Hey. All right. Welcome, Zuben. We're live. Okay. I I really want to go live today because I was I've been talking to a few people now. Um spoke to a good friend today and we were talking about this comparing mind in the whole awakening journey, right? And uh they're in healthcare as well. And you know, there's something about us healthcare people like we we just love accomplishment, ambition, a map to get where you're going. Give me the recipe and I'll do it. If I want something, just tell me the steps and I'll do it. And then show me other people who've done it so I can compare because that's what the mind loves to do. Okay. Well, they're there, I can get there doing this or they're there and now I'm feeling a little like envy and I need to push myself. And this is just how it is. I remember when I was in a premed at Berkeley, there was this kid who showed up to the big premed lectures

like OKAM, physics, those big ones that you need to get into medical school. And there were so there were like 600 premeds or something at Berkeley. And I decided I was going to be one of them. So this kid would show up and he would bring his own, so it's a 600 person lecture hall. bring his own folding chair to the class so he could sit in front of the front row. He's like, "No, that's not close enough." Like, how am I literally going to kiss the professor's ass if I can't touch my lips to his butt? Like, it's just not going to. So, we're kind of programmed this way.

There's an ambition engine built into a lot of people, not just healthcare providers, but a lot of us. and my friend is like this, I'm like this. There's a kind of a at some point there's a shame and unworthiness engine for many of us that's like okay I'll never be enough so I have to show that I'm enough. And then this awakening journey starts where you're like, "Oh, wait. There's relief from suffering." Like I can disidentify with my thoughts, emotions, feelings, body, and almost detach into a a kind of a free state of being that feels peaceful and I'll finally be happy and I'll finally arrive and oh man, I mean, it's a beautiful thing, right? until the comparing mind, the ambition engine gets a hold of it and it's processed through that fundamental unworthiness filter. And then you notice this, this is like getting it right up the the tukus.

Then this unfolding becomes another game that the mind tries to play and win and compare to others. Now, I I titled this like you really can't do any of this wrong because even that is the perfection of this unfolding. And let's let's talk more about this. So, this person and I were talking and you know, they were saying, you know, I I've I've had all this kind of sense that there's just this everything is just present. I've been through a lot like I've done the psychedelics. I've done a lot of work. I've gone to retreat and it seems like there are times when it's just there's a millisecond of just absolute clarity like I can't say a word about it. It's just everything is just as it is and it just feels right and then there's macrosconds of back in mind and this feeling that I've ne there's no awakening. I don't even know I'm back nothing has changed at all. And then I go and watch videos on YouTube, they

were saying, and or I read books or I I I listen to different teachers and they're all saying like different things and I'm feeling like I don't have those things. So, oh, you have to have this awakening in order to get to this stage or until yourself drops and you die, you don't know anything about anything cuz you're still acting from ego. Or until you have this explosion of condundalini shockti energy coming out of your third eye and your taint at the same time, you won't have that folding chair that gets you in front of the front row to kiss God's ass. Because that's what we're literally trying to do in this journey is we're trying to get so close to God that God's ass and us are one. We're not two.

And this just drives everyone insane. I know cuz it happens to me. And I say happens even in the present tense because even with I mean look I've been through a lot on this journey like a lot has fallen away and a lot still arises including this doubt mass of like I'm not awake at all. I don't know what this is. I feel just as much like a person as ever. And then five minutes later, it's it's just this radiant absolute love coming from this nowhere that is that everywhere is made of you. I mean the words are stupid, right? Suddenly you're talking like Ramdas, right? And this is how it seems to go. It just pendulates.

This is the kind of human journey. It seems like if we're going to tell stories which is this here we are telling stories and so you know for me and I was I was telling this person I was like okay for me it's like there are these levels of being it seems there's this gross reality where you're you know Zuben doing your thing you're you've got your personality sometimes you identify with all that like you think you are that and other times it's just playing itself out and then there's another level that seemingly arises that is no I'm actually the witness of all this. I am this consciousness in which this is all appearing as objects. So I'm like this witness this like almost blissed out field of awakeness presence you could call it where you can literally feel everything is just happening now to this presence as a witness and that is like a huge relief. It feels like really nice and yet it doesn't last.

In fact, it almost feels like it's appearing and disappearing completely out of our control. Oh, how could that be? H maybe because there is no control and maybe because it's not the final say. It's not the ultimate reality or the ultimate truth. It's another fluctuating burst of this loveness that's coming out of whatever that ultimate reality is as that ultimate reality. So there's this gross contraction. Then there's this expansion that you can get from meditation, from retreat, from psychedelics, from luck, from walking in nature, from just being a human. It can happen, a flow state.

And then you're like, I want that all the time. And if I don't have it all the time, something's wrong with me. I didn't do something right. And there's that little premed again or that pre- nurse or that pre jizz or whatever the hell it is that's showing up and the unworthiness engine is going and it's like I I I just don't get it. I'm not awake. And then you have these people on YouTube who have had different degrees of clarity, realization, whatever it is, different stages or different air positions they take on all this and they express in different ways. And so you have the kind of like I put these people into kind of three big categories, right? There's like the Ramdas like you got to, you know, we're all souls on a journey trying to clean up our karma and our [ __ ] all our conditioning. And until we kind of clean that mirror and kind of polish it and look at it all, we are not going to be able to be one with

God or the absolute or you know par Brahman or whatever you want to call it, right? The unborn. And so you go on the quest, you go to India, you sit at the feet of the guru, you go to the temples, whatever Buddhist tradition, whatever Christian tradition, and you work your ass off. You surrender to this thing and you bust your ass. And there are stages and there's work and there's prayer and there's chanting and there's mantras and all of it is a kind of towards a goal of purifying this soul or conditioning so that you can sit as God so that you can enter the kingdom of heaven. And as Jesus said, unless ye become like these children, converted like these children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven which is here. You can't see it because of all this. So that's school number one. And these folks will and all of this is beautiful. I've been kind of experiencing all of this and all of it

resonates at different times. There's no right or wrong. You can't do this wrong because you don't you're not doing it. It's the whole manifestation doing it. So you see then okay meditate in this way there's these different stages um make sure to kind of clean up your actions make sure you have righteous action in the world and and so on and and compassion and serve others all very beautiful stuff right so that's one expression and the thing is I think that taps into this fundamental radiant feeling of unconditional love when you sit at the feet of a guru who has who is embodying that you feel seen and You melt into that unconditional love as it and it is so beautiful and and rather seductive and then the mind makes something of it. It's like how how do I get back there? I got to do these things and I got to you know and it just becomes this big quest. Okay, so that's one and that can feel like you know

you're left out. There's a competitiveness among spiritual people. There's like different levels of attainment and oh this person's a a freaking baba and this guy's a city and this guy whatever the hell, right? or in terraod and Buddhism Buddhism there's these different stages like the mind illuminated which was a book I used to see as a bible when I was going through that phase like the 10 stages of of meditative attainment and you do these different things and it's like a cookbook and you're like oh I'm just not getting it or I am getting it I'm all excited so that can happen so you see that expression then you have the kind of zen like dogan expression which is like dude bro enlightenment is this. So all you got to do is shut the [ __ ] up and sit as the Buddha. Sit like with discipline, with form, with structure and the mind will calm itself down and you will then see what is already and always been the case

that it's just this empty radiance. So same same end point, totally different approach. sit in silence, you know, and I'm simplifying this, but this is a just like just sit. Shikantaza is the is a particular style of Zen that I'm talking about. And so people can do that and they can sometimes do that for years and still be as confused and lost as ever if they don't have good instruction or or luck or grace. And even that's not doing it wrong, but for so so for some people that works really well. And for others it just doesn't make sense. It doesn't click. And then there's this kind of have I got it? Like am I sitting doing nothing right? Like how do I do that? Or their mind is so loud. There's so much conditioning, so much karmic sort of that it just doesn't work that way. So then you have the third sort of school, these neoaditans.

So like Tony Parsons, um Jim Newman, folks like that. And their expression is, "Yeah, I did all those things." None of that [ __ ] All it does is keep the seeking mind going. And all you're doing is comparing, seeking, ambition, getting your folding chair, putting it in front of the class, and all that is is ego being ego. It's it's just a dream character continuing to use dream techniques to wake up in a dream from what they think is a dream, and it goes nowhere. So then you say, "Well, then how how do you how what what what's really going on?" Well, there's no you. There never was. This is a dream. Just see it.

Sometimes just hearing me say that is enough. You'll just see it. Sometimes it's grace. Nobody knows how it happens because there's no cause. There's no effect. There's just nothing showing up as this dream. And when that's seen, the dreamer can be seen through. And no longer is there a center of self self story. everything drops and then everything is just happening as it is to no one and that's liberation in that conception and again I'm simplifying all this and so for those guys it's like when you hear that at the right time the right person everything can drop you can release all that seeking energy the comparing mind the ambition all of it and it's just whoa they were right holy smokes it is just this and then someone cuts you off in traffic and you're right back in the person again, you know, or it's fully dropped and maybe that's because you did all those other things. Who knows? You can't

know anything but a fat lot of good that pointing does. If you're still up in your head all the time, then what you do is you just bypass. You go, "Well, there's nothing to do. There's nowhere to go. There's no me." And then you see these [ __ ] on YouTube leaving comments like, "Who is saying this? There's no I." And you see the fact that they're leaving comments is just this big ego going, "Listen to me. my new identity is no self. And then as I was talking to this person today, it's like, you know, have I attained no self? Have I not? Have I this that? And it's like we're just laughing. We're like, dude, there's no what even is that talking about? But that message is powerful because it's actually true. There really isn't that doer there until it apparently shows up as an appearance. But that's fine. And so all three of these approaches, there's tons of people making videos now or writing books where you can go down

those rabbit holes. And the truth is whatever seems to be showing up and it resonates at that time allin. And then a discernment arises and you're like this isn't working anymore. Why am I anxious? Why am I feeling contracted when I see people express in this way or something like that happening? It's like oh maybe this is no longer the right thing. And just like the body gets hungry when it needs to eat, it gets upset, anxious, and stressed when the message is no longer right and it needs something else on this unfolding. And that will then come, it will show up. Maybe it's a conversation. Maybe it's some different teacher. Maybe it's no teacher and it's someone like of, you know, and you've seen me make videos in the entire spectrum of this because I've been through all of this and continue. It continues to kind of vibrate out in different ways. So everything kind of shows up when it shows up. And so I've

said things like all these spiritual teachers are full of [ __ ] [ __ ] all of this. Just stop. Realize there's nothing but this. See it. You know, it's like Nisarodada says he's kind of more in that kind of camp of my guru told me I was the absolute reality and I believed him and I sat with the sense of eye for three years and it just became me. I realized I am that. That's the title of his book. And then he seemingly from what is described can inhabit all of those realms seamlessly without any stickiness because he's in the third configuration which isn't a configuration. this absolute this which I recently did a video about it there's so many words va v void god um absolute it's nothing it can't be grasped by mind it's mind dying back into and as this pure potentiality that spits out the entire manifestation and that spitting out that vomit action feels like unconditional love. It feels

like it's just coming from the the heart and the whole world is that and you just got to love everything when you're sitting as that. You're gone and there's just that and you see it everywhere. It's just that. And so Nisarodata says, "Well, I realize I am that." And so then all of this, that's where his beautiful uh saying comes like when I look back and I see I am nothing. I am nothing. I am the absolute. That's wisdom. When I look out and I see I am everything, that is love. And in between these two, my life flows.

It's this flux. You can't do it wrong. You cannot [ __ ] this up because it it is the it is always that it's always that perfection. And so you'll hear all kinds of people saying all kinds of thing things and you'll compare and you'll go am I there? Did I have awakening? I haven't had this fireworks explosion of whatever people are saying. The bottom drops out and this that and the self and the this. It's all right. I know exactly what you're saying. I've been through it. It's really that frustration that arises is the perfection pushing you with a hunger to the next.

That's what it feels like. And this is a story in space and time in the gross realm that we're talking about. But from this absolute perspective, just it's just like stop. And it's something that's always known beyond your mind and it's always there. And it's like a feeling like you're coming home, but you never left. And everything I just said is going to cause some people to go, I want that. I didn't get that. I don't see it that way. This is just how it shows up here for you. It may be just as obvious as a millisecond of feeling perfectly okay.

And that's it. That's all it is. It doesn't need to be anything more. And then you just there's just a natural trust and faith that this is unfolding exactly as it will for the character here for this manifestation of energy. Perfect. So then you take a breath and you're like I cannot do this wrong which means I can not do this at all because it's being done by the whole thing. The whole thing is doing itself. And then that love that comes online. This is another line from Nisarodatada which I really like. He says this guy's asking him like bro um why is a mind the mind's creating these big divisions and separation and all this and what do I do? And he says yeah the mind creates the abyss. The heart crosses it.

Yeah. It crosses all separation and just and you can see even the way I'm acting sounds like a crazy person because to the mind this doesn't compute to this to the knowing right it is just feels like pure unconditional acceptance love God energy there's all these different words and none of them touch it. Um all right let's go to some comments. Thanks for letting me rant and rave. Let me um let me make these a little bigger so I can see better. Susan says, "Yep, I've been studying Nisarodatada. I am that and recently discovered Salvador Poe." I don't know Salvador, but Nisarodatada. Like I remember years ago I tried to read I am that. And I I kind of groed it. I was like, "Yeah, okay. Yeah, yeah, no. Of course, yeah." It was almost like my mind turned it into a conceptual thing like of course there's this absolute reality and I just have to sit with the I am. I know what that is because I've

had this and I know this insight and yeah. Uh-huh. And I was like, uh, and I, you know, halfway through I stopped. I was like, okay, I get it. I get the message. Got it on Kindle recently just to see, you know, what has anything changed in my perception? Cuz the mind is a fabrication machine. We're going to talk about that. That's important. What has changed in my mind in terms of fabricating reality now with whatever's unfolded here, okay? Because the unfolding, each little microscopic millisecond insight reconditions this realm in terms of how mind is creating this projection. And so you see things differently like you suddenly start to believe in things like oh maybe psychic stuff is actually possible because I've experienced it or maybe these um maybe everything is made of this pure love and I didn't understand it before maybe conceptually but not I didn't realize it and now I do and now

everything looks like love everybody looks like like God. Um, so I was reading it and I had to go really slow like line by line. I was like every single word like you know he says, "Oh, I just I exist in the absolute and everything else just happens as that and there I am." Yeah. Wow. And you just sit. One expression he has that's really beautiful. And he says this absolute reality, the absolute self with a capital S, if you want to use that language, which I don't know cuz it's like it's everything. How can it be a self? But it's all words, is like a light. And all of this manifestation, consciousness itself, that awake presence we were talking about, the phenomena, this microphone, the sound of my voice, all of that is like dust being illuminated by that.

And it's not even like that knows these objects. They're not objects. It's just that it illuminates everything. It is the fabric of everything. Without it, there's nothing. and um and the Sarodat is really good at at pointing to that. So these insights change the way our mind fabricates reality. Um it's quite beautiful. Um Pamela and I the mind is like a dog being taken to the veterinarian to be put down and all the time it's wondering what treat it's going to get. That's a beautiful way to say it. You know, there's a there's a sense and we all have our own conditioning. So, some people who've had a lot of trauma, have had traumatic childhoods, have had things happen to them. For them, the mind is really like it's a tormentor.

And it's seen like as really like you put it almost as an enemy like I've got to do something about this cuz this thing has been torturing me or it's it's it's it's constantly causing me suffering and suffering around me. And that's a real like there's a lot of compassion for that because it's like yeah the mind is our jailer in that way right we're our own jailers and yet you know there's something that you said in that line which is like it's like looking for a treat like mind is totally innocent it is this you cannot do this wrong mind is not doing it wrong it's doing what it does and the beauty is at some point we just see it we just see what it is then it's no longer an enemy it's not a friend it's not an enemy it's just what it is perfect expression of unconditional love because it is because it exists because it as an appearance is there it's totally okay and that just that acceptance is enough

to let so much suffering relax a radical acceptance of what's arising as an appearance it what is real in that sense the only thing that feels real is that that I am not the sense of I am that that I am that is what I is this inconceivable no thing that it sounds so esoteric but it's this all of this is that this is how that looks when it shows up in appearance I don't know I'm talking nonsense okay let's scroll down marathon monk it's amazing how quickly the ego starts to co-opt awakening I am awareness itself the voice says in my head then another voice is like yeah who's declaring that see this is the it's it's a beautiful labyrinth because my because you'll hear all this oh I am awareness okay so there's an identity so now you're looking for what I am and then you're like well what's looking at that and it's this infinite regress and then something can happen at least here I'm speaking from my own experience

where it's like oh just let that go cuz there's nothing aware of There's just what is and that can only really be realized when everything stops. When it's like, oh, so what's beyond and prior to even awareness, being and not being and don't like don't make this another thing you're trying to chase, but I know that the mind wants to do that. Just just let this thing go as it does. And it may show up for you in a way that you don't articulate this like that at all at all. You may just be like, "Yeah, it's just this," you know, or you may be like, "No, you know, I'm perfectly happy living my life." You can't do this wrong. You really can't. You're not doing it.

Um Dan says, "What is real is your truth. Be it religion, spirituality, whatever. If it gives you peace, it gives you peace. I really don't think anyone's right in this space." How can they be? It's all a story. So your and this is the thing like your awakening is your this pattern of energy experiencing it's your mind projecting and fabricating and then the relaxation of that and all of this and it's all fine. There's no other way that it has to be. If you're feeling restless, if you're feeling anxious, if you're comparing yourself to others, if those things are arising, that again is like this, the body takes care of itself. Hunger arises, you go eat, that's like a hunger arising or a little pang, a little discomfort, so you scratch it. So what do you do? You go, you see it. This is the best thing though if you can actually just be aware. So I was talking to this person today and they were

saying, "Yeah, it's funny because I notice this is happening. I notice my mind is comparing. I notice that it's generating this suffering energy of like I haven't woke up even though I've had all this insight. It's like I haven't woke up and I see that and I'm like there you go. That's all that's that's the natural outgrowth of this thing is you just start noticing oh yeah Zubin is an [ __ ] at times or Zuben is mind identified again. Zuben thinks he's a person or whatever. And just the seeing of it is like well what what's seeing that like h and then you just realize oh I'm not doing any of this and so the clarity can clarity can come in so many different ways but when you notice that's the main thing and then you can know whatever is there is accepted it's like okay okay maybe it shows up as a kind of hunger and you go do the next thing but be careful because even this is okay but the seeking the seeking energy

when it really runs a muck and um there's not a seeing of it, it can be really uncomfortable and you can be stuck in these kind of loops which is also how it's going to show up. But at some point just hearing someone say you can be stuck in these loops and the seeking energy itself sometimes just needs to stop and it just stops when it exhausts itself or you see through it or something is seen. Sometimes someone just saying that is enough to get the seeking energy to go click clack. Who knows? So we talk in this way but making it a thing is not going to make it happen. Nothing will make it happen because it's just unfolding. And it is love. It's all actually love. Mind creates the abyss. Love and the heart cross it. That's nisarodatada for you.

Tori says, "I developed some bad habits seemingly as a result of spiritual bypass. It's it is how it is and can't be any other way kind of thinking. let me myself off the hook for some unhealthy behaviors. Let's talk about spiritual bypass. So when we say everything is perfect and it's fine and you can't do this wrong, that is a license for some minds to do something called spiritual bypass, which is everything's perfect. So I don't need to do anything right. I don't need to try. I don't need to be a good person. I don't need to not smoke, not drink, not have addiction, not, you know, beat up on my kid, whatever it is, because that's just the manifestation of this body mind doing its thing that can arise. And it's often associated with any any kind of those teaching styles can can trigger that.

But it's much more associated I think with the neoadite and like everything is as it is. Even certain types of zen that don't emphasize the right action moral stuff. Um they just kind of allow like some of the teachers are just these crazy alcoholics and you know sleeping with students and doing all this ridiculous behavior and it's all kind of well you know everything's okay from the absolute. There's no right and wrong which is true. And yet, and yet go and do that. Go and allow that. Go and bypass go out and pick up smoking. Go out all the things you wanted to do and it just doesn't matter. Ignore your children.

Um, do all kinds of things that you wouldn't have done because you thought there was a God watching you. Do all those things and see see what happens. First of all, can you do it? Like Tori says, just the fact that Tori is writing this comment says they saw they couldn't do it. They couldn't do it for long. That itself is the selfcorrecting mechanism of this whole beautiful unfolding. Like the more this unfolds, the harder it is to do harm to yourself and others. And I can't say why that is except to say everything is felt as this kind of love. Well, why would you hurt another person? And then the Ramdas sort of school of like, you know, do things feed the poor.

Remember God. Remember that you are that love everyone. You don't have to like everyone but love them as you as Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Right? And it just happened spontaneously. So you can even go through that period of spiritual bypass. That can be a beautiful growth for me. I did a fair bit of bypass for quite some time. you know, I was like, and I tell you, it self-corrects and it shows up in so many different funny ways like um these different bodhicattvas just show up and they point to how you're being a total ass clown and they and they do it in a non-judgmental way sometimes. They're just like, "Oh, have you noticed?" You know, and it's like, "Oh." And then you kind of see it and you're like, "Oh." And then this is another thing. If you're around people who embody that unconditional love, it really is infectious. Like, you get a big smile on your face and you find it's

really hard to get up in your head. It's really hard to think about just doing whatever the hell you want and not helping, not being of service in some way. In some way, whatever that is, whatever that is for you, it just shows up. So, it's it's it's a weird kind of magic. Uh, this is just my experience and but like like I'm [ __ ] perfect. I'm figuring this out with you guys. Like this is unfolding in real time for you guys with me. I've been doing this for years. Go watch my videos. I'm a crazy [ __ ] Like the sh the [ __ ] that I've said and some of it like sometimes I'll just do z roulette and I'll go let me watch this old video I did and I'm watching it and sometimes I'm just like this motherfucker's transmitting like who is this guy? Where did those words come from?

And then other times I'm like, "Oh, look, he's being performative. He thinks he knows what this is and he's trying to convince people that he that he knows." Or here he's repeating what Angela said. He's using Angelo speak. Like, look at that. Oh, yeah. I remember that. Or here he's using like um you know the more radical non non-dual speaker like there's no self, nothing's happening, nothing's going Oh, look at that. But did he really was he embodying it at that time? And you're kind of feeling into it. You're like, "Yeah, there he was. No, there he's not." It's only like watching a character. It's fascinating to have a record of that, you know? And so now it's like in every moment it's just like, "What is this?" Like, what's next? I don't even know. And there's no way that it has to be. And crazy [ __ ] still arises. And weird mystical [ __ ] arises from time to time. and I get obsessed with a certain way of

expressing or a certain teacher or a certain and not so much that that I'm I'm trying to get anywhere, but rather that it's just fascinating like it resonates in a way that it didn't before. It's just it's a lot of fun and torment like when the shadow stuff comes up or more like conditioning and you realize you're watching it happen and you're like oh my god that is some really deep unworthiness showing up like when will I ever be okay and despair and nashing of teeth and the drama and then it's gone. Oh, it's a lot of fun. I highly recommend it and also wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Um, Jerry Kosha says, "I loathe the term bypassing. It casts doubt in the process which just creates more addiction to thought. I like what you just said.

I think it's a good term because it does point at a certain aspect of this, but like I said, go ahead and do it. Let it happen cuz I mean it nothing is the enemy here. So, let it happen and see what is what arises." And I told you what arised for me. I like I just couldn't do it anymore. I I realized there was stuff I needed to look at. Like there was stuff in my personal um configuration that needed to be seen for what it was because it was running the show unconsciously. I I would go unconscious and these behaviors would happen. And then I was telling myself I'm awake and that this is all perfect.

And it is. And of course, nobody wakes up because there's nobody to wake up. They're just this, but we speak and you know, um, Spacetrack says, "It's like I'm drowning." Ah, that's a beautiful phrase. Yeah, it is. It's like someone's holding you. You know, that's why I love that poem, um, White by White Wy T called the Well of Grief. And it's really about like you know those who will not slip beneath the still surface on the well of grief turning down through the blackness to the place we cannot breathe. We'll never know the secret source from which we drink the cold clear water or the cold clear source from which we drink. nor find in the darkness glimmering the small round coins thrown by those who wished for something else.

Ah, you drown to the place you cannot breathe. You go to every part that you don't want to look at and you don't even do it. It's like you're surrendered and there down in the murky depths you find those gold coins that were like I wish it wasn't this and oh look look you have to go there you know like like um Joseph uh why am I forgetting his name the hero's journey guy Joseph what's his name said The cave that contains the treasure you seek is guarded by, you know, your worst fears. The cave you fear to enter contains the treasure you seek. Joseph Campbell. Joseph Campbell. So, you have to go there and it does feel like drowning.

Um, let's see. Yeah, thanks Karen Campbell. Um, Amadeus says, "Zuben, thanks for doing this. I would love to incorporate phyton more into medicine. What's your take on this? I don't know what phytootherapy is. Are we talking phototherapy? I don't I don't know what that is. I'm I'm I'm in the dark about that. My um my medical knowledge these days is soft. it kind of that identity of Zubenz doctor has kind of been put in its right place which is that was something that arose and now it's less sticky. Um eight months for Karen in the super pack in the supporter tribe. That's awesome.

Um, Marathon says, "I'm in a psychology program that asks me to choose an orientation." And I'm like, "I don't know anymore after seeing through the self." Psychology becomes weird. But, you know, so what? You see through the self and you see that it's not you. You don't identify with it anymore, but it still shows up and you can still see other people's selfing and help, right? But yeah, it becomes a little disorienting. You can't take much of this seriously, but you can still be sincere about it. Yeah. Um, yeah. So, let's see.

Linda Wum says, "My mind is like a mismatched jigsaw. My thoughts are all over the place. Complex PTSD is the pits." Yeah. So see when mind is like that when that's the configuration that Linda has through whatever trauma none of it's your doing right there's no you're doing you can talk all you want about no self and the absolute and all that and the minute that is touched the entire body goes and pulls you right back into this chaos because the body's encoded the sense of lack of safety, lack of resource. And this is where my friend Simon, who hopefully we're going to have a conversation on Friday, he's pro at this. He's been through this. He's one of those people that whenever I talk to him, this big smile on my face, like he just transmits unconditional love and he's been through it. So, he's very much got, you know, been through what you're talking about. And it took a lot of work of different flavors. trauma work,

psychotherapy, sematic work, years of meditation, Buddhist study, all those things. He went down that path. And for him, it's about service, you know, it's about loving kindness. It's about meta. It's about that. And that's what bridges this chasm of mind for him. And it's still a struggle. That's what's beautiful. You just can't do it wrong. You know, disorientation. and Vicki, good to see you. Um, yeah, and Dan says, "I swear the absolute is different for everyone, too, which only complicates everything." Because this is why it's different, Dan.

It's what it is, which is no thing. It can't be touched by mind. When it is realized, mind then comes back and whatever your particular configuration of mind is, then fabricates what it is. So some people say it's like I touched God and God was holding me and I was God and and then other people say whoa there's absolutely nothing doing everything and other people say it's empty but totally full and other people say it's absolutely a total void that that all of this is happening as and so for every mind it shows up But the realization is that's just what it's just that it's not a thing. You can't really say a word about it. All the words do is kind of point you in a direction, you know, that's really impossible to describe and it doesn't need to be described. Bro, that's the whole thing. It's like it just is that is what I is to quote David Cars Amadeus.

Oh dude, come on and rock me. Amadeus uh says using the study of plants as a whole in medicine, roots, leaves, etc. Um using the benefits of echynatia or ginger to boost your immune system, more research is still needed seems to be more natural. So this is the thing that's beautiful. I don't know what natural and unnatural mean anymore because those are distinctions made by by human thought, nature man-made. I just don't know. That's why it's really hard to think about medicine. I think about the body kind of going through its thing and kind of guiding us in a way. Um, and all the flavors. Just like I said, you can't do this wrong. I don't know that healing can be done wrong.

because what's needed seems to show up. Not always as we know. So maybe this plant thing is a thing. Maybe you need chemotherapy. Maybe you know a vaccine is a good idea to prevent measles. Maybe you know what I mean? Like it's a whole I it's hard to make the distinctions between naturopathic and I used to make these distinctions and now it's like I I just can't. They're artificial. It's all all views seem provisional in this sort of dream and yet we seem to do we try to do the thing that is the natural expression of compassion.

It just seems to happen. So it might be for you exploring plant stuff and integrating it into medicine. For others it's going into a research lab doing standard alopathic western medicine and anything in between. Pamela describing it is beside the point. It's like food trying to be a different food or a map trying to be a city. foods are different from each other and the map is never the city. Yeah. The map is never the territory and you can have all these different maps of the absolute and the way to get there and it's just a map. It's like you know Pierce Salggerero and the threads of awakening sort of model that we've talked about on our show. It's another map. It's a little more inclusive like oh there's the these different threads that awakening can unfold on like a unity thread where it starts everything gets less and less separate and more and more unity more and more love or the

emptiness thread everything is less and less real solid existing permanent and more and more just this empty radiance or the um energy thread everything is just less and less static and more and more dynamic flux of energy or the psyche thread everything is just causes and conditions in the in the mind playing out. And the more we allow, the less we resist, the more we see the ultimate truth, which is there was no self. There's only the conditions playing out as a dance. So all those are just maps. The territory is undescribable.

It's beyond mind entirely. This moment cannot be described in words. Any word you use captures it as it was or as it never was because you're only just scraping. You're shooting an electron off the surface and looking at the pattern it makes to try to decide what that is. It's just what it is. That's it. Unknowable by thought. Yep. Thought tries to put a frame on it. Tries to put a label and a function on it because that's how thought functions. And it's useful in the relative world for sure. to fix your car or to do your taxes or to program a computer or to practice medicine. Um, hi web de welcome absent orange. I'm stuck on there's nothing here and all that arises is despair and depression. Okay, this is definitely a Okay, this is my experience. This is a stop along the way.

this collapse of the ability to say this is how things are. There's solid reality. It's predictable. It's somewhat permanent. It can bring me satisfaction. Then one of the first cracks in that armor is nothing is bringing me satisfaction. Either I'm suffering a lot because I have bad circumstances or I have great circumstances and I'm still not happy. Like nothing is bringing me satisfaction. And so then that kind of shift can happen where you realize, oh that's because this is not what I am. It can't bring happiness because it's in it's illusory in that sense.

It's not the fundamental reality. And so then you go level up and it's like ah because I'm consciousness. It's it's bliss. It's like I'm just aware of this. I'm eternal consciousness. It's like beautiful and then that can go and then the mind has no no purchase anymore and you can experience things as totally impermanent and this the mind that's still there is trying to get a foothold and it shows up as depression, despair. Like not all my hopes and dreams are [ __ ] Like everything I thought I was is a lie. Like it's like when Neo first wakes up and he's on the ship, he throws up when they tell him what's going on. He's like, "No, that's impossible." And and that's the despair.

But it's just a stop. Some people can be there for a while. And anything's possible. I mean, you could die there. Like, anything's possible. Die, whatever that means. But then this mysterious love thing comes on line. And that absolute doesn't need purpose and meaning. It doesn't need any of the things. Doesn't need hope. It is everything and nothing at once. And it shows up as this flux. When the heart opens is just love, radiance, perfection. And then we collapse into any mini me again. And then it's love again. And then maybe you're in consciousness. And then maybe a little bit of despair shows up. And you can't do it wrong. How it shows up is how it shows up.

There's just I don't know. There's a fundamental here. There's a fundamental sense of a a sense of okayess of of rightness. Your mileage may vary. Um Dan says, "Hey, Absson Orange, repeat loving yourself and this for what you it are is number one." So it's again it's like the heart. There's a heart aspect here that's often and and here's the thing like people talk about well you know Tony Parson or whatever Jim Newman that they're somehow you know just bypass masters and and it's amoral and nihilistic and so on right and sometimes when they're being uncompromising it can sound like that and then you talk to people who've talked to them in person who've been sat with them and they are just radiant unconditional love so this love has every gay every path, every hole that opens up in the curtain is showing you the same thing. So it doesn't matter how how it's it's seen.

It's the fabric of this thing. That's my experience. Again, don't believe me. Just see if it shows up that way for you. Maybe it won't. Maybe that's how it shows up is it just you never see that. Okay. Yeah, a little bit of despair, some depression that can arise. I [ __ ] shows up here for sure time to time. Yeah, Ashley says, "My chest is actually achd when that heart opening comes to the center of attention." Oh, it is like like an aliens when the alien comes out of your chest. It's it's a beautiful I I've heard it like Ramdas calls it unbearable compassion.

Oh, for everything. For everything. For all the world. For all of it. You, that, this, all of it. Just unbearable compassion. Just tear you into shreds in a beautiful way. Casey fam says, "What do you think about extrensory powers?" So, this is what I think. I used to think all that stuff was [ __ ] Then I had an experience on retreat where I literally was reading somebody's mind and I asked them later I'm like what the oh yeah I was like oh [ __ ] how did that happen and the thing is like I think anything's possible in consciousness because the mind is fabricating it there's not there's not an objective reality here there's a relative reality and a consensus reality and a structural matrix reality and your own projection of reality so yeah sure can you astral project why not can you travel without tra without moving? Why not? Can you um exist on multiple astral plains? Sure, why not? Can you, you

know, do yoga in your dreams lucidly? Of course. All so what? So, say it's all possible. What does it matter? It doesn't mean anything because this is a dream. So, enjoy it or don't. Often the teachings are don't try chasing those things because they're traps. And you could see how that could be a trap. And there are plenty of gurus in India and stuff that use those things to try to flamle people, get material wealth. And uh I don't know, it's kind of like spiritual bypass. Go ahead and try it. See what happens. See where it goes.

It'll self-correct. Absence says, "Yes, control is a deep rooted belief here. And energetically the body is uncontrollable and there's just this laughable knowing that there is no control. Yeah. Just [ __ ] you drop into that absolute for a millisecond and it's timeless. So we say millisecond because it seems to the mind like it was an instant. Oh, this is another thing. This kept coming up today when I was talking to this person. we were talking about she's like, you know, I I just I have these millisecond senses that like everything is perfect and and there's no control at all.

There's no doer at all. There's nothing going on. Just the perfection of the whole thing and then it's gone. It's like a millisecond and then my mind's like, "Oh, that wasn't that wasn't what was that?" Well, here's the thing, guys. This absolute is outside of time. It is timeless, eternal, not meaning everlasting, meaning out of time. Mind only exists in time. Mind is time. So mind goes that was it couldn't have been mattered because it was just like that. And it's like no that was it. You touched the absolute because you are the absolute. You just there it was millisecond more like eternity. Timeless. That's how it is. That's what timeless means outside of time. So mind will turn it into time which is millisecond short timeless.

Patrick says I don't know if extrenensory is a power. I had some experiences and I think it's part of us mind readading seeing the future. Yeah those things I mean they're described. Can you study them? It seems like the minute you look at them they don't happen. But you know then they would say well it's just fraud. But I don't know. I've experienced things where I'm like, hm. And you know, all this near-death stuff and all these people talk about, they try to assign meaning to it, like, okay, this means there is this or this means that. And it's like, no, it means that that experience was had. Any experience is possible. And they can be really meaningful for the person.

They might even help you see and attune better. But do they have objective meaning? I haven't found any. That's me. Because this the only objective is this. Anything that appears from it is a dance, a leela, a play. So yeah, in the play anything's possible. Science is definitely possible. Seems to be consensus reality. Science seems to work. You know, it seems to, but it has exceptions and weird things that don't make sense. And it's like, what's that about? Um Karen says, "My tradition says that you can create karma in dreams for precisely the reasons you mentioned." Yeah. Uh there are plenty of traditions that say what happens in your dreams is also karma causes and conditions and it's as real as the gross realm. So if you go out murdering people in your dreams, you're you're playing out that same karma. Dreams for me now are very interesting. they seem to be hard to distinguish from waking

reality because waking reality feels so dreamlike. And um a lot of times I'll wake up and really I'll remember the dream and and I'll be like that is so interesting cuz in that dream I was fully mind identified and fully a person and had these crazy ideas and impulses and sort of wrong thoughts in a way like and I'm like I bet that's some of karma showing itself. Some of this conditioning showing me that it's there and the dream is just showing it to me, you know, because it wouldn't happen in waking life. So, it's interesting. What does it mean? Who knows, but it was interesting. H um thanks for making me think about that. Actually, been kind of really sitting with that a bit. I should sit with it some more. Um, Amadea says, "Zuben, do you think there would be By the way, my name is spelled Z U B I N." Okay.

I always tell people when they spell it Zuben, I'm like, I'm not a sandwich. Okay. I'm not an I. I'm actually not a Zuben at all. Um, do you think there would be a goal for the timeless except for expressing itself? Do we guide our mind in some way? I don't think this thing has this is this thing is inscrutable. I I I don't see honest. Okay, let me stop for a second. Let me feel this.

Dude, this thing, this thing is just laughter. It's just laugh. It's just It's just giving off the universe. It has no It does not care. This is my sense. It is just like, look at this thing. Like really, it's so funny. Like when it I mean it is the divine comedy like we take that we take it seriously that we think there's a goal a direction to the universe that we think consciousness is evolving is so funny. It is so funny from that perspective which isn't a perspective. It's it's all you're just like like humans are so funny. Of course. Of course. Yeah. Of course. Because that's what mine does. It wants to make a thing of it. There's no thing of it.

And that's a huge relief. It's like whoa. All right. Let's do the thing. So, is that spiritual bypass? Does that mean I can now go murder a homeless guy, put him in my trunk, and just for kicks? Go and try. See if you can actually do that. I'm I'm not telling you go murder anyone. No, please YouTube, do not cancel this video. I'm saying that is just not how it works usually, unless you're a psychopath. So, um, Rich Hall, Rich Hall, Ricky Hall, Ricky Hall, Ricky, Ricky, don't you lose my number. That's not the song. I'm not anywhere.

You can't find me. Okay. Ricky says, "My dreams are always related to stress, like situations. I can't get out of or control what's happening to me." Yeah, because dreams are I Me, too. Dreams show you that you have no control. They're beautiful that way. They're like, "Try." And you're trying the whole time in the dream. You're like, "You can't do it. Can't control it." They're really um lovely teachers in that way. Um Dan says, "I'm convinced dreams are teaching you." Oh, there you go. I didn't even see Dan's coming about things that aren't real so that you can use those lessons in real life. Sure.

Perfect. Oh, Amadeas, you don't need to apologize. I just like ribbon you. Um Karen says, "I had a lucid dream and tried to tell other people they were in my dream, but they didn't respond." M well so I've had dreams that are lucid in the past. And what I found is I spoke to I did an interview with Andrew Holichek, who is kind of an expert in lucid dreaming. He's written books on it. And I was telling him I was like, "Yeah, you know, when I'm lucid, I realize, oh, I could have an orgy. I could, you know, take advantage of people. I could do I could do harm to people in my dreams. And even though I was lucid and I knew there were no ramifications, this is really interesting. There was no ramifications of what I did. I could get away with anything.

I couldn't do it. Like I found that I just couldn't like my heart just wouldn't it it wouldn't let me do it. And in a sense again it's like reality is reality is not reality. it it's all the dream and so h there's a fundamental movement towards compassion that starts to happen you know whereas I wonder when I was very young if that would have happened if I would have just gone a muck I don't know I don't know it's a mystery Jacine says have you had a dream you can't let go of well there was a funny one I don't know about letting go I had one the other day where I dreamed I was applying to medical school, not for the first time. So, meaning I was applying as a doctor, like me, as 52-year-old me, I was going back and applying to medical school because I wanted to do it again.

And I didn't know why, but I was like, of course, it makes sense. It felt totally obvious. So, I was visiting the campus I was interviewing at. There were a bunch of young students all in line to meet, you know, get their packet and meet the administrators and all this. And I was kissing all the administrators asses because I'm really good at that. And I because I I actually love those folks. I'm like, dude. And I always found like when you really relate to people that are like doing the paperwork, you're more likely to do well. Uh and so I was just smooing, doing my thing, talking to these kids like the wise old man. And then one kid had the audacity in my dream to ask me, "Hey uh doc have you thought about what you're going to tell your interviewer when they ask you, why are you going to med school when you're already a doctor?"

And I was just like, "What the fuck?" I was like, "You're right." And I started having this anxiety in the dream. I was like, "Oh shit." Like, "What am I going to tell them?" It wasn't like, "Wait, why am I doing this? What am I doing here?" No. Was like, "No, I'm supposed to do this. How am I going to convince this interview that this is the right thing?" And then I felt into it and I was like, "Well, I told him I was like, cuz I really want to do it again. I want to love it. I want to go through it with like open eyes.

I want to just dive into this [ __ ] like deep, like the deep end, like fully awake, see this whole thing, man." And the kid was just like, "What?" And then I woke up. So strange. So strange. Um, yeah, I heard there's a a Scrubs thing coming. I can't wait. Chaos, such a great show. Um, Amadea says, "While I had a background, uh, video on from you and something else." Oh, uh, wait, were you saying something earlier? Wait, I don't know what that means. H, yeah, remediation, Vicki, that's what it was. It was like, do it right because you [ __ ] up the first time.

go back and repeat four years of medical school. Um Marathon says meditation is effortless because awareness is effortless. So what did Terravada Buddha have in mind when saying be mindful and focus on breath or some other aspect of experience? Yeah. So this is the paradox of effort. Sam Harris talks about this a lot too much actually. Um again this goes to the different schools of teaching and what do you need at whatever time. So yeah it's true it's seen like the meditation is just life lifing itself. You're already the Buddha. You're already the absolute um just sit as that right the Dogen like sodtoen school.

But then the terraata Buddhists are like, "Wait, no, you got to constantly be mindful. You got to uproot these defilements. You're trying to work towards becoming an arahant, like the perfect perfected being, you know, like the Buddha. And you got to bust your ass and do all this." And um and here's the thing, like all of it seems to have its place or not in any like you can't do it wrong. So for me like that school showed up after. So my first like whatever like we'll call it awakening in 2012 was cuz I smoked a bunch of weed and a couple of like people uh broke down my ego and I was self critical enough to just have it all collapse and realize oh I wasn't that at all. There was only this present moment.

And then I discovered like Sam Harris and his whole like oh dude the goal is the path. like it's like a zogchen like just notice that you are that like awareness and that's all you need to do and don't worry about all this like complex meditation all that I was like okay cool and I would do that and it was very effortless it was easy and then something happened where I just found myself just full of just misery like I was so reactive and unhappy and I couldn't sit for very long and I was in my head and I was always trying to accomplish and then I found the mind illuminated which is that terrible like step-wise, mindful, concentration, awareness, um, attention, all of it, very methodical and scientific. And I did that for a good couple years, hardcore.

And what I found is it gave me some sense of seeing what the mind was doing and how it was apparently obscuring through its clouds this clear sky. And that allowed at some point became frustrating. I was like this is now feels like seeking it feels uncomfortable. And so that again that sense of like the body gets hungry goes finds the next thing. That's what happened here was like this is no longer a fit. But it's felt now in retrospect boy that was necessary like I had to do that otherwise I just did not have a disciplined mind like it was crazy mind monkey mind all the time. So having that mindfulness allowed me to introspect to be able to see what mind was doing and fully fully witness it which was a big deal. And then that went and then I found Angelo and I found like Lock Kelly and these kind of more direct path kind of zouish kind of folks and then the whole you know Neoaditen space shows up

and all that other stuff and it was all perfect. It was all beautiful and now I'm more of a this is I don't know what this is. I just don't know. Oh, it's funny. I'm discovering Ramdas and I just find there's so much beauty in how he expressed, you know, here was a guy who was a Harvard professor, lost his tenure for promoting psychedelics, goes to India, finds this guru, Nim Kurelli, Baba, who Ishoar turned me on to, just this pure, radiant love, unconditional love, falls down that whole rabbit hole, comes out the other side as someone who expresses with humor, with selfdeprecation, with like, I'm working this out with you. And I'm like, boy, that feels familiar. That's how I feel sometimes minus being good at it cuz he was good at it and man it was I just love it. I was reading um Miracles of Love about his guru. Now I'm reading Be Here Now which is just a classic. You're like damn how

did I miss this? I mean you always make fun of it. You're like be here now. Then you read it and you're like damn this is good. Especially at this stage I'm like [ __ ] whatever this stage is. Um, Dan says, 'I feel like you're trying to say, what you're trying to say is you need to surrender and allow your truth to find you rather than trying to find your truth for yourself, which is both true and wrong in my opinion. I mean, even the surrender is an act and it's not an act. It's impossible to talk about, right, Dan? It's like in the end, we do our best to point and in many ways we're pointing for our own conditioning or reconditioning oursel. Yeah, it's a total paradox.

So, I get it. I'll say there's no wrong way that this happens because it's happening as it happens. Um, all right, gang. I think we did a thing. Um, I got to run. I got to order some burritos and take them home for the kids. Couple more college essays due. I got to proofread. My kid doesn't let me change her essays. Just proofread grammar, make a few suggestions, and uh then we're done with that, which will be nice. Um, last comment. Marathon Monk says, "Be here now is like the power of now." At first I thought it was self-help nonsense, but now I'm like, "Okay, I guess Ehart was right." Yeah, totally.

Actually, Power of Now was a big gate for me after I had that shift in 2012. I I listened to the audio book of Power of Now and I didn't know. I was like, I know everything he's saying and yet it makes no sense intellectually at all. And the stuff that made intellectual sense I wasn't interested in. Yeah, it was really weird. Um, be here now is kind of like that now. It's for for the heart. It's for love. It's just like what the [ __ ] is this? Like I I still think 2026 is a year of just like heart that for me. That's how it feels. But of course, 5 seconds later, I'll be like, "Fuck all these hoes." All right, guys. I love you.

We're out.
