Yeah, I was in Atlanta last night. Now I got up this morning, caught a bird. I'm up in Toronto. I'll be in studio tonight. Uh I believe it's Winnipeg Montreal game in studio. Let's go. I see the chat is just rocking and rolling. Oldies in the chat. Chaz stats guy TNT in the chat, our good friend.

Hello to the chat. Uh, hope everyone's had a a great week so far. Um, but yeah, I'm grinding. Where where are you at again?

We're in Columbus. And I think that's why Oldie's in there. He saw we were going to Columbus. He he called me right away, giving me some inside scoops, where to grab dinner, where to grab some cocktails before we chase the goals tonight.

Didn't Oldie do a lineup read and got him another win, too, in doing so? Like a big win for Columbus? Was is he like a part of the Blue Jackets pretty much? I think that's why Rick Nash got the promotion. I saw he did just because of what brought him in.

Fun. He brought him in and they got the win. What oldie's done. So, he obviously has an eye for talent. So, named director of player personnel and player development. I saw there as they reshuffled a little bit in Columbus. But yeah, buddy, I I was in I was in uh Atlanta last night all night long. Good night. It was great night in there talking with Hank and

he's heading he's heading to the Olympics. He's going to be doing some Swedish TV, I believe, over there. couple different channels he was saying. So pretty busy obviously as you could imagine, but always good seeing him and hanging out with him. But buddy, the big news, the big news the other day.

Oh, you were the you were the talk of the internet Sunday night. I couldn't believe it, bud. I couldn't believe it. Like, could you imagine that? Like I go from one outdoor game, then the next day I get home, I'm laying on the couch, there's another one, a stadium series.

I mean, that was a great game. That was a [ __ ] electric game, Mr. I I I take some blame because you remember at Penn State we started researching, well maybe you're not just the king of the Winter Classic. Maybe you're the king of all outdoor games, NHL, college, high school, and we put it out to Twitter to try to find out if there was any other outdoor goals that quick. I think Wisconsin had one maybe in the 30 40 second range.

Yeah, we we claimed you're the king of the outdoor. I was the I am the king of the outdoor. I still am. The first ever OG game, the Winter Classic, the first goal, 21 seconds. Some say 20 if you really look at it. I don't know if we had the technology then to really stop the clock correctly, but yeah, Brandon Hegel, fastest goal, comes in, just picks it up, just slings it out of traffic, bar down. 11 seconds to start that game in Tampa the other day. Um, I was like blown away. My phone exploded, Merles. My phone just absolutely exploded. So, he's the prince of uh the outdoors with the fastest goal outdoors. I'm still the king of the Winter Classic, people. Um stay stay calm. Your king is still here.

Um but the funny thing is about Hegel, and I said this on TNT last night, like he is born in Saskatoon, raised in Alberta, and played junior hockey for the Red Dear Rebels, where I played junior hockey as well. So both him and I with the two fastest goals kind of from like the same area played on the same junior team in Red Deer. Pretty awesome. He's a hell of a player too. Western guy. Awesome player. So

if there's anyone I'm happy that he has come in and surpassed me, man. You know who called me right when it happened like a few seconds later?

Gretz Wayne Gretzky called me to like I picked up I was like kind of laughing. How big the King of the Winter Classic has got.

He was like, "Oh no, I think he beat Army's record." He called me right away to double check. I got a text from Sid as well just saying like it almost lasted 20 years. Like pretty good record.

No way. Sid got the assist on that. I told him I'm still the king of the Winter Classic to him and Gretz and they both said yes. Yes. Hang on to the crown for the Winter Classic. So I got some heavy hitters in my corner. So that that's I mean what can you say about that? And on Chicklets, it was brought up for a brief second by the boys and Biz brought it up and was trying to defend me that I'm still the king of the Winter Classic and and Whit just like tip like Whit like [ __ ] that. It's over. He's done. And then they just moved on. Like

what a Speaking of Wit, that guy's out to get us lately. Remember what he did to us at breakfast out in Penn State?

That's brutal, buddy. Tell tell people what happened. Oh jeez. So, we're in Penn State. We've already been to this place, Brothers. Great spot, don't get me wrong. Great spot from say 2:00 p.m. on. You know, you're getting fried wings and and stuff like that and some cold beer, cheap beer. So, great spot for that huge TVs to watch the game. But we wake up the morning of the game, the outdoor game, and and gee, he's got to set up this brunch spot, the Nitney Lion restaurant in

old school. We got the best table. Some alumni hooked it up for us. We get a frantic call from Whit. No, no, no. I want to go back to that brother's place again. I loved it there. We're like, well, all right. Maybe there's a breakfast menu we saw. So, we switch our plans. We switch our Uber. We go over there. It's a mad house in there. We get the back table booth. So, we squeeze in there. The wit shows up. He takes one look at the menu. 10 seconds. He goes, "I'm out of here. I'm going to another place alone." He takes off. He ends up meeting up for breakfast with Biz and Yans at some high-end diner. Just completely rinsed us. We end up eating fried pickles and cheese and queso.

Cheese, queso, chips and queso. Pathetic. Well, we wanted like pancakes and eggs. We had it all dialed. Had us a table. And it was like the place we were going to, what was that place called? Like the Nitney Lion in or something like that. It was like this old nice looking like hotel or something. And it was like a block away from the football stadium from Beaver Stadium and instead we're we're battling traffic to get in there. It was just I don't know why we listened to him. I wanted breakfast too but we were like okay let's go where he wants to go to be nice cuz we're too nice.

[ __ ] that. You're the king of the Winter Classic. That should have been your whole weekend. You should have made all the decisions.

Yes. We had it ready to go dialed table everything. So that was that was a negative. So Whit mushed me twice now claiming I'm not the king anymore. But dude, so like I I get here Toronto, I work tonight, then I got pens in Buffalo tomorrow night. That's it. I'm done. Off for three weeks, buddy. So I'm going to go watch my son play a little weekend hockey. Um and I got to say on Sunday, I picked my dog up Saturday night when I get back from that game that we got that little puppy, you know?

Yeah. This dog I got him dialed now. Like he's awesome. Like I had to go and I had to I had to I had to put him in there. I had a game on Sunday for the Penguins game. So I had to put him in there. The wife came back from Florida. He's good in the crate now. I got him going out like poop and pee in the morning. Like he's dialed on his little He has like a little schedule where I get him to go. He doesn't like going outside. It's too cold. But I got him dialed though. I got him dialed. Dad dad dog right now. Dog dad. Sorry. So I'm I'm I'm feeling good about this new dog, buddy.

Yeah. Come and come and take care of my kid. He ended up [ __ ] on He [ __ ] on my brand new couch while I was gone.

No. Yeah. So, is it What kind of fabric is it? That's uh I don't know. It's We had It's You can You can take them apart, machine wash them. IKEA, you know, we're Swedish. We got to have that. But

does it is like the fabric? Yeah. Or is it like leather? No. No. Fabric. Fabric. Wipe it off, throw it in the in the washing machine. It's brand new. Back to new. But um the wife took off his talk took the diaper off, you know. It a little like red butt, you know. She let him air out his junk a little bit. Yeah.

She like runs over to do something else. She comes back and I for like what he said. He's like, "Ted, Ted." Like, "Mama, mama." Comes over.

Still had some more in the chamber. A little [ __ ] nugget sitting on the on the couch. So, yeah. Ted did that.

So, if I ever go over to your house, no sleeping on the couch, I guess. Yeah. You sleep the other way, but he keeps saying it. Ted Ted poop. Ted poop there.

Oh, is that what he keeps saying? Oh, you must have made a scene about it. Okay.

Well, you got to you got to come and train him. Get him on I'll get him dialed. And you know what? It's cold out. Dog doesn't like going outside, but we we got cold even more, buddy. Did you see the groundhog day?

He kind of snuck up on us again. Hey, and we got to do this chat. Let us know in the chat what you guys I think we should attend one of these events. Look at this. I want to be that guy though, Merles. And you can be the guy.

We must have been close to there, right? At right there cuz what day was Groundhog Day? Was that Monday or what?

Monday. [ __ ] That would have been sick to be at at Knob uh what is it called?

Gobblers Knob. Is that what it's called? Maybe. I think it is called Gobbler's Knob. I can see in the background

where they do the all the festivities and everything. People let us know. Should we go to that next year and just get like into one with this with Phil? Saw a shadow. Six more weeks of winter. Not not ideal with the cold that we got and all the snow we got. I'm not loving it. So stay uh stay indoors people.

Arm Satani Merles. There it is from a little nickname for our weekend. Yeah. I think I I woke up I woke up Monday and some and my daughter's like, "Ah, Groundhog Day." And I was like, "Oh, like yeah, I'm hung over from a chicklet trip. Big surprise there."

Yeah, it is Groundhog Day for you. Groundhog's Day. Here I am again. But yeah, we're going to get into Penn State. Uh just update G. He's out in Wisconsin filming a new Chicklets U with Fish. So, he won't be joining us today from the cheap seats. We also we have Posasha in the back. We're going to bring him in later for the Devils Talk. All sorts of stories going on with the Devils, but I know the people want to hear what we got into at State College. We did a ton of stuff. We're the college hockey founders of this podcast. Got this whole thing set up for us. We had a hell of a time. We brought you to college, arm dog. What was your favorite thing?

It was awesome, man. It was awesome. I favorite thing. I don't know. Like maybe that's a unique place just because it's like its own town. There we are with the Nitney Lion. A little history Merles if you're following along with our uh game notes chicklets concierge of of going to college going to Penn State. We started at that historic monument that they have on campus but like the whole city se is the campus. It's just like this town in the middle of Pennsylvania that is a college town. That's all it is. It's pretty wild.

It's it's a pretty wild place. I will say that the people were great though, like at our all the stuff we did, it was awesome. My favorite thing, the outdoor game was cool, I would say. Like seeing the crowd in the student section. Um, but going to the Pigula Ice Arena like was awesome. Like to take in like an actual game like we go to Frozen 4 and we're at like the NHL arenas in different cities so far, but I don't I haven't really gone and taken in a game like that in in a home rink. So to be in that rink with the band playing the student section like people like the support to see how full it was kind of just like that real college energy for like a real game that was that was pretty good. McKenna got kicked out which sucked but at the same time it was a hell it was a hell of a time man. It was it was awesome. There he is right there. Like great picture of him too scoring his goal at the outdoor game.

Oh that's the picture that's over his office for the rest of his life until he gets a Stanley Cup and then that one would replace it. It's probably the only way to replace that picture. But yeah, it was cool. I I was happy to see Pakula Arena, too. I've heard so much about it. Um, yeah, great game. Michigan State won both games. They're awesome. They're big. They're strong. You They just They're a tough matchup for Penn State. If if the way I heard and and talk to players and and people, if they could avoid Michigan State somehow in the tournament, Penn State would have a chance to win the title. But if they have to play them, Michigan State's going to beat them nine out of 10 times.

So, it's just a tough matchup the way the teams are built. Yeah. But yeah, 75,000 people at the outdoor game. It was electric. It It was It was good. You guys saw us Big 10 Network.

Yeah. What' you think of doing TV? I know you've done TNT when they had the Chicklets thing, but like

Yeah. I don't know about the TV angle there. Huge. I mean, I had What did I have on? I had a long john shirt, a t-shirt, a hoodie, and then a McKenna t-shirt on top of a huge jacket. And just the angle I'm shot at there. G made G look so small.

G looks like um Squeak from Baseball. I said they're like, "What's up, Squeak?"

Little [ __ ] Yeah, you little [ __ ] Shut up, Squeak. Great movie, but like that's what he looks like. And I don't know why you look so huge there, M.

Yeah, I I wish I was sitting in your seat. or or maybe I had my football shoulder pads on since I end up chatting it up with the whole football staff. So, I know you probably heard about on chicklets. I can get into it more. We're in the suite at the game Friday night and this this tall guy comes in. I just start talking with him and he's asking me all about hockey and what's this and that. I'm I'm just going along with the guy. I get 10 minutes into the conversation, he leaves, somebody's like, "You know who that was?" I'm like, "Nope, no idea. That's our head football coach." I'm like, "Oh, that was pretty sick." I just talking to him, teaching some puck. The guy telling me that was their assistant coach who's these two guys were just beauties. And we got talking about Sweden. I lived over there and and the football is not popular. And the one coach said, "No, I I know a guy.

I played college with a Swedish guy. He does the TV over there." So, he showed me a picture of him. And the words just got going. Next thing you know, I said, "I'll get you guys some Swedes. You guys want to put put me on the payroll? I'll find you some Vikings." And they were all for it. like, "Yeah, bring us back a huge tight end or a a lineman, anything." So, that was the running joke the rest of the night.

The best part of that was Merles is those guys were great guys and like we hung out with them quite a bit. Easy to talk to, just great guys. They loved hockey, too. They're new into Penn State coaching and yeah,

um just incredible passion to be there, too. Like, they are so excited about the opportunity. Like, good people uh persons. They have that aspect to them. They're very good. Like,

it was like they were part of our group. But the best part was is after that you just like hanging out with you later on after it all happened. You're like, "Yep." This in Merl's voice like, "Yep, yep. Napkin deal. Napkin deal. New coach for Penn State. New coach for Penn State. Napkin deal, boys." He kept I can't believe I'm coaching Penn State football next year, boys. Napkin deal. I was dying. You kept saying it.

It was the best. It was the best. Great guys. We had a great time, though. Unbelievable. Abdul Carter was in our box. How about that guy? Holy [ __ ]

Uh yeah, you could tell he was a G. Like he was the man. But I thought he'd be bigger for some reason. The way he plays football, I thought he But I guess he's just he's a like an attacking linebacker.

Like you thought he'd be wider. He's got a good height on him. Like he's not like a he's taller than me, I think, or or for sure.

Yeah, I guess I don't know. I just Yeah, I think wider and thicker. I would have thought, but I guess he is he's he's a linebacker built for speed. He's not one of these huge linemen or or kind of a linebacker that's stopping the run. He's more of he's going to attack the QB.

Yeah. From Philly. Lasal College High School legend Abdul Carter from Jazz. Yeah. Jazz Philly guy. But like

if I'm going to coach football, I better I guess I better learn more about the players and their size.

Well, you're just in college, buddy. Who cares? Yeah, you got to just know Vikings. That's all you got to know. Napkin deal, dude. Napkin Deal. New coach for the for the Penn State Lions football team. How about his neck? How how jacked was

Yeah. Carter Abdul Carter's neck. It was like he had muscles bulging out of his neck.

Yeah. I I I noticed that somebody showed me that and then like is that normal maybe in football? That's why they can get away with these huge hits.

Yeah. I remember this is crazy when I first got to RPI. There's no strength training. Like we had the football workout program which was old for football even. And I remember we did do like a neck weightlifting. We put like this crown on our head

ball cap thing and you go like this with weights and we're like does that all day?

Yeah, that guy just lives with that thing on. He had like bulging like you know how you have biceps pop out? He had that like on his neck.

It was just so muscular. The guy was just like a machine. Just a beast. He went out there and then did the whole we are we are and then thank you. You're welcome in front of everyone on the mic which was actually pretty sick to see that with everyone chanting and cheering. He's just like a a legend back at his old alma mater. Unbelievable. How about messy on the trip? We don't see messy enough. What a legend.

This guy crushed the trip. How about when we went into the bookstore? You're in there and you're like you're like the nicest guy ever. You'll stay and talk. You're like Merles. I'm out of here. Like I I can't be in here anymore. The guy won't stop buying stuff. I said, "All right, I'll lock him down here. Let's go." Like memes, get up to the register. He has two full like garbage bag size of merch and I get them out of there. You're gone. You've been gone 5 minutes. Here's the video coming up.

If you're watching on the spit and chicklet YouTube, you see the size of these bags.

I don't know if you listen to this. I love this line there. shot. I'm going to look good for the next couple days.

Yeah, he looked great for the next few days. But as we're walking out of the store, there's these metal racks that are clearance racks. And doesn't he find something else? Oh, I got to have this one. He rushes back into the store. So, that's why I took off and came and joined you. But yeah, that took us about an hour in the Penn State bookstore.

Oh, he was going to town. We were wheeling. Yeah, he wanted to get something. He got like a sick old school like Penn State jacket that he wore the entire time he was there. He loved it. Uh, and then that thing that he bought, there's like racks outside. Here he is with that jacket on. Look at him. Just everyone love this guy. Everywhere he goes, he's just got something about him. He's like Austin P Austin Powers, man. He's got that mojo. Old memesy.

Yeah. I don't know if anyone Do we have confirmation he's made it back to London? I don't see him getting out of there for a while.

Yeah. Where is he, man? I went to his room, too, and he just had like stuff all over the place from those bags and like tags ripped off like just a gong show. He's like, "Cool, I got to clean up my room now, bud."

I wonder. Oh, yeah. Another moment I forgot to put on the outline was um about the club hockey. So, Penn State club hockey played Oklahoma State up there. I I believe Penn State beat them both games and uh you know, but this Oklahoma State team came in with with a lot of uh you know, on a private plane with a lot of merch. They gave us some jerseys, but I'm sad to say I mine didn't end up home. No, I think I have yours at my house.

Okay. I um because I took Biz to the airport back to Pittsburgh after the game and he had like a random bag like oh I thought this was Merles's bag. He had

Yeah. Was it a white like a white Penn State bag? It's like a grocery bag like a carrying bag and there's like

Yeah. sweatshirt in there and he I'm like okay I'll keep it. I'll give it to Merles. I don't even know.

Oh, so the Oklahoma State shirt lives on. Yeah, cuz I thought I left it in the security car.

I got it. Oh, we got stuff coming up in the chat here, buddy. If you want to get to the some NHL news, obviously a lot of talk about

Paneran. Yeah, everything's coming in right now. I don't know that the 3:00 roster freeze for the Olympics is the cutoff. We're 40 minutes away and Paneran is the big guy that they're saying. Yeah, there it is. Unbelievable. Got question mark on him. Where is he going? Who's he going to be? Oh, he looks good in Tampa.

Very Cooerov looking, isn't he? Oh, yes. Capitals, of course. Why wouldn't he want to play with Ovie?

Oh, yes. Fetchnikovs there. Another Russian. He wants to go play with him. Oh, LA. That looks pretty good, doesn't it?

Hollywood. Yes. What? Russians don't like Hollywood, I guess, to go live in Hollywood and make all the big money. But Paneran's the big ticket. So, I know we've uh got Posasha Freriedman standing by ready to break that trade if it it does go down. I'll be interested to see. Where do you think he's going to end up, Merles? if you had to pull something out of the air.

I still think Minnesota. I think I think Billy G is gonna surprise everybody. That That's my pick. Still

see someone in the chat. He's going to Sharks. That's kind of been something I've been thinking of. It's for whatever reason it jumps into my brain. Like a good veteran guy that can like move the needle for a group that's in a division that's not good that they can sniff a playoff spot, man. Like it they they could get in there. You know what I mean? I don't know. We'll see. I don't know if they want to break the mold of like the rebuild they have going on or what they're looking to do, but

yeah, they could definitely give him a huge contract for the next whatever many years he wants will go where these other teams probably wouldn't do that. They'll keep him at like a fair price. San Jose would probably overpay him, right?

Yes, I think they could, right? Like they could give him a little extra. I don't know. It's just a matter if he wants to go there and play with Celibbrini and Smith and oh well, not a big deal. Like sounds pretty good to me. But bread man will be on the move is what the word we're hearing. So Pasha stay tuned for that. Stay tuned, brother.

One place he's not going is the New Jersey Devils. Pasha, because they lost again last night. Shut out at home to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Come in. What's the latest news coming out of uh Newark? Uh who gives a [ __ ] Season's over. There's no news gives a [ __ ] It's a complete joke. I can't I'm so disgusted that like I can't even watch hockey anymore. Like our group chat was blowing up about the outdoor game. Didn't tune in. Didn't watch highlights. I'm just so disgusted. I can't even watch hockey. It's just [ __ ] what a joke.

Wow. And so I'm hearing news. You want a little update on what's happening right now? I seen Jack is not going to play tomorrow and I saw a little tidbit about it that the trainers don't feel comfortable playing him. So

here we are. I'm in here. Season's over. Like keep him healthy for the Olympics, I guess. Like, you know,

who cares? Ready to full tank. Try to get McKenna. Yeah. Here we go. This Yeah. I mean, just like that no-show last night against Columbus. Biggest game of the year. They generated, I think, four high danger chances the whole game. Um, yeah, I've been saying, how long have I been saying it for? The team is broken.

And the GM you won. Sheldon Keefe is a complete joke. He lost the room a long time ago. He should have been fired a long time ago. Tom Fitzgerald is a complete joke. He's he's fumble [ __ ] so many different things. And but it starts at the top. Ownership is a joke. Ownership is not letting Fitz fire Keith. So it's just everything is handcuffed. Douggee blocking trades. Fitz handcuffed from firing Ke. It's just it's it things are really bad. It's worse than I could have imagined. They're a [ __ ] joke. They need a major major shakeup. I'm in the dumps right now and I got to wait eight months to get excited about hockey again in October. And I'll tell you, if Shelton keeps behind the bench in October, I'm not tuning in. So, this is they they need a complete clean house overhaul this summer.

Like, whoa, hold on. Like, complete rebuild, like selling off all their guys. Oh. Oh, crap. Is that real? Oh, no.

The blockbuster. We not Paneran. The Devils. Oh, I've just traded for Nick Bugstad, boys. That's the that's gonna turn the season around.

What a [ __ ] joke. Nick Bad like, okay, yeah, he's a big body. Yeah, he would have helped him in the playoff. Yeah, they're not making playoffs. Awesome job, Fitzy. Way too little.

Hasn't said yet what they gave up for him, but oh my god, Nick Bug's dad. Yeah, that'll save the season. What a [ __ ]

Well, you guys do need a little more size. There's no question. And Bad like I'd like to see what they gave up for. What are Buad stats this year?

Not good. Not good. But he's had some good years. Yeah, sure. I mean, listen, if they were playoffbound, I would love Buchad big body and all that.

Center. Yeah, but like what's the point of acquiring him now? They should be selling. Like I guess it depends on price. I don't know how much longer he has on his deal, too. But yeah, I mean that's not the trade that we've been waiting for. And yeah, it's it's long overdue. Good to see Fitzy's phones working at least.

Seven point seven points in 35 games for the St. Louis Blues who are also in uh I believe full tank mode now. They've been just

Mr. Mr. Oh, we came in second place. Fitzgerald probably swinging missed on Kyu and Thomas and he's like, "Ah, [ __ ] We've we've been talking anyways. I'll just take Buchad. What a joke."

I wonder what they gave up to get Bu's dad. Like what was tickling? If it's Fitzy, it's Fitzy. Probably Nemits Mercer. Six first round picks. That guy's lost the plot. [ __ ] six.

Somebody in the chat saying Buch stand for Mercer. That would be No way. Horrific.

Right in there. If I had to guess, just completely It's probably like a third round pick or something like that.

There's Yeah, there's no way. It's St. Louis is looking for picks. St. Louis is is going they're they're done.

St. Louis is done. So are the Devils. This guy Another guy saying they gave up Mercer in a fourth. That would be the worst trade of all time for

That's such a lie. Like that's such a lie. There's no chance. Just trying to get you going more.

No. I'd burn my devil [ __ ] if they traded Mercer. Well, I don't care if they trade Mercer. I'm fine with trading Mercer as long as it's for like in a proper trade. Like to me, Mercer is not uh not expendable, you know.

All right. Well, that's our devil's talk. Perfect timing with Pasha Freriedman. I'm hoping we hear from you in the next 30 to 40 minutes with the big ones.

Sounds like Schmaltzy broke that trade, too. Jordan Schmaltz. Nice. The chin cider.

The chin cider. That's the best. I don't know. We're getting a lot of Mercer in the chat. There's a lot.

No. Uh the fraud impostor, uh Elliot Freriedman, who stole my last name, is saying it's a a pick and a mid Brown prospect. All right.

All right. So, that that makes more sense. Or sorry, mid-round pick and a prospect.

Mid round pick and a prospect from Freriedman with the young Elliot, you're late to the game, buddy. Posasha Freedman.

Posasha Freriedman all over this in the chinsider. Schmaltzy coming out of nowhere. Pegnatada. Dave Pegnota also was the was chiming in here quickly, but Posasha Freriedman once again

and it's a perfect segue to our next topic. Arm dog, one of your old teams. They've gone on a run. They went out west, won three games. I feel like Biz was doing the same thing with the way Posasha was talking about the Devils. It's done. Rebuild. He was trying to give wit some of his players, but they won three in a row. They're kind of back. Do you believe they are right like this? Are they buyers or sellers?

This that's the big question now. Like before this break, what what were they going to be? And and things were looking horrible. But now, you know, they beat Calgary. Whoa. They beat Vancouver. Whoa, look out. And then they beat the Oilers, which you know, maybe are they building steam? Are you noticing a difference? I saw Biz's video last night. He seems to believe he's trying to encourage the boys to stay on the ice over the break extra. Like make sure you keep it together. Like he's coaching them.

He's gotten even worse. Like when they're bad, he's just trying so hard to will them back into it.

He is. I think I don't think that that they're gonna be enough. Like it just seems like Buffalo's caught this thing. Montreal is just like one of these teams that just I think they're going to find a way. Like the sends are sneaky, too. Like they just beat the Penguins. Like they're rolling pretty good. They look good, though. They look good. I I just don't see the Leafs at being able to keep up down this little sprint after the Olympics. I don't I don't know in my head. I just I just don't see it with having to jump over teams and crawl back in there. Even Boston. Like

I I was just going to say I like like if I had to pick a team, I would take Boston over them right now. Just just the way they've been playing, the way they play so hard. Like this stretch when they come back, these games are going to get tighter and tighter. And it fits that kind of way the Bruins have been playing.

Yeah. Their D just big D. They're physical. They like to bully around as well. It's just and then you know Sturm seem to have have them there like every game they seem to just in there every game they surprise you like every game. So yeah, I don't know if the Leafs have it. I don't know if the Leafs are going to I don't know if they're going to get it in there and that's a tough decision for True Living to like look at it and go, "Okay, what are we? What can we do here? What way can we go?" So, wow. Wowee. Yeah. The East is tight. The West is is crazy, too. Your Ducks,

well, my Ducks, I took them in our draft. They they're they're they're starting to claw back in even missing some of their top guys. You're in love with the the winger out there, the the rookie. He's a winger, right?

Yeah. Senica, he's under he's playing the off-wing. I I feel like I see him always scoring from that side.

Yeah. Who he can go wherever he wants. This guy, you know who he is? You know who he is? Becket Senica is He's gonna be Rantin.

Right-handed R. He is unbelievable. He's huge. He attacks. He's not afraid to beat guys one-on-one. He's got like six skills. He's He's big and and gets to tough areas as well with his size and his hands and his reach. Um like he's physical. He has like everything you'd want. I think he just turned 20 years old just recently, too. Like he's going to be an absolute menace for a lot of years there. What a pick by them. This kid, I love watching him play. I I I like everything about him. And the only guy I could do last night and watching, I'm like, who does this guy going to be like? And I just picture Rant when Rantin's like hard charging and making things happen when he's on a rip. That's what Senica's going to be. Like Senakica, like in my ideas when I see it, like can he be a 100point guy and he's got enough talent around him there that like he could make it happen.

Yeah. Like that's a per like him and Leo Carlson teamed up for a long time. Like he does. He takes in when you see Ranton some days he wants to just be a man against boys. He just all right this is me and I'm cutting in and you're not going to do anything about it.

It's Yeah. And and he's going to be a nightmare. I love watching him. Like I just I'm so impressed by his game. Do you know I talked to Joel Quenville at the start of the year we were out there too and I think they had like Stro was hurt. They had a few injuries early in the season and so they had to play Senica like a bunch and I don't know if they were like really wanted to slot him where they slotted him in the top six and then he just started scoring and producing. He's just being an absolute weapon. And so like now he's like a regular. He's just lighting it up.

Yeah. I think he's second in rookie scoring right now behind but he's first in goals I think. So he's I mean he's he's a specimen. He's going to be a hell of a player.

Way to go Anaheim. Anah I hope Jazz is still in the chat because just as Anaheim talking reminded me of a stat this guy sent me on Instagram. I don't know when it was a week ago or week two weeks ago, but he sent me a stat that there's one player in the NHL that has not registered a hit yet this year.

And you had to have played five games. Any guesses? Anaheim. Let me guess. First name is my hometown.

No way. Troy Terry. Troy Terry had zero hits. He got blown up last night by Melson of Seattle. Yeah, that's what that's what kind of reminded me of it. I mean, he got blown up. 770 players with five games or more. Only one guy with zero hits. And he sent me like this analytics chart that like I don't know. I couldn't even really read it. Like it was a Pasha Pasha type thing.

Yeah. I don't know what those are. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, "Ah, whatever, man." But that would be pretty crazy if he doesn't even have one hit all year. He plays a ton.

But yeah, but he was he was hurt. He just got back. So he's he's just getting his wheels going. See if you can register.

Perry still has zero hits. I might have to I might take him as the slump buster to get a hit this week.

Dude, how crazy is this though too with Anaheim? Last night we're doing the game they like were winless or lost nine straight I think it was and now they've won nine straight

or something like that. Like sorry I I got CT. I can't remember all the stats. The numbers just get jumbled up in the old coconut bud. But I mean that's how the teams have kind of gone this year. Hey, like you could go on a rip and then everyone's going but everyone's doing it. Everyone's just hanging in there.

Ride the runs. Ride the runs when they're hot. Hey, this team I'm going to see tonight, Columbus, they're 10 and one their last 11. I think that's nine and one with Bones as the coach.

Yeah, Rick Bonis has come in there and they've got a spark going. They're just trying to battle and grind and go. They're I mean,

does that look bad for their old coach? It's like the same thing as like the No, I guess not the same as the Sabres, but it's, you know, the GM leaves, they go on an incredible rip. The coach leaves.

It's nuts how these small changes I think they're small changes can make 20 players play differently. It's crazy.

Yeah. Bonus has come in, Evson left, and they've been they've been ripping. Yeah. And like, you know, like that that division is pretty stacked up as well, you know, like trying to battle into there and try to fight into there. You got Boston, you got Montreal, you got all these teams in those like wildcard races also like just so tight,

so tight. Yeah, tonight's a big game for them. Backto back. They're home. It's Chicago. You know, the Olympic break staring down the Olympic break. You got to stay focused here. But we're looking for goals. We're here to chase goals. And uh we'll be more on that. We'll get more into the NHL when we're taking some picks, but we got to shoot it over to Riding the Bus. So, we got to talk some NCA and some CHL for all the for all the the bus travelers out there, the ones on the on the WHL 18-hour bus rides that Cruz Armstrong will be taking soon. But,

hell yeah. Um, you want to start off in college or the CHL today? Let's go college, bud. Get get your college. Yeah, we don't have G here, our college hockey insider, but we did make the top 10. Uh Michigan still holding on. They don't lose. So I I mean the I my eyes on Michigan State twice this weekend. I really wanted to move them to number one, but they actually I think play each other this weekend. So we'll see who comes out of that. North Dakota. Providence I moved up there. I like them. I I I like Lehman as the coach.

They're they're they're my hockey East team right now. They're they're playing the best out there. Western Michigan. Penn State we kind of left alone there even though they lost two games because they were to Michigan State who's awesome. And uh we like we like Penn State. I'm on the coaching staff, so I don't know if that's a conflict of interest.

We got Boston College down there, too. BC BC's back in it. We put BC in there. Let me tell you about BC. They made the Bean Pop final. Um BC vers. And I got a great little stat from my BC insider. Uh I think it's the juniors that are there. They're six and two versus BEu in their careers, but both losses are beanpot losses. So, this is their last ch another chance for them to to get the bean pot win over BEu. So, that game will be next Monday. But you see some ECAC flavor in there. Quinnipiac, Cornell. So, of course, I put in RBI some votes. Our our guys duth they've been a little cold. They drop out of the top 10. I think they've lost six in a row. Wisconsin's lost six or seven in a row. So, we gota G. We send G out there to turn them around.

Tough time to go out there if you're G if they're in a little funk like this. Hey, like he's going to be in there like, "Hey guys, can we do chin-ups in the gym?"

Yeah. No. Hey guys, can we have a hot tub? Yeah. That's the last thing you want. But maybe they'll just use it as a rally like, "All right, he's going to turn us around.

Chicklets bump." And then Union. Always put Union in there. My guy Bags the equipment guy. I gota always shout them out. But there you go.

Last thing on college hockey, I came ac across an amazing amazing stat. I don't even know how I ended up on this, but division three. I sent the graphic to Pasha. I don't know if we got it in in time, but um I know I have it. Posasha have it or no? It's Hobart College. You ever hear of that school arm dog?

No. Where is that? Hobart. Hobart, I think, is uh kind of south of Syracuse or south of Rochester. There it is. Oh, it didn't come up. Great. There it is. Hobart. This weekend, Hobart 20 and0 on the season will have the opportunity to win their 63rd straight home game, which would tie the all-time NCA record held by Cornell.

The Statesmen. They're called the Statesman. That's a great name. The Statesmen.

Statesmen. They host number five. Friday 7 p.m. Oh, where are these schools? These are D1.

Geneva. Geneva, New York. I think that's out near Rochester. in between Rochester and Buffalo or Rochester. I think it's like

Hobart's a lacrosse school. Lacrosse school. Yeah, they're always known for the color. I believe they're orange. I want to say they're orange.

Wow. Yeah, I thought that was a great D3 stat. That's a hell of a winning streak though.

Yeah, that's really riding the bus. That is You want to really ride the bus? Let's get to the CHL, Mr. Let's get to the CHL. And you'll be happy to hear that really riding the bus. Top two teams are the Everett Silver Tips and the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western. Everett's perfect 3 and 0 week on fire. They just kick along. Here they are. Hoham, back up on top. PA keeps rolling. One of two teams above an 800 uh winning percentage. Brford is at three. They're 90 and2 um on 11ame heater right now. and and we see Monton in there as well, the highest ranked Quebec League team as we get into some of these Quebec teams right there, four and five. But Monton season best at four. So they're climbing it up on a sevengame win streak. So watch out for them. And I think that's that coach with the mustache, McDougall. I think he's in Monton. So he always has his guys going.

And shout out to Kitchener and the O down there. You see them? Ottawa Barry Kitchener. They crack in there. um punch in and they're they're on a 12game point streak. So some of these teams running pretty hot right now. Everett seems to be around all the time all always as these teams all chase their way to the Memorial Cup in Colona. And I got to you know I I don't know if Swift current is our game notes team of the CHL honor is that honorable mention? I don't know how they're doing. I don't know what's going on.

Yeah, we got to start them up. We start firing them up maybe if Cruz makes a team or ends up playing there. We'll see. We'll see, buddy.

You know, that can get me. I'm an Iotter. I was drafted by the Eerie Otterers. That's all you really?

Yeah, that's all the uh CHL I can bring to the conversation. But you like basically would never have left your region if you would have went to Erie. Like every Connley had it set up that way. So back in those days, he would have been the number one overall pick in the OHL, but then number one was Thunder Bay. Not Thunder Bay, is it? No, North Bay was number one. Sudbury was number two. I can't remember the other ones. So, he just told them all he was going to go to the US national program. Don't draft me because Erie was number five because his mom wanted them stay closer or stay in the US schools.

Yeah. And then that's what I was I was only getting drafted but with him to go with him. So, that's why

Where else did you have for college? Did you have any other college like recruits hit you up?

Yeah, I went Yeah, I went everywhere. I had like 30. Did you have Were you close to doing it or you were just like I'm a good boy. I'm going to stay at home. No, I was down to Michigan and Harvard. I think I've told the story of Harvard where they flew me there and for my visit and I didn't even get to go out at night. I stayed in the dorm with the kid and he did his homework. I got to the airport the next day and the and the young kids listening won't even know what I'm talking about, but I went to the pay phone and used the calling card my mom gave me. I called her right up. I said, "Hey, you can scratch uh Harvard off the list. I won't fit in here."

There you go. Yeah. And then when I went on my visit to Michigan, it was just too big. It was like going to Penn State and when I'm 16 years old and I come from a small town at the time I'm living in Baldensville. It's even a smaller town. It was just too big. It was too much for me. It ju it just did not outweigh RBI for me.

Wow. Yeah. Well, Erie would have been sweet if you went to Erie was close. I've talked about that where the night before the draft I had Sher Bassin and and my head coach on the phone and I was doing call waiting. Another thing these young kids wouldn't know.

Double phones Merl. quantity players of note that have played there uh obviously McDavid de Brinkat Dylan Stro

uh head coach this was all before so and a real funny story is because this kid Paul Maru from Boston he went to Sudbury and the rumor was they gave him like $100,000 in a new Jeep Cherokee to go there. So I remember me and my dad having the meeting with Cherry Bassin and we told him like Matt's going to college got every team in the like 120,000 scholarships everywhere. um give us 100,000 and we'll we'll be in Erie next week and he's like ah we don't really run our team like that and we're like well we're not

an honorable guy. Wow. Yeah, that's unreal. Story asked him for 100 grand and a bag of cash.

Is that that big defenseman? Yeah, Paul Mar. Yeah, he played NHL forever. He's from Boston.

Okay. Wow. Yeah. Don't know if that's true or not, but that was the rumor back then. So, I said I'm going to go ask for the same thing.

Wow. That's good. Your dad just took it to the took it to the table. Went to the desk, started banging on the desk and all and

they came. Wow. Good. You want this? There's the deal. There there was teams in uh there's teams in our own league offering 40,000 for me and Connley. Quinty Hawks offered us 40,000 to go up there for the end of the season.

That's crazy. It was wild. It was a wild time back then. Wild. Now you can do it all right right in front of everybody.

Yeah. It's crazy now. It sucks now, actually. Stupid. Yeah. It's too much to figure out. Too much to figure out, bud. So, those are those are the uh top 10s. College, NCAA, and CHL. We just keep rolling here, Merles. Some old war stories.

Yes, sir. What do we got? Show Mindsies. Show Mindsies. Show Mineszies. I should have went to the OHL. I would have never ended up in the Mindsies. Great graphic, Pasha. Great job back there, Pasha. I know you're down in the dumps on your Devils, but great job. Arm

Sasha Freriedman, stay next to the phone, though. Stay next to the phone, buddy. We need you breaking deals. Paneran, any time now. It's 2:44 Eastern. The freeze is at 3, so carry the one. 16 minutes before the Paneran deal goes down. All right.

Hey, does Hey, does this roster freeze the thing where it can go in the fax machine and pop out afterwards? Like trade deadline? Yeah, it's in the queue like it's held up. They're approving it. Maybe that's happening. I don't know.

I don't know. Posasha Freriedman, stay tuned. Stay tuned. Oh, I'm just Let me check my

No, we're still getting updates. It's the It's Thomas Bordalow and a conditional fourthround pick was for Nick Buchad. Okay,

so there's the Mercer safe. Mercer is safe, folks. All right, show I I'm going back to Penn State. Never been to college. um king of the Winter Classic and at the time king of all outdoor games was there at Beaver Stadium. We went with our whole crew. It was awesome from the Pink Whitney party at champs. There we are.

It was a circus there. And I got to I I want to give a shout out to all the fans that showed up for that. Everyone was awesome. There's fathers and sons there, husbands and wives there.

Um just buddies on on dudes trips just handing out pink Whitneys. Everyone was awesome. It it was great hanging out with everyone. Um I loved it. I love the experience, all the little bars and everything. We were treated so good from the hockey game at Pagoula as I mentioned to, you know, the stadium game at Beaver Stadium, outdoor game to the quality of hockey and and the games themselves. We had some rough stuff the night before and then the next one it went to overtime. Pretty exciting stuff. And it it was the the the student section, the bands playing like the whole deal. Shout out to Penn State.

Thank you. That was so show that was a show weekend for us. It was cold. It was winter. There was snow everywhere. How about after the game and we were indoors there, Merles? At the regular game at Pagoula, we went ate at that nice place like

somehow got into this place with like Yanz's buddies and like had a nice I had like finally had like a real nice sit down meal hanging out with something I think.

I don't know what where we were, but I came out. It was like obviously it was like 11:30 at this time to go home or whatever. And I come out, it's like I was in a Christmas uh market, you know, like we were in that little alleyway, but it was like really nicely lit. There's snow everywhere. And I turn around and it's like I'm in a college apocalypse. There's just kids everywhere. [ __ ] canned running up and down the road yelling at me and Biz like I thought we were a zombie apocalypse. It was just insanity. There was kids everywhere just freezing cold. They're wearing no jackets. They're wearing no jackets and then they stand in line like like that.

just craziness. So, I gotta say the experience was really fun and I'm glad I got to do it with all you guys. It was great crew. Great to get together with everybody. I loved it. So, thank you Penn State. That was show, man. I'm calling you guys up to the show.

Yeah, we crushed it there. Uh on that same note, doggies. Doggies. Remember we went in there during the day with memes. The owner gave us some swag. She gave us a couple free pops.

Check that place out. Awesome place. Cool spot. That's where all the players go and hang out. So, that was really cool. Yeah, live music, the whole deal there. Yeah, it was it was a great experience, man. We even got the ice cream there, the crearyy.

That was great. From cow to one mile from cow to cone, as they're saying, and they make it right there. It was awesome. Right on campus.

Yeah, I had a I had a great time. Thank you. That was awesome, buddy. Yeah. Arm dog, back to college. Next time you go back to college, it's got to be at RPI for our Big Red Freakout. We don't have the size of those bars, but we won't make you wait in line, Arm Dog.

Yes, I agree. I guarantee I got a spot with a better meal than that. My guy Broader will take care of me. He'll get us going everywhere.

He's all fired up. Alumni weekend coming up in a few weeks in the big freakout. Yep.

Wow. I don't know if I can make it. When is it? A couple weeks. Is it January 22nd weekend?

Oh, so just before NHL starts back up again. So we got like eight guys that have red jackets. Distinguished alumni. They're going to be four more guys going in this year. Or eight more. What do we decide? I think we decided four more guys can go in this year. Wow.

Maybe Broader will be one. Who knows? We will see. Maybe we get a Sasky guy in the mix.

I might be itchy by then, bud. You know, back to school. Back to school for me.

All right, Pasha. Let's go. Let's get a show here. Have the trade. No show. Hockey sucks. Devils suck. Nothing to be happy about. No show. Next question.

Pants. Holy. Wow. This has been three weeks in the go now. I think three shows in a row. He's just been

three weeks. It's been three [ __ ] months this team has been a [ __ ] [ __ ] All right, girls. What's your show?

Yeah, my show is a better thing. And you just brought his brother up, Schmaltzy. This But this is the other Schmaltz. This is the Schmaltz from the Utah Mammoth. Nick Schmaltz hat-tick the other night. Mike Kelly, best analytic guy besides Pasha in the game. He had this one up. He's getting the most open contested areas of the ice. Leads all players in pass receptions in the slot. Schmaltz 198. Hurdle who you see on the Vegas power play all the time 173. Reinhardt who everybody sees same thing 155. And Nick Schmaltz is leading them.

Wow. That's not even the best stat I saw on him. The next one is the one most five on five points from a center this season. 54 points Nathan McKinnon. Ever heard of him? 45 points. Shiffley. 42 points. Cabbrini. 38 points. McDavid. Ever heard of him? 36. Dry Cidle 34 Nick Schmaltz.

Is he in a contract year too? And I he is unrestricted free agent and look at those names that he's up there with. And doesn't the agent just go right away and like here's that stat. There's the comparables.

I will take $12 million a year for seven years. I mean getting open like that like you have to play with good players to find you. But like he's got those spring leg schmaltz he does like he can pop around in there like crafty. He's been doing it undercover for a lot of years. But he's having a year when you need to have a year. No question. Stud.

And Utah same as team you're talking about. They're winning. All of a sudden they're winning a bunch then they lose. You kind of write them off then they win a bunch. Oh, they're back in it.

So it's been interesting. All right. Player to watch and a player to watch for anytime goal scorers, too. He's he's been hot. He's been hot.

Great call. Mines, you want me to go? Yep. I'm I'm uh sending me and the wife down to the Mindsies. Mostly me. Um while we were gone to Penn State, my wife took off to go to Florida. Um it was during the week kind of like on Thursday I think she left. I was busy working obviously traveling around doing stuff. And then Penn State weekend her car just sat in the driveway the whole time and it's like cold as [ __ ] out right. And so I was busy, I was gone. I didn't think like now her car won't start. I kind of feel like that's like so mindsizes by me not to just like tend to it like go in there and start it just run it a little bit.

Was it in the garage? No, it was on the driveway. Just on the driveway. We came out get stuff in our garage, dude. I got four kids. I got

I know. Well, that's what my wife she she like, bring the car in. Bring the car in. I'm like, it's fine. It's fine. But then when we were gone, it got that cold that she ended up moving a bunch of the stuff and getting in. She's like, I think it goes it started. It was crying. It sounded like thing was crying,

screaming. Yeah. Just the hockey equipment's in there. She's like, "The car is a lot more important than your stupid beer league equipment." I think

Yeah. So, a tow truck had to come today and pick up the car and take it away. I don't know what she needs done. I don't know if the batter is melted or frozen or something. I don't know.

I don't know what's going to happen. So, it's just not what you need. I'm not there, so not my problem, buddy. But like that's a full-blown mindsies by me in that cold of weather. I mean, it's hanging in there with us right now. [ __ ] you, punk satani Phil.

Yeah. So, I wonder like I like in Sweden, this is what the people do. They have all these electric sockets in all the parking lots are in in their houses and you plug the car in.

That's a Canada thing. We have that too in Saski. Yeah. You plug in the block heater, car starts every time.

Yeah. This this is crazy what it's been this winter though. This isn't normal. Yeah. No [ __ ]

I'm afraid to even bring in Posasha for Mindsy, but I feel like I have to for the people.

I know what it's going to be. Yeah. I mean, you guys know the Devils, especially Devils ownership, minds, figure it out. Like, you know, if everyone's like, "Oh, they don't care about the Devils. They're just focused on the 76ers." Well, if that's the case, just [ __ ] off and sell the team to someone that actually cares about the hockey because if your ownership doesn't care, that's a bad bad recipe. And uh yeah, so not good. Devils ownership to the Mines's.

Wow. Oh, okay. Good. What a run. Posh been on that. First the coach. First the coach, then Fitzy's the problem. And now he went right up the chain right to ownership.

I gota I got to respect it. It's unbelievable. Well, you got Buches dad, bud. Wow. Yeah. All right. Uh my minds is I'm in a positive mood. I'm on the road. So I said it. Any anyone not to take Mr. Ice and PJ's chasing goal parlay today on the DraftKings sports book who is also a sponsor of today's show to the Minesies. Here it is. Connor Bdard goal. Machu Olivier, how do you say it? Olivier Matu Olivier score a goal. Charlie Coyle a point over six and a half goals. I think they just changed it to over five and a half goals and gave us the same odds. So check on that on DraftKings Sportsbook. The odds are the moves. It's moving around on us. But, uh, we're going to be chasing goals. Go over to DraftKings Sportsbook. Ride this parlay with us. We hit it in New York.

We missed it in Philly, but we hit the overs at both places. Oh, you see Olivier Olivier sniped last night, too. Dangle in on a breakaway. Sick hands by the tough guy.

Yeah. So, that's So, Mr. Ice said that he he scores in bunches. He goes, I rode him last year. Every game after game, he gets him in bunches. So, we got a guy on each team to root for.

There you go. I like that. Snipe. Badard. Nob brainer. Let's go. All right, that'll be

See the kids score one. Um All right, that's it. Next up, Prime Monday Night Hockey Army. Both of these games we've had ads for have been electric. It was Edmonton the first game and then last Monday, Montreal, Minnesota. It was 43 and OT. Awesome game. Did you catch any of it on Prime Monday that night?

I caught a little bit of it. Yes. Yes, I did. Yeah, that I think uh I think Hughes had a bunch of assists in that game. like well I mean I guess he does that every game but that was prime hockey Monday coast to coast on Thursday that's tomorrow we're looking forward to watching that they bounce around the games they have different commenters in there all the times boys have been in there prime Monday Night Hockey stream NHL action on Monday nights prime Monday Night Hockey is available free to prime members in Canada start your free trial wprimevideo.com it returns March 2nd uh after the Olympics Philly at Toronto and you know But we just talked about Toronto. Are they going to be in? They're going to be out. That's a nice game for them to to keep this thing going, make it four in a row. So that game will be on Prime on Monday. Philly at Toronto. Look forward to that. Some great players to see. For

the full Prime Monday Night Hockey schedule, visit ww.primevideo.compnhl. There you go, buddy. All right, let's get to some picks. Let's get to some picks.

Some picks. We got last two nights before the Olympics. Let's get going. Merles. So, you got to hit it hard before Canada goes in there, men's and women's, and just start slaying. Slang. All right, I'm going to leave that with you. Uh, 10 games tonight, Merles. 10 games. See that? Montreal at Winnipeg. See that?

See that game? Is that your game? I'll be on that game in By the way, next year, maybe just starting after break. I got to I got to keep the stats on games you do. If it's either color or in the studio and over under something like that to keep your record.

Yeah. I wonder what that would be. Good call. Good call. Sometime in studio it's just in studio but when I'm calling games I'm boots on the ground.

So yeah. So yeah, there's something there for us to to track next year because you do I can't believe how many games you do and are at and everywhere. Most traveled, most hardworking guy in all of hockey.

King of the NHL, bud. Yeah. King of the Winter Classic. King of the NHL media now. Um, my picks obviously I put this in before the line is dropping. First time ever in chasing goals in Icecon history. This line was 6 and a half last night. Columbus in Chicago plus 105. I just saw it 5 and a half minus 130. So I will take it at I would take it at 5 and a half minus 130 if you can get it. But also don't don't be afraid for a Mr. Ice three plus three game and we go over six and a half. So over there we're here. We'll have videos. will have boots on the ground.

Next up, Minnesota Nashville over 6 and a half minus 108. Both those teams have been scoring. Nashville going through the GM search. They'll play a little looser. Uh next up, Oilers pathetic last night. Third period, they got in penalty trouble.

Alberta right now though, they will show up in the battle of Alberta. You're getting them money line minus 135 in a game where, you know, Connor and Dice weren't their best and they're going to they're going to be there. They play well against them. And then I'm going out west. Vegas. Vegas money line. Eel two points plus 108 verse Vancouver. We all know how bad Vancouver has been.

They work hard. They hang in there. But they Yeah, they're just not good. No question. There's your picks, buddy. There they are.

Got to get going for the Olympics. We're going to have some Olympic talk after these picks, but that's that's not reason. I want to see Ekeel get a couple points tonight. Get him going. We're going to need him.

Thursday night, Merl. Seven games Thursday, the final night. Um, this was the game I was looking forward to because I was like, no Sam Bennett, right? Florida is in Tampa Bay to end it, but now that jump ahead to the Olympic stuff, but we all know that Sam Bennett has now replaced Celli. So, it's funny how that worked out. Coup's like, I'm going to get this guy off my plate. But this is in the last night before and we get those two teams that hate each other going at it also, which is incredible. I'll be in Buffalo tomorrow calling that game boots on the ground.

All right. Well, I'm going to I'm going to be on Buffalo against Pittsburgh. So, Buffalo Money Line. I'm going to be on Carolina 3-way at the Rangers. The Rangers have just completely mailed it in. Paneran could be gone by then. We will see. We got one minute left to go before the the trade freeze. I'm on the Florida Tampa over the game you're talking about. I just feel these teams are going to get together. There's going to be some penalty minutes, some power plays. the way that Tampa Bay's looked the last couple games where I've really zeroed in on them because of the outdoor game. They just look amazing. So, over six Florida Tampa.

Wow. And you know what I'm gonna throw in there? Cooerov. There's there's a static

there's a stat we went over on TNT last night. Cucharov a month ago had 51 points. Do you know how many points he has now?

90 something. [ __ ] 90 points. Oh, 90. Exactly. He's on fire. three points in the last month. Like this guy is a freaking weapon right now. Like this guy is going to go down as one of the best not talked about as being like the best when in regards to all the other the best guys. This guy is unbel he's art. This guy is poetry. This guy is unbelievable player. Look at that. 11 goals. What does it say? 28 assists, 39 points. Absolutely insane. One point shy of 40. 90 points. Seven less games than Connor than I think Connor and four or five less games than McKinnon also. So he's done all of that I believe in 50 games.

He has 90 points in 50 games. It's absurd. It's like so effortless for him. Sometimes it looks like he's not even trying. That's how like easy it is.

That's the thing when you watch him. He looks like he's just so casual, but then just he's un his brain is is an alien brain. Like it just it's another level how he sees it, how he makes things happen. So to add to your picks for Thursday, give me cooch two points against Florida.

Unless something comes in last minute, boys, it would appear our Tammy Paneran is still a New York Ranger. Nothing has been reported trade-wise before this freeze.

301. Thank you for the update, Kasha Freedman. And you couldn't have planned this any more perfectly than our outline today because on our outline we moved to the Olympic preview and the first thing on there right

Oh my goodness. Never mind boys. Never mind. Need a little thing. No. You know the Paneran. Wow. Wow. Are they giving details on it at all, Pasha? Are they giving details?

Conditional third and a prospect Liam Greenree. Okay. Okay. Wow. I don't know anything about him. He must be good.

I think is he a western guy? Wow. To LA. Hollywood. Oh, he's a he's a OHL guy. Green Tree.

Where when was he drafted? Must be a high pick. No, that seems like an underwhelming return. F

first round number 26 overall in 2024 draft. 6'3, 216, left shot. Windsor Spitfires.

Credit juniors. Credit to Adam Shfter and Emily Kaplan for uh breaking the trade.

There it is. Wow. Guy in the chat says Green Tree is sick. First round pick, fellas.

I mean, I don't know. This seems like an underwhelming return for the Rangers. You hate to see it. You know, you would have hoped they got better value, but

free agent about to run. Everyone knew it. They had no leverage. They know he I mean, that division is wide open.

That came in at 301. Posasha, way to go. Right on the dinger. We knew it was going to come down today, folks. There it is. LA Kings are Tami Panaran. And he's looking for a deal, too. Are they gonna sign him long term over there? I'd think that he'd want to stay there, right? I would think that's a place that like he'd want to stay. It's so funny. Posasha had all those teams running up there and LA was one of them out of all of them. LA sits outside one point outside the picture looking in right now in that super uh brutal.

That's what I'm looking at. Ugly division that is the Pacific division. I mean, LA is five points from being in first place, four points for being tied for first place. They have 60 points. Edmonton and Vegas 64 points. Then Anaheim 63. Seattle 61. They have 60. San Jose has 58. So it's a dog fight right now in that division to get in the playoffs and make some things happen. So congratulations LA Kings fans. You get another highly skilled playmaking winger with potential to be a game breaker. You know what I mean?

Yeah. I would have expected more of a return for them. Like I can't believe that was all that's out there.

I'll keep my I'll keep my eye. They try to keep make like they don't want to do a deal in the east. So it that was part of it too. They don't want to see him again. But you're done this year. So he could just go there and not and be back east anyway. But unless there's Green Tree is a super prospect. I would have expected more.

A conditional third. Posh Freriedman came in. Don't like these guys all used to be get first rounders. Elliot Friedman said

the biggest guy used to be at least one or two first rounders. Yeah, right. Or like some more guys.

Yeah, it's kind of crazy. Rangers fans, we got any of them in the chat? How do you feel about that? Is that like

But I guess the no trade maybe he won't he wouldn't go anywhere else. Go anywhere. Yeah, hands tied.

Yeah, I guess when your hands are that tied and and everybody knows you're making the deals.

Yeah, it's tough. Interesting. Interesting. Let me see this green streak. People are saying he's a monster. Yeah, I I read him. I think it was 63

63 215. Big kid. LA gets a a big kid. Big up and down guy. They're saying fire jury in the chat. Underwhelmed as a Rangers fan.

Fireable trade. Fireable. Fire jury. No. Oik. Oh. Wow. Wow. Someone someone in here said made a point.

Carlo Carlo got a they got Carlo for a firstrounder. You kick a Paneran. Well, yeah, like but the Bruins last year were getting players and first rounders and prospects.

Yeah, that's a good point right in here by Here we go, folks. We got some goal chasers here for you.

Here was Jazz return probably be me and Aaron just got traded to Rangers to LA. What are your thoughts, Mr. Ice?

Mr. Ice. Yes. Scoring desperately, right? So, I don't I didn't see what the package was.

Well, you're about what's going on, buddy. You're all about goals. So, how do you feel? It's okay.

Can't hear you. So, he's all about goals. That's all goals. Always worried about goals. He needs me to get out there and get some goals with him. Do a little meet and greet at the RB Bar with some fans, some some ice people.

So, if you're in Columbus, stop by before the game. Yeah. So, let's rip through some of this Olympic stuff. Wow. There's the

kind of some news because we wanted to talk about the deadline and we ended up right on it. It's crazy.

Crazy. Unbelievable. So, Olympic freeze is now on, unless something trickles through, we don't know about, but Panaran was the big fish that they wanted to move before this uh roster freeze. Now, he has three weeks to go settle in in beautiful LA, get in the sun, get his flip-flops out. Uh Celli injury, replaced by Bennett. There's just some injuries, right? I saw um by the way, uh I also saw So, Bennett the Menace and you've got Tom Wilson. I saw a great

Yeah, I saw that video. It was like that hust do hust and it's like him and Bennett like in a in a hitting like montage video of them like fighting and hitting people. It was sick. Got me all fired up. Um but injuries I I think I saw Landes back and cleared to go. Oh, good. So I I I believe I saw that. Do they play again? Where are they?

Perhaps tonight. Yeah. Talk about who's brutal. They've been horrible without him and Taves. Yeah.

Yeah. So, he's been cleared to go, I believe, which is good news. UPL out, replaced by Corposalo.

Um, there's been some I mean, we'll we'll have to see when's the when's the freeze for like picking your roster for this tournament, do you know from the

No, I think that remember like Well, I guess that was Four Nations, but you they have a certain number of guys they've had to have on the alternate list

because of the tech testing and everything. Well, like when can you say that you you or are they on call all the time? There can't be a thing like that, can there be? Like, yeah, I think so. Cuz I seen Hughes isn't playing,

I think, tonight or tomorrow night. Jack Hughes. So, like, is he going to be good to go? Like, what's happening here? Yeah, I think you have time. Um, speaking of that, um, Monday starts the men's. That's Wednesday the 11th. It starts for them. The women start on Thursday. They start tomorrow. We got USA check at 10:40. We have Canada vers Finland at 3:10. And that's the women's games. Check them out. Can also bet on them on the DraftKings sports book. I brought the odds up to pot ladies.

He might he might pop those odds up. You can look at it. Some good action there. Some some afternoon pucks. That's going to be the best thing about the Olympics. That gold medal game is Sunday at 8 a.m. That's going to be tough. But here it is for the games tomorrow. Look at US huge favorites. Canada such a big favorite. They don't even give a money line. So, but you can take the pucks. Three and a half for US. Canada minus four and a half. I think US has beating up on the Canadian ladies over the last few years. I think they've been doing really well.

So, come on Canada. Come on. I got I got to be on the US. Haley Win, young young girl from uh Rochester that girl that did that play for Boston.

Look at that team. That's a gold medal team there. Arm dog. Who's the girl that did that popup thing and then shoveled it with one hand? She's badass. She's unreal.

Oh, that highlight Minnesota Murphy is her name. Maybe Haley Murphy, I want to say. No, Haley Win. It's Who's Murphy?

I don't know. That chick is sick, though. So, Canada, let's go. Need a good start to this Olympics.

Get it done, ladies. Rooting for you. Pulling for you. That's awesome. Uh, I saw Tate McCrae did a U,

speaking of Olympic news, did a US Olympic team ad where she was like talking to an owl in this red little outfit here. She's wearing red. She's Canadian.

I know. Isn't that crazy? An NBC Olympic ad. She's going over there, I believe, to to be there. I I'm wondering if she's performing. I watched this last night. And then she's coming back to the Super Bowl, I guess, on Sunday, which we have coming up, too. I don't know if you have anything to say about that after this, but she makes a little wink about something about relationships. Wink. Cuz like, of course, there's the Hughes and she's Canadian. And Biz says she's an inside like secret informant or something like a spy, which kind of is like making sense now, isn't it? Yeah, like she's going full in now.

She's going full in like destroy us from the inside. Yeah, I mean it's pretty pretty unbelievable. Some other awesome news. Mer you want to talk about flag bears I saw come over

flag bears opening ceremonies. Didn't even look that up when they are. Is that Friday maybe? I heard

Friday. Friday opening ceremonies is on Friday. Leon Dryidle is carrying the flag in for Germany. Amazing honor. Good for him. That's uh that's just awesome to see NHL guys and like you know guys at the Winter Olympics I guess but like Leon's just probably the man in Germany. No question.

I wonder if he'll do with a dart hanging out of his mouth. That would be a next level. Um and then we also saw um Pasta

Pasta David Pastnok for the Czecha will be carrying in one of two flag bears. I think another uh like a woman for their country for whatever sport it was I saw. But I just saw Pasta was also named as a flag bearer for for his country. So that's pretty cool. Shout out to those guys. It's what what like we finally have Olympics back for the boys, you know. It's just like great to see that they're getting this opportunity. I'm jealous. I wish I was good enough to like do this and represent our country at the highest levels in any sport, all the athletes, but hockeyy's one sport that we know. So this is this is incredible. I can't wait for it to all start up and and get going. And it must be an incredible honor to be like a flag bearer for your country at those ceremonies. That's just

Yeah, that that's we're talking about the pictures you hang up in your office forever. That'll be one when he's walking out on the track with that flag for both of those guys. And uh yeah, we'll cover the Olympics more next Wednesday since there won't be any NHL going on. But we needed to give a little touch to him today because the women are starting the big injury news and just get everybody start thinking it's coming. We only got two more days left NHL and then we we're going to get focused on the Olympics. Going to be a great great time. All the other events, everything's awesome.

Yeah, I can't wait, buddy. Is that Oh, yeah. We want to shout out my slump buster.

Le Brun saying no contract extension yet, but I'm told the Kings and Paneran are working on it.

Wow. Pasha Freriedman. Posasha Freriedman. Great show today. Besides being like super sad about your Devils, great show. Way to be on it.

Thank you. Love the sound effect of the breaking news, too. That was really awesome. Posasha Freedman. Ladies and gentlemen, Pasha Freriedman. What a legend and absolute giant in our industry at breaking news and trades. Here he is again, folks. What a day he had. But Ross Colton, yeah, he caught some fire. I know the slump dog did it again. I will not have a slump buster for you today just because we've got tonight, we've got tomorrow, and then we have three weeks off of no hockey. So, uh, enjoy, I guess, enjoy the Olympics is kind of what I'm saying.

I'm going to give you a slump buster arm dog. The US Olympic men's hockey team. We need a gold medal. It's been too long.

Oh, I watched that documentary, buddy. Yeah, I haven't watched I' been I've been saving it for a non-NHL night.

Yeah, good. Yeah, I had to fast forward through some of the Chicklets talk on the last episode. They had Jack O Callahan on and I was like ah.

Yeah. The coolest part about it, I'll say, is like it's firsthand accounts from those guys all together talking about moments and good old school footage to like really dive into like the full picture of what that tournament was. um culturally I guess um the Olympics that year and what kind of like the darlings of the Olympics that they became and it took on and just kind of their like families and where they're from and what was going on in their you know family lives and and you know firsthand accounts of her Brooks and all the stuff. So I actually at one point just because of that like when you get to like near the end of like all the greatness and because you know you start to get to know them I like had like a tear welling up in my eye turned into [ __ ] Sydney Crosby while I was watching. I had a single tear rolled down my cheek. It just like it's just like to see the the feel. I I can't

imagine what they would have been feeling at that age to you know be able to do that on such the stage they did in their home country um you know with everything that else that was going on in the world around that. So, it was just it was it it was incredible. I I highly recommend it. It's on Netflix, so go check that out. No question.

Netflix, get over there, watch Chicklets on there. I got to I got to shout out Bennett Steiner. He sent the the big message. Glad you're in Columbus. Look forward to meeting you and the Iceman. Yes, we are here. Our guy PJ running the show for us. Um, want to thank you, Arm Dog, moving the show back. We had some travel some goals, buddy.

Thanks to Pasha for helping us out, moving the show late. Thank you the chat for showing up late. Thank you very much. We'll be back at 12 next week most likely. Shout out to our sponsors, DraftKings Prime, Monday Night Hockey. Remember, you can always find us on Apple, Spotify, all that good stuff. And um Army, I send it over to you to finish up with some sad news.

Yeah, we just want to say uh thoughts and prayers, send our condolences um to the three young hockey players that passed away on February 2nd. Uh Southern Alberta Mustangs Junior A hockey team. They were played in the United States Premier Hockey League. Just absolutely brutal. Died tragically in a motor vehicle accident. Um, and just honor these guys. Give them a little shout out and thinking about their friends and family, their teammates, their community. Just horrible to see. Kaden Fine, Cameron Casorso, and JJ Wright. Rest in peace, boys.

Under. Under. No goals. No goals. It's time to check the game notes. I think we're going to have the show of the year here. We're almost having magical moments here.

Show Mindsy's time. Army show. Start us off. What an opportunity. Another idea by me. Everything's Mos's idea. Summer.
