I'm DNE way and I've been blessed to have so many titles so far in my life but now I'm adding podcast host with my new podcast called the why with Dwayne Wade on this show I will have intimate conversations with some of the biggest names in sports in music entertainment in fashion and we will discuss the wise in their lives listen to the why with Dwayne Wade on the iHeart Radio app Apple podcast or whatever you can get your podcast you are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio according to DraftKings the ners are two point favorites it's been fluctuating between one and two and probably will be staying in that vicinity leading up to the Super Bowl also odds to win the Super Bowl MVP who has the best odds Patrick Mahomes does then it's Brock pie Christian mcaffrey Travis Kelce and Deo Samuel interesting the Niners are favored but the player favored to win the MVP is Patrick Mahomes Peter King kind enough

to join us Pete's on the road he's uh was uh in San Francisco he was there with the Lions and the Niners and uh you stayed there are you uh it's h it's early out there Pete uh it's dark out there yeah where are you yeah I'm on my way to I'm on my way to do a story out here with the 49ers before I come back home to New York and the only way I could do it unfortunately is by doing something very early this morning and then I realized when the Great Todd Fritz asked me to be on the show I said this is going to be dark out here where I am so anyway sorry about this weirdo uh you know this weirdo look this morning Dan hello darkness my old friend glad to have you glad to have you there can you tell us what you're doing with the 49ers I really can't but it's not any deep dark secret I just am not going to say anything until the column comes out next week okay uh what was your takea away from the Lions perspective a few

days you know removed from it well I I kind of split the baby on this Dan I think that Dan Campbell was fine in going for it on Fourth and two on his first series in the third quarter for very simple reason that they had obliterated the San Francisco defense in the first half and they were playing great and on this particular Drive they had taken it down the field 47 yards the 49ers as of yet had not sto them and so it's Fourth and two and you say hey we could be ahead 31 to10 let's do it let's go for it so I don't have a problem with that because remember I mean the reason reason why we're all talking about this honestly is is in large part because of jir gibbs' fumble you know basically right after the 49ers score to make it 2417 the second one I have a real problem with because you're down with 7 minutes and 36 seconds to go 2724 you have a 48 yard field goal and Dan when I meet when I tell you that

being in that stadium that that day that night it was an absolutely beautiful day and the weather was Zero Factor at the time of that kick it was probably 65 degrees may you know no wind and you know so I don't know a field goal kicker should be able to make a 48 yard field goal especially especially when you consider that if you're the Lions you have to think to yourself we're only going to get the ball one more time that's it we got to tie this game and then we our defense has got to make a stop so that's how I look at those two things you've been in so many locker rooms uh over the years like I have secondhand pain for the Lions I'm not invested in the Lions but I feel I feel for that fan base and Dan Campbell and everybody because they may not get back here can you remember going into a locker room that had sort of a similar feel well the unfortunate thing is I didn't go into the Detroit locker room

uh after the game uh but obviously there was Devastation in there um and and look I I think the one game that I thought of that the the G the the two teams were just like destroy or the team was distraught after the game was the Giants when they lost to the bears in Chicago on the Shaun leetta whiffed punt now you got to be a person of a certain age to understand that and to remember it right Dan but I think honestly if you remember that moment you remember going into that locker room after the game that the New York Giants would be fried and they were talking to Peter King he's joining us somewhere in the Bay Area and uh by candle light here it's it's like The Blair Witch Project uh Peter where yeah yeah I should have thought of that it's a great one Dan I should have thought of that the Raven's loss it feels like is being overshadowed by the Lions should it be man that was a bad game for the

Baltimore Ravens it was a bad game in so many ways how many veteran guys on the Ravens made absolutely stupid plays and look you know you're competing out there and I understand it but Kyle vanoi is 32 years old he's one of the smartest guys you know on on that on that team and he headbutts Travis Kelce I mean how foolish is that ran Smith the defensive leader of that team $20 million a year man you know the the centerpiece of that defense this generation's Ray Lewis he's not as good but that's what he's asked to do and he not only jumps offside which would be understandable but he plows over a guy and gets a 15 yard penalty I mean those things are just not possible not tolerable and that's what would really bother me and and look Lamar Jackson's throwing into triple coverage and again I'm not in any way dismissing that horrible decision but he's trying to make a play you know when nothing is going right for

his team but overall this is another uh Mark in the column of Lamar Jackson's not very good in the playoffs he has had one great half in six playoff games that's just not good and and I know everybody will have different reasons for it and all that stuff but you know at the end of the day Dan he's been overall a lousy playoff quarterback and that can't be erased by two MVPs if I would have told you 30 years ago Vegas would hold the Super Bowl what would you have said hey if you had told me 20 years ago eight years ago I would have said you're out of your mind it'll never happen but the NFL got in bed with the gambling interests everybody's in bed with the gambling interest now everybody it's not just the NFL and it's not just every Sports League it's every Media company now yeah so what do you what do you expect honestly what do you expect the NFL is going to play a Super Bowl in Las Vegas

it's totally insane to think about it but again that's the way our country is going right now yeah I I just worry because you know Commissioner Goodell was anti-gambling in 2015 and I he I don't know if anything changed other than they realized what their piece of the pie was going to be and these other leagues realize their piece of the pie and what it was going to be Dan honestly it's the one the one reason why you can't blame the leagues quite honestly the one reason is very simple is that the the legal system in our country the judicial system in our country said gambling's fine go ahead all you States you make your own rules on gambling now you make your own laws it's up to you and so now we have uh legalized Sports gambling in how many states in the country I don't know at least 20 and so you know that is what happened but the NFL uh not only uh you know embraced gambling it's gotten full on into bed with gambling

and if if you can make money on it the NFL sniffs it out and figures it out I want you to play bill bellich in a media job where would it be what would he do I mean Rich Eisen had the best take when I talked to him the other day it was he said how about a coach cast with Nick Sabin where they go and stream on uh whatever either fox or or Paramount Plus or peacock or maybe even Amazon Prime you know they they they figure out a way for Bell Chi and Sabin to work together very light liting and bichi could sort of change the narrative on who he is and what a d you know sour uh antagonistic human being he is I think he needs to do that because look if you're gonna hire a coach next hiring cycle and understand that when Bill bich takes the sideline for your team he's going to be 73 years and 5 months old well you better think that you're hiring a guy who you can get along with because at the end the crafts really didn't get

along with Bill bellich and and so he's got to change the narrative on who he is yeah I'm wondering you'd have to have a a strong host with Sabin and bellich because they'd have to kind of get in and out of segments there it couldn't be like the Mannings but I could see where those two guys and they're friends have them uh you know dish on games um but also I was wondering here was one we were talking about you know Greg olssen has done a really good job with Fox this year yeah I'm excellent okay why why don't can you monetize Brady in the studio more than you can with him just being at a game I don't know that Dan I'm a little dubious about that because you know if you were one of six people in a studio is that worth for an hour of a pregame show and some of a postgame show is that worth the same as when 56 million people are watching your game and watching you I don't know what the ratings are for the pregame shows but

let's say it's what is it I don't know eight or 10 million I don't even know but it's not huge because there's so many of them and so the fact is I think it' be hard to monetize that if I were Fox I wonder if you could put Brady in with Olen and maybe do a little uh hybrid a little combo platter there maybe you know the three-man boo is a totally different animal yeah and who knows maybe Fox will decide to do it but I think what happens then is you have the guy who's making what did he make this year 10 million I don't even know what I shouldn't even say what did he make 10 I don't know what he made but Brady obviously is making whatever it is 37 million and it would kind of seem absurd that the guy who everybody right now thinks is one of the best or the best making a quarter of what the big star is making yeah and out shining him in the booth it would just seem pretty weird to me yeah I I wonder we have Greg

Olsen on the show tomorrow but um I thought that he did a you know really really good job in simplifying the game and I thought he had a really good performance over the weekend we were just wondering if you put Brady in the studio let's say Fox's Studio there uh people want to see Tom Brady it's not I don't know if it's necessarily want to hear him but see him in the studio we'll find out yeah we'll find out and Dan I think the other thing is I don't know who actually pays who looks at a game and says I'm gonna watch this I'm more eager to watch this because I love the analyst of the game I I mean maybe some people did that with John Madden I don't know but I tend to think that the vast vast vast majority are going to tune in if Boo the clown is the analyst on the game well I'm wondering about that too if you got 56 million that watch the game it's you know does Tom Brady bring more to that or if I put him in the

studio you're going to watch the pregame maybe more and then you'll stay tuned for halftime and then you'll stay tuned for the post game as well like that would be something that I think you could say Brady is getting an audience keeping an audience more than you know who's broadcasting the game maybe but just Dan imagine if you were Fox right now and you go to Tom Brady and say hey I know you've been working for the last six months and doing a lot of practice broadcasts and you've been going around the country and meeting with different people and really honing your craft when you become an analist at a game site and imagine fox goes to him now and said uh we want you to to be in the studio if I'm Brady I'm saying a no B you got still got to pay me what I'm worth because this is not what you hired me to do what would a Super Bowl win mean for Patrick Mahomes I mean he's already had an absurd career he's already had the kind

of career that onethird of the way through it that I'm pretty sure he'd make the Pro Football Hall of Fame if uh you know two weeks from now he never stepped on a football field again but what what it would mean is it would accelerate his process in winning a third Super Bowl to basically competing with Tom Brady uh to be the best ever because clearly if you win a third Super Bowl in your first six years that's an absurd start to your career and again look Brady had sort of two careers he had that first half you know when he won three Super Bowls then he had a drought and then he won three more so I I don't know what it would do other than to just sort of put an exclamation point on what everybody already thinks of him which is that he's got a very good chance of going down as the best of all time what would a Super Bowl do for Brock pie he's already an incredible story and I think if he wins this game I mean

maybe possibly could be you know we'll shut up all the people who think the 49ers are winning in spite of Brock pie which is so ridiculously insane you know and I hate the holy analytics element that that b basically gives that breath because a guy who's the quarterback of a winning football team you can't make excuses for that he has a lot to do with it he doesn't have everything to do with it and he has an incredible Supporting Cast but let me ask you this question how great is Jared goff's Supporting Cast it's probably the best supporting cast of Any quarterback in football and yet everybody talks about oh man gof is really taking his game to the next level I mean at some point you're going to have to and again look Brock P's had his hiccups this year there's no question about it but you know every quarterback does and I just think the second half he played in that game and how he's played overall in his

first whatever 25 28 games in the NFL it really should be enough for people now but for some it isn't great to talk to you Pete thanks for joining us and uh safe travels back thanks so much Dan appreciate it that's Peter King on the road doing something secretive what could it be what could it be for Peter we're going to find out next Monday the football morning in America column all right we'll take a break coming up next we've got our play of the day be sure to catch the LIVE edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at 9:00 a.m. eastern 6:00 a.m. Pacific on FOX Sports radio and the iHeart app Paulie Fusco here with Tony fousco yo of course you know us as the host of the number one rated show in all of Sports Talk the Paulie and Tony Fusco show yeah now the suits at Fox Sports Radio gave us this air time cuz they wanted us to tell you how great our show is why yeah instead of us doing that

Lea break it down du die okay du die Rodrigo yeah she's big she's a big one uh Chase Daniel former NFL quarterback and uh you'll love the Chase Daniel show on YouTube he breaks down everything he knows what he's talking about when it comes to quarterbacks and he joins us on the program all right case Lions what they did on Sunday how would you factor in everything with the game the location what you normally do what the ners were doing like how do you come up with the decision either you're with Dan Campbell or against him yeah I mean look this is what Dan Campbell has done the entire year long and so I believe that what he felt was right he was very excited about it he was very confident about it you saw these shots on the sideline they kept going to him but my push back would be you got to understand that there's moments in certain games the NFC Championship Game on the road the first

fourth down okay they kicked it the second fourth down he went for it they didn't get it you had a chance to go up three scores and when you have a chance to go up 17 points you're up 14 on the road in a hostile environment with Brock py not playing well in the first half in really this third quarter is when he started heating up you have to take it the three-score deficit for someone like uh the other quarterback does something with your mind you're like man okay I can get two scores but when you hit that 17-point threshold in my opinion that's tough to come back from the pressure mounts on you you got to understand where you're playing so look I think he should have kicked both of them and I know people are like well if they would have made it you know you wouldn't be saying that and they would be winning if he kicks just one of them they're tied game they're going overtime if he kicks

both of them and this is staying make them okay if he kicks both of them they win the game and I get it Badgley it was a 48 yard field goal he's 45% in his career at 48 yards and above I understand that but he must have really liked the play call or whatever it was but I look I I played with Dan as a player in 2009 and he coached the tight ends when I was in 2017 back in New Orleans for my second uh flight there so I understand his thinking he's very confident in what he does and he almost wills it to happen but it didn't happen for him and I'm sure he's going to regret that for a long time all right break down Brock pie with the good and the bad with Brock pie so far what when does he get why is he bad and then why is he all of a sudden really good well look the first half was awful I think he threw for 45 yards or something something insane interception the interception was really bad and you got

to understand when you're when you're backed up you can't just just throw it I know it got tipped but I think it was going to get intercepted regardless and I think the the game plan really changed in the second half they started spreading everyone out and empty and he started just finding completions they got Debo Samuel involved and I think that this is the biggest thing that separates Brock from say a Jimmy G or other quarterbacks that that Kyle shanan had in that system is his legs he ran for 51 yards right four yards less than what Lamar Jackson ran against the Chiefs so that's an underwhelming part of his game that the people need to understand that this when this happens like that it's huge when things are covered downfield if you can just go out of the pocket and move to your right to your left up in the pocket just buy that extra time it puts a lot of stress on the defense and look I've

been saying this the whole time Dan on my YouTube show on NFL Network National TV like I don't understand the Brock py slander at all and that's the biggest issue I have with so-called experts that don't even watch the film they watch a couple highlights the dude has been making throws and plays the entire year that I've only seen a handful of quarterbacks make in their entire career I've been a part of I've seen that the way he layers throws over top of linebacker heads uh underneath the third level and the safeties is something I really haven't seen in a long time breaking down film and yeah he struggled I get it but he also you got to give them the credit because they were down 17 they scored 27 points in the third and fourth quarter combined to go on and take the lead so I think this was a good Learning lesson for Brock look he's been a starter for two years really half the year last year and all the Year this

year and he's got into back-to-back NFC championship games he's got an NFC Championship win under his belt and he's going against the king and Patrick Mahomes which I think is going to be a pretty good game in my opinion well I'm just trying to understand are we going to see Brock pie the second half Brock pie in the first half of the super does he do they start that way to get him into a comfort level well I I don't think you can start that way against Steve spagnol and these Chiefs because what these Chiefs are doing on defense right now it's special right spags is bitching you from all different areas of the field he understands he's playing multiple Personnel groupings and that's sort of what Kyle Shanahan does on offense they like to get in these big Personnel groups and a lot of teams don't match them so they're able to run the football I think the biggest thing that the 49ers have to do in the biggest

stage of Brock PR's like small career is you got to run the football early and often you got to get Brock into a rhythm and if they can do that and Brock can get the feel the game I don't think it's going to start coming with him until the third and fourth quarter meeting like I don't think he's going to start feeling it I mean he might start fast but this is the longest leadup to the biggest game you're ever going to play in your entire life right and there's so many other things forget about the football side of things for a second okay this when he woke up on Monday yesterday he had to figure out what family members are going what hotel are they going to stay out where am I going to fly my family from who in my family is going to get to go I can only buy 15 tickets okay I got to get the tickets right I got to understand hey do I need to prepare more in the first week or should I just go

about my business not prepare at all should I go into there are so many things other than football that he has to worry about and my advice to him being a part of it and being a part of with Drew Brees is get all the stuff that doesn't matter out of the way in the first four and five days and then spend the next 10 days just focusing on football you got to have a no man what does that mean you got to have somebody in your C in your party the bad guy because you don't want to deal with it I would turn my phone off I would just say hey if you need anything go through my dad he can be he looks like he could be a good no man to me or his mom or his friend or his buddy or somebody so he can just focus on the main thing and that main thing is winning a Super Bowl we're talking to Chase Daniel former NFL quarterback and host of The Chase Daniel show on YouTube I'm wondering about the Chiefs what what Baltimore was expecting

and what Baltimore saw because we kept waiting for Lamar to be Lamar why wasn't he the M you know the MVP version well I mean that's the narrative about him right he's two and four in the playoffs he's only won two playoff games he's going to end up having two MVPs and that's great and all and even even Lamar said hey look I'm getting old I need to win a Super Bowl and that's the thing about me like I I do think Lamar I wouldn't say Leiden egg but I don't think he played up to his standard obviously three turnovers on offense their whole team had four personal foul penalties but when you actually break it down and you look at Lamar in the throws he was off kelter off Rhythm the entire day and that has to do with Steve spagnola's defense I I think that what Steve spanola did they confused him they got into a lot of different Personnel groupings six in fact Steve spola did they were in nickel they were in base

they were in heavy they were in in 64 they were in 4-3 they were in so many different things and it sort of confused Lamar and you got to give credit to the secondary as well for the Chiefs they played excellent Jerry sne with a huge Punch Out Of Z flowers and I just think the championship experience of the Chiefs overall team played a factor I i' I've talked to a lot of people that oh Championship experience doesn't matter yes it does the Chiefs had no turnovers they didn't have any personal foul penalties they didn't uh shoot themselves in the foot like Baltimore did and then you look at the play calling on Baltimore side it didn't help out Lamar they put everything on Lamar that Todd monk in the OC for the Baltimore Ravens he only ran the ball 16 times they were averaging coming into the game running the ball 31 times Gus Edwards got three carries his first Carry went for 15 yards and he ended up

with 20 on three carries and the game never got above 10 points so I just didn't understand the game plan I think Lamar didn't play well I think it was like the perfect storm of Hey look the Chiefs went in there handled business they had the championship experience and then you also talk about Lamar and his narrative about him right what I said earlier they built this entire thing around him and he is yet to break through for a legit Legacy defining win can you teach Patrick Mahomes to somebody else another quarterback oh man uh I think the biggest thing about Patrick Mahomes that I've noticed this year is he's sort of taken a step back he's evolved and he hasn't had to win a lot of games and I think that's the biggest thing you're seeing here especially into the playoffs with Andy Reid and Matt naggie the OC uh for the Chiefs they're calling a really balanced game through three playoff

games the Chiefs have only thrown the ball 11 more times than they've ran the ball and I think you got to give credit to momes I think you got to give credit to that offensive staff and that's the best thing I've seen about Mahomes he's not forcing things he's not taking sacks he's really done a good job and he even said it in the press conference when he was praising Steve Spagnola he said I've had to take a step back and understand how to play the game a little bit different because we have a once in a generation type defense and so they're winning games because of the defense but I do think when you look at the playoffs in those three games they're starting to cook and that's bad news for Sam Fran defense which has got and run over the past two playoff games always great stuff we appreciate your time Chase and good luck with the YouTube channel thanks for having me on guys that's Chase Daniel uh the Chase Daniel show on

YouTube let me get to Andrew in Washington get some phone calls here uh good morning Andrew what's on your mind good morning Dad denet thanks for taking my call um I really you know do agree with your Super Bowl Saturday night I think they could make it a big deal they could do the red carp with all the players coming in from each team and look at the fits they could also do instead of a concert on Sunday why don't just keep it going sort of like New Year's Eve where you do concerts after the event and they just keep going keep the people in there get more concession stand I know they don't sell beer after a certain point so they got to watch out for that but I like Super Bowl Saturday night on another uh hand my question is about Dan Campbell Dan Campbell seems like an emotional style hyped up coach and a lot of times teams that follow those coaches they get to their precipice and then they never recapture

that emotional connection so pretty much optically if the Detroit Lions don't make it to the Super Bowl every season after this with Dan Campbell is not a success he's had three straight seasons of growth and then they have Jared G's contract coming up and will they try to reset the contract with a rookie quarterback after him and will Dan Campbell still be the coach in Detroit after two more seasons that's my question all right uh we've seen teams move on from coaches we've seen Super Bowl winning teams move on from coaches after two years uh I I don't put anything out of the realm of possibility with that but you know he he has a team that plays in His image you know like Jim Harbaugh is looking for teams you know having that DNA of that Jim had when he played you know that they're going to take take your heart out and that's what Dan Campbell has with his team will they continue to buy into that uh are they

questioning their coach everybody else seems to be questioning Dan Campbell uh felt like his that was his ultimate way of saying I believe in you guys at least if I'm the offense I take it that way if I'm the defense I might go man does he think we can stop the ners because once again I do think that factored in Detroit was not stopping San Francisco and I think that there's a uh-oh moment and I think maybe that factored in to what degree I don't know but that'd be something I'd want to ask Dan Campbell How concerned were you your defense was not going to stop San Francisco the entire game and you got to you know we a lot of times teams will play that prevent offense like we're going to just Dink and dunk and run the ball and you know not be aggressive he wanted his team to be aggressive from start to finish they'd cost him we'll take a break when we come back we're going to play the Travis Kelce

game yes first ever Travis Kelce game we'll have that next Fox Sports Radio has the best Sports Talk lineup in the nation catch all of our shows at foxsports radio.com and within the iHeart Radio App search FSR to listen live what's up everybody I'm DNE Wade and I've been blessed to have so many titles so far in my life but now I'm adding podcast host with my new podcast called the why with Dwayne way how did you feel about me in 2006 well there wasn't a lot of love there I'd say so there was definitely yeah there was definitely some some cold times as I step into a new phase of my life after basketball I find myself with new Inspirations new motivations and new wise on this show I will have intimate conversations with some of the biggest names in sports in music entertainment in fashion and we will discuss the wise in their lives everybody Welcome Rick Ross to the podcast my God my brother

Melo lindsy Von Pal Gasol Pat Riley D welcome listen to the why with Dwayne Wade on the iHeart Radio app Apple podcast or whatever you can get your podcast two three 4 Anthony Edwards scored 27 last night he now has just over 6,000 career points in 267 games seventh fastest active player to reach 6,000 career points and what is he 22 years of age uh he is the scorer though I mean that he's the best player on their team I don't know if his teammates know that but Anthony Edwards had 27 all right we'll get some more phone calls coming up speaking of scoring Crawford NBA Sixth Man of the Year three times played for nine teams over 20 Seasons I believe scored over 50 points coming off the bench and maybe didn't have an assist in that game is that right did did Jamal score 51 or something and then he had no assists I I think he had two assists two assists I had five assists no you didn't you

didn't have five go look it up there okay look up the box score all right well welcome Jamal we're talking scoring here um you know now it's 60 a night not a big deal even 70 doesn't feel like a big deal tell us why we've had so much individual scoring and so much team scoring well I think it's a combination of things obviously I think Talent from 1 to 12 is up uh across the board but I also think the defender a little bit handicapped uh you can't really touch a person you can't you know it's freedom of movement with the everybody wants to see the skills of the players but the points right now are just it's unbelievable though I think the power of the three-point shot and the fact that everybody can shoot the three-point shot as far as being allowed to it used to be some restraint you know like it's reserved for guys who can really shoot it now you have role players taking 14 15 threes in the game and that helped

scoring as well is somebody going to get to 90 no I hope not come on Dan but it it's tough I mean you see 70 just getting thrown up 70 is like the new 50 but is it bad is it bad for the game that we're seeing 7073 and we're not really blinking at it I I think it's bad for the game that it's happening this often okay if it was you know in anomally and happen once a year it would be something to really be revered now it's happening so often you don't know when it's going to happen I'm not sure how good that is for the game happen this off well Luca had 73 and took 33 shots yeah normally if you're going to be putting up those kind of points you're going to be putting up a lot more shots than that and you know what I told my son I said how many points luuka score tonight he said 73 I said but did you notice he had 14 assists as well and he's like oh I said because scores whenever you can score

like that and then you can pass like that you put the defense in the trick bag it's not like I said if he only had five assists he may have 55 points but the fact that he can score and pass he's manipulating the game and he's doing at the highest level right now so you think Kobe's 81 is safe I think it's safe I hope it's safe because that 81 was against it was against a Zone it against three Defenders go back and look at the spacing and how tough those those makes were on the 81-point night yeah we we need to appreciate that for sure it always felt like he had tougher shots he made tougher shots than anybody I remember is that fair I mean I don't know if I'm overrating or exaggerating here but it felt like Kobe they were tough tough makes they were tough tough makes for everybody but Kobe he he did them he practiced you know that way I I heard one story one of his trainers told me one time Kobe was working out and he

wanted the trainer to foul him and the trainer's fouling him he's like no no Hit Me Harder hit me harder and where the guy was just basically draped all over him and Kobe was still making shots so he practiced that way so for him it was easy it feels like you got your alen Iverson shirt on is is Iverson sort of taking over where Kobe was with younger players where that it wasn't their Jordan I mean he's their Jordan it's not uh you know Kobe I think while he was still alive and then Allan Iverson uh is that true yeah I think those guys in particular especially for my generation they really penetrated uh everything they penetrated culture they penetrated you know the game the way they played they did it in a rebellious Fearless type of way and I think the guys that are really chasing being Fearless you know they come from the Kobe Iverson tree for sure yeah Iverson though man he just kept coming at you didn't he DP he

just did not stop he was relentless he didn't care what he was shooting he didn't care the odds were stacked against him when they beat the Lakers and they were you know the one lak lost the Lakers had that whole playoff run he was just so fearless and he made you believe he had a chance even if you look at the team he shouldn't have had a chance uh what do you have Paulie uh April 9th 2019 Jamal was that your last game Phoenix Suns Dallas Mavericks in an official Arena yes it was it was Dirk's party but I tried to make it my party as well yeah you had 51 and five assists I confus you with Jimmer fet who had zero points and Z zero assists that game but yeah 51 points 18 of that was pully that was the only 50-point game I lost and like I said the there was no way you're walking out there with a win in Dirk's last home game but that was the only one I always you know tell my son that you can score a lot but if you can get

assists as well it makes the game scoring becomes easier so that's one of the things I'm I'm hammering home to him right now he's Jamal Crawford Turner Sports NBA analyst and won the Sixth Man of the Year three time do you have did you ever say I'm the Sixth Man haven't I earned the starting role with any of these teams you know what damn when I when I was starting we weren't winning much and I didn't like that feeling I'm like you know what I won in high school I won in college the games I played I want as a kid I'll do whatever it takes and the perfect storm came for me to get traded right in the middle of my career to a team that already had a starting unit assemble so I just own the six-man I didn't know it take on a life of its own like it has now to see everybody every gym I go to in the country you know the six man or that's really really cool because that was not the plan I did not

grow up saying I wanted to be a six man that's for sure okay but do we celebrate this Sixth Man now doesn't seem like that's as big a deal today's NBA we don't we don't and I think it's it's tough because we'll see a guy like Lou Williams in the past obviously Manu uh and Kobe made All-Star game is a six man Kobe was voted in but we'll see we ask a guy to sacrifice and come off the bench and when he's sacrificing if you're a six- man you're probably gonna sacrifice money playing time endorsements everything that comes with it but then we don't reward him when it's that time if he's playing that level Lou Williams a few years back was averaging 20 points Off the Bench he could have absolutely made the All-Star game if he was just starting but some coaches viewed him as off the- bench guy even though they treated him as a starter Dan I saw a crazy stat I think um fourth all time in fourth quarter points in history since

they've been tracking as a sixth man up there with Kobe LeBron Dirk and I forgot the last game maybe Paulie could look it up but yeah I was I mean as a six-man basically you know I'm wondering as um we have that minimum you got to play in at least 65 games that could cost joeel embid another MVP because he missed the game in Denver and then missed the game in Portland what do you think of that minimum number of games that you have to play to be eligible for postseason Awards well I like I like what they're trying to do obviously but MB is having an MVP type season there's no doubt so if he's one game short of the minimum with the season he's had and the season his team is having that's a tough pH of swallow but the way he's playing when he is playing is dominant like he's absolutely dominant you can make an argument that could be the third one because he thought he should have had the first year you know even though I'm

a huge huge Joker fan as well well Joker probably I think it was last year yeah I think I think it was held against him that he didn't have postseason success prior to so he'd won two MVPs and the voters probably went we can't give him a three repat he hasn't done anything in the postseason then wins the you know NBA title now I think voters look at you know Joker differently whereas we're waiting for embiid it's like Lamar Jackson like okay MVP you can't even get to a championship and I think that might be held against embid this year uh and the number of games that he's going to miss and speaking of Joker's greatness last year he could have won MVP I felt like some criticism in the media he just took his foot off the gas and said you know what brother no problem I'll go win the finals I'll Le the stats in in points assists rebounds I'll do it in such a dominant fashion I don't even care then I'll go ride my horses so

Joker is a is a treat and the gift as well yeah I don't know if it matters to him I think he's competitive but I don't I don't know if it's as important as it is to us that we think it is I was also wondering about Doc Rivers took over for the bucks they lost last night in his debut he said I wouldn't wish this job on anybody why nobody's holding a gun to Doc's head he's got it he had a great job in the media why did he take it no no Doc's a coach though if you know Doc and I'm sure you you do he would you know watching film all hours of the night wouldn't sleep like he's just it's in his blood a Coach and he's great at media as well so obviously you know we all enjoy listening to him called games but to his heart or heart he's a coach and and not a bad you know situation to walk into when you have two top 75 players of all time yeah but he's making it seem like it's you know he's walking

into uh Orlando yeah come on no no he's walking into a great situation that's for sure but he has to make the situation work there's no doubt about it I got asked last night you know has the the the struggles he's had in the playoffs with the Clippers and Philly and so on and so forth is that going to follow him and I said it might follow him not that it's always fair but it might follow him until you know if he can get this right and win a championship in Milwaukee I I think it kind of you know qums everything in the past how much does a coach matter I think a coach matters Dan it's no doubt if you look at the really successful teams if you look at Phil Jackson with Chicago and the Lakers you look at you know SPO in in Miami you look at Pat Riley you look at the greats pop obviously in the Spurs Cur with the Warriors coaching matters and it's not always in X's and O's it's bringing you

know people together it's accountability it's it's different things and knowing the post of your team so all those different things going to it do you think I could have won a title with the bulls as a coach DP I think you could have won a title with the bulls as a coach correct answer do you I believe that do you think I could have won a title with Shaq and Kobe I believe you could but could could you have won a threee no with both those guys see that's coach they would have gotten tired of me that that that probably would have happened but you know that eventually I think magic talked about after a while you know Pat Riley starts to wear on you like you you can only be around that for such I mean there's a a finite amount of time it feels like you can put up with each other and I think that's a fact I think that like even with the Clippers that was the best team I was on I was there five years the first year the second

year the jokes are funny we've heard the stories are brand new they're fresh right the third and fourth year he's starting to finish the story's form you're like okay we got to get this we got to we got to win some games man foret we got a championship right and that's all of us I'm saying players coaches everything like it definitely wears on you wa who was who was your coach well I had I had a couple of them I had vny and I had doc at the time as well okay so you would heard all their stories yeah by the by the end I definitely heard the stories I definitely a man who put up 51 points and five assists and is that right Paulie confirmed yeah yes Marvin with four different teams what do you mean yes Marvin yes Marvin go ahead speak on it Marvin so Jamal Crawford the pride of Seattle Washington scored 50 points with four different teams M okay he was a Bucky yeah he's the jiss of the NBA

jiss there you go Marvin yep like he might not be quote unquote a hall of fame or whatever but you don't want to guard him like you don't want to rap against Jus and you don't want to guard Jamal h of you don't want to guard him you do not want to get in a cipher with me on a song do not want to get on the same song good to talk to you again Jamal thank you you as well thank you DP appreciate it Jamal Crawford always great to have him on Sixth Man in of the year three times scored over 50 points for four teams in a game right Mar that is right yeah why didn't you tell me that before we had him on and then I CU I looked when Paul was looking at it I looked at it up too I was like four teams I thought he maybe did it a couple times with the uh the Knicks yeah little heads up little research here could have helped me yeah yeah thank better late than ever thank you Mark uh let's take a break last call for phone calls what we

learn once in store tomorrow right after this I'm DNE way and I've been blessed to have so many titles so far in my life but now I'm adding podcast host with my new podcast called the Y with Dwayne wait on this show I will have intimate conversations with some of the biggest names in sports in music entertainment in fashion and we will discuss the wise in their lives listen to the why with Dwayne Wade on the iHeart Radio app Apple podcast or whever you can get your podcast
