Me and Ryan have been officially welcomed to the jungle. That is basketball school sports.

I uh brought it toward the Coyotes and I asked him if it was okay if I joined the Spit Chicks podcast full time.

Ryan Whitney got a pink Whitney out there now. Get that on camera. And Gand is a full-time member. Marley just got from Chris B. Whoa. We're buzzing right now.

What is up, folks? Welcome to episode 610 of the Spit and Chicklets podcast and the [clears throat] last one on YouTube. The last Yeah, I guess you were people without YouTube right now. Just getting dummy in the face. But thank you everyone for tuning in. Thank you so much. Shout out. We got a lot to get to. Shout out Pink Whitney. Take your shot with Pink Whitney. The Fiesta Ball. Biz already told me pink Whitney was everywhere. The tail little nips. You know, you'd like to throw the nips away in the trash, but you do see them on the ground.

I talked a few in my Forzy walked in past security and was handing out during the game inside. Yeah.

Pink Whitney bomb. Yeah. So, okay. Um, that's awesome. Shout out Pink Whitney. Take your shot with Pink Whitney. Thank you so much to them. And thank you so much to everyone who drinks and consumes.

Can we just take over the Jagger bomb with the piss piss Pink Whitney bomb? Piss Whitney. Pink Whitney bomb.

So, Bis, long long 24 hours. What's going on, boys? You deserve a medal of honor.

All of a sudden, just in the middle of one of the most electric media days um I've seen in quite some time, particularly with Bar Stool Sports, Danny Boy, Kane, Mincy, you host all these guys, a cast of characters, you're cooking for them, you're feeding them. just ba basically the genuinely nicest thing you've ever done. I'd say

I might be up for the Nobel Peace Prize. Yeah. Yeah. No. Um Oh, well. Okay. So, we do have like probably what 50 60% of our fan base and listeners who aren't really tapped in that much to the bar stool world. So, we have to be fair here. I don't even really know how this began. I'm going to put it on on your plate with it's I think it derived from the yak originally in the fact that Mincy this bar stool character I'll hand it over to you.

Yeah. So I I don't know. So uh Tate Ohio's Tate is is a is a guy at Bar Stool. Don't know how it it came about that he was just going to follow him. I know Mincy wanted to go to this this Old Miss Miami game. He's an old Miss maybe alum. I I'll say it right away. Mince is a [ __ ] [ __ ] a complete joke. Um, his content is like he's he's just like dumb and moronic and and kind of selfish and stuff, but people love him, I guess. But he's not like trying. I think it's

he's known as a freeloader. A big time freeloader. What's the word that they used? Uh, Bond

boondoggle. He boondoggles is is one of the terms that they they describe him as.

Okay. And the reason also they sent Tate along with him is when he goes on these quote unquote bar stool work trips where he doesn't do a lot of work. He's freeloading.

He's basically he's basically just partying on others people's dime but yet collecting a salary

from Barcel. So they send Ohio Tate with him to capture everything. Well, maybe one of the best decisions the company's ever made. and he documented this guy's entire trip uh uh to the Fiesta Bowl in which Old Miss the he's a huge old miss guy actually went to university there I believe graduated

I I mean h how don't know I think he went there when it wasn't really a lot of miss people I don't think they're big Mintz fans cuz if that's the guy out representing your school it's kind of like I don't want to send my kids there necessarily

I don't know he's got a lot of pride for it Oh, he does. He knows the chance with um

Oh, he knows the chance and and just the fact that um there's obviously been this buildup. It's been their best season ever. They're they make the playoffs, which is like it's been expanded to, I believe, 12 teams now in the college football race. I know we got a lot of a lot of hockey fans here listening. And then their their big time head coach who's up for contract at the end of the season or had an opt out clause decides

he was signed. He was signed decided to leave. He just because he has an opt out decides to leave to their biggest rival for an even bigger bag in which who we got to FaceTime before the game as we are going there. So this last 48 hours for Mincy has been off the rails. Uh Tate has done an incredible job documenting the whole thing. And then I think once again it derived all from the yak big cat like who who are the whole I mean there's a big crew

Nick Brandon Titus. I think that's that's the crew. Yeah, there's people in and out. I think they just bring on Mincy to just make fun of him like once a week.

Does he live in Chicago? Mincy, he lives out of people's like vans and houses wherever he's boondoggling to. It it it stemmed because they didn't want to stream the game with Mincy, too, cuz they were like, "All right, if we send him to the Fiesta Bowl, he's not going to be here hanging out with us while we stream the game." So, that was a big part of it as well.

Let's put him on Biz so we can enjoy the game. Exactly. Biz Canadian. He's [clears throat]

And this is why I love Bar Stool. Everybody gets together in order to help our boy Mincy where it wasn't just me. Rigsy was originally going to host him. I think it was going to be for the two nights and Rigsy had something going on. He couldn't go to the game, but was nice enough to take um him in. He set up a dinner for him after his party at um the bar stool, Arizona, where he brought brought him to Oceanceans Mastro Mastro's Ocean Club. What is it called, Yans?

Yeah, Ocean Club. Ocean Club. And the cook stayed there late. They brought out some fancy dessert for him. He host him that night. And then the next day I ended up taking them over. And

well, you left out some things here. I'm sorry to interrupt you, but if I'm sitting with my wife or a couple, you know, some couples were joining and and that and that guy starts doing that old miss hottie totty. He's screaming out the restaurant in the restaurant.

I mean, I'm ask I'm asking, can you kick this guy out of the restaurant? I'm trying to enjoy a steak. I haven't been out to dinner with my wife in a couple months. And now I got this clown yelling and screaming. the night before um one of the funniest uh sidebyside picks I've ever seen where Mity had a girl come um she was talking to him and it was like I'd ra I'd rather be in Nam uh like get this guy away from me and then there's Biz and Biz is talking to her and she's got she's got a smile that could brighten up anyone's day. She's loving life and then she took the jacket off uh sitting next to Biz. Um so question asked did you steal Mincy's girl?

So th this derived build I think he like he got her a VIP table so she showed up. I don't know how that was facilitated. She was facing a little bit of backlash for putting Mincy in a tough spot of of thinking that she was probably going to bring all girls with her and then it was literally she was the only girl and it was just like seven or eight dudes.

It was also one of the guys that came at Portoi last week from a rival media company.

So it wasn't just like a group of random guys. It was like a rival media company where one of the guys attacked Porto like last week.

But that but that's like Keith um getting a shot through from the point. It's like me snapping a nice tape totape breakout pass. It's like you dumping one in right when you get over the red line biz. That's nothing. That's Mincy. That's what this guy does. He [ __ ] up.

That's part Yeah. That's like the bare minimum. Like that's not even that bad where I don't even think Dave cared that much about that part. Uh but yeah, and it was uh so I ended up meeting her. Her name's Kelsey Freeze. She does this cool social account where she's an Old Miss fan, but it's called like Wives of the SEC. So she mimics each of how the wives like talk and their southern accents and like what they're about. Like some of the some of the fan bases moms are the more pompous moms, like the more chill moms who have no expectations that are just happy to be there or the Vanderbilt um the wives. Is this true? Are you aware of like all how all they are?

You're telling us about this? So I don't know who's married in college. No, no, no. Like I it's called wives of the SEC. Maybe it's just the the fans wives

coaches fans. Like it's called wives of the SEC. So, um, but she was she was very nice. And I actually followed her a few weeks prior to even meeting her. So, it was just kind of it it ended up just lining up. Why do you have that grimace on your face?

That's No, I just I didn't know you'd followed her prior. That's funny how things work.

Did you steal her from Mincy? Is this true? I don't think Mincy ever had her. I know I asked the question, but

but no, like we just we were just chatting and I I was there for 35 minutes. I dropped off some door prizes for Mincy's big night at Bartool, Arizona. He did the hottie totty chant. We got on the mic and then I went home because I wanted to save up my energy for the next day which was which was yesterday and the chaos that ensued. Mincy all day Danny Danny boy Kane who I I didn't even realize this person was a person until yesterday morning when Big Cat's calling me. Do were you aware of who this guy was

for for a long long time? Keith actually learned this morning on a text thread with me, him, and Dave.

Yeah. For people who don't know, Danny Boy Kane, he's been around for 20 years. Um,

Survivor Survived the Bear. Well, he No, he's there was all there was a a video many many years ago. Biz 20 years. Um, where he's discussing the dirty, disgusting, salacious rumors that he had the swine flu, was attacked by a bear. None of it was ever true. It was It was complete nonsense. and it was an absolute it was a joke. Um, not one iota of it was true

and he made that clear and he's a diehard Miami Hurricanes fan and I think Dave's basically dreamed of kind of employing him and their relationship has gone up and down. I think it's Dave's favorite person he's ever seen or met on the internet. He's been doing it for quite some time. So, when I found out knowing the history of Danny Boy Kane, uh, and his big game shoes, those big game shoes he had on, those Miami Hurricane shoes, just so good,

when I heard that he was coming, he was going to be at your house, I'm like, this is unreal. Like, Biz gets to hang with this guy. And he didn't disappoint. And I I think maybe my favorite moment of the internet in a long, long time was the phone call you did with Lane Keifin. It was a FaceTime and typical Mincy didn't tell the guy he was being filmed. didn't tell him it would be posted to the internet like a complete [ __ ] and Lane Kein wasn't happy. So when you guys realize that there's a clip of you saying do you think this is bad ju guu before the game cuz mince he's down bad the whole card's down bad and I don't know if you got a can we show Danny boy Kane shrug because he knew

he texted you. Yeah. What did he say? Watch Danny Boy at the end. I'm not happy that you asked me to talk to him and you guys videotaped.

What does the text say? That's crappy. You asked me to talk to him and you got a video posted.

It is crappy. Shitty move. I just assumed he knew. I assume he knew. Wait, how did you guys switch seats? Hold on.

[ __ ] Watch this. Juju before the game. Just so small. Just a little one. But I was thinking it. You just said it. And Miami comes out on top. And Danny Boy Kane is a winner. And Mity is done. send him back to the office where the whole office hoped that Old Miss won. So he'd just go right to Miami. He was going to stay with Keith the week leading up to the national title game. So

another thing too, Danny Boy Kane goes into Old Miss's section like he was in the

that was the eye of the storm, right? So all the Miami fans were on the other side and if I it was an interesting thing. I'd never been to a big big [clears throat] college game like that.

Pretty crazy. to see like all the Miami fans across and when they would get a first down or when they would score a touchdown and the uproar, I will say the the University of Miami one, although they didn't have as many people there, it felt more violent. Like it felt like

they're a violent team. They're a [ __ ] defense. It felt like if you walked by their concourse on the other side, there's a possibility you might get knifed. Like that's not in a bad way, but like in a fandom way. That's how intense they are. Where I feel like Old Miss is more of the fan that gets knifed and then they sue you because their dad's the lawyer. That's kind of the big

Well, the kids in front of you guys were I mean that that's a kid. Those are kids that I I I thought right away I I can't let my kids end up, you know, I'd love them at an SEC school. Being in a fraternity is probably cool. I can't have them be like these kids sitting in front of Danny Boycane. And the fact that those kids ended up on the wrong side. I don't know if we could show those kids.

Oh yeah, one of the kids looks like someone. I can't think of it. I think you'll know. But these kids and you had left them and all of a sudden big our group. You got to get back over there.

That was me doing the pounding motion. There's a picture of that kid right in in in Danny Kane's face, right? And he's they're getting obnoxious. And that's kind of how we had a we had I believe we believe four tickets and then three tickets. And one of the parts if you weren't following it along online and some of you who don't follow Bar stool are like oh bar stool bar we love bar stool. Bar stool has provided us everything that that I've ever gotten on the media side of my life or at least to start to propel whatever we've done and they do some like so many amazing things and they have a [ __ ] enormous following. So on the way throughout Mincy's travels, um there was a gentleman who like basically saved him a seat on the flight and his name is Chris. He doesn't live in Arizona, but he travels here or or maybe he does and then he travels away, but I believe he lives away and travels to Arizona for

bi-weekly treatments for stage 4 brain cancer that he has. So he was being documented as part of, you know, holding the seat. Mince he ends up making his flight to be able to even get here. So because this Chris gentleman and they found out his story became a part of the journey, they invited him and got him tickets to the game. So I ended up sitting with myself, my buddy Joey Superstein and Chris

who is this guy battling for his life and then yet helping out Mincy. So this is why it's all kind of fun and this the internet is a very special weird place. So, he ends up coming over to my house and hanging out pregame. And then, uh, Big Cat, who pretty much helped facilitate and start all this with the Yak and all those guys in this crazy thing. He goes, "This shirt that Chris showed up with, he printed the shirt of Mincy, passed out on the flight next to him, he's the one to the left of him, wore it on a shirt to our pregame as a bar stool fan." Like, nobody told him to go print the shirt. He he went and rushed to go do it his own time and energy. So Big Cat says, "We're going to print those shirts on Bar Stool. We're going to put them up and all the proceeds are going to go to Chris." I think by the time kickoff happened,

Chris and his family got over $100,000. And at this point, I think it might it might be like double that. I don't know what the number

I haven't bought my hundred shirts yet because I want that shirt. I want to wear Mincy sleeping face down like that.

Yeah. So you're That's what I think of. But that's what Bar stool does, right? and and Yan's like it it provides these fun viral moments of of chaos yet along the journey you meet the fans of bar stool and then and then big cats giving back and changing this guy's life. This guy's married and he's got a one-year-old. Like I don't know how much time this guy's got left. I don't know what what more what uphill battle he's got left. We got into a little bit yesterday, but I won't share too much detail. But that was one of the things that ended up happening. So I sat with Chris and and Joey and then next thing you know I got Tate going, "Hey, we got [ __ ] going down over here and these Old Miss kids are are are in his grill." So I'm glad you you brought up those kids.

But uh because it made me think of Chris, but just a wild game. I ended up leaving after half. A lot of people were criticized. How could you

how could you leave that? You don't care. I first of all, unreal game, unreal experience. I didn't want to get caught in the [ __ ] knowing I had to get up this morning at six o'clock and do a bunch of other work that I h that I had scheduled. But also, uh I didn't provide the food beforehand. Uh Posasha like about two months ago reached out to Austin Matthews to facilitate somebody who could come over and cook on times that I needed. Mia, she's awesome. So, she came over, cooked us the pregame, and then left all the food in the oven.

So, I had to kind of make sure it was all ready to go by the time these guys got home and get a good night's sleep. And sure enough, Chris came back and enjoyed it and cleaned off his dish as did Tape. And then Mincy just left it

just all dirty in the Why didn't they put it in the dishwasher though? I don't even care. It goes It always comes back to Mincy.

Yeah. I do love the fact that Chris, that that guy's very funny because his one of his original tweets was, "Yeah, I think Mincy, his phone was dead. He got on the plane. I need to charge my phone." He plugged the charger into the outlet and fell asleep before actually plugging the charger into the phone. So, that's kind of minty. And there's his dish. Um, you know, to not scoop out and wash out that butter.

It's just And then you see Chris. And I'm going to make sure that these can go right into the dishwasher. There's not work for the person putting them into the dishwasher.

Standard practice. But d boy Kane Mincy Biz, amazing day of content. Awesome stuff. Um, and shout out Chris. Maybe we can get that link up there one more time. Awesome that Big Cat and everyone did that. So, um, now something else we're going to get into quick. Uh, you support Chris at climbforcris.com.

And shout out to Rigzy, too. Rigy gave him a pair of a oneofone Adidas shoes, sent him on his way, provided his couch for the night, a place to record his podcast, seafood tower, special dessert, Mastro staying open later, letting them [ __ ] being obnoxious and not getting kicked out. So, Rigzy Riy took care of our boy, too.

And they're they're great new Adidas shoes Foreplay has. And and like you watch within the next couple weeks, Mincy will have a video where he's like dogging Adidas. This is how this guy does things. So, um, all right. So, next story. Quick [snorts] on this. Wasn't even really going to address this until the Ottawa Senators, this is my opinion, dropped the craziest team statement I think I've ever seen. um in which the sentence was used, I texted you biz. Uh just thinking of an NHL team releasing a statement in which it says, amongst other things, that request was not heard by the lowest form of trolls and sick people who scour the internet.

I don't even really know where to start besides I want your guys' opinion. When that story, fake story broke and the tweets and the rumors were flying, would you ever have released a statement as a team just making so many people unaware of it actually go look to this ridiculous rumor?

No. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. No. What are we doing? I was I was obviously busy all day yesterday and and like after talking to a few people like you just said like you you wait to see if it continues to gain tons of traction and if it's still being ridiculous in in a week then at at at that point you do it but I don't know like [ __ ] pretty crazy [ __ ] to be going on online though for that to be spread and this isn't the first time they've dealt with a with a rumor buzzing around in Ottawa.

Yeah. Yeah. And how did that turn out? Your two best players at the time, Ask Out with Carlson and and Hoffman back then, right? So now it's like, do you do these fans want their players to leave and not want to play there? I just I really don't get how I don't understand how it got legs, how it even got talked about. But like if you're an Ottawa Senators fan and you know, dragging guys names through the mud, like why do you care? I'm a fan of the Patriots. If Drake May is cheating on his wife, I I don't care. I don't care what he does and as long as he's throwing dimes out there, I do not care. Right? So, it's like why why do these people put their time and energy into stuff that it does not matter at the end of the day? Worry about your own selves. Who cares what other guys are doing? Just worry about them having fun on the ice.

Yeah. I It's It sucks for guys. I mean, this is this is [ __ ] that like you that's changed, right? this is like newer thing with the internet and these rumors that come up whether they're true or untrue that you just like kind of have to like deal with as a player. Not saying it's easy probably why it's ideal if you're a player not to be on Twitter and and and I know that's way harder said than done but it's better off mental health career-wise in my opinion and this is speaking from somebody who was on Twitter in a day when I was getting ridiculed on Twitter. It's probably better for your career just to stay off.

Now, the thing about it, like all these rumors and this ridiculous and how it catches fire like that, the team just like you have no business bringing it up. You have no business giving it any more legs. Maybe they're thinking, "All right, well, the players now won't be asked about it in the locker room." I I don't know. Is that the case? Maybe they're they're told, "Hey, we released a statement on this. Do not bring it up to any of the players." Maybe that that's why they did it. But I think there were numerous Senators fans who see this team statement and then have to go look in to this room or this.

Yeah, that's my thing. Like you're pretty Yeah, but it's to to like not to defend the team and the and the way they handled it cuz like some of these guys are older and maybe don't live in the internet world. So they're like hearing the fact that there's this rumor online and they're like [ __ ] that. They're like, "Why would we let this continue to breathe and and and and live in speculation where we could just come out and and nip it in the butt where, like you said, like the the the people that he described as far as like the trolls and the people who would even come up with this rumor and then put it on Twitter and then the people who would continue to like retweet it and recycle it and talk about it like he you you you tend to not want to give those people the oxygen. Maybe they fired early by doing it. But I also just think more of the attention should be on once again like people who would just like

put this online like this is obviously insane. Like it makes me uncomfortable like we come on and we joke around about [ __ ] but like when it comes to guy's personal life like for instance this guy's taking a leave of absence or you hear that this guy's dealing with something behind the scenes like you just like you just like you want that person to be in a good place and and and that's it. Like the hockey even comes as a second. So, I don't know. Like, I I think it's [ __ ] crazy that the the rumor was put online. I think it was crazy like in the past that it was. And I guess it sucks that we have to talk about this now, but I can see why Ottawa came out and nipped it in the butt.

Like, I I would not have done that. That would be of my criticism, but do they hire like a PR firm and like when's the right time to do that? And also, maybe this is players coming to them and saying, "What the [ __ ] dude? like this, none of this is true. And my wife or my girlfriend is at home losing her mind because I'm being dragged into the and and and now they're uncomfortable. They don't they've never been in a situation where all of a sudden their name's being talked about online in this. So, there's just so much that goes into it and like you said, you hope it doesn't I think Elliot talked about on his podcast. I haven't listened. I was like, what is happening with this situation? And and when I talked to Jeff and G, they essentially said like he would basically if his name was on that list, he'd be like, "Get me the [ __ ] out of town where

Yep." And Yans is shaking his head where if him and his wife and kids had to deal with that, they might say, "Absolutely. See you [ __ ] later."

And and he already said they've been through this stuff before. So the Sens fans, the normal ones who are good fans, they're minding their own business, which people don't do anymore. people people need to mind their own business. But the fans who who do and they just like the sends, they don't deserve they're like, "What the fuck?" Like this this organization, they it seemed like things were turning. They get in the playoffs last year and now it's this and the problem is is that I don't think Elliot talks about it. I know we're not talking about it if it was just that rumor. I wouldn't have brought that up on this show.

[ __ ] online [ __ ] about somebody else's life. Like none of my business. None of our business. Oh, but you're saying now we have to

team makes the statement and it's now discussed on all these different platforms.

So, a shitty situation. Um, and I mean, if there's ever ever a a city and a team, you're not looking to play uh the day that this news breaks, it's the ABS. And the ABS just I mean can you not can you not get like the Devils yesterday, right?

Even Josh Manson had four points. Like it's just like everyone like bring them on.

I mean but I honestly I feel bad I feel been wit. You made a good point. You feel bad for the girlfriends and the and the wives. Like if it's not true whether it is true or not like you you feel bad for them. But yeah the Colorado Avalanche coming in town must have been like all right boys. Here we Oh, no. They were on the road, right? It's like point night tonight for the fellas. Where' they finish? 82.

Yeah. You got Stos releasing the statement. You got senators guys on their phones. And then you see the dog walking into the [ __ ] ring.

And then [snorts] Mar comes in. Hey Nate, ain't a need anything. Did you get that Christmas card I sent you?

I shoveled your driveway this morning instead of doing pregame skate. And right now, I mean, McKinnon has, I think, four points last night, a goal and three assists, I believe.

Yeah. McDavid had the hat-tick earlier in the week. He gets another one last night. We got celebrity with the the performance in LA. Biz, you tweeted out, "I can't believe this guy's on at 10:30 Eastern. This is not right. We're watching legit greatness. We're watching things happen from a 19-year-old that we haven't seen a 19-year-old do since Sydney Crosby was 19 years old." So before we get into celebrating McDavid, I do want to bring in a very special guest right now. Speaking of barking and speaking of skating,

I'm being told he's ready, so why aren't you bringing him in? What's up, boys? Oh, the [ __ ] dog is here.

What's up, boys? Buzzing. You're buzzing this year, dog. Yeah, congrats. Sometimes.

Sometimes. Sometimes. So, um I I don't really know where to start. This season for you has been unlike any other. Your pace, your goal scoring, but the team and how good it's been. Um how have you guys stayed so like motivated and continued playing so well when you didn't lose in regulation for close to two months?

Yeah, I just think I mean you guys have been there. There's always that sense of you're just always uncomfortable. Even when you're winning, you think it all could just go to [ __ ] at any time. Um, so you know, we've had a couple guys go down now, but we were so healthy forever, too. And we haven't had that in so long. Um, so yeah, it's been great. It's uh from day one this year, it's um felt a little different, I think. Um, Bezi's been awesome.

Yeah, I don't know. It's it's hard to explain. You know, we've uh we've had a great start and it's been a lot of fun. Biz, quickly before you go. So, when you say it felt different even in camp, like just you you even could tell, wow, this feels like special right now.

Yeah. I mean, we'll see how the playoffs go, but I do think when you lose like that like heartbreaking of a loss, it can kind of bring you together with guys like, you know, we've

we've had like a lot of new guys every year. like we trade for like six guys during the season or you know we got two new goalies last year and a lot of new players. Nelly came in. Um it just takes a bit. I've never been traded but it can't be easy you know and by the way Nelly's playing unreal right now. Um

21 goals right now. Yeah. Um, so I think maybe I mean I hope I guess that it, you know, it's definitely brought us together in this regular season just losing like that. Um, heartbreaking loss and most of the same groups coming back or came back this year. So um, yeah, I don't know. It's uh, it's definitely felt a little more comfortable for sure.

Yeah, a little bit more familiarity. I mean, you talked about Nelly there and then of course Nas like that chaos last year and how that all went down and obviously he he he has a few skill sets like his speed that can kind of keep up with you. How have you felt like that's progress as far as your on ice uh like chemistry with him and what he's been able to do and provide you guys?

Yeah, I mean I think we needed a little time to we play pretty similar, you know, especially off the rush. So, I did think um it last year was pretty good together. You know, we had some really good moments, but I think this year we're just a lot more communication. He's a lot more comfortable. Um I'm more comfortable. And yeah, we just kind of uh try to get get out of each other's way a little bit, I think, when when it is off the rush. And obviously inzone's different, but when he has the puck, I just try to let him go, you know? I'm not trying to catch up to him or try to call for it, you know. He he's so good at it. Like he's one of the best in the world at zone entries, you know, and and transporting the puck up the ice and he's so fast and big. Um, so yeah, he's he's been a horse this year.

Do do you feel that relieves a little bit of that responsibility off of you from like an energy perspective where you're like, "Fuck, normally I would have done that more." I mean, you have you Mar on the ice, but when he's able to transport it, not saying that Ranton didn't do that, but I felt like you were relied on more to do that through the neutral zone.

Yeah, him and Miko are just so different. Um I I definitely think, you know, I I do get to um defer a bit to to Marty off the rush. Um it does save me a little energy. I do think I really do. Like a lot of neutrals on regroups, I'll just go to the wall and he'll just start doing laps around the zone and around the whole ice like it's and he's like goes through triangles and dances everybody. It's uh there's no fear. Um and then Mo, you know, he's he's one of the best download players in in this league. So, you know, that was something that he would do a lot for me as well.

So, um just different both special obviously. Have Have you noticed a big difference from the beginning of your career from now of like, you know, in the beginning of your career, you got to get pucks in deep, you know, go in on the for check, but now it just seems like you guys carry the puck in no matter what, forcing, not even forcing plays, but making good plays at the blue line, trusting each other. Is that something like your coach is like, "Hey boys, don't dump it in. I want you guys holding on to the puck, making your plays, or is it just kind of something you guys do?"

Yeah, you know, he encourages it. you know, he encourages delaying, looking for our D. He wants our D up in every rush. I think everyone does, but um you know, I definitely turn around. I just look for number eight whenever I can. It's not a bad option.

No. Um yeah, he encourages he wants possession, you know, and um there is a time and place for us to dump it in. And I think um we do get in trouble even against Ottawa last night. We started turning everything over and they they got two quickly. So,

[snorts] um, we have a really good forch check and, um, I think that's an underrated part of our game is our forche. Um, and when we need to use it, we will. And obviously in the spring, summer, hopefully, we're going to need it. watching Macar um it it it really reminds people of like of Bobby or it sounds crazy to say and Biz has said everyone's playing for second place in the Norris Trophy as long as he's in this league and we've talked about you and Sid and McDavid and like hockey being your life and how driven and focused you are. Is Kale like that or or is he kind of actually he seems like laidback? I just don't know what he's like away from the rink just seeing the dominance on the ice.

Yeah, I think it is. Um, you know, I don't know how you can be that good and not really really care and think about it and um he's so competitive as well. Like he's very very competitive. Um definitely a quieter guy but you know he has his moments of you know he's he wants to win. Um, he's sneaky, physical out there, too. He'll he can very strong. Uh, very wiry. Um, yeah. I mean, yeah, just a laid-back guy, and it's I don't know. Every day it's something, you know, he's just he's just so good. It's uh I agree. I I think it's second place every year for the Norris, for the whole everyone else in the league. Um, but he's so good defensively. I think he's got a lot better defensively. Like he shuts down everybody. Um, you know, he puts defense first every night and um it's impressive. It's very impressive.

And then you got the big boys back there too. Even like the addition of Brent Burns, like what does he mean to a team for you guys? Like he's just he's almost like a man of mystery. You don't know what's in his backpack. You don't know like what's going on in his backpack.

You don't you never looked? Oh, I've never looked. I I think he's a big coffee guy, isn't he?

Yeah, I've heard it's a coffee thing, but I He gets to the rink so early every day. I don't even see it. Yeah, I don't even see it.

Are you not a coffee guy? I am. I am. Yeah, but I He's just at the rink. I think he's already made his coffee by the time I get there, you know. So, um but yeah, he's been awesome. Uh he's uh you know he's got his his ranch and his all his animals and he tells a story about when a snake got loose in his house. Have you heard this one?

Yeah. Like have you I I don't want I don't remember him. Did he tell us this one, boys?

I feel like I've heard it. I don't know if it was when he was on. Did you tell it, Nate?

Yeah. Like he said he I don't think he has snakes anymore, but he has he'd have snakes in like drawers like like to labeled so he knows like where each one is obviously in a cage, but one was missing for 11 months in his house like a big snake like and he ended up finding it in his subp just I guess it doesn't need to eat for like two years this snake or something. So it was just but like I couldn't imagine having a snake.

How could you go to sleep? How could you sleep? That's why he's not looking in the backpack, basically.

Yeah, exactly. There it is, man. Um, I always like to ask you about the like the training and stuff like that. What's like the latest thing you've been doing to like get an edge?

And I was someone told me a funny story. You were doing a signing and they were like, "Hey, can you tell me what uh what the water exercises are that you do in the pool?" And you were like, "No." And then you Okay. He wouldn't said that to you last time we had him on.

That's true. That's true. Yeah. Uh I think this year I've been trying to lift really heavy. Um very very heavy lifting um summer

before. Yeah. Before. Right before. Yeah. You could tell when you broke that stick the other night. It looked pretty easy.

Yeah. Yeah. I had some strength on that one. All right. Give us the pregame right now. Like are we talking about front squats?

Yeah, it it'll change a lot. Um my um performance guy who treats me and and gives me a lot of exercises who's here with me. Um he was around track athletes for a long time and all those guys that the fastest people in the world lift very heavy um before they run, before they compete. Um, so I think it's something in hockey that a lot of a lot of um I don't know when I was growing up it was like oh like if you lift heavy you're going to blow out your back or your knees or whatever. So and I think that's a myth. Um and so yeah that's what we've been trying to do a little bit more. Um and the whole team's doing it. Um we have an unreal strength coach Alexi Pinozi. He's giving guys a ton of good lifting to do.

Um, so yeah, that's something a little different this season. Gary Roberts did that when he got traded to Pittsburgh. I remember um right before the game. I mean, he'd come into the locker room probably 5 minutes before we went on the ice and warm up in a lather and he he would be doing all like explosive heavy lifting. So, he was kind of ahead ahead of the game with that, I guess.

Yeah, it's like low reps um like heavy lifting just to kind of turn everything on. Um, my warmth isn't that long or that hard, but it's just a couple reps and get out there. So,

always fine-tuning it. It's awesome. And like you don't have to throw out a number, but I would imagine it's easily in the the six digits as far as like what you're spending in order to keep your body operating. Uh, do do you fly anybody in as far as like art or needling or do you have everything that's set up in Colorado? Yeah. So, uh, Marchin is, uh, he's full-time here for like five, six years. So, um, he was with, um, actually I met him through Sid when I was 17. Andy O'Brien and him were friends in Calgary and I was like, I don't need this. Like, what is this treatment? You know, I was like, I don't need treatment. Um, and then he was with the tennis player. Um, and then she retired. So, I I asked if he'd come to Denver and um it's been amazing. Um Kale and Gabe uh use him a ton as well now. So, um yeah, it's it's a he's a special special treatment person. I mean, he's coming to Olympics

with us. He's uh he's awesome and um very lucky to have him down here. That's awesome. Do you guys have like a congrats obviously on being named to the Canadian team, but do you guys have a group chat going already? Is like that already fire and you guys getting ready for uh the trip over to Italy?

Yeah. Yeah, there's a group chat. Um I think they asked what their goal song should be.

I'm staying out of that one. That's answer all these questions. Yo, Sid has to answer that.

Nate's like, I'll just score all the goals you guys pick. No. Yeah, I'd wonder what Sid would pick. Um, yeah, I don't know what we're going to pick. Maybe Marshy will pick.

I think you would say the dog days are over. That's one of his favorite jams. I know that.

Something from the hip, maybe. That's a big Canadian, right? Yeah, that's what the World Junior guys just did that, right? The hip or No. Is that

Maybe you guys should go like Atlantis Morset or something. Yeah, maybe something else.

What are you What are you listening to the most, Nate? Uh, honestly, I don't I'm not listening to a ton of music right now. Um, when I'm in my car, I just try to I I there's so much like good podcasts out there now that I try to listen to or um where I'll just call people. So, that's kind of what I'm doing.

You used to be heavy in the rap game, right? Yeah. Yeah. I'm 30 now, man. You know, just try to chill chill a little bit. I don't need to be listening to that. Go to the rig. trying to get his BPMs down,

getting all angry going to the rink. Dog, before we let we let you go, you were actually the first guy, I believe, when asked about the news that the arena is going to be a little smaller in Italy. I think you were the first guy that say, I don't give a [ __ ] Uh, I don't care. So, when you'd been hearing about it, you probably right away had that thought like, why is everyone talking about this? Who cares? We're all playing on the same ice.

Yeah. I could I mean Peter B I did an interview with him and he asked me and um I was just like who cares you know like what am I going to do you know like worry about

size or Yeah. Or I just mean like I can't control how big they make it if it's a threeon-ree rink, you know, like we're going to go over there and play play hard and hopefully win.

And I think I saw Connor say the same thing. Um I know Sid doesn't care at all. I think he likes a little smaller ice to be honest. Uh so yeah, it's uh I don't think it matters. It's all the same for everybody and I can't wait to get over there.

Well, thank you so much. This is so awesome for us. Yeah, this is this is our final episode on YouTube before we go over to Netflix.

Was saying you're going to Netflix? Yes. I know. I know. I know. Thank you. Very excited.

We're dropping Tom Brady for our first interview on there. No way. It was cool talking to him. I mean, you talk about mindsets and how you guys operate and how how much of an investment is like, you know, as far as your free time into being as good as you are at hockey, but yeah, those you guys are a different level, buddy. And we're grateful that we get to watch you night in night out. And as far as this team Canada goes, buddy, bring it home. [ __ ] bring it home, buddy.

Yeah. Yeah. Bring it home, Nate. Bring it home. Um, shut the [ __ ] up with uh listen, but I wanted to thank you because our sandbaggers will remain on YouTube and our YouTube channel has grown a lot because of that and that all started with you Biz and I and Keith have brought up that we go threeon-ree now. Scramble, you sit and then you chuck in Marshy. He joins your little rematch team against us.

That would be that would be at cabbat links that that offer is out there for this summer. So, think about I'm I'm so into YouTube golf now and I watched that whole like when you when that guy was late

what would you have said? You probably would have reacted more aggressively than what

that was I don't know what but I think Whit handled it as aggressive as possible.

But it was about it wasn't about I I know I know I know it was uh that was all time though. What if Nate just shows up late for a [ __ ] Western Conference matchup against?

It is true. It's a lot of money on the line. And um I was just laughing like I don't think like cuz that's how like hockey guys would like, you know, chirp people for being late and not caring. You just you get roasted. But I don't think golfers get roasted like that.

No, they don't. We I learned that. They know what to do. Actually, there's Quan Quan has his guys I I I'll send the video to you. They like imitate me and make fun of me and and rip on me. I'll send it over. But um I wanted to thank you for, you know, for the first sandbagger and

yeah, keep crushing it, buddy. Do you think I'm a sandbagger? I mean, we've talked about this before. You like you were one over through eight holes and you're getting a shot a hole. So yeah.

Well, I don't think you've watched much recently. I just had the f the front nine of my life. Now, you we mentioned Marshall as a third. Do you chat with him frequently? Like, are you guys texting every week?

Not every week, but we we probably text once a month. Um, he Yeah. Yeah. He's a funny [ __ ] guy.

Yeah, I was watching the interview when he the roof was open and the pigeons. Did you laugh?

I laughed. Yeah, I laugh. I'm sorry. I did laugh. It's true. But I laughed at your joke, too. The worst model of all time. So, you know.

Yeah, that was funny. They're both funny. I appreciate that. Do you think that he would do it?

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. I don't know if he golfs much though. I don't think he does, but if he's got

I don't know if that'd be a fair I don't know if that's fair. Oh, as far as you guys maybe want a couple say we'll take a couple shots. I think

we'll let Marshon tea off from the ladies te's. That's what we'll do. [ __ ] him for chirping me calling me a pigeon. Uh, do you do you laugh when you see [ __ ] like when he goes to Toronto and he just stirs it up the way that he stirs it up? Like are you [ __ ]

It's so funny. It's so funny. Like I think he's just toying with the whole thing. Like I don't think he means anything he says.

No, I think we're like you booed. What do you say? You ran Marner out of town. That's when I'm like this guy's a master. Yeah.

To say you ran him out of town. Yeah. It just sucks. You guys ran him out. It's like this guy is a master at getting people up.

We could maybe get it sponsored by Timmy's too. Uh cuz they're doing the Timmy's commercials all together now.

Yeah, those are fun. The outakes in those are hilarious. Yeah, we could get some nice sponsorships going here.

Wait, all three of you do Timmy's or just you and Sid? Yeah. Yeah. Marcy uh he's in a new one.

Yep. I haven't seen that. He had his little teddy bear. Um is that what they is that what they I'm not in Canada. I haven't even seen that. that and I think cards, but Nate Nate and Sid took uh team friendly deals with Tim Hortons just so they could add Marawn. That's the type of leadership these guys are providing.

Big big pay cut there. Marawn got a six-year deal from Timy's. Awesome for him.

All right, talk to you soon. Good luck. You're the best, guys. Thanks, Nate. You're the best.

What a That was incredible. Well, what a surprise for Is this our last live one on YouTube?

Our last live show. Yeah, last live show. So, the dog came. I know, Biz. Get a tattoo for it. Get a tattoo for it. Um, I want to say congrats to Sweden. Um, World Juniors, we haven't been on because that was Monday night. Dude, that's that country, the way they're producing players. I texted Merles, who we all know is a Swedish fan. He he was rooting for this this championship. I said, "You have to go back and find out why are they all such good skaters. They all fly. They all can move around out there. An incredible country. They, like I said, they wouldn't be shocked if they won the gold medal in Italy either at the Olympics. But um I Ivar Stenberg, what a player. I texted a few people.

He's like Zedterberg. The way he kind of moved and they said, "Yeah, better skater, too." Like he this guy was was incredible. So I think the number one the race for number one pick that's alive. I don't think

going into the year it was like oh it's McKenna. I think there's kind of more discussion now. And then before we get to NHL also Tinan Lawrence

who is a possible number one pick as well. He left Moskegan in the USL. He's going to join BEu. He was committed to BEu for next year but they're bringing him in halfway through. Uh stud player. St.

How much did you have to pay him? Yeah. What did you have to give him boost? I didn't have to do a thing. I didn't have to do a thing. He just wanted to come be a terrier sooner. Last year they they brought their goalie in Big Mike. He was incredible. They lost a national title game halfway through he came from the USL Omaha. So now they got Tynan Lawrence. Uh and if he lights it up then he's in the discussion for number one, right? If you're dominating college hockey, I think that that was the thing about Celbrini. It was complete domination. So um congrats to Sweden once again and go be you. Big Mike, the goalie I bring up. He is a prospect for the New Jersey Devils.

The New Jersey. Can we bring Posasha on? And don't even play don't even play the video. This is unbelievable. Pasha, this is something that you couldn't have imagined at any point in time leading up to this year. And I want to give

I want to give you a chance, Pasha. How how mad were you at n at nine nothing? How mad were you last night against Pittsburgh? Where is your level of confidence in anything changing, anything turning around? And um break it down for us.

I honestly wasn't even that I wasn't even that mad at 9 nothing. Like I was mad at one nothing, two nothing, three nothing. And then after that, I was kind of happy. I was hoping they'd get 10 because like I would much rather that than them losing by one goal and and have it stay status quo. I thought there's no way that that wasn't the straw that broke the camel's back. I am shocked that Keith and Fitzy still have a job and then they show they no show again last night. Like I I'm at a loss for words. This is the most frustrated I've ever been as a Devils fan.

Wow. Uh there's been some dark times in like whatever 2014 15 16, but like the team sucked back then, but in terms of like expectations and talent on the roster and what I'm seeing right now, I'm completely shocked. But like it's very clear this team needs a major shakeup. Keith has lost the room and it's just like they have so many problems. Like I don't I don't even know where to begin. It's [ __ ]

Do you see any good like anything they can take that even looks somewhat decent or it's all bad there?

I mean the weird thing is is like they're actually doing a decent job of like controlling play and generating chances, but like they can't finish anything and like any like point blank shot is into the goalie's chest. their their goal scored above expected is is dead last in the league by a long shot. And like even in that Islanders game, like they were like controlling play most of the game and just putting everything in Sroken's chest and then the Isles would just come down on a rush, boom, top shell. Same thing.

Another two minutes, Devils kind of in the offensive zone. Islanders down the rush, boom, goal. Like the Islanders didn't really control play, believe it or not, for a nine nothing game. So, like that's like the only silver lining I can see is that like they're at least like somewhat generating chances even though they can't [ __ ] finish them. But like yeah, there's not much to be optimistic about right now. But also like

uh well, it's weird. Before the nine nothing game, Marstrom looked like he had finally turned a corner. I think he had strung together four or five solid starts in a row. And it was weird because everyone's like, "Okay, like now they're getting the saves, but the goals have disappeared." So it's just like nothing's clicking.

Whack-a-ole. Yeah. Yeah. Whack them all. I'm [ __ ] Yeah, it's I'm shock. I'm in shock.

And And so because you don't believe that Keith can get the room back and you don't believe Fitzy can make the moves possible. You want them both gone.

I want them both gone. So all of a sudden you have maybe the assistant GM taking role there. Like how quick how quickly can you hire a GM who's coaching the team? It seems like you can't really do both at the same time mid-season. Maybe you can if you're lining up things away from the scene. But my thing is Devils fans seem pretty disgusted with ownership and about that they're way more into all their other teams than maybe they are the Devils. Do you feel that?

Well, Posh is [ __ ] tagging them on Twitter. That was what I was getting. He's go what? That's when I knew you were like full joker in jail mode when you're tagging the owners on Twitter.

Is that that crazy? Yes, it is. I think that's crazy. Like you're acting like I found their home addresses and I'm picking outside of their house. These are public Twitter accounts. It's not that crazy to tag them.

But also, we talk about it all the time. Like you've hired Fitzy who played how many games in the NHL? I'm pretty sure he hit the thousand mark. And if he didn't, he was close. And you're and and then Keith who's coached in the NHL before. So you have to trust the people that you hire and back off until you decide not to have them in the seat. Now,

yeah, but they've reached that point, buddy. I understand, but I asked you about Keefe at the start of the season cuz I basically I don't dig, right? I just ask. I felt like last year with the injuries that they went through and the adversity they were going through, he kind of just kept playing the same card where he gets like angry and maybe I don't know how the teaching or is going and is getting through. I don't know what the relationship between him and the players like. And you basically said like there's no way D'Vor would end up being the next guy in that seat. So, if you are going to fire him, who you going to hire? And you said that that wasn't going to be a possibility at the start of the year.

I for sure said that. I'm not acting like I've been on this fire key, fire fitsy train for a long time. On Monday's pot, I said I wasn't on the fire fitsy train. A lot has changed since the start of the year, let alone since [ __ ] Monday. Um, I was a big Keith defender. Uh, I I thought that he was doing a solid job, but it's very clear he's lost the room. And also, it's made clear to me that even before this kind of little skid that his coaching style isn't suited for the the makeup of the roster. This needs to be a pond hockey rush team like they were in 2022. Fast, skilled, and they're playing a slow brand of hockey. So, um, yeah, I I was a big Keith defender. I was a big Fitzy defender, but I' i've come to my wits end.

Do you like their roster? Oh, sorry. What? No, go ahead. like looking at their roster, if you looked at it, do you would you especially going into the season, you're like, "Okay, I like our roster."

So, the only thing that's like kept me from [ __ ] walking onto a bridge and making some big decisions is that I like their I like their core. Their their top dogs I like a lot. It's everything around it that I have a problem with. Like, I love Nicoir. I love Jack Hughes. Luke Hughes I'm bullish on, but he's had a horrible season. I like Teimo Meyer. I like Esper Brat. Those are the key pieces and I like that core. It's just their this the surrounding pieces, the bottom six, uh some of the defenseman like it's that is what needs to change.

So to me at least their core is solid. If they didn't have a solid core, I think we'd have much bigger problems. That's why I'm remaining somewhat optimistic.

So Fitzy got all those guys. So then you can't No, not really. Not really. Rich's work. But going into the year, you mentioned you really love the D. So now you're saying you, you know, you're bullish on Luke. You don't love what's around him. who were raving about your D your Dor.

Well, I and Pasha your like when you say fire fire key, fire fitsy, I I understand that they lost nine nothing. They didn't have a penalty minute.

Yeah, that's very concerning as well. So, what's the coach and the GM have to do with literally every guy just taking a nine nothing beating and not doing a thing?

Yeah, I don't that's as a fan. I'm looking at that and I'm saying, "All right, we got to bring in a new coach and a and a new GM, but are are you going to be are you going to be able to make them care?" Not saying they don't care, but in in that game,

yeah, like your like who are your foxhole guys other than Dylan where you trust in situations like that? Like who are your you know who cuz I know I think Miles Wood would have been in there. I know

McDhole guys like Paul Paul Carter will get dirty. He'll he'll drop the gloves. Like I I think Connor Brown throws some hits. plays physical. But I agree with you. They need they need more Foxhole guys. They need more Foxhole guys. And I think like part of that is that like Keith had already lost the room and there's this sort of apathy already there before the Islanders game. I'm not defending it. There for sure should have been, you know, start running guys, start dropping the gloves, whatever. Like tussle [ __ ] up once it's four, five, six, seven, [ __ ] eight, nine, nothing. But um yeah, like I said, they have a lot of issues. So I Yeah, it's very very very concerning. If if you if they were to fire GM coach, are you essentially saying that the that playoffs may not be a possibility this year? Are you are you essentially writing off this season?

I'll give you a $400 buyout right now. I won't. No, no, no. Okay. I think whoever whoever invited Frank the Tank to that dinner, he's the one who should be fired. He's

invited to that dinner. That dinner just happened to be restaurant the same time.

So they were 124 and one, I think. And since then, I want to say they're like 915 and two or something. So

I know and that that coincides with the injury to their best player. Uh but my last thing is you say

these guys have earned the rights for the no trade. You believe that they should take a trade anyways. You don't really agree with the no trade thing and actually wanting to be there even though you earned that in your deal. So you've said Fitzy to get rid of them, trade them and give away draft picks just to get rid of those contracts. I how how are you willing to get rid of draft picks when Grenelli is telling me on the chat that you have the 25th ranked prospect pool in the NHL. Now granted that could be from one site or one list and they could be higher in another. It's not like you have a ton coming. You kind of need your draft picks.

I I don't look at it that way. I think like the time to win is now or at least I thought that before. And like I don't care about next year's first that might turn into a good player in three four years. Like you it's addition by subtraction. I don't care if you lose the Douggee Hamilton trade, but getting rid of that player, opening up the the the roster spots for Kovich and Nemits, two righties, and also that 9 million bucks you can then better spend on a top six winger and a and a centerman. I don't care about draft picks. The time to win is now. Like, you know, this core is not getting any younger. I I wouldn't say like the windows closing by any means. I think the windows just opened and it's tough because the the core hasn't had legit cracks like like I'm not trying to fire ricochet at the lease, but it's not like this is the lease now where the a healthy core has had eight cracks the playoffs and

failed. They've had one legit crack at the playoffs. They beat the Rangers and then lost to the Canes and then the last two years they've been so hurt. So this core has had one legit crack at the playoffs. It was their first ever crack. They beat they they won a series. So, it's hard to kind of [ __ ] write everyone off being like this core is not working when they haven't had a fair shake.

Uh, who's your guy? Like, who do you put in those positions? Have you seen online who they're the chatters about? If they do replace both seats and if it's just coach, who do you got?

I haven't seen any chatter. If who? My personal choice would be Dbor. I love Pety Dbor as a coach. I have no idea who would replace Fitzgerald. Um, but at this point, like if for no other reason than just shaking things up there, there has to be something. This [ __ ] sitting on your hands sitting around like it's like it's mind-numbing. They need to shake up.

Well, State of the Union right there from from a lost puppy, a lost soul right now. Um,

Stamp Coast might be able to score some goals for you. He still doesn't want what money. Well, no, it's not it's not about Stamp Coast, the player with what money. He makes 8 million bucks. I'm just saying it's been mentioned a lot that like the fan base I don't know if the team really when Quinn Hughes went to Minnesota that was kind of the the ultimate kick while they were all down and it's just they've everyone stayed down. So you had mentioned I I you didn't want to send a ton that way considering you could sign him in two years. Now you just worry worry worry that he's going to sign in Minnesota and you'll never get the crack at him. But we'll see what happens with the Devils moving forward. Get rid of Pasha. Sorry, Pasha. I'd like to stay quickly in in in the metro because Philadelphia guys, what a story this is.

Unreal. Are they second place in the Atlantic right now? No, third place. They're one point back at the Islanders with two games in hand. The Trevor Zaggress show against Anaheim, was that Tuesday night? What a what a night. This guy was on fire. His interview after the game was incredible. Complete bounceback year. I think people were questioning where his game was at. He gets out of Anaheim. He's flourished in Philly. He loves being there. G put in the chat like he's got to be resigned. Is that a nine or10 million dollar a year contract? Like I've read other things that said nine a year, fiveyear deal. Biz, have you been did you expect this out of him?

Um I expected talk to challenge him and and get to a different level than maybe we saw in Anaheim. He had that big first year and then um obviously things weren't going well with with the coach not seeing eye to eye. Don't know with how much the relationship with Verbique had to do with that. They dealt with all the [ __ ] but I think you're just seeing a player that you know he he gets out of a horrible situation. He's given new life a team where I mean I don't know what type of expectations people had in Philadelphia. I don't think it certainly wasn't this to this degree and he's being given that ice time and that opportunity and he's flourishing with it. And I couldn't be happier for the kid, man. I think that everything happened really fast when he first got to Anaheim. I think he was on the cover of the EA video game. You know, he does the Michigan. He's, you know, Sports Center here, ESPN here, like getting

interviewed. So, it was probably a hard couple years for him. Um, and despite that, all you hear about how as unbelievable of a guy is behind the scenes, like still with his teammates and how he's wanted. So, uh, I I couldn't be happier for the kid, man. And, uh, it's awesome. It's It's awesome to see.

Yeah. You can just tell that he's he's he's like a little kid out there having fun. His interview after, he's smiling, having a good time. He's chirping the, you know, the Anaheim brass for how much how quick the phone call was with them. I mean, look at the fans. You can tell the fans love him there in Philly. He's not a typical Philadelphia fan that everybody loves where they're going to be running guys through the glass and all that stuff, but they're they're appreciating what he brings on the offensive side. His shootouts have been amazing. Uh he's going to get an like I'd give him whatever Jack Hughes makes, I'd give him that. Like he's, you know, they kind of remind me of each other of players, but I just I love the fact that he's out there having fun again. And you can tell like that his his love for the game is back whether he lost it or not.

But I I I really love just to see the joy in his face when he's playing. And Whit nice coming in too where you have a player who is this highly touted prospect who essentially is saying I don't want to play for your organization and then you get this guy who's basically just chucked away who's coming there and embraced the city and and thriving there. I think that that's the turnaround story where now they get to focus on Zegris as opposed to lo losing Cutter Goce. So to not only feel that for as long as the season's been, but going headtohead and then your guy [ __ ] his first star and doing all that, that's a that's a pretty [ __ ] good night.

I think that that night was probably uh the most electric night they've had in that building for a while. And and it was all it was Cutter, it was Ziggris being great, outdueling him. Cutter still scores in the game. Pretty sick. And then the Philly crowd being alive. I I I had clicked off our Zoom. Did G put up the picture of the celebration after the goal. Did you get

Yes. With the phone down? No. No. There's another Oh, I don't Can we not show the one G? I think RA tweeted it as well. It's unreal. It's like shooting down on him. He's sober and you see tons of fans behind him just going bananas. And the Flyers haven't had a ton to cheer for. when Keith said not the typical Philly fan favorite where yeah they love you know Bobby Clark style Lindro killing people when he was in his heyday um Mike Richards how he played they're they're starving for an offensive

I'll say superstar I don't I'm not going to put Zegris there but he's a star and that's been kind of the issue with like the lack of ice time for Mechov I keep saying like I trust Rick Tockett as a coach I think he knows what he's The team's winning. It seems like there's a faction of fans disgusted with his ice time. I think he'd be getting it if if the effort and the and the superstar level potential that they believe in was there. But right now it it's not. But that's why they love Ziggress. They want a game breaker in Philly. They haven't had one in so long. That picture's impressive.

Wow. cuz Philly fans understand like they know the the whole trade thing, everything that happened, what this game means to Zegris, what it means to go to like they understand the nuances of the game. So that that that picture is unbelievable. He should have that in his bedroom.

Another thing, too, is you have all this talent and things aren't going well and you almost feel like you're at the mercy of this this NHL club, right? I'm sure there was plenty of periods over the course of them negotiating the contract with Anaheim or him having to sign that bridge deal and then play through it and not get the reps or the ice time he wanted battling with his coach where he wanted to be like get me the [ __ ] out of here. I'll go He probably thought I'd rather go play in the American League 22 minutes a night just to be able to like have fun and be that kid again. And I'll throw it back at you two. Have you ever kind of felt that where and then you had the opportunity as like a a game where you could shove it back to an organization that maybe did you dirty a little bit?

You want to know my return to Pittsburgh? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, [ __ ] Okay, here we go.

I talked to you about that about shoving it in their face and letting them know what a mistake they made cuz they had won the cup, right?

And so it's like, hey, you won you won the cup, but yeah, you'll see what you see what you're missing these days. So I went into Pittsburgh on Anaheim. Uh I think we lost four nothing. I was minus four.

Okay. So I showed them Biz. I showed Pittsburgh. You [ __ ] you [ __ ] around and trade me, you'll you'll regret the day.

Um that was mine. I beat you in somebody's face. Amazing. That was that was [ __ ] great delivery, buddy.

Feel like wow that trade we really hit a home run. Oh [ __ ] That's where when like

what a trade. That's if they have like a Kunit ran me. They start two and 12, but then you come to town and they get the win and see that it's like you're he looks over your job safe.

Hey. Hey, that's a job saver. But wait till you see tonight, boys. I'mma send Melon Arena all home pissed off besides the fans. Eminem you walking and

knees weak arms are heavy wits back about to snap six pizzas up the legs I tried to get spaghetti in there with my legs

won't box out won't change in time leave my guys in a bad spot all the time in a bind

all right my rhyme game's off but uh another another team down bad Winnipeg And last night was was unre all the losing that they've that they've done and how bad they've been and they get up to 3-1 on my Oilers. McDavid scores a goal with like 20 seconds left in the second. But Winnipeg's they're holding on to the lead halfway through the third and this is kind of their season like in a nutshell. Pass goes right to uh Jonathan Taves. I don't know how it went through his stick but it was tape to tape. might have been rolling a little and it's a turnover.

Heyman ends up uh putting it back back of the net. Ties it up. Then the Oilers get a power play. Bousard scores about two minutes later. Winnipeg loses 4-3. Doesn't get a point. So G wrote, "Is it time to break up the core?" Like I Yeah, I I I actually don't know because I haven't watched them enough. I just see that they're just losing and losing and winning the President's Trophy and being this bad. I don't think it's ever happened before. They're three and 20 in their last 23 games.

I I would I didn't know it was that bad. I thought it was like three and 12 in their last 15.

Three and 20 in there. Like that is tough times coming to the rink. Like if you're just those are

How are you not How are you not if Pasha wants a new coach and a GM? Like I'm just surp Jets fans looking for a new coach here. I mean, they won the President's Trophy last year, but this is like, are they are they kind of just throwing it away? Like, you have to do something if you're three and 20. You're either saying, "All right, this season's done,"

or you're going to try to save it. I have no idea. But fans, when you got the best goalie in the league, it's it reminds me of the Montreal days when they had Carrie Price for all those years and not doing well. Like when you have the best goalie in the league every year, uh like you got to do something because the window is closing now, right? He's getting older, but at some point you have to either trade him, but like how do you trade your the best goalie in the world? Has that ever happened besides the Patty Wah trade? Uh so it's it's something's got to give there. I don't know what it is.

Or is it a legit a relocation again? Well, we'll see what happen. I would say tank, but there's not a chicken dick's chance they're getting the first overall pick.

Oh, no. Or second. Um, do you know Calgary's never had a top three pick? That's crazy.

I saw that. I was surprised. Um, we got another guest right now. Very special guest, unreal human being, warrior, Kelly Chase. Let's bring him in. G. And I should say, Chaser, co-host of an awesome pod with Ice Ice.

There it is. Ice Guardians. I love how you been, Chaser. What's going on, boys? How are you? Great. I've been watching your stuff as usual. It's been great. You make me laugh. And uh it's been it's been okay, man. A little bit of a struggle, but hey, you know, it's uh it's nothing to whine about. Somebody's got it worse somewhere.

Chaser, I've been seeing these clips like nonstop. You and Holly with the old guys snapping it around. It's been awesome. How much have you been enjoying being in the podcast space? And it isn't, isn't it great just like setting the campfire up and telling all these old school stories?

It's the best. And and the funny thing is, you know, we wanted to kind of start slow. So, we're sort of like, you know, let's get some of our old buddies on here. And some of the stories like Wendell and I grew up together. So, his views when they went over whatever it was, a million or whatever, we're like, you know, you had all Ontario, you know, Canada. Anybody that drove a John Deere was on, you know, listening to that. But when you had like like Butchie, I don't know if you heard Basel McCrae the other day tell the story about the toughest fight he ever had. He said uh the toughest fight he ever had. He goes, "Well, it was easy." He goes, "That's when Chaser brought me home at 4 in the morning from East St. Louis." And he said, "And I had puke on my shirt." And my wife Jill met me at the door. He goes, "That was the fight of my life."

And the guy and we're kind of sitting there and I'm looking and she goes, "And I puked on my shirt." and and uh she said, "You puked all over yourself." And he said, "No, Chaser did that. He gave me 20 bucks for the dry cleaning." And she reached in his pocket. There was 40 bucks in there. And she said, "There's $40 in here." He said, "Well, you [ __ ] in my pants, too.

That's the That's the craziest part." And Holly and I are are howling, right? Because we don't know what's coming out of Basil's mouth. And then when we start reliving the G butcher stuff, you know, when he was our captain with some of this buffoonery, you know, and giving it to Grimmer and oh my god, I just I I sit back and and and laugh because I I I witnessed it, you know. So to hear it the first time would be f it it doesn't get old, guys. You guys you guys have had a lot of your your guests on that you played with and it never gets old.

Never gets old because we don't miss the game till the playoffs. We miss the locker room. We miss the guys. That's all we miss. And so for those of you guys listening and they got millions listening,

this [ __ ] about missing the game, that doesn't happen till the playoffs. It and and what you miss is being in that locker room with those guys because those stories and there's not as many of them anymore because unfortunately the telephone the the video and everything has ruined it for a lot of them. But I'll tell you what, there's some great stories out there. the I mean just Holly and I actually my first training camp Holly was there so I kind of got to be around him a little bit. It was just so cool to be around.

He came in he broke the bike so no one had to do the bike test. It was one of the best things I've ever seen. But just like the way that he beats to his own drum he was telling the story with Butch about your coach Sutter. He was like if he doesn't start coaching differently I'm not playing. Butch had to beat him up at lunch. Like just But he was like

forehead at the Whistling Oyster in Toronto. But that's just how he was. He just beat to his own drum. Huh.

Well, listen, boys. At training camp one year, he came in and he, you know, he knows what he's supposed to do, but he's not doing it. He's not going to do it right. So, they're going to do the vertical jump and he and and he says to the kid there, this kid's just some physiootherapist that's in training and he says, "You got to put your hands in the air." and and and how and and see how high you can reach and hy goes what and you know that I'm not doing that and the kid goes well they just want and then see how high you can put your hands because they want to see you know and then he's got to jump and and Hely goes I'll tell you how high I can reach that effing high 86 times last year now I'm not doing that and he just walks away from this kid and this kid doesn't know where to [ __ ] or wind his watch because you know how to tell Grant Paul who just scored 86 goals that he's got that he's

got a jump in the air. So Holy just walked away and never did the test. One walked Kenan over to the to the fitness award that was the plaque on the wall. He said hey Mike come here for a second. Kenan comes over walks over goes what? Who the hell are any of these guys? wasn't one guy that played more than 10 games in the NHL in the fitness award thing for the Blues. And you know, he just he couldn't help himself if he and and he didn't just like it wasn't like he brought one of the assistant captains over. He brought the head coach and GM over to tell him, "Hey, look at how stupid this is." Anyway, I I I love the guy, man. I roommed with him for seven and a half of the nine. We play together.

Oh my god, boys. I'll tell you. If I could tell you all of them, but man, I'll tell you.

I would have been exhausted for games, Chaser, you guys must have been laughing like especially the day before. Like, what time would you guys be getting to bed at night before?

Well, here's here's the funny thing. He We didn't miss a lot of curfews, okay? Like, we we really didn't. But when we went out, we went we went out, okay? And uh

start early. He I used to say to him all the time, I didn't room with you. room with your suitcase. You were never in the room. And so like he he would just like, you know, oh yeah, good one. But I'll tell you what he did. We got off the bus and he'd turn around and he'd say to all the seekers, all the autograph people, I'll I'll sign tonight. I'll sign it in the morning, but I'm not doing both. And of course, they all want him to sign at night or whatever. So I'd go to the room and I would put a block on the phone. uh do not disturb on the phone, pin the curtains up, turn the temperature down to 62 degrees, change into a pair of jeans, and get ready for when he came up in the room.

He would just throw his bag, go, "All right, let's go." And we would go out and we would go out for dinners, big dinners, whatever, right? And once in a while, we, you know, we we went out. Well, I I I told this story about Montreal because Montreal, Holly went out for lunch at the at a famous uh ballet and and so he's in the shade to for lunch and now dinner. And now I've gone went shopping and then I' I've decided I'm going to go back to the room and I'm back in the room. It's like 10:30. Dog Wilson calls me. He goes, "Chaser, you got to go get your boy."

And I'm like, "Where is he?" He says he's he's you know we stay at the western shut he's he's next door I go still he goes yeah I go Jesus so I get dressed and I go to night WALK IN HEY WHAT'S UP you know and he's good time Charlie so I said hey bud come on let's go he goes what it's don't worry we're all right we're all right and in the paper in the morning it was a French paper had uh the showdown and it had a split shot of him and Patty blah and And in the English version of it, it said the shootout. All right.

And uh I said, "Come on, bud. Let's go." He goes, "Don't worry. I'm fine." And finally I said, "Hey." And so I'm pulling him by the ear. It's now about maybe midnight. I get him out of there. I said, "Come on." We're staying here tomorrow night. If you need to come back, you can come back or whatever. But he he had found a whole bunch of new friends in there by then. So I I get him peel him out of there. He won't talk to me. doesn't talk to me on the way back. Doesn't talk to me in the morning. Doesn't talk to me in pregame. Goes has his nap, goes to the game, fires three in the first period in. Okay. And then he's standing by the door. Now, Holly had no rituals. I just I'm telling you, zero. When he went on the ice, who he followed, none, nothing. Nothing did he that he bother with the rituals, right?

But he's standing by the door and I'm the last guy off the ice. You know, it was a twister and I and [snorts] I'm thinking, "Oh, this ought to be good." So, he comes over. I get over to the door and he goes, "I told you we didn't have to go last night. This French guy can't stop me. I I'm like, not like, you know what? How about hey, thanks for dragging me out of there." Like,

no, I told you. And then he I would have had five table. Yeah. He couldn't wait to score three and then wait there at the door at the end of the tour to tell you that. What a [ __ ] guy.

Oh yeah, he was he was I love him, man. I love him. And you know, uh my son Will is doing a lot of the editing and well all of the editing and and uh we've had a few he saves already in the in the podcast where he said stuff and we're like, "Hey, you can't say that. I thought it was a podcast." I know, but you still can't say that.

We we had a gentleman on. We took about seven minutes of an hourong interview out. He he was very old school. we had to save his bacon. But, uh, there was one story that you guys kept and I just saw the clip. I forget how it went down, but it had to do with a like a like a street fight outside of at a park light or something.

What was this one? Oh, no. That was in Poria with Twister. Okay. What happened there?

We were heading to practice and we had to practice uh at the practice facility dress at Carver Arena and this guy got, Pardon me, boys. uh road rage

pull up to a gas station uh light and this guy jumps up. He's he's hammering on the on the horn. Hammer on the horn and there's three car loads of us and Twister just gets out of the car and pounds the [ __ ] out of the guy and the guy's feet are still up in the car. Like you're still still in the car. The boys we all had our hockey equipment on. I I mean I mean the whole the whole works of us. So like who who are we hiding, right? And you know I mean so you you can imagine by the time practice is over Bobby players like well what the hell did you guys do last night and I don't want to know. Don't tell me. Then I got to tell the Blues and he went off the ice and then of course they wanted to know who the hell beat the hell out of the guy at the light and what happened and we you know they nothing came of it but not very smart man. What?

Oh, 16 guys jump out of cars and pound one guy out. He's playing on the corner and we all got our hockey equipment on. Everything but the stakes.

Is there any team scarier though than your softball team that you had? I don't believe so.

You guys have heard Yeah. If you want to if you Google a pretty interesting thing, it's it says uh I think it's called uh what's it is it the toughest team there ever was? Is that what it's called or something like that?

I think softball team and it was a fast pitch softball team and it's competitive in Canada. Fast pitch, you know, I know it's a it's more of a a women's sport. I'm going to get in trouble for probably saying that, but it is down here. Much more competitive up there. That's the big thing. Okay. And uh we had uh Melrose playing first base. Uh, we had Yanni at second or killer Kaminsky at second. We had Wendell at shortstop, Joey Kosher at third base, Donnie Clark, Wendell's older brother catching. And then me, Carrie Clark, Cory Kosher, Neil Clark, all we were all fielders. And then and so, so it was just a hockey team and we had two farmers. There it is. There it is, boys. Two old goat farmers. Bowski.

Toughest goalie ever. Oh, Mike Bowski. He was my cousin. Uh, who he he drafted by the Flyers and or signed by the Flyers and played in their minor league. I'm telling you, boys, it was hilar. And you know, guys would ground the bases and catch a piece of a guy once in a while just to see what was going on. And one time I remember Donnie Clark got run over at home plate when we were playing this team Tisdale. And it's funny because Jake Neighbor's dad walked up to me the other day at a game and he said, "Hey, I got to tell you a story."

And I go, "What?" He go, I go, "I'm" and tells me, you know, he's Jake's dad. And I said, "Nice to meet you, sir." He goes, "You he goes, you don't know this, but he goes, I played in the game when we had the brawl in Tisdale in in fastball." Well, he goes, "M wasn't much of a brawl, but and Joey Kosher was playing short that day. Wendle was at third and Don got run over and the fastest guy at home plate was Barry Melrose of all guys. He smokes this guy and then we have this big melee. Well, I'm trottting in from the field and Neil Clark's at center field and he's standing there with his arms caught. He goes, "What are you doing?" I go, "Come [snorts] on." He goes, "What are we going in there for?" I go, "I I don't know. Like, what the hell are we going to do? You got Joey Wendell, Keller, Killer Kaminsky, Melrose, and Don Clark." And there was no sense me going in into the middle of the uh home plate

area because it was nothing that I was going to accomplish as a 22-y old that those guys hadn't cleaned up already.

Did you grow up with Wendell like like living near him? Yeah. Yeah. Was he always a phenom coming up like and known as this tough [ __ ]

Yeah. Yeah. And you know what's crazy? I don't I Well, I know of one street fight that Wendell was in. Um, Joey won a weekend. Uh, Killer won a weekend. You know, I had my Wendell never. And as a matter of fact, we had a we got into it with a bunch of bikers in uh in a bar called Karoki Bar and and his younger brother Sharky was just tough. Like just tough. Just like Wendle, but six foot two. and he grabbed this biker and swung him around and broke the guy's leg cuz the foosball table was bolted to the floor and he leg whipped the pole and snapped his leg now boys 90°

Jesus and and Wendle is standing there. Wendle goes, "Carrie, Carrie." And he and he grabs Sharky by we call him Sharky. Grabs a shark, lifts him up. He goes, "That's enough. This guy pulled his coat over his his leather over his head and he looked like a different person. Like he looked like somebody I don't know what the hell happened to when he when he broke his leg and went down and Terry started punching him. He looked one way and when he got up he looked like a different human being. He was a mess. And Wendle Wendell had a hold of the guy. And Joey and Don are just walking in and Joey fires a shuffleboard rocket.

This group now if that hits somebody that's it right dead. and and Don runs at the guy that Wendell's got a hold of. Thinks, well, Wendle can't be fighting. He's first overall pick. So, he suckers this guy who's got a broken leg and already disfigured and just smack down he goes. And at the time and and you and you can check with these guys because they're all the guys over there, but Lane Lambert, Kevin Kaminsky, Lane was working at the hockey school with a guy by the name of uh Coral Not Rob Porro, but he played Nderondac.

Anyway, those two guys had walked in. Brad Lowour was there. They'll tell you it was a complete It was Roadhouse boys.

Yeah. And like, who are those guys? Local softball team. Yeah. And it was hilarious. We had a great time. We We just all stuck together and we're very fortunate group to grow up. We all grew up there, you know. So for us, can you imagine McDavid?

I am going to play fastball this summer. What? No, you're not. Wendell, no problem. You know, and and and the people that would come to watch us because of Wendell was unbelievable. Like, you know, he was well, every farmer in Saskatchewan wanted to, you know, they loved him, right? And he was such a humble guy and he's such a good human being.

Oh, he's the best. The best. He's uh would you say he's the most famous person from Saskatchewan? Gordy how

okay that's yeah tough to beat that day where he was from base yeah number two though

and Gordy and then Wendell like Wendell right now and then uh an army did you get a chance to be

we boys did I get are you setting me up here I'm setting you up right on a tea buddy

okay softball Gordy how I'm in uh Hartford going to camp I get to Toronto report. I [snorts] see Gordy How. I can't believe I'm looking at Gordy How. And finally, I get enough mustard in me and I walk over and I say, "Mr. How, my name is Kelly Chase. And um I just want to thank you. I played baseball at Gordy Park. I played football in Gordy Bowl and I played hockey in Gordy Arena. And thanks for everything you've done for us kids in Saskatchewan." Sit down, lad. Sit down talking. Where are you going? And I said, "I'm going to Hartford with you and I'm going to camp." He goes, "No, that's great." He goes, "What? You know, what round did you get drafted?" I said, "I didn't get drafted. Uh, I'm a free agent and they just I must have needed some guys." And and uh so he asked me if I would if I would sign a camp try out.

And so, and I was 18, so you know, he goes, "Well, that's great." So, we're talking for a bit and they cancel our flight. And they said, "Mr. How?" But before they cancel the flight, they tell him first said, "We have you set up in the hotel in the in the Marriott in Toronto airport." And and Whit, you know what it's like to spend a couple nights in Toronto airport, right?

Oh, Pier gez. So So we He goes, "Come on." And she goes, "Are you guys together?" He goes, "Yeah, we're rooming together, boys. I'm rooming with Gordy."

Wow. Okay. Yeah. Let God's honest truth. And and when Mark tells the story, Mark How now tells the story. He he stretches it a bit, but anyways, I get up to the room. He goes, "Throw your throw your bags and let's go have a have a steak and a beer." Well, I'm not even legal enough to to drink beer yet, but I'm I'm like really like I can't get downstairs with him. And I'm sitting there and we're talking and he says, "You got to make sure they know who you are, son." He goes, "Because they didn't [snorts and clears throat] draft you."

Okay. So, none of those scouts are going to sit in a meeting and say, "Let's, you know, go to bat for this kid." So, he said, "You got to make sure they know exactly who you are." So, he said, "If you you score, you celebrate like it's a goal." He said, "If you hit, make it a big hit and and and and make it matter. Make sure everyone knows you hit him. If you fight, he goes, you fight so that you they know who you are." So, okay. So, I go out and Billy Root, who the only thing I know about Billy Root is I watched him with the Leafs on TV on hockey night in Canada and I got his hockey card, but he throws a bad pass to a guy and I smoke the guy. The guy, the kid gets up. He's he played in college.

He was 24. [snorts] He didn't know how to fight, but he came after me and he got third. Actually, he didn't do bad compared to Billy. Billy came after me and Billy got third. And then I felt awful, but I was like, you know what, he's he's a veteran player, but she, you know, he came after me, but he felt bad for the pass he made. So anyways, the next day, my roommate is Paul Wallace. Paul goes in the morning, "Hey kid, you you keep your head up out there today, okay?" And I'm like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." So uh I I, uh, go out on the ice, uh, and off the face off, this defenseman jumps me and smashes me in the face, knocks me down, pounds. Like, I don't even have my gloves on. I don't even get my gloves off. And I'm pissed off. And I'm And I'm like, I'm I'm getting this guy, right?

So, I said, I'm I'm I'm yelling at him off the bench. yelling at him off the bench. Tex Evans is the coach, head coach, but he's on my he's coaching our team that day. Tex goes, "Hey kid, sit down." He's trying to save my life. He doesn't real I don't realize because I'm this dumb rookie that all these veteran players are pissed off at me, right? They're they're they're pissed off and they want a piece of me, but I don't know this. I'm just this dumb kid off the farm. So, he won't put me out there. He won't put me out there. He won't put me out there.

I'm telling you guys, I went out the third shift of the game and I didn't get out the We played two halves. I didn't get another shift.

You thought he was just mad at you. Maybe. Yeah. Zambon's come out on the ice. This guy's leaning down on the net talking to Stevie Weekes. I make the turn behind the Zamboni and I give him the stick right over the head. I give him what's left of the stick in the stomach and I jump on them and I start smoking. Okay. And I'm pissed off. And at that point, everyone's on top of me. Any anybody that was not off the ice for the intermission thing is on top of me. Well, in the second half, I got to fight. Sean Cronin, Paul McDermott, like it was like this kid Chris Brandt. I was just like, "Oh my god." And the only reason uh I didn't have to fight what was the tough guy's name there. [snorts] You might know because it was back with Tory Robert.

So you just three fights back to back back to back to like not not no change style.

No Texas saying no just stay out there. In other words, you dumb little prick. You you and and you know Cronin's massive. Chris Brandt was tough. Uh the only reason Tory Robertson didn't kick the [ __ ] out of me. was on the bench and the and he would skate around once in a while, but he had broke his leg and and he had a rod in his leg still. And he was yelling at me. I'm like, "Oh my god." And I'm thinking and I go off the ice to shower and I'm thinking in my head, "Okay, I got two more days and they're going to make cuts and you know, I'll go back to Saskatoon.

I'm going to be I'm gonna have to fight like 20 times or whatever, right? I'm no one on my own team will talk to me. I mean, I I can tell I've I I I got, you know, so I'm not feeling great about myself at this point, boys. We're at Avon Old Farms. We we w I walk out of the arena to the bus about five minutes before the bus is going to take off and this big old arm comes around me and it's Gordy. How he says, "Hey kid, they [ __ ] know who you are now."

[ __ ] AJ. That is [ __ ] unbelievable. If I ever hear the saying, don't meet your idols, you'll get disappointed. I'll remember that story right now.

100%. And you know what? He stood in front of you. I'll tell you what a gentleman he is. He stood in front of that bus till at least 5 minutes after it was supposed to leave. And no one's going to say to Gordy. No one's saying to Gordy, "Get him on the bus." So I get on the bus and everyone's looking at me like, "Oh [ __ ] he knows Gordy." Right? I get to my hotel room. My message lights on. It's It's Marty. How? He goes, "Hey, kid. How are you doing?" It's Marty. Uh, give me a call. So, I call Marty. I go, "Hey, hey, Marty." Uh, Kelly Chase. He goes, "Heard you had a tough morning." I said, "Well, yeah, I probably did it to myself, you know." I said, he said, "Listen, we're going to check some lobster traps on the boat, and I want you to come on the boat. Dad said to grab you, take you out." I said, 'I think I better just stay here and ice down a little bit. I think, but I appreciate you asking me. And he's like,

no, we're coming to get you. And by we, I don't know who that is. I get on the boat. It's Quenville Francis, Shane Shera, Marty, um Kevin Denine, who had got hurt at the uh Canada Cup, and there was another guy there that that was Le. Anyways, I'm on the boat with the the veterans. I never fought one more time at training camp. We went into Boston. I fought twice in Boston in an exhibition game. I was there for another five days. They sent me home. Well, they offered me a contract. I said, "Mr. Francis, with all due respect, I don't think I'm ready for this. I think I need another year of junior." And I went back to junior. And they offered me a contract at the end of the year. I signed with the Blues. Bobby Plagger and Patty Janelle got Twister and I had a sign. I'll tell you what, Gordy How changed he changed my he changed my life, but I was an orary little bastard to start with, but if he

I'm sitting there thinking I'm going to embarrass him for what happened. I'm not going to let that happen. So, I was pretty lucky to fall into

Holy [ __ ] That's incredible. That is one of the That's might be the top story I've ever heard on this podcast. and Chaser. That's that that's probably

that's Gordy going in and being like, "All right, guys. He's he's had enough." Like this kid, right? He's calling off dogs.

Well, I guarantee you he went in that scouts room and and made some racket cuz I could tell.

He was probably like, "Hey, boys." Like, I might have given this guy the wrong advice. I told this guy to do this.

I'm gonna I'm gonna eat this one. Well, the funny thing about it is is that, you know, like I I you know, I I I was going to go there and just play the way I played anyway, but I sure as hell wouldn't have gone out and well, who knows? I I don't think I would have cracked anybody with my stick when the Zambonies were out there. But I but I was just I was embarrassed first of all, and then I I have this in the back of my head of this this guy saying, "You know what? You get you're getting one. Don't mess up the chance."

And that's kind of why I think I reacted the way I did. That must be because everyone you talk to and you mention your name, they just say how good of a teammate you were always there for your guys. You know, obviously being the fighter, you those you guys are the you guys are our protectors, right? You take care of your teammates on and off the ice. But is do you think that that kind of stemmed from that too? Just a a guy of Gordy H or it's just kind of how you were?

Well, you know what? It's with that. Ask me that, right, boys? I can't see it. Is the answer.

Oh, the answer. Well, here's here's the thing. I'm I'm I'm struggling a bit right now with the sight and the hearing and and the hardest thing for me is not to run at the fight right now. You know,

got a caregiver, got a, you know, just struggling with some stuff. But I've always wanted I never [cough] I [clears throat] always wanted to be like, you know, whose car we taking? I want to be that guy.

Yeah. I want to be the 3:00 a.m. guy. And the And the craziest thing about it is when I grew up with those guys that I grew up with, I thought everyone was like that cuz that group was, "Hey, call Wendell right now and he's coming. Call Joey right now. He's coming. Kill her." Well, enough said. You know, like, so I don't really know if it's the way our dads brought us up and they were all friends. I don't know. I don't know. I don't I But I I really miss like I want to help people and and I think that part of it was ingrained in me from being young. But but I think when Gordy, you know, he made a great point about don't miss your opportunity.

Don't miss your chance. Yeah. Take your swing. You know, you never have, Chaser. You never have, buddy. Um

Well, I've been very lucky because I've had great teammates. I've had played on some really good teams. Um unfortunately, we never won the cup here till 19 and I was, you know, broadcasting it not the same. But to see the community and what happened in the community and and the way people reacted was awesome. It was so great. And so that's the blessing of it all. Like I've had I've had a lot of good [ __ ] happen to me. And um you know I feel I just feel blessed because so every time I have those moments where I'm feeling a little sorry for myself, I straighten my [ __ ] out and say, "Listen, somebody's got it worse. Quit whiny and pick yourself up." I was six days without hearing and and and completely blind and I probably cried for four of them. But when I when it when I had a little bit of light and then I had a little bit of hearing come back, I was like, "What are you doing?" [clears throat] Like, "What

are you doing? All the [ __ ] you've done in your life and all the people you've got to meet and be with and the things you've done. What are you whining about?" And you know, so if you have those moments, you got to have them when you're on your own. But I can tell you it's uh it's a game changer when you uh when you start looking around all look at all the [ __ ] we have you guys, right? Like

and people are like, well, you know, you've helped. So I'm like, hey, just you put on a jersey. You got an obligation to help. That's that's the key, you know. I mean, you guys do a lot of good stuff for a lot of people. And are you having fun? Of course you are. And are you blessed to have money? Of course you are. Well, you don't take it for granted. I've I've rarely called into any one of you or and and and well, I don't think I've ever. And you don't say, "Yeah, let me see what I can help with." And that's I mean, that's a hockey thing I think to start with, but it's more of the character of the of the guys we have, you know? That's pretty cool.

Yeah. Well, it's important though that you guys laid the foundation and and I'm sure you know the guys who laid the foundation before you did, Chaser. And I just want I just hope that you know that like of how appreciative like all the current guys and younger guys are than you of what you've done in order to set that foundation and what you continue to do, especially with with the fact that you're fighting the way you're fighting as well. So, we love you, dude. And and you guys are the [ __ ] best. everything you've done for the alumni.

Um, all the former players with the Blues, it's just it's it's so noticeable, dude. And you and you and and you're you're the [ __ ] man and we love you, brother.

It's truly like when they say leave the jersey in a better place, like you're a true example of that, of what you what you mean to the NHL and, you know, giving back and being there for people. So, I want to say thank you as well. Chaser, I got your jersey back there from the Winter Classic cuz another guy and a prime example is the guy at the top, the great one, Wayne Gretzky. He had Ty and Trevor bring in a jersey for everyone. They're actually ended up being an extra one. So, I'm wear I actually wearing one and I got one right there in the corner of my office. But nice.

Um yeah, but you guys and and and what you've done for the alumni about the players like you know before and even after you um has just been remarkable, buddy. and we love you and you're the prime example of it all.

Well, I appreciate it and I I'd like to there's a lot of guys that stepped up when we needed to help with that alumni and you know, Wayne Mcbine and Paul Cavalini and and of course then we hired heels and and and it's changed considerably and it's only going to get better, but there's no reason for us not looking out for one another with with all the blessings we have. So, thanks guys for that. I I wanted to show you something cool. I don't know how to do this. So, I'm going to try, but I wanted to show you.

I don't know how you're going to top that Gordy story, dude. That might be crazy.

But I brought I bought a sticky smashed over the guy's head. I I don't want to say who it is either because I found out pissed off that I

Hey, what a podcast studio, Jason. Oh, it's unreal. Okay, that's the studio. Look, the studio. Okay. Wait, what? Where? What? Which what which what which Okay, now we're going to go outside and I want to show you guys something here. This is the We have a watch party in. Okay, boys. Give you a little idea for chicklets. So, we got this little area.

Oh, yeah. The bar over here, which we haven't finished. No surprise. Yeah, no surprise. Weird.

And then, boys, this little gem right here. I bought this car and I'm going to raffle it off. [snorts]

Okay. That's pretty tight, boys. I got a I bought a Lamborghini and I'm and I'm uh and I put 128 former players on the car. I put the championship team, the Hall of Famers for the Blues. And then I put like and every picture is like a fight, a hit, guys with his gloves off. Went sake with his when Johnny played here. Jackman punching a guy in the face. Proer slashing somebody as usual. Uh Bobby Pigger. There's Jack's fighting. Uh I got all I got 128 stories on this car. So we're going to auction off these raffle tickets for a hundred bucks a ticket. And then in June, we're going to draw for the car and someone wins a Lamborghini. I'm not a Lamborghini, boys. I'm not a Lamborghini guy. A guy like me, uh give me a Chevy truck and I'm okay.

[ __ ] Was Big Walt behind the bar back there? Was that the [clears throat] food trough in front?

Jason, you're you're you're a legend, buddy. Uh to to be able to say I played in a league that that you played in, guys like you. That's what Keith is saying about leaving it in such an incredible spot. We love you. We're all praying for you. You keep fighting like we know you are. Thanks for coming on, buddy. And everyone check out IceGuardians. It's gold. Just as you just heard for 30, 40 minutes with Chaser. Thank you.

Hey guys, thanks again for having me. I appreciate it. My son didn't want me showing any of the watch party, the car, nothing, but he's shaking his head at me like, "Shut up, Dad." Right now, but that was awesome. The car.

Well, well, it's funny because when when I asked the guy, I said, "What do you think?" He's like, "So, it's named the Ice Guardian." So the guys on there are the guys that you just talked about integrity of the guys that how they leave the game. Those are the guys. The Barrett Jackman's, BJ Cromine, Alex Steen, uh Johnny Wick, uh you know, Twister, just guys that Walt, you know, treat the trainers the right way, treat the the the staff the right way, and and then and then of course, you know, the mentorship to the younger guys. So I I'm excited that uh we can do this and see proceeds are going to go to siteman cancer and I just wanted to make sure that the guys were recognized that don't get a lot of recognition.

Amazing. We'll talk to you soon buddy. Thank you. Cheers. We love you guys. We love you Chaser.

Wow. That's I mean that's a special interview right there boys. It's really hard to hear that good of a person going through that. And

yeah, everyone um you know, Keith and I really are are very close friend at home right now. Kenny, his wife's fighting the same thing. And

just the perspective and and hearing how hard he's fighting and how he's looking at the the positive side of things. Same with with Kenny's wife. It's just uh that's tough [ __ ] Very tough [ __ ] So praying for for everyone that anyone knows out there fighting that battle.

Um and my my nephew my nephew Owen too. He just had his last treatment. Shout out Owen. Just had his last leukemia.

He's coming over tonight. We're going to skate tonight. Uh get some pizza. Um yeah. O dog. Final. He rang that [ __ ] bell, Keith.

No way. Yep. [ __ ] a man. That's awesome. So, it's the uh Yeah, it's the real life [ __ ] that that's tough. Uh makes makes us appreciate what we're doing. Just talking hockey and and figuring, you know, and realizing what people are fighting through and in good news in the league. Showtime, baby. Last night, 500 goals. Um, the fifth American player to ever get 500 goals. I think he's six points away from passing Mike Madano to be the all-time leading scorer as an Americanb born player in the NHL. A true legend of the game, an unreal speech in the locker room. Anyone, I don't think we can play it, but uh go to Detroit's go to Detroit's Twitter and you're going to see just a guy that he appreciates everything. He talks about, you know, all the years in the Blackhawks, but how proud he is to be a Detroit Redwing. He I think right away, of course, hockey player style took me too long. Um, I

should have done this quicker, but it was cool. He said, "I was never on the ice. I'm usually never on the ice for for the when the goalies pulled and and they threw him out there. The crowd went nuts right when he got on the ice. He buries the empty net. Our whole team comes on the ice." Yeah. just just watching the interview or his speech in the locker room and then after his interview with his son I I think he said his son wants to get 600 and play till he's 75.

Yeah. And it's so cool like he came into this league this superstar 18year-old and he had no kids and he's probably a little wild off the ice and like how he's grown up how different of a person he is. I'm sure he'd say it. I know I am. You go 15, 20 years, you're just you can't even really remember the type of person you were before. And he's still doing it. So, I don't know if you guys have anything to say besides that's probably the greatest American born.

Greatest American. No. Yeah, you can't argue that. Can't argue. I mean, obviously great company, too, with him and uh yeah, what a great photo.

That's awesome. He said that, too. He's like, I want to get a picture right now with everyone. So, I'm sure they would have done it anyways but

but like you look you look at the guys with the 500 American Jr. Big Walt and Madano and him and I mean those are those are the the Mount Rushmore for Americanborn players especially forwards and so cool like you I mean like you said even like we all got to play against him. Got to see him in his prime when he was showtime showtime. Like he was so [ __ ] good. It was insane. like making other guys better while he was doing stuff on his own like he just he had it all right and when he came in the league I remember guys would be like ah he's too small he's not going to be able to you know do what he did in junior and stuff like that and he just you know he had that mentality where nothing was going to stop him didn't matter like when you know guys were all over him beating him up trying to you know get under his skin he just handled his business scored goals won cups and you know been been an unbelievable player

for the last 20 years. It seems like Yeah, he wasn't like when he went first, I wouldn't say everyone's like, "Oh, this is the next one generational." There's a lot of question marks.

And then him and Taves. Yeah, it's uh what a run. And then Detroit, he said it too. He's like, "We got bigger things in here. They haven't been in the playoffs in a while. They're in a great spot right now. They got a great core. Fun team to watch." So, and he turned that Chicago like Chicago wit, right? like they were down in the dumps like not getting anyone at their games and the look look at what that building's like now. Like he turned that franchise around. I could see him. Not that Detroit's franchise is down, but like getting them back to the playoffs. He's a guy that can do that.

Uh Biz, there's there's another guest. Um speaking of all time guys and great American forwards, let's bring them in. Let's bring them IN RIGHT NOW. BUGSY. OH [ __ ]

YEAH. YEAH. Couple clicks for Bugsy. It's been a while. How you doing? It's been a while.

You look better than ever though. Holy [ __ ] Bugs. Oh, I love I love you guys. Just

those popcorn ceilings. Bugsy. Uh I'm not sure. I'm at a rental. Yeah. Okay. Up in Minnesota.

2026. Uh just want to say congratulations to you guys. You guys are moving on to Netflix now. Bigger and better things. But, uh, all the love and growth you have is you guys just being yourselves, being authentic, and, uh, you know, Chaser really sums up, I think, that unique brotherhood that we all share. Um, and actually, I think if you really look at the numbers, I think there's like 5,000 of us alive, uh, NHL alumni. So, it is a small, unique group, you know, different mentality. Uh, but it is a big family. and now to be able to, you know, chase or inspire, I think, our generation to do more and pull guys together and really support each other, you know, led by Glenn and everyone's been uh, you know, a family and you guys, we've all been there from the beginning wet coming into the league.

So, it's uh, great to see how we continue to grow that uh, you know, hockey spirit.

Wow. Well said, Bugsy. Holy, from the heart. from the Bugsy. I don't think we've told you yet though, but part of that Netflix deal is me and you getting in the octagon together and that's how it kind of derived. They saw our fight in the sandbagger and they said, "We want some more of that."

Remember I I remember texting you when the Jake Pauls, this is like a few years ago, they were talking about doing stuff. I'm like, "We should challenge them." And then you like then you Google them like, "Oh [ __ ] he was actually like a professional RA. He's college wrestler like oh [ __ ] maybe we shouldn't challenge."

Yeah. Yeah. 2v2. Me and Biz and Bugsy verse the Pauls. How's that going? Have you been doing all the jiu-jitsu stuff still? Like what's been going on?

Getting uh injured. So, no kinder. Yeah, kind of uh you know, laid off the the strong physical contact for now. But yeah, staying active, kind of, you know, hitting boxing a little bit, doing stuff, staying active.

Hey, you've done a ton for alumni as well. You continue to do. You're on some Tampa broadcast uh intermissions and you're doing a ton with um soldiers, right? Like we got Warriors, former soldiers. You're playing a lot of hockey with these guys. So, how's everything going with that?

Uh great. Yeah, it's been uh great talking hockey. So, with the Penguins and Lightning kind of do, uh the game analyst stuff. So, it's been a lot of fun. Uh especially, uh you know, just being able to you know, talk hockey and be be there when Sid's breaking all these amazing milestones. and and then in Tampa, we got a great group of alumni guys there uh working together, you know, with Maroon and Hall and Coburn. So, it's a lot of fun. We almost we're borderline I'm not sure if we like cross the line, you know, on TV. I'm like I'm just kind of treating it like a podcast.

So, we got a few warnings, me and Maroon, but it's it's okay. It's been a lot of fun. So,

I wear those with a badge of honor, the warnings. Oh, yeah. I'm like, I saw do it. I saw Biz do it.

Oh yeah. So you're going to floss your cornhole with a towel on the next PEN's broadcast.

Oh, you got to you got to put it in the sun, right? Yeah. What? Your [ __ ] cornhole?

Yeah. You put your balls in the sun. Yeah. Get your testosterone up his You should know that by now.

Come on. You're doing that. He'll be doing that. He'll be on the law doing it. This is what you're doing on on the lawn chair. You're just getting happy baby. Yeah. Get the happy baby up there. Get it going. You brought up Sid. Can you believe this? Can you believe this is still happening?

Uh that's where it's I mean it I kind of Yes. Because it's like from an early age and and we we mentioned kind of like uh the veterans and first responders through our foundation we work with. We talk about you know mental health and one example I use I remember training in Veil with them. They're talking about gut health and all this stuff. They're sprinting up the mountain. I'm like I got the beers in the backpack you know coming up at the end. I'm like, I'll just take my time, crack the beers. But now, last few years really understand the science of the chemical makeup of our bodies, how your your your gut actually produces like 90% of your happy chemicals. So, just kind of relating some of these stories to to then you have optimal performance based on, you know, the food you eat. So, if you think of your stomach and your vag nerves, kind of like your Wi-Fi to your brain.

So if you're eating all processed food and you're always stressed out and some of these kind of women working double jobs and they're, you know, putting on the line, it's kind of like just awareness of maybe we can, you know, change our diet a little bit or add little little things. But Sid, you know, he's been doing that since he's freaking 18, 15. Uh really having that understanding of his uh you know, body for him to have this optimal performance. So, it's uh yeah, no surprise, but it's amazing to sit there and watch him just continue to perform at an elite level. And then again, I think if you look at all those top guys, they just bring everyone along. They care about everybody, you know, the janitor, I think, to everyone, treat everyone with respect. And uh it's just beautiful uh and awesome to see them, you know, continue to to move on. All three of those guys, you know, it's crazy to imagine they've been playing

together for so long. That's something special you won't see probably ever again.

Bugsy. Um, Hazy FaceTimed me recently with Sid and and Sid said, "Do you still have He said, "Sid has a question for you." What's up? What's up, buddy? Said, "Do you still have restless leg syndrome?" Like that's what he was thinking. I'm like, "Yeah, I do. My foot's always shaking." He's like, "That's so weird." And then Tanganger was at the table, too, there pregame meal. And Tanger's like, "Man, you were so mean to me at the VA." I said Bugsy was mean to me.

Well, you're my you're my roommate in Yans. I think he's like we're trying to go to sleep and you just the wrestle of the sheets. I'm like, bud, like just go in the bathroom if you got to like do what you got to do. Like I'm [ __ ] right here. You know,

he's twisting one off. Yeah. He's like, dude, what's going on over there? I'm like that's your foot. You better get that checked out. We would we were just in LA and we were you know hot stoing in Wit's room and he jumped in his bed and he had the foot going the Roger Rabbit foot and I'm like dude I thought it was maybe just when you played like the nervousness like you're still doing it at 43 years old you got it made in the shade you got your own vodka and you're still doing this

I don't control that foot I don't know what you want me to tell you Bugsy is that magnesium maybe or something in there like Bugsy

you're talking gut health I need probably get into like the guts getting a little ridiculous, right? The skinny fat look. So, you're are you still like no sugar, never dessert, always healthy.

Is that where you're at? I wouldn't say it's just balance, right? At the end of the day, if you're here and there, I think, you know, at the end of the day, it's it's hard to you can't be perfect. And that's where we kind of even have a guide we hand out at the the events. And it's kind of like the word no is never in there. So, it's maybe like less of this, more of this, right? because I think for a lot of people it's overwhelming. But you look at what's happening kind of in the world now with the food pyramid getting kind of upside down the other day and just really looking back our our roots and health and embracing those like the whole foods and all that movement and just back to the way we're kind of supposed to be. So I think that's uh [snorts] you know for everyone. I think at the end of the day it's just people being aware of it and then making obviously people can make whatever choice they want. It's like

cigarettes, put the skull and crossbones on there. If you want to smoke, smoke, but you know what you might get, you know? So, I think that's uh been great for for everyone.

You're you're working with the Pens and Tampa. Pens are are surprising a lot of people, at least me. And Tampa, I think like they got I've said them or Florida are going to come out of the East. Are you do you believe in the Lightning that much?

100%. 100%. They they've been uh from camp on they just have this kind of uh team mentality I think around their blue paint. They don't let anyone hang out there more than a second or two and someone's getting that hard cross checked or shoved from all all defenseman. They've had some injuries this year. So they had a lot of great guys step up. Um and it's that team team toughness. I think unfortunately like with the Florida and Tampa rivalry which is I think is great for hockey. I was calling that preseason game where there's a 17 game with Conducts and 300 pimps and the Lightning got fined and all this crazy stuff, but you know, Florida is elbowing their guys and running their guys from behind and eventually you got to like punch back, right? It's the bully. So, they have embraced that. Even this year, Gensel ended up being uh 77 Mikula, the defenseman there for Florida.

I mean, Gensel gets elbowed right in the back of the head. Gensel's played 633 games and finally he was like enough and he you know threw his punches. I'm like and so everyone's kind of stepping out of their comfort zone a little bit to to stick together and that's where I think that early season shenanigans kind of brought the boys together and I think from Brass down and Coupe really have that culture of you know we're going to be in your face, we're going to work hard and we stick together. So that's really what we've we've seen that in action. And so I think that's where even Cooch is kind of getting in the mix, you know, he's not scared to throw the body around and that just leads leads the charge for everyone else. So when everyone else gets called up into these positions, kind of next man up mentality as we know and they all been kind of really thriving in those roles. You know, you look at even Radish on the

power play, Moser, those guys have been kind of playing the one two without Hemman and McD there and done a great job. Um, and Radish is now just a play, you know, elite uh, defenseman in the league and he he was a healthy scratch at the beginning of the year. So, I mean, it shows uh, again that the depth they have there. So, I really like their their chances coming out of the East.

You better [ __ ] pay him this off season. Well, you only got Yeah, I mean, that's part of the game. I mean,

that's out of that's out of your league, though, By You That's not your thing. You better be saying on the broadcast. You better buck up, Breeze Bo. able to pay some pay some guy money. Uh yo, what what what happened to your Wi-Fi? It was so good at the start of the show and then now it's kind of a little janky.

Oh. Oh, it's a little better now. Oh, are you is it me or is it you? It was once he said he tans his his butthole. The internet's like I I'm scratching out on this one.

Is it because Do you shave it? Do you wax it? What do you do to your butthole? No, it's it's a little trim job, but nothing uh

little trim job. Yeah, nothing nothing crazy, you know. All right, Bugs. The internet is a little is a little wonky, but we'll chat with you soon. Hey, you have a face for Netflix, so we'll have you on a couple episodes here, right? Can we Can we catch up more?

Sure. I love that. But yeah, congratulations to you guys. from from now until then, every time you think of like or talk about an old story, write it down and we could do another long 90minute sitdown for Netflix.

It'll be him making fun of me of all the crazy antics Benji got up to at St. Cloud. Even with welcoming into the league could be a good 90 minutes.

No, no, let's let's stay away from that one. I mean, how many how many shoes did you go through with Oh, how many shoes of mine did you ruin? Uh, that would be six total shoes. Three pairs. Um, dead mouse in one,

blue spray, spray painted, fluorescent blue another, and the final very expensive pair nailed to my locker.

Nice. Thanks again, Bugs. Yeah, just making sure they don't go anywhere. Oh, that guy. That laugh and that smile. Talk about not aging. Jesus. Um, Mlin Celbrini, boys, this is actually becoming ridiculous. I know I mentioned it earlier. Knocking out the puck out of midair on his backhand. Um, down a goal against the LA Kings, then dangling somebody at the blue line with just a a wide stick handle. Bring it in front. I think Fogle like got a hard stick check on him. Didn't matter. He snipes at five hole, ties it up, and then with one of the assists of the year in overtime. Um just the the the false information like the everyone thinks he's shooting. He slides it over wide open net. He just continu every night I look at Celbrini three points McDavid three or four McKinnon three or four. So I it's incredible. I mean look at this. I mean the fact Celbrini is sticking in there.

I think he's on pace for like 130 points right around there roughly. Maybe even more at this point. But McKinnon and McDavid look like this this Art Ross race will be legendary. So, the league's awesome right now. Um, something else. We had a quick hit here. Biz, you you announced it on our show. Great job. And they made it official. Utah will play Colorado in next year's Winter Classic.

I thought I I guess I kind of [ __ ] that one up. Why? In a sense of like I I I just was like, "Oh, I heard it's this. Oh, well, haha." And I didn't really know. And then it was. So, I kind of ruined the surprise.

Yeah. I don't think it's more It's not about the surprise, though. It's more about I think it's going to be a good spot for one. I'd love to go out there.

It's also It's also too if whoever told you's got to know that you're loose lips busy boy like nothing to the chest.

That's right. I blame them for telling me. Might as well tell Mincy. Well, and another thing too, it's like Smith just spends a billion on the team. I feel like they should give him a cookie like this. Like that's [ __ ] that was probably talked about and rightfully so. They got McKinnon coming to town. So, I mean, that's a that's a hot ticket. They're gonna have a lot of people from Colorado probably travel over. So, and you look at the stadium and the fact that you could see the mountains in the background. It's almost like they're finally doing the Lake Tahoe experiment like with fans in the right spot and not somewhere where it's going to melt down and Nate's going to be toepicking in the neutral zone. So, it's good.

Yeah, I'm fired up. Um, what else is on here? I'm sorry. All right, I'm just kind of going through this quick. Uh

I have a 240 uh uh haircut. Okay, so we got 30 minutes here. Well, we got RA coming on still.

Well, then we also have another guest. Yan's uh Yans has a surprise guest for you guys here. So, I'll pop him in now quickly.

Welcome in Scott Lton. Wow. Wow. Scotty L. Look at that. What a beautiful man. What's up, Scotty?

Not too much. Not too much. Just a little day off. Nice to have a little day off,

especially after playing your old squad the other night. Out of body experience for sure. I thought uh it was crazy. It was wild spending that much time there and being there with Yu Yans. It's uh it's cool going back to the city, but at the same time, it's kind of nice to get that tying goal and uh kind of stick it to him.

No. So that's was that the most nervous you've ever been for for a game or is is that fair to say?

Yeah, I would say so. Honestly, it was just like till the video tribute ended and then kind of got to my game, but uh had a ton of family there. Uh the Flyers are first class. They gave him a suite. Um had Chef Greg in the suite. He was in his Flyers jersey. Our chef in Philly was a complete beauty. And then uh some people from charities there and everything like that. So, it was uh it was a special night for me.

Who's Chef Greg? Twin. He's hard to describe. He's uh he's like Minty almost. That's exactly right. He's he's a little googly eyed and uh he's the team chef in Philly. He's been there since 2011 and he's honestly just the best guy in the world. Like

do anything for the boys. remember he we made him dress up in the lacrosse goalie gear and we shot balls at him like as hard as we could and just hitting him everywhere, hitting him in the nuts and he's just like, "Ah, this is [ __ ] great." He loves it. I was in the hot tub one time after practice and he got in full chef suit just sat beside me right in the hot tub like no not even a question asked. Sat right beside me and had a fiveminute hot tub in his full scrub.

Who told him to do it? Nothing. He just walks in and he I'm the last guy there and he hops in the tub with me. It's absolutely

He's Lah's kids godfather. They're they're best friends. Yans always has to bring it further, right?

He would be close. He would be close. He's in the will. So, how did how did it all begin, Yans? Like I guess he was already there before you got there. Was he already like mixed in with the team or did you amplify that when you got there Yans?

No. No. They they were his guy. Lahi Lahi was the guy in Philly. That's why I thought it was so cool because going back to like you were you were the heart and soul of that team for a long time. You ask anyone in that locker room like Lahi was the guy in there. So that's why I was so happy for you last night or just just such a cool moment for you that you deserve. But it's also too like you've been in the league a long time now and I I heard rumors like you're still getting your shoes filled with cement and [ __ ] What is going on here?

No, they're bullying you in Toronto. I wore my I wore my nice Javanchis into the rink. Really nice. They were about 10 years old. A little bit of cranberry juice on the laces, stuff like that. But uh I I came back and uh there was one shoe filled with cement. So I'm like, there's no way a guy put cement in my shoes on a game day. So then I'm like, what the hell is going on here? So then finally figured out who it was and I had a new pair of shoes uh shoes uh in my stall a couple days later which was nice. I got a free free pair out of it.

Wow. You had to let him know you knew like you almost put the the thread out there like I know it was you. I want new shoes.

That's exactly right. Well likes to mess with me quite a bit uh in the rink. So he uh he got me on that one. Then I was walking out in the island. I had uh my name plate on my helmet, you know, like Scott. So, I had that one going out to the rink, too. So, I'm just getting toyed with

like the Did they not know it was your shoes to begin with or they did it and then realize how upset you were that it was a game day and then they had to replace him?

No, no, I wasn't that upset, but I was I was on the hunt. I was on the hunt for someone and I wanted them back bad.

Okay. So when you say that, do you always go like, "Fuck, what are you do? What are you doing? You put a a bomb in their car?" Like how h how how intense do you get with the rebuttal?

I put Greg at their house. I got TK one year with like I got a sauna for my basement and I had all those like popcorn things or whatever in the uh in the packaging. So I filled this whole car with every uh every little popcorn thing. I got uh well Sanheim in Philly we call him the wacky wavy inflatable tube man. You know the thing outside the car dealership because he's so long and lanky. So I went on Amazon and I bought one for for a couple hundred bucks and I put his face on it and we had it outside of our rink for like two weeks and then they finally had to take it down.

Hey, you say that good. Say it again. Wacky wavy inflatable tube man. Say it. Say it five times. You're not on the least. You can't bully him.

He's an ambassador. No, cuz they say it fast on on Family Guy. So, I want to see if he could do the Family Guy version.

I don't got it in me. I don't think it's your day off. E, I'm not working today.

In the locker room these days. What's that? Who you sitting next to in the locker room? I I used to make the trainers meet sit next to Liy every

I sit beside Matthews and D most of the time. And then uh we were I was on uh Slinky Island in Long Island. Uh a cowboy, we call him Slinky. And uh me and him were sent together what a great kid he is. And uh it's good. But Yans, you wouldn't believe with uh with some of the shenanigans. The the stall etiquette is out of control here.

Oh, they're big guy. Don't cross your line. I could be I could see Matthews being sloppy with his ditch bag,

but he's he's so dialed in that he has like he's got like his toiletry bag looks like a hockey bag. Like that's how much stuff's in there. Like I got a roll I got a lacrosse ball in mine, I think. Like you don't even need it. But uh yeah, he's he's got a lot of stuff, but he's so dialed in. So I kind of just shift over a little bit, take half the stump.

You get dressed like this? Yeah, that's exactly right. Well, Yans Yans used to put the tape across. So, I did it in Florida this year.

I did the Yandal tape right across the thing. Like, don't come on my side. Don't cross.

Oh, wait. Y was he dirty? Every everyone I just didn't like when people cross the line. Like, I have my Yeah. Like, I have my side, you have your side. Like, I'm not taking any

Don't use our garbage can. Wait, Yans was particular about We just had Chaser on. He said Holly like he didn't have any superstitions. Yans's little pregame situ was kind of out of control, wasn't it?

Yeah. Lots. Yes, it was. It I don't even know like what was going on. You couldn't you couldn't do anything beside him without him putting tape. If you had your clear tape over a certain point, it was gone.

Oh, you just chuck it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Gone. If people tried to use our trash barrel. No, no, no. I took it out of the trash and put it back in their stall.

That's exactly right. It was a blast though. How's How's Toronto been treating you? You love it. Obviously from there. Uh obviously grew up a Leafs fan. You've been enjoying your time.

Yeah, it's been awesome. It took uh it took a little bit. I think uh last year especially. I think it's uh it's a whirlwind. like you get traded and you're you're in the city the next day playing for a different team where I was there for so long. So the summer really helped the staff they have here like it's a first class organization from top to bottom. The way they treat you um flights, meals, hotels, the staff, everything from from top to bottom. So, it's been it's been amazing and it's been nice being close to family with a with a young son and just having the help uh around has been uh has been huge.

It it what has kind of switched because it was it was ugly for a little bit. Uh Mark Sevard's let go. You know, there were some questions um on Biruby what he was saying after the games, but you guys have flipped things around. Is there anything in particular or is it just kind of the waves and flows of a season? Yeah, I think we got off to a tough start and it's kind of hard for me to to talk about because I was well I was watching but I wasn't a part of it. You know, I broke my foot in preeason, then I came back and got blown up by Zidor off and then um so I was out for the first couple uh or the first month and a half. So, we were giving up way too many oddman rushes. Um we weren't really collectively um coming up the ice together. we were spending too much time in our zone. Uh we made a couple tweaks here and there in our Dzone and and the neutral zone and I think that's really helped us and then guys are starting to

play together. You get a little bit of confidence that goes a long way and guys are starting to feel it on their stick a little bit and um I think from there on it's it's kind of flowed the last two weeks. We were playing good. We played good in Dallas, we got beat Nashville and then it really started to turn. So we got to keep it going. It's a tight race and every point's crucial, but uh we got to keep this thing going until the break.

Pretty uh Oh, go ahead, Woody. I was going to ask one more quick cuz you scored on this breakaway slap shot this year and then all the then all these clips started coming. I didn't realize you'd done it for a while now.

Mini Datsuk, dude. When did you Wouldn't Dag put the goalie in the corner? He's just like Sheldon Sur style on breakaways, but every time it's bar down. Like, did you do it in practice? Like, I'm going to pull this thing off at games.

I do two at the end of warm-up every warm-up and that's pretty much it. You got to you got to save him, I think. Especially now. But honestly, my dad my dad gives me like a a little pump up speech before every game and he's completely he's a sicko.

So, like any tough guy on the other team, he's like, "You got to go him tonight." I'm like, "What's going on here?" And then so if you're playing San Jose or Columbus, he's saying, "Hey, you gotta go Reeves or go Olivier Center ice."

Like, "Grab someone. Grab someone tonight. Let's go." And I'm like, "Via text?"

Those guys text. Yeah. And then he uh he always tells me to take a slapshot at the end of every text. So, okay.

Kind of stuck. And uh I had a couple in Junior, too. And And uh and yeah, I don't know. I think it's just sometimes to play try and try and beat him. I saw G do it a lot in Philly and a couple other guys, but

yeah, it just comes to comes to you, I guess. I was just going to follow up like uh being a Leafs guy, pretty cool year for you to be a full-time member of the team. Like JT hits his 500th Bowen. Uh there you go. Yeah. And and counting uh Joe Bowen uh celebration on the ice and then Matthew sets the all-time goal record for Leafs and then Sundine ends up visiting and being around. So like that like it must be a whirlwind the last you know whatever four or five months here.

Did you get any Budweiser cans? You get any assist on those? Nah. I thought I got one on the empty net last year in Buffalo. I was hoping to do a nice little video with one Budweiser.

They're like you weren't supposed to. Hey man on it. Yeah. Do your own beer. Hey, cut your own deal.

That's exactly right. I should I was hoping I was just hoping I had one little can in the mail.

Yeah. You should do a You should do like an unboxing of his of his toiletry kit.

I could, but I'd be there forever. But yeah, no, it is a cool year. I think like the way Matthews has done it in that short amount of time is is outrageous. And Johnny getting 500 like Johnny's one of the best teammates I've had. I didn't know much about him, but he is hilarious. Like Yans, he's exactly like Reamer. like really just

who like who uh JVR like hilarious like just like always like a dry joke um always the right thing to say at the right time and and he is dialed in but it's just he's so fun to be around and then obviously Joe Bowen I think uh listening to him as a kid on the radio and then he's calling your games and coming in the room it's it's just cool to be around like you're a kid and you watch all these guys come up and and uh it's just really cool.

Now, you mentioned at the beginning of the year you were out a little bit in the press box and how come you didn't wear a tank top at all?

Yeah. What's up? My body my my body wouldn't do it. It's not there. It's not there. I could go make up with the chest hair coming out, but I don't. That's about it.

Does anybody use the stuff that these guys wear? Yeah. It's awesome. It's awesome. Like I like I don't know like the no dress code for me. I I only have really suits. Like I don't really have style. So it's like I'm going to wear like a pair of pants and a jacket. And then these guys are coming in. I actually wanted to be Willie for Halloween, but I couldn't find his fit. So I I never went through with it.

You were going to try to walk in with the chrome heart jeans on and the I was trying to go the the jean jacket with the jean uh jeans and the tank top with like the chain. And I had a wig all ready to go and I was going to show up. I couldn't I couldn't follow I couldn't get the uh

the right uh fit I guess for it. So I went as Todd from Wedding Crashers. That's a good one.

Real good. The painting was a gift. Uh do you do you ask them questions about their outfits and like what [ __ ] costs when they come in or you just kind of you see them and you go wow and that's it.

Biz was famous for that. Hey, how much was that? Hey, how much was that? Oh, I like to know.

You used to ask. Yeah. Okay. If if I saw Okay, let's fast forward, right? If I'm playing on the Toronto Maple Leafs and I see Knander coming in with the Bedazzled Jenkos on, I'm saying, "What are they and what do they cost?" I'm I'm intrigued to know what they cost.

I never ask, but some of the some of the stuff it's got to be up there. Apparently, the jeans that that he's wearing are like 25 30k. Knander,

no way. the I heard that the chrome hards jeans are very very expensive. We found some that conversation that were 50 and 60. There were also some that were like 800, but I'm guessing he's near

25 uh,000, not 2500. Uh, G, can you could you get us a little bit of background check here?

I'm looked it up. There was Yeah, there was pairs for 25. I'm gonna ask Willie and I'll get back to you guys because I know that. Ask him what the jeans cost and ask him what the most expensive things he has in his closet are outside of maybe bags, but like more so things that he's putting on his body.

Yes, they they make chrome heart jeans for $84,000, $70,000, $35,000, $38,000. So they're uh they're pretty expensive jeans.

Are you are you dry cleaning those or you throwing the tumble [snorts] dry on them? Washing those by hand, buddy.

One and done. Wear them once and throw them. No, it's like RA says with the ball caps, you throw them in the in the dishwasher.

Yeah, you shower with them. Yeah, I think R's a shower with the hat on guy. That was his trick. He gave us that one. It works, too.

Throw them in your ditch bag. You're the man, Lots, Keep going, buddy. I guess you being out and now you're back. You're ripping it. Team's figuring things out. It kind of makes sense. Keith said you're the heart and soul guy. So, keep ripping it up, bud.

I appreciate it, guys. Thanks for having me on. And and lots last thing. When I said though, when when things maybe weren't going so well, should everybody go to the black suits? Did that ever cross your mind? Everybody just keep her simple here. Let's get through this little rut and then go back to the Chrome Harders.

No, it didn't cross my mind. But um I'm usually wearing a blue pair of pants with

Okay. All right. That's why we love you, Scott L. Everyone. Love you, Ly. What a guy. Did he say cranberry vodka on the laces? Like you had to

the guy. I love that guy. Um guys, we got a this Monday, it's prime Monday night hockey. The Canucks versus the Montreal Canadians. Teams in very different spots, going in very different directions. But January 12th at 7:30 Eastern. The Habs are 71 and2 in their last 10. They're flying. Our listeners in Canada can watch Monday night's game on Prime Video. If you're already a Prime member, you're all set. If not, sign up for a free trial at primevideo.com. And we got the queen of Amazon hockey and Monday Night Hockey.

Look at the jerseys in the back. What's up? Yeah, I got some stuff going too. I'm just saying I do. And I like this is nice to be on your turf. Normally you're on mine on Coast to Coast on Thursdays.

Yeah. The first time I was with you, you made fun of me for five hours. That's a 5 hour show, but I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to do that. I'm going to pump

by Biz, by the way. Yeah, of course. Uh, I will ask this. Have you heard of Chrome Heart jeans? Do they have those for women? And do you know if they're 30 to $40,000?

Well, I I heard that conversation and that's absolute insanity to me. I don't know. I think I wear like Joe Fresh jeans and I 100% put them in the dryer. I don't care if they shrink. I'm short anyways. But like listen, you got that money. You want to spend it on that? God bless. But

that's a bad ROI though. 35K on jeans. That's like that's a Toyota Camry used, but it's a Toyota Camry.

Um I don't know. Uh are those jerseys? I know you're a big soccer fan. You must be excited for the World Cup coming to Canada, North America. Really? And then what what happens if Canada plays Italy or are they they already are I believe, right? for

Italy Italy has to go through a playoff in March because unfortunately they didn't win their group. So whatever, congratulations Norway. Um so they have to go through a playoff. There's still a chance. And yeah, if they win that, then they will be Canada's first opponent. And I cannot I cannot answer this question. I simply cannot um because it's it's like tearing me apart. I also have like a calf jersey. I have my Italian gear, but I am putting up my Canadian gear in the meantime.

So, you're torn. I said you're torn. You're You're torn between both sides. No, no, no, no.

I am completely torn. I'm like in the Okay, let me put it this way. In the world of soccer, I'm torn. There is like no other sport where I would be torn with Canada and Italy. Make that perfectly clear. It is Canada all the way. But there's just a little bit more a lot more history on the soccer side with Italy. So, you know,

are you gonna be doing any uh obviously for those of you who don't know, Andy's a proud proud Italian and I was just wonder are you doing anything with the Olympics at being over in Italy or are you you staying put?

Uh I'm hosting the afternoon show which is prime time in uh Milan. So, I'll actually have a lot of women's hockey. I will have some men's hockey too in my time. So it'll be um every day I'm hustling. It's like 18 days. So I'm on the air 12 to 6, but really, you know, like you're in at 9 and you got to do hair and makeup. This takes a while to put together and then you got to have your like last minute production meeting. Then on the air you go and then it's wash, rinse, repeat, groundhog day the next day. But I love it. Started hosting the Olympics in 2014. So this is something I look forward to every two years.

That's the one that Whit was at. No, I was in I was I was in Vancouver. Oh, I thought Oh, then you I played in Sochi. I played in Sochi. I was there after when the village the Olympic village was complete ghost town. It was just the imports in one building and the Russians in another.

Andy, as the host and you'll be around the, you know, you'll be hearing everything. What's going on? What are you hearing about the rink? They apparently the test game is today.

Yeah, like there's seven games in three days. So, some sort of Italian cup that they're going to be playing.

Well, so I mean this one is a little to the wire, a little too kind of close to the finish line for me,

right? In in getting it done because I will say this, every single Olympics that I have worked on, it's always been doom and gloom.

It It's always been this is not going to be ready. This is going to be horrible. Like I can tell you right now, so in Sochi,

are you going to move the jumbotron or no? No, it stays there. No, no, it's gonna stay right there. Italians aren't tall, so it's gonna stay right there. Um, but yeah, like even when we were going to Sochi, we were basically told a war was going to break out while we were there. Now, sadly, a war kind of did break out uh during the Parolympics, but 2016, we were told we were going to get Zika. That didn't happen. 2018, we were told we were going to get nuked by North Korea when we were in Pongchang. That didn't happen. Like, there's always this is not going to work. That's not going to work. And then guess what? It always does. So, I mean, they're going to have these test events, uh, which means the ice is ready. The toilets may not flush properly for the fans. I don't know. I mean, that's something they still got to figure out.

But as far as like the ice, they got that ready. Yeah. I don't know what Oh, that's a locker room. Oh,

that's my basement after the flooding, not where Team USA is going to be celebrating with their gold medals.

Yeah. And I don't know why this has lagged so far behind, which is so unfortunate because Italians can put together some nice rooms here. I was expecting some nice decor, you know, some nice uh carpet, maybe a nice couch. Italians make great leather sofas. I don't know. I was expecting something nice, but I don't know. I don't know why it's lagged behind. That is a big question.

Um, I want to talk about the book. Um, you just released it. I mean, it's got to just what be about your your whole story and how you came to be in the broadcast world, how you got your start.

Yeah. So, I I share a lot of sports stories. Um, so there's like a lot of stories there that are just like for me in the industry, obviously, my time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, um, when I got the job there, traveling with them, and just like having to work hard to be accepted by Matt Sundine. He was the captain at the time and he did not like that an outsider was coming out cuz I worked for MLSSE so that's why I got to travel on the charter too. So I was like privy to certain injuries like you know how it is you guys go on the plane that's when you put your ice packs on and stuff. So I started to know about that and Matt wasn't very happy about somebody who would be in the know of things who he didn't quite know. So he was like he was a little aloof in the beginning. I wouldn't say he was like mean or nasty, but I would be like, "Hey, Matt." And he would never say hi, like just walk right past me. Um, even

in the book, I share this story where, and I don't know why we did this, but the media, we always sat at the back of the charter, but they would always let the team board first. So then it's like going through the gauntlet to get to your seat. I'm like, "Why?" But the players had to board first.

So now I I I get into the plane and I'm trying to make my way to the seat. Matt sees me. gets up and then like starts fiddling with his bag in the overhead compartment, but he's not doing anything. Like he's just blocking my way because he can. And then he sits down to make a point like, "I didn't do [ __ ] but I just made you wait." And I'm like, "Thanks, Matt." Nothing. Blanks me. And then about three months into the season when I guess he realized, "Okay, she's legit. Like, she can be trusted." I was coming down. We were in uh New York. the Leafs were taking on the Rangers and I'm in the lobby getting ready to go out to dinner. I'm like, "What's up, Matts?"

Not even expecting a high because he always blanked me and he's like, "What's up Andy?"

I said, "What the hell?" And the trust tree and there you go. And that was it. That was your welcome to the NHL.

That was my welcome to the NHL. When Matt finally said, "What's up, Andy?" Wow.

Thank you. That's awesome. That's awesome. So, that's what the book. Yeah. I got a lot I got a lot of those stories, trips to Afghanistan with the Stanley Cup and then yeah, like I share a lot of things that I dealt with that quite frankly women deal with more so than men. So there's a lot of those kind of stories, experiences that I included because when I wrote the book, I asked myself, what do a lot of young women ask me when I do speaking engagements? And I said, okay, they ask me about, you know, what what like right down to like what do I wear on TV? Because women are just so harshly judged by what they wear, right? That's how they determine people just determine a woman's credibility based on her clothes. So that causes a lot of stress for young women with even just what to wear. So I have a chapter on that. I have a chapter on social media. I have a chapter on body image. I have a chapter

on agism. Like all that kind of stuff. But at the same time, I just share a lot of pretty cool stories as well, like how I almost lost a Stanley Cup ring in Afghanistan, but I didn't, so it's all good. So, a major like a a big part of why you did it was to give women a heads up as to if you're going to enter the space or at least that's your story of how it it kind of went through. And I guess hopefully it's it's changed a little bit and it's better uh than it than it once was.

I hope so. I mean, yes, in a lot of ways it really has because like I remember again like I started covering the Leafs in 2006 and I would walk into that room and I would still be one maybe two women in that room at the time and definitely when I went on the road like when I went to smaller markets like Nashville or Arizona when I would walk into a room the room would just go silent because I just couldn't believe that like a woman was walking in and at the time too I had like long bleach blonde hair red coat like I didn't exactly blend into the walls so you knew when I walked into a room. Um, and I would get stopped all the time, by the way, in those rings.

Like security all the time would always ask to see my credentials. They would never ask to see like Joe Bowen or Jimmy Ralph or those. They would never ask them. They'd always stop me. I would always get, "Miss, are you lost? Ma'am, can I help you?" I'm like, "No, I'm good." So, like things like that have changed now where I'm at rinks. Like, I mean, obviously, everyone needs to have their credentials, but I find that there are way more women now. We don't get singled out as much. Uh, before women were like, you got to be r side or sideline. Now you got women doing color, playbyplay. Um, so yeah, for sure. Now I walk into a room and there are a lot of women in it, which is great on so many fronts. The one thing, and obviously I say this in Jess, but the one cool thing when I was like one of the only women, especially covering the Leafs, there was no lineup to the bathroom for me.

Now I got to wait. That's nice. That's nice. You you touched on uh Joe Joe and you know he's retiring this year. like what has he meant to you and the Leafs in general and how cool is it to kind of be around it this year with it being his last year?

I love Bones and when I read it was the summertime. I think it was in June um when I saw him put that out on Twitter it was going to be his last year and I actually got emotional and cried. I couldn't believe it cuz I don't know me covering the NHL without Joe Bowen because he's been so awesome. And again, like those times on the road, there were a lot of times in road rinks where I would sit between him and Jim Ralph and watch the game and I would just have my own personal playbyplay and color. So I I would sit up in the booth with them and uh he gave me some you know great piece of advice uh because again this I feel like a lot of women will probably feel this pressure more in the industry maybe more so than guys but like one time uh I was dating a guy thousand years ago and I had to work on Valentine's Day and like that just ticked him off because he just you know I don't know he just wanted to go on

Valentine's Day. The guy was mad about it. The guy the guy was mad about it. No wonder you're not with him anymore. Oh yeah, he's gone. But I remember I was I was on the road. I was kind of struggling with this. So I go to the gym to work out and kind of like think about things and I see Bonesy and I tell him my predicament and he turned to me and he said, "How often does Valentine's Day come around that you can like celebrate with your boyfriend?" Like every year. All right. How often do you get a chance to make an incredible impression on your boss to prove that you're serious about this industry? And I'm like once. He's like, "There's your answer." Like, "Get your ass to work. You'll celebrate another time." And I did. And I just like I remember both,

take those roses and shove them up your ass. I got work to do, [ __ ] Yeah. Yeah. Exactly.

Andy, so I have a We've been going for 240 here. I have to go cuz I have a haircut appointment and I haven't got been able to get to see my guy. These guys are going to continue with you. Congratulations on the book launch and and and everything you got going and thanks for being such an amazing host to us at the Coast to Coast and everything else you do.

Thanks, Biz. Hey, I like the curly cues, but whatever. Go get your Well, I just got to get the side cleaned up a little bit. I'm a little bit of a grease ball right now.

It's all good. We'll see you later. Biz going for a haircut. He also his Andy his last haircut. The guy wasn't doing it the way that he wanted to. So, he sitting in the chair grabbed the clippers and started cutting his own hair. thought about he was doing his own haircut.

Why? Why even pay a guy if you're just going to do it yourself? You can ask why a lot of different lot of different times about Biz. A lot of different times. Andy, we got RA coming on soon, but I need to know. [clears throat]

What teams from Canada will be in the playoffs when the regular season ends? Besides Edmonton, that's obvious. Even the stats, it's like they're 96% in. Well, I mean, the way they're playing, for sure, Edmonton, the way they're playing, for sure, Montreal, I can't see them dropping off uh whatsoever. Um I think even the way the Leafs are playing, although the injuries, you know, got me nervous, but I think I would put the Leafs in there. And then quite honestly, guys, I don't know. I mean, Calgary would kind of be a dark horse for me only because they were 500 in December. And then they've kind of been stinking it up obviously to start the new year. And you know, they they went from being like a couple points back of a wild card spot to now dropping. But like that's kind of it for me. For sure Montreal, for sure Edmonton, and then I'm looking at Toronto. I would say Ottawa. I don't think James Rhyr is their answer in the

meantime. Like they just signed him to that PTO till comes back. But you saw what happened once again. They had to pull their goalie last night and then they took him out and made a goalie change again because the poor new guy was just getting destroyed by Colorado. Like I like Ottawa's team. I just don't like their goalending. And then Winnipeg, I want to have faith, but do you have any anytime they step on the ice, do you have any kind of faith

that you said they're three and 20 in their last 23 games? But with Montreal, because that's the game Monday night, Montreal Vancouver, I mentioned very different directions. Like

I always say Montreal is one of the most fun teams to watch in the league. Do you agree with that? Like what do you like about their team for that game too?

Yeah, fast, dynamic, but they also have bodies that can hit. They got big guys, too. Uh Jack, I mean, you look at Coughfield Suzuki, they're the like they're just so entertaining to watch. They're going to get guys back. I think Ghoulie is is going to be back, you know, um imminent. So, I like that. I like their blue line, too. Mike Mat just goes about his business and just gets the job done. And their goalending is starting to look good. Maybe it was a little bit of a wakeup call too to Sam Montbo who I mean Yo is the third string four nations but now you don't get you know named to Olympics. It's like yeah because you kind of got to be good consistently. Um and I think the goalending's turned around a little bit but and they're also doing this too like they're also getting the job done special teams without a guy who's a special team um monster and Patrick Lime who's not expected to be back until end

of February. So and I and I love Marty St. Louis like I just I love talking to him. I love the way he sees the game. Um he's so informative every time we get to have like our our coaches chats with him before the game. I had a chance to another story I share in the book him and Joe Thornne two summers in a row we shot hockey videos that were sold in Kellogg's boxes.

So that means you've been that means you've been around a long time. I know. Maybe I shouldn't have admitted that because they're like act Well, they were like little USB keys at the time. Not like, you know, floppy discs or anything. I'm not that old, but

VHS in your Cheerios. Like, why is this box so heavy? Um, but like one year we did ball hockey and then the next year we were on the ice and even then Marty like I know uh it's it's Laurianov who has the nickname the professor, right? But like to me, Marty could have that nickname

because of the way he just like an and before we would like do every shoot, Joe Thornton would show up and he's like, "I don't care." He's like, "Tell me what I'm doing." And then he would add live and it would be hilarious. Marty's like, "No, I need to know step by step. Where's the lighting going to be? Where's the props going to?" Like he just, you know, so he has that mind that works that way and you see that in his coaching, but he's just he's a ton of fun. I love Montreal. How can you not? Like they're just Yeah, they're dynamic.

A fun team to watch. 7:30 Eastern Monday, Vancouver, Montreal. Andy, you do an awesome job. Looking forward to our next uh appearance at Coast to Coast. I think that's coming up in a little bit. January at some point. And uh we'll see you soon.

All right, guys. Thanks for having me. All right. See you later. Thanks, Andy. I think some of her best advice there to young women who or maybe dating a guy who's very, very into Valentine's Day and is going to be super upset. You can't go out. It's time to hit the portal, right? You can't you can't be dating a guy who is that upset if if Valentine's Day plans are ruined. Um

that's a bad All right. Uh before we get to Ari's world, brutal news for the Rangers. I don't know if anything's been announced about Shurkin, but that did not look good. Um that sucks. I don't I don't know, G. Maybe you can look into that and and we could chat with RA if you have any news, but

he's been uh he's been put on IR. Okay. Short-term. I I thought I saw. But it's yeah, like you look at the Rangers year, they can't score. The only reason they're even in it a little bit is Shurken, right? And with him going, even though Quick's been really good, he just hasn't got the run support. But

to have him, hopefully it's only a weak or whatever. But that that is not a not a good injury you want to see if you're a New York Rangers fan.

And Adam Fox, I think his trip to the IR is like you're missing like eight to 10 games or or three weeks. I don't know exactly. He got put on LTI, which means he must miss 10 games in 24 days. So that's that's wild. That that could kick them right out of the playoffs there.

That's two enormous hits. Um, but we'll see what RA has to chat about. So bring that guy in right now. Last episode on YouTube, RA's World. Hello everybody and welcome to R's World here on the Spitting Chickas podcast. Boys, what an episode so far. All kinds of special guests for our last YouTuber appearance here. It's been great so far. Keep it rolling here for uh just to follow up uh with Kelly Chase. Awesome to have him on. Ice Guardians is available on Prime if you haven't seen it yet. It's a a great documentary about uh fighters and what they mean to teams.

awesome interviews and uh Chase has the probably the best quote at the end of the uh documentary so check that out. Good stuff as well. Um Celabbrini I bought stock on him earlier with I got 75 to1 to win the heart trophy. I put that in November.

What a what are the odds now? 8 to1. I'm not even sure I just I locked it at 75. I haven't looked back since. So, um yeah, I I can't believe what this kid is doing at 19 years old. I mean, he's going to be 19 for the whole season. Like I always I said a million times already, Bruins early game, Shocks late game. no matter what. It's been a treat to watch. And the Senators thing, I don't know. Do you remember B uh when Monty Burns was shot on the Simpsons and like the guys like what happened? He's like won't dignify with response that remind me of the Senators like why why even validate that like when you people are talking that [ __ ] you just like can then I think that just feeds it puts gas in the fire.

Celbrini plus 500 to win the heart right now. Well, and yours is at 75 to one. Wow. What's your hedge right now?

Um what's that? You can't. It's tough to hedge really. Plus, I mean, I think I got a C note on it to

Oh, no. No, but I like a buyout. Yeah. What? No, no. I think I'm just saying like I bet you the numbers already pretty ridiculous, but All right. I'll be right back. You keep going.

All right, buddy. No problem. Uh, first off, I want to give a shout out to our guy, uh, John Cooper. Coach's 10,000th NHL game the other night, and they ended up winning it as well. Uh, team gave him a very nice ceremony the next home game. He also has 155 playoff games, four Stanley Cup final appearances, two cups as well. And I liked how the broadcast gave a nod to his uh video coach Brian Glock as well. He's been in his like a number one with Coupe forever. So it's pretty cool to see that. How like how you must know Coupe a little bit. Yandel playing been around the league so long.

Yeah, just just a complete gentleman. a guy that even [clears throat] when he came in, he was always one of the like the way that you walk into the arena in Tampa, like you have to walk by the other team's uh their mail room where they work out, then their locker room. And he would always like I I felt like I always ran into him and he was just always one of those guys that would just say hello, ask you how you doing, ask you about your family, like didn't whatever, we're playing you in three hours. Didn't care about that. like he was just like just a real gentleman, you know, and like a just a truly a great guy to have for the game and uh you know to coach a thousand games and all with Tampa, right? It's it's incredible to to do that and the success that he's had with the superstars that he's had to be able to keep them all in check as long as he has. It's amazing what he's done.

How about his bet with Frankie Belli? That was so cool that he's just like in an NHL postseason press conference just talking about this like Bellis and this bet that he had with Frankie. That was awesome.

Yeah. Yeah, it was good [ __ ] Um you guys already talked about the Jets, but I I did want to follow up on that a little bit. Um they're in jeopardy wit of becoming the fifth team in history, NHL history, to go from having the best record in the league to missing the playoffs the next year. Uh the Rangers did it twice, 93, and then 2025. Bruins did it in 2015 and believe it or not, the same as back in uh 2008. I I feel like you know they lost Nikolai. I think that's been a huge loss for him. He's a eight time 20 goal scorer. Know they brought in Nyquist and Taves but combined they only got three goals between the two of them. But I want to ask I'll go to you first Whit like when you're on a team that's sort of free falling like that how ugly does the locker room get? A guy stipe at each other? Is there a unity thing? Like how how does that like play in the locker room when you know a team's losing

eight, nine, 10 in a row like this? Well the real bad teams I was on in Edmonton it was the expectations going into the season were super low. Um, now that doesn't really, you know, affect the locker room because you're still trying to win. You still believe that you can win, but it's probably even more difficult this year considering what Winnipeg had last year and that first round win. And I don't know. I I think that having good leadership throughout the toughest times is super important. Um, I don't know anything or anyone in that locker room. But I do know what we mentioned Monday with Luke Shen being scratched by to in Toronto for what would have been his 1100th game. Like that that's not going to help the room.

It might help the room galvanize against the coach even more if they already were, but that's not like something that's getting the team vibes even higher or any better than where they're at. So the locker room can be it's just really hard to come into the room after a loss the next day at practice and you kind of need guys to to be smiling like when you're losing, right? Yeah. Everyone's pissed off. But if you keep losing and every morning it's quiet. Um you're like, "Oh, here we go again. We got practice. We got another game tomorrow night. Like are we going to lose again?" You actually want to come into a room the next day and have guys, all right, it's over. On to the next one. I don't know what's going on in there, but it's it's exhausting and it's stressful. It's like that's what I think of the stresses of losing, being in Canada and losing and having a team last year that you thought could have won the

Stanley Cup and going into this year had the same idea. But the ERS loss, that's a good point by you that we didn't bring up. That's just a lot of goals you're missing, a lot of points at least. [clears throat]

Keith, to you now, same situation. Like the guys call each other out. Do they Is it a f like [ __ ] you matches? Is it miserable going to work every day? I'm just kind of curious about this when you're in such a

Yeah. Um yeah, those are usually kind of when you you'll see a fight in practice or something where guys and it's not even that guys are mad at each other because at the end of the day everyone's trying their hardest giving 100% but it's just the nature of the beast where shit's going.

Yeah. You're going to like shit's going to happen in practice but what Wit said like the stress level that's what's really and then and then it's like okay who's going to get traded? Who's going to be out? like you you when it's getting closer to the trade deadline, you start seeing guys with the bigger suitcases like, hey, if I get traded, I have to have stuff with me. So, you know, and then that adds stress at home, right? If you're married with kids, you're like, oh god, we're going to have to sell our house. So, I think the biggest thing, and Whit made a good point, is the stress levels just get amplified even more. But I think they have I mean, they got Jonathan Taves, they got Lowry, they got guys in there that know what they're doing. They're veterans in the league. Um, so I can't Yeah. Yeah, but the top dogs, the top dogs who maybe are underperforming,

they feel stressed. And then the fourth line, um, fifth and sixd, that's when you start seeing lineup moves with them out of the lineup. So then they're stressed about their job and their place in the league. So it's, yeah, it's just like everyone, they're going through different levels of it and guys, you know, like Kyle Connor or Mark Shiffley, like they're not going anywhere. These are established NHL stars, but they're on a losing team. They're panicking as well as the guys who might be losing their jobs, possibly being sent down.

So, it's Yeah, it's a disaster. Disaster. Yeah. I mean, they only three double digit goal scorers. Shyley with 20, Connor with 21, Vatty with 17. And then you got to go all the way down. Three guys are tied with seven goals each and two of those guys are defenseman. So, scoring's been a a big issue and it's just a stunning turnaround. 11 losses in a row. Fewest points in the NHL with 35. They're 11 back of the second M card. 25 points back of third place in the Central. So yeah, just kind of a stunning turn of events up in Winnipeg, but uh moving along to World Juniors. I know you guys mentioned it earlier.

Congrats to the Swedes once again on the third championship. Uh and hats off to the checks, man. These guys, they're just born to be hockey players. They don't stop all game. They turn that game into a nailbiter. I know they didn't weren't able to tie it up, but this is the fourth time in a row that they've got a medal. Uh the pace of play, the skill, the whole tournament, it's just unreal. I actually had the juniors on one TV and then, you know, an NHL game on the other. And it was like noticeably the difference. It was almost like watching like a senior league with the NHL compared to the intensity with with the World Juniors. But I also like too how at the end when they were giving the awards how they they recognized the officiating crew. Like I know everyone dumps on the refs and the lines. But I thought that was a pretty nice gesture.

But uh the big talk though was the attendance and uh my buddy at the World Hockey Report, he was definitely trolling with this stuff. There it is right here. Uh you know it's a tough look. I know tickets were pricey and you had to buy this whole package, but basically it ended up becoming a buyers market because if you just kind of waited, you can go on game time and getting, you know, people were paying $25 to go sit in the glass versus some of the to watch some of these games. But I think something that people really haven't mentioned is Canadians stayed home. Canadians that that semi-final game that would have been normally sold out 18,000 people in that place. you know, I've talked to some Canadian friends and, you know, reading online and basically they just sort of I don't know if it's an official boycott, but they just don't want to come down to the country and spend their money given, you

know, what's transpired over the last few months, but I think that was probably the biggest factor that a lot of people haven't mentioned. You agree on that, Whit?

Well, I I said I got no problem if it's in Canada every year. And I'm not saying winning the gold medal means more to Canadians than every player from every country, but the attendance and the viewership, it does mean more up there. Um, the US games were packed, but ideally in Canada, all a lot of the other games are packed as well. And I think that would be the case. Um, I know I got to play in Halifax. That was very special. I know it'll be packed next year when it's back in Canada. I got no problem. That's the only place, by the way. You can call it the United States all you want. If this is in Sweden, it's not it's not crowded. If Sweden's not playing, if it's in Finland, I don't know, but I don't think um Canada's the one place that those games will be packed. So, put it in Canada. Um and it makes it even more special the times the US has won in Canada.

Where where is it in Canada next year? Red Deer and Edmonton, I think. Yeah. Yeah.

So, that'll be that'll be it'll be packed. It'll be awesome. and getting to play Canada is a memory that I every single guy that plays against Canada in that tournament will never forget and we'll know that the attendance will be incredible. So, I don't know. [snorts] I mean, there's probably nowhere else in m in I don't even know if it was in Boston. I don't think the US games would be sold out. It's just not as big of a deal here, right? Definitely agree on that. What about

I think Boston would be way better though just because of all the smaller college rinks that you have. So like all these empty rinks wouldn't look half as empty if you're playing at Harvard, if you're playing at a Ganis Arena as opposed to

Oh, no. They'd be packed. They'd be packed and the fans would be on top of the ice and it would be an awesome environment. And I've also been told like the East Coast is a lot more like the Europeans, they don't want to fly to Minnesota. So like that's why Florida, uh, Boston and New York are being considered for the next one. Just

Florida would have nobody there. I disagree. Like I really do. Like I think if it was in Tampa, we went down to the Frozen 4 in Tampa. 90% of the people that were there was just guys trips. They're like, "Oh, we can go watch some hockey in Tampa and go hang on the beach." And

that's a one weekend though. This tournament the US games. Yeah. But every other game there would be nobody in Florida. It'd be it'd be it'd be exactly what you just saw.

And they'd have to be at NHL arena so it would look even worse. Yeah, I think I think you made a great point with the with around Boston cuz

like I went to that Harvard game. It's the perfect size. Whatever it is, 3500 for something like that. You could put Finland vers Sweden then the big boys put at whatever the USA Canada is at at the Fleet Center. So I I think Boston would be good. I know Whit you said in what was it 99 it was not good. It was out

96 or 95. Mro is crazy. The fact they host the sports center, this New England Sports Center where I'm playing like my mic tournaments is nuts.

Yeah. And they had the and and you know they have the the room up top where you could see down into all the ranks and be warm. And that game they had like blacked out the windows because they were like $3 tickets like you buy a ticket to go in. You couldn't stand out and watch the World Juniors. So

yeah, I don't think the boys are like Minnesota in the winter time too. It's not like conducive to the all the guys all the guys together go to the Midwest and

a lot of stuff going on in Minnesota right now too. So probably not the Okay. Uh but I I want to talk about too uh Zayn Perk defenseman for Calgary there. You know he was very candid with the media. I guess he's a you know pretty outgoing kid. Uh and he had the quote I think it's more uh watching NHL guys be robots and not having any personality. And then when I'm in Calgary, I definitely have a lot of guys that are telling me to give real simple answers, but here I could kind of do what I want. And you know, there was there was a brush back and he had to walk it back a couple days later. I he said, I quote, "I think some things got spun out of proportion. I sincerely apologize to the Flames organization, my teammates at the end of the day. That's not acceptable or can't happen." And at first I was like, man, you know, this is we're trying to get more personality in the league. And then this kid says something and

everyone shouts him down. But I thought about a bit. I think what like probably ruffled feathers in the locker room Keith was that we said when I'm a Calgary I definitely have a lot of guys that are telling me to give real simple answers like to me that's like that's not something you would probably say in other words I'm sure every rookie has that from every guy but I think that's probably what if he did piss his teammates off was more pissed off about that than the robot comment. Yeah, for sure. And I mean, realistically, like, and when an 18-year-old is talking, it's, you know, he he hasn't lived like there's some guys on his team at 35 years old that have been through it all.

Like, they're trying to help him out. It's like, hey, you don't if you say less is more sometimes, right? So, they were probably trying to help him out, but I get what he's saying. I I like the kid. I interviewed him actually right after he got drafted. Uh, that was at the in Vegas at the at the sphere there. So, great personality on him. I I I think he's good for the game. I you know, it's it's one of those things. You're in Canada, you got to you got to watch what you say. Sometimes you don't want to give other teams bulletin board material. Uh but yeah, at the end of the day, he he said something an 18-year-old kid would say that's in the moment. He's playing for his country. So, I didn't put too much stock into it.

If he hadn't said guys telling me if he hadn't mentioned guys on that team, then there's no problem at all. Yeah,

but I think right right away when he saw the response or even before that, he I imagine he'd say like, "Ah, that's kind of

wish I could take that one back." Just bringing up anyone on the flames, right? Like you're not even with the team right now, right? You've been there this year, but like don't even bring up guys on your team as a rookie

who've been telling you things like he said, trying to help you. But yeah, it was it was still overblown.

Yeah. Yeah. And and even I mean Mackenzie Wuigi, he even said, you know, same thing. I don't like when player players are robots either. The truth about it is the guys in the league are robots telling them. So that's what I I they didn't come out and say, "Oh, he, you know, sort of talked out of school like about guys tell him not to say this." But yeah, at first I was like, "Ah, man, let the kids talk." But I I realized after like, yeah, it was more so like what what happens in the locker room stays in the locker room. And I think that's what maybe he violated. But if you were in the league, Keith, when something like this was said by a rookie, would you be pissed off? Like how would you, you know, approach it with a young guy if he, you know, said something similar? He He'd Yeah, you'd definitely get harassed a little. I mean, not like you you'd you'd ra him a little bit. You'd cement

your shoes. You just make him do media every day. Yeah. Cement in the shoes. I' You know, you'd make him do media every single day because usually if you know, usually when they ask you a bunch of days in a row, you'll say, "Hey, give it to somebody else." But you would just make him do it every day as a joke and learn his lesson. But I'm sure he already learned his lesson. Like you said, he took it all back and whatever. It's water under the bridge, I would imagine.

Yeah. At the end of the day, not that big of a deal. So, uh, moving right along. This this a little, uh, something that grinded my gears a couple weeks back. A couple buddies of mine, Captain Cons and Dante Abasto, I complaining about the way strangers dress on airplanes. You know, this this had become a talk about, you know, like dress nice on an airplane. It's like, dude, what are you talking about? It's not 1950 anymore. Like, I'm not saying like wear flip flops like this clown right here, but I'm like, this who gives a [ __ ] what a stranger is wearing. Like, I'm I'm all for comfort. It's not like there's nothing worse than having a belt and jeans on for a 5 hour flight. And I thought Consant were being kind of snobs about it. Like who like I don't know like do you honestly care like yeah no one wants to see feet? Nobody wants to see like pajamas but like like does what people wear actually annoy you Keith

when you're on a plane? Like does does has anyone actually pissed you off by not having a [ __ ] suit on?

No. No. I'm I'm all for comfort too especially if you're a long flight. But you can also wear a nice sweat uh like sweatuit that doesn't look like you're homeless. But the showing off of the feet like just imagine if you don't have TSA pre-check and you have to take your shoes off and put them in and then walk through like

barefoot. If I have to do that, I usually wear two pairs of socks and then I throw one out like it's like that that's crazy wearing sandals. Um but

yeah, maybe no sandals unless you have socks on which is tough look. Um, although I think the kids do that. And then maybe no like tank tops for guys, right? Like maybe just wear like a t-shirt.

I think smell is the biggest thing. As long as you don't smell. And I think that's the thing with the feet. Like you're wearing flip-flops, maybe it's like, "Oh, their feet could stink. You're wearing raggedy clothes. Maybe those could stink." I'm with RA. The airlines don't respect us. Why the [ __ ] should we respect them? I'm I'm all in on wearing comfort clothes. it. But you got to shower before. I shower before every flight or at least at the very least the night before. I don't want to be sitting next to a guy who hasn't showered in 48 72 hours. That's just that's disgusting.

You should ideally be showering every day. Yeah. Um that's not deodorant. Deodorant's big toothpaste.

Toothpaste. Um yeah, I I didn't know it was making people that upset already, though. I wasn't aware.

Yeah. I mean, horse bath does the same trick. You know, I think you need to shower before you get in a plane. Just don't be a stinky [ __ ] Yeah. Because Khan said uh basically like in clothes cognition. He's he's cited all this like psycho babble [ __ ] It's been studied what we wear absolutely impacts our behavior. People tend to be more irritable when they're in a relaxed state of mind. I was like, "Bro, what the f you talking about?" I love Captain Cons, but I thought he was uh going off the deep one with this one. And then he mentioned, what was it? Oh, the whole mincy stuff. They went to to dinner the other night. And I guess we don't take our hats off inside restaurants. Got it.

Like now everybody wears hats all the time. When I'm eating, I take the hat off just just to get out of the way. But like is that a big deal? Like wearing a hat to a restaurant? I mean,

wait. So you do what he said? What? He takes it off just while he's eating. Just while I'm eating, not like out of like a like like a politeness.

So you'll sit at dinner, hat on, food comes, hat off, finish food, hat back on.

Yeah, basically. Yeah. Why do you take the hat off to eat? Uh I don't know. I sometimes I'll eat. I might even spin it. go Ken Griffy Jr. style and just put it backwards. But just the idea like I don't know like oh wear a hat in a inside a restaurant. I like dude it's again it's not the 50s anymore. I love cons but some of these

well I know in our kitchen and I remember growing up if I had a hat and I sat down for family meal like if I didn't take that hat off that hat was being taken off for me. And now when my boys have hats on, hey take your hat off while we eat.

Yeah. But [snorts] out of a restaurant I wear a hat and I'm eating. So, I I guess I'm more looking at it at home, at a dinner at home.

Yeah. [snorts] No hats allowed in the house. My My father-in-law, if you walk into his house with a hat,

doesn't matter if you're 50 years old, he'll tell you to take it off, which I absolutely respect and and love that about him. But in the restaurants, I think nowadays it's so like, you know, as long as you're not wearing a dirty, like G said, a dirty grubby hat, I guess, if you're looking good. And, you know, cuz at the end of the day, some of us are balding a little bit. you want to hide it or whatever the case is. You haven't got a haircut in a little bit like busy and it's just kind of one of those things. You can you can dress it up nice enough, but yeah, don't wear a a dirty hat that looks like you've been in the sand lot all day.

Yeah, my grandfather like he would take my he would throw it out the window if I my grandfather he's not not cons. But like G just said though, I think the airlines just kind of reaping what they what they sowed. You know, they've been treating customers like [ __ ] for all this time and like so people are just like, "All right, I'm going to dress like a slug cuz you you're jamming us into this tube 35,000 ft in the air." But

I mean, they're you're choosing to fly. They're getting us to our location. Yeah. They're like they're helping you go somewhere you want to.

No one's forcing you on that plane, jamming you in the tube. I But I mean, you've been flying for a long time. You can acknowledge that like air travel has definitely taken a dip customer service wise just you know they it used to be like a like sort of almost a luxury to fly. Now it's just like I don't know you feel like you're in a cattle car or something these days. No.

Yeah. And I I got to be honest like I I'm flying I fly first class. I know the haters are going to not like this but I it's not that bad for me. I know I'm not sitting where a lot of people are sitting. I got to be honest though right now. I couldn't sleep at night if I didn't make it clear. I I feel pretty comfortable flying.

The the the only thing I have against it and when it does happen is if you sit on the tarmac for 4 hours and then don't leave. Like just let us go back to the gate. That's the only gripe I I have with airlines.

But at the end of the day, they get me to where I want to be and it's usually pretty good.

You just mentioned dirty hats. I I know we talked about it earlier. My pin tweet. If you're looking to clean hats, I have the best thing. You take it in the shower. I I put the recipe on a blog. So, if you have old dirty hats that you have a sentimental value to, go to my pin.

I've done it. All right. Works to perfection. Works like a charm. All right. This week's classic recommendation, uh, Brian De Palmer, 1993, Kalo's Way, starring Alpuccino. Uh, for my money, I think it's the most underrated gangster flick out there. Alp. He plays a Puerto Rican gangster. Uh, just gets out of jail. He's trying to do the right thing, but the streets are kind of learning back to that sort of lifestyle. Um, I'm assuming you both you guys have seen it with

Yes. Great flick. Sean Penn as well, I believe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's sort of like a Durowitz type lawyer like David Kleinfeld that he plays such a good scumbag. But yeah, if you haven't seen it, Kito's way legit one of the best gangster films ever. Brian De Palmer, awesome director. Give that a look see. And to wrap up, got a couple pics. Wait, RA, before you do your pics here, I got a little breaking news.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Biz is cutting his own hair again. Oh, that would be unbelievable. But the first Olympic test event at Santa Jalia Arena has been delayed because there is a giant hole in the ice. So that is where the Olympics will be played in less than a month. There is a giant hole in the ice. They can't play test game numero uno.

This is not good. All right. At least they're testing. At least they're testing it.

But this is why you test, right? We test. This is why you make sure everything's going to be working. It usually doesn't work right away. restaurants. They have their first soft opening week with with uh family, friends. Test it out. Get the kinks out. We still have over a month, I believe, or maybe right [snorts] around a month. That ice will be okay. That ice will be okay. And those games are going to be amazing.

Yes. Shout out to Suzuki, too. I didn't even know that was still a company. You see that on the boards?

Oh, yeah. I think they make motorcycles in Europe. They don't make cars. Do they make cars? No. Remember the Suzuk?

I know. I know. Motorcycles. Yeah, they do. I haven't heard that name in ages. And there's no contingency plans either. I know people think, "Oh, there's a, you know, secondary site." No,

it's going to work cuz it's going to work. Yeah, obviously. They might be playing with no fans in the building, but the games will be played and the games will be on and it'll be great and we will be watching.

Can't wait. Less than a month to go. Uh, all right. Couple picks for you. I think I went one and one last week. I'm not 100% sure, but I like the Capitals tonight. They're only minus 125. they uh at Chicago the Blackhawks Caps lost their last game and so basically take a minus 125 whatever you put on that put half that bet on the puck line per usual minus one and a half you get back plus 190 uh and this weekend I love Carolina with the points uh I know they're not a great team and everybody's all over the Rams but just as far as a home dog playoff game getting 10 points at home I don't care who's playing I'm just going to jump all over that so the I got it at 10 I would buy the half point up to 10 and a half go with the Panthers And I put a small sprinkle on the money line at plus 440 as well. Who do you like in this game, Whit?

I hadn't really thought about that game cuz I considered that the only based on the lines not close game. Like I was kind of thinking the Rams should be able to handle them.

Yeah, that is a lot of points, but every other game it's around like two and a half, three, I think. So very exciting weekend of football. There's also the game tonight, Indiana, Oregon. Um, I'll ride that with you though, RA. I think a couple weeks back you gave Carolina at home against somebody and they ended up winning that game.

Yeah, I I think it was Green Green Bay. Green Bay. Yeah. So, that that this has already brought you a little luck them at home getting points. We'll ride with that again. I'm with you.

All right. Let's go. Let's do it. Uh I want to uh offer spit and chickles condolences to family and friends of Hockey Hall of Fame and Glenn Hall. Uh he passed away.

I'm glad you brought this up. 94 years old. He passed away. 502 consecutive starts as a goalie. Uh, add in the playoffs was 552. No backup, never come out in five masks. 52 straight games, no masks. Just absolutely incredible. Just insane stuff to to think about the guy that many games consecutively, no mass, just an absolute legend of the game. Uh, Mr. Goalie as he was known. He won a Stanley Cup, the called the trophy, a Con Smite, uh, and three visitors in his 18 year career. Uh, 10 years with Chicago, four with Detroit, and four with St. Louis.

So, we want to uh recognize one of the great they say records are meant to be broken. I will put every single thing I own that that'll never ever get broken.

If they ever say, "Hey, what's a record that's unbreakable?" There it is. There it is right there. I don't even think a goalie will ever get 100 again.

Yeah. No. Like, yeah. As Biz would say, Banana Lands. And finally, uh, I want to, uh, thank all all of our awesome fans out there. Uh, it's been a hell of a ride for the last 10 years, and I know we're making move over to Netflix. So, I just want to tell everybody out there who's stuck with us, whether you're new, old, whatever. Uh, we always say it, we're nothing without our audience. That's that's why we're able to do this for a living. We love doing it. And I just want to thank every single person uh, who's, like I said, if they've been day one or day one for them was last week.

Uh, we love you guys, yells, and uh, we're very happy and very proud to do what we do, and it's all because you folks. So, thank you and uh hopefully we'll see you on Netflix very soon.
