Under. Under. No goals. No goals. It's time to check the game notes. I think we're going to have the show of the year here.

We're almost having magical moments here. Show Mindsy's time. Army show start us off. What an opportunity. Another idea by me.

Everything's Mos's idea. Summer. Everything is my idea. Welcome. Welcome. It's time to check the game notes. We're both on the road here and I'm going to get to where I am. We'll get to where Army is. But first, this episode is brought to you by Body Armor, the official sports drink of the NHL and of Game Notes. Body Armor has great tasting flavors like strawberry, banana, and peach mango with no colors from artificial sources in a bold new look with the same great taste. And now available in Canada up north, the great white north. So whether you're hitting the ice, the gym, or just need some refreshing, grab Body Armor today at Soies or a local grocery store near you.

Body Armor, Choose Better Arm Dog. I'm down in Philly. We're going to get to that in a minute, but where are you? You're on the road as always.

Yeah, I'm back up in Toronto. So last episode I was here working New Year's Eve, um, which was great. And then I'm back here again. Um, work tonight and then we'll get to it. Everything's tying in, Merles. everything because I got to go home for tomorrow. I got to work a Pens game tomorrow. Guess who they're playing?

The New Jersey Devils. Well, New Jersey Devils. So, I mean, this is uh this is like all coming together beautifully, but uh

I mean that's if they still have a team like we have a guy in the back that that wants to just fold the whole franchise at this point, I think.

And we're going to get to all that. We're gonna get to the Devils talk, but we do have a gold medalist coming on in just a few minutes from the world champion junior championship team, Sweden, Sasha Buladine. He's sitting in the back. He's going to get in here in about 5 minutes. But I got to break down last night because we chase goals in Philly and we did it again. We're 3-0 on the season. Magical night once again. Pockets are full. Set up the day for us, Merl. Set up the day. What these have been like? This is what your is this your third chasing goals?

Third one of the season. We started in New York, then we did St. Louis, and now we did Philly. Uh Albany to Philly. It's It's It's so close. It's a 4 and a half hour drive. It's a 4 and a half hour train. It's an hour flight. I I opted for the Amtrak just the way the times went. So, I jumped on the train. 2 and a half hours to the city, flip trains, 20 minutes, and I was here. It was basically like walking distance to the hotel. So really, really easy way to get down here. But what I did,

I went right to the steak the the cheese steaks places, army, these packs and Goss.

I haven't been there since I'm 16 years old. So I kind of forgot which one I like and which one's better. And I got to say,

I wasn't impressed with either one of them. Really? Yeah. Like the service was brutal. So I go to the one window, they're like, "Oh, only soda and fries at this window. Go to the other one." Yeah. I went down to the next one. Get the cheese steak. And my problem with both of them is they don't warm up the bun. They don't toast it. It just room temperature bun just it didn't do it for me.

Rapid fire it out. Just get it in the bun. Get it to the guy. Yeah. Yeah. I wasn't impressed. And then I I found out later cuz then um we went from there. I went from there. We went to the bar stool bar. Have a little meet and greet there. Have a few drinks before we head over.

How was that? It was good. Nice place. It's um you know it's I think at night it's a more of like a club. Like you can get some bottle service going down the bottom. kind of that that vibe. But up top, we just stayed there with the sports on. And the girl there told us that both of those like are not the play. Angelos's I guess is the play.

I see that in the chat right now. Zack Kish 10 in the chat. Angelos is goated. Those two are overrated. Send them to the Minesies.

Yes, exactly. That's I should have just saved this for the Mindsies, but that's it right there. And I guess this Angelos has a little seated bun. They toast it. So, I don't think I'll have time today to grab that, but another chance we will. How was the experience at the game though when you guys got there like being in Philly? Were they like was were they was it great? I saw the fans like handing you pink Whitney nips like obviously it was like crazy, right?

Yeah, it's great. Great fans. You know that we played here so much in the miners or in the NHL. Great fans. Thanks to your brother Riley. He hooked us up with tickets. We didn't have to sit in the last row at the roof on top of us like this like in St. Louis. He got us down in the 100 levels. So that was awesome. Shout out to him. I talked a little youth hockey with him. I think he's going up Quebec peeweee tournament this year or next year or both.

Yeah, I think he coaches like the junior Flyers Quebec pee-wee team. Like that's part of his like something that he wants to do also because he has like a a 10-year-old.

Um and so eventually, you know, Ezra will be of age to go to the Quebec Pee-Wee tournament, but he's in charge of like running the Quebec peewee thing portion of that for their like youth hockey thing. So crazy youth hockey dad is in the blood. No question, buddy. Um, how is IO watching a game with him? He seems like pretty serious. Hey, like

like all he cares about is goals. Like it there was a fight. He didn't even care about the fight. He's like, "Ah, this let's go. We need is there are they going to call a penalty from that? I just want power plays. I want goals." He's insane. He's absolutely insane.

Well, you got it. You got it. And what was what did it start at? Was it five and a half and then went up to 6 and 1/2?

Yeah. The night before he had 5 1/2 - 130 and then by the time we got down here was 6 1/2 plus 105 which which was fine but it seemed like we had it and then all of a sudden it got sweaty at the end. It got real sweaty and um yeah it's amazing we did it again. It's crazy.

I think that was an interesting game too to go to right because it was the goce versus um Zegris game which was like sick and goce scores power play off the start scores and then Zegris bang bang right back. He does that. Did you see his Sy was so sick too? Like bang bang. Like he just he did this like sick little [ __ ] quick

hang up the phone. I guess they they when they traded him they hung up the phone quick on him or something. So that's what that was referring.

He did an interview with Scott Hartnull after the game on the bench and he was like what's up with the how [clears throat] did that feel? And he's like [ __ ] incredible. [ __ ] incredible. He's swearing on like local TV. It's awesome. And then

I was hanging out with his dad during it. It was funny. I texted his dad. I'm like, "Hey, are you happen to be at the game?" And soon as I sent the text, bang, Zegra scored. It was really funny. Then he got another one. And uh it was crazy. They were booing Goier every time he touched the puck, you know, like I I'd never been part of one of those games and been in a game where it was like that. So that was pretty cool.

So revenge revenge games for both of them. They come up on top. [clears throat]

Zegris with the Flyers. Flyers are rolling okay this year. [ __ ] has them going pretty good, eh?

Yeah. That's a good game to go to though. Good atmosphere. Good crowd. Great. The fans are awesome there.

Yeah. And then the energy around Goce too, which like the fans there hate him. So, it's like it made it even better probably for like atmosphere. Good seats from Ri Flyers took care. So,

that's awesome. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect trip. And uh we're going to do it again in February, maybe end of January, early February, and we might be coming to a town near you, Arm Dog, even though you're never home.

Yeah. Well, Elio has family in Pittsburgh, too. And the guy that calls the goals at the game, Ryan Mill, the in-house announcer, like goal scored by Sydney Crosby, is his brother-in-law.

Well, yeah. For Christmas. Yeah, he's got to come back to town. It'd be awesome. It'd be great to have him back in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's rolling five wins in a row. New Jersey on next tomorrow night. That's awesome, man. On Monday, I was on Chicklets and Cruz got traded like right on the show, which is crazy. Actually, he got traded earlier because Yeah, Cruz called me earlier and was like, "Hey, uh, Dad, I don't He was at school. We dropped him off on Sunday back in Rhode Island and he's like, "Dad, I just got a call. I don't know what's going on." I'm like, "From I got traded to Swift Current and he's like 15 years old." He He's not like signed. He just got drafted in the summer. He He had like no clue about it. But like I didn't know about it either. Like they didn't call me either. Like Seattle didn't call me.

Nothing. some random dude, I guess, called him. Cruz doesn't even know who it is and just said, "Hey, got news for you. You got traded to Swift Currency at school." So, he calls me in a panic and I'm like, "Oh." I'm like, "I don't know." I'm like on a I'm on a like a a production call for Wednesday night tonight show with Sportsnet. I'm like, "I'll call you back in a second." So, and then and then everything got announced when I was on Chicklets.

But that's how it went down. Is that weird that they don't call a parent of a 15year-old? Is that weird?

Yeah. I don't know how that all works. Um, the only thing I remember is I talked to the OHL owner or Sher Bassin was the owner or GM. I don't know what he was for Erie Otterers the night before the draft. I was on the phone with him. I was 16

and I I remember that. So, I don't know. Maybe that's just normal. We asked, "What about your adviser? Isn't G his advisor?"

G, did you get a call from Seattle about the trade or did you orchestrate this at all?

I'll tell you what. A few nights ago, it was late. We were in Miami. Yeah. I was pretty drunk. I I kept getting this phone call from a Seattle area code and I just kept telling him to [ __ ] off. I said, "Fuck off. I don't give a [ __ ] I don't know who this is. I'm in Miami. It's Miami. Mike, no, I'm just kidding. I I haven't I haven't heard anything. No one went through me.

Reminder, you go through Cruz Armstrong. You run through my phone. You comes right through Grenelli."

Yeah. This guy. College hockey, junior hockey. uh super adviser. I mean, you're the super adviser of this whole industry. So, you're like the Jud Moldiviver of this of that world and it's pretty incredible to have you in our in our back corner. Although, they did skip over you for this trade. But, I'm pumped up about Swift Current, man. Like, like listen to this. One of the two smallest towns in all of the CHL. Uh like 18,000 people, three hours down the road from Saskatoon. My mom and dad are going nuts in Saskatoon. The GM called us right away. The coaches called us.

They called Cruz as well, so making him feel great even though he's just 15. So, it's up to him now. Come in, try to make that team and see what happens next year. But pretty exciting. I know lots of people there. Owen Pickering, the Owen Pickering, first round pick of the Penguins is in Wilks had some time up uh texted me right away. It's like Army Swift current because he played junior hockey there and they had good teams and they used to pack that barn. That whole little town comes out and supports them. It's unreal. I think it's like 18,000 people in Swift. Somebody come. That's got to be an unreal place to play, right? Like that's that's where you want to be.

Sounds like a mini NHL. Singy Swift current Broncos are now the official CHL team of game notes.

[ __ ] rights. Here we go. Broncos, let's go. Great history there with some good players. Some tragedy and bad stories from years and years ago. Of course, uh they had a bus crash and then there's some other terrible terrible stuff that happened there. But um a a cool awesome little community. I have family there, too. um by way of my dad's side. So, it it works out awesome. They're actually Billets also, which is kind of interesting. So, it just sounds like super comfortable. Travis Moan is a coach there. A guy I played with. Rean Derby, uh awesome dude is a is a coach there as well right now. So, I'm pumped about it. So, that was that was our crazy last couple days dealing with that, which was kind of awesome at the same time because I'm pretty happy about like where he landed with that. Is that the goal now to like go is that the is that what it's going to be is like everyone's going to try to go to CHL and

then go to college. Well, I don't know. Like USHL too, right? Like I it's Cruz's USHL draft year this year also for all the kids on his team, which is pretty big.

OHL draft this year as well for a lot of the kids and and Q depending where you land. Actually, our our guest could come on, Sasha, and he could talk about all that because he has kind of interesting ties with all that as well of like where you go, what you do. Is he here? There he is. There he is, boys.

What's up, guys? Sasha Bumemedian. Way to go, buddy. Congratulations, team Sweden. Winnipeg's Jets firstrounder be um where were you in Youngstown in the USA? Is that correct?

Exactly. Yeah. So, yeah, you lived a whole life already in a few years. Pretty amazing stuff. Congrats. How was the uh how was the tournament? How was how was the other night?

Yeah, tournament was sick. Um, obviously all world juniors, they really set us up set us up nice there. It's it's prepared for us and and treat us really well. So, everything was everything was spotless. It was it was sick.

Where's your medal? It's actually in my in my dorm. It's I'm at the rink right now. Uh,

you don't wear it before the boys come in and brag to the boys. I mean, that's what I would do.

Swedes are too nice. Army too nice. Yeah. Nice. I got I got to keep it got to keep it safe. Got to keep it away from the boys.

Are you gold? It was uh Yeah, Sweden's first gold medal since 2012. I was actually playing in Sweden at the time and uh two guys on my team, Max Freeberg and Jeremy Boyce were on that team and and it's been a while. Third, only the third gold medal ever for Sweden and World Junior has been crazy because you have such such good players come out of there. Was was there any pressure from that? Were you guys talking at all about that that you never you never seemed to get the gold? Yeah, that was that was point of emphasis from from day one. Um even in the summer at the summer showcase. Um when we got together there like we yeah, we knew we had a special group this year. Um we're all best friends. Um we we've known each other since Yeah, Sweden's not the biggest country. Just just summer camps and stuff when you're younger, you get to know all of them.

So, um, so yeah, we're all best friends and definitely a point of emphasis to start that we we really wanted to go for it this year and and we really felt like we had a good chance. So, um, so yeah, 100%. Yeah, it's like you said, it's pretty crazy that this is our only our third one ever. Um, yeah, Sweden's third one in 50 years, so it's pretty special.

Yeah, I think they announced on I was watching the broadcaster like their first gold medal. They have one gold medal in 44 years or something. It was like, is that was that true? Was that right?

Yeah. Second gold medal in 45 years for the Swedes. Wow, dude. I'm 43. That's insane though at World. You guys are always like a You guys are like one of the big superpowers of hockey. So, I mean, it was like failure after failure, right? you guys handled yourself through this tournament really like like quality of play, depth and position, uh defensive ability pretty Swedish as well. Um and then ability to score eight goals, six goals, six goals, 4-3 against the Fins, and then 4-2 just bullied the checks in the final who who seem to be bullying everyone, but you guys just had that built through your entire lineup.

And you guys didn't give up what's the most goals you gave up in a game? Three three three times. One goal one time and two in the final. I mean pretty rock steady team top to bottom.

Yeah. Yeah. 100%. I mean like our goalie was unreal and like all he made a ton of good saves but we we just stuck together as a team. Like we we knew the checks were going to come out hard and they were going to play hard. Like they're they always play hard. They play well as a team. Same with the fans. They're all such a good team game, you know? So, it's really hard to play against, but um yeah, we just stuck together. It was it was fun.

Did you guys secretly want to play US in the final because of what they did in Sweden um on your guys' home tour years ago? Merles was in the building for that one.

Yeah, they were blowing they were blowing kisses and uh they had everything going. That would have been electric with especially with the team you had because you guys were like poised to win, you know.

Yeah, 100%. We that's what we want wanted like to start especially on their home soil. We were all saying it like they beat us on our home soil. We got to we got to beat up on them, but obviously they um yeah, they didn't want it. So, um but yeah, that's what we wanted. We we cuz especially like

you guys whacked them six to three. Yeah. Yeah, that that Yeah, that game was uh I think it might have been the only game that got sold out. Um us versus the US. So, we want we wanted a soldout barn, but it doesn't really matter as long as we get the gold. I want to ask you about uh Ivar Stenberg. Everybody's talking about him, top two, top three pick. Give us a little insight about him and like he he looks like he's really special.

Yeah. Um what a guy. He uh he uh unreal teammate. Just works his works his bag off. He Yeah. One of one of my best teammates I've ever had. Just just does everything to win. He he uh Yeah. He goes in the corners, wins puck battles, is so hard to play against. He's not He's not the biggest guy, but he's so strong. He's a He's a pretty thick He's pretty thick for

He looks like he's built. Yeah, he's pretty thick. So, he's so hard to knock off the puck and just his skating, his shot, everything. He's He's so poised. And yeah, he's so funny. He'll He'll go out go out, shift, have a turnover or whatever. Nothing will happen out of it, but he'll have a turnover and then do some crazier crazier stuff the next shift. He's Yeah, he's he's the man. He's unreal and and yeah, we're lucky to have him. So, uh yeah, definitely definitely going to go high in the draft and potentially first overall.

Who's the other one? Bork as well, right? VGO. VGO Bork some Ivar and Yeah, I mean that VGO and Ivar like [ __ ] take them one too with names like that. It's unbelievable Viking stuff right there. Yeah, that's all. Yeah, they uh both of them so smart. Like they they're the two youngest player on our players on our team, but they I think Antonell said it in an interview. They play like they're the oldest. They're so mature. And uh VGO, he's I mean he's on our first PK f like on power play doing everything as as a yeah 17-year-old on our team. So it's it's it's pretty impressive. He's the he's the only guy with the cage on.

So he he has some swagger to him. Um, I gotta ask I I always like to ask about the Stanley Cup parties when we have guys on like that. Tell me about the party for the for the Royal Juniors. I know a lot of you guys are probably under 21. So, in Minnesota, you couldn't maybe go out, but did you did you guys fall into any any good times or any any uh shenanigans, should I say?

Just a big just a big buffet of food. Merles, what do you guys do in Sweden? You do the big

Will you explain to these guys the ule board? These guys think I'm crazy when I send them the pictures of the ule board. You guys do a board.

Yeah, the Ule board's unreal. It's unreal. Yeah, it's it's it's a tradition. You gotta do it.

I showed I showed him I showed Ricard Raquel in Pittsburgh your picture, Merles. And I was like, "Look at this." You had like mustard on fish and like he sends us a picture of this and Yans loves it. Yans goes crazy. He's like, "What is that? There's like pink potato sllo kind of thing." And he's like, Raquel was like, "Oh yeah, that's that's that's the good stuff right there." there and I'm like I'm like really

bad. Yeah, I know. The party was unreal. We had pretty much since we went so far I think like almost everyone's family was there, parents and and yeah, they flew over for playoffs and whatnot. Um since yeah, they also had a good feeling that we were going to win. So, uh, almost everyone's parents were there, families, and we just, yeah, we just kind of hung out. And then, um, yeah, we were at the hotel, obviously. We none of us are over 21, so couldn't really go out. Uh, no one had any fake IDs either, so uh, we we were all just at we were at the hotel to start. Um, and yeah, we were there and just celebrating with our families in in our little uh, in our little conference room there. Um,

so it was packed, but it was it was a ton of fun. Uh we were standing on tables and jumping around and and having a ton of fun. So it was it was unreal.

That's a good way to do it. I know in our in our chat too, we were talking because you guys' team, we just, you know, obviously so good and deep, but like you just see Swedish tradition, like the players coming out of there and um I forget [clears throat] who it was in our group chat, Merles, I was like, "What's up with the Swedes?" Like what's with Swedish hockey that like all you guys are just like smooth like you're a good skater, your brother's a good skater. Like obviously hockeyy's a big part of culture in in in Sweden. There's no question. Um but like the skating, the how you're brought up playing. I know you moved here in your mid teens kind of um to Columbus, but like growing up like being around that environment.

Like what's what pushes all you guys on the pathway to be like these kinds of players because it's just a factory?

Yeah. I don't know. Like obviously we play on the bigger feet. Um, that's that's the first thing. And then, um, I mean, Sweden really takes pride in the skating. like um ever since you're young like I feel like for me like this team my hometown team the team I played for we always started practice like first 10 15 minutes was just like skating up and down the ice inside edges outside edges just like um dialing that stuff in which I feel like really helps like every day just um every practice just simple 10 15 minutes to start practice I remember that's what we would do um and I feel like that yeah that really helps that's something that's something you do like that's just skate up and down and or skate skate around the rink and the coach coach just tells you yeah inside edges outside edges one skate forwards one skate backwards just all these different things that um

that are boring and seem a little silly when you're um yeah when you're young and you're just you just want to scrimmage and play games but um but they obviously really help at the end of the day so um yeah Sweden not the biggest country but we uh uh we definitely

but you guys have access You guys have a lot of access obviously it's like a winter nation as well but like we're like and your dad Joseph Boumedian GM of Swedish Olympic team and and was working for Columbus which what brought you there at the time and had a full pro career but uh growing up in a hockey family and just having access and I think Sweden does a good job of like the kids Merles you were doing that too when you were there you were able just to go over

yeah our rank was it it was open free hockey from 1 to 3:00 and it was right next to this school so the kids would just walk over after school they store their equipment in these plastic bins and then they just drag them out and these kids just go out and and do that. Is that normal everywhere in Sweden?

Yeah, pretty much. Um yeah, just there's free ice like you just go skate and and whenever there's no like whenever there's no one who like books the ice, they just make it free ice pretty much. Um so you just go out and skate and and have fun with the guys. Yeah, we my where my hometown is and and uh where I lived growing up, we we also my my rink was like 5 10 minute walk. So we would always go down in the middle of the day and and uh go skate. So yeah, it's pretty much like that uh I think all over. But yeah, it's pretty pretty good availability.

I want to ask you too because it's a hot topic with Canada and US and they didn't you know do what they wanted to do at World Juniors and Canada now three years in a row. A lot of conversations have come up about development and youth hockey. Kind of like what we're talking about. Your brother's younger than you. He kind of came up it a little bit more. You're a little older in into the mix when you came to the US. Is is there a big difference that you notice in just how hockey is ran comparatively to like what Sweden was maybe more maybe more like grassrooty like grassroots smaller city like Swedish style or did you notice like looking at it now is there like a big difference in how you learn and develop and come up through hockey America to Sweden? [snorts]

Yeah, 100%. Uh there's so there are a ton of differences. Like Sweden, you play cross ice. I don't know what age it is till now. Like they they changed those rules. So they play cross ice and they have like three games going on at the same time. Um till you're like I don't I don't know like 10 or 11 or something like that. Like 10 probably. Um or even older. But yeah, it's a like really different. And then here like tryyous and you're like seven, eight years old or whatever you are and you're trying out for a team and it's all hectic and

for the elite AAA sevenyear-old team platinum. Exactly. Like you're eight you're eight years old and you're going out there trying out for a team and you're all stressed out and that's not how it works in Sweden. everyone everyone who wants to play for your team plays for your team and and it's like yeah the best players at the end of the day like when you're 14 15 that's when it starts to like people go to the better teams and stuff but there are no like tryyous or whatever like before you're

wow 15 probably 16 maybe um so yeah every yeah you just you make the team and then um you just yeah play for your hometown parents standing out front of the rink with checkbooks like staring at the Swedish coaches like how much how much how much my kid will play four minutes I don't care he needs to be on the team

they just play they get to play well yeah they just play um develop and have numbers and have kids involved until it gets serious exactly what we're saying

yeah it's just it's just a lot more serious here than obviously um business there different different ways of doing it but it's a lot more serious and and a lot more pressure on the kids I feel like um compared to Sweden where it's not Yeah. most kids just go out and play to have fun, you know, and they're they're just with their buddies compared to here where it's Yeah. Like you said, it's pretty much a business from when you're 10 years old. So

like your brother and my son difference, your little brother and my son play at Mount St. Charles in in Rhode Island. Like that's what it's like. Like they were there last year. They were 14. Now they're 15. It's that's the biggest difference. Like it's crazy at that age where you should be playing at home like you did growing up. Yeah. Well, they're getting get Yeah, exactly. They're getting to the age where um it's starting to matter like this is this obviously you touched on it before I got on here that it's draft years and all that and and for junior leagues. So, this is this is where Yeah, they start, but before this, I don't I don't know before their age right now, I don't know if there should be too much of trying out and stuff.

What about you? Like now that like you went to the USL in college, was was that always your idea or was there ever thoughts of the OHL, WHL or even going back to the Swedish, you know, leagues or anything or was it college all the way?

Uh, so I moved here when I was we moved here when I was 14. Um, like they didn't know a ton obviously being in Sweden like you don't know a ton. Obviously I I knew like coming from a hockey family and dad and playing and whatnot like I knew how cool it was to play college hockey and and like the OHL, WHL and all all that CHL like um how cool that is. It's like mini NHL and it's like it's it's sick. So um just coming here like I I took took my time with thinking of what I wanted to do. Um and then yeah played for the AAA Blue Jackets at home.

um when I was 14 and 15 and then um yeah started I I I decided I wanted to play college hockey before um but yeah before all the junior stuff. So like um so yeah that was the USHL route. Obviously now you can go to the CHL which is pretty cool and um but yeah I tendered to Youngstown and and um and yeah took the college route but yeah just the first two years uh I just I just kind of looked around and see what I wanted to do and obviously we you don't have a ton of ideas of it like we didn't know we were going to move here so we just we moved and and uh took my time with it and and yeah could I have gone the OHL route? Yeah, I could have. But um I felt like college hockey was pretty sex.

Was it BEu? Was it BEu all the way? Was RPI ever in the mix? Oh wow. Is there anything like your dad? I don't know if you're smart enough to go to RPI.

Not a dad. I love it. I love it. Um well, it was it was Beu for the for the most part. Like I I I took my visits and I went to different spots and and checked it out and yeah, I had great visits. Like it was it was it was a tough decision like at the end of the day when you're

what was I? I don't I just right before I turn or 16. Yeah, 16 something like that. So

it's so hard to know like you don't you have no clue like you're just trying to talk to people and ask questions and and go around and you're just like every place is so sick to you. you're just like, "Wow, this is unreal." And then you go to the next place, you're just like, "How am I going to make this decision?" But yeah, I I don't know. I My last visit was Beu, um, Pando, Coach Pandalfo, and and facilities and being in the middle of Boston, being able to play the Bean Pot, all this just was a cherry on top. So, it was uh, yeah, it was pretty pretty cool when I got to commit here.

Yeah, pretty amazing. And and I got to ask more about Youngstown. you tendered there and you went there as a 16-year-old and then that's when you got recruited and and decided and chose. What was it like playing at USHL as a 16-year-old as well? Was that easy for you? Was it different? Did you play a lot? Were you Cuz you played a ton last year as what, a 17-year-old, like pure 17-year-old freshman at BEu as well. We watched you at the Frozen Four and where were we? St. Louis. Pretty incredible kind of steps in the last few years. and then LA for the draft. That's crazy.

Yeah, exactly. So, Youngstown, no, it was it was hard. Um 16 years old coming in like you just you just try to develop as fast as you can, but coming in like I didn't weigh a ton. I was short. I just just yeah, just just trying to find my way kind of at this it was kind of similar to start of last year too here in college hockey. like uh you just try to find your way pretty much survive just the first uh I don't know 10 games and then you get into it like you get into playing playing the way you play and you're there for I like you're there for a reason the people they bring you there for a reason so um yeah you kind of find your way but definitely was really hard to start playing against like USHL like 20 year 20 year olds at 16 and they're strong they're big I was

I don't know 130 like 140 I remember in junior when I I was like a 16, 17 cuz I had a late birthday and I remember fighting this guy Derek Shoots. He was a captain of the Spokane Chiefs. He was 20 years old. He was huge. He was just ragdolling me. I was like ducking, dodging, dipping, throwing a random chicken punch out from the bottom. And like I at the end he got me. I was like hugging his leg and he like got me with one and I was like that's it. That's it. I just got one in on me. It was crazy. I just survived. You know that's what you're kind of that's what you're doing kind of you know.

Yeah. No, you're just surviving. And then yeah, like I said, you get into it and and uh yeah, I committed to

How was the jump for you the next year going to going to college? Yeah, the jump was like I committed to BEu. You're allowed to commit like August 1st, I think. Um um so August 1st of my Youngstown year, I was allowed to commit, but I obviously took my time a little bit and didn't commit till December, I think. Um, so yeah, and then at the end of the year, uh, BEu, yeah, just they called me and obviously I was I was still a junior in high school. So I had to finish high school and all that and and did my senior year all through that summer. So I didn't really get a summer that summer. But, um, yeah, the jump to college, I was I was a little scared, a little didn't know what to expect. Like all these guys, like we had

25 26 year olds on our team and Yeah. And I'm coming in at 17. I had braces on the first the first half of the year and I'm and I'm I got braces on and they're like like this kid's going to play on our team and but they they brought me in like like I was one of the guys and yeah it it it was it was an easier easier transition into the group than I thought. Obviously the the game was a little different and and kept similar to Youngstown. I was surviving for the first first half and I got strung some good games together uh in the first half and and and then yeah got to go home for break and and kind of um

reset said reset settle in and be like all right I'm into this now and I I can do this. So um yeah came back for the second half and felt really good and then the second half uh obviously uh we kind of took off as a team and and won the bean pot and and went as far as we went in the playoffs. Obviously not not the result we wanted at the end there, but um but yeah, um obviously our we had a stack team too, so kind of just hanging on to those guys and and uh and try to do my thing.

Yeah, tell us more about that team because Cabbrini was on it last year. Just tell us about him like his practice habits, his office habits because he's clearly going to be a superstar for the next 20 years.

Uh Mlin. Yeah, Mlin was on the Sharks last year or two years ago. Were you there to with him two years ago?

No, I was in Youngtown. One year one year one year too early. Yeah. Well, though the thing is Cabbrini and Hudson back

CBrini and Hudson came back during the Bean Pot were like celebrating them doing that. All right.

That's what you're thinking of. Pretty cool having those guys around. I thought you're all I mean I guess they're taking everybody 17. You have a new guy that's coming. I think he's 17. Am I right about that one at least? Yeah, we uh we got the new guy coming from uh Mskegee in there uh Ty and so uh he'll be here uh tonight. I think he comes in or something like that uh in in the day today. He's not here right now, but uh

hockeyy's crazy now. Like guys are on teams are going like you can go CHL to USHL, USHL to CHL like jumping over go to

it's Oh, here he comes. My advisor. It's because I think it's because of that amazing BU coaching staff. Like when I went and did the BEu facility tour and I mean you talked to Pereira, Kim and then of of course Jay Pandalfo like

it's got to just be incredible to learn from these guys. Kim obviously being with the Bruins for so many years. Pereira just being the elite recruiter that he is and Jay Pandalfo national champion, Stanley Cup champion. Learning from these guys every day has to be a treat.

Yeah, it's unreal. I mean this is that's that's the main reason I wanted to come here. Obviously Po with all his experience, Stanley Cup champ, you Yeah, you said it. Uh national champ, he he's done everything. Been on those teams. So, um I wanted to be here and learn from these guys and and yeah, like you said, Kim Kimmer is great, too. And and uh and Joe, too, obviously. So, I wanted Yeah, they've they've a big part of our success obviously with the last three years going to the Frozen Four and having such good teams every year. So, um, so yeah,

I think the thing about it too with BEu, what you see is there obviously like one of those programs that like guy like yourself would go to. A lot of young guys go to like quite a rapid, you know, rise to, you know, junior to college, but they play you, they develop you, they bring you along, and then you're drafted first round. Um, and that that kind of I think as a young player or a family looking at schools for a hockey player, those kinds of things are like what you look for to to not be stuck behind all these people. And rightfully so, maybe you should be, but they're still going to bring you along and play you. And that they have kind of a track record of that. Pereira and those guys, Pandalfo, of doing that at BEu as well.

Yeah. You last like two years at BU and you're go on to play pro. Like that's what happens.

Yeah. I feel like that's the thing with BEu compared to some other schools. like some other schools like or most of the schools I'd say like they um they want you there for four years. They they want you there and they like they want you to finish school and whatnot. But here they they really preach like developing you quickly and and get into the pros. They um yeah, they they uh really take pride in this like they're they're stepping stage to getting to the NHL and and yeah, they they say they say it all the time. They say said it when I committed too like we want to develop you as fast as possible and and to be a good as good of a hockey player as possible. So whenever you leave is when you leave and and uh yeah we'll we'll be proud of you e either way compared to some other schools obviously want you there for four years

and you and you guys do have the youngest team in college hockey like we can't forget that as well. So like looking towards the second half I expect a much better second half from you guys. A lot of kids just learning how to

just learning how to play college hockey. A lot of kids freshman, sophomore, just finally understanding like how the hockey east works. Who is one guy we should look out for in the second half? Not a big name. You you have the Cole Hudson's, the Cole Eisermanman's, Big Mike, obviously Tyen Lawrence coming in, but who's like an underrated guy on BU's roster that BU hockey fans should should look out for? Um, I was going to say tying in because he's looked pretty good in the USHL. I feel I feel like he can he can really Yeah. be a big difference for us, but um,

what about Sasha Guav? Because he's a guy that he's been hurt the whole first half of the season. There was such high expectations for him coming in and he's a player, man. When he's healthy, I bet I bet that's just going to kickstart this whole thing for you guys.

And what did he first round pick? He came from North Dakota over to BU, right? Exactly. Yeah. No, Sasha's unreal. He uh Yeah. tough kid. Like he uh he goes goes twice a week or whatever to go fight here and here whatever gym and he goes brings his boxing gloves and he fights and and then he'll come to practice and so yeah, he's unreal. he like he didn't he had a hard time getting in the flow of things obviously like you said being hurt having those different injuries and um I feel like when just when he gets in the flow of things and and starts playing more games and and uh yeah kind of consistently playing every weekend he'll be he'll be really good for us. Um I mean heavy shot can really smart defensively and and just just a reliable guy. So um it's

like you add him Lawrence coming like this this BU team's going to look a lot different for the second half here. You get the Christmas break. You get to reset and then

Well, he just talked about like like it helped you that reset come back. Yes. Beu is going to be some trouble. Tell me more about BEu though. I want to know because you're talking this guy's going for boxing lessons. What's a normal day there? Like uh the weight room before practice, after practice. Tell me all about this.

Yeah. Um so obviously different guys have different schedules. Um we got depending on when you have class, obviously you uh if you have class in the mornings, you have a hard time lifting. in the morning. So then you lift after practice. But if you don't have class in the morning and you can make it to lift, our lift is at 9:45. Um 9:45 and then and then we always got meeting at 11:00 a.m. Um meeting in the video room um whether we do video or not. Um just meeting going through practice and then we hop on the ASET about around 11:30 11:45 um and we'll practice for an hour. uh practice for an hour and then the guys that didn't lift before who had class lift after practice. And so we had two two lift groups and then um yeah whether you have one, two or three classes throughout the day, you just yeah attend those and and then kind of at night we um yeah hang out with the hang out with each other

and and eat dinner and stuff. So um so yeah, we it's yeah, we we got two different lift groups, but it's uh it's um yeah, it's pretty it's pretty pro here. We uh we

I was going to say that's a pro hockey schedule. That's when you go to school. Did you mention that? Do you guys go

Yeah. Yeah. Like Gell, you were here. You saw it. It was It's It's an It's an unreal spot. We get treated really well. So, um

I mean, they're on the Body by Boille regiment, too. Like the famous hockey trainer Mike Bole has was was the BEu guy for years and years and years. He has his uh his soldiers in there now. And you go look at that gym. That is the gym is just as it's as big as the entire facility. It's absolutely enormous. And I love how he's breeding competition the whole time. Right when you walk in, the first thing you see competition board and all that was the first thing brought me over to f obviously Hudson brings me over shows me he's at the top of this list, top of that list. But I love that.

I love how they're just breeding competition the whole time. That's awesome. Yeah, 100%. 100%. Well, I think that's about it for us. I don't want to make any more mistakes thinking you're older than I am, but I do have a funny story to tell you. I love telling the story. I went to a dinner once with your parents and uh Bill Zto and a bunch of other of his clients and see if your dad remembers the story. We played credit card game for the bill. And since he had his had the wife there, he tried to only put in one card, but Jeff Hamilton being the the little [ __ ] he is, it's like, "No, no, no. You had two people eat. So your dad had to put two credit cards in table of 10 people at Gibson's in Chicago. So it was about 1,500 bucks. And the funniest part of the whole thing was his were the last two cards in. So it didn't even matter. But he ended up picking up.

Oh my god. Of course it was. That's hilarious. Yeah. And then Sasha wasn't able to play on the uh elite super 7 hockey tournament when he was 10 years old because he took all his money on the credit card game. He missed out on a massive uh, you know, recruiting thing like scouts are going to be there, you know. I want to ask you about Winnipeg though, the draft, the experience. I think they need to change that that you can go to an NHL camp. I know it lands in the season, but you should be able I know you go to probably rookie camp. What was that like? They're struggling mightily.

I thought you were going to say I think he needs to go to that team now, aren't they?

Yeah. Like they need something. Jesus. Oh my god. Life is bad in in Winnipeg right now, which is a good sign for you coming up through the pipe. Um, but yeah, the experience of the draft, your whole family there. I saw you guys in LA, it was great. First round pick and um, going to Winnipeg and Did you go to Winnipeg? You went to a rookie camp, I assume, probably, and got acclimated in the town and with the organization. What was that like to start the year?

Yeah, it was unreal. Um, obviously the draft was different this year with Yeah, you saw like it was the um, yeah, all the teams were Yeah, exactly. theater teams were at home and it was a little different. So, we didn't really know what to expect. Like I've been to drafts before with dad working in the NHL and and uh yeah that which is pretty cool and um being able to being able to see that before before my draft year but um so I've been to those before and and we didn't really know what to expect this year how it was going to be but it it turned out great obviously like it doesn't you're so excited when you get drafted I don't really think it matters like how the set what the setup is. Uh um there were a few Winnipeg people there, so I got to shake their hands and and uh and go to Winnipeg right after.

But yeah, we had a huge crew there. Um we were just 20, we were just about 23 people, I think, just family and friends coming from Sweden and and my old coaches and and uh yeah, we had a we had a great time. I don't, like I said, I don't think

obviously I think it I' I'd like the other setup better with the with the teams there and be able to shake all their hands and kind of feel part of the organization right away. Um, but agree like I like I said, you're just you're so excited. You don't it doesn't really matter.

Um, was Mike Keane is he a part of the Jets still? Mike Keane, the great Mike Keane. And and yeah, Kener, what a guy. Hey, was he was heard of you guys there in Winnipeg when you came in?

Yeah. Uh yeah, Ken Kenir is great. Obviously, he's one of our our development guys, so I talked to him I talked to him a good amount. So, um yeah, we got to Winnipeg and and yeah, they're Winnipeg's a great organization. They really take care of their players and and um yeah, at Dev Camp there, that's that's one of the thing they things they really preached. Our the owner came down and he talked to us and and yeah, they really really make you feel feel part of something there. They make you feel special when you're there and and um so yeah, I'm I'm really happy about it.

Sasha, a little hockey advice. You're ever in an awkward moment, you're ever talking to someone in the hockey world, you're like, I just I don't know what to say next. I don't know what to ask. Just ask if you know Kobe Armstrong. The guy literally knows everyone across league. We had they stopped doing the drafts in person because of guys like Kobe. Kobe just goes in. He just buzzes around. He's talking to everyone. Knows everyone. Guy just knows everyone. Oh yeah, especially out west there, buddy. Especially you need anything out west in Winnipeg, I got you covered. So, uh, a good a Swedish kid going from Sweden to Winnipeg, you should be fairly comfortable up in that city in the winter when you're playing hockey up there.

Born in Finland, right? Were you born in Finland? Carpat. Exactly. Yeah, that place up on a map.

Yeah. Yeah. Born in northern Finland. That was This guy grew This guy was born and grew up in a petri dish with a one of those sun lamps on him the entire time. So, you may need that in in in in Winnipeg as well.

There you go, buddy. Congrats on everything. Thank you. Congrats on the gold and maybe we'll see you in Vegas at the Frozen Four.

Hopefully. Hopefully. Yep. We'll we'll work on it. So, all right. We'll have our eyes on you, buddy. Yeah.

We'll see if we can get CBrini to come back and play in the Frozen Four again this year, too.

Well, yeah, he's he could. He's [ __ ] I mean, that that mess up by me is almost as bad as our next story, the lead story in the NHL. I I mean I I should play for the New Jersey Devils right now with that. So, um they're they're pathetic. They lost 9 nothing. Um are we going to even let them come on this episode or should we

Where's G? Get G in here. Get G in here. G what's the ruling as like the head director, producer? What's the title? But like you have knowledge of this. Is is he tapped out? Like do we need to give him Does Posh need like a day like a tapped out day? I think I tweeted about it last night. You tweeted about

I I hate Pasha. I hate him so much. And there's no one in the world I'd like to give [ __ ] to more.

But every tweet right now is like, "We agree with Pasha. We stand with Posasha." Devils fans are behind Posasha right now. They I think they all agree with everything he's saying. As crazy as that sounds, I I think they I think they agree with him. So, I think everything he's saying is is is like he's the voice of the fans right now. So, let's let's roll the disclaimer and we'll let him come on and give a a two weeks in a row a Devil's State of the Union address.

Warning, the following statements are about to be made by a deranged Devil's fan. The views expressed are his and his only. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt because remember, he is a Deranged Devil's fan.

There he is. Hello, gentlemen. Oh, wow. very reserved, dressed in all black, very sinister and evil.

Yes, sinister evil. Mourning the loss of a once great team. Um, yeah, just going back to Grenelli's point. I mean, saying that the Devils fans agree with me. If anything, like I'm late to the boat. Like, Devils fans have been calling for Fitzy's head for a while now, for Keep's head for a while now. I' I'm like one of the last ones on the fire Fitzy train. So, um, yeah, definitely the overwhelming majority is kind of is is in the same boat. Everyone's fed up. I mean, you saw it when they were booing Luke. That's kind of was a culmination of obviously two tough plays by him, but like just an overall frustration and then [ __ ] nine nothing. Like, I've never seen that before in my life. Like, what the what were we watching? And

you you've never When were you born, Posh? 92. So [snorts] that's the second time they've ever lost nine nothing scoring no goals. And the last time I I have it in my notes here. I think it was 1984 86. You know who the team that hung a nine nothing score on them back in ' 86? The only

I only know cuz I cuz I saw you type in the outline last night laughing. I'm typing in the outline. I'm I'm writing down all these facts. I'm finding Pasha comes on on the on the docs thing that we're writing on. His name pops up. Posasha with like a different color. He's like, "Fuck you, Army." 1986, New York Rangers hung a nine nothing win on them. That's how long it's been since uh

Yeah, there was a lot of crazy stats that come out. Another one, uh, in the under the hood era, that was the single worst goalending performance of all time by Jacob Marstrom since they started doing these fancy stats 20 years ago. So, that was unbelievable. But, I didn't like that by Keith leaving him in the whole game. I don't know what your guys thoughts are on that. Nine [ __ ] goals. It's ironic because it's it's with Patty Wah on the other bench is you know you hang this guy to draw with nine goals but it's like are you trying to just destroy that relationship with him and like in the post game he said he's like ah you know first few I wanted him to own it and then after that point I don't want to put Allen in there and blah it's like dude you you left him in there for nine [ __ ] goals like he obviously couldn't save a beach ball just put him out of his misery so not a fan of that amongst many many other

decisions that have been made with this team. Yeah, he's supposed to be your starter. You You got to get him out of there. Throw Allen in. Allen's the backup. He's the He's the He's probably only got a couple years left. Journeyman. Just throw him. You got to throw him into the Wolves. You don't You don't sacrifice your your guy like that. And I was just on here saying he's probably the starter for Sweden at the Olympics but

No. No. After that performance, I don't think so. No. No. Um, it's crazy. We've got a lot of things in the chat. Arrest Tom Fitzgerald in the chat. Keith is sending a message to Fitzy. Um, where'd it go? Posasha starting a Luke Hughes memecoin suit. Uh, arrest Tom Fitzgerald in the chat says Keef is sending a message to Fitz that the team is asked by leaving Marky in. There's a lot of narratives flying around Posasha about what's going on and you know everyone's our pets heads are falling off. No question in New Jersey world right now. Um,

I know where you stand on it. It's it's a mixed bag for you though, right? It's it's it is a little bit fitsy. It is a little bit what I tweeted last night contracts. Let's read this tweet.

So last night I tweeted, "I've seen enough. All aboard the Fire Fitzy train. He can split the cab fair home from Long Island with Keefe. Wake up Josh Harris, Jake Reynolds. This team is broken. Don't hire a new GM unless they have a foolproof plan to send Douge to the moon." Complete mockery. And

for people who don't know, those two names, Josh Harris and Jake Reynolds are the owners of the team. Uh yeah, team owner, team president. Yeah. So I don't know. People thought I was crazy for tagging them. I I don't think so. Like it's not like

our mostly our guys are I mean it's not it's not like I found their home addresses and like sent them a letter saying this. I mean they have public Twitter handles. So I'm going to [ __ ] [ __ ] tag them because I've heard rumors that the ownership is kind of hands off and they're more focused on the uh 76ers. So, I want I just, you know, I wanted all those notifications popping up letting them know that the fans are unhappy with the state of this team. And I've been a Fitz defender for a long time, but enough's enough. I'm on the fire Fitz train. I'm on the fire ke train. There's lots of blame to go around. This team is broken. They need a major change. I am shocked. Like last night, honestly, after it was like one, two, three nothing. I was rattled. But then after that, I was laughing. I was almost happy that it was 9 nothing cuz I would have much rather that than like a onegoal loss and things stay the same. I

was like, "Okay, this will finally be the strongest back." Yeah. Or so I thought. As of this morning, Fitzy's at the rink, Keith's running practice, and I'm like, "Are you [ __ ] kidding me?" Like, if that's not if that's not the straw that's going to break the camel's back, what is? So, I'm fed up. I'm at my wit's end. You got a guy like Pat. Palat was minus five in 9 minutes of ice time last night. How is that even possible?

And I said it last week, I've got all the time in the world for Palat. He's a veteran. But like, you're making six million bucks. like something's got to give. And some some people are on me like back off of Douge. Back off of Douggee. It's like [ __ ] no. [ __ ] no. I understand like he's not putting out points. Defensively, he's been so so. But this isn't just about like Douge in a vacuum. Douge on ice play. It's about what he's holding the team back from. It's like you think we'd be playing this poorly if we had another top six winger or another centerman or if we went and got Quinn [ __ ] Hughes. all things that he has hindered us to do because of blocking these two trades. So, no, I will not back down on Douggee. I will double down on [ __ ] Douggee. Wave your goddamn no trade clause and get out of town because this ship is collapsing and sinking and you are the anchor that is bringing it down amidst many other

anchors. You sound very um thoughtful in your in your disgust right now. I must admit. Um I I'd probably say right now Sings is the most normal um kind of Devils fans. Like yes, he's disappointed. He probably has his opinions, but he's still a Devil's fan kind of thing. I I see that over Frank the Tank is is

Frank the Tank is if you He was already, you know, Frank the Tank, but his I thought he was going to have a I thought he was I thought he was going down last night with that video. Just absolutely losing his mind today. Walking through New York City on a on a war path. He's on the war path.

That was crazy. One thing that you can have happen right now today that you wanted last night. You thought the straw would break a camel's back.

What's the one thing? Is it Douggee Hamilton? Is it the coach? Is it the GM? What's you could you can pick one that you want happening?

Uh right now I want uh I would say keep fired because I think that would provide the most immediate shakeup. Um, you know, if you fire Fitzy, then someone's got to come in, make the changes necessary. That's a longer process. I think most immediate change is fire Keith, bring in a new voice, a new system that's better suited to their playing style, their speed, and their skill style. Um, which Lindy Ruff was. Like that's why they're so successful under him. Uh, not that they like won Cops or [ __ ] but they were more successful than they are now in a very good rush team. That's what this roster is constructed for. So, bring in a coach that can maximize that, that's the immediate change. Um, but then right after that, like fire Fitzy. I have a feeling I have a feeling that Fitzy and Keith don't see eye to eye and ownership won't let Ke won't let Fitzy fire Keith.

That's kind of my own personal theory. Um, and which in which case ownership needs to just be like, you guys are both done. You guys are both done because yeah, I think there there there's so much blame to go around and both of them need to be held accountable.

Keep Keith sadly Let Fitz go. Who's There's There's Singy. Who would be your choice to take over? I got I got an idea who should take over coach or GM

as coach. Pety Dbor, baby. I would love Pety Dor behind the bench. Yeah. Favorite Devils coach of all time. Seems like a [ __ ] beauty. Took him to the cup finals. I would love Dbor behind the bench.

I was thinking they need I Michelle Tion. They need a guy like that to come in and just

whip them. Whip them. Whip them. And you got the talent, but they need to learn to play the right way. You get him in there.

Hey, Douggee, come see me. King that will that he he'll get Douggee to uh give up the trade clause.

Douggee will leave wrapped in a blanket shaking like uh Frank the Tank suggested this last night. Bringing Lou Lamarillo back as a GM, is that something you would be open to instead of Bitsy?

No, no, that in the wings there. Is there anyone in the wings there other than like

there's a guy uh Sunonny Meta is I believe how you pronounce his name. He's kind of like a this analytics guru.

He's a charts guy. He's a charts guy. He's a charts guy. Uh there's some talks that like, you know, fans want him to come in. Um, yeah. And listen, it's tough for Fitzy because like the guy hasn't had a fair shake. Like I've mentioned, like the last two years they've been so injured that the team hasn't really had a fair shake, but like it's gotten to a point now where like, you know, heads have to roll proverbbally.

No, no. Babs. Shanny would be nice. I wouldn't mind Shanny in there. Shanny reunion. Let's go.

No. No. Goomer. Lou and Goomer. Goomer is in the Chicago Steel. But it's interesting because Nemits is practicing now. So Nemets will be back very soon, maybe next game. Kovase Sevich is now back practicing. They literally have to clear cap space to get Kovich back on the roster like I think today, maybe tomorrow. Like ASAP, ASAP, ASAP. So changes have to come. And then I also think with those two guys being righties coming back in the lineup, [ __ ] sit Douggee Hamilton because I understand not sitting him right now with those two guys out and because it's like, all right, well, who was going to play? But when those two guys are back, [ __ ] sit, Douggee. Sit them. We don't need you. You want to [ __ ] sit there and watch or you want to play hockey?

Wave your goddamn no trade clause. [ __ ] But they have to move contracts and money around, right? To bring in the

to bring Savage back. Yes. So, what are you going to do with even if you sit him?

I don't know. They need money off the books. They're going to have to make some other kind of moves where some money kind of gets pushed around that.

Yeah. Well, that's a Tom Fitzgerald problem that he seemingly has not been able to fix. So, [ __ ] David Blitzer, Josh Harris, figure it out, man. Your team's in trouble. Wake up.

Yeah. No, you're gonna have to give away draft picks. No [ __ ] That's what I've been saying. These elite GMs do that. I don't care. Give up a first round pick. Two first bunch of seconds. Who gives a [ __ ] I don't care about the picks. You h you have to get rid of these these contracts. And you look at all the best GMs in the league. Yeah. Oh, [ __ ] contract I signed two, three years ago. Boom. Trade him to another team, attach a first round pick, get it off the books. Every other [ __ ] GM's doing it. Why can't Fitzy do it? There's a lot of contracts you sign at the time and give the no move, no trade, whatever it is that end up being good contracts because you were probably, you know, in your room like looking at your Devil's poster going, "Yeah, and there's tweets to prove it with Marstrom and all these other things that people were pulling up on you last night. I was watching um that end up becoming bad contracts

later on, you know, and that's that's that that happens in hockey as well when you sign guys to certain deals and it's like, okay, things changed a little bit, the plays dropped off, whatever whatever the team looks like. A good contract can turn into a bad contract. We've seen it lots of times. Devils in the mix of it right now. And I got I got bad news for you, Posh. Bad [ __ ] news. Tomorrow night coming to [ __ ] fivegame winning streak. Pittsburgh Penguins of Genny Malin looks like he's going to be returning to the lineup. Gino is back after missing a month. I saw him in practice yesterday.

He is buzzing. It doesn't m they could be playing the Greensboro Gargo last night or tomorrow night and get robbed. Like the way the way the team's playing right now, it doesn't matter who the Penguins have, what their win streak is. Like they they got bigger issues. They got to look inward. I just want to play devil's advocate here because you say you want to get rid of all these first round picks, second round picks to get rid of Douge. Right now, ESPN has a Devils ranked 25th as their prospect pool in the NHL. They don't really have a built prospect pool. So, I don't know if they can afford to be giving away first round picks and second round picks just to get a contract off the books.

Like, who do they have in the system? gives a but it's addition by subtraction because by getting those contracts off the books they can use that cap space to bring in win now players these picks to bring in win now players you got to make a trade to cuz you you're not signing them in free agency there's no big free a make a trade so if you get rid of your first and second round pick to get rid of Douge what do you have you have no prospects then you got no picks

well no I wouldn't say that's true between the next let's say three years they have three firsts and and how many seconds and whatever So you use all that to get guys off the books to trade assets. So yeah, you're you're going essentially allin and then I wouldn't say they have no prospects. They have Sheamus Casey, he has a lot of value. They have Anton Silv, he's a 67 defenseman. So they have like pieces. I'm not saying they're like, you know, incredible pieces, but they have valuable pieces. They have tons of picks the next few years. So yes, it's the time is now to push your chips in the middle. Trade this year's first, next year's first, three years from now.

trade multiple second round picks to get contracts off the books to replace that with competent players to surround the core which I still believe in to win now. That's the only answer. There's no more like, oh, we need a draft pick to in two years so he can pan out in five years. [ __ ] that. Go all in. Everyone's job is on the line. Go all in.

The thing is is like it's so funny cuz like I think a few years ago I picked the Devils to be in the final. Like they had they were kind of coming in.

Everyone did. everyone and they got they got Marstrom and it's like okay you know coming into the next year after that trade they're going to he's going to be solid they got this these young skilled guys Brat and Hughes and you go down their list and it's like okay they're missing some things but they they could be a team that could be there they could score they're exciting and now they're just getting [ __ ] it's it's it's awful

yeah but yeah but here's the thing like that core hasn't changed that core is still young that core is still very talented it's an elite core I still very much believe in them they're just being dragged down by what's around them by having [ __ ] palat playing topline wing by not having a third line center by having no depth. You know what I mean? So

this will be a multig issue. That's fits. That's fits. That's fits. Interesting.

All right. That's uh that's our devil's talk for today. Let's Has Teemo Meer been a disappointment in the chat? I see right here. This

Teemo's been very hot and cold. I mean like if I had to just say yes or no since they got him. Yes. But like I also hate his usage and that that comes on to Keefe. Like neither Meer or Gritsuk, the two best one-times on the team play on the first unit power play. So they don't use they don't use his shot. There's a reason that every year when Jack gets hurt and Teemo plays more ice time, he starts lighting it up. They call it Meyer March because Jack gets hurt late in the year and Meyer starts lighting it up. And last year in the playoffs, Meyer was their best player. So I'm not down on Meyer. I think that like he's a huge part of this team. He's a bull in a china shop. He's the kind of player they need when the the from the day they traded to for him till now. Like, yes, it's been a disappointment, but I still think he's problem. He's part of the solution going forward. He's not a problem. So, I'm still high on Teemo.

Okay. Signed, sealed, delivered, red, black, and white, and green, depending on if they throw back. Uh,

which they should also, by the way, bring the Christmas jerseys back. That's maybe that's what's the problem here. Yes, we need Meyer, Nico, and Mercer on a line and Meyer on PP1. Singy, the captain of the chat. Maybe the captain of all the fans as well trying to straighten this ship out. Sings, love you bud.

Yeah, I don't disagree. I don't Well, thanks for letting me get it off my chest boys.

We got it. That was very good. That was I I thought you'd be crazier. I'm glad we played.

I'm always headed, calm, insightful. Yes. under deep breathing like your buddy Biz who is the is probably the second biggest story of the night is as Brad Marsh's comments about Toronto. It felt like he was talking directly to Biz just getting in his head and now Biz is making videos chirping him and then Biz today finds a dead rabbit outside his house. He thinks Marian sent to him but that that's just it's it's wild what's going on between Marian the Leafs and Biz. But the Leafs got it done last night.

Yeah, they did. They played one of their better games, I think, from what I'm seeing. I was up here in Toronto. Got in last night, watched the game. Matt Sundine in the house for to honor Austin Matthews passing his Maple Leaf record uh goalcoring area. This guy's on fire right now, too. Austin Matthews is on fire. Just lighting up. What does he have like seven goals in his last four games, but he could have had like he could have had like eight last night. He was all over. He's all over it right now. He's a totally different player right now. whatever everyone was saying about him, he has found it and he is like leading the charge. Matthew Ny as well is in in the realm of of one of the better players going right now for like hits, goals, points as well in into a category. Yeah, he does it all and he's stepping into that as well. Um that was a big game rivalry game kind of against Yeah, I would say rivalry game for what

they are right now. Especially what Marian was saying before the game. He left the game dealing with an injury, didn't want to deal with it further, Maurice said. Um, but a very good structured hard style game that you have to play to beat Florida. The Leafs did that last night and and they got their big boy firing on all cylinders right now as well. So, pretty pretty nice game. And no knander. That's correct in the chat. I see you. Sahhat 99. Thank you.

Yeah. So, that looks good. Uh, the other team in Florida, Tampa Bay, they won again. Cooper thousand games coaching one team. fifth coach ever to do it. Closing in on 600 wins. They beat Colorado, which I mean that could be a Stanley Cup preview game right there. I like both teams.

They beat Colorado. They have eight wins in a row. They're absolutely on fire. Coupe has never won coach of the year. Merles

really never won it. Isn't that kind of crazy? I saw some videos coming out about John Cooper, too, and I've had a chance to meet him and uh get to know him. I love the guy. I love the guy. awesome dude and his his his origin story of coaching Merles is awesome. Like I saw like a tribute video with everyone talking about like where he came from and like Arkansas and like going here and driving Patty Maroon around in like a van to like all these teams where he started. He he's won every single place he's gone. Uh a lawyer, like just such an interesting guy, but he has a way of captivating people. He's a people guy. He has like a light about him that that draws you in kind of and he gives people belief I think. Um amazing he's lasted he's won yeah he's the fifth guy to join that kind of list of a thousand games with one organization. So congrats to Coupe Stanley Cup champ um World Cup like the

guy's Calder Cup like what's the next cup? Keep going down the cups. He's got it all. He's done it all and he's going to get Olympic gold here coming up in a month. So

[ __ ] right Scoop. Congratulations. And the other the other hottest team is the Seattle Kraken, which I I still can't believe. I I think I bet on them one time in this streak. Eight and two in their last 10. It it just I still can't believe in them. Am I crazy for not wanting to believe in them? Is there something there?

I don't either. How do they keep winning? I don't know. Murals, let me run through this win streak though here. Okay. They beat the Bruins. They beat the Calgary Flames. They beat the Vancouver Conucks. They beat the Nashville Predators. They beat the Canucks again, beat the Flyers, they beat the Kings, they beat the Ducks who were like, they're not beating the best teams right now. You know what I mean? This this is

I think this is a bit of a fluke. This the Seattle Crack are not a good hockey team.

They're not good. Like they they they rarely score. I mean, if it's not Macan or or or Ely, like no one's scoring really for them right now. Give a shout out to Saskatoon Berkeley Kton, their first round pick. Um first two goals of the season last night. He'd been old and dry for a while, Merles, but he got on the board finally last night. Little bad angle shot off the blocker and in on on Sway. Um he he was kind of deserving. He had some chances prior. I' I've watched some of their games and um has been unable to score. So, good for him.

Rookie guy getting his first goal. Luke Shen also scored last night. His first goal. Where's that in my notes here?

99 games. That should have been your slump buster cuz didn't we just talk about him too cuz he got scratched. They scratched

him. Toronto in game 1100 to play against a team that drafted him for,00 which is [ __ ] This team is sinking. They're the worst team in the league. They lose again last night but Shenner scores the first time in 99 games in game number 1100. Congrats to Shenner. Um but Winnipeg dear [ __ ] dear God. Bring up Sasha Boumedian.

Is he is he the next coach to go? He should be right. I would think. What a fall from grace. I know they've lost some players, no question, through the depth of their lineup.

Um, and I give us credit, Merles, because we talked about Shley Snub from Team Canada and who was it? I think Pasha brought up his defensive analytics. Uh, but like he has he can't play. He has to try to score. They don't score. Like he's in a totally different area of of trying to help their team than anything. They've got Hella Buck. He was injured for a while, but like they like I don't know what happened to this team. I don't know what happened. like Lowry, all these guys for the depths that used to be like solid kind of contributors and dangerous as well.

It's it's it's fallen off completely and and [ __ ] they're in big trouble. They're in big trouble, Merles. But congrats to Sher. Did

they win the president's trophy last year? They did. They won the [clears throat] president's trophy.

It's crazy. They're in dead last. They're in dead last. Well, basically the same players, right?

Pretty much. I mean, they lost Eers. Who else did they lose? Like, but that's nothing crazy. It's

guys, y you know, um, what other news? The Sabres won again there. Tage Thompson got a goal. Chicklets bump. We should all bet on that for the live goal scorer. Uh, Stars, Stars lose six in a row.

What is going on with them? Trying to find out where you are in our list here, buddy.

Yeah, I'm just We're everywhere. We had the Stankovven and Rantin game. Carolina won beat the Stars six in a row. They've lost.

Yeah, there we are. Everybody. So yeah, I like that. I like that we had the we had the Philly game. So we had the Goce Zegris game. Then this game was a Stanovven our guys better than yours than him. We like him better. Chance or whatever they were doing in Carolina for Stanhovven. He gets a goal. Ranton actually got a goal, too. So I kind of like that. I kind of like that that's heating up with fan bases over their guys and [ __ ] That's that's incredible. And I like I like seeing that kind of stuff. And then uh the last story of the night uh I don't know was it heat daddy or schmaltz started it. Oil verse the pres is the Diddy Bowl. Oilers won 62.

McDavid went crazy again and uh just those guys are creative. I'll give them that.

McDavid's second hattick of the year. Um 16 game point streak. 39 points in 16 games including 17 goals. I mean

this guy's a freak. this guy. He just continues to do it. What a run he's put together. I got to give a a shout out too. We kind of glossed over it with the New Jersey Devils talk. But um Siroken, most shutouts in Islanders history with 26, passing the great Chico Rash. Love Chico Rash. Awesome guy. He also set another NHL record. Siroken. So New Jersey has lots going on. Sroen forever is like their guy though. He's he's an absolute horse. He has the most NHL shutouts of 40 plus shots, which is seven. Um, so he set a record last night too. So a club record and an NHL record with that shut out nine nothing win last night just to pile on more on top of uh on top of Pasha Rangers Shurk and IR Fox back on Altir.

Pretty wild stuff. Uh seeing this in Rangers land um not great news for them. Not great news.

No no he got carried off. I was watching that when when he got carried off Shurkin. It didn't look good.

Yeah. Hayden Flurry, another injury last night. Did get carried off. Brutal. He went in so brutal into the boards. Thinking of him. That sucks to see that.

Do you guys think there's any chance that the Rangers sell at the deadline? I mean, I know James Dolan notoriously is like known for like not selling, but the way this season's going, you have a a pending UFA and Arti Paneran. You could really kickstart a rebuild and get things going if you trade our Tammy Paneran.

They could, but they won't cuz they're [ __ ] dumb. You You keep it to yourself over there. You got enough to keep you busy.

Well, they're three points out of the eight out of the second wild card spot. Like the thing is, everyone's like still in it. It's like close.

Well, it's like the Bruins are two two or three points out of the wild card and they're like two or three points out of last place in the East. So, it's like which way you going to go?

Yeah. So, everyone's kind of still in there. It'll go down. We got lots of time till the deadline. We'll see what happens with some of these guys and where things will go. That hurts the Rangers. Obviously, you lose those two guys, two marquee guys for them. Especially, I think you have to give it to Shurken at where he is as well, like what he means to that team. So,

uh keeping an eye on that. Merles NHL action last night. Yeah, a crazy night. A crazy night in the NHL. Uh, tons of stories. That was awesome. But, uh, time to move on. Time to move on. We got to go to the show Mindsy segment of the show.

And you're going to kick us off. You're going to kick us off with a show. I was throwing it back and forth with what I would do. We got this new dog at the house. So freaking cute, man. This guy. This guy is so cute. He's the best. Cruz's room taking Cruz's spot.

Yeah, he Yeah. Yeah, he has. He's like I think he's like 11 weeks old. So, he's just so cute. His hair is so cute. He looks at you. I just hear his feet running across for like he's coming. I walk in the door. He's so excited to see me since that's worn off on my kids a little bit. Uh this guy's like my buddy and that's his name. Buddy. Bud. What's up, bud? I love it. Great dog. But I have to go with last week when I was on the show and I was here for New Year's Eve. Merles. Um, it's not often because of the break and New Year's and Christmas that I had everyone home and they came up to Toronto with me, which was awesome. I gave them a little tour of the Sportsnet studio. Here's everybody there with me. My wife was taking the picture. She's not in that, but that's in the studio. We went for like we got to hang out, wheel around, pick up some food, eat a nice dinner, ring in the new year. There's Mel with

me there. And uh, I just had a great time. I've been traveling a lot, working hard, but it was really cool to have them with me. So, shout out to my family, show the kids, Mel, everybody. Awesome. Glad I got to spend New Year's with them while I was working and have a nice trip to Toronto. And shout out to Sportsnet for letting them all come in and get pictures and tour the studio. My kids thought that was just awesome. Um, yeah, that's my show.

Yeah, I mean, the you're the most traveled guy in all of hockey. It's absolutely insane. You're never home. It's crazy. Yeah. Shout out to Mel. She's an all-star. Sings he says in the chat. Call her up to the show. The family. Family time is great. Um, this holidays was crazy though. The way the days that how they fell like Wednesday, Thursday, then it was the weekends. It was just I I need a break. I need a break from all those festivities. But uh let's go uh to Pasha for a show.

Uh I have no show. Um nothing nothing makes me happy. Nothing's good. Hockey sucks. My life sucks. No show. Next question.

All right. G, what do you got for us? So, uh, we were lucky enough to interview one Tom Brady this weekend and it was, uh, this past weekend we went down to Miami. We got to interview Tom.

Probably like the coolest thing I've ever done in my entire life. Like, we used to like we used to have like a Tom Brady shrine in my college apartment for this guy. I was almost kicked out of my college graduation cuz I was so drunk and it was he had just been suspended. So, I was yelling free Brady non-stop. So, I love this guy so much. He was such a cool guy to meet. He signed my jersey for me, too. And like we told him that he was like, I was obsessed with him and all this stuff. So, he signed it, Mike, my bestie. Which was so [ __ ] cool.

Like, I've gotten more texts about this Brady thing than anything. All the kids that I went to college with like commenting on it being like, "Holy [ __ ] you finally did it. You finally got to meet Tom Brady." So, like, calling Noble, calling Tom Brady, Kevin Bonner, everyone who made this thing happen. calling them up to the show because this was so [ __ ] cool, boys. And it was so sick right before I was like, right before the interview started, Kevin, his guy was like, "Hey, Tom, like Mike's a huge fan. Mike's a huge like big big Patriots fan." And I just panicked and I was like, "Yeah, no, I would die for you." And he's like, "Oh yeah, thank you. Thank you." And I was like, "No." I go, "No, Tom." Like I'll I'll kill for you. If you need someone killed, I'll kill them. I'll do anything you say. you snap and I'll do it.

And he liked it. He got a little laugh out of it. So, I was uh I was just so excited. But it was so cool, man. Like meeting Tom Brady boys.

That's cool. I got a question for you. That's so cool. And seeing the picture, too. Like how tall he really is cuz Biz and Whit are really tall and he's like towering over them. Just how big of a specimen he is as well and good-looking and like I mean he just eats almonds. He looks so young. But a goat for you interviewing and you've gotten to do a lot of cool interviews. getting him being where you're from, being what he means to you in your life. But I I I love Wayne Gretzky. Like you guys got to interview Wayne Gretzky as well. That was your best moment though is Tom Brady over Wayne Gretzky.

No question, man. Like my whole life, like all I've ever known is winning football because of Tom Brady. Like six six Super Bowls in New England. like my whole like we used to have like Tom Brady day at school where like everyone in the school wears a Tom Brady jersey and it was like

he was my whole life like he he has given me more happiness than anyone in my life could even come close to this guy

remember those prostars commercials back in the day was like Bo Jackson, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky and they had like a cartoon about it with serial and and everything and then it was awesome. Like if they did that now, like he's one of those guys. Like he is like 100% that guy in the Pro Stars commercial when we were growing up. So I don't blame you. Okay, that's awesome.

And like Gretzky was so cool for me. It's Wayne Gretzky. Like that was the coolest thing. But to me, I'll be honest with you, like Sydney Crosby kind of did it for me a little more cuz I don't

I don't I didn't get to grow up watching Wayne Gretz, right? It was it was more of like the lore and like he he was like this like mysterious guy because it's not even like highlights were so readily available of Wayne Gretzky. It's like it wasn't that easy to watch Wayne Gretzky for me growing up. Sydney Crosby when we like when we went out to dinner with Sydney Crosby after we interviewed him. That was like whoa. This is

this is crazy. All right. I like it, G. That's good. I liked how I liked how you were you were really dressed up for Brady, too. I could I could tell you you brought out that you had the Miami shirt on. You had the panic. The panic I had in picking an outfit for this interview. Everything. Do I do hair gel? Do I go no hair gel? Do I wear a shirt? Right before I go to I put on my white jacket, giant espresso martini stain on it. I'm in a full panic facetiming Alana. What do I wear? What do I wear? So, I just went with the classic Miami shirt. And I did get a question in on the Brady interview, so I'm excited for it to come out.

Libby Mr. says, "I'd kill for Sid." So, she's in your boat as well. Check out. Oh, we got room service.

Get in the boot. Oh, that's his room service. Probably. He's probably ordering.

No, I'm out of here. I got to train. I got to train in an hour. We got to move this along here. I got my show is going back to the start. It's a Royal Junior Swedish um show. Their their prospects. St. Louis Blues had two prospects. Love H. You love when I say these names. Love Harrento, best goalkeeper, gold medal and then the check, they had the check dman, Adam Jurisk, one of the best defenseman. And those are both St. Louis Blues prospects. So

show for the Blues in their scouting staff cuz this goalie, he plays in the second league in Sweden. So really kind of unherald guy that is uh is going to be a great goalie.

Way to go. Yeah, that's good. So call up the Blues scouting staff to the show. But uh moving over to the Mindsies Army, what do you got? I I I I got to go to this like like if you're on if you're a guy and you're like piping off or whatever like it's kind of crazy if you're like a president. I don't really know like exactly what you are but like Maduro getting captured in three minutes in your own country like

like is that not mindsies if you're in your own country and you get you get captured in three minutes in your own country that's so mindsies that is absolutely minesies. US and Trump just went in there and just three minutes it took them like capture the flag three like that's even hard to do in like a gym with like your buddies like that's crazy but uh yeah shout out to our forces that did that.

Um I heard Pasha might hire them to take Fitzy out Fitzy out in three minutes or Douggee Hamilton.

They'll do it quicker than that with the Devils. I mean it's unbelievable. you going in there? Like that's three minute capture and and out of there. Like he's wearing a like a Nike tracksuit or like like I was like holy [ __ ] Incredible. Shout out to those guys that did that. So three minute capture. Unbelievable. US military is the best from Singi. Fighting force the world has ever known. No question. They just proved it with that. No question. Unbelievable. Three minutes. Maduro.

Wow. Maybe that show. Maybe that show like Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He could have had both. It could have been both. Show and mindsies. But uh let's get Posasha in here for Mindsies. I got a feeling I know where this will go. Uh my mindsies. I'll keep it quick. Josh Harris, David Blitzer, Tom Fitzgerald, Kate Madigan, Sheldon Keefe, Douggee Hamilton, Andre Palat. All of them too. The Mindsies. [snorts]

Who is the minor league team of them these days? Is it Udica? Not the Udica. They suck.

Is it still Udica? Yeah. Wow. Yeah, they bounce around all the time. They should have to go play in Bingmpington.

What's Gone? Back to Bingmpington. Well, they're going to suck even more when Pasha trades away all the [ __ ] first, second, and third round draft picks over the next five years to get Douggee Hamilton off the books. But, uh, I'm going to call anyone to the minds who still is on this [ __ ] train that fighting is bad for hockey. that [ __ ] tilt last night. Revo, Olivier, center ice, heavyweights just chucking [ __ ] bombs. Watching that, you you're like, "All right, this is this is the sport I fell in love with. This is so much fun."

Two heavyweights, two guys that just [ __ ] love to chuck them. So, I'm calling anyone to the minds that is on the train of fighting is bad for the sport cuz these this was [ __ ] awesome.

Me, too. Me, too. 100%. Great call, G. And we didn't even cover that. Yeah, those guys squared up. I was like like like we all know Revo is a bad man.

[ __ ] seeing Olivier stand there like a brick [ __ ] house. The way he looks when he's like squaring up. I was like, "Oh my god." And then I never seen Revo like Revo's usually like a tie up. He grabs his hands, his wrists, he throws a punch, throwing you around.

The guy throws, he counters. He's like a counter guy. He opened it up and was just swinging with like that was insane. Two super tough dudes. A lot of respect right at center ice. Um yeah, a lot of respect for those guys. [ __ ] rights. That was nails last. That was nails. Unreal. Um my mindsies was just last night. It was really strange at the start of the game. The Zamboni came back out after the anthems and just shaved down the middle of the ice without putting any more water down. And

too much water. Like it was so weird that they just shaved and didn't redo it the whole thing. And I was just that was mindsies for me. like this is the NHL. We got to have good ice, especially when we're looking for goals like that. So, um, mindsies for that. I don't I didn't get the whole story on it, but can't leave the ice like that. It's the NHL to start a game.

Yeah, I saw your video last night. Crazy. Hey, so weird. Yeah. So, that that's minds for me.

Have the update. We got We haven't done it the last couple weeks. Let's quickly do the Game Notes Cupdate and the 99 trophy. I've been getting some messages. People want to see where the standings are. So, let's pull them up right here. We got the first one, the 99 trophy. Pasha, something for you to be happy about.

Finally. Finally, something to smile about. My team's a goddamn wagon. At least one of my teams is a [ __ ] wagon.

My team's a joke. Army, you stink. Sorry. Can we We should add your World Junior points for Misa to that. Total.

Yeah, seriously. Is he even going back to Well, where's he going right now? That's a question I have.

Well, hey, Merl's you don't I mean, you got Isaac Howard. He's playing in Bakersfield. No, he just he just got called up. I saw I think he got called back up. Yeah, give me his AHL points.

Yeah, he's back up. I saw that, too. He's going to be buzzing. The Iceman. What a bad pick by me. Holy [ __ ] All my guys are either hurt in a slump on a bad team or or going back to junior or something like, let's go. Leon and Suzuki are my only hopes. Really?

Yep. All right, next one up. We'll do the Game Notes Cup. I gotta be still leading this thing with my Minnesota Wild pick. I had the ABS. Look at that team just running away with it.

My Ducks are slow. The Ducks have been been slowing down though. But the Islander they've lost. Yeah,

the Islander pick was late. I'm pretty sure they got that one late and they they've been awesome,

dude. I got the Jets. That's a battle. You and Pasha down there for a B army. You could lose both of these.

I could lose. I mean, it was just I mean, [ __ ] Jets, I got Misa. I got it all. Yeah, everything's coming up army right now. Yeah, freaking race. All right, here we go.

So fun. Well, those are the updates for that. That's always fun to do. And I think we're still waiting for a punishment for the Game Notes Cup. But the punishment, we will see Army on the ice doing the 99 stats.

What does the winner of the 99 trophy get? That's the real question. Yeah. Wow. like like one of those videos from from Gretz like congrats you won like what they call

a cameo from Tomo All right, let's move on. We're move on. We'll have to figure that out. We might need the chat to help us out with that. We got games, we got picks, we got games tonight, Merl's five games tonight. Uh what are you uh zoning in on? I will be on Calgary Montreal tonight on Rogers Sports Net Wednesday Night Hockey up here in Toronto in studio pregame intermission. What are you looking at?

Yeah, so I like that. I I I didn't know you were doing that game, but I'm already on that over. I like the over six and a half there. Anytime Montreal plays, I'm rooting for goals. I I love the way they're playing right now. My other game is Washington money line. Look for Dallas to keep this losing streak going. I'm I I like to ride the runs. I'm going to fade Dallas and and see if they can lose seven in a row. And then my Kings three-way. Um I'm not a huge Kings guy usually, but I think this is a great spot for them to win Kings three-way tonight in the late game.

Awesome. Only five games. It's kind of kind of boring. And then we kick it up a notch tomorrow night. Merles,

tomorrow night. Let's go Thursday night. What do we got? 12 games. Yeah. So, I I love Detroit. Detroit's playing great at home versus Vancouver. Take them three-way. It'll be a decent line for that one. And then I just saw them last night. Philly. I I mean, they're playing they're playing back and forth hockey. So, Toronto at Philly over six and a half. I'm gonna stick with that theme. And I'm gonna and and then the same thing. I saw Anaheim play last night. They're just playing running gun.

Uh Carolina can score. I think they're I think Carolina's going to beat them up pretty good. So, I'm going to go over six and a half there. And then out west going to Colorado off a loss. I think they lay they lay lay the lumber to Ottawa ABS minus one and a half. they get back on the winning winning ways and uh I'm excited to watch that game

on home ice too like they're [ __ ] luck I'm going to be watching we talk about them all the time the Colorado announcers I love them so

and if you want to keep track of anything as well New Jersey is in Pittsburgh tomorrow night I'll be on the call back in Pittsburgh

should I add that I might have to add that play just to to keep keep kicking Pasha while he's down

yeah you might have to add that in there buddy you want to um you want to you want to show our your college rankings people in chatter saying no college or CHL rankings. I I I think we have those ready.

Yeah, college is getting going again. They're off break to them. We'll get get them back. Here we go. G, what do we got? Michigan still number one.

Michigan still number one. Wisconsin, keep an eye out. Chick may have boots on the ground there soon. But one team I wanted to shout out Princeton.

Princeton. Princeton's a team they beat Dartmouth. They're on a fivegame heater right now. They beat RPI in that. I think they have RPI this weekend, too, right? Uh maybe maybe I haven't

I believe they do, but that Princeton team is is they look like a pretty good team coming out of that uh ECAC. So keep an eye on Princeton. BC's heating up in the second half, but mostly not much change from the first half to the second half. I I I really like this Wisconsin team though.

Yeah, they look great. Uh got to got to I mean I I was down in the dumps on Maine, but Benny Bar, he went out to Denver. He took two games from them out there. So, you know, he he we talked to him at that chicklet. He said maybe it's going to be a second half team. He's like, I got a so many new players like everybody else. But even just talking to uh Sasha from BEu saying how things change

second half. Let's let's put Maine back on our radar. Princeton also, I'm being told from Johnny Lazarus, undefeated at home this season in the Hobie Baker Arena. So, that's pretty cool.

That is really cool. Yeah, that's awesome. Do we have the junior stuff up there? worst visiting room when I played there in Princeton. I remember our coach came and kicked over the

for the periods and just flooded the entire locker room. Good memories. Wow. Yeah. It's a small barn. Small old barn.

Yeah. So brutal. Here in the CHL, we got some crazy movement like forever. It's been um

um who in the OHL was had been up there forever. Um Bmpton. Brford. Bmpton. Brford. Yeah. Right there. They're at fifth now. I don't know if it was because of World Juniors and they lost some guys. Maybe they had some struggling weeks here, but they dropped down to fifth uh and will likely be moving up. Prince Albert just made a huge trade for that Braden Coots, Vancouver's first overall pick for like 12 different parts and pieces. Of course, we know Cruz got traded. They the trade deadline is coming up.

What are we doing here, Army? I mean, number one has to be Swift Curry. It's a team that's looking out for their future. They

This guy's a legit journalist. Yeah. Come on. Yes, Swift current will be something to keep an eye on in the next few years. No question as it is our team to watch now in the CHL. Uh Medicine Hat crazy. They lost their entire first line last year as they went to Memorial Cup. There they are. They're surviving somehow. They're into the top 10. Windsor, Flint, Edmonton, um and uh we see Everett who's forever in the top 10 it seems like every single year. and Shudami in the queue. Congrats to them on the power rankings in week 15 in the CHL. We'll be keeping track on their road to the Memorial Cup in Colona, British Columbia.

I like that we're talking to some uh Canadian juniors armed because I believe it is time for the slump busters and we are staying up north in the junior ranks this week,

buddy. All right, play the thing. If you're in a slump and you need a bump, who you gonna call? Slump busters. The Slumpbuster has been scouring. The Slump Buster is going to do his first team slump bust, Merles. I don't think I've done that, right?

I don't think I've done a Slump Buster for a team yet. But I am looking at S the Sarnia Legionnaires of the GHL. The goal, the goal up in Ontario, tier 2 junior hockey. This team, Sarnia, dear God, look at this. Are on a historic run this season. Currently 0 and31, zero points, a one minus 158 goal differential. They have 47 goals for, 205 goals against. Uh, this guy's invested. I'm invested as well. Let's go, Sarnia. I am all behind them. Tomorrow night, Sarnia takes on Thursday at home against Strathroy. Strathro. I want this barn packed. I want this all happening. I want everyone there to support these guys. Look, they've got a team. I I look at the roster. They got 12 to like 15 rookies up and down this team. They have a couple rookies leading their team in points. It's been a tough go. Boys, I want to say to you, the slump buster is with you in Sarnia.

Tomorrow night is the night we get this done. We pack the house. Head coach Mike Bondi, we are with you. Game notes is with you. The slump buster is coming for you. We're getting our first win. Lay it on the line. Block shots. [ __ ] desperation. I know it's hard. 31 losses in a row. It's brutal. Your confidence has to be down. We're changing that. Good vibes tonight. Good vibes tomorrow. Head to the barn. Town Sarnia. Come out. Support the boys. Legionnaires. Get these boys going. and they're going to get their first win. They're going to [ __ ] stomp on this Strathroy team on on home ice and we're going to get it done. Let's go, boys. Slump busters coming for you. You've been targeted.

That's a good sign. That's good vibes. We're snapping this thing tomorrow night at home. All right, Mike Bondi, you got it. Get the boys going. We need this. Those young fellas, get in there. Puff out the chest. Get skating. Pucks on net. Grind it out. Get ugly. Doesn't matter. We got to get it done. Merles, what do you think?

I love I love the chat. Libby, she's always good. Finally, finally found a more garbage team than the Devils.

No, I'm with these Sarnia kids, man. They got a lot of young kids, like 16. Get it going.

They've had some 15y olds play for them. I think it looks like they got like so many rookies. These are young kids in this league. Probably a pretty tough league. So, let's get it going, boys. Tomorrow night's the night. Slump buster.

I don't care. Drop the myths. Drop the plays going and get the win. I love that arm dog. Great way to end the show. We're going to get them going. Got to thank the chat as always, keeping us in line, giving us info, giving us laughs. Thank you so much. Shout out to our sponsors. Body Armor, you know, Body Armor, we're Body Armor. I got the water here. I'll probably grab one of the one of the sports drinks in the in the train station on my ride home. Can't wait to get out of here, get out of Philly. Pockets are full from Chasing Goals.

Thanks to Elio and PJ last night. Your brother for the tickets, the flyers, everybody down here. Thank you. Remember, find us Apple, Spotify, subscribe, comment in the YouTube. What else? Arm dog,

I love it. Uh, next show next week, uh, we might have to adjust. I will be on the go again next week. Middle of the week.

Surprise, surprise. Yeah, I'll be in Atlanta next Wednesday. So, uh, I got to go from a thing the night before to Atlanta the next morning. I got to work on that. Uh, so stay tuned for maybe it might be at 12 if I can get in there early enough. It might be at like 1:00, I hope. Okay, so be patient with me. I'm hoping I can I can make it work though. I I I'll grind my ass for the people. I'll grind my ass for the chat. Game notes, we love you guys. Merles, great job. Great work.

Um, last thing before I go, go Bills. We're going to win this week. We're going to win the Super Bowl. Just so you know.

There it is. Have a great week, everybody. We love under. Under. No goals. No goals. It's time to check the game notes. I think we're going to have the show of the year here. We're almost having magical moments here.

Show Mindsy's time. Army show start us off. What an opportunity. Another idea by me. Everything's Mo's idea.
