And I and I said no. And then they begged me to do it and said they'd give me 200 bucks. And so, I went and did it. And that's literally how my broadcasting career started. That's incredible.
And you were just like, were you good at it from the start or if you went back?
Executive grabbed me after the game. His name was Ken Miller. And Ken I owe my entire career to Ken cuz he said, "Hey, you were really good. I'm going to give you three more." And I told him no. And I was like, "Well, this is not what I want to do. This is not what I do. I'm I'm a I'm a banker." And he was like, "No, you're not." So he gave me three more. And then he started putting me on other things. And then he sent the tape, unbeknownst to me, to Fox Sports Southwest. And all of a sudden, they put me on the Big 12 studio show.
And then the real estate market crashes in ' 07 and I lost my job, my real job. And my wife, thankfully, she's amazing. Sarah Clatt, she came to me and she she said, "Hey, I just got this pharmaceutical sales job. It covers us. Try to make it work. Try to make a broadcasting work." So, I got this like low rent radio show in Denver and started doing radio and and TV and just started working my way up.
That's awesome. That's great. Yeah. Yeah. Um, all right. This has been awesome, Joel. We we love having you on. Uh, you're now a recurring guest, so you have to come back on.
I would love to. Yes, we will definitely get you in the rotation. This is like the Super Bowl of podcasts.
I don't know about that, guys. I feel very honored. Thank you for having me. Though, the key to how this works is we got to always pretend we're just talking to no one. That's a good point. Yeah. I think uh being in the in the podcast space uh I very much ad admire what you guys do. You guys do a great job.
I appreciate that. Yeah. But uh I got one last question. Robback question. Rhoback.com promo code take. 20% off your first purchase. QZips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts. Roback.com promo code take. How many times do people call you Joe?
Oh my gosh. It's got to be endless. Yeah. In the comments section, my nephew's name is Joe. Oh, that's so he's like in
Is he a clat? Yeah. You can't do that. Brother, talk to my brother. Jason, you he can't do that.
I love Joe. That's Yeah. Yeah. But you can't Joe's the man. That's too similar.
I I don't know what to tell you. I don't uh they call all the time. And it's not just that they call me that, they type it in the comments.
Yeah. I'm Joe in the comments like crazy. Just roll with it. That's all. No, they're actually talking [ __ ] about your nephew.
Hey, don't you dare. JOE CLATT IS A SAINT. HE'S GOING TO GET all Your nephew is now going to live a life where he just gets all the hate online. Because if someone's calling you Joe Clatt, I'd imagine 100% of the time they're mad at you
probably. Cuz if they know who you are, funniest though is when they're very complimentary and use Joe and it's like,
"Yeah, okay. All right, cool. I'm in. I'll pass this along to my nephew." That's right. He's going to be fired up about this.
Yeah. Wait. Oh, last thing. Uh, do you think Northwestern has a shot on Saturday? So, we're doing big noon kickoff. You're calling the game.
Yeah. Can't wait for you guys to be out there at Wrigleyville. It's going to be awesome. It's going to be so
um Yes, Northwestern. By the way, David Bronn's done a heck of a job. They're like the quintessential Pat Fitzgerald Northwestern Wildcats where they run the ball. Caleb Koma is a really good player. They their defense probably plays a little bit better than their skill, although their skill is very good. I I think Michigan will have some trouble with Northwestern. Yeah. Because they're not going to beat themselves.
Yeah. I'm I I'm at a point now because I I went to Wisconsin and the Badgers have had a little tough run here where I'm like jealous of
How about the win last week? Good to win one. Good to win one. Brought Jed Fish in there and spanked him around.
Our our leading pastor was our punter. Why not? Why not? Why not? Why not us? probably because we're going to lose by about 50 to Indiana. I hope I just want Kurt Signetti to just take it easy.
He will not. Well, no, there's a couple times he's taking a little easy has zero chill.
Here's the thing, though. And I'm here for it. No, but there are certain coaches like I think him and Bumma got into it a little bit in the summer. And I think that's where, you know, like if you get if you poke him,
I think Luke is on his good side. I think he might be like, "Hey, he's going through some tough stuff. We're not going to." But if you if you poke him a little, he will remember it and go after it.
He'll get after it. Yeah. So, I love that guy. I'm hoping that maybe Kurt Signetti, I think you're a great coach. Just take it easy man.
Look at you buttering him up. Take it easy. That's wild. I feel like he's just constantly in build the resume season. Like he he knows like it's all it's style points, but it's like violent style points that he's putting up on everybody.
It's it is it is absolutely the the underdog respect me now. Yeah. Mentality. Did you call the UCLA Indiana game? Yeah. Was there any confusion when Albert Mendoza came in?
No. I loved that so much because there were so many people online like look at look at Signetti and Indiana running up the score with their starting quarterback still in.
Yeah, cuz they both It's like Alberto. Yeah, they wear Fernando's running around the sideline so hyped. It was great.
So he comes into our our next production meeting. I'm talking to Fernando and he was and all he could talk about is Alberto and he's like, "You guys know we we lived in bunk beds, right?" And we're like, we get it, man. Like full step brothers mode. DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?
Did you guys know that USC had a a trick with their third string quarterback and their punter?
Yeah, that ain't legal. Yeah, they didn't tell you about that. They didn't let you guys know about that in the production meeting, I bet.
Well, I didn't call that game. And when we did call USC, they did not tell us about that. They also didn't tell us that their wide receiver was going to play.
Yeah, but don't worry. I'm not upset about it. I'm not remembering facts, though. All right. Well, Joel, thanks so much.

Um just uh one thing maybe we should look into at some point. Maybe Morgan and Morgan can help protect us before Hank hires them. You can check them out at forthepeople.com/pmt. That's fthepeople.com/pmt. Okay, boys. Let's wrap up the show. Firefest of the week. Hank,
nothing crazy. Hank got us all sick. I'm sick. Yeah, I'm sick. I feel bad. I feel like I'm going to get everyone sick. Although, I heard it's going around the office. It wasn't just me. There's been
You also timed it so that we're going to PFC and I are going to get sick either like for football or maybe even Thanksgiving. You [ __ ] us.
Oh, you're you're putting me being a little bit sick on Tuesday. A little sick.
Yeah. I mean, you were you were down bad Hank. I was down bad. Sneezing all over us. Um, yeah. I don't know what you want me to do. It's a weird weird job we have where it's like I kind of have to come in. I could have not come in and you guys would have shamed me for not coming in.
No, if you're sick, stay home. But then if I didn't come in, I would have been on this podcast getting roasted.
I did zero shame on Wednesday. You texted me and said, "I'm going to try to come in for advisors or said do not come in."
Did you hear how good Zach was on the couch though? Oh, that was that was But can you at least Did you hear about that?
I watched it. Yeah. I mean, every time we do the game, whoa, whoa, whoa. That wasn't even when I was sick. I was doing other work.
No, no, no. But that has nothing to do with it. Every time we do the show, I have to remind you to get the game time for for a game. We've been doing it for months where the game is at the start of the show.
Have you tried not reminding me and seeing what happens? Yes. There's been multiple times where I've looked at you and you just haven't had a game. Zap locked and loaded.
So, you're saying you didn't remind him at all? I did not remind him at all. That's [ __ ]
I didn't [ __ ] that you you go out of your way to remind me. It's like you don't give like it's like if you didn't remind me no more reminders go Zach was locked in
like you're like oh I told I do something and then and I also don't believe you didn't remind him but that doesn't matter. Oh no it was no reminding and Zach was on the couch and he was fired up to do the ad.
Max was shaking his head. No, I'm shaking my head at you. He didn't remind me. Yeah, I pointed at my phone and he was like what? And then I was like I think I said we need a game and he just ripped it off. No reminder before. Zach comes prepared with everything at any at like every moment.
Yes. Every interview we do showing up to the podcast. UM, fair point. Got him. He's got Now, Zach got you.
Yeah, it's fine. He did a good job. Okay. He did a great job. Great job. I like seeing you there, though.
No, you don't. I do. I like you so much, Hank. I made a doll out of you. Yeah, that was actually gonna be my firefest.
My firefest. My firefest is that my my boy Hank, my brother, he doesn't like the doll that we made from that.
My dog is obsessed with this toy. I I swear to God, it hasn't left it hasn't left her side since I gave it to her.
It's the best. Like I woke up this morning and she jumped into bed and just I just woke up with the Hank doll just in my bed because she was just playing with it.
Something about the Hank toy. Every everywhere she goes, she brings that toy. Got home from work yesterday. Blake sprints down the stairs with Hank in his mouth.
What are you doing, Hank? What did you just text? Nothing. It's a great It's a great toy. Not just for dogs either. Like a kid,
everyone. Anyone? It's great. Grand. What did you just do? Nothing. Don't worry about it.
You started talking about you just picked up your phone and text. Don't worry about it.
Okay. It's a fantastic toy. The Hank Toy is a good toy and I can't Black Friday people.
I'm excited for the people. Going to sell. So, I think it's going to sell. It's going to Oh my god. There. I actually wish we we had like a a a store because it would be it would be like early 2000's new Xbox waiting people waiting in line for three nights black Friday [ __ ]
Do you think it'll be car stick? Yeah. Oh, I think it's going to be the smash car sticks are limited editions. They're so this is also limited edition.
So then it doesn't How can you type beat? Well, opening car sticks sell out. Black Friday I've
Black Friday. We also didn't do this amount of promotion for car sick. We did an entire we did podcast about it. We had a gra like animation about it. It was one of our first viral clips.
Yeah, that was before we sold it. Yeah, I know. Yeah. So, it had it had like a year of promotion built into it.
We just showed people a doll of view and it's just like they're going [ __ ] we're it's they're going bananas.
I can't wait for the first AWL that that gets it and then sends us a video of their dog humping Hank.
Oh, yeah. We're going to have to put a limit because there's so many people that are like, "Can I like what is the maximum amount of these that I could buy?" Like, it might be the one thing that people just
are going to want to buy all of them at once. And then people are going to like take them on vacation with him and we'll get to see Hank at the Eiffel Tower.
Little Hank at the pyramids. Oh, yeah. Our request to make one with a hole in its mouth.
Oh, I'm down for that. That's where That's where I draw the line. Was that Was that for memes? Also, I was sick and they just desecrated my desk area. Memes did.
Oh, no. What do you keep texting? Don't worry about it. We tape Lil Hank to the wall.
Okay. Yeah. I want to do Lil Hank videos like Lil Penny. Mhm. From back in the day. RP the penny by the way. Not Penny Hardway, but the coin. Um maybe get maybe Ara's voice for Hank for Lil Hank.
That'd be a good one. Just think about it. Everyone go by. All right. Hank, you're going to be a superstar.
PFT. You are a superstar, Hank. Uh, I've actually I've had a pretty good week. Nothing really that I would consider to be a firefest except for the fact that I've put something off for a very long time that I have to now address.
Uh, got to put the El Camino up for the winter time. Right when you got the Right. When I got the mullet, I actually had
You may have to wait a little bit. Why? They You could put it up for the winter time, but they ads ask if they could they could do an ad for
Oh, look at that. Okay. Yeah. All right. Well, pimped out. Listen. Yeah, that just extended a little bit more.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You could extend it a little bit more. Okay. I like that a lot because I've been I've been putting it off for a while and then it it finally snowed and it's like, okay, now I got to wait for the snow to melt. Now I got to I'm going to try to park it in the office again. But now we got two Vanny Woodheads that are in the loading bay. So, we might have to rearrange those so I can keep the El Camino in there. But, uh, yeah, it's it's a a a bitter time of year with the El Camino. Max is right. Great summer. Clean summer. Started every single time. didn't break down. It's so back. That thing is is so back. We got one healthy year under its belt. Next season, we're going to come in with all the expectations and nothing's going to go wrong.
Super Bowl season for the El Camino. This was the year before the year. Yeah, I loved it.
I love it. Okay, Zach. I don't I had a My Fire is that Hank has a a toy after him. He doesn't like it.
I thought he would love it. I would absolutely love it if there was a TFT action figure. And also my I'm two for two on successfully doing the tooth fairy, but I forgot my son is scared of the tooth fairy. Kind of lame by him, but whatever. So when the tooth fairy when he lost the tooth and tooth fairy came, he came in at like three in the morning and was like I had to like he came in multiple times. Tooth fairy, I don't know. I'm kind of done with the tooth fairy, but I am awesome at it. Two for two. 10 singles this time.
That's pretty [snorts] good. Yeah, it was pretty. He was pumped. He was like, I got I like what'd you get? like $1, but 10 of them. It's like [ __ ] yes.
That feels like way more money to to a kid than if you gave him like a $100 bill. Yeah.
