and the power that wants to do the exact same stuff. So, I'm a bag of nerves until the end of the month. O, YouTube has started. We are live on YouTube. Awesome. So, there folks to our reading of Willow. This will be the first half of the script and it is a draft script so it won't be exactly the same. A bag of nerves until the end of the month. I got I was going to say we are live. I know. I got to find I can tell. Yeah, I was going to say that. There's my feedback. That's because I didn't shut it off quick enough. So, we'll hear an echo for a little bit here. Sorry about that. Oh, that's that's my fault. Okay.

Uh the villager kaya councilman horsemen a wench, and lug the jealous husband. So um for those of you um who haven't watched this before, we'll be trading. So obviously you can kind of guess we'll be trading off the main characters between all six of us here. So, um, we'll try and, you know, follow you can follow along the script as we, uh, share it. But, I'm going to ahead and bring our script up. And just as a quick reminder, if you're in the scene, make sure you unmute. And if you are not in the scene, um, you might want to stay muted. Um, and I'll try to uh, remind, you know, folks to they forget to unmute. So, but, you know, keep your video on if you can, and we'll have a
great time. Anybody remember this script is I think the first uh it's like a one of the first drafts third revision I believe. So let me find it here. Um so there may be some differences between the movie and the script although I think this one parallels it fairly close. So, and just to let Simon know, um, in the top right hand corner of your where you are, there should be, um, three dots. And if you tap on that, you'll see a mute and unmute. There's a list of of things you can do, but that's where that is. Actually found the hotkey, so we're good.
Alt A for those curious. All right. Sometimes the space bar works too if you need to unmute quickly. It doesn't work on my computer, but it does ah work on Oh, that does work. Oh, nice. Thank you, Simon. All right. And I'm gonna make that a little larger because I know that's really small. All right. How's that size look for everyone? Really good. Really good. Okay. Um, and it looks like we're 1986 first draft. Yeah, third revision. So, um, and action description one, I think, is Vicki. So, when you're ready, Vicki, go ahead and start. Willow, screenplay by Bob Dolman. First draft, third revision. As Cat said, November 14th, 1986. Section one. A baby is born. Fade in exterior. Knock Castle Day. Under gloomy sky, a huge fortress looms on a volcanic mountainside. From within, we hear the agonizing scream of a woman giving birth. Interior Nokmar Castle Day. The scream continues as we move through the
grim corridors of the castle. I got lost. Oh, there we are. uh towards stairs leading down to a dungeon. Interior dungeon day. Silhouetted in shadows, three Nokar minions stand guard in a jail cell. Sex fully pregnant women watch from behind iron bars. The screaming stops. There is a moment of silence as we move into another jail cell. We hear a slap and the first cry of a newborn baby. In the cell, a black robed druid watches intensely as Ethna, a midwife, leans over the mother and wraps the baby in swaddling. Is it a girl?
Did that work? It is a girl. Show me its arm. Ethna peels back the swaddling. On the baby's arm is a small marking. It's true. Then I must tell Queen Baba. With great urgency, the druid hurries up the dungeon stairs. Ethna gently places the baby on the mother's breast. The mother comforts the baby lovingly until it stops crying. And then she reaches out and claps the midwife's wrist. Please help me. They're going to kill my baby. Ethna nervously looks out at the guards, then shakes her head at the mother. They'll kill you. Please save my baby. Ethna hesitates and then decides. She quickly wraps together some rags and gives them to the mother.
Pretend this is the child. Thank you, Ethna. Thank you. The mother kisses her baby and hands it to Ethna, who hides the baby inside the basket of rags. Ethna carries the basket past the guards and up the stairs. The mother lies back and sigh with relief. Then she hears clinking foot bootsteps and her eyes widen with fear. Queen Buff Morta sweeps down the dungeon stairs, her black robes flowing behind her. The druid hurries alongside. We will start the ritual at dusk. You're certain this is the one? It bears the markings? I must see for myself, just as the omen foretold. The guards fearfully move aside as Bathmorta enters the cell.
So, you were the one. Yes, but nothing you can do will stop the prophecy. This child will have no power over me. Buff Morta grabs the rags away from the mother and anxiously tears them apart. Where's the baby? One of the guards looks up the stairs. The midwife. Buff Morta flies into a rage. Find that baby. Use the dogs. Sorca. Two guards draw swords and charge upstairs. Buff Morta grabs the third guard and nods towards the mother. Kill her. Buff Morta storms away with the druid. We see the shadow of the guard move over the terrified mother.

She claws at rock and tears away sticks and driftwood matted together with weeds. Into this she places the baby and sets it afloat downstream. Dock. The dogs lunge from the woods and splash across the river. The midwife claws her way up a steep bank, luring the dogs as they attack her. No, I don't have the baby. I don't have the baby. She know. She grabs the stick and tries to defend herself, thrashing at the snarling dogs. And from the baby's view, as it floats down the river, we see the dogs kill the midwife beyond the distant trees. Exterior down river day montage.
The little raft of sticks swirls precariously in the current. It glances off jutting rocks, tumbles over rapids, and scrapes under overhanging trees. Exterior riverbank day. At last, the raft catches in some weeds, almost dumping the baby. Title sequence ends. Section two.
Willow finds a baby. Aubrey, that's you. You've got action descriptions, too. Oh, I thought it was me. I was just double checking. Sorry about that. Uh, section two. Willow finds the baby. Suddenly, we hear rustling leaves. Possibly another death dog. Then we hear giggling. Two children Renon and Mims watch in amazement from the riverbank. Exterior of good farm day. Holding on to a plow. Willow ofg good struggles behind a huge hog. From a heavy sack slung over his shoulder, he tosses seeds. Dada, we found something in the river.
Willow beams with joy as his son and daughter race toward him. They grab his sleeves and tug him away from his plow. Is this where Willow 2 comes in? Yep. Okay. I can't run up and play with you now. I've got work to do. But Dada, you've got to see it. Hurry. Hurry. Come see. Willow drops a sack of seeds. The ugly hug glares at him like a guilty conscience. The children squeal with excitement and there as their father runs toward the river with them. Exterior river bank day, we see Willow from the baby's view. His eyes pop open and he quickly backs his children away.
Back. Don't go near it. We don't know where it's been. It could be diseased. It's a baby. It's not a Nin baby. No, it's too big to be a Nelvin baby. It It looks like the Dini. Oh, it's so cute. Is that me? Yeah. Yes. Okay. Mims, get back here. It might bite you. Willow drags Mims away. Then the baby starts crying. Can't we keep it, dada? Absolutely not. Okay. That's Aubrey. That is me. I figured it was off. Good. Willow. Off. Good. Willow in sudden panic sees Brigle Cut in the distance. He splashes into the river, grabs the raft, plunks it onto the bank, and tries to hush the crying baby.
Sh. It's the prefect. That's all I need. Mince Ranon, keep this thing hidden. Exterior of good farm day. Bro's beady eyes spot Willow making a mad dash for his plow. Swinging his fat stomach, he angrily points to his walking stick and goes after him. Mr. Burgle Cut, he hasn't done anything wrong. Willow's wife, Ka, chases Burgle Cut across the field, her beautiful long hair flowing behind her. Willow quickly gets behind his plow like he's been there all along. Oh, good. What do you think you're doing? I tear the planting seeds of this village.
I told him we didn't steal it, Willow. Burgle furiously scoops a handful of seeds out of Willow's sack and shakes them under Willow's nose. You haven't paid your debts. Where did you get these seeds? With pride, Willow puts his arm around his wife. In the forest. My family's been gathering them since last fall. There's no law against that. Burgle cut. Suddenly, the children laugh in the distance. Willow, you left the children alone by the river. In alarm, she runs off before Willow can stop her. Brillut sweeps the horizon with his walking stick. Too late, of good. You'll never get your planting done before the rain start. You're going to lose the land. He raises the seeds high above his head, then smashes them down at Willow's boots. He waddles away towards two of the men who wait by the road. Then Ka shrieks from the river. Girl stops in his tracks and shakes his head as if to say the whole family is
crazy. Off he trudges. Willow watches and waits. then runs as fast as he can to the river. Exterior river day. Py cradles the baby in her arms. Willow runs up with the patriarchal authority. Puts his fists on his hip. Absolutely. Under no condition is anyone in this family going to fall in love with that baby. They all fall in love as he speaks. The children follow Ka up to the bank. Waking are waking walking right past Willow. Ta. We can't keep that baby. Mims running. Hey, I will not be ignored. Ignored. Willow huffs then follows them after his unplowed field.
Oh, follows them across his unplowed field. Sorry. Interior of good house day. Glow nervously paces as Ka pours water in uh in a wood tub and the children entertain the naked baby with sticks and brightly colored clothes apparatus for a magic trick. Oh, this is bad. If we're caught with that little tikini, it would be the end of us. Careful, Randon. I need that for the festival. Oh, Ka, what are we going to do? We are going to give this baby a bath. The baby squealss with joy as Ka lifts her into the bath. Burgle cuts right. There's not enough time to finish plowing. We'll lose everything and I'll end up working in the mines. He shuddters at the thought.
Willow, do you think we should take her to the village council? No. No. They'll think it's a bad omen. There'll be a flood or or a drought or a plague and everybody will blame me for it. Look. What's that? Willow leans forward. On the baby's shoulder is a small branded scar in a circular design. It only adds to Willow's fears. I don't know. This is trouble. I'll talk to High Alwin about it tomorrow at the festival. The baby kicks and splashes and giggles in the bath. Externwin village day. The rockous band plays as no one's dance and celebrate amid brooks and wheelhouses garlanded with flowers. A crowd cheers wildly as miners battle farmers in a tugofwar, finally yanking the farmer's face first into a puddle of mud. On a stage, a harlequin dances delightfully. While on a rage platform, raised platform, the five members of the village council sit and observe, mildly amused. The head councilman is burble
cut. Then we see Willow on another stage. He flourishes his colorful sticks and cloths. In the audience, we notice his friend Migosh, who wears a minor's apron rooting Willow on. And now for our amazing bit of magic, I will make an entire pig completely disappear. Me gosh. applauds as Mims and Running trot out, lugging a tiny baby pig in a crate. As Willow takes the pig out of uh takes the pig out, he bites his hand and gets away. Willow tackes tackles and squashes it. The crowd laughs and half of them leave and Migosh covers his face. Mims and Ronan rapidly wave a bright blanket. Willow cleverly whips the pig under his legs and behind his back, and suddenly it's gone.
impressed. The crowd gasps when the pig squeals or then the pig squeals and dashes through Willow's legs and leaps off the stage. Burkott and the crowd shake their heads as Willow is embarrassed picks up his things. Migosh trots up with the pig under his arm. Migosh, I'm in trouble. Hey, it wasn't that bad. You need a better pig, that's all. But as they walk past the village council and Burut sneers down at Willow, Migosh catches on. Ah, now Burl cuts got you in the squeeze. Soon you'll be down in the mines like me.
Mining. I hate closed in spaces. That's the last thing I'd ever do. I got to get my crop planted. You know, I'll help you as much as I can, Willow. The village council members stand up respectfully as the wise old high Aldwin hobbles through the adoring crowd. Mims are on rush up to Willow with several other children who are eating candy. Dada, can we get candy? Can we Can we please? Uh Migosh, can can you watch the children? I've got to talk to High Aldwin. Hi Aldwin? Why? But Willow has already wandered into the crowd, leaving Migosh with a dozen sugar charged children and a pig. Willow desperately pushes past people and finally reaches the highwin.
Sir, I have to talk to you. Not today, Willow. It's a matter of great importance to me. Burgle Cut stares angrily from his platform, slightly annoyed. The high old wind stops and places his hand on Willow's shoulder. Intuition, Willow, remember? I know you're eager to be my apprentice, Willow, but today is a spring festival. Suddenly, a walking stick is pointed at Willow's nose. Apprentice to the high old. Willow offg good. His belly shakes as he yows with laughter, encouraging his councilmen to join in. Willow shrinks away, embarrassed. Then a terrified shriek shatters the festivity. Music stops and people grab their children and run for their lives. A death dog rips a trail of destruction through the village. Migos holds on to Renon and Mims. But when Mim sees Willow, she's runs right out into the open. Willow charges towards her, tackling her and rolling away from the beast's claws.
Oh, is this me still? Yep. A loud war cry distracts a dog. Vonar, the toughest warrior in the village, leads a charging army of miners and farmers wielding shovels and picks. Willow and Migosh grab sticks. The News battle the death dog. At last, Vonar drives a spear through its chest and it dies. insidiously. What was it looking for? It said borock. What does that mean? What does it mean? Oh, baby. Sorry. That mean baby. It means baby. It was looking for somebody's baby. Mothers grab their children. People look around the wrecked village in horror.
There's a haunting silence. Mommy. Suddenly alarmed, Willow races towards his distant farm, his children hurrying behind. Ka Ka of Good House Day. Willow bursts in and finds Kaia calmly feeding the baby. Relieved, he throws his arms around her. We can't keep this baby, Ka. We must take her to the council. Um, the children run in and they all huddle together, cherishing their precious lives. Section three of the quest begins. Interior council building day. Arguing villagers pack the church-shaped room to the open door at the back and into the balconies above. The councilmen sit on a platform at the front with the high Alvin seated in a special chair above them.
Oops, sorry. I was trying to find that sentence. Take taking charge. Burggo stands and pounds the floor with the walking stick. An evil beast from the outer world has invaded our peace village looking for a baby. The This only adds to the frenzy. It's a sign, an omen. A crop will die. Got it. One beast we can kill, but there may be more. And they won't give up their search till they found what they're looking for. Whose baby is it? Yeah. Blame for this. Who's Who's to blame for this? Mid Oh, sorry. Amid the chaos, the high old one slowly stands up as as if he senses something. He looks over the crowd towards the back. At the back door holding the baby, Willow tries to push his way through the jostling crowd. The high Aldwin raises his hand. It flashes magically. He points as he speaks.
That mean? Yeah. I I was just getting Willow could come before me. The crowd stands apart as Willow walks the length of the room. Kia and the children follow partway and then stand aside next to Migosh. Burgle cut simmers as Willow approaches the platform. Earlier today you tried to tell me something Willow. My family found this baby in the river. High Alwin. The crowd stirs, but the high Aldwin silences them with a simple gesture. He gazes down at the baby mysteriously. A dankini child. Of some importance, I feel. That's what the beast want. Give it back. The crowd rumbles. Many agree. But they'll kill her. We can't let this baby die. Ah, what do we care?
Burgut whips up the shouting crowd. The high aldwin raises his hands, feeling the air above him, almost in a trance. Ah, importance. Yes, this child is special. What should we do? Instantly, the high aldwin drops his arms and opens his eyes. This child must be taken beyond the boundaries of our village all the way to the Deini crossroads. The room goes silent. Who will do that? Vonar. Yes. Vonar. Yes. Vonar. Vonar. The warrior elbows his way to the front and pounds his chest once with his fist. The outer world is dangerous and corrupt. Wankar. And the baby is hunted by blood hungry beasts. Are you willing to sacrifice your life? Brave Vonar swallows and shifts his weight totfully. Oh, if I go, who'll defend you if other beasts attack? The crowd rumbles and shouts, and Vonar mops his brow and scuffles away from the platform.
He's right. Well, it seems that the man to take this baby to the crossroads. Be the very man who plucked it out of the river. All eyes turn to Willow. Kia gasps and Migosh holds her back. I can't do it. I haven't put my crop in. You caused this trouble. You found the baby. You get rid of it. I nominate Willow Offgood. The crowd cheers wildly. The high old steps forward to the edge of the platform. With a flourish, he waves his arms. I will consult the bones. Something rattles as he shakes his cup, his cupped hands. The crowd jumps away. The highwin scatters small bones across the floor below him.
He leans down and studies the bones. Willow looks at Kia, who is worried and afraid. The high aldwin speaks softly to him. The bones tell me nothing, but I must make a decision. Is there love in your heart for this child? Willow hesitates. He looks at the baby. Yes. The high aldulin bolts straight up, broadcasting, the bones have spoken, willow. The security of this village depends on you. The people shout and cheer and applaud and begin to leave. Kia and Migosh and the children push their way toward Willow, who stands there staring at the baby. Interior of Good House night.
Kia's hair hangs down her back in a long tight braid. And near the fire, she packs supplies into a travel sack. On the other side of the fire, Willow diapers the baby. The house is quiet. Willow sets the baby down. He goes around an open wall and sits on his daughter's bed, straightening her blankets and toys. Watch out for brownies, Da. I will, Mims. Good night. He smiles and kisses her, then crosses over to Ronin's bed. Dada, what's a dyini? Dyinis are giant people who live far, far away. Are you scared? Willow shrugs. Ran sits up in bed. I could be your guard. I could carry your your spear.
What a great son you are, Ronan. I wish I could take you with me. Now go to sleep. Ranon slides down under his blankets. Willow kisses him, looks at him a moment, and then quietly withdraws towards the fire. Exterior sacred hill sunrise. The silhouette of a distant hill with druid stones on top. Carrying the baby, Willow climbs the hill with his family. He wears a papoose rig, supply pack, and a dagger. He hands the baby to Kia and then walks through the towering stones. The high aldulin solemnly looks out at the distant forest. Now you know where you're going. Down there through those trees.
Follow the river. You'll follow the crossroads. Buy a big dyini structure. Willow, this is serious business. Don't waste any time. The outer world is no place for a Sorry. Now, give the baby to the first dyin you see. Then hurry home as fast as you can. If I'm not strong enough to be your appren apprentice, how can I do this? You're strong enough, but you're going to need courage Willow. I don't want courage. I don't want to be a warrior. All I've ever wanted to do was magic. Real magic. Like you. Real magic, Willow, is simply the art of controlling the reality of others. You lack faith in yourself. You must learn to trust your intuition. The high Aldwin picks up a rock. With intense concentration, he squeezes it in his outstretched hand and then throws it in the air. It changes into a bird and flies away. Go in the direction the bird is flying.
Oh, if I could do that, I' I'd turn Burger Cut into a toad. Waste magic on revenge. You have much to learn, Willow. The high Aldwin touches Willow's shoulder and turns away. The children are playing tag among the stones. Willow hugs him. Kia places the baby in the papoose. Willow, we've never been apart. I miss you already. Take this. It'll bring you luck. Kia, whose head is covered with a kershif, places a braided necklace on her own hair around from her own hair around Willow's neck. You cut your hair, a kaya. He kisses her. He the he adjusts the papoose and heads off down the hill.
The others wave goodbye sadly. Willow. Kia rushes down the hill and passionately throws her arms around Willow, tears in her eyes. At last, they break apart, and Willow begins the journey. Exterior Woods Day montage. Willow hikes through strange and wondrous terrain, amazed and frightened. Animals rustle in the brush, and he stumbles into a thistle patch, jumping out, picking burrs off his legs. He hides from a fierce bear. The bear sees him and runs away. Willow hurries along, shifting the papoose, getting used to the baby's weight. Exterior road evening. The baby is fussing hungrily.
Willow impetuously digs a bladder of goat's milk from his sack and struggles to feed her. Then he hears something. Sensing danger, he clutches a baby and runs down a nearby riverbank. He hides under a bridge. Nmar soldiers on horseback thunder towards the bridge led by the knight Sorca whose face is hidden under a black helmet and visor. In the other direction, Willow sees a lieutenant and two death dogs. They all meet on the bridge. The hideous soldiers are part human, part beast. We patrolled the hills. This is where they killed the nursemaid.
Yeah. Oh, I didn't realize I was sorcery. Uh, she must have done something with the child. Widen the search. One of the death dogs is chewing on the lieutenant stirrup. Get away from there. The dog panics and nashes at the lieutenant's arm, ripping away a piece of armor with his teeth. Horses rear. The lieutenant draws his sword lightning fast. He slices and kills the death dog. The baby begins to cry, but the death howl of the beast drowns her out. As it does, hurtling off the bridge into the river below. The soldiers gallop off into the woods.
Willow falls back against the riverbank, shrinking away from the murdered death dog, which lies bloody and twisted in the water. The terrified baby cries in his arms. Exterior road mourning. A harmless rabbit springs across Willow's path. Willow trips over a stone and almost falls flat on his face. I hate this. Where am I? I should stick you in a tree and go back home. I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. He turns, hurries along the road, looking over his shoulder. Exterior landscape day montage. Various views of Willow and the baby trekking across vast hills and valleys. Exterior hill day. Gasping with exhaustion Willow staggers and up a sloping hill and drops to his knees. His eyes brighten. In the distance, he sees a junction marked by a high wooden scaffolding.
That's it, the crossroads. He stands and heads towards it cautiously. Section 4, the crossroads. All right, I guess I'm up. Yep. Exterior crossroads day. The place is disgusting, littered with junk, buzzing with flies, plagued with rodents. Willow creeps towards the scaffolding, covering his face against the stench. From it hang two cages. In one is a heap of filthy rags. In the other, a half-clod skeleton with one bony arm dangling out. Willow unpacks the papoose and looks up at the deserted road. He shivers with the cold. Oh, I hate this.
Exterior crossroads. Day later, Willow waits uneasily, brushing flies off his face. The baby fusses and squirms. He peaks inside her diaper. Oh, I hate this. He looks up anxiously up and down the road. The baby's crying gets worse. He begins to change her. Exterior crossroads, sunset. Willow finishes building a fire, lighting it with flint and blowing it into a flame. The baby lies quietly near it nearby in a kind of a horde crib made from made of papoose and twigs. Nightfall teams with spooky noises. Crickets, frogs, bats, owls, and howling wolves. Then a terrible moan frightens him. I really hate this.
Not sure where it came from, he backs away from the fire under the rag filled cage. Suddenly, a hand reaches down and yanks Willow up from the ground. Up off the ground. Willow screams. The baby cries. And we see the haggarded, unwashed, unshaven face of Mad Martigan pressing against the bars of the cage. Hey, Peek, get me some water or you'll die. Mad Martigan shakes Willow like a ragd doll until Willow nods and nods his head yes. Then drops him. Instantly, Willow races around the fire picking up everything he owns.
I will. I I'll get you water. Uh g get you lots of water. Anything you say. Willow grabs the baby and makes a beline for the bushes. A peck. He dives head first into the weeds. Mad Martin rattles his cage. You little peck. Give me some water. Willow peaks at him and shakes his head. I'm not coming near you. They stare at each other across the fire. Then Matt Murdan puts on a very phony smile. Please, I'm I'm dying of thirst in here. Good. How long will it take? Mad Martin drops the smile and spits at the fire. Don't make me angry, Peck.
You be careful. I'm a powerful sorcerer. I could turn you into a toad just like that. Miserable pecks. Willow throws a rock at him. It bounces off the cage. Mad Martan sags down into a heap of rags again. Exterior crossroads night. The wind howls through the distant trees as darkness falls. Willow rocks the baby and eats some bread. Mad Mardigan watches him hungrily, sighing forlororn, his eyes asking for pit. Willow glances at him. Finally, he can't take anymore, and he puts down the baby and puts some goats milk in a cup. He reaches up on tiptoes and offers the milk to Mad Martigan.
That's more like it. Mad Migan snatches the cup and guzzles the milk, wretching horribly at the taste. Tosses the cup back. Do any other Dinis ever come by here? Why? I have to give this baby to somebody. Mad Murdoch grabs the bars and raises himself up. I I'm I'm somebody. Let Let me out and and I'll take care of your baby. He makes little kissing noises to the baby, trying to be sweet. However, his teeth are filthy. No. No. Somebody put you in there for a reason. I'll wait for somebody else. Willow retreats to the fire. Mad Martigan whacks the cage with the bracket with the back of his hand.
Exterior crossroads night later. By the blazing fire, Willow feeds the baby. We hear hoof beatats. Hey, somebody's coming. Heck, quick, the fire. Excited, Willow tosses more wood on the fire, picks up the baby, and waits. No, you fool. Put it out. I say out. Torches appear up the road. A horsedrawn wagon clatters full speed towards the fire. We hear low drunk loud drunken voices far from friendly. Willow quickly dives into the bushes. Four borish picss with tattooed faces and arms halt at the crossroads, yelling and waving their torches. Mad Martigan is hidden under his rags. For fun, the pics set fire to the skeleton cage, then head for the other.
No. He rises up in the torch light. The picss taunt him. Fire. They jab their torches at Mad Migan. No. No. Help. Help. Stop. Where are they? Where did they go? Mad Martigan points way up the road. The picks right away. As they go, they swing his cage and set fire to the floor of it. Mad Martigan frantically the flames. A lot of spelling. Yep. His sleeves ignite. Willow scrambles out the bushes and scoops up handfuls of dirt where she chucks at Mad Martigan. Thanks for your help, Peek. Are you okay? As if you care. I saved your life, Peek. Those guys would have killed us. You want to give your baby to them?
Huh? They eat babies. I don't know. Mad Martigan literally licks his wounds, dragging his parched tongue across the length of his forearm. Willow begins to walk away. The world's gone insane. Good men locked in cages. Criminals running free. It doesn't pay to be honest, Peck. Willow stops and turns around. Don't call me a peek. My name is Willow. Mad Martigan slinks down like a cat and slowly extends his dirty hand through the bars. Hello, Willow. I'm Mad Martigan. Willow stares wearily at the hand. Mad Martigan smiles. Willow quickly shakes his hand and jumps away. Mad Martigan laughs in a harmless, friendly way.
You a wood cutter? Farmer. Farmer. I knew it. You're a victim, Willow. Yep. You and me. Victims of a rotten, corrupt, corrupt, rotten world. A rat lumbers out of the darkness and sniffs towards the baby in the porta crib. Mad Martigan suddenly points. Willow screams and chases the rat away. Mad Martigan shakes his head as solemnly as an undertaker. Listen Willow my friend. I'm a really good man. Give me my freedom, and I'll look after that baby for you. Trust me. After a moment, Willow takes out his dagger. He stands on his toes under a cage, reaches up, and hacks at the chain lock. Mad Migan's eyes widen over eagerly. He rubs his hands together and licks his lips.
That's it. Good. Good. Like that. Yes. Good. Good. The the the chain. That That That's it. That's it. Come on. Come on. Willow suddenly steps away. No, I don't think I should. Mad Martigan goes berserk. His arms flail and the whole cage shakes and swings as he bangs his head on the roof. I tell you, let me out. Willow scrambles back to the fire and scoops up the baby and rocks her in his arms. Exterior crossroads dawn. Mad Martigan is making something out of scraps and of bark and cloth. He smiles sweetly as Willow wakes up.
Morning Willow. Willow turns his back on him and tends to the baby. Sorry I yelled at you. I' I've been in this cage too long. Can't think straight anymore. Ow. Willow looks over. Oh, sorry. Willow looks over. Mad Marvig and Pats's arms in pain. You all right? These burns. My arms. Ouch. He holds up his arms in agony. Willow fishes some gooey jelly out of his sack and smears a gob of it on a leaf. He hands it up to Mad Migan. See if this helps. Mad Martigan wipes the goo all over his arms.
Better here. I uh made something for the baby. He holds out a rattle and shakes it. Milo accepts it. What's inside? Mad Murdigan sticks his finger in his mouth and pries it open as wide as possible. A tooth. I'm I'm starving. I got no use for it. Noise in the distance. Up the road. Willow sees a messenger charging on horseback. He gallops right past, whipping his horse, almost knocking Willow off the road. Then another messenger follows with the same urgency. Willow grabs the baby and steps out to stop him. Stop. Wait. The messenger screams at Willow, who jumps aside as he thunders by. The two horsemen disappear up the road.
Sounds like a battle. Are you a warrior? With the greatest swordsman that ever lived. Mad Murdigan slices the air with an imaginary sword. Willow shakes his head and goes back to the baby. Exterior crossroads day. We see the empty road. Willow's head pops into frame. He grabs the baby. What's that? I hear something. You hear trouble. What is it? The horizon rumbles. Mad Martigan cups his ear cynically. 100 horses, five or six wagons, and about 6,000 fools. Two cavalry officers gallop into view, raising a plume of dust. Then an enormous army appears. Cavalry, foot soldiers, assault wagons, shields, swords, spears, raised banners. The two officers shout orders over the thunderous clamor of hoof beatats, marching boots, and clanking armor.
Charging back and forth, they shepherd the army through the crossroads crossroads. Willow holds the baby, fighting dust and noise. He tries to get to the officer's attention. Sir sir out of the way. An officer's horse nearly kicks Willow, who scurries out of the way. Huddling with the baby, he notices oh Eric Fowlbear, a large, muscular, bearded officer clearly in charge. On horseback, Eric beats uh breaks file and rides up to the other officers. Push them harder. No rest in midday. We need to make 10 more leagues by dock.
Shouting orders, the officers split up, charging to the front and rear of the army. Eric races, sorry, Eric watches the army pass. Willow desperately scrambles up to him. Sir, sir, I have this baby. We found her in our village. Will you take her? Huge Eric looks down from his huge horse. Little Willow holds up the baby. We're going into battle, little one. Find a woman who could take care of it. He thought you were a woman, Eric. Eric snaps his head around and his eyes flash. Mad Matigan, what did you do this time?
Nothing you wouldn't have done in my place. Eric's horse prances menacingly around Mad Martigan's cage. I always knew you'd end up in a crow's cage. At least I'm not there down there hurting sheep. Eric laughs sourly and rocks the cage. You're lucky someone got to you. Oh, got to you first, Mad Mardigan. I'd kill you myself at the stunted lands end. He swings the cage and starts to ride away. Come on, Eric. Let me out of here. Hey, remember you don't need my help, Mad Migan. Little rabbit trap like this. Come on. I could open it for you. But I wouldn't want to insult you.
Gen peace word Eric. I'll win your war for you. Eric quickly drops the banter and glares at Mad Martigan. Seriously, think you're muted. Yeah, you're nothing but trouble, Mad Migan. And I got plenty of that. Stay in your coffin and rot. Eric spurs his horse and smashes the cage as he charges off. I'll be around long after you're dead, Eric. You slime. When I get out of here, I'll cut your head off and stick it on a pig pole friend of yours. Mad Martigan snarls down at Willow as the army continues to march by, but then he quickly gets cute again.
Hello, little baby. Exterior crossroads. Day later, a ghostly wind haunts the barren crossroads. The road is packed with hoof prints and wagon tracks. Willow shakes his head at the ashes of his dead fire. What you thinking about, Willow? Oh, I hate this. Mad Murdigan squeezes his face between the bars of his cage. Nobody's going to take your baby. Know why? Nobody cares except me. You want to go back to your farm? You You want to go back to your family? I I could take care of that baby. I'll look after her as if she were my own.
You don't know anything about babies. Mad Martigan kneels and straightens up and points up his finger astutely. Uh but I know a lot of of women who do. Oh, why? If I had somebody in my life, a little daughter for instance, I'd have a reason to live. He clasps his hands together outside the bars pleading. Willow, you can't let me die here. Not when I want to help you. Willow looks at the baby in the porta crib, then looks up the empty road, then looks hard at Mad Martigan. You got a promise to fade her. I will. Fresh goat's milk. Absolutely.
Willow draws his dagger and begins to hack at the chain. And give her a bath every day and and don't let her get cold and and keep her diaper changed. Of course. I promise. Willow hacks and pries at the chain until it breaks open. The bottom of the cage falls out, dumping that murigan into a heap of rags and dust. Come to daddy, little darling. I think she likes me. Kneeling on the ground, he plays with the baby. Willow quickly hitches the papoose to Mad Morgan's back and hands him supplies. Here are her diaper rags. And this is her milk bladder. And when she cries, she's either hungry or she's tired. Rock her on her your left shoulder. She likes that. Don't worry, Willow. She's in good hands. You haven't made a mistake.
Willow takes the baby and kisses her. O. He puts her in the papoose. Please take good care of her. Mad Martikin stands up. He towers above Willow and pats Willow on the head. You've done a good job. A great job. Now go back to your family and get your crop in. H. Mad Martigan smiles, turns, and marches off down the road. Willow sigh with relief. His task accomplished. He watches Mad Martigan and the baby disappear over a hill. Section five. Elves, Trolls, Brownies. Exterior road day. Swinging his arms and whistling a tune, Willow struts proudly up a gentle hill. Look, it's Willow. Offgood. He's come home. Welcome back, Willow. He deserves a medal. He's quite mystical for honor, for bravery, for his intuitive powers. Oh, let's make him apprentice oldwin. Better still, hi Alwin. Make way. It's Willow of Good. Hi, Alwin of The Baby Cries. Willow spins around.
Flying toward him is an incredible vulture with enormous wings. In its claws, it carries the baby poose and all. It swoops straight at Willow, buzzing him, and Willow hits the dirt. He looks up. To add to the wonder, riding the vulture is an elf. Come back here, you. That's my baby. The vulture zooms off into the tall, majestic trees of the forest with the baby crying, shouting, and waving madly. Willow gallops after it. exterior through through the forest day. Willow tears after the vulture which vanishes in the towering trees. As the path narrows, something whistles past his ear.
Fingerlength arrows rain down on him in every direction, peppering the s surrounding trees. Some even hit Willow. He plucks them out as he races along. He comes to a fork in the fork in the path. Decision. He starts down one way, then slams on the brakes. He sees ropes and nets. Oh no, it's a trap. He hurries back to the fork and takes the safer route. Oh no. And gets swallowed by a deadly pit. Interior elfin throne room underground. Willow wakes up as a pale of water hits him in the face. His feet and wrists are being bound. Several little elves are gawking and laughing at him. They wear samurai type outfits and angry little haircuts.
Where am I? Where's the baby? Franjon the elfin king struts to forward arrogantly. He speaks a hotty nasal accent resembling French. Mimi, I think that's you. Oh. Uh, as Franine. Mhm. Oh. Uh, I didn't know I took it. I thought it was Simon. I wasn't sure. Wasn't it to rule? Oh, I see. I am Franine, king of the world. Willow struggles against the ropes that bind him. That's my baby, my responsibility. Outraged, Franjon smacks Willow's nose with the back of his hand. I don't care. We paid for her. Go back to sleep once.
As he leaves, Franjon nods to an intense looking archer elf heavily armed with arrows and a spear. The archer dips his spear in a bowl of purple liquid. He pricks Willow's arm. Yow, Migan, I never should have trusted you. Fade to black. Interior. Elvin. Throne room. Dawn. Willow's eyes open. A wild little face is looking at him. A wild little person is standing on his chest. Thong. Too groggy to argue, Willow sticks out his tongue. Teeu. Teemo. The brownie crushes a brittle leaf and tosses the dust into Willow's mouth.
Smacking his lips, Willow comes around. He sees down between his legs another brownie named Rule cutting the ropes. Who are you? Quiet, you fool. We are in her majesty, Queen Shandrea, of the land of Kusham. Queen Shandria, she requested uh sorry to request your presence of yourself and the young princess. Who? You're the guardian, aren't you? Good acting, Teimmo. We got to get out of here. Willow rolls onto his knees, stands up, and bumps his head on the ceiling. The fuzzy-headed brownies creek open the door and beckon Willow Willow to follow.
He squeezes through. Interior Elvin hallway underground like a rabbit. Warren compartments branch off the main tunnel. Willow scrunches along behind the tiptoeing brownies. They hear the baby crying. They peek through the door. Inside a cluttered room, they see the baby crying miserably. Her tears are being carried to a high level in tiny buckets on a mechanized um wheel operated by four elves. Elves? They alwaysing the babies. They make them cry and kick their tears. Somebody has to do it. Why? How else is they going to make the drops? The baby shrinks.
I'm getting her out of there. No, you let us handle this. Come along, dude. Teemo ridiculously punches Willow away from the door. With a macho swagger, he adjusts his dagger belt and open the door. Interior Elfin tear factory. They enter like gunslingers in a saloon. The four of the four elves who are twice their size turn and face them. Teemo draws his small dagger. With confidence, he smiles at rule. Watch this. Right between the eyes. It never misses. Artfully, Teemo poisons the the dagger above his head. With all his might, he throws. His dagger flip-flops through the air and lands at the elves feet.
Plink plunk. Oops. Uh, was that? That wasn't it. Suddenly, the entire wall implodes. The elves scream and panic as Willow comes crashing in like King Kong. He grabs the crying baby and tucks her under his arm. Elf hole day. The brownies scamper out of a hole in the ground where the elves keep their vultures coralled. Yeah, good. Good. They untie the vulture and send them flapping away then flapping away in the forest. As Willow wiggles out of the elf hole with the baby. They run for their lives. Exterior forest chase day. Rule and Teemo tear along the in with at incredible speed. Willow barely keeping up with them. Little elf arrows shower the forest as as the angry elves chase after them, whooping and screaming. Exterior deep gorge day. They skid up to a periously deep down deep drop into oblivion. The elves are shrieking toward them. The only chance of escape is a huge fallen tree spanning the gorge. The
brownies scamper out. Willow looks down and reels with vertigo. I can't go out there with the baby. Elves. Elves. Eves. The elf army pour pours out of the forest. Willow holds his breath and ventures out onto the topmost branches of the tree. Arrows zing around him as he wobbles like a drunken tightroppe walker toward the middle. The brownies wait for him. Oh, I hate this. Oh, take your time. Don't worry about the elves. They won't come out here. Here. Why not? Oh, that's a good question. I want to get it. Because of the trolls. That's Rose.
The brownies consult console Willow and with unw worried laughter. Relax. They only come out at night, so don't worry about it. An ugly troll snarls up behind Willow. They all scream and race for the other side. Another troll pops up to meet them. The trolls slink slink along like possums. The brownies dive through a hole in the hollow tree trunk. The elves meanwhile flint start a fire at their end of the tree. One troll crawl claws at the brownies inside the trunk while the other chases Willow across gangling branches. Then the baby falls out of the papoose. She tumbles and catches on a low branch and Willow races to the troll and grabs her just before she plummets into the gorge. One troll catches rule, but can't then get his claw out of the trunk. The brownies finally escape. The tree burns and breaks, dangling over the gorge by its roots. A troll howls as he falls to his death.
The other scrambles up the tree and grabs Willow's foot. Willow's boot flips off and down goes the second troll. Flames lick at Willow as he at last hauls himself to safety just as the root snaps and the blazing tree goes crashing down in the gorge. This is not going well. Hurry. Hurry. Queen Shel and I will know what to do. Come in. Willow bundles the baby and follows the brownies into the forest, hobbling slightly on his bootless foot. Do we know who's section six? I'm section six. Perfect. Sorry, it kind of There we go.
All right. Uh, exterior maj Oh, where'd it go? All right. Exterior majestic forest sunset. Fading sunlight bleeds through awesomely beautiful trees as Willow and the brownies trek into the magical fairy kingdom. Allora Dan falls into a peaceful sleep. Exterior fairy kingdom night. Willow comes to a halt. His mouth drops open. The forest is a luminous Milky Way of dancing flying fairies like fireflies. Jesus, dog. Sorry, my dog's thumping around. The brownies The brownies tug at his pant legs and whisper. Come on. Come on. This is a privilege. Nobody ever get to call him. Go. Go before the majesty.
Wonder struck, Willow walks into a clearing where colorful night flowers bloom. He lowers himself onto an enormous toad stool, testing it with his hand. Other brownies stand watching like courtiers. The tiny fairies fly up to the uh fly up to Willow's face and giggle. They look like 5-year-old girls full of mischief and fun. Suddenly, a strange light begins to throb behind the trees, piercing the forest with helter skelter beams. Willow throws up his arms as the bright light stings his eyes. I'm assuming I'm still rule here. Mhm. Stand up if it's the queen.
Yes. Uh Sherindria the fairy queen materializes out of out of fragments of moving light. Diaphanous silhou. Willow of good. Yes. I hope you are comfortable here inside my kingdom. Willow says nothing, still battling the bright light. Look, see something. I can't see. Oh, wait. I I thought I was doing Willow for for this section. Is this Oh, okay. I'm so sorry. I have it highlighted, but I could be wrong. So, go ahead. I thought we switched it so you wouldn't take it. Oh, okay. Remember, it's fine if you want to do this. I mean, totally totally fine.
Take this. It's totally fine. No, it's okay. Uh, I can't see anything. It's too bright. I'm sorry. Just give me just a second. Just a second. That's okay. Can you stop that dog running around? It's Aubrey. The what? Any I was saying sorry, Aubrey. It's okay. Sorry, Haley. Don't worry about it. We're all good. Okay. So, where are we now? Uh, I said I'm sorry. Okay. The light diminishes, enabling Willow to see the queen. She's a beautiful vision with flowing hair and luminous eyes. Her magical presence both stuns and impresses Willow. She turns to the brownies. Broke heart of nighting gale for our honored guest. All the courtier brownies snap to attention and go into action, bustling about, going to work, some even tripping over one another. They bring Willow a drink and a delicate cup-shaped leaf and he takes a sip. One sec. Son of a [ __ ] There we go. And he takes a sip.
The queen dissolves and reappears near Willow. She leans down and opens the baby's swaddling and looks at the mark on the baby's arm. It is Allora Danny. The prophecy has come true. The tiny fairies and the brownies stop work and sigh with respect and amazement. Chillandrea seems to levitate the baby out of Willow's arms, floating her magically onto a special cradle of stram and sticks. The brownies and fairies crowd around with great reverence. You mean you know who this baby belongs to? He belongs to all of us. She is the future queen and ruler of kingdom honor of all kingdoms on earth. Willow starts to get up. What a relief.
Now I can go home. The queen fragments and reappears right in front of Willow. No, Willow, your journey has just begun. It has been foretold that the child shall bring about the downfall of Queen Borda, whose evil powers have darkened our world. Upon you depends the princess's life. Me? The fairy queen flashes and vanishes. Willow lowers himself back down again. She reappears behind him. You are the guardian, Willow. You must take her to the to Taseline. What is Taseline? Willow can't keep track of her. She keeps changing her shape. The brownies and fairies snicker at Willow's confusion.
It is a distant castle where a great king and queen will look after Denan and keep her safe until she is old enough to rule. She's gone again. Willow looks everywhere, frustrated by these riddles and mysteries. Where's Tia's lean? How far is it? She reappears again. The way has been lost in time, but there is one person, a druid sorceress, who might guide you there. She was exiled by Queen Bev Morta many years ago. Her name is Finn Rosiel. You need a warrior for this job. I'm nobody. You are very important, Willow.
No, I'm not. Have you really looked at me from down at I'm short even for Nelwin. From down at his feet, Rule and Teemo stare up insulted. Why can't you do it? You have magical powers. My presence cannot extend beyond the forest, but I can give you these. Shirandrea drops three small objects at Willow's hand. They will protect you. Use them wisely. Willow looks at them for quite a while. They look like acorns. Anything you hurl uh them at will turn into stone. Willow looks closely at the acorns, then up at the queen. Their magic? Are you serious?
The forest light grows brighter. The queen looms over Willow and he again has to shield himself from the brightness. I am very serious, Willow. There is no time to lose. Now she intensifies her light so that Willow backs away, completely covering his face. But I've got family to think about. They need me. The queen swirls around like a solar wind blowing the forest trees, scaring even the brownies. And then all of a sudden, silence. A total darkness. All we see in dim moonlight is Willow's face peeking out from between his fingers.
Hello. The queen's voice echoes the forest. Bad mortars powers are growing like an evil plague. Soon she will control the lives of your children, your wife, your village everyone. Very gradually and beautifully, the fiery fairies begin to flicker, restoring light to the forest. More light gently brightens, bathing the woods, and the fairy queen reappears. She is holding a Laura Dan in her arms. The brownies creep out from behind the trees. All eyes are upon Willow. The choice is yours. Willow takes the baby and looks at her for a moment. He struggles with his conscience. The fairies and brownies wait in anticipation. At last, Willow looks up at them, resolved and determined.
I'll do it. I will. I'll do it. The fairy kingdom sends up a great cheer and applause. Fairies giggle playfully around Willow's face and brownies hug his ankles. But I only have one shoe. Section seven. Battles and taverns and chases. Exterior wooded hill day. We see Will's feet as he walks along. He has himself a brand new shoe. Spirits high. He trekks in the sunshine. Papoose strapped to his back. Teemo rides in his pocket. A rule straddles a papoose, tickling the giggling baby. Wait till I tell my children. Stuff like this never happens in my village.
He digs a magical acorn out of his pocket and tosses it high in the air. The brownies gasp. Hey, be careful there. How do these work? I wonder. I got to save one to show the high old win. Look below. Rule points to the trees. Willow hurries down the hill to the tree line. In the valley below, 200 Nokmar soldiers and calvary men battle 100 ragtab rebel troops. From this sage position high on the hillside, Willow watches in disgust. Weapons clash and men fall to their deaths. Dinis points the uh wait. Oh, sorry. They hear the clank behind them. Willow slowly turns around. There is movement in the trees. The hillside woods are full of knock more horse uh knock more horsemen. It's moving right up next to him. In the valley, the outpowered rebels are being forced up the hill towards them. Willow is suddenly standing under several large horses and black armored minions. He is frozen in fear.
Swords flash and the horsemen charge. The brownies jump and run for their lives. Willow stumbles and spins as horse after horse thunders past him, nearly trampling him and the baby to death. The Nmar uh reinforcements descend upon the remaining rebels and crush them. Willow falls and quickly digs the baby out of the papoose. She's shrieking in terror. He holds her tight and runs along the treeine, following the brownies while the bloody battle rages below. Let's get out of here. Shh. Don't cry, Laura. Things can't get any worse than this. Exterior roadside tavern day.
Bleak rain dribbles down on Willow's miserable face, protecting the baby. He hurries towards the tavern. At the bottom of the building is an open stable with several horses. Two burly iron workers clank a red hot wagon rim fixing a nearby wagon wagon. Scary. Hold on. Wagon hitched to a horse. It is a rough place. Rule and Teemo peek out of Willow's pockets. Upstairs. People drink and shout. I'm not going in there. Me neither. Yes. Don't worry. I'm a sorcerer. What could possibly happen? Suddenly, there's a crash up above and two picks burst uh through a balcony and land in the mud. Fighting viciously, Ru and Teimo duck inside Willow's pockets.
Willow stepped around the pics, dashing through the stable and up the steps. I am not coming out again. No. The place is packed with tattooed picss. Nomadic families, mothers and babies, thieves and guts. Willow enters with the crying baby. Could you spare some milk for this poor hungry baby? Everyone looks up. Mopping a table. There's an ugly barmaid as big as a wrestler. Get out of here, pe. Get out. Get out. They hurl stuff at him and threaten him with their weapons. Willow runs along the wall and takes cover under some stairs. He pulls open his pocket and peers down inside it. I could use your help boys.
Intelle's pocket whips shut and trembles. Willow cautiously looks out the stairs. He sees a pal of a pale of milk very near some rough necks. Willow puts his little fingers in the baby's mouth, silencing her. He creeps out and bravely reaches for the milk. Below. Willow slaps his pocket, then stretches his arm out very, very slowly and gets the pale and zips back under the stairs. This is not fun. He soaks a rag with milk and feeds the baby. Catching his breath, he backs up and leans against the wood plank wall. Whoa. The blank gives way and Willow falls through the wall. And here, tavern day. Willow summers into a bedroom near a May bed.
Peeking up, he sees two women getting dressed in a panic. One is a plump chested wench with a pretty face. Hurry. Hurry. Very frightened, she looks out the window. The other woman who wears a kirchief over her hair packs thick powder and makeup paint on her face. How do I look? It's Mad Martigan. Willow pops up like a Jack in the Box. You? Where the hell did you come from? Willow strides toward Mad Martigan, holding the baby like a machine gun. I trusted you. The brownies peek out. Who is he? Yeah, he's a stupid man. You're crawling with rodents. The bedroom door explodes open and a big mean half-runk raging lug named lug. Where is he? Mad Martigan wraps a buffler around his throat. Okay. The the wrench innocently curs curtsies. There's nobody here except me and um my my cousin.
Lug knocks his wife out of the way and glares suspiciously at Mad Martigan who bats his heavily paid up eyelashes. He speaks in a high feminine voice. How do you do? Lug sniffs at Mad Martigan then fixes his gaze on Mad Martigan's flat chest. He goes to squeeze squeeze him there, but Mad Martigan ducks out of the way. ducks out of the way and snatches the baby from Willow. Hey, give me that baby. These pecs make terrible nurse maze. Nursemaid. Willow angrily jumps up and down, swiping at the baby. They get too excited. With a swing of a hip, Mad Mardigan butts Willow his side and maternally puts the baby against his chest. Lug hound dogs him around the room, finally cing him and staring lously into his eyes. Want to breed?
Mad Martigan protects himself by holding the baby up in front of his face. Then he smells the baby and winces and groans. Time to change the diaper. Time to leave. Mad Bartigan throws open the door and dashes out. Please didn't get very far. Several knockmore soldiers push him back in. Then they grab Mad Martigan and Willow and Lug and his wife and haul them all outside. Interior tavern hallway day. Mad Martigan is slammed against the wall. Then uh the then Willow, then Lug and his wife in the background. Background. Okay. I was like, "What?" In the background, Nakmar troops are rusting the tavern, taking babies away for frightened mothers and inspecting them. Heavy bootsteps thud toward them.
Willow looks out and recognizes Sorca, the black helmeted knight from the bridge. Bad Mimi, you are you the mother of that child? No, I mean yes. Sorceress drives over to Mad Martigan, her sword drawn. Let me see it. Mad Martan looks a Willow at the back of Sorca. I can't. Let me see it. No, you can't. Matt Murdan looks so Willow the back of Sorca. I can't. Why not? Because she's sick. Yes, because she's sick. Give it to me. Sorca stabs her sword into the floor like a spike. She grabs for the baby. Instinctively, Mad Martigan elbows her way, whacking her hard and knocking her off balance against nearby bench.
Soldiers tense up, pointing their swords as fears. Sorca regains her balance. She rips off her black helmet. long wild hair tumbles out over her shoulders. She's a young woman and Mad Martigan's eyes pop open. He does his best to keep up his female facade. You're beautiful. You're not a woman. Sorcera comes up right up to Mad Martigan, squinting into his eyes. She then rips away his kerchief and muffer. Not a woman. All hell breaks loose. Lug charges at Mad Martigan's throat. Mad Martik tucks the baby under his arm and dashes right out of that window. Luck bulldozes Sorca and her lieutenant and the tavern patrons take advantage of the chaos and stamp pee for the stairs. Willow dives out the window after Mad Martigan. After them. She grabs her sword and waves it at her soldiers who clatter toward the stairs, flinging people out of their way.
Exterior roadside day. Sorry. Exterior roadside tavern day. Ah it's okay. Mad Martigan jumps off the upstairs balcony and lands in the wagon below. Two iron workers look up with a concern. Then they react with surprises. Mad Martigan rips away his disguise. Mad Martigan. Wait. Up above, Willow charges along the balcony. Mad Martigan juggles the baby and whips the rains. The wagon pulls away. Iron worker scrambling after it. Willow flings himself off the balcony. The brownies tumble out of his pocket. They land in the back of the wagon as it takes off. It has stopped raining in the stables under the tavern.
Horses smash together and people fall in the uh mud and the no more soldiers get tangled up in the traffic jam. Exterior road chase day. As a mad Martigan lashes the horse, Willow crawls up to the uh sorry, crawls up to H. Oh, crawls up to him. I'm guess that's what they're saying. Wow, this has a lot of typos. Willow crawls up to him and takes the baby. We could have been killed. Mad Migan. In the back, the brownies bounce all over the place amid wooden kegs and other objects. Hey, what you doing? When they finally get their balance, they look back in alarm. Chasing them are two Nokar horsemen, plus the death dog and the war chariot. Willow ducks low and peaks out, protectively hugging the baby. The wagon bounces and fires along, but the minions are quickly gaining. Rule and Teemo spring into action. They struggle with all their might and manage to kick small wooden kegs off the back of the
wagon. there. Um, the kegs bounce into the road and the minions lose some ground trying to avoid them, but the horse uh but soon the horsemen flank the wagon. When leaps off his galloping horse and climbs on board, the other draws an arrow and gets ready to fire. Mad Martigan is about to be shot between the eyes. He quickly rolls into the back. The archer fires and hits the other minion in the chest. Mad Martigan snaps a wooden steak off the wag wagon side. uh and smashes the wounded minion off the wagon. He crashes into the road. Willow harnesses the papoose to his chest and grabs the rains. At the same time, the minion archer leaps aboard. He and Mad Martigan fight in the back. Hey y.
Then there's a terrible howl right beside Willow. The death dog is leaping alongside the wagon, nashing and trying to board. Willow yanks the rain and swerves the wagon into the dog which yelps furiously in the back. Mad Martigan and the minion are thrown by the swerving jolt. Oh no. Up ahead, Willow sees an exposed tree rot in the road. The wagon is headed straight for it. The wheel hits the root hard and Willow is dumped into the wagon floor and very nearly goes overboard. in the back. Mad Martigan and the minion keep fighting as the weapon cl or sorry as the wagon clatters along out of control. The death dog catches up again and this time bring aboard.
The dog snaps at the baby. Willow scurries under the window seat. The dog stands up on its hind feet. More dog. It gets ready to attack, but whack! An overhanging tree branch hits it, and Willow looks up from under the seat and sees the mangled dog twitching and dangling from the tree, rapidly disappearing in the distance. In the back, meanwhile, the minion draws a knife. Mad Martigan ducks out of his way, hanging onto a post at the edge of the tailgate. The minion comes after him. Suddenly, the wagon wheel wobbles and the rim flies off. The jolt throws the minion off balance. Mad Martigan kicks him. The minion hurls off the tailgate but holds on dragged by the wagon. Rule and Teemo grab a hold of the ropes carrying a large wooden keg.
Together they yank it untying the keg the and sending it tumbling off the back. Manny looks up in horror just as a heavy keg crashes him. But the danger is far from over. The wagon rocks along with one wheel half destroyed. Willow whips the rains and looks over his shoulder. steamrolling toward them is war is the war chariot. The knock more chariot driver stands up and stuffs the reigns in his mouth. He raises his arm begin to twirl a deadly weapon, some kind of of bolo blade over his head. Mad Martigan defends himself with a wooden wagon post. The chariot driver hurls the whistling blade chunk. It lodges in the post. Mad Migan tugs. So does the chariot driver. back and forth the wagon smashing up each other. At last, Mad Migan goes goes off the post and the chariot Oh, sorry. At last, Mad Martigan lets go of the post and the chariot driver is sent fumbling through the air over a cliff to his death. Whoa. Whoa. Willow
tries to stop the horse, but the wheel collapses and he is thrown off into a ditch. The brownies dive overboard. Yeah. Mad Martigan jumps off and deliberately sends the wagon up the road. He scrambles down to the ditch and lies flat beside Willow. Suddenly, Hook beats Thunder and Sorca and the rest of her troops gallop past. Lying flat. Mad Martigan raises his head and sees Sorsa's long flowing red hair. That girl is a vision. As soon as the troops are gone, Willow jumps up. Where's the baby? I thought you had her.
Willow. Willow. The brownies are waving and gesturing madly, pointing at the heap of boards and rubble that broke off the wagon. Willow and Mad Martigan race over and start digging, flinging debris aside. Now, Willow, I know you're going to blame me for this, but it wasn't my fault. Laura Danon. Willow sees the battered lifeless papoose. He grabs it and rips it open. Mad Martigan kneels in the dirt door. Mad Martigan kneels in the dirt remorsefully. When I left the crossroads, I got ambushed by an el. Mad Martigan, you saved her life. I did.
Willow holds up the baby. She giggles and smiles. Mad Martigan switches gears, boasting. I mean, of course, I saved her life. She's almost my daughter, isn't she? Window bundles the baby and looks up the road. Let's get out of here before they come back. They hurry off into the darkening woods. Section 8, the forest and the island. Exterior woods night. A campfire blazes. Willow tends the baby while the brownies point up at the stars. Not west is that. We've come uh west and south. I I think Mad Martigan dumps a big log on the fire, spraying the brownies with sparks. Watch it. They're going to set us on fire. Not a bad idea.
Mad Martigan terrorizes them with the flaming stick inside Willow and the baby. So you're on your way. Sorry. So, you're on your way to Ashley? I hate to tell you this, Willow, but Ashley doesn't exist. Yes, it does. The fairy queen told me. The fairy queen. And the baby here's a princess. And these two rodents are your guests. Gods died. He shakes his head skeptically, stretches out, and puts his feet up on a log. Yeah, well, in the morning I think I'll be on my way. He laughs sarcastically. Willow sets down the baby. He takes off Ka's necklace and fingers it sadly.
Mad Martigan. Mad Martigan, I need your help. My help? A great magician like you. I don't You don't need any help? Willow stares at him angrily. But you're a great swordsman. He jumps and starts pacing around the fire. Rule and Teemo die for cover. You're not a warrior, Mad Martigan. A warrior wouldn't lie there and do nothing. He kicks Mad Martigan's boot and knocks his feet off the log. We're in trouble. You've seen the big army that's after us. You're a fake. You're a bum. You're a coward. He picks up a rock and pitches it wildly at the fire, sending up a shower of sparks. Mad Martigan eyes him with concern. What's with you, Peek? Willow lets it all pour out. He begins to cry.
I miss my wife. I miss my children. My boy Ron. He's growing up so fast. He even helps me on the farm now. And little Mims, if you ever saw his sweet little face, you'd melt, Martigan. Mad Martigan. You You'd You'd melt. Or maybe you wouldn't. You don't know anything about love. You don't know anything about anything. Willow sits on the ground, exhausted. Mad Martigan picks at the baby and sits with her in his lap. I was in love once, Willow. She had a hold on my heart. I could barely function. I was a great swordsman. I was kned. I could have been king.
You? Yeah, me. King. But she betrayed me. She robbed me of my dream. Med Martigan gently rocks the baby and stares at the fire. Willow watches him curiously. I'll never fall in love again. Exterior woods morning. Willow wakes up and looks around. The baby is gone. He panics. He scrambles a short distance through some bushes. Mad Martigan. Mad Martigan. They've been camped all night near the shore of a lake. Willow finds Mad Migan and the baby bathing happily in the water. Relax, Willow. We're having fun. The baby squeals with delight as Mad Martigan twirls her around. He lifts her up and carries her to Willow on the shore. The brownies crawl through the bushes. Rule points at the lake. The sorceress lives there. In the middle of the lake is an island with a single tree.
That tree doesn't look like gold to me. Oh, up here one. Well, you are. Oh, I'm sorry. Sorry. Are you sure? I apologize. Yes, Basil. She lives in that island. Man, Martigan lets out a sarcastic, skeptical laugh. Teemo scratches his head and squints out at the island. That tree doesn't look like the gold to me. Gold. Morgan rubs his chin with sudden interest. Its branches are supposed to be made of gold. Salad goat. How are we going to get out of there? And Martigan is suddenly pacing and thinking. Well, we'll find a way, Willow. Look how over there. That looks like a village. Oh, maybe they've got a boat. Oh, come on. What are you waiting for? Ben Martigan runs along the shore toward a small village in the distance.
Exterior deserted fishing village day. Half a dozen decrepit huts sit rotting on the edge of the lake. There are no inhabitants, just a lot of discarded junk, including a few battered fishing boats. But Mad Martigan, keeping one eye on the gold tree out on the island, is undaunted. He rummages through the debris, hauling out a fishing boat and shouldering it toward the water. Give me a hand here, Peek. Willow hoist the baby into the papoose and helps Mad Martigan. Uh, what are you doing? They turn around. A goldenhaired boy is standing waist deep in the lake. Mad Martigan is instantly wary of him. It's nothing to do with you. But the boy looks innocent and harmless. And Willow approaches him.
We need to get out to that island. But that island is cursed. And Martigan scoffs at this nonsense, grunting and pushing the boat into the water. We've traveled a long way. We're looking for Finn Raziel the sorceress. She's there. But you can't go there. The island is cursed. Yeah. Who cursed it? A Queen Baba. Her powers govern the elements. He's trying to protect the gold. Come on, Willow. Jump in. And Migan climbs into the boat and grabs an ore, eager to go. Willow looks down at the brownies for help. What would the fairy queen say? She's not here. Obviously.
Without Raziel, we'll never find clear. We'd better go. Willow marches to the boat, calmly accepting their choice. The golden-haired boy dives into the lake and disappears. Willow and the brownies bore the boat and Mad Martigan pulls them away from the shore. Exterior lake day. They row across the placid lake toward the island. Exterior island day. They climb onto the rocky shore. Flies buzz and swarm around them and creepy bugs crawl around their feet. Broken skeletons litter the shore. Handling handling the baby back and forth. Willow and Mad Marigan claw their way up to the large tree.
Razil. Hello, Finn. Razil. Mad Martigan greedily reaches up to touch a branch. Get away. Get away. A little animal scurries down the tree and hisses viciously at that martigan, chattering its Razielle scampers over to Willow. Her voice screeches like a parrot. She looks like an otter with a bush tail. Who are you? Who are you? I'm Willow Ugod. I'm here to find Finn Raziel. She springs right onto Willow's chest. That's me, Rael. Rael. Willow looks down at the brownies questioningly. That can't be right. This isn't a sorceress. Th This is some kind of animal.
We need your help to take this baby to tear a princess. Still skeptical, Willow shows Raziel the baby's mark. Raziel shoots up onto a branch and frantically flicks her tail. A lord tunnagan snaps a branch off the tree. A flock of birds suddenly screech and fly away. His eyes bulge. Rude Teemo, you were right. This whole tree is made of gold. He strips away the bark, revealing a vein of gold. Folks, you never should have come to this place. We're all going to die. The wind begins to blow and the sky darkens. Raziel zips over to Willow and whispers intensely, "We've got to get out of this island right now. Hurry, the boat. It's our only chance." The wind howls. They hurry down to the boat. Wait. Gold.
Gold. Mad Migan. Manigan is greedily breaking branches off the tree. No. Wait. Gold. Gold. Waves lash at the boat as they jump aboard. Mad Martigan loads up with branches. As they push off, he scrambles down the rocks. Just in time, he jumps into the boat as a storm swirls it out into the frothy lake. Exterior lake day. Willow clutches the baby as a raging storm pitches the boat. Help Mad Martigan. The ore. Mad Martigan hangs on to his gold, but pieces of it drop and topple overboard. My gold. Suddenly, a hand appears on the stern.
The water boy climbs in. Give them. No. Give him. Mad Martigan hesitates, but then smashes the boy back into the lake. The boy surfaces like a dolphin. His shape begins to change, becoming fish-like, diving and vanishing. Then he attacks the boat. He's now a ferocious shark-like monster. He chomps the boat and the gold branches slide into the water. Mad Martigan bashes the monster with the ore and then grabs an anchor. The monster attacks again and Mad Morgan jabs his gill with the anchor. The monster sinks into the lake. They all sigh with relief. Mad Martigan shrugs proudly. Suddenly, the anchor line unravels, tangling Mad Martigan's legs in the fishing nets and yanking him overboard. Underwater, Mad Martigan swirls behind the monster. He pulls himself along the anchor line and finally cuts himself free with his dagger. He surfaces and madly swims toward the pitching boat. Willow reaches
out to him. The monster surfaces and circles the boat. Then it attacks Mad Martigan. No. Help, Willow. Willow digs out a magic acorn, but he drops it. He fumbles in the leaking boat and finally finds it. The monster opens its jaws and goes to devour Mad Martigan. Willow throws the acorn. The monster miraculously turns to stone. Mad Martigan grabs the boat and watches in amazement as the monster sinks. Willow hauls him into the boat. Exterior lakeshore day. The storm begins to die down as they jump to shore, exhausted.
Med Martigan wears nothing now but a ragged loin cloth. He falls to his knees coughing and spitting. Willow, you you got magic? I wait. We could team up. He pulls himself up and follows Willow. Suddenly, they all stop. Sorcerer and her men come out of the woods. You're muted. Fe, the brownies scurry into a hole. Razielle makes a dash for it, but the soldier skewers her tail with his spear, dang her in front of Sorca. Uh, Padmi. Yeah sorry. Sorca, Raziel, do you think my mother would allow you to escape? Sorcera gestures and the soldier takes Raziel away. The lieutenant wrestles the baby away from Willow. He gives it to Sorca.
This is what we're looking for. It bears the markings. Willow panics. Don't worry, Willow. If there's one thing I'm good at, it's charming a woman. He swaggers forward. Sora turns and looks at him. So, couldn't live without me, huh? Sorcerer looks up and down his naked body. Lose your skirt? How embarrassing. And Martigan looks down and adjusts his loin cloth. Still got what counts. A pause as he smiles at her. Not for long. She raises her fist and zap. Mad Martigan is instantly surrounded by spears and swords. We'll join the column. Bring them with us. Man, Martigan and Willow are roughly taken away. Sorca and her troops mount horses and ride off. Rule and Teemo crawl up from under a rock.
We got to follow them. Us. We never catch them. Anyway, we're not done. Teemo, let's go home. Rule walks off and Teemo grabs him, yanks him back. Get back here, Ru. Get back here. Ouch. Let go. Rule throws a punch and the brownies somersault into the bushes fighting each other. And that is where we'll end the first half and we'll have to come back next week to see what happens. I thought you rule just cracked me up. You're punching me. Oh, I can't believe they kept took that part out there. We stole it from you when you were digging a peep. I know.
I got the baby. He was a go we in the jungle. I stole him. I love that part. It is one of my favorites. Yeah. Yeah. I wasn't in here. Very different. I watched the TV show, too. I haven't seen it. You guys are hilarious with those brownies. Oh my goodness. I couldn't help it. There are just moments where it's like, oh yeah, they would definitely say something about this. I'm sorry. I don't mean to keep adding stuff in here, but it's just it they they definitely kept like wanting the character kept I don't know it sounds a little crazy when I say this, but I have moments where I have certain characters like in the character themselves are like I would say this like in my head like like that whole thing I wrote in our thing of where I was like uh what did it what did I say Teemo? I was like I am a brave soldier not a boat builder. Teemo most likely like stop touching me cover neck.
This is what you get. You know the queen. She told us we have to go watch and make it through the baby. Come on. I do not understand why you keep on touching me like this. I take you rule. Dude, I love that you have your background by the way. I did not realize it was the Enterprise until until I saw it. It's one of many. It is one of many. Uh, that one looks like that is TNG. It's the D. It is the Enterprise D. Fantastic. And then this is the Discovery and the original Enterprise and Voyager. And then there's this one. Oh, this one's got like That one's pretty cool.
That's got like all sorts of That looks like that's from the original. It like lights up a little. Oh, that's crazy. Yeah, I'm keeping that. Yeah, cuz the original uh Yeah, that actually does. I think that's from the original the button. Uh yeah, they're pretty tiny. I have something to complete the effect. Oh, the batteries are dead. Kirk here. Oh my god, I love it. We do. We We're gonna hopefully we're going to do some Star Trek scripts. I was just looking at them, by the way. Nice one. We have uh the difference. There's a a cat uh gave me a uh a site. Yeah, a link. They went to a site for scripts. I'm going to go look through them. They don't have any toos scripts. No trouble, which is kind of sad. They don't have But hey, but we could possibly do Trials and Tribulations. That was going to be my next question.
They look like they have a lot of Deep Space 9 ones, so I might go look through those. And there are some really good TNGs. Um, and they have the movies on there, too. DS9's my favorite one, so that works for me. Mine, too. The movies are pretty. You know what's really horrible? A lot of people disagree with me, but I actually really like The Final Frontier specifically because McCoy is real and funny in that one. Uh, yeah. Undiscovered. You mean Oh, you're talking about five. The final frontier. Yeah. Oh my gosh. We could tell it. Oh, I I think I just met my new best friend.
I think I just met my new best friend, Simon. We have so much to talk about. Yay. My profile picture is an animated version of my character wearing a a lower deck style uh first contact uniform. That's awesome. Oh my god, we're going to totally have to talk. Sorry. Sorry everyone. We got totally lost on Star Trek here cuz uh I'm a I'm a spoiler who's watched us for a long time, you all know, but I am a completely big- time uh nerd that loves Star Trek. I'm a big Treky. I got to turn off my background for a second because it's annoying the hell out of me. That's awesome. Cosplay. Oh, cool.
Oh, that's awesome. Oh, I wish I want to see a bigger picture of it so I can go and look. You know what? H. Give me a second here. I don't know if I can drop things in there, but I can try. That is so cool, though. Silver play. While you're doing that, let's talk about this script. Yes. Sorry. Sorry, everyone. I I got Star Trek. Sorry. This was fun. This one was a lot of fun. I Yeah, as you could tell, I really got to Teemo charact to the Teemo character. He just kept wanting to like say things. I swear. I know. It's weird.
That's the act of I got cast that way. Oh, come on. You Is that why I got casted that way? Cuz you knew I could not help myself. I see. I got it. I knew you would have fun with it. Give me just a second here. Yeah. Oh, this one's slightly modified with a beard, but I wanted I wanted I wanted to give this picture the Riker effect. Oh, the Riker effect. Who doesn't love the Riker effect? Oh, there we go. Put That's great. Oh, it's a discovery one. That's great. Yeah. Weight loss goal is to lose enough weight so that I can get a tailored first contact uniform.
That That is awesome. Do you So are you in Did you have you been enjoying Strange New Worlds? Yeah, I think it's delightfully weird. My wife and I sing the musical in the car. Oh, that's so cool. Have all the lyrics memorized. That's amazing. Yeah. Do you listen to The Greatest Generation? I'm not sure what that is. Is that a podcast? It is a podcast. Uh freaking for Star Trek nerds. I I I am in two Star Trek audio dramas though. That is awesome. One of them's not finished yet, but the other one is on episode 10 and it's almost done in season one. That's awesome. We should totally talk about We're trying to talk about Willow. I'm sorry. I keep going back to Star Trek. I'm sorry. We'll have plenty of time to talk to Star Trek when we read one. So, pick one out first.
Okay. I will. I don't worry. I'll be I'll I'll get that to you. I know. I already had have an idea. Look at the second half, but the first half seems to be fairly close to the movie. Obviously, there's some some differences that I know we notice as we're going through, but you guys want to mention what those are that you picked up on that. The first one is Migos Gosh. I know he goes with him and yeah, you're right. Aubrey Aubrey in the chat pointed out also there's like a a good amount of of the there's a lot there's actually quite a bit. So, in there's in the festival there's um a part where uh the Aldor um Aldwin like the Aldwin. Yeah. Sorry, I don't know why I'm the Elder Aldwin or hi Aldwin. Sorry. Hi, Aldwin. how they um they have this moment when you know he chooses only one apprentice at a time basically and he hasn't has yet in the village to find a new apprentice and Willow goes up and
secondguesses himself to choose the to choose like you know he holds up his hand they choose right and he's like he holds up his knuckle and he's like pick which knuckle or something like that like what I'm thinking yeah it's something like that and it's to choose that and and Willow almost picks the right one, but he hesitates and second guesses himself and picks the wrong one. Yeah. And and the high and well the high um Aldwin knows that because there's a scene a little later or just like almost after they attack but before they go into the meeting and the highwin asks him uh how why did you why did you choose the wrong one? You knew you were right. And he goes well I hesitated. So it's it's kind of like that whole thing. He's like you can't second guess yourself. So to show that he's unsure, you know, set up for the heroes journey thing. Totally. And in the after the meeting, they choose the
different uh this the different people to go. They choose five. They choose the warrior, they choose uh the the the councilman um Bar Bart. I don't I don't know why I don't know why I'm not remembering any of the names. Um the dick. I just think of him as the the dick guy. Um dick, the the jerk, I guess. Uh trying to keep family friendly stream, I guess. Trying. Um but him and Migosh and I think there are two others that are kind of unnamed, but they all just follow him. Huh. They go out and then the the and then the other ones leave and leave Migosh and Willow. Then Willow, they part of the crossroads.
Yeah. because they already get like attacked by the dogs and they're like, "We got to go. We have families." And he's like, "I'll keep going with you." And then right before the mad Marigan scene, they have Yeah. that sweet scene where he's like, "I really like I'll I'll go take care of your kids for you." Stuff like that. Like I I want to be there for you, but I still want to go. It's real sweet. Like it's hard for him to really depart from Willow because they're such good friends. And yeah, that was missing. But it's okay. Yeah, that was missing. What is that? Then then the pee pee scene was missing. Nope.
I love the scene where Mad Morgan's dressed in drag. Oh, I know. It's so funny. Floppy pillow. My favorite scene's actually coming up though. I hope I hope it's in this version. It's when he's in Sorc's tent. It's the It's the best scene. I want I would uh if I can I'd love to be one of those people in that scene because it's the best. It's literally the best scene for me. It's my favorite scene. The whole when he gets he gets uh hit in the face by the brownie by the fairy dust. Oh yes. The love like a love spell. So he like hates her and loves her at the same time. It's so funny.
Hello. You're be Yeah. Yeah. You are my moon, my stars, my everlasting night. Without you I would fall into darkness. It's It's the best. It is the best scene. I It's my favorite. The way that they're like almost beforehand before that happens to him and he gets the love spell, they're they're almost acting like like, you know, they want to kill each other. Like, yeah, they want to freaking kill each other. Totally. And they're not into each other at all. But then, yeah, it kind of sets up their whole thing for It's so awesome. Yeah.
That's like a great way to like make a love story out of something because without making it just oh they're you know Mad Martigan's going to clean up find his love interest like they make it really clever with that. Yeah, they make it clever or they make Sorca like more of a character in her own like he she earns. Yes. It's like he has to earn her in a way earn earn her like respect in such a great way. Who did we lose? Did we lose Pad Me? We did. She doesn't usually stay for the discussion. Oh, I mean I Yeah, if you really like the like Willow, I mean people who are watching, if anyone's watching and you know and on YouTube, you should always put in your favorite lines in the chats because they're because they're so much fun. We like sharing that. But yes, it's so much fun. I love this movie.
We can't talk about Willow without a little tribute to Val Kilmer, you know. Yes. a few days ago. Oh, last Tuesday we were meant to read this and it's okay, but like things fell through, so we did it this week. How wild was it though, Vicki and Catherine, how it's just sad, of course, but like kind of just spooky to me because I've had like things like this happen where I'm talking about a celebrity and then they pass away and like, oh my god. But we were just about to do it. I think the news of him passing away was the next the day before he died. I saw live, right?
Ages through time. Yes, I saw that, too. Isn't that wild? What are you doing? And then the next day it's like, oh, he died. Yeah, it was I mean I was cast to play the same little bit that I did of his and I was like, "Oh my god, I'm so excited." Yeah. And then like now it's just kind of sad doing it now. You know, like a character movie who I love. I mean, everybody does, but my mom like said, so I remember I watched this movie on a DVD player, like gosh, am I aging myself? But on the way to Michigan, um, because my dad doesn't like flying, so we drove and they need I needed they need to get me something. So my mom bought Willow wherever we were, you know, getting supplies to keep her children quiet, whatever. Uh, and I watched it and I was so in. So I was really young when I watched it and I was I just freaking loved it. She had to tell me though, wink, wink, drab, drab.
I think Val Kilmer's really cute in it. You know what I mean? She was like, I got the hots for him watching that movie. And I was like, mom, of course, as a kid. And like as I've gotten older, I'm like, I get it. No, I get it. I get it. I got it when I was a kid. Yeah. Ended up. One of the reasons, one of the first, one of the first reasons I I probably got really into sword fighting is probably because of Mad Martigan. Let's not gonna lie. probably side of my sword's upstairs. Yeah, his swordsman like it comes in later. Um he's kind of supposed to look like he could or could not be right and he's a little bit of a con artist but he I love Liar when the action starts happening with his swordsmanship and it's awesome. Yeah.
Pneumonia got him. Yeah. pneumonia complications I think from cancer isn't it like cancer treatment cancer but he lost his voice right I remember that then he got sick with pneumonia and yeah cancer obviously we all know very very shockingly like it can it can just all of a sudden takes take somebody because I read something where he was supposed to be at a com or like a con um that week so real sad I'm guessing it was really sudden I guess they didn't realize how sick he was until it was too I'm guessing that's what probably happened. Yeah, cuz he looked like he was doing better recently, like he was out more and doing doing more stuff. I I think in a way Maverick was really good for him because it got him out of being this. Yeah, cuz I I think um I read that he was actually really he got like some pretty severe depression after he lost his voice and hearing the AI had given in a way his voice back kind of
did apparently did some like wonders for him. I didn't know about that with Maverick. I haven't watched it on YouTube. I if you guys haven't watched it, uh I would actually say give it a watch. It's actually very very good. Okay, cool. Yeah, I was I once again almost like I didn't watch the Willow uh series yet. I don't want things to ruin things for me. I have not seen the Willow series. I heard it was really good. Same with Age of Resistance um is a really good series. It's different. It it's um that is the black the Dark Crystal. That one it the series I I waited for such a long time to watch that and actually was fantastic. And I know that Will is going to be like that too. So yeah, you aged yourself with DVD. I had that on VHS.
Well, I mean, remember those DVD players were just watching on a laptop. That's what happened eventually there. So, but I got I mean, I watched Return of the Jedi, the original version, VHS. What I had on VHS was like um Good Burger and like the Nickelodeon tape and stuff. Yeah, definitely still was like a huge uh blockbuster girly. Don't worry, I I know. 33. There we go. I'll just say it. Simon, did you have a comment, too? I saw your screen blink on. Yes, Simon. Or are you just talking to your dog? I wasn't sure. I saw No, I was I was looking at something on my shelf.
Oh, gotcha. So, yeah. In addition to Val Kilmer, of course, you know, we have Warick Davis playing, you know, the lovely Warick Davis. Yes. you know, and I think it the you don't see a lot of Hollywood movies um with dwarfs in them, you know. So, it was uh I think very groundbreaking in that sense, too, that have a m not just a character, but the lead character, you know. So, uh I don't know if anybody knows this facts. I I I'm here to I'm here to bring these random facts to you guys. So, if you don't know this, but this is actually George this was written by George Lucas.
Yes. Yeah, I knew that. And uh this is his Lord of the Rings because he asked for the rights and couldn't get them or the Hobbit the Hobbit specifically. So he basically did his own Hobbit and that's how we got the Willow make my own Hobbit with Blackjack and the Hookers. Actually forget the Hobbit. I mean I don't know if this is I don't wouldn't call it Blackjack but yes Mad Martigan is definitely no Aragorn but I was like is it Mad Mart? Yeah. Oh it's funny. Yeah. So there's like and you know obviously with Sorca and and Riselle uh he he obviously a lot more women in in in this um but yeah you could see some of the parallels how uh I've read the book.
There's actually a book a sequel book and it is depressing. I'm not going to I'm not going to spoil any of it but it I did not finish it because it was very depressing. Oh, read sad book. Got it. I like it. Yeah, don't read sad book. Don't don't read any of that. It will make you very sad. I I was also a teenager. I think I was 12 or 13 when I picked it up. But it was written by by George Lucas or a ghostriter with Lucas about that. Yeah. Yeah. Right. I don't know. I could just see George Lucas push him. He had help. No, I don't know. Who knows? I don't know. Who knows? I It depends. If it looks like it's If it's good, then he probably had somebody go through it. If it's if it's not good, then he probably wrote it without anybody looking at it because that's George Lucas's thing. The original Star Wars movies are awesome because he wrote the scripts and then he gave them to somebody else and they went, "Oh, this
is [ __ ] This is [ __ ] This is shit." And they rewrote it. And then the new ones, you can tell he was like, "No, no, this is what we're doing." He had no one to say no. From the early 2000s. I mean, they're still good, but at the same time, they're like, "Why did you write that like that?" I I contest that. Attack of the Clones is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. And I will not back down from that. That's fair. Well, of course, speaking of Star Wars of War, Davis is in that one, too. Yes, he is. The Ewok.
And my favorite one, Return of the Jedi. And then, of course, the Harry Potter series, Professor Flitwick, and the Goblin Grip Hook. Oh, yes. You know, and and several other ones. Leprechaun was one of his earlier ones. 199. Yes. Yeah. He's a huge character actor. Like I always kind of equate him and um prep who Germo Del Toro uses a lot for his like monsters. Forget that guy's name. He's Oh, um um you got this. Del Toro. It's Oh my gosh. name. Is it David? Is it David Jones? Not David Jones. What's his name? Talking about Doug Jones. Doug Jones.
Doug Jones. Thank you. Yeah. I was like normal Doug. Yeah. Kind of. But but there's something about war. I mean, I'm just so happy he started acting. It's just like one of those things. You know what I mean? He really encapsul
made up and put, you know, prosthetics on. He gets to like fully be himself. I just love that about He was also what, Simon? Simon. It's funny because he was like eight years old when he played uh the Ewok Wicket. Uh, his mom answered a casting call in the newspaper. Yeah, it's amazing. Yeah. Shot to fame. Oh, he was in Chronicles of Narnia, too. Yes, he was. I totally forgot that he was, but yeah, I mean, those are kind of forgettable movies. Watch the miniseries. The BBC miniseries is much better. By the way, Simon, your Willow Your Willow impression was so spot on. Was amazing. talk about how you were nervous about it and then you like killed it. I know you nailed it. I like I'm like I'm hearing I'm hearing I'm hearing both Warwick Davis but I'm also hearing Ian Holmes. It's so it was so wild to me. I tried but a little caricatur wide vowel.
Hey I did it too at first I was just like wait nope this is not happening. I can hear it, but then it's hard to come out of my face. Yeah, you killed that. Seriously, Simon, that was really very impressive. The only bit of dialogue that I remembered from that movie that Willow did was that ka ka. So, I was just extrapolating off that. You did fantastic. No, you did fantastic. And I always think of just ka ka ka. He's always like ka ka. Yeah, it's actually great because then you could really get into it. Yeah, he's got a very thin I mean it's kind of it remind as I said it remind me a little bit of Ian Holmes and um Warwick Davis a little bit because uh there I think I've I've raved about this before but there's a BBC production of Lord of the Rings um and Ian Hol plays Froto and it's the best. It's legitimately the best. He's so good in the movies. I know. That's why it's it's awesome. But he plays
Froto in the series and it's my favorite. It's my favorite ever. So, uh, anyways, uh, we should probably call it a night. I think you have to go. I gotta go. Yeah. Yeah. All right. I think we should call it here. But I'm excited for next week. Yeah. Finish it. Willow next week. Then we'll take a week off and then we'll stick in a television episode of some maybe maybe Star Trek. I will I'll text you about Star because I now that I I looked at it, I could see what it is. I know all of these episodes. I can go through them really quickly. And in the Pale Moonlight, give you some. I thought of that one. In the Pale Moonlight's really fantastic. Uh, The Visitor is also fantastic from Deep. There's so many good ones. That's the only Star Trek movie. That's the only Star Trek episode that makes me cry every time.
Oh, yeah. In the Pale Moonlight. Oh, man. Speaking of another passedway actor, Tony Tony Todd does such a That one makes me just sobb. Yeah. Yeah, that one is a really, really good one. The Paleman Light. No, in the I thought they um I thought it was called The Visitor. The one you're thinking of is called The Visitor. You know, the one where they uh bring the Romulons into the war. Yeah, you're thinking of that one. I'm thinking of The Visitor with Tony Todd. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And the Pel is such a great great series. So, also um we should also looking at the two the two-parter where they go back in time. I just can't remember the what the episode's name is at the moment. When they go back to 2024 be so much fun. Oh, I know the one you're talking about. The one with the bell riots. Yeah, I put Alexander Bell bell for president. No one understood.
No one got it. If we decide to do Star Trek, we should put a notice out as soon as we can because certain genres we get certain readers coming out for that and Star Trek is one of those. Yeah. Oh, absolutely. We should totally put that out that we're going to do it. You look like you're gonna say something. Haley, what do you say? What? If you cast me as an alien, I will dress up for it. And that's awesome. Yeah, I'll probably do trill. I'll do trill spots. Yeah, I'll be dacked. I'll do I'll do Dax spots. If we do Star Trek, I'll borrow a uniform from my son.
Oh my god. Now we have to do this. I need Vicki. And I We have to I I need to get a Star Trek. I need to get another one. And I had one. I don't have it anymore. Need I bet there's like a fun t-shirt version. At least have that. Aubrey, do it. You should. Right. You don't need the bottoms because nobody sees that. You just need the top part. Yeah, it's true. I'll have to go. I'll have to go order one. All right. Bye, guys. Thank you everyone for watching. Like and subscribe. No, I'm just kidding. Bye. Thank you everyone. Lovely meeting you, Simon.
