What this episode is about

Federal agents in Minneapolis shot and killed a 37-year-old man, Alex Pretti, following a confrontation where multiple agents wrestled him to the ground. Witness footage reveals that, while he appeared to be helping a protester, agents pepper-sprayed him before firing at least ten shots as he lay on the ground, raising serious concerns about the use of force and the training of federal law enforcement.

Key takeaways

  • When federal agents turn into 'cowboy thugs,' even safety is compromised, raising questions about accountability.
  • Pepper spray and bullets shouldn’t be the standard approach for community policing; where's the training?
  • Labeling victims as 'terrorists' echoes authoritarian regimes, leaving citizens in a state of fear and distrust.
  • In America, if apprehending a felon means executing citizens, we may need to re-evaluate our methods.
  • Demanding an end to violent ICE operations isn't just a call for safety—it's a plea for humanity.

Okay, Tommy. Um, federal agents have uh killed another American citizen in Minneapolis, a 37year-old man who uh border patrol wrestled to the ground, hit with an object, and then shot at least 10 times while he was still on the ground. Um, here's the clearest video yet. There's a couple different angles. This is from a witness uh who was right there, and it was just posted uh by Drop Site News. Let's play it.

And see that's the man with the brown coat. That's the man that it seems like these ICE agents attack them.

Yes, there's the man right who gets killed right there in the middle of the street. So there he is in the middle of the street

and all he's got is his phone. What the What the is wrong with you? ICE attacks that person.

Pepper sprays them. And there he is. And he appears to be pulling a protester off the ground there.

He's trying to help the protester who is on the ground. What the people? The is wrong with you?

Honestly. THE DID YOU JUST DO? WHAT THE DID YOU JUST DO? WHAT THE So sickening. Um, so the New York Times just posted uh they um they analyzed that video and a bunch of other videos frame by frame. And I I think this is a helpful description and then maybe you can just react to what you saw. Says, "Several agents tussled with the man before bringing him to his knees. The man appears to resist as the agents grab his legs, push down on his back, strike him repeatedly. The footage shows an agent approaching and grabbing at the man as the others hold him down. The agent appears to pull a gun from among the group. Simultaneously, another agent unholsters his firearm. The agent aims at the man's back and appears to fire one shot at close range. He then appears to continue firing at the man who collapses. A third agent unholsters his weapon. Both agents appear to fire additional shots at the man as he lies

motionless on the ground. In total, at least 10 shots. Yeah. I mean, these people are wildly untrained. They're unprofessional. They're the most trigger-happy group of cowboy thug monsters I've ever seen. They're clearly making the streets of Minneapolis less safe. And it is it's it's horrifying to watch this because you can see in that video, look, we don't know everything that happened beforehand, that everything happened afterwards obviously. But what it appears is that these people are filming ICE operations. You can hear whistles being blown, which is, you know, a signal to the community that ICE is coming. Uh, and they're trying to, you know, warn people. And this man's filming, and you can see an ICE guy runs, or CBP, whoever it was, runs over to a protester who's like just barely on the street, shoves the person uh to the ground, and then starts pepper- spraying them in the face. And it looks like the

man who was ultimately executed by these ICE or CBP thugs, I don't know if it's ICE or CBP. Do you know, John?

I think it's Border Patrol. It's Border Patrol. These Border Patrol thugs who are, by the way, responsible for some of the worst abuses. Um, start beating them and pushing them down. Uh, and then this man, you know, he may have had a gun obviously like that that changes the risk level for these officers in a situation, but there are three, four, five people, large men on top of this guy, and there's others right in the area. The idea that anyone was at risk in this moment besides the protesters who are being beaten and pepper-sprayed and thrown to the ground and attacked by these guys who were ostensibly sent to protect the community. It is like it is I mean it is one of the most shocking things I've ever seen. And you know like once again Steven Miller is out already with a tweet calling this person a domestic terrorist. And you know where this happens?

Putin's Russia. That's where that's where this happens. mass federal agents go to your community. They execute you and then they say you were a terrorist and that you deserved it. That's where we're living right now. Right. That that is what is happening right now. This is absolutely lawless dictatorship police state like a nightmare. This is this is Alex Jones's fever dream of what like a law enforcement crackdown could look like. Come to life. And it is absolutely horrifying. And people in Minnesota are just begging like please just leave us alone. Get out of here.

You're you're killing our community. And like Steven Miller's basically just leaning in calling this guy a terrorist once again.

And DHS is also saying well the border patrol they were engaged. They were trying to find an illegal alien who was wanted for violent crimes. And it's like, no, if you wanted to do that, that's not the there's there's DHS agents, federal agents, CPB, border border patrol, ICE, everywhere all over the streets. All over the streets, like militarized occupation. That's not how to carry out a operation to to to apprehend an undocumented immigrant. There's ways to carry out that operation. We've seen it for decades now, and this is not how to do it. Um, you mentioned

cops arrest people all the time without executing American citizens in the process. I if if your if your goal is to reduce the risk to citizens of this country by removing some felon who you say is here illegally if the process to do so requires executing American citizens, whether it's Renee Good or this individual who was just massacred today or killed today, like you're not doing the job right. This is not the goal here. Um, let's talk about the the the response. Uh, Governor Walls said he spoke at the White House and has demanded that this operation end. Um, Jacob Fry, Amy Cloloar, other Minnesota officials are calling on the operation to end. Steven Miller has now blamed everyone who's calling on the operation to end to help. that he's saying that they have caused this this killing that he also is lying and saying that the man was a domestic terrorist as you said who tried to assassinate these officers

which everyone can see is not true. No matter what the details are, no matter other angles, whatever, it's clear that this man was not a domestic terrorist trying to assassinate the agents. Anyone can see that from the video. But um we're going to watch a video from um these the Minnesota officials held a press conference sort of responding to this. This is uh police chief Brian O'Hara. But I think the video speaks for itself. What I can tell you uh is we have identified this person, 37year-old white male, resident of the city. The only interaction that we are aware of with law enforcement has been for traffic tickets. Uh and we believe he is a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.

Initially, some information was relayed to me uh over the radio that we were our officers were told that they were either not needed or could leave. and I gave a direct order to ensure that Minneapolis police maintain the scene as well as other state and local law enforcement. Our demand today is for those federal agencies that are operating in our city to do so with the same discipline, humanity, and integrity that effective law enforcement in this country demands. We urge everyone to remain peaceful. We recognize that there is a lot of anger and a lot of questions around what has happened.

But we need people to remain peaceful. What he said there, and the Tribune, Star Tribune in Minneapolis reported this as well, is the feds tried to push local police away because they didn't want them to investigate the crime scene. The Tribune also reported that ICE transported several witnesses to the crime to detention. So now they are they are locking up the witnesses, telling the local police to go away because I just saw um NBC News just reported that uh DHS will be investigating this, not the FBI. Um the uh there's also witnesses and reports that um as the after uh this this man was killed and protesters started screaming um one of the federal agents who was involved uh turned to the mall and said, "Boohoo."

Yeah. So that's where we are now. So yeah, right now the official uh response from uh people who execute Americans is either or boohoo. That's what we've heard from, you know, the shooters or the people around them. Look, the the police chief there, uh O'Hara, I think it's Brian O'Hara, um was uh recently interviewed on the Daily, the New York Times podcast, The Daily, uh after the Renee Good shooting. and he I believe was brought in after uh the murder of George Floyd and the subsequent uh protests and and violence and uh that that summer and he talked about all the work that had been done by the police force in Minneapolis to rebuild trust and relationships with the community and how concerned he was that the ICE presidents, the CBP presidents, the federal agents in the in town were going to just rip apart the community all over again and destroy all the work they' done and all the work that was actually

keeping people safer and that had gotten the murder rate down. Um, everything he talked about in that interview, everything he was concerned about is coming to light. His community is getting attacked. His police officers are getting racially profiled by ICE agents themselves. Um, protesters are flooding to the streets in six degree weather because they are so scared and outraged and furious about what is happening. Like Donald Trump is making Minneapolis less safe. It is by design. This is what Steven Miller wants. He wants to kill you and then call you a terrorist to further his political project. This is horrifying. This hopefully this video should be a wakeup call to every single person who has not been paying attention. Like the if the Renee Good shooting wasn't clear enough that you know she was just executed when this ICE agent was no longer in harm's way. Like I you cannot watch that video

and tell me that four guys, five guys, six guys couldn't have secured that scene without firing 10 bullets from two different people into that man's body when he was on the ground. It's pretty clear that the agent um if you if you watch another angle of the video, the agent sort of emerges from the scrum and the New York Times reported this too with a gun. It does match the gun that they think was the man's gun who was assassinated, which means that they disarmed him before shooting him 10 times

after bashing him in the face with what looked like either a a can of something or a gun another gun like pistol whipping him with something.

Um the right after uh O'Hara spoke there, they brought on the um the city's emergency management director uh who has been dealing with all of this uh chaos and um she said it was it was pretty astounding. She says uh her background is in international humanitarian response in conflict zones in Yemen, Haiti, Syria, Iraq, and Ukraine. And she said, "What I've seen here is what I've seen there, a powerful entity violently and intentionally terrorizing people." That is the city's emergency management director. Um the um the the last clip we have is just immediately after the shooting, obviously protesters and just citizens in the street are terrified.

They're screaming and as opposed to trying to calm the situation, um, ICE, Border Patrol, whoever, all the federal agents there continue to try to brutalize people who are witnessing this murder. So, let's watch.

I HAVE DONE NOTHING AT ALL. MY NAME IS MATTHEW JAMES ALLEN. GET OFF ME. I'M A UNITED STATES CITIZEN. YOU'RE GOING TO KILL ME.

THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT. YOU WANT TO KILL ME. LET IT OUT. Let it out. LET IT OUT. PLEASE. SARAH.

SARAH. WE'RE WITH YOU. SARAH. ALAN. PLEASE. THAT'S MY HUSBAND. MATT ALAN. OKAY.

We were just running away from the gas. THAT'S ALL WE WERE DOING. WHERE IS he right now?

He's being arrested by Okay, we're going to take care. We're going to take care. We're going to take care of them.

Jesus Christ. Just uh it's horrifying. What's the point? What's the point of being an American citizen if that's how you get treated? I mean,

okay, we have a man a name now from about who the man was. His name was um Alex Prey uh who was murdered. Um uh I'm just like sort of watching this unfold here. Uh the uh wall says um that they're going to uh make sure that they try to find all the evidence and and categor and and catalog all the evidence to make sure they can do their own investigation. This is just wild

Yeah. I mean, look, you we're recording this at 11:40 a.m. uh Pacific time, so you know, there's going to be a lot that comes out in the next few hours. Um, I think what we've seen is federal agents invade a city for for purely political reasons. There's absolutely no reason that Minneapolis of all places needed the largest ICE deployment in US history. It was entirely because the White House saw a political benefit to exploiting tensions in the Somali community after that viral video about some of these fraud allegations that by the way had already been reported on, had already been prosecuted and was really, really bad, but something you clean up and deal with without a massive ICE deployment. And now what you have is this ICE invasion uh and the execution of multiple American citizens solely because of their presence. They are making people less safe. They are killing American citizens. You know,

more people are going to pour out into the streets. And I think the question is like when when do we all just have to pour out into the streets? When when is there a mass nationwide mobilization because of this? Because you are seeing people get radicalized in real time. And I'm not just talking about people on the streets. you were seeing politicians, you know, like I think, you know, um James Tarico was tweeting about this, you know, like Amy Clolobachar, like people who are were not chanting, you know, abolish ICE 5 years ago on the streets being like this has to stop.

This agency is out of control. To your point earlier, John, I mean, they these people didn't know the name of this man before they were calling him a domestic terrorist. and the border patrol union uh tweeted out a statement attacking the media, attacking the media for their untrained thugs murdering people. So these are like lawless people acting with impunity. They are not going to stop unless there's a mass mobilization and a political movement to stop them. Donald Trump needs to see that there is a massive political cost to this. So do other Republicans and there's they're not there yet. The tone has changed um from Trump personally when talking about Renee Good, but he has not backed this off yet. Steven Miller is still running the show and he's going to wants to kill you and call you a domestic terrorist.

That's how that's how he views the world. I Yeah, I got a I get a text from a a friend when this unfolded who's just like, "Why aren't why isn't every Democrat uh official on the ground in Minnesota right now on the ground in Portland trying to like stand up when I doing this?" like like everyone in the party right now who's an elected official should be out there. Um so we have a um we have a response from Donald Trump. Uh truth I'll just I have not read it yet so we can both react at the same time. Uh he posts a picture of the gun uh that DHS had taken a picture of the gun that was on the man. Allegedly uh DHS then leaked this to their favorite propagandist at Fox um who does all their immigration propaganda for them. Um, and so Trump posted the picture of the gun, which is just sitting on a on a on a a seat in a car.

Uh, this is the gunman's gun loaded with two additional full magazines and ready to go. What is that all about? Where are the local police? Why weren't they allowed to protect ICE officers? The mayor and the government called them off. It is stated that many of these police were not allowed to do their job, that ICE had to protect themselves. Not an easy thing to do. Why does Ilhan Omar have $34 million in her account? And where are the tens of billions of dollars that have been stolen from the once great state of Minnesota? We are there because of massive fraud with billions of dollars missing and illegal criminals. Blah blah blah blah blah. We want the money back. We want it now.

Those fraudsters who stole the money are going to jail where they belong. This is insane. Much of what you're witnessing is a cover up for this theft and fraud. The mayor and the governor are inciting insurrection when they with their pompous dangerous rhetoric. They should be looking for the billions of dollars. So they're he's making all about fraud. Blah blah blah blah blah. unfucking believable.

Again, this is just a pretext for this massive ICE invasion of Minnesota. They want to pretend this is somehow about the Minneapolis fraud allegations around daycarees and stuff. ICE and CBP don't investigate those things. Send in the FBI. They're the professionals. They do the law enforcement work. They should lock up uh the people who stole money from the state of Minnesota.

They have they they were charged years ago, right? And they will continue to charge them. What Trump is doing is using that as a pretext to send ICE and CBP into this community to terrorize it. To terrorize it. And it right, at least right now, it doesn't look like he's backing down. He needs to see a political cost to this because he just doesn't care. He does not care if you are executed by ICE or CBP. Um if he views you as a political enemy, and that's just the reality we're living. We're living in Putin's Russia right now. And one last thing on the response is just um you Dan and I talked about this a little bit on Friday's pod, but the there's a funding bill for DHS that if it doesn't get passed by next Friday um the government will shut down or at least partial shutdown for DHS. And um it did pass the House with seven Democrats in the House voting for it and all the Republicans. And now it goes to

the Senate and I don't think a single person in the Senate, especially Democrats, should absolutely not vote for this bill. And again, you don't vote for it and DHS shuts down, it's not going to stop ICE. It's not going to stop Border Patrol. They have enough money to keep doing this. But I think shutting the government down or shutting DHS down and then having the administration have to defend that and talk about it. Like we have to bring, as you just said, national attention to this and get people out into the streets and this is an all hands- on deck.

People should be resisting at all. It like this as much as they can, however they can peacefully. And the Democrats in the Senate should absolutely not vote for the DHS bill. I agree. I look I I was skeptical during the last government shutdown before it happened. I was very skeptical about our ability to raise the salience of the expiration of these healthcare subsidies um as as the focus of the argument. Um I was totally wrong. Democrats did a great job. They hung tight for a long time, longer than I ever expected. They absolutely raised the salience of uh the expiration of these ACA tax credits. And so I agree with you again like it is a it is a moment for something big um to send a signal and to force a conversation about what is actually happening in our streets because I mean this is horrifying. They're going to come for your community next. Um you know and like you know Trump's tweeting out a

photo of a gun like I'm sorry sir you're the one who is for the absolute right to bear arms. Like if it's up to you and your coalition people can have bazookas you know strapped to their chests outside events as long as they're Republicans, right? Let's not pretend for one second that that's the issue here. If it were up to me, I' I'd get all the guns off the street, right? Like, this is about these masked thugs coming to our communities and brutalizing people and executing them and it has to stop and we all have to stand up to this right now.

All right. Well, that's a good place to leave it for now. Um, we will keep you updated on all of this. Um, go subscribe to the channel, uh, our POS America channel on YouTube for, uh, continuing updates about this and, uh, everything else that's happening. So, talk to you later.
